shea butter Shea Butter

Hey all you creative crafty people out there! Yes, I’m talking to you! Do you love making soaps? Have you ever used shea butter in your products before? Well, you should! This great butter has many amazing benefits and it is absolutely wonderful for your skin! Here at Nature’s Garden, we offer refined shea butter , unrefined shea butter, as well as shea butter melt and pour soap! We also offer many great free recipes made with shea butter!

Shea butter originally comes from Western Africa, from the nuts of the shea tree. The tree itself is considered sacred because of the amazing things it can do for your skin, beauty, health and hair. Legend says that even the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti was said to owe her magnificent beauty to shea butter. There are many fantastic skin and hair care benefits of shea butter, and it can be used in a wide variety of bath and body products. Some of these include soaps, lotions, lip gloss, scrubs, and even lip balms. Shea butter works to deeply moisturize your skin, is great for scarring, wrinkles and fine lines, and helps your skin to produce more collagen. Shea butter is rich in many constituents such as vitamin D and E, and provitamin A and helps to strengthen and protect your skin and also protects it from harmful UV rays. Shea butter is a great antioxidant and even helps to enhance your physical endurance! It has many anti-inflammatory properties, and works to heal small cuts and burns. When used for hair care, shea butter helps to protect the hair from ultraviolet rays, repairs any damage caused by the sun and harsh weather, and works to soften and revitalize brittle and damaged hair. This great butter works to promote new hair growth, moisturizes the hair, and even works to get rid of any excess oils on the scalp.

Our natural shea butter here at Nature’s Garden consists of the following fatty acids: stearic (40%), oleic (48%), linoleic (6%), and palmitic (5%). basil Basil

Hi everyone! Are you looking for new crafts? Maybe a new herb to use in your bath and body products? Or maybe it’s your first time making soaps or bath and body products and you’re looking for a good herb to use? Well here it is! How about basil? Basil is a wonderful herb that can be used in a variety of ways in many different products and industries! It is most well known for being used in foods and for culinary purposes, but it can also be used for medicinal purposes, skin care, hair care, bath and body products and even soaping!

Basil, or otherwise known as ocimum basilicum, is an herb in the family Lamiaceae that is mainly used for culinary purposes. It is native to India, New Guinea, Southeast Asia, and China. It was first domesticated in India and has been cultivated for over 5,000 years there. The word basil comes from the Greek word βασιλεύ, meaning “king.” In India, it is believed that placing basil in the mouths of the dying ensures that they will reach God. Ancient Egyptians believed that basil would open the gates of heaven for their loved ones and in Europe, basil is placed in the hands of the dead to ensure a safe journey.

There are many medicinal benefits to using basil as well. There are anti-septic properties in the leaves that help treat wounds, ulcers, and cuts. It is also rich in vitamin A which helps to treat many eye problems such as sore eyes and blindness. Basil also helps to prevent glaucoma, cataracts, and degeneration of the eyes. Basil tea is said to help promote milk production in nursing mothers and it is said that mothers should take basil right before or after birth to promote blood circulation. The leaves are rich in phytonutrients and healing oils that treat malarial and dengue fevers. The leaves also help the body to form new blood cells and renew energy levels that can help stop weight gain. Basil can also be used to treat colds, sore throats, throat and mouth infections, headaches and migraines, restlessness and the pain caused from chicken pox, measles and small pox. It also helps to sharpen the mind and is a great stress reliever.

Many bath and body can contain basil as well. Many common products are lotions, ointments, creams, massage oils, bath teas, bath bombs, bath teas, facials tonics and masks, and shampoos and conditioners. Basil is a great exfoliant for the skin, and also helps to treat acne and prevent blackheads, and treats many skin infections and even ringworm. It can prevent gray hair and hair loss and also gives hair a better luster when used as an infusion in shampoos and conditioners. Basil also helps to strengthen the hair and rejuvenate the hair follicles. When basil is used for soap making, it gives the soap a wonderful aroma, is a gentle skin exfoliant and treats acne problems.

Wondering how to find this awesome product on our site? Just type “basil” in the search bar! That will take you directly to a page titled “Search Results for “Basil.”” It shows our ground basil leaf, and all of our wonderful basil fragrances! Our basil class is also available right there! Enjoy! And watch out for more Enlightened by Layla! Looking for new recipes? Check out all of our free classes and recipes!

fragrance bottlesFragrance by Category

For all you crafters out there, how many different fragrance oils have you tried? Too many to count? Do you tend to choose a new one for every project you do? Or do you like to stick with the same few fragrances? Have you thought about expanding your horizons and trying new ones but were overwhelmed by the amount we offer? Don’t worry, we may have over 800 fragrance oils, but we have categorized them in many different ways to make it easy as possible for you to choose! Let me help you figure it all out!

If you are a returning customer, you may remember that on our old website we had an option on the homepage titled Fragrance by Category. The redesign of the new site may have you worried that we will not have an option like that anymore to categorize our many fragrance oils. Have no fear! Not only do we have Fragrance by Category, we have even more options that help to categorize them! On the top of the homepage, you will see a section easily titled Fragrance Oils. Simply place your mouse over that tab, that will show you a drop box for all of our options on our site specific to fragrances. In the middle column of the drop box, you will see one category labeled “Fragrance by Category”. If you click on that, it will take you to our Fragrance by Type page. We have sorted our fragrances into many different categories like Bakery Scents and Spring and Summer Scents. If you’re looking for a certain fragrance like Madam President for example, just click on Political Scents!

fragrance oils drop box on NG site

fragrances by type page on NG site

The Fragrance by Category link is not the only way we have to get to the categories we offer though! In the drop box, do you see the cute little picture underneath Fragrance by Category? The little fragrance bottles with the oranges and coffee? If you click on that picture it will take you right to the Fragrance by Type page too! Also, right below the picture in the drop box, it says FRAGRANCE BY CATEGORY. That link will take you right to Fragrance by Type as well.

At Nature’s Garden we do whatever we can to make our customers happy. We have two brand new categories on the Fragrance by Type page that have been added simply because of customer requests! Please go and check out our Top Candle Scents and our Top CP Soap Scents! Are you still not sure what fragrance to pick from the category you’ve chosen? Or maybe you’re wondering what fragrances in that category other people like the most? At the bottom of the page for that category, we have a section called “Top Sellers For This Category.” We show the four top sellers for each category in those sections.

We value each and every one of our customers and want to make everything as easy for you as possible! We love to hear about all of your successes, and please get in touch with us if you have any problems of questions! And keep watching for more Enlightened by Layla!
