20 Craft Ideas for St. Patricks Day20 Craft Ideas for St. Patricks Day

Since Saint Patricks Day is right around the corner from us, we have some recipes themed for the holiday we wanted to share. We love being creative all year round, but we think there is no time better for it than on and around the holidays! There are so many different crafts you can make for each holiday. Today we are going to be talking about 20 Craft Ideas for St. Patricks Day. All of these have been handmade by the staff here at Natures Garden and include candles, soap, bath bombs and more. St. Patricks Day can be such a fun time and we had a blast making holiday themed projects. We hope you enjoy each of our ideas!

St. Patricks Day Candle RecipeSt. Patricks Day Candle Recipe

The first recipe we want to dive into is this St. Patricks Day Candle. You will need to get our Golden Foods Soy Wax 464 in the ten pound size, beeswax white pastilles, NG Aloe and White Lilac Fragrance Oil, and green spectrum liquid candle dye. The fragrance in this candle is layered with top notes of petitgrain, bergamot, and ozonic notes. There are middle notes of tuberose, lilac, and lily of the valley. The base notes include musk, oak moss, amber, and sweet vanilla. This is a fun recipe that does not take up too much time. It smells great and is a perfect representation of Saint Patricks Day with the four leaf clover!

Mint Chocolate Chip Chip Ice Cream Bath Fizzies RecipeMint Chocolate Chip Chip Ice Cream Bath Fizzies Recipe

Next, is our mint chocolate chip bath fizzies recipe. These are a fun alternative to traditional round bath bombs. With this recipe, you can make 24 mini bath fizzy scoops! The directions are super simple to follow and this is a great place to start if you are a beginner. These tiny ice cream scoops work very similarly to bath bombs. They use the same common ingredients such as baking soda, citric acid, and corn starch to create fizzing and bubbles in the bath. Other ingredients used to make these include shea butter, grape seed oil, and Peppermint Patty Fragrance Oil. This fragrance is the perfect scent for these minty scoops. They smell like a combination of peppermint, vanilla, and bittersweet chocolate. All you need to do is pop these in the bath and you will be ready to go!

Pistachio Melt and Pour Soap RecipePistachio Melt and Pour Soap Recipe

As you are probably aware, melt and pour soap is one of the easiest recipes you can make! Our website has several exciting soap recipes just like this one. This pistachio melt and pour recipe was made with our diamond clear base in combination with our cocoa butter base. These both add a nice creamy lather and soapy suds to your finished product. We scented our soap with the very fitting Natures Garden Original Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil. Your soap will smell like pistachios, almonds, honey, heliotrope, and a creamy vanilla custard. When it is finished, your pistachio melt and pour soap will look good enough to eat!

Rainbow Bath Salts RecipeRainbow Bath Salts Recipe

This is one of my favorite bath recipes at Natures Garden! These rainbow bath salts look spectacular from the way that they are layered in the jars. This recipe is the perfect representation of the rainbow you find a pot of gold at the end of! We scented these bath salts with our Celestial Fragrance Oil, which is a layered fragrance. It has top notes of orange, eucalyptus, and pineapple. The middle notes include violet, sage, thyme, lily, and jasmine. The woodsy base notes are cedar, sandalwood, patchouli, musk, oakmoss, and vetiver. One of the ingredients for these bath salts is SCI, which is why these will leave your skin feeling silky smooth.

Golden Clover Bath Bombs RecipeGolden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe

Next, we are introducing these golden clover bath bombs. These are the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! This recipe creates four bath bombs that smell like Ginger Lime Fragrance Oil. We colored these using our Yellow Oxide FUN soap colorant, and coated them in 24K gold mica pigment to make them shimmer! When you add these fizzy bombs to the bath, you will see some tiny specks of gold and feel extra luxurious.

St. Patty's Day Cold Process Soap RecipeSt. Patty’s Day Cold Process Soap Recipe

The next recipe is our St. Patty’s Day themed cold process soap. It uses our English Ivy Fragrance Oil, which is a combination of morning dew, green forest notes, a touch of floral, and earthy musk. This fragrance truly represents the greenery scent of St. Patricks Day. We used oils with great qualities to them in this soap, including coconut 76, palm, castor, olive pomace, and sweet almond. Each provides different benefits to the soap, but make great additions to lather and conditioning properties for your skin!

Green Beer Candle RecipeGreen Beer Candle Recipe

One of the traditions of Saint Patricks Day is to drink green beer. Since we already had made a regular beer candle, we wanted to create a green beer candle for this holiday! We have the perfect fragrance oil for this St. Patty’s recipe, called Green Irish, which is comparable to the ever popular Green Irish Tweed. There are very few ingredients involved with this candle, which makes it an easy recipe to follow and recreate. We have separate instructions listed for the beer froth if you would like to add this touch!

Spearmint Soap RecipeSpearmint Soap Recipe

I personally love the smell of spearmint, and if you do too, you will really enjoy this soap recipe. Our Spearmint Fragrance Oil has a refreshing minty aroma, which is believed to carry benefits to improve concentration and productivity. This spearmint soap combines quality oils with shea butter and spearmint leaf to create a soap that feels and is great for your skin.

Pot O Gold Candle RecipePot O Gold Candle Recipe

This pot o gold candle recipe is another one of my favorites! It is an absolutely adorable product that is so fun to create. We used several colors from our spectrum liquid candle dyes to make this, including red, black, yellow, blue, green, and purple. When you light your candle it smells of Green Clover and Aloe. It has a fresh citrus and jasmine scent complimented by a woodsy sweet musk background.

Clam Shell Kiwi Sugar Cubes RecipeClam Shell Kiwi Sugar Cubes Recipe

These kiwi sugar cubes are so easy to make! They are made with grape seed oil, apricot kernel oil, coconut oil 76, shea butter melt and pour soap, along with a few more ingredients. Our fruity Kiwi Fragrance Oil was also used to scent these sugar cubes. These are great to use on the body, but maybe too harsh to use on the face. All you need to do is break some of the cubes out of their container, run underwater, and apply to your skin!

Mojito Bath Bomb RecipeMojito Bath Bomb Recipe

Another one of our recipes is this mojito scented bath bomb. Our Mojito Fragrance Oil is a best seller and is a nice combination of lime, sugar, mint leaves, and rum. This is one of our more herbal homemade recipes, involving different clay powders and our spearmint leaf, cut and sifted. When you make this recipe, you will get seven bath bombs out of it.

Lucky Leprechaun Face Mask RecipeLucky Leprechaun Face Mask Recipe

Now for a change of pace, we will talk about our lucky leprechaun facial mask! If you are involved in this industry, you probably are really interested in skincare products. This face mask is a great addition to any skincare routine because it exfoliates, moisturizes, and refreshes the skin. It contains French green clay, Bentonite clay, and Spirulina powders, along with some essential oils and leaf powders. The combination of quality cosmetic ingredients in this mask will really freshen up the surfaces of your skin.

Rose Petal Bath Melts RecipeRose Petal Bath Melts Recipe

Our rose petal bath melts are definitely a game changer. With a combination of shea butter, mango butter, and cocoa butter, these are moisturizing to the extreme degree. Our recipe makes 12 herbal bath melts that contain both rose petals and parsley leaf. We used another Natures Garden Original fragrance for these, Coco Mango. You will come out of the bath smelling fruity with strawberry, mango, papaya, coconut, and vanilla.

Lime Cupcake Cold Process Soap RecipeLime Cupcake Cold Process Soap Recipe

We are always finding inspiration from food and dessert recipes we see online. These lime cupcake cold process soaps look and smell like authentic cupcakes! They are scented with our Agave Lime Fragrance Oil and topped with melt and pour lime slices, which add even more to its authenticity.

Rainbow Bubble Bars RecipeRainbow Bubble Bars Recipe

We have even more bath recipes for you, like these rainbow bubble bars that are so unique. This is another recipe that we added SCI into, which helps these to soften the skin and leave it feeling like silk. Taking a bath with these is nice and relaxing. They have been scented with our Rain Fragrance Oil, which contains notes of wisteria, lily of the valley, hyacinth, and musk.

Green Apple Candy Bath Bomb RecipeGreen Apple Candy Bath Bomb Recipe

This green apple candy bath bomb is an easy recipe to prepare. It is made using baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salt, bentonite clay, and apricot kernel oil. We scented it with another one of our best selling fragrance oils, Green Apple Candy, which smells delicious. To get the light green color we desired these to have, we mixed together our Kelly Green and Neon Green FUN soap colorants.

Leprechaun Hat Soap RecipeLeprechaun Hat Soap Recipe

Our leprechaun hat soap is one of my favorites that we are talking about today. This craft is absolutely perfect for St. Patricks Day because it cannot get much more festive than this. This soap was made with the Diamond Clear base and Yogurt base, which provide lather, exfoliation, and softening properties. It takes a few of our molds to create this hat shape: the 6 cavity muffin, square, and basic square molds. The soap smells of the delicious Apple Happy Camper Candy Fragrance Oil, which is a combination of several fruits.

Rainbow Melt and Pour Soap RecipeRainbow Melt and Pour Soap Recipe

This rainbow melt and pour soap is another one that is a bit more advanced. It is a regular melt and pour at the bottom, topped with a whipped soap base, and a handmade rainbow piece. This is a very fun recipe to make and allows you to explore your creative side, so have fun with it!

Basil Sage Mint Bubble Bars RecipeBasil Sage Mint Bubble Bars Recipe

These basil sage mint bubble bars are very similar to the rainbow bubble bars. It will make you eight bars that provide skin softening properties from the SCI they contain. We also added peppermint leaf powder and basil leaf to give them an herbal element.

Castile Hot Process Soap RecipeCastile Hot Process Soap Recipe

Lastly, we wanted to mention one of our hot process soap recipes, since we have been talking about melt and pour and cold process. Hot process cures much faster than cold process because an element of heat is added. This green castile soap uses the natural moisturizer sodium lactate, spirulina powder, and olive oil pomace. This is a great soap to use on all skin types.

Melt and Pour Soap Making SuppliesMelt and Pour Soap Making Supplies

One of the most common ways to create soap is to use melt and pour soap bases. We are going to be discussing all of the melt and pour soap making supplies that you will need to get started on some projects! Natures Garden has a ton of recipes, useful information, and materials on our website to help you out with soap making. As far as melt and pour, there are eleven soap bases that we carry for you to choose from. A couple of the ones we have are Shea Butter, Goat’s Milk, and Cocoa Butter. We also have some classes on our website that will help you to succeed, which are especially useful for beginner soap makers. Our Easy Directions for Making Melt and Pour Soap class will provide you with a step by step tutorial on how to make a puppy paw soap. The other class we have, How to Use Melt and Pour Soap, will teach you how to make agave lime soap.

Easy Directions for Melt and Pour: Puppy Paw Soap

There are only a few ingredients that you will need to make this recipe. In order to, you will need the 1 oz Quick Order Da Bomb Soap Dye, two pounds of Quick Order Melt and Pour Soap, and the Square Loaf Molds. The Natures Garden website has each of these ingredients readily available to all of our customers. The craft equipment you need to make melt and pour soap include a bowl, a cutting board, knife, measuring utensils and mixing spoons. Other ingredients that might be necessary are soap dyes, body safe fragrance oil, rubbing alcohol, and soap molds.

After selecting the soap base that you want to use, cut it up into cubes. Add them to your microwave safe bowl and melt them in 30 second increments until the soap is fully melted. Then, add in colorant if you want to, and a Natures Garden body safe fragrance oil. For this pet safe soap, we used the scent Pooch Smooch. This fragrance brings together a combination of sweet melon, cucumber, and hints of orange. After adding these, stir the mixture to incorporate everything together. Then, pour it into your soap mold cavities. Sometimes air bubbles can appear from pouring. To fix and remove these, spray the product with rubbing alcohol. Now, you can allow for your soap to set up! You can either let them cool down naturally, or place them in the refrigerator to speed the process up. This is one example to show just how easy it is to make recipes using melt and pour soap!

How to Use Melt and Pour Soap

We have another class on the Natures Garden website, which also shows how to make recipes using melt and pour soap. In this class, we show you how to make scented soap. For this recipe, you will need two pounds of the Quick Order Melt and Pour Soap, 1 oz of the Quick Order FUN Soap Colorants, a Natures Garden body safe fragrance oil, or a natural oil like Natural Vanilla Infusion (35 Fold), and the Basic Oval Soap Molds. Choose which ever soap base you want to work with from the eleven that we carry. Cut your base into cubes, place them in a bowl, and microwave in 30 second intervals until the soap is completely melted. Then, you can add a FUN soap colorant to it, some of the scented oil and stir. Pour the mixture into the oval molds and spray them with rubbing alcohol. Allow time for them to completely cool down. Once it has cooled down, you will have your finished product!

Melt and Pour Soap Kit

Natures Garden sells different kinds of kits that our customers can use to create a bunch of products and projects. One of these is our melt and pour soap kit to help you make homemade soap. With this kit, you can choose between either Goat’s Milk or Ultra Clear as your melt and pour soap base. It will come with a two pound slab of which ever one you choose. The kit also comes with four different samples of Natures Garden fragrance oils. Currently, we include Sweet Pea, Best Friends, Oatmeal Milk and Honey, and Lavender in this kit. Additionally, you will receive two Da Bomb liquid soap dyes in the colors currently, red and blue. Finally, this kit contains the oval decorative and angel heart soap molds. This kit makes it easy for beginners to start creating homemade soap. There is a full list of instructions included so that you can get started. Ordering additional fragrance oils, soap dyes, soap colorants, and different molds can give an endless variety to your soap making!

Our Soap Bases

Our eleven melt and pour soap bases are fairly similar to one another. They have a lot of the same ingredients and all of them are free of SLS, there are no added detergents, they are gluten free, and they have not been tested on animals. When made into soap, they lather nicely, creating plenty of bubbles and suds. These bases ease the process of soap making because making your soap will only take a few steps! Each of our bases follow the same steps. All you will need to do is cut the soap, melt it down in the microwave, and then add fragrance oil to it. Adding a scent can give more character to your product. As long as it is a body safe fragrance oil, you can choose which ever one you want from Natures Garden. You can also give character to your soap by making it colorful with a soap colorant. We sell FUN soap colorants in multiple shades, which make it easy to dye your products either light or dark.

Shea Butter Melt and Pour Soap

The first Natures Garden soap base we will discuss is Shea Butter. This is made up from vegetable glycerin, sodium stearate, sodium cocoate, sodium myristate, sunflower oil, coconut oil, palm oil, purified water, shea butter, and titanium dioxide. The combination of these ingredients creates a quality moisturizing soap product that will leave your skin feeling great. Additionally, shea butter can treat acne, reduce inflammation of the skin, and reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Since there a few holidays approaching, we wanted to share some recipes made from these soap bases that are relevant to this time of year! Our Hearts a Flutter Soap and Easter Bunny Soaps Recipe are made using this luscious base of shea butter.

Goat’s Milk Melt and Pour Soap

Our Goat’s Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base contains coconut oil, palm oil, and sunflower oil. It also has glycerin, goat’s milk, titanium dioxide, and germall plus, which is a common cosmetic preservative. Goat’s milk is an ingredient commonly added to lotions, creams, and lip balms because it is incredibly moisturizing and hydrating for the skin. It is great for people who have sensitive skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema. Goat’s milk removes dead skin cells from different surfaces on the body to provide smooth and healthy skin. Check out this Valentines Day Bouquet Recipe craft and Solid Sugar Scrub Recipe product that we made using this base!

SLS Free Glycerin Melt and Pour Soap

Although all of the Natures Garden melt and pour bases are free of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), we decided to call this base SLS free. Each of our bases are made of 99.5% glycerin and pure deodorized double distilled coconut oil. Other ingredients in this product are propylene glycol, sodium stearate, sorbitol, sodium myristate, triethanolamine, sodium laurate, sodium cocoate, and purified water. The color of this base can vary from diamond clarity to a slightly cloudy yellowish. We have a cute and fun craft to make that is great for Valentines Day. Our Heart Soaps with Love Message Recipe is a perfect gift for the upcoming holiday. It makes red, pink, and white soap hearts that have a hidden, laminated love message for your significant other between them.

Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap

This cocoa butter melt and pour soap base contains glycerin, coconut oil, palm oil, and theobroma cacao (cocoa butter). Cocoa butter is the fat that gets separated out from cocoa beans. It has luxurious qualities to it, which is why it is commonly added to lip balms, lip glosses, lotions, scrubs, and soap. It is very nourishing and moisturizing for all skin types, including those with sensitive skin conditions like dermatitis. Both the Chocolate Dipped Bath Fizzies Recipe and our Vanilla Sugar Scrub Cubes Recipe on the website are easy to follow recipes that use this cocoa butter melt and pour soap base.

Hemp Oil Melt and Pour Soap

Our hemp oil soap base is unscented, contains no SLS, and no added detergents. This base is made up of vegetable glycerin, coconut oil, palm oil, sunflower oil, cannabis sativa seed (hemp) oil, titanium dioxide, and a few other ingredients. Hemp oil can moisturize the skin without clogging your pores. It also hydrates the skin and can regulate the skin’s production of oil. This soap base can make products such as our Bamboo Hemp Soap and Easter Egg Soap recipes.

Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap

The diamond clear melt and pour soap base is used in so many of the products listed on our website. One of these is the Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled Soap Recipe project, which is another one that is great for Valentines Day. We also have the Cherry Chocolate Soap Recipe. This base can provide healthier looking skin, attracts moisture to skin, and can treat oily skin conditions. It has superior lathering qualities to it and makes your skin feel soft. Just like with the SLS free base, the diamond clear soap may range in color between diamond like clarity to a yellowish and slightly cloudy shade.

Honey Melt and Pour Soap

This honey soap base comes in a golden yellow honey colored slab. Some ingredients it contains are honey, glycerin, coconut oil, water, palm oil, and sunflower oil. Honey is a product that provides a lot of benefits to the skin. It is naturally antibacterial, which helps to prevent acne. Additionally, honey has antioxidants that can reduce the appearance of aging and wrinkles, and is soothing on the skin. Our Loofah Honey Melt and Pour Soap Recipe was made with this base.

Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap

Like the others, this oatmeal melt and pour soap has vegetable glycerin, sodium stearate, palm oil, coconut oil, and water. It also contains avena sativa (oat kernel), which gives it the oatmeal name. Oat kernel extract cleanses the skin naturally by removing dirt and oil from its surfaces. It can also reduce the size of pores and smooth the texture of your skin. One of the recipes we have on the website that was made with our oatmeal soap base are these Peeps Bunny Cupcake Soaps, which are fun to make for Easter.

The last couple of Natures Garden melt and pour soap bases that we did not mention in this blog are the Yogurt, Mango Butter, and Soya. There are also plenty of other recipes attached to each of these on our website for you to check out!

Whipped Soap BaseWhipped Soap Recipes

Have you created any whipped soap recipes?  If you haven’t, would you like to add a new product to your line of handcrafted soaps?  Often, customers ask how whipped soap is made.  The truth is it is actually very simple when using a base such as the whipped soap base.  Below, we will talk about whipped soap and how you can use it your handmade bath and body products.  In fact, not only can the whipped soap be used alone, it can also be used to create foaming scrubs.  Another use for the whipped soap is soap frosting when creating melt and pour soap.  So, read on to find some fun and creative ways to use whipped soap.

Whipped Soap Recipes: Creating Body Frostings

Let’s start by talking about creating body frostings.  Body frostings are simple to create and can be used just like soap.  However, they have the addition of powdered sugar.  We are often asked why the powdered sugar is added to the body frosting.  Well, the powdered sugar will help to thicken the base just slightly so that it has more of a frosting consistency.  Read on to find out the different ways that we have created body frostings.

Foaming Body Frosting Recipe

Foaming Body Frosting RecipeFirst, we have the foaming body frosting recipe.  This soap recipe is a great way to use the whipped soap base from Natures Garden.  This particular soap frosting uses a body safe fragrance oil along with the FUN Soap Colorants to give the soap a little color.  Finally, we topped the whipped soap with decorative sprinkles for a fun twist and an added bonus.

Creme Brulee Whipped Soap Recipe

Creme Brulee Body Frosting RecipeNow, we have the Creme Brulee Whipped Soap Recipe.  This whipped soap is scented with the Creme Brulee Fragrance Oil.  In addition, we added powdered sugar to thicken the soap slightly and give it a gentle exfoliation.  We also topped this soap with brown sugar and a blackberry embed to give it an adorable finishing touch.  This soap embed is created with the Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap.  It also uses the deep purple FUN Soap Colorant along with the black oxide FUN Soap Colorant to give the soap embed a dark purple color.

Chocolate Foaming Body Frosting Recipe

Chocolate Foaming Body Frosting RecipeThe Chocolate Foaming Body Frosting Recipe uses Creamy Chocolate Cupcake Fragrance Oil.  This fragrance begins with creamy top notes of bittersweet chocolate and buttercream.  Then, it is followed by warm middle notes of corn syrup and amaretto.  Finally, it is well rounded with base notes of vanilla sugar, malt, dark cocoa, and espresso powder.  In addition, this body frosting uses organic cocoa powder to give the whipped soap a natural chocolate color.

Mango Tangerine Bath Icing Recipe

Mango Tangerine Bath Icing RecipeNext, we have the Mango Tangerine Bath Icing.  This whipped soap recipe is fabulous on its own.  However, when you factor in the Mango Tangerine Fragrance Oil, it takes it over the top.  This strong mango tangerine scent is the as a tropical blend of mango mixed with zesty clementines and red raspberries blended with sweet vanilla.

Juicy Lemon Foaming Bath Whip Recipe

Juicy Lemon Foaming Bath Whip RecipeAnother great way to make the whipped soap is the Juicy Lemon Foaming Bath Whip Recipe.  This soap making recipe uses the whipped soap base to create a lemon scented bath soap.  This whipped soap uses Juicy Lemon Fragrance Oil.  Juicy Lemon fragrance oil is the tart aroma of lemon.  The scent has a distinct lemon citron top note, a lilac nuance and lemon rind middle note, finishing with a gingery, woody base note.  In addition, we have added powdered sugar which will slightly thicken the base and give a very gentle exfoliation.

Whipped Soap Recipes: Shaving Cream Recipes

Another wonderful way to use the whipped soap base is in shaving cream recipes.  To create these type of recipes, you simply add a couple of ingredients to the base.  First, you want to add a clay.  Cosmetic clay will add glide to the finished product.  So, you can see why this is the perfect type of additive for shaving soap.  In addition, we have added cosmetic butter to each one.  Whether it be shea, cocoa, or mango butter, it really helps to give the shaving cream extra moisturizing power.

Whipped Shaving Cream Recipe

whipped shaving soapNext, we have the whipped shaving cream recipe.  We have added bentonite clay to this recipe to help pull impurities from the skin.  In addition, this cosmetic clay will give the whipped soap a fabulous glide that is perfect for shaving.  We have also added mango butter to the shaving soap for its moisturizing properties.  We scented this whipped shaving soap with Knock Out Fragrance Oil.  Knock out Fragrance Oil is a spicy, rich, warm woody fragrance with bright notes of lime, bergamot, and pineapple enhanced with notes of rose, muguet lily, and jasmine. These notes are sitting on masculine base notes of green moss, dark musk, cedar, sandalwood, and amber.  It is a true knock out!

Whipped Rose Clay Shaving Cream Recipe

Whipped Rose Clay Shaving Soap RecipeAnother fabulous recipe using the whipped soap base is the whipped rose clay shaving cream recipe.  This whipped soap recipe uses rose clay to give the shaving soap a wonderful glide.  In addition, rose clay is perfect for those with sensitive skin since it helps reduce irritation and help with circulation.  Also, this soap has the addition of shea butter to truly pamper your skin.  It is scented with Strike a Pose Fragrance Oil to get your legs runway ready.  Finally, the rose clay gives this whipped shaving soap a gorgeous pink color!

Whipped Soap Recipes: Foaming Sugar Scrub Recipes

Next, the whipped soap recipe can be formulated to create a foaming sugar scrub.  A foaming sugar scrub is created simply by adding sugar to the base.  So, with the addition of granulated white sugar or brown sugar, you can create a quick product that will leave your skin feeling clean, soft, and exfoliated.  You can also add salt to create to the base to create a scrub with extra exfoliating power.

Toffee Crunch Latte Foaming Sugar Scrub Recipe

Toffee Crunch Latte Foaming Sugar Scrub RecipeNow, we have the Toffee Crunch Latte Foaming Sugar Scrub Recipe.  This recipe uses powdered sugar and brown sugar.  So, this whipped soap is a gentle scrubbing soap the smells amazing.  In fact, this whipped soap is scented with Natures Garden’s Cafe Caramel Fragrance Oil.  This caramel scent is the aroma of fresh-brewed cappuccino.  So, the scent is filled with top notes of fresh brewed coffee and middle notes of heavy cream.  Finally, the scent is finished with sweet and sugary caramel.

Chocolate Bath Butter Scrub Recipe

Chocolate Bath Butter Scrub RecipeNext, we have the Chocolate Bath Butter Scrub Recipe. This whipped soap recipe is scented with Natures Garden’s Better Than Sex Cake Fragrance Oil.  In addition, this chocolate whipped soap uses Epsom salt to give the soap scrubbing qualities.  Finally, it has organic cocoa powder added.  This scent is blended with semi-sweet chocolate chips and laced with crunchy toffee bits to create this decadent treat.  Vanilla creme and butterscotch syrup create a luscious undertone, while hints of almond and coconut complete the yummy blend.

Foaming Sugar Scrub Recipe

Foaming Sugar Scrub RecipeThis foaming sugar scrub recipe uses white sugar to give the scrub a wonderful exfoliation.  In addition, this scrub is scented with Natures Garden’s Yummy Gummy Fragrance Oil.  The Yummy Gummy scent is a fruit medley of strawberries, raspberries, cherries, and tree ripe peaches squeezed with fresh lemons and essential oil of tangerine warmed by soft woods.

Whipped Soap Recipes: Soap Frosting Recipes

Now, I know what you are thinking, didn’t we already talk about body frosting?  Is this a typo?  The answer is no.  With the whipped soap base you can create a soap frosting that can be used to top your melt and pour soap or, in one case below, to create a rolled soap.  While all of the other whipped soap recipes that we have talked about can be simply placed in jars, these are a little different.  When the whipped soap is mixed with melt and pour soap, it can actually be used to top things like soap cupcakes.  In addition, it will setup and harden while still maintaining a frosting look.  When creating this type of recipe, we also add vegetable glycerin so that it still maintains some pliability.

Peeps Bunny Cupcake Soap Recipe

Peeps Bunny Cupcake Soap RecipeFirst, we have the Peeps Bunny Cupcake Soap Recipe.  This recipe is simply a cupcake that has been topped with the soap frosting that we talked about.  It uses Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap Base from Natures Garden.  In addition, we have added an mp Peeps bunny to the top and sprinkles to give the soap a decorative touch.  To be completely honest, this lemon scented soap is my absolute favorite.

Chocolate Orchid Melt and Pour Soap Recipe

Chocolate Orchid Melt and Pour Soap RecipeAnother way to use soap frosting is to top a soap loaf like we did in the Chocolate Orchid Melt and Pour Soap Recipe.  This soap loaf is topped with fluffy soap frosting.  It is also scented with the Chocolate Orchid Fragrance Oil from Natures Garden.  So, it smells AMAZING!  In addition, it has brown swirls embedded throughout and purple soap confetti to give it a festive look and feel.  Finally, it was topped with the soap frosting and brown and purple soap confetti was added to the top.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled Soap Recipe

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled Soap RecipeFinally, we have the Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled Soap Recipe.  This soap recipe can be difficult for beginners.  So, you definitely want to have some experience working with whipped soap recipes before attempting this soap recipe.  It is scented with Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Fragrance Oil.  It was inspired by this cake roll recipe from Spend With Pennies.  So, the chocolate colored portion of the roll was created with melt and pour soap.  We added vegetable glycerin to the mp soap to give it flexibility.  Then, we created pink soap frosting and placed it on top.  Once we had the soap frosting in place, we rolled the soap just like you would roll a pumpkin roll.  We topped the soap with the whipped soap frosting, using rubbing alcohol to help hold everything in place.  Finally, we drizzled the soap with white mp soap.

Macaroon Melt and Pour Soap Recipe

Macaroon Melt and Pour Soap RecipeFinally, we have the Macaroon Melt and Pour Soap Recipe.  Of course, we scented this mp soap recipe with Almond Macaroon Fragrance Oil from Natures Garden.  However, this soap recipe uses the whipped soap base to create little soap sandwiches that look like macaroons.  We used the whipped soap base to create a soap frosting and used the soap frosting as our cookie filling.

We hope that you have enjoyed learning about these whipped soap base recipes.  Perhaps you found a new way to use the base or a new craft recipe to try.  We would love to see how you have used the whipped soap base.  Tag us in your project pictures on Instagram or Twitter @ngscents.  You can also share your picture on our Facebook page.  We absolutely love hearing from our customers and seeing your creations!

What is Spinach Powder Used for? At Natures Garden we use herbs, like Spinach Leaf Powder, for creating all sorts of lovely cosmetic products. This powered herb is perfect for adding to your homemade soap supplies, lotion making supplies, and supplies for many more wonderful cosmetic recipes. Not only can you use spinach as a natural colorant, but it is full of great properties and nutrients for the entire body. You can eat fresh leaves of spinach and you can use the spinach in a powdered herb to nourish your body inside and out! This is sure to maximize the exposure of these beneficial vitamins and minerals to your entire body.  So, let’s get into what exactly the properties are that these healthy greens have for our bodies.

What is Spinach Powder Used for? Growing ConditionsWhat is Spinach Powder Used for? Growing Conditions

Spinach plants prefer to grow in cooler temperatures. For common spinach, you will want to plant in midsummer. If you have a mild winter, you could even plant in the fall. However, this depends on your climate. Either way, the soil should not be over 70 degrees Fahrenheit for your seeds. However, your spinach is able to survive all the way down to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Once your spinach sprouts are about two inches high, you should thin them to be about three inches apart. After this, all you have to do is water regularly and use mulch to keep them moist. You can harvest the leaves whenever they are big enough, but you should try to cut the outer leaves first. This will ensure that the middle leaves can continue to grow.

One wonderful tip for reducing damage due to leaf miners is to plant radishes. The radishes will not only distract the pests from your spinach, but the roots will continue to grow unaffected! While starting sprouts inside and transplanting them will be less appealing to pests like cutworms, there are other preventative measures you can take. For wireworms, can try to plant carrots nearby to trap these pests. Then, every few days after the carrot has reached maturity you can pull up the carrots, remove the worms, and replant the affected carrot. For flea beetles, you can try to lay reflective mulch or aluminum to ward them off. Also, there are baits, traps, and pesticides that you can get for your home garden for many kinds of major infestations.

What is Spinach Powder Used for?: Tips for Making Your Spinach Last

Here are a few tips on how to store your leafy, food grade spinach. First, you will want to pick out yellow and wilted leaves. Plus, you shouldn’t store things like, tomatoes, apples, or melons nearby, because the spinach is sensitive to the chemicals that these fruits produce. Also, make sure that you don’t wash your spinach before storing and you will want to add a paper towel to your container. These will both help keep the moisture levels down and prevent premature wilting.

While this will help you keep your spinach fresh longer, you don’t want to have to store spinach long. Studies on folate in spinach have shown that about half of this vitamin’s amount was gone after seven days. If you have a lot of spinach grown, then you can try freezing to extend your storage time to about two or three months. Juniper Berry Benefits: Growing ConditionsJuniper Berry Benefits: Growing Conditions

Juniper Berry plants are most common in the Northern Hemisphere and they come in a few different varieties. You can tell these varieties apart by their heights, as they are either one and a half feet tall, four feet tall, six feet tall, or twenty-five feet tall. So, these plants can vary from the sizes of small shrubs to large trees. Since they are similar to conifers, they have needles or scales that are useful for helping the plant survive droughts. But, this means that the Juniper plant can’t handle being over watered. If they have wet soil that doesn’t drain well, they will suffer. So, you should never need to water your plant unless there have been severe drought conditions. Although Junipers prefer acidic soil, they can grow in a variety of soil types. Also, they will prefer to be exposed to full sun.

Juniper Berry Benefits: Harvesting Your Juniper Berries

First, make sure that you do in fact have an edible variety of juniper before you begin your harvest. The most common edible variety of juniper is Juniperus communis, but there are many varieties out there that are poisonous or bitter tasting. After you are sure you have the correct tree, you will want to pick the soft berries that are a blue/black color. Make sure that you don’t pick unripe berries as they won’t dry properly. Then, you can dry your berries by allowing them to set inside at room temperature for approximately three weeks. Once the berries are dried you will need to remove any berries that are brown or have viable entrance holes. These berries will have bugs living inside them. Lastly, you can either use your berries immediately or store them in an airtight jar for up to a year.

Juniper Berry Benefits: Caution for Anyone that has Apple Trees

You may want to hold off on planting a juniper berry tree/shrub if you have an apple tree. There is a fungus that can infect your apple tree called cedar-apple rust. It will begin growing on the juniper trees or shrubs first. Then, the fungus can make its way to any of the apple trees nearby. So, you would be putting your apple trees at risk by planting juniper nearby. However, anyone without apple trees won’t have to worry about this disease transfer.
