Before you begin to make any of these bubble bars, it is usually recommended to clean and sanitize any of your utensils and your workstation before starting on the recipe to guarantee the best results. You should wear gloves, an apron, a face mask, and a hair net while preparing this recipe.

Before we begin preparing our pumpkin roll bubble bars project, let’s take a closer look at the fragrance oil that we will be using. Pumpkin Roll Fragrance Oil by Natures Garden Candle and Soap Making Supplies brings the aroma of a fall favorite to life without the added calories.  The aroma of sweet sugar pumpkin puree is spiced with hints of spicy cinnamon and nutmeg. Then, notes of a warm, sweet-butter crust, drizzled with maple and honey are layered in.

Top Notes: Orange, Sugar Pumpkin, Sweet Butter
Mid Notes: Maple, Cinnamon, Nutmeg
Base Notes: Vanilla

Preparing the Dry IngredientsPreparing the Dry Ingredients

We will start this process by preparing our dry ingredients for making the Pumpkin Roll Bubble Bars. Lay all of your ingredients out on your workstation to allow easy access to them while working. In the deep mixing bowl, weigh your baking soda, sodium cocoyl isethionate, cream of tartar, and corn starch. So, place your bowl on your scale and be sure to tare out your scale.  Then, add the powdered ingredients to your bowl.

Mixing the Dry Ingredients
Mixing the Dry Ingredients

Use your hands to mix the ingredients for the bubble bar recipe together. Any clumps that are present in the powder should be broken down using your hands to ensure that the dry ingredients are clump free and smooth.

Mixing the Wet Ingredients

In a second small bowl, weigh out and mix the wet ingredients that are going to be added to the mixture. After the wet ingredients are weighed, add the following wet ingredients to a mixing bowl: vegetable glycerin, pumpkin seed oil, Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, and Pumpkin Roll Fragrance Oil. When all the ingredients are properly added to the bowl, mix the wet ingredients together. When you’re finished blending the ingredients, you are ready to begin mixing the wet ingredients with the powdered ingredients.

Combining the Ingredients TogetherCombining the Ingredients Together

The next step is to take the wet ingredients and add them to the same bowl containing the dry ingredients that you mixed. Put on your Nature’s Garden gloves, and mix the wet and dry bubble bar ingredients together using your hands. Keep mixing the ingredients in the deep bowl until you have a dough-like consistency that is slightly thicker than pizza dough.

Identify Correctly Mixed Dough

When you are finished mixing these ingredients, there are a few things you are looking for. If there are any lumps still present, keep mixing until you completely get rid of any lumps. If you come to notice that the dough is also too crumbly, then add some Nature’s Garden vegetable glycerin to the dough to ensure that it is smooth enough for rolling.  However, do not add too much to the doughy mixture otherwise it will not setup correctly and not harden completely.

Divide the Bubble Bar Dough in HalfDivide the Bubble Bar Dough in Half

Next, you will need a second deep mixing bowl. The dough in one of the bowls will remain white since this will be used as the internal filling to the Pumpkin Roll Bubble Bars Project. Take the bubble bar dough that you are going to leave white, roll it into a ball, and place it back into the bowl and leave it aside for later. Next, move over to the second bowl that contains the second lump of dough. The contents of the second bowl will be colored to resemble that of dough which will look like a lighter brown.

Coloring the Pumpkin Colored Bubble Bar DoughColoring the Pumpkin Colored Bubble Bar Dough

Following the ingredient amounts listed above, add the following ingredients to the dough in the second bowl: the pumpkin pie spice blend powder, FUN Soap Colorant orange oxide, FUN Soap Colorant yellow oxide, and the FUN Soap Colorant brown oxide. Then, using your hands, mix the bubble bar dough until the ingredients are completely blended. After you have fully incorporate the ingredients in the mixing bowl, roll the pumpkin colored dough into a ball.

Preparing the MatPreparing the Mat

Now is the time to start rolling out the pumpkin roll dough. First, you will need your flexible silicone mat. Another option would be to use parchment paper instead. I prefer the baking mat because it is reusable and a little thicker and sturdier. Take some baking soda and lightly sprinkle it over the mat and rolling pin. The baking soda will work to aid in preventing the dough from sticking to the mat. If the dough is too sticky, it will have the tendency to want to stick to a silicone mat or the rolling pin that are being used to roll the dough out.

Rolling the Pumpkin Colored DoughRolling the Pumpkin Colored Dough

First, make sure that the silicone mat is clean and dry. Then, take the pumpkin colored bubble bar dough, and place it on the flexible silicone mat. Take a rolling pin and roll the dough out into a rectangular shape. It doesn’t have to be a perfect rectangle. Just do your best to get it as close as you can. For the best look for your Pumpkin Roll Bubble Bars Project, make sure to roll the dough out to about a  ¼” thickness.

Rolling out the White DoughRolling out the White Dough

Next, take the white bubble bar dough ball and place it on top of the pumpkin colored dough. Sprinkle a little bit more baking soda onto the rolling pin. When the rolling pin is ready to use, roll out the white dough ball that you placed on top of the pumpkin colored dough layer. When you’re done rolling out the white dough layer, it should come out to be about that same thickness as the pumpkin colored dough layer at around ¼”. You also want it to be about the same shape and size as the pumpkin colored dough. Again, it does not need to be exact. You just want it to be as close to the previous layer as possible.

Rolling Bubble Bar Dough into a LoafRolling Bubble Bar Dough into a Loaf

The next step is to roll the bubble bar dough into a loaf to look like a Pumpkin Roll.  The first step is to place the dough in front of you vertically. Take the edge of the parchment paper or silicone baking mat that is the closest to your body and lift up on it. You want to make sure you have a good grip on it.

To roll a pumpkin roll, take the edge of the flat rectangular dough, and rolling it out over itself. Roll the dough into a cylinder to create a white swirl in the center of the roll. Take your time while rolling the dough to make sure that it doesn’t crack or tear in the process. Roll out the pumpkin roll evenly. This ensures that the entire Pumpkin Roll Bubble Bars Project looks its best.  Place the dough back onto the parchment paper.

Cutting the Loaf and Topping the Bubble BarsCutting the Loaf and Topping the Bubble Bars

When the pumpkin roll dough is rolled up to your desired look, take a knife and cut the roll into 1-2 inch slices or whichever thickness you prefer. Make sure the knife that you use to cut the bubble bar is clean of any excess residue. If you notice any debris on the knife, wipe it off before cutting the next slice. This should keep the pumpkin roll looking clean. The expected yield of this recipe is usually around 8 slices, but depending on how thick you ended up cutting the roll, it could vary by 1 or 2.  Finally, sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of corn starch onto the outside of the roll as to resemble powdered sugar.

Setting up and Decorating the Loaf

Once you have sliced your loaf, give the bubble bars time to set up. You can tell when the bubble bars are ready when they are hard to the tough.  When we made the bubble bars, it took them approximately 48-72 hours to setup completely. It can take longer for your results to setup depending on the environment of the room. Create these bubble bars in a dry room with low humidity, and at room temperature. This helps the bubble bars setup.

Using the Finished Pumpkin Roll

Your pumpkin roll bubble bars should now be ready to use. These bubble bars should make a great home decoration for the Halloween or Fall season. They are great to put out as a decoration in your bathroom next to the tub. You can also leave them on your sink countertop for decorations too.  To use the bubble bars, take one of the slices that you cut up, and crumble it under warm running bathwater. These bubble bars tend to give an inviting appearance to your bathtub, while also filling it up with bubble. In addition, they will leave your skin feeling soft and silky.  It’s a fun recipe for any age group, and anyone would enjoy soaking with this Nature’s Garden recipe.

Does the pumpkin roll bubble bar project leave you craving the real thing? If you want to make one of your own, here’s a delicious recipe from Jamie at My Baking Addition. She will show you just how the real thing is made.  I highly recommend this pumpkin roll recipe!  It is quite possible the best pumpkin roll I have every tried!

Bailey-Favorite-FragrancesBailey Favorite Fragrance Oils

Hello everyone, my name is Bailey! I work at Natures Garden during my summer breaks and have greatly enjoyed my time here. Although I may not work the entirety of the year, I still feel as though I’m part of the Nature’s Garden team. I’ve had quite a bit of fun here and have enjoyed being a part of many recipes. While working here I’ve found the following fragrances to appeal to me far more than any others.

Sun Ripened RaspberrySUN RIPENED RASPBERRY FRAGRANCE OIL

This fragrance oil begins with top notes of ripened raspberries, red delicious apples, and oranges; followed by middle notes of ylang ylang, rose, greenery, and tagette; well-rounded with base notes of vanilla beans.

With this fragrance oil, elegance is the first word that comes to mind when describing this upscale, complex fragrance blend.  A beautiful arrangement of sophisticated florals including peony petals, muguet lily and silk flowers (mimosa flowers), floral sandalwood and floral musk, with effervescent top notes of fresh peach, mandarin, and neroli blossoms.  This fragrance is similar to the scent of caress daily silkening.

PEPPERMINT PATTY FRAGRANCE OIL

This fragrance oil is the aroma of creamy peppermint and vanilla with a strong down of bitter sweet chocolate.

There are a plethora of amazingly scented fragrances here at Natures Garden. Although these are definitely my ten favorite, there were many that made it very difficult for me to decide. Not only is there a wide variety of fragrances, but there’s an abundance of recipes and ideas that can be made into your favorite scents. In fact, I used one of my favorite fragrances, Lemon Sugar Fragrance Oil, in my spotlight project, Cold Fashioned Lemonade Soap. This was a blast for me to come up with and create. I hope you all have as much fun with your favorite fragrances as I do with mine!

Enlightened by Layla

This entry was posted in Enlightened with Layla, Natures Garden, Natures Garden News, positive thoughts, quality employees and tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on by .

DSC_0083Hello everyone!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Layla. Writing about myself is such a hard “assignment.” But here goes! I am 21 years old, love to travel, and have absolutely no clue what I want to do when I “grow up.” But really, who does? But I absolutely love working for Nature’s Garden. I am stoked to begin “Enlightened by Layla” and get to share my experiences here at Nature’s Garden with you! I love to be creative and make new crafts, and am excited for all of you to make these creations with me.

I graduated high school in 2010 and went on to attend college for interior design for one year. I love to have fun, especially when I get the chance to create new and exciting things like our products!

I try my best to always look at life with a positive attitude. Positivity is definitely my key to overcoming obstacles. I absolutely love inspirational quotes. One of my all-time favorites: “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.” –Marilyn Monroe

Two of my favorite things to do are reading and shopping. Whenever I have down time, I love to cram my nose into a good book. Especially a good romance with a bit of mystery involved. I have a clothing and jewelry obsession, I just can’t seem to help myself. But really, what girl can? Vintage and thrift store finds are my absolute favorite. Bargain shopping is awesome, one of the projects on my to-do list is learning to become an extreme couponer. I mean come on! Who doesn’t love to save money? And couponing can save you lots and lots of it!

When I finally take the time to learn the couponing skill, I plan to do shopping trips not only for myself, but also for others. I love to help others and have participated in foundations such as Family Promise and Salvation Army. These two organizations and also the Ronald McDonald House foundation are extremely close to my heart. I believe that whenever you have the chance to give forward, take it! What goes around, comes around!

I have worked as a waitress in the past, and that experience has taught me that each day is different and you never know what is going to happen! I love people and am very easy to talk to and get along with! So don’t be afraid to ask me questions about Nature’s Garden and our creations!

Some of my favorite movies are My Life in Ruins, Grease, The Blind Side, Remember the Titans, Pitch Perfect, and almost anything Disney. I’m a sucker for musicals and romance! I love all kinds of music as well, at the moment I have been listening non-stop to Timeflies Tuesday.

I have been to many places around the world, from France to the United Arab Emirates. I spent time in France on foreign exchanges, and have also been to Germany, Holland, and Spain. Like I said, I love to travel!

I hope this helped you to get know me, I would love to get to know each and every one of you! You are all very important to us! Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any thoughts or questions you have about our products here at Nature’s Garden! Have a marvelous day and enjoy Enlightened by Layla!

Our First Stick Blender

our first stick blender

This blog is dedicated in remembrance of our first official soap making utensil, Mr. Smooth Operator.

3 years ago, we started to dabble into the wonderful world of soap making. As we learned all about this art, researching the steps, ingredients, and supplies; we welcomed a new soaping utensil into our lives. It was lovingly named: Mr. Smooth Operator. He was our first stick blender.

Today, with tears in our eyes; we lay Mr. Smooth Operator to rest.

Mr. Smooth Operator was an extremely hard worker, who took on each soaping endeavor with vigor and vitality. He was there for us through thick and thin batch, and never blinked an eye when it came to having to put forth extra effort; asking for nothing in return.

Looking back, there were times when we took Mr. Smooth Operator for granted; especially early on when we were new to the soaping game. But, he never held that against us. He was a happy, go getting fellow, who lived a life of sacrifice. He would take on the task of hard labor and getting dirty; all in order for us to be clean with our soap.

He was the best stick blender.

Strongly rooted in a family that strives on performance, the Cuisinart Smart Stick Immersion Blender series should be proud. Not only did Mr. Smooth Operator fulfill his calling as a stick blender, but he willingly exceeded expectations every day. And boy, were there some days that he put in the overtime.

Through all of these amazing qualities, Mr. Smooth Operator quickly became a part of our soaping family. He has set the standard of quality work (and easy clean up), leaving behind an awful big pair of shoes for the next stick blender to fill.

Mr. Smooth Operator will truly be missed by everyone on the creative team at Natures Garden.

We hope that in his passing, he is out there somewhere blending huge batters of joy and happiness. Achieving immersions, young and fresh as the day he was first opened and used.
