Vamp Vogue Fragrance OilVamp Vogue Fragrance Oil

Before we begin, let’s take a look at the fragrance oil we will be using.  This soap making project will use Vamp Vogue Fragrance Oil from Natures Garden Soap Making Supplies. This Halloween fragrance oil by Natures Garden is a sexy, gothic statement. It starts with top notes of Blood Orange, Ruby Red Grapefruit, and Mandarin.  Then, it the citrus notes are followed by middle notes of Geranium, Bourbon, Oak Moss, and Dark Patchouli.  Finally, these notes are sitting on notes of Black Amber, Sandal Tree, Cashmere, and Musk. Vamp Vogue Fragrance Oil is an NG original scent!

First, you will need to make the red portion of the vampire teeth.  In order to create the teeth, you will need 24 grams red play dough soap. To color our soap dough, we used 30 drops of the tomato red soap colorant.  Below, you will find the ingredients and amounts for this recipe as well as step by step instructions.  You will need about 3 grams of the soap dough for each set of vampire teeth.  For our Vampire Melt and Pour Soap Recipe, we will need 8 sets of vampire teeth.  So, you will need a total of 24 grams of the soap dough.  However, this recipe makes about 9 ounces of soap dough.  So, you will have extra soap dough for later use.

103 grams Arrowroot Powder
24 grams Vegetable Glycerin
112 grams Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base
14 grams Fractionated Coconut Oil
13 grams Vamp Vogue Fragrance Oil
13 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer
3 grams Optiphen Preservative
30 drops Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant

Prepare the Soap Dough

Create the Arrowroot PasteCreate the Arrowroot Paste

So, in a small mixing bowl, weigh out 24 grams of Vegetable Glycerin and 21 grams Arrowroot Powder.  Then, blend these two ingredients with a fork to make a paste.  You can set this portion aside for the moment, we will come back to it.

Melt the Soap Base

Next, you will need to melt your soap base. So, you will need to first cut your soap base.  Then, in your microwave safe container, weigh out and melt 112 grams of Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base from Natures Garden.  Then, heat the soap in the microwave 30 seconds at a time. stir gently between each 30-second burst.  Keep melting until all soap base is in a liquid state.

Add the Vamp Vogue Fragrance OilAdd the Vamp Vogue Fragrance Oil

Once all the  diamond clear soap base is melted, add 14 grams Fractionated Coconut Oil, 13 grams of the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, and 13 grams Natures Garden’s Vamp Vogue Fragrance Oil.  Stir until all of the ingredients are blended together.  Then, add your paste mixture that you set aside to the melted clear soap mixture and stir thoroughly.

Add the Soap ColorantAdd the Soap Colorant

At this time, you will need to add your soap colorant.  We used 30 drops of the tomato red FUN Soap Colorant.  Mix well. Lastly, you will need to add the Optiphen. So, place your thermometer in the mixture and wait for the correct temperature.  Optiphen should be added to your mixture around 120F.  When your mixture is at this temperature, add 3 grams of the Optiphen.  Then, mix thoroughly.

Add Arrowroot PowderAdd Arrowroot Powder

Now, weigh out 80 grams of the Arrowroot Powder.  You will want to slowly add this ingredient, working it in with a fork.  So, add some of the arrowroot powder and blend it into the mixture.  Then, add a bit more.  Repeat this process until you have added all of the arrowroot powder.  As you add the powder the mixture will thicken.

Completing the Soap Play DoughCompleting the Soap Play Dough

Next, you will need to lay out a piece of wax paper.  Then, you will need an additional 2 grams of arrowroot powder.  This will be used to coat your hands as you work with the dough.  It will prevent the dough from sticking to your hands.  Coat your hands with the arrowroot powder and place the soap dough on your wax paper. Begin kneading your dough until you are able to roll it into a ball.  Then, roll your dough into a ball and allow set out 20 minutes. Finally, the soap play dough soap is ready to use.  Pull about 24 grams from the ball to use for your vampire teeth.  The remaining dough can be stored in a Ziploc bag for later use.

Using the Red Soap DoughUsing the Red Soap Dough

Next, you will need to fill each cavity of the vampire teeth mold using the red soap dough.  You will fill only the gum portion of the mold with the red soap putty.  If needed, use a cotton swab to clean the teeth area and remove any red soap dough that may have gotten into this part of the mold.

Prepare the White Melt and Pour Soap

Adding the White MP Soap for the Vampire TeethAdding the White MP Soap for the Vampire Teeth

In order to finish creating the vampire teeth, you will need to create the white mp soap portion of the teeth.  So, weigh out and melt 136 grams of the hemp oil melt and pour soap. Once melted, add 6 grams of Vamp Vogue Fragrance Oil and 6 grams of Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  Then, stir and pour the melted soap into each cavity of the vampire teeth mold. Lastly, spray the soap with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles. Let the teeth to fully setup before removing them from the mold.

Prepare the White Soap for the Loaf PortionPrepare the White Soap for the Loaf Portion

Prepare the white portion of the soap loaf. You will need to weigh out and melt 870 grams of the hemp oil soap base.  Once melted, add 43 grams of the Vamp Vogue Fragrance Oil. In addition, add 43 grams of the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  Stir to blend the ingredients together. Then, pour the melted soap into your two pound soap mold. Finally, spray the soap with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles. Be sure to allow the soap to setup completely before moving on.  Note:  If you are using the silicone 4 loaf mold, you will need to divide the soap equally between two of the cavities in the mold.

Prepare the Red Melt and Pour Soap

Prepare the Red Soap Loaf LayerPrepare the Red Soap Loaf Layer

Now, we will prepare the red layer of soap. So, melt 200 grams of the Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base.  Once melted, add 10 grams of the Vamp Vogue Fragrance Oil from Natures Garden, 10 grams of the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, and 6 drops of the Tomato Red FUN Soap.  Finally, spray the white soap that is in the soap mold with rubbing alcohol. Finally, pour the red soap directly on top of it.  Spray the red soap with rubbing alcohol.

Insert the Vampire TeethInsert the Vampire Teeth

Finally, we will begin placing the teeth in the soap loaf.  For this step, timing is extremely important.  You will want your red layer of soap to begin to setting up.  However, you do not want it to completely setup. It should have a somewhat thick film formed but should still be soft and will have a somewhat rubbery feel to it.  This is important because you need the soap to be soft enough that you can still press the fangs of the teeth into the soap loaf.  However, it needs to be hard enough that the teeth will stay standing. So, once the soap is ready, spray the red soap with rubbing alcohol. Then, gently press the teeth into the soap mold. Make sure that your place the teeth evenly throughout the soap mold.  Allow the soap to finish setting up before moving to the next step.

Cut the Soap LoafCut the Soap Loaf

Allow your soap loaf to completely setup.  Remove the soap from the mold.  Then, use the mitre box and mitre box cutter to slice your soap into eight bars.

Adding the Red Soap DripsAdding the Red Soap Drips

Our last step will be dripping the white soap with red soap to give it a dripping blood look.  So, we will drip bar of soap with red melt and pour soap.  Place each bar of soap on a piece of wax paper.  Then, you will need to melt 30 grams of Natures Garden’s Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap.  Then, add 1 gram of the Vamp Vogue Fragrance Oil and 1 gram Vanilla White Color Stabilizer. In addition, add 3 drops of the Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant and stir.  Next, using a disposable pipette, drip red soap vertically down the white soap. You want to give the soap the appearance of blood dripping from the teeth punctures. Once you have dripped each bar of soap with the red soap, allow the soap to finish setting up.  When your soap is done setting up, it is ready to use!

You are going to need a total of five squeeze bottles. You will need to prepare colorants for the white soap, lime green soap, yellow green soap, and neon green soap. While you will have four different colors, you will have two bottles of the white colored soap.

Cucumber Melons Soap Recipe: White Soap Colorant

For the white soap colorant, you are going to need two of the squeeze bottles. So, add 8 grams of the Titanium Dioxide and a small amount of liquid soaping oils to each of these bottles. You can set these two bottles aside for the moment.

This scent continues with hints of violet and a background of sweet, freshly sliced honeydew melon. Again, you will use a stick blender to incorporate this scent.

Coloring the SoapCucumber Melons Soap Recipe: Coloring the Soap

Now, you are going to use your scented soap batter to fill the squeeze bottles. You will want to fill each of your five squeeze bottles with soap batter. Once the squeeze bottles are filled, you will put the lid on and hold it closed. Then, shake to mix the colorant into your soap batter.

Filling the Soap MoldCucumber Melons Soap Recipe: Filling the Soap Mold

Adding the Yellow Green SoapCucumber Melons Soap Recipe: Adding the Yellow Green Soap

Slicing Your Soap BarsCucumber Melons Soap Recipe: Slicing Your Soap Bars

Now, you will need to wait for your homemade soap to set up before you can remove it from the wholesale soap mold. You will want to wait about 24 to 48 hours to ensure that the soap has set up enough to take out. Once you have removed your soap from the mold, you can slice your soap into individual bars. You can easily cut along the lines to create nine bars of cp soap.

Cucumber Melons Soap Recipe: Finishing Your Soap Recipe

Christmas Bath Cookies Recipe: Prepare the Bath Cookies

We will be preparing two parts when making our bath cookies.  First, we will be making the actual bath cookies.  Later, once they setup, we will be adding our frosting and sprinkle.  So, let’s start with the actual cookie bath fizzy.

Prepare the Bath Cookies: Weigh Out the Dry IngredientsPrepare the Bath Cookies: Weigh Out the Dry Ingredients

We will begin by weighing out our dry ingredients.  So, get out your mixing bowl.  Then, weigh and add 330 grams of your baking soda, 186 of the Epsom salt, 142 grams of your corn starch, 18 grams of Natures Garden’s kaolin white clay powder, and 54 grams powdered milk.  Next, with clean gloves on, use your hands to blend and mix the powders together.  If you notice any lumps in the mixture, be sure to break them up.  Set this bowl aside while we prepare the liquid portion of our recipe.

Prepare the Bath Cookies: Weighing Out and Melting the Wet IngredientsPrepare the Bath Cookies: Weighing Out and Melting the Wet Ingredients

Now, in a clean bowl, we will weigh out our wet ingredients that we will be melting.  So, in this bowl, weigh out 100 grams of your mango butter, 42 grams of your rice bran oil, and 50 grams of your cocoa butter golden natural.

Next, we will be melting the oil and butters using a double boiler.  So, you will need two pots.  One should be larger, the other smaller.  In the larger pot, add a few inches of water.  Then, place it on your stove top to heat.  In the smaller pot, add your butters and oil.  Now, place the small pot inside the large pot on the stove top.  Allow the oil and butter to melt, stirring occasionally.  By using a double boiler it will slowly melt the oils.  This will prevent them from melting too quickly and burning.

Prepare the Bath Cookies: Weighing Out and Melting the Wet IngredientsWhile you are waiting for your oils to melt, we will prepare our Christmas Cookies Fragrance Oil.  Due to the high vanilla content of Christmas Cookies Fragrance Oil, we will be adding Vanilla White Color Stabilizer to the cookie scent.  So, in a small bowl, add 20 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer and 20 grams Christmas Cookies Fragrance Oil.

Next, we will go back to oils you are melting on the stove.  Once these oils have fully melted, place them back in the bowl that you used to weight them out.  Finally, add the Christmas Cookies Fragrance Oil mixture you have prepared.

Christmas Bath Cookies Recipe:  Adding the Wet Ingredients to the Dry IngredientsChristmas Bath Cookies Recipe:  Adding the Wet Ingredients to the Dry Ingredients

Once you have prepared the wet ingredients, you will need both the dry, powdered ingredients in front of you.  I highly recommend wearing clean gloves.  Then, slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.  Mix everything together using your hands.  You want to make sure the entire mixture is fully blended.

Christmas Bath Cookies Recipe:  Adding the Wet Ingredients to the Dry IngredientsNext, we will be adding the citric acid.  Now, in many cases, we would add the citric acid right along with the dry powdered ingredients.  However, since we added Vanilla White Color Stabilizer we are adding the citric acid last.  You see, Vanilla White is water based.  So, it will activate the mixture causing it to fizz.  We will need to add the citric acid in small increments, mixing as we add it.  So, let’s go ahead and begin adding 151 grams of citric acid.  Add a small amount, then, use your hands to mix it in.  This will prevent the mixture from fizzing to much.  Continue this process until you have added all of the citric acid.  You want to be sure that all of your ingredients are fully combined before moving on.  When you are finished mixing you should have a dough-like consistency.

Christmas Bath Cookies Recipe:  Preparing the Bath CookiesChristmas Bath Cookies Recipe:  Preparing the Bath Cookies

Finally, we will be forming the bath cookies with our dough.  You will first mist your mixture lightly with witch hazel an then mix.  Then, form your cookie.  This is done in the same manner you would make a sugar cookie, for example.  Simply roll the dough between your hands to create a ball.  Then, press to flatten the cookie.  The size you create is entirely up to you.  However, ours were about an inch in diameter before we flattened them.  After forming a cookie you can either place it on wax paper or a silicone baking mat like I used.  When you have used up all of your dough, all you need to do is let your bath cookies setup up for a while.  They will need to completely setup before we frost them.  I allowed mine to set for a little over an hour.

Christmas Bath Cookies Recipe:  Preparing Our Whipped Frosting

Frosting your bath cookies is a fairly simple process.  It is very similar to frosting a regular cookie.  There is, however, one small difference, you will need to frost them very quickly.  Since we are using soap frosting, your frosting will setup rather quickly once the melt and pour soap is added.  So, just keep this in mind as you are working.

Christmas Bath Cookies Recipe: Preparing Your Whipped Soap BaseChristmas Bath Cookies Recipe: Preparing Your Whipped Soap Base

First, we will prepare the whipped soap base that will be used in the frosting.  You want to prepare this portion in a deep mixing bowl.  We will be using a hand mixer for the whipped soap.  For this recipe you will need to weigh out 150 grams of the whipped soap base.  Then, to the same bowl, add 15 grams of Natures Garden’s Christmas Cookies Fragrance Oil along with 15 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  In addition, add 30 grams of your vegetable glycerin and 5 drops Neon Green FUN Soap Colorant from Natures Garden.  While we chose to make our frosting green, you can use another color if you would like.

Christmas Bath Cookies Recipe: Preparing Your Whipped Soap Base

Once you have all of your ingredients in the mixing bowl, we will begin whipping the soap frosting.  So, get out your hand mixer.  Then, use your hand mixer to beat the soap base to a whipped frosting consistency. Once you have your soap frosting at the correct consistency set it aside while we prepare the melt and pour soap.

Christmas Bath Cookies Recipe: Preparing Your Melt and Pour Soap Base

Now, while we do have a lovely whipped frosting that we just prepared, without the addition of melt and pour soap, the frosting will not harden.  If the frosting does not harden, we will not be able to package our bath cookies.  So, in order to harden our frosting, we will be adding some cocoa butter melt and pour soap. We will be preparing this mp soap base in a separate mixing bowl.

Christmas Bath Cookies Recipe: Preparing Your Melt and Pour Soap BaseFirst, in your empty mixing bowl, weigh out 150 grams of your cocoa butter soap base.  Then, melt the soap base in the microwave.  You will need to melt your soap base in 30 second intervals.  Melt the base only until it is in a fluid state.  Be especially careful not to over-heat the mp base.  Once your soap is melted, you are ready to move on and begin putting everything together.  As you continue to move through the next few steps you will want to work quickly.

Christmas Bath Cookies Recipe: Putting the Soap Frosting TogetherChristmas Bath Cookies Recipe: Putting the Soap Frosting Together

Now, quickly get your bowl containing the whipped soap base.  To this bowl, add your melted cocoa butter soap.  Then, use your hand held mixer to combine the two together.  You want to mix on a low speed.  Continue to mix until you have a fluffy frosting consistency again.  Then, your whipped frosting is ready.  You are ready to frost your cookies

Finally, we will frost our bath cookies.  You will frost your bath cookies in the same manner you would a regular edible cookie.  The only difference is that you will have to work quickly so that your frosting does not setup before you are finished.  So, frost each of your cookies with your green frosting.

Once all of your Christmas bath cookies have been frosted, it is time to add sprinkles.  Sprinkle each cookie with a dash of sprinkles.  We chose to use red, green, and white sprinkle.  While you can choose to use whichever sprinkles you would like, we prefer the type pictured to the left.  We have found that this type of colorful sprinkle does not bleed as easily onto the frosting like others will.

Christmas Bath Cookies Recipe:  Using Your Christmas Bath Cookies

Your Christmas bath cookies are very simple to use.  All you have to do is add a bath cookie or two right two your warm bath water.  Then, lay back and relax your holiday troubles away.  The bath cookies will fizz like a bath bomb and have the added benefit of cocoa butter, mango butter, and rice bran oil.  We have also added Epsom salt to help you further relax.

We hope that you enjoy this Christmas Bath Cookies Recipe as much as we enjoyed making it with you.  For even more Christmas fragrance fun check out all of our free Christmas crafts.  Don’t forget to show us your creations.  Post pictures of your finished creations on our Facebook page.  You can also tag us on Instagram or Twitter @ngscents.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe History of Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Since the perfect combination of chocolate and strawberries seems so deliciously obvious, you may think that chocolate covered strawberries have been around forever. Although both the ingredients were around for ages, this wonderful culinary invention wasn’t created until the 1960’s. An amazing woman, Lorraine Lorusso, created the decadent treat in the gourmet shop she worked at and, as we all know, this treat became a sensation. Now, we all can enjoy the amazing success of this marvelous baker as well as enjoy the lovely scent that her creation inspired!

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparations

Before we begin you should make sure that your work station is clean and ready for you to work. Further, you should wash and dry all the equipment that you are going to be working with. Doing this will help to ensure that your finished product is clean, as well. Nothing is worse than finishing a project and finding a speck right on the surface. Additionally, you may find it easier to gather all your ingredients before you begin creating your soap. Although you can simply grab everything as you go, it can be helpful to have everything in your work space before starting. This will make are that you aren’t caught off guard and that you will have everything that you need as you need it.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Beginning with the Soap ColorsSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Beginning with the Soap Colors

First of all, you are going to focus on preparing the three color portions that you will need in a future step.Later on, you will add these colored pastes to separated portions of your melted soap base. Preparing the colors first will make it easier to work with the soap and add these colors later on. This way you will have more time to pour your soap batter. Also, it will be less likely for you to have your soap set up before it gets in the mold. So, take your three disposable cups and assign each one to a different color. You will need to make sure you have a cup for the pink, white, and brown portions of your soap.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the Pink Colorant PortionSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the Pink Colorant Portion

Now, we are going to get the pink soap colorant portion ready for you to use in a later step. So, retrieve your scale and set it to measure in grams. Next, add 7 grams of the Rose Clay, 15 grams of the Vegetable Glycerin, and 10 drops of the Neon Pink Soap Colorant to one of your disposable cups. Then, stir this mixture into a paste and make sure that all the ingredients are incorporated. After, set this mixture aside until after you melt the soap base.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the Brown Colorant PortionSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the Brown Colorant Portion

Next, you will be getting the brown colorant ready for that portion of the soap. So, use the scale to fill your next disposable cup with 7 grams of Cocoa Powder and 16 grams of Vegetable Glycerin. You will stir this until it is a paste consistency and has incorporated all the ingredients. Then, you can set aside this colorant mixture for you to use in a later step.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the White Colorant PortionSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the White Colorant Portion

Next, you will prepare the last portion of the colorants. So, grab the cup that is meant to contain the white portion of your soap colorant. Then, you can add 5 grams of Kaolin Clay Powder and 10 grams of Vegetable Glycerin to this remaining disposable cup. You will need to stir this to incorporate all the ingredients and create the proper consistency. Then, you can set the white colorant aside until you need it later on.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Melting the Soap BaseSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Melting the Soap Base

Now, you are ready to prepare the actual soap portion of your recipe. So, you will cut up and weigh out 904 grams of the Natures Garden Cocoa Butter Soap Base. Also, make sure that you put this soap base into a microwave safe, glass bowl. After you cut up the soap, you can use your microwave to melt the cocoa butter soap base. You will want to melt the soap with 30 second bursts and be sure to stir in between the heating times. This will prevent you from accidentally over heating the soap base. You will need to continue the melting and stirring cycle until the soap is entirely liquid.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Adding the Fragrance OilSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Adding the Fragrance Oil

Next, you will be adding a very scrumptious fragrance oil into the melted soap. So, you will need to weigh out 45 grams of the Chocolate Covered Strawberries Fragrance Oils. Then, you should take your newly melted soap base. After, you can add the weighed fragrance oil to the soap. Also, add in 45 grams of the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer to the melted soap. This will prevent some of the discoloration that could be caused by the fragrance oil. Since the fragrance has a 6% vanillin content, it would be likely to create a dark brown color in the soap if left on its own. This is why we need to add in the vanilla white stabilizer, as it prevents discoloration and allows us to color the soap as we see fit. After you have added the soap scent and Vanilla White, you can stir these ingredients into the soap to incorporate everything into the mixture.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Separating the Scented Soap BaseSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Separating the Scented Soap Base

Then, you need to separate the melted soap base. You will incorporate one of the three soap colorants you prepared earlier to each of the three containers. So, take each of the three containers of color and set them up nearby. Then, to the first mixing bowl, weigh about 301 grams of the melted soap base. Next, add your pink clay soap colorant. Next, in the second bowl, add 301 grams of the melted soap base.  Again, add your colorant, this time the cocoa powder colorant. Finally, you should have about 301 grams of soap left in the bowl that you used to originally melt the soap. To this bowl, add the kaolin white clay. Make sure that you mix well to incorporate all the ingredients in each bowl. Afterwards, you will be ready to pour your soap colors into the silicone soap loaf mold!

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Filling the Soap Mold

Now, it is time to fill your silicone soap mold with your colored soap portions. So, get your silicone loaf soap mold prepared in your work area. Know that you will have enough soap to fill two of the four loaf cavities in the soap mold. Also, you will need to grab two of your proportioned cups of colored soap, which two colors that you use initially is up to you. Then, use both your hands and pour these two different colors into the soap mold simultaneously. Add a bit with these two colors, then switch to the next color. You will pour these at the same time, as well. You will need to repeat this process of alternating these three colors and pouring two at a single time until you use up each of your three soap portions.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Adding the Finishing Touches on the SoapSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Adding the Finishing Touches on the Soap

Next, you are ready to add the finishing touches to the soap in your silicone soap loaf mold. So, take your spray bottle of rubbing alcohol and spray the top of your soap loaves. This will make sure that any air bubbles that may be in the soaps are released before the soap sets up completely. As a general rule, you should always spray rubbing alcohol after pouring melt and pour soap. Afterwards, you will need to wait for your soap loaves to completely set up before doing anything else for this craft recipe. If you move the soap before the loaves set up completely, then you could possibly mess up the tops of the soap. This could lead to a wrinkled appearance on top or even accidentally spilling the soaps.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Cutting the Finished Soap

After the soap completely sets up, you will be ready to remove your loaves of soap from the mold and slice the soaps into bars! Your soaps should be completely set up at this point, so pop the two soap loaves out of the silicone soap mold. Then, you can get these finished soap loaves ready to cut into individual bars of soap. So, use your mitre box and cutter to cleanly slice your bars into bars of soap that are the perfect size for use. Now, your soaps are finally finished!

Bubble Bar RecipeBubble Bar Recipe

Our next recipe is a homemade bubble bar.  Natures Garden has had a lot of requests for a bubble bar recipe.  Well, look no further read on for some bubbly fun!  For those of you that have never used a bubble bar, bubble bars are used to create a bubble bath.  However, instead of using a liquid bubble bath, they’re a solid bar that can be crumbled and added to your bath water.  They foam like crazy and are super fun to create.  I will say it takes some practice and can be tricky to roll out, but once you perfect your technique making them becomes an addiction.  You will find your creative juices are flowing and you can’t wait to make your next batch of bubble bars.

Note:  While we are giving both weight and volume measurements, we high recommend weighing the ingredients out.  This provides more accurate measurements and will give you better results when making your bubble bars.

272 grams (1 cup) Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
230 grams (1 cup) Sodium Bicarbonate – Baking Soda
112 grams (1/3 cup) Cream of Tartar
36 grams (1/3 cup) Corn Starch
110 grams (1/3 cup) Vegetable Glycerin
12 grams (1 TBSP) Avocado Oil
3 grams FUN Soap Colorant Jailhouse Red
3 grams FUN Soap Colorant Yelp Yellow
7 grams Mango and Mandarins Fragrance Oil

Bubble Bar Recipe Preparing the Dry Ingredients

Bubble Bar Recipe Preparing the Dry IngredientsBefore you begin you want to put on your protective clothing.  So, make sure you put on your gloves, glasses, and mask.  First, we will weigh out your dry ingredients.  In a deep mixing bowl weigh out 272 grams sodium lauryl sulfate or 1 cup, 230 grams or 1 cup Sodium Bicarbonate – Baking Soda, 112 grams Cream of Tartar or 1/3 cup, and 36 grams Corn Starch or 1/3 cup.  Next, use your hands to mix the ingredients together.  As you are mixing you want to make sure you are breaking up any clumps of powder you find.

Bubble Bar Recipe Adding the Wet Ingredients

Bubble Bar Recipe Adding the Wet IngredientsNow, we will add our wet ingredients.  First, add about 12 grams of avocado oil, which is the same as about 1 tablespoon.  Then,  add your vegetable glycerin.  You will need to add 110 grams or about 1/3 cup.  Next, add your fragrance oil. You will need to add 7 grams of the Mango and Mandarins Fragrance Oil.  Finally, use your hands to mix the ingredients together.  Make sure the ingredients are thoroughly and evenly combined.  You will end up with a dough like consistency.

Bubble Bar Recipe Coloring Your Dough

Bubble Bar Recipe Coloring Your DoughNow, we will begin dividing our dough.  For this recipe, we chose two colors.  So, go ahead and divide the dough into two equal parts.  We will need one half to be yellow and the other half a red-orange color.  Once you have divided your dough, place them in separate bowls.  Then, to the first bowl, add 3 grams of Jailhouse Red FUN Soap Colorant.  Use your hands to mix the dough and incorporate the colorant.  Then, roll the dough into a ball.  This will make it easier to roll out evenly.

Bubble Bar Recipe Coloring Your Dough

Next, to the other bowl with the remaining dough, you will be coloring, add about 3 grams of the Yelp Yellow FUN Soap Colorant.  Again, use your hands to incorporate the yellow colorant.  Once you have incorporated the colorant, you will want to roll the yellow portion into a ball as well.  Set this one aside, for now, we will come back to it after we roll out the jailhouse red dough.

Bubble Bar Recipe Rolling the Dough

Bubble Bar Recipe Rolling the DoughNext, we will begin rolling out our dough.  You want to place your dough on either a piece of parchment paper or a silicone rolling mat.  Dust the parchment paper with baking soda.  This will prevent the dough from sticking to the paper.  Be careful not to use too much.  Do the same with your rolling pin.  Now, flatten your coral colored dough a bit and then use your rolling pin to finish rolling out the dough.  If you would like, you can place a piece of parchment paper on top of the dough and roll.  This will help make the dough a little bit smoother.  You want to roll your dough out, creating a rectangular shape.  Then, place the yellow dough right on top of the coral colored dough.  Finally, roll the yellow dough out to match the shape and size of the previous layer as closely as you can.  It is okay if the layers don’t match up perfectly, just get as close as you can.

Bubble Bar Recipe Rolling the Dough into a Loaf

Bubble Bar Recipe Rolling the Dough into a Loaf

Finally, we will be rolling our dough.  First, we recommend transferring your dough to a clean piece of parchment paper or mat.  You want to start with the side closest to you.  Use your parchment paper to help you roll.  Roll a little, then pull the parchment paper back.  Then, roll a bit more, and again, pull the paper back.

Continue rolling until your bubble bar dough is a completely rolled loaf.  Once you have finished it will look sort of like a pumpkin roll or jelly roll, except a very pretty bright coral and yellow color.  One you have rolled the loaf carefully transfer it to a clean piece of parchment paper.

Bubble Bar Recipe Slicing Your Dough

Bubble Bar Recipe Slicing Your Dough

Now, you will begin slicing the dough.  You want to slice them in about 1 to 2 inch sections.  Once you have sliced your loaf you will need to wait for it to harden.  This will take about 24 hours.  However, it can take longer a few days.

Lastly, once your bubble bars have hardened, they are ready to use.  For the best results crumble your bubble bar under warm running bath water.  Then, sit back and enjoy a nice, relaxing bubble bath.  Show us your bubble bar creations!  We always love seeing how our customers have used our products.  Tag us on Instagram @ngscents or post pictures on our Facebook page.  For even more recipe ideas and classes, be sure to check out our recipe box here.

24K Gold Mica Pigment
8 oz. White PET Bullet Bottles (2)

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Other Equipment and Supplies You Will Need

Rubbing Alcohol – In a spray bottle
Witch Hazel –  In a spray bottle
Scale
Mixing Bowls
Mixing Spoons

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Total Ingredient Amounts Needed

132 grams Citric Acid
263 grams Baking Soda –  Sodium Bicarbonate
68 grams Corn Starch
30 grams Coconut Oil 76
10 grams Natures Garden’s Ginger Lime Fragrance Oil
5 grams French Green Clay Powder
5 grams FUN Soap Colorant Yellow Oxide

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Preparations Prior to Starting

First, you will need the two empty white 8 ounce PET bullet bottles. In the first bottle, add your rubbing alcohol. In your second bottle, put the witch hazel. Then, place one of your 24/410 white fine mist sprayers on each bottle.  You can set these aside for the moment we will come back to them in a bit. Next, we recommend wearing an apron, hair net and gloves when you prepare the Golden Clover Bath Fizzies. If you’re anything like me, you will get messy!  Go ahead and put those on before you start mixing.  In addition, begin to melt the coconut oil 76.  You can melt the coconut oil by placing your sealed bottle or jug in a bowl of warm tap water.  Since coconut oil 76 has a low melt point of 76 degrees, it will not take too long for it to melt.  I only needed about 5 minutes for mine to melt.

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Weighing Out the Dry Ingredients

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Weighing Out the Dry IngredientsNow you will need your scale.  Using your scale, set to weigh in grams, add the baking soda.  You will need 263 grams.  Then, add 5 grams of your French green clay powder. Lastly, you want to add 68 grams of your corn starch.  Use your hands to mix the ingredients together thoroughly. Also, be sure to break up any clumps you may find in the bowl as you are mixing.

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Adding the Wet Ingredients

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Adding the Wet IngredientsNext we will weigh out and add all of the wet ingredients. This includes your fragrance oil, coconut oil 76, and yellow oxide color.  First, weigh out 30 grams of the coconut oil 76 you began melting earlier.  Add it to your bowl of dry ingredients.  Again, use your hands to combine the ingredients evenly and fully.  Now, add 10 grams of Natures Garden’s Ginger Lime Fragrance Oil. Mix well.  Finally, add the 5 grams of FUN Soap Colorant Yellow Oxide. Use your hands to incorporate your color.  Make sure you mix everything fully and evenly.

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Adding the Citric Acid

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Adding the Citric AcidThe last ingredient we will be adding is the citric acid. It is the combination of baking soda and citric acid added to water that creates the fizzing action of the finished bath bomb.  To the bowl containing the other ingredients, add the citric acid.  You will need to add 132 grams.  Once you have it in the bowl, you will once again need to use your hands to incorporate everything together.

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Preparing the Mixture for the Molds

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Preparing the Mixture for the MoldsFor this step you will want to get the silicone shamrock mold out and the bottle of witch hazel you prepared earlier.  Now, begin lightly spritzing the Golden Clover Bath Fizzy mixture with the witch hazel. As you are spraying mix the ingredients with your hands. Continue spray and mixing until you have wet sand like consistency or a crumbly dough.  Be careful not to over spray the mixture.  If you spray them with too much much witch hazel, you will activate the citric acid.  This will leave you bath bomb without fizz.

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Putting the Bath Fizzies in the Mold

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Putting the Bath Fizzies in the MoldWhen you are ready, begin adding the mixture to the mold.  You want to make sure you pack the molds tightly. This recipe will make four gold bath bombs shaped like shamrocks. Once you have filled four cavities of the silicone mold, allow the bath bombs to set up overnight.  Since silicone molds are super flexible, removal is a snap.  Simply press gently on the bottom of the mold.  They will come right out for you.  You can turn the mold upside down and press as well.  However, if you do it this way make sure you have a piece of cardboard or something similar under the mold.  If the mold drops, it will likely crack.

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Making them Shine

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Making them ShineFor this step you will need the bottle of rubbing alcohol you prepared earlier in the recipe. You will also need a mixing bowl. I used a medium sized bowl.  It will catch the mica as you sprinkle your fizzy.  Begin by spraying the first bath fizzy lightly with rubbing alcohol. Then, hold it over the medium sized bowl.  Next, sprinkle Natures Garden’s 24k gold mica pigment over the bath bomb. Continue sprinkling the 24k gold mica pigment until the entire shamrock is covered with mica. Finally, gently shake off any extra mica into the bowl. Repeat this process until each clover fizzy is covered in gold.

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Using your Handmade Bath Fizzy

Golden Clover Bath Bombs Recipe Using your Bath FizzyFinally, when using the gold bath fizzies, simply place one in your bathtub. Then, let it fizz and sparkle. However, we should mention, your tub will likely be slippery when you are getting out. Be extra careful.  It might also require a little extra cleaning to your bathtub, but it is well worth it!  You will shimmer and glow all day long!  Plus, your skin we thank you for the coconut oil treat!
