Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe

There is something about Autumn and the holidays that make you want to create a warm, cozy home. I suppose it is similar to hibernating. If you are going to spend most of your time indoors during the cold weather, then making your home a snug place to come home to is your hibernation time. There is nothing better than walking in the front door of your home to warmth, family, pets and good smells to make you feel safe and happy to be there! Nature’s Garden’s Pecan Pie Wax Melts recipe will definitely give your home a wonderful, inviting smell of warm butter, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted pecans.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: A History of Pecan PiePecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: A History of Pecan Pie

While any information on how the Pecan Pie came to be is a little sketchy, it is for certain, that it started out as one type of dessert similar to the ingredients that were used and then evolved into a true Southern dessert using staple ingredients that were native to the area. The basis of this pie is sugar, butter, syrup (pre-Karo syrup days, it was cane syrup) and eggs. This is the basic recipe for Chess Pie, which has its own origin. However, the addition of pecans and whoever thought of adding it is a mystery that will never be solved, but let’s thank whoever felt like spicing up their dessert! A personal favorite addition to my pecan pie? Chocolate drizzle and a dollop of ice vanilla ice cream! Mmmmm!  However, our inspiration for this project came from these pecan mini pies from Sugar Hero.  While, of course, our wax melts aren’t edible, her mini pecan pies are simply AMAZING! So, if this wax tart recipe, and sent leaves your belly grumbling, give her recipe a try.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Let’s Talk Ingredients

So before we move onto making our Pecan Pie Wax Melts, let’s familiarize ourselves with some of the ingredients we are using.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Pillar of Bliss Candle WaxPecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Pillar of Bliss Candle Wax

So anytime a recipe calls for a wax melt,  we will always use our Pillar of Bliss. The reason for that is that Pillar of Bliss is the best wax when we are using a mold for our creation. This wax has an easy release from the mold since it hardens up nicely. Most waxes, such as soy, are often too soft and can often difficult to get out of the mold. Pillar of Bliss is a granulated blend of soy wax (more than 50 percent) and paraffin wax. This wax has excellent scent retention as well as amazing hot and cold throws.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Joy Wax Candle WaxPecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Joy Wax Candle Wax

The next wax we will be using is our Joy Wax Candle Wax. This wax is also a blend of soy, veggie waxes, and paraffin. Joy Wax also has wonderful scent retention along with awesome hot and cold throws. Any time you would like to add a fluffy topping to any of your candle creations, this wax is perfect for that! As you will see, it can be whipped up into a puffy cloud of fluff! It’s perfect for use in dessert candles or wax melts!

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Granny’s Pecan Pie Fragrance Oil

This is one of my favorite home scents to use for the fall (or anytime actually). It has a warm aroma of brown sugar, vanilla, butter, and roasted pecans. This fragrance oil does amazing in all candle waxes that were tested. It also did very well when we tested in Cold Process soap. While it did discolor to a chocolate brown (which I think is a perfect color for a soap when using this fragrance) there was no acceleration, or ricing! It did, however, separate, yet it reabsorbed with no problem. I am sure that this would be a perfect fragrance to add to your fall/holiday line of products.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Other Ingredients and Equipment You will Need

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Before You Get Started

Before you get started on your wax melts, it is always good to prepare your work area. Clean your work area and also your equipment that you will be using. Make sure that you have all your ingredients and utensils handy and within reaching distance. These few steps will help ensure that your creating will run smoothly and uninterrupted. If this is your first time working with candle wax, you might like to familiarize yourself with how to make candles. Follow this link to get a quick rundown on melting and pour temperatures and also proper temperatures for adding fragrances.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Preparing Your Double Boiler

The first step before starting your wax melts will be to set up your double boiler. If you know the process of setting up a double boiler, you can move on to the next step of prepping your wax. However, if you are unfamiliar with a double boiler, we can explain to you how it is done in a few easy steps.

First, you will need a large pot or even an old cake pan for the outside part of your double boiler. Place this onto your heating element. This can be your stove top or even a hot plate. Next, pour about 3 inches of water into the pot or pan. Then, you will need a smaller pot or a pouring pot, for the inside part of the double boiler. As a side note, it isn’t really necessary, however, it is so much easier pouring melted wax into the molds if your pot has a pouring spout. That is why a pouring pitcher is ideal as the inner part of your double boiler. Next, turn your burner on to medium heat to allow the water to warm up as you are preparing your wax.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Preparing the  Wax for the BasesPecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Preparing the  Wax for the Bases

First, you will be preparing the bases of the wax melts. For this step, you will need the Pillar of Bliss Wax. On your scale, set your pouring pot and tare out the weight. Weigh out 325 grams of Pillar of Bliss Wax.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Adding the candle dyes and fragrance oilPecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Adding the candle dyes and fragrance oil

Next, place the pouring pot into the larger part of your double boiler and allow the wax to melt to the proper temperature, stirring occasionally. While you are waiting for the wax to melt, you can weigh out the fragrance oil. To a small dish, weigh out 32 grams of Granny’s Pecan Pie fragrance oil. You can set this aside for the moment. Once your wax has reached the correct melting point, remove the pouring pot from the heat and you can now add in the liquid candle dyes. We are going for a pecan color so you will add in 3 drops of yellow liquid candle dye and 4 drops of brown liquid candle dye. Stir this well to incorporate the color thoroughly.

Once the wax has reached the correct temperature for the fragrance oil, you can now add that, once again stirring well to completely disperse the oil throughout the wax.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Pouring the WaxPecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Pouring the Wax

Now that your melted wax is colored and scented, you will be pouring the wax into their molds. With the silicone mini muffin mold in front of you, carefully fill each mold to the top with the melted wax. Once these are all filled, allow them to set up completely until they have cooled. Pop them out of the muffin cavities and place them on a piece of wax paper. You can set these aside for the moment.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Preparing the  Pecan EmbedsPecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Preparing the  Pecan Embeds

Next, you will be preparing the Pecan Embeds. For the embeds, you will notice we are using a mold from Flexible Molds. This company offers many different types of molds to fit any of your soap or candle making needs. They are very durable molds, that will last you a long time! So, to your pouring pot weigh out 50 grams of Pillar of Bliss candle Wax and place it into the larger pot of heated water. Melt this wax down to the proper temperature. While you are waiting for this wax to melt, weigh out 5 grams of Granny’s Pecan Pie fragrance oil into a small bowl and set this aside for the moment.

For the color of the pecans, you will only need a small amount. So, using a toothpick to add the color, swirl in a small amount of yellow and brown liquid candle dye. The pecans do not have to be the same exact shade as the bases of the wax melts. It is okay if they are a bit lighter. Stir the liquid color until it is fully blended. Now you can add in the pre-weighed fragrance oil and stir this well also. Next, you will pour the melted wax into the pecan embeds mold carefully. Once again, you will let these set up until cool before removing them from the mold. Since the mold has only 6 cavities, you will need to remelt any of the wax remaining in the pot to pour the second set of pecans.  Set the pecans aside on a piece of wax paper until later.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Preparing the Chocolate DrizzlePecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Preparing the Chocolate Drizzle

Next, you will be preparing the chocolate drizzle. For this, you will need the joy wax. In your pouring pot, weigh out 20 grams of Joy wax. Melt the wax completely and then add in 2 grams of Granny’s Pecan Pie fragrance oil. Then, using the toothpick method, add in both black and brown liquid candle dye. Stir this well to fully incorporate the fragrance and color.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Drizzling the Chocolate

Now, you will drizzle the chocolate wax over the bases of your pecan pies. So, using a spoon, dip it into the wax and holding it above the bases, drizzle the wax back and forth over the pies until you have used all the wax, or until you are satisfied with your drizzle.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Preparing the Whipped Topping

The next step is preparing the whipped topping of the pies. As a side note, if you are using the same pouring pot as in the previous steps, you will want to clean out the pot completely using paper towels. This is only necessary since the whipped topping will be white with no color. Any leftover colored wax may cause your wax to have a tint. So, in your cleaned out pouring pot, weigh out 120 grams of Joy Wax. Place into the heated water and melt, stirring occasionally.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Creating the whipped toppingPecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Creating the whipped topping

So once the joy wax has completely melted, remove the pouring pot from the heat source and add in 12 grams of Granny’s Pecan Pie fragrance and stir this well to combine. For this step, you can use a mixer or even just a spoon. As your wax is cooling down, it will begin to thicken. As it begins to thicken, mix the wax to create a whipped topping consistency. Once you have your wax to whipped consistency, place a dollop on top of each cupcake base.

Pecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Adding the Pecan EmbedsPecan Pie Wax Melts Recipe: Adding the Pecan Embeds

Next, place a pecan embed on top of each whip topped pie. Press down so the embed adheres to the top snugly. This recipe creates 12 wax melts. Pecan Pie Wax Melts are ready to use! Simply place one in your wax burner and enjoy the warm, comforting aroma that will fill your home!

How Do I Make Wax Melts: Candle Making SuppliesHow Do I Make Wax Melts: Candle Making Supplies

Just like with candle making, there is some equipment that you are going to need to get started. First, you will need a pouring pot to melt your wax. You will also need a pot filled with a few inches of water and a stove top. Your pouring pot will then be placed into the pot of warm water. Also, you will need a thermometer because you will need to add the fragrance oil at a certain temperature and you need to make sure the wax isn’t too hot when you pour.

Also, you will need to make sure you have a least have your basic supplies, which are candle wax, a scented oil, and packaging supplies. While there are many choices and options for customizing your wax melts, these two key ingredients are all you need to create your scented wax tarts. Also, you need to make sure that you have a plan for packaging your wax melts. There are many options, like clamshells, molds, and much more, and you just need one method to ensure that you are able to store your finished wax melts for later use.

How Do I Make Wax Melts: Waxes for Making Wax TartsHow Do I Make Wax Melts: Waxes for Making Wax Tarts

There are many different types of waxes available from Natures Garden. We recommend using a pillar wax for your melts if you are putting them into a mold. However, there are still quite a few that are great when it comes to making a wax melt using a container wax. Choosing the type of wax is very important to the quality of your scented wax melts. So, you may want to learn a bit about your options before choosing a wax.

How Do I Make Wax Melts: Beeswax Wax MeltsHow Do I Make Wax Melts: Beeswax Wax Melts

Beeswax is a great choice for making wax tarts. It is perfect for creating hard wax tarts that are easy to package and use. You can either scent this wax on its own or add about 5-10% to a paraffin wax. Adding beeswax to paraffin wax will increase the integrity of the wax melt, which will make it easy to package and then use later. Also, adding some beeswax to your recipe will improve the color and your burn time of your wax tart.

How Do I Make Wax Melts: Wow Wax Wax TartsHow Do I Make Wax Melts: Wow Wax Wax Tarts

Speaking of paraffin wax, WOW Wax is a paraffin blend that is soft, creamy and has an excellent scent throw. While you may want to use this wax to make wax tarts, it could be difficult to make tarts. When you go to remove a wax melt from your clamshell or mold, the wax is likely to stick the container. This will ruin the shape and lead to a mess. So, this is when the beeswax comes in handy! Adding a portion of stearic acid or beeswax will make the wax harder and easier to use for making wax tarts. Alternatively, you could package your soft wax melts into portion cups. This will make it easier to transfer the wax to the warmer and cut down on some of that mess.

How Do I Make Wax Melts: Can I Use Soy Wax for Wax Melts? How Do I Make Wax Melts: Can I Use Soy Wax for Wax Melts?

While you can use soy wax to create your homemade wax melts, a softer wax like soy wax may be harder to remove from a mold or clamshell container. Similarly, Joy Wax is a candle wax that blends soy with other ingredients to enhance the quality. So, Joy Wax will be a bit soft, as well. However, there are ways that you can effectively use this wax. Again, you could use individually portioned containers and just squeeze the wax into your warmer. Also, you can use Stearic Acid to harden your wax tarts.

How Do I Make Wax Melts: Best Wax for Clamshell TartsHow Do I Make Wax Melts: Best Wax for Clamshell Tarts

One of the best waxes for making wax tarts is our Pillar of Bliss Wax, as it is a strong wax made to create pillar candles. So, it will be sure to maintain its shape in the packages. We have made our basic Candle Wax Tarts Recipe with this wax because it is one of the easiest for clamshell wax melts. Also, we have done a few other recipes, like the Pumpkin Delight Chamshell Tarts and the Candy Corn Clamshell Tarts Recipe, with this candle wax.

How Do I Make Wax Melts: How do I Scent Wax Tarts?

Scented oils are an important part of creating your own wax tarts. Your fragrance oil warmers won’t be able to do much without a great scent. Plus, you need to make sure that your scented oil is added correctly or it may not mix properly with the candle wax. So, you need to be able to add your fragrance oils at the right temperatures.

How Do I Make Wax Melts: What Temperature Do I Add My Fragrance Oil?How Do I Make Wax Melts: What Temperature Do I Add My Fragrance Oil?

One crucial thing that you need to remember with fragrance oils is that they should be added to the wax at the correct temperature. This can be found on the page for the individual candle wax. Each candle wax will be different. So, for the best results follow the instructions for that particular candle wax.  Each wax has been tested to find the temperature that will give you the best results using that particular candle wax.

Not only are fragrance oils great for scenting your home, but there are some fragrance herbs that will do make you wax melts look amazing! Also, you need to make sure that you have an idea for packaging your wax melts. Otherwise, your tarts may set up before you are able to pour. Depending on the type of wax tart you are making, there are many different options. Here are a few of the most common options.

How Do I Make Wax Melts: Clamshell Packaging for Wax MeltsHow Do I Make Wax Melts: Clamshell Packaging for Wax Melts

First, we have clamshell wax tarts containers These are most often used for packaging because they are convenient to make and use. Plus, the divider allows you to easily create six individual wax melts in one container! If you want to use this method of packaging, Natures Garden has some high quality clamshell containers.

How Do I Make Wax Melts: Portion CupsHow Do I Make Wax Melts: Portion Cups

Another good option for wax melts is portion cups. These are especially useful for soft waxes, like container waxes. Many candle makers choose to use the same candle wax in their tarts that they use in their container candles. This way they do not have to purchase two different types of candle wax.  When using portion cups there will be less struggle trying to get the wax out of the container. Just squeeze the container and pop the wax into your wax warmer and don’t worry about a mess. This could also be a good container for transporting wax embeds of various shapes. For example, a few retro flower wax tarts could fit in a container for storage.

How Do I Make Wax Melts: Candle MoldsHow Do I Make Wax Melts: Candle Molds

Another perfect way to create your wax melts is to use silicone candle molds wholesale. This allows you to make all kinds of fun shapes and designs. We used this recipe to create our scrumptious Pumpkin Cheesecake Wax Melts Recipe, which is perfect for creating some little cupcake wax melts, too.

It also does very well in candle waxes, makes perfect air fresheners for your car and did well in other bath and body products!

Powerful Fragrance Oils: Stormy Nights Fragrance OilPowerful Fragrance Oils: Stormy Nights Fragrance Oil

Stormy Nights is another one of my all-time favorite fragrances! This fragrance oil by Natures Garden is an earthy, yet ozonic fragrance blend reminiscent of the way the night smells after a storm. This fragrance oil begins with top notes of ozone, fresh air, and white flowers; followed by middle notes of ylang ylang and tuberose and well balanced with base notes of patchouli and musk. Fresh, clean and electrifying!

This fragrance oil did perfect in our cold process soap testing. Once again, no ricing, separating, accelerating or discoloring. The scent stayed strong and fresh through its cure time. Stormy Nights also did amazing in candle waxes, air fresheners and in all bath and body products!

Powerful Fragrance Oils: Sweet Orange Chili Pepper Fragrance OilPowerful Fragrance Oils: Sweet Orange Chili Pepper Fragrance Oil

This fragrance oil by Natures Garden is the sassy, saucy combination of Valencia Orange, Sparkling Bergamot, Tangerine Zest, Tart Cassis, Orange Juice, Neroli, Ground Pepper, Fiery Chili Pepper, and Sheer Musk. Sweet Orange Chili Pepper is a Nature’s Garden original and a best seller!

This yummy fragrance oil did fairly well in cold process soap testing. We experienced some slight acceleration so soaping at room temperature is strongly suggested. However, there was no ricing, separating or discoloring to the soap. The scent stuck very well and stayed strong through the cure time. Sweet Orange Chili Pepper had wonderful hot and cold throws in candle making. It also made wonderful air fresheners and it worked well in all bath and body products.

With such a popular fragrance, we needed a recipe to go along with it. Nature’s Garden created Sweet Orange Chili Pepper Cold Process Soap Recipe. Our base soap recipe is helpful when creating the pretty red and orange swirls. There was no accelerating and it gave excellent time to do an in the pot swirl.

Powerful Fragrance Oils: Strawberry Passion Fragrance OilPowerful Fragrance Oils: Strawberry Passion Fragrance Oil

I know that most people think that strawberry may seem like a delicate, light fragrance to work with, but not Nature’s Garden Strawberry Passion! This fragrance oil by Natures Garden is an incredibly strong, rich ripened strawberry fragrance with bottom notes of cotton candy and French vanilla. Strawberry Passion fragrance oil will be a perfect summer addition and it will be sure to please those that like strawberries.

This fragrance did awesome in cold process soap testing. With no ricing, accelerating or separating, it was perfect to work with. However, it did discolor to a chocolate brown. In this case, if you are looking to keep your soap white, we suggest using Vanilla White Color Stabilizer to help you out. Strawberry Passion also did very well in candle waxes with amazing hot and cold throws. It did equally well in air fresheners and in all bath and body products.

There you have it folks! Just a handful of some of our most powerful fragrances that Nature’s Garden has to offer. We feel that these fragrances would be amazing additions to any or all of your products that you have to offer. Since they are some of our best sellers and did amazing in all of our testings we are sure you will be pleased with the outcome!

Christmas Coffee Wax Melts RecipeChristmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe

Our next wax melts recipe for Christmas was inspired by our favorite holiday blend coffee.  Not only does our favorite coffee use ground cinnamon and allspice, it also uses cocoa powder and vanilla!  Is your mouth watering just thinking about this delicious coffee?  Go ahead and prepare some Snickerdoodle Coffee, we’ll wait for you!  Are you ready?  Ok!  Now, get ready to make Natures Garden’s Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe.  This wax tart recipe was inspired by the glorious aroma of the actual coffee.  This layered wax melt recipe uses two of Natures Garden’s wonderful fragrance oils, Snickerdoodle Cookies Fragrance Oil and French Vanilla Coffee Fragrance Oil.  Not only are these wax melts scented with two awesome fragrance oils, we also topped them with fresh coffee beans!  This recipe truly was brewed to perfection just for you!  Not only do they smell amazing, but they look totally adorable!

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Let’s Talk About the Ingredients We Are Using

Before we begin creating this recipe, let’s talk about some of the Natures Garden ingredients we are using.  Below, we will talk a little bit about our wax selection, molds, and fragrance oils used in our Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Natures Garden Snickerdoodle Cookies Fragrance OilChristmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Natures Garden Snickerdoodle Cookies Fragrance Oil

Snickerdoodle cookies are a holiday tradition in my house.  So, trust me when I say that this cookie fragrance oil smells just like the freshly baked cookies!  This fragrance oil by Natures Garden is the fresh baked aroma of French vanilla with a touch of cinnamon sticks, gingerbread, and maple syrup.  In fact, one of our customers had this to say about Snickerdoodle Cookies Fragrance Oil, “This is the strongest snickerdoodle scent I have ever used. It is perfect for my soy wax tarts. I highly recommend this cookie fragrance oil.”

Our French vanilla coffee scent will have you craving the real thing.  This coffee scent is the perfect blend of freshly brewed coffee and warm creamy vanilla.  You will not be disappointed, maybe thirsty, but not disappointed.  This fragrance oil by Natures Garden is a sugary, vanilla aroma with just the right amount of fresh brewed coffee. We brew this fragrance oil to perfection just for you!  We were not surprised when one client said this about French Vanilla Coffee Fragrance Oil, “Not an over strong smell of coffee, just the right amount with a touch of vanilla. Will be getting this one again, and again. Favorite with tart ‘melts’, throws very well. Not overpowering, just right….thanks for this one.”

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Natures Garden Pillar of Bliss WaxChristmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Natures Garden Pillar of Bliss Wax

I would like to take a moment to talk about the wax that we will be using today.  We are often asked by our client some of the differences in the waxes that we carry.  Today, I will tell you a little bit about our Pillar of Bliss Candle Wax.  This particular wax is used when creating melts that will be used in your burner, or for pillars and votive candles.

Natures Garden Pillar of Bliss Candle Wax is soy wax and paraffin wax blend.  While many people love natural soy waxes, it can sometimes be difficult to work with.  So, this wax is like the best of both worlds.  Straight soy wax can have a rough finish and naturally frost.  In addition, it can sometimes be difficult to get the absolute best hot scent throw.  Well, this pillar wax also contains paraffin wax.  The benefit of paraffin wax is that it helps give a wonderful scent throw.  Additionally, it gives the wax a nice and smooth creamy finish.

Often we are asked for recommendations on wax for wax tarts.  Well, the Pillar of Bliss wax is the one that I personally use.  Since it is a pillar wax, it will pop out of your molds very nicely.  When you use a container wax for tarts it doesn’t come out of the jars as easily.  This is because container waxes are meant to be softer so that they cling easily to your candle jars, but will do the same when used in candle molds.  So, it can be difficult to remove container waxes from molds.  My personal rule of thumb, if it is going into a mold or clamshell, use a pillar wax.  In addition, the Pillar of Bliss Wax comes in a granulated form, making it very easy to work with.  Finally, it has an amazing scent throw and a nice creamy finish.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Silicone Mini Muffins MoldsChristmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Silicone Mini Muffins Molds

I absolutely love working with silicone molds.  They are durable and make removing the wax melts a breeze.  In addition, they are actually made for baking so they can handle the heat of the hot candle wax.  Some plastic molds can be a little more difficult to work with, requiring you to pour at a much lower temperature. If you haven’t tried working with silicone molds yet, I highly recommend them.  I love them for candle making, soap making, and cosmetic making.  Now, this candle making recipe will create 24 wax melts for your burner.  You will need a total of two of the mini muffin silicone molds for the Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Preparations

Now, that we have talked about some of the ingredients we are using, let’s begin.  First, prepare your work area.  You want to make sure you have a clear and also clean area to work in.  Then, you are ready to begin preparing your handmade coffee wax tarts.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Prepare the Bottom Layer of the Wax Melts

The bottom layer of your coffee wax tarts will be colored a coffee brown color.  In addition, it will be scented with Snickerdoodle Cookies Fragrance Oil by Natures Garden Candle Making Supplies.  So, we will begin by preparing this brown layer of your wax melts.  You will need to get two of your mini muffins silicone molds ready.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Preparing the Pillar of Bliss Wax for the Bottom Snickerdoodle LayerChristmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Preparing the Pillar of Bliss Wax for the Bottom Snickerdoodle Layer

We begin by preparing the Pillar of Bliss Wax for the bottom snickerdoodle layer. We will use a double boiler to melt the candle wax.  You will need to put a few inches of water in your pot. Turn your stove top on to heat the water.  Next, weigh out 345 grams of the pillar wax using your pouring pot.  Then, place your pouring pot inside the warmed water.  Finally, melt the candle wax to 195 degrees.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Color the Wax for the Bottom Snickerdoodle LayerChristmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Color the Wax for the Bottom Snickerdoodle Layer

Next, we will color the wax for the bottom snickerdoodle layer.  You want to color your wax melts at the temperature of 195 degrees Fahrenheit. We will be using two liquid candle dyes, both Natures Garden Spectrum brown and black liquid candle dyes.

To your melted candle wax, add 2 drops of black liquid candle colorant and 3 drops of the brown liquid candle dye.  Then, mix to fully disperse the color.  Once you have finished you will need to wait for the temperature of your candle wax to drop to 185 degrees Fahrenheit before moving on.

Next, we will be adding the Snickerdoodle Fragrance Oil to the bottom layer of wax.  For this recipe, we will be using 41 grams of Natures Garden’s Snickerdoodle Fragrance Oil.  So, when your wax is at 185 degrees Fahrenheit, go ahead and add the Snickerdoodle scent.  Then, mix with a mixing spoon to completely blend the fragrance oil with the candle wax.  You want to stir for about 30 seconds.

Now, we will be pouring the bottom snickerdoodle layer of wax.  Before pouring, allow the temperature of the candle wax to drop to about 175 degrees Fahrenheit.  Once the Pillar of Bliss is at the proper temperature, fill the 24 cavities of your silicone mini muffin mold about 3/4 of the way full.  Finally, allow this layer to fully setup before beginning the next layer.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Prepare the Top Layer of the Wax Melts

The top layer of your wax tarts will be left uncolored.  However, it will be scented with French Vanilla Coffee Fragrance Oil.  So, we will begin preparing this layer of your wax melt.  You will pour this layer directly on top of the brown layer of your melt in your mini muffins silicone mold ready.  It will be the top white layer of your wax melts.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Preparing the Pillar of Bliss Wax for the Top French Vanilla LayerChristmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Preparing the Pillar of Bliss Wax for the Top French Vanilla Layer

We begin by Preparing the Pillar of Bliss Wax for the top vanilla coffee layer. We will use a double boiler to melt the candle wax.  Again, you will need to put a few inches of water in your pot. Turn your stove top on to heat the water.  Next, weigh out 258 grams of the pillar wax using your pouring pot.  Then, place your pouring pot inside the warmed water.  Finally, melt the candle wax to 185 degrees.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Adding the French Vanilla Coffee Fragrance Oil to the Top Layer of WaxChristmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Adding the French Vanilla Coffee Fragrance Oil to the Top Layer of Wax

Next, we will be adding the French Vanilla Coffee Fragrance Oil to the Top layer of wax.  For this recipe, we will be using 34 grams of Natures Garden’s French Vanilla Coffee Fragrance Oil.  So, when your wax is at 185 degrees Fahrenheit, go ahead and add the French Vanilla Coffee scent.  Then, mix with a mixing spoon to completely blend the fragrance oil with the candle wax.  You want to stir for about 30 seconds.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Pouring the Top French Vanilla Coffee Layer of Wax

Now, we will be pouring the top French vanilla coffee layer of wax.  Before pouring the candle wax, allow the temperature of the candle wax to drop to about 150 degrees Fahrenheit this time.  By pouring at a lower temperature, the heated wax will not melt the previous layer.  Once the pillar of bliss is at the proper temperature, fill each of the 24 cavities of your silicone mini muffin mold the rest of the way.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Adding the Fresh Coffee BeansChristmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Adding the Fresh Coffee Beans

Finally, you will be adding a decorative touch to your wax melts.  This will be in the form of fresh whole coffee beans.  You will need to quickly add the coffee beans to the top of your wax melts.  We used about seven or eight beans for each wax melt.  You will want to do this as soon as you pour your last tart.  So, after you have poured your white layer, begin adding the coffee beans.  Once you have added coffee beans to each melt, simply allow your melts to setup.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe: Adding the Fresh Coffee BeansOnce your Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts have setup make sure you allow them to cure for a few days before using them.  Finally, after your wax melts have cured, they are ready to use.  To use your wax tarts, simply place one in your wax burner and enjoy the wonderful holiday coffee aroma.

We hope you love these Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts.  We loved creating this recipe, along with many other fragrance fun creations found in our free classes and recipes box.  Make sure you check out all the fun.  Have you created fun holiday recipes that you would like to share?  Show us what you have been up to.  We would love to see all the fragrance fun you are having!  Post your pictures on the Natures Garden Facebook page.  Alternatively, you can tag us on our Instagram page or our Twitter page @ngscents.

Fragrance Oils for Warmers Using Scents in Liquid Potpourri

One way to use fragrance oils in warmers if to create a liquid potpourri. This uses a fragrance oil and a carrier oil to create a liquid that is perfect for room scenting. While you may be tempted to simply add the fragrance oil of your choice to the warmer directly, this will not work out as you think. The concentration of our fragrance oils is high, so you need to combine our scents with carrier oils, such as coconut oil, to achieve the scent you will want. So, you would need to create a 50/50 mixture that is half a carrier oil and half a fragrance oil. Alternatively, you can dilute the fragrance oils with DPG, again doing a 50/50 mix. We have a few recipes available that will show you how to create scents for your warmer. If you are interested, then check out the Spicy Liquid Potpourri Recipe or the Vanilla Liquid Potpourri Recipe for more details.

Fragrance Oils for Warmers Using Scents in Wax

Another great way to incorporate fragrances into your warmers is to add them to wax. Not only does wax hold the scent well, but it is easy to create fun wax melts that look cute! For example, you can create the Cupcake Wax Tarts Recipe that makes the wax tart look just like a little cupcake! Alternatively, you can create a recipe like the Pumpkin Delight Clamshell Tarts Recipe that has layers of wax in a clamshell container.  Finally, you can use granulated wax, like in our Autumn Leaves Potpourri Recipe, to create a scoopable wax for your oil burner.

Fragrance Oils for Warmers Unique Recipes for Warmers

Plus, there are even more great ways to use fragrance oils for warmers. One such recipe is the Shimmering Gel Potpourri Recipe. This recipe uses both an oil and wax to create a gel that is perfect for carrying the fragrance oil. So, there are different kinds of ideas out for adding fragrances to warmers.

Wax Melts Recipe Wax Melts Recipe

This Wax Melts Recipe by Natures Garden is a simple and adorable way to create wax melts! We all know that wax melts are a pretty convenient way to scent a home without using candles. While candles are always great, sometimes it is much easier to simply add a wax melt to your warmer and just let the fragrance oil fill your home. But, many of these wax melts are plain, boring cubes. While plain wax melts still can carry some amazing scents for your home, they aren’t much to look at. Sometimes you just need something cute and pretty to give yourself a break. So, we created these strawberries and cream cookie shaped wax melts. They are easy to create and will make using a wax melter even more fun than before!

Wax Melts Recipe Ingredients Available At Natures Garden

Color Block – Red
Strawberries and Cream Fragrance Oil
Pouring Pot
Thermometer

Wax Melts Recipe Other Equipment and Supplies You Will Need

Stove Top
Scale
Mixing Spoons
A Medium Sized Pot (to create a double boiler)
Vanilla Wafers Soap and Candle Mold (available at flexiblemolds.com)

Wax Melts Recipe Weights and Amounts of Ingredients

90 grams Joy Wax
90 grams Pillar of Bliss Wax
A Small Amount of a Red Color Block
18 grams of the Strawberries and Cream Fragrance Oil

Wax Melts Recipe Prepare Your Work Area

Before you begin you will want to make a few preparations to ensure that your process is as problem free as possible. When you are creating anything, you will want to make sure that the area you are working in is safe for both yourself and your product. This means you should make sure that everything other than your ingredients and supplies have been cleaned up. This will make sure that there is nothing in your work space that could fall over or hinder your crafting in any way.

Also, you will want to sanitize all of the supplies that you need for this craft. No one wants dirt and filth in their candle wax, so it is a great idea to make sure that nothing will be able to get into your wax. Not only do you need to clean your countertop, pouring pot, and bowls, but you will need to clean the molds, spoons, and thermometer, too. This will prevent anything from sticking to a utensil as you work. It could be very easy to not notice a speck of dirt on your spatula until it is swimming in your melted wax, which can be a pain to remove. Plus, some may even sneak by and make it into your final product. So, just get cleaned up before you begin working!

Wax Melts Recipe Creating the Double Boiler

Additionally, you will want to know how to create a double boiler for this recipe. Knowing how to do this is important because it will help to prevent your ingredients from burning. When you don’t use this method, your wax can get too hot too quickly and could scorch before you even notice. However, this method uses boiling water to keep the heat at a level where the wax will melt and not get too hot.

So, you will be using a pouring pot and a regular pot for creating this device. Take the pouring pot and make sure that it will fit comfortably inside the other pot with room on either side. Now, remove your pouring pot and add about an inch of water to the regular pot. You will need to place your pouring pot into the water. Later, you will add heat to get the pot of water. Then, you will add your container candle wax to your pouring pot. Finally, your pouring pot will be placed into the pan containing the water. You may add or pour out water to get the right level for your specific pot size, just make sure that that water is touching the bottom of the pouring pot.

Wax Melts Recipe Creating the Vanilla Wafers Portion

First, we will be creating the vanilla wafer cookies portion of this recipe. This portion will end up looking like a bunch of pink wafer cookies and will be used to create the cookie sandwich later on. After, you will be setting these pink, wax wafers aside as you make the filling to finish off your strawberries and cream cookie wax melts.

Wax Melts Recipe Melting the Pillar of Bliss WaxWax Melts Recipe Melting the Pillar of Bliss Wax

Now, you will be using the Pillar of Bliss Candle Wax for your vanilla wafers. So, weigh out 90 grams of the Pillar of Bliss Wax and transfer it into your pouring pot. Set the wax filled pouring pot back into the regular pot of water. Turn on your stove top and get your water to start boiling. Melt the wax and bring the temperature to 195 degrees. As you are heating make sure to occasionally stir the wax to further prevent burning. After all the wax has melted you can move on to the next step.

Wax Melts Recipe Adding Color to the Pillar of Bliss Candle WaxWax Melts Recipe Adding Color to the Pillar of Bliss Candle Wax

Next, you are going to add the color to the melted wax. You will want to add the candle colorant at 195 degrees to ensure it will mix full into the wax. So, cut off a tiny piece of your color block and add it to the melted wax. Make sure not to start off with too much as you will not be able to remove the color once it has melted and been fully incorporated. Once you have added the red color block, stir to fully disperse the candle colorant. Further, you will want to test the color of your wax before you move on. You can easily test the wax color to see if it’s going to be right before it all sets up. So, take a spoon and scoop up a tiny bit of the colored wax. Now, add a drip of the wax to a white paper plate, napkin, or another white disposable object. It shouldn’t take long to dry, but once it does you will be able to see the color your wax will be after it dries. After, you can add more and retest if you feel like the color you have is not quite right.

Next, you are going to add fragrance to the wax and pour it into your molds. First, you are going add the fragrance oil to your melted wax. Now, you can turn off your stove top and allow the wax temperature to drop to 180 degrees. Then, weigh out 9 grams of the Strawberries and Cream Fragrance Oil and add it to the pink colored wax. Make sure to mix well to incorporate the scent evenly.  Second, you will be pouring the wax into your molds. You will want to pour the wax around 165 degrees. Finally, allow the cookie portion of your melt to setup.

Wax Melts Recipe Removing the Wafers From the MoldsWax Melts Recipe Removing the Wafers From the Molds

Now, are going to finish up the first portion of your craft. So, once all of your wax wafers to fully set up remove all of the wafers from the vanilla wafer mold. After all of your wafers are removed from the mold you will want to set these pink wafers aside until it is time to assemble the final cookie sandwich wax melts.

Wax Melts Recipe Creating the Whipped Filling Portion

Next, we will be creating the filling portion of your wax melt cookie. This wax will be whipped and used to fill the center of the cookie. So, this part will be sandwiched between two of the pink vanilla wafers we have already created. After this portion is complete it will be time to assemble the wax melt cookie.

Wax Melts Recipe Melting the Joy Wax for the FillingWax Melts Recipe Melting the Joy Wax for the Filling

First, you are going to be melting the Joy Wax. You are going to want to have your pouring pot completely cleaned out. Otherwise, your filling will have a pink hue, which is not what we want. Then, add 90 grams of your Joy Candle Wax to the cleaned pouring pot. Melt this the same way that you melted the other wax for the wafers, which means you will need to use a double boiler. Once the wax has melted you will be adding 9 grams of the Strawberries and Cream Fragrance Oil. However, you will not be adding any color blocks or pigments to this portion.

Wax Melts Recipe Whip the Candle WaxWax Melts Recipe Whip the Candle Wax

Next, you are going to be whipping the Joy Wax. So, transfer your uncolored wax to a small mixing bowl. While you can keep the wax in the pouring pot, it will be easier for you to whip the wax in a shallow bowl. In addition, it will cool a bit faster. As the Joy Wax is beginning to get thicker you will want to whip the wax with a spoon or rubber spatula. Keep whipping until the wax reaches a consistency of whipped cream. After, you are ready for the next step.

Wax Melts Recipe Add the Filling to the WafersWax Melts Recipe Add the Filling to the Wafers

Finally, you are going to be assembling the cookie wax melts. So, retrieve your pink vanilla wafers and lay them in your work space. Take six of these pink wafers and lay them with their flat side facing up. These will be the bottoms of your strawberries and cream cookie shaped wax melts and the other six wafers will be the tops of the cookie.

Now, you will be adding the filling and will need to work quickly to make sure the top wafer cookie sticks to the wax filling. So, take a scoop of the wax and add it to one of your six bottom cookies. Quickly, take a top cookie and firmly place this on top of the filling you just added. Now, you have one completed wax tart cookie! You will need to repeat this filling process for your five other wax cookies. After, you will need to let the six cookie sandwiches set up completely, but for the most part, your project is complete!

Wax Melts Recipe Finishing Up and Using the Wax Melt Cookies

Now, you are almost ready to use your wax melts! All you will need to do now is to wait a few days for your wax melts to cure completely. Just like candles, the wax will need to rest a few days to be able to perform its best. Waiting a few days will provide you with a better scent when you add them to your wax tart warmers. Also, be sure to keep them covered while they are curing. While it may drive you crazy to have to wait for these little cuties, it will all be worth it in the end!

After, you are finally ready to use your wax melts! Not only are these little cookies super cute, but they are super easy to use, too. Simply take one of your strawberries and cream cookie wax melts and add it to your wax tart warmer. In no time at all, you will be surrounded by the sweet scent of our lovely Strawberries and Cream Fragrance Oil. We hope that you will enjoy this wax melts recipe!

Pumpkin Cheesecake Wax Melts Recipe: The Chocolate Pie Crust Layer

Pumpkin Cheesecake Wax Melts Recipe Pouring the BaseWe will begin by using Natures Garden’s Pillar of Bliss Wax. The nice thing about pillar waxes is that, since they are harder waxes, they will pop right out of your mold. Anytime you are using a mold, I would recommend using a pillar wax.

The bottom layer of this wax melts recipe will resemble a chocolate pie crust. In this section, I will walk you through the creation of this layer. It will be about 1/3 of your base. So, keep in mind, you will not be filling the mold completely with this layer. You will need two of the silicone mini cupcake molds ready. This recipe will create 16 pumpkin wax melts. Begin by melting your Pillar of Bliss Wax using the double boiler method. You will need to melt 3 ounces of pillar wax.

Once melted, you will need to add color. Since you only need a small amount, we suggest using two toothpicks. Get out both your black liquid candle colorant and brown candle dye. Now, dip one toothpick in the brown candle dye. Then, dip the toothpick in the wax. Now, using the second toothpick, do the same with the black candle colorant. Mix well to incorporate the color.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Wax Melts Recipe Pie Crust LayerNext, add 0.3 ounces of Pumpkin Cheesecake Fragrance Oil. Stir to blend the fragrance oil. Finally, you can now pour the melted wax in 16 of the mini muffin mold cavities. Remember, you will want to fill each of these cavities 1/3 of the way full. Allow this layer to set up completely.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Wax Melts Recipe: The Pumpkin Cheesecake Layer

When creating the pumpkin cheesecake layer, we will again, be working with Pillar of Bliss Wax. This time you will need to melt 6 ounces of Pillar of Bliss Candle Wax. Again, weigh out the wax using a scale. Then, use the double boiler to melt it.

Once melted, add your colorant. You will again want to use toothpicks to add just a small amount of colorant. This time you will need three toothpicks. Use the toothpicks to add yellow candle dye, brown liquid candle colorant, and orange candle colorant. Mix well.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Wax Melts Recipe Cheesecake LayerNow, use your scale to add 0.6 ounces of Pumpkin Cheesecake Fragrance Oil. Mix well to incorporate the pumpkin scent. Finally, pour the wax into each cavity of the mold. You will fill the remaining 2/3 of the silicone mold. Allow this layer to set up.  Lastly, once they have completely hardened, remove the bases from the molds.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Wax Melts Recipe: The Whipped Frosting Layer

When creating the whipped frosting, we will be using Joy Wax. Joy Wax, since it is a container wax, is softer making it ideal for our whipped topping. You will prepare the wax as you normally would, in a double boiler, adding your fragrance around 170 degrees. Add 0.9 ounces of Pumpkin Cheesecake Fragrance Oil to the Joy Wax. Stir the cheesecake fragrance oil into the wax completely. Now, you will want to wait for the wax set up a bit before you begin whipping it. Start whipping the wax when it has a slushy consistency. You can use a stainless steel spoon to whip the wax. You want to stir the wax until it has a whipped cream consistency.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Wax Melts Recipe Whipped LayerNow, begin topping each base.  You will need to use your spoon to scoop a small amount of wax onto each base.  You want it to look like frosting.  Use the spoon to create peaks in the Joy wax.  Lastly, get out the pumpkin pie spice powder.  Sprinkle a small amount of the pumpkin powder on each melt.

Once you have allowed that wax tarts to cure, they are ready to use.  Simply place one melt in your tart burner and enjoy the creamy pumpkin cheesecake aroma!  Have you created this wax melt recipe at home?  Or, maybe another product you would like to share?  We would love to see what you have come up with.  Post your pics on Natures Garden’s Facebook page or on Instagram, tagging us @ngscent.

Pumpkin-Pie-Candle-RecipePumpkin Pie Candle Recipe

With Thanksgiving right around the corner and all things pumpkin on your mind, I am sure you are going to love this project.  We were inspired by pumpkin pie of course!  That scrumptious, flaky pie crust, the sweet spice of pumpkin center, topped off with fluffy creamy whipped topping!  Your mouth is watering isn’t it?  Are you craving a slice of this tasty treat?  You could head to the kitchen and get baking.  Alternatively, you could save yourself some calories and make a candle instead.  However, I will warn you, if you have company over, they will probably walk in, take one sniff, and expect the real thing.  Our customers say Pumpkin Pie Spice Fragrance Oil smell just like a freshly baked pumpkin pie.  We agree it is strong, authentic, and amazing!

Pumpkin Pie Candle Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients available at Natures Garden:

Joy Wax
Pillar of Bliss Wax
Pumpkin Pie Spice Fragrance Oil
Silicone Soap Mold –  24 Mini Pumpkins
Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye Brown
Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye Yellow
Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye Orange
CD 12 Candle Wicks – You will need two of these.
Pouring Pot
Thermometer

Other Ingredients You Will Need:
Scale
Hot Glue Gun
16 Ounce Apothecary Jar
Toothpicks
A Pot (For Double Boiler)
Stainless Steel Mixing Spoon

Working With Natures Garden’s Pillar of Bliss Candle Wax

We will start by preparing the embed for the top of the candle using our Pillar of Bliss Wax.  Since it is a pillar wax, it will pop out of the mold nicely.  Before beginning, we should go over the temperature recommendations for this pillar and tart wax.  Heat the wax to 195 degrees Fahrenheit.  Once it reaches this temperature, add your color, stir to incorporate the color.  Then, allow the temperature to drop to 180 degrees Fahrenheit before adding the fragrance oil.  Anytime you are melting candle wax use a double boiler.  This means placing water in a pot on the stove, then placing your pouring pot the warm water.  Also, remember to melt the wax on low heat.  Using low heat will prevent the wax from burning.

Working With Natures Garden’s Joy Wax

For the majority of our Pumpkin Pie Candle Recipe, we will be using Joy Wax.  Joy Wax is a container wax.  What this means is it is made to adhere to whatever container you put it in.  If we tried to use the same pillar wax we used earlier, it would not cling to the jar.  So, since we want a nice glass adhesion, we chose a container wax.  First, we will go over the temperature instructions for the Joy Wax.  As always, you will want to melt the wax on low, and in a double boiler.  Heat the Joy Wax to 200 Fahrenheit. Add the candle colorant at this temperature. Let the container wax cool to 175-170F.  At this temperature, add fragrance oil. For the best results, we have found that pouring at 165-160F works well.

Pumpkin Pie Candle Recipe Step by Step Instructions

Pumpkin Pie Candle Recipe EmbedPumpkin Pie Candle Recipe: How to Prepare the Wax Embed

Now, get the silicone pumpkin mold out, and we will start creating our wax melt embed.  First, you will need your pouring pot and your scale.  Place the pouring pot on the scale.  Next, add 1 ounce of Pillar of Bliss Wax.  Following the wax instructions above, melt your wax.  Use a toothpick to add a bit of the orange candle colorant.  Then, at the correct temperature, place your pouring pot on the scale, and add 0.1 ounces of Pumpkin Pie Spice Fragrance Oil.  Stir with your stainless steel mixing spoon to fully incorporate all of the ingredients.  Finally, pour the orange candle wax into one of the cavities of the pumpkin mold and let it set up.  Once it has set up remove it from the mold, set it aside.  You will not need it until we are finished making the pumpkin candle.

Pumpkin Pie Candle Recipe: How to Prepare Your Jar

We chose to use an apothecary jar for this recipe.  Prior to creating your candle, you will need to have two CD 12 candle wicks.  You will also want to plug in and heat up your hot glue gun.  Place a dab of hot glue to the metal wick tab of each wick.  Adhere the candle wick to the bottom of the jar.  You want them to be equally spaced.  Also, be sure they are centered.

Pumpkin-Pie-Candle-Recipe-Layer-1Pumpkin Pie Candle Recipe: How to Prepare the Pie Crust Layer

The next step will be preparing the bottom layer.  Our goal here is to achieve the color of the pie crust.  This layer will start at the bottom and go about one inch up.  Again, using your scale, place four ounces of Joy Wax in the pouring pot.  Melt the wax as described above.

When your Joy Wax is at the correct temperature, add your candle colorant.  You will need to add 1 drop brown liquid candle dye.  Then, use a toothpick to add a bit of yellow.  Stir to blend the color completely with the wax.  Next, place the pouring pot on your scale.  Add 0.4 ounces of Pumpkin Pie Spice Fragrance Oil.  Once the wax reaches the correct temperature, pour it into the jar.  Remember, this is a layered candle.  Pay close attention to the sides of the jar.  You do not want to splash the wax on the sides of the jar.  I recommend pouring slowing, and also down the center of the jar.  Place a pencil across the opening of your jar.  Wrap your wick around the pencil.  This will keep your wicks centered and straight.  We allowed this layer to fully set up before moving to the next step.

Pumpkin Pie Candle Recipe: How to Prepare the Pumpkin Layer

Pumpkin-Pie-Candle-Recipe-Poured-LayerNow, we will move to the second layer, the delicious pie filling.  This layer will also use our Joy Wax.  Also, this portion will fill the majority of the jar.  Now, get that scale out again.  Weigh out 10 ounces of Joy wax.  Melt the wax in the same manner you did before.

Next, to achieve the pumpkin pie color you will need three of our liquid candle dyes.  We used orange, brown, and yellow candle colorant.  Add 2 drops orange, one yellow, and one brown.  Alternatively, you could use color blocks.  However, you will need to play with the amounts a bit.  You will use two parts orange and one part of each brown and yellow color blocks.  Once you add your color, stir slowly, but thoroughly, to blend the color with the wax.

Pumpkin-Pie-Candle-Recipe-Layer-2Now, at the proper temperature, add 1 ounce of Pumpkin Pie Spice Fragrance Oil.  Mix well.  Lastly, remove the pencil keeping your wick in place.  Then, pour the wax into the apothecary jar.  Now straighten the wicks.  Put the pencil across the top of your jar.  Again, once your wicks are straight, and centered, wrap the candle wicks around the pencil again.  As before, allow this layer to harden completely.

Pumpkin Pie Candle Recipe: How to Prepare the Whipped Topping Layer

The final layer will be a whipped cream topping layer.  This layer also uses Joy Wax.  However, we will use it a bit differently.  We will be whipping the wax.  This will give the candle wax a whipped cream appearance.  You will prepare the wax as you have before.  The only exception is we will not be pouring it at 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Pumpkin-Pie-Candle-Recipe-Adding-FragranceGo ahead and get that scale out one last time.  Weigh out and melt 8 ounces of Joy Wax.  We will not be adding color to this portion.  The natural color of the Joy Wax represents the color of whipped cream nicely.  Go ahead and add 0.8 ounces of the pumpkin pie fragrance at the normal 170 – 175 degrees Fahrenheit.  Mix well to incorporate the fragrance oil.

Now, this time, instead of pouring, let the wax set up a little bit.  You want your wax to be a slushy consistency.  Once it gets to this state, use your stainless steel spoon to whip the wax.  Whip the wax until it has a fluffy whipped cream texture. Now, remove the pencil, but as you begin adding your wax, remember you want the wicks to stay centered. Start adding your whipped wax to the top of the pumpkin layer.  Use the spoon to create peaks in the wax.  You will need to work pretty quickly.  Move to the next step before your wax finishes hardening.

Pumpkin Pie Candle Recipe Finishing Touches

Remember that wax pumpkin embed you made earlier with our Pillar of Bliss Wax?  This is where you will need it.  Place that embed in front of your candle wicks.  You want to sink it slightly into your whipped topping.  Additionally, we looped the wick around the pencil before removing it.  This created a decorative curled wick.  However, it should be trimmed to 1/4 inches before burning.  We should also note, the pumpkin embed is purely decorative.  We recommend removing it prior to burning the candle.  It is a wax melt that can be used in yours or your customer’s wax burner.  It does, however, make for an adorable finishing touch on the candle.  We recommend letting the candle cure for a couple days prior to burning it.  But after that, light your candle and let the pumpkin aroma soar.
