Five Bath Salt RecipesFive Bath Salt Recipes

We are excited to be sharing five new bath salt recipes with you all today! Each of these bath salts use only a few ingredients and they have very simple steps to follow along with. These are a fun way to incorporate natural flowers, herbs, and powders into your handcrafted recipes. The herbal ingredients we chose to use contain a lot of benefits and are sure to soothe you and your skin during bath time. We also use these herbs from Natures Garden to make massage oil, bath melts, and sugar scrubs. Many other recipes use our powders as well, including facial masks, bath bombs, and cold process soap. You can also check out some of our soap making recipes to make your own soaps too. Now we can get started on making these five bath salt recipes!

The Benefits of Using a Bath Salt Recipe

If you have never used a bath salt before in your bath, then we will give you benefits that bath salts can provide to you. There are many natural minerals that are used in bath salts, and one of the benefits that you can get from using these is to draw out impurities from your skin. Also, if you are always working in outdoor environments, there are certain bath salts that you can make that will draw out different toxins, oil, and dirt from your skin. This will leave you with a sense of always feeling squeaky clean after every use. If you also have issues with blood circulation and are always feeling drained, then some bath salts can help circulate blood through your body.

Different Herbs that you Can Use in Your Bath Salt Recipe

Your options aren’t limited when it comes to the number of different herbs that you can use with your bath salts. Each herb contains its own share of benefits, and there are many available for you to use. One of the more popular herbs that you can use in your bath salts is lavender. Lavender, when used in bath salts, has been known to remove nervous tension, and relax the user. Another herb that can be used is rose petals. Rose petals have a natural oil that is secreted in warm water that keeps skin moisturized, soft, and glowing. There are many other herbs you can use and try to experiment with to create your own bath bomb recipe!

We mentioned fillable teabags in the ingredients because of the flowers in these bath salts. Some people prefer to use a teabag with recipes like this in order to avoid herbs going down their drain. This is optional and is completely up to your personal preference. Another unique feature about this bath salt recipe is that it also uses whole lavender flowers. Once again, you can use a fillable tea bag to put the chamomile and calendula flowers so they do not go down your drain. An amazing benefit of using chamomile flowers in your bath salt is that it contains many great antioxidants. These antioxidants will help with protecting your skin from any external free radicals. Also, the chamomile will help you to relax when in the bathtub if you’ve had a rough day.

How to use Castor Oil in Soap

There are a lot of different oils available that you can use to add to your soap recipe. Soap contains fatty acids which these oils make up. One oil that stands out is Castor Oil, and I’m going to explain how to use castor oil in soap. Castor Oil is commonly used in cold process soaps to give it a very lathery feel, and is all around a wonderful product to use. You aren’t only limited to soaps though, castor oil can be used in different cosmetic skin oils, bath products, lip products, and many other different products. Explained below are a lot of different benefits you can get out of castor oil, and some of our recipes that we’ve created using it.

Castor Oil Usage Rates in Cold Processed SoapCastor Oil Usage Rates in Cold Process Soap

The basic foundation of making any type of soap is mixing fatty acids, lye, and water. For cold process soaps, or any soap in general, NaOH is the preferred lye compound to use. Castor oil is used in the category of fatty acids, as it is made up of three different acids. The fatty acids are identified below with their percentage amount used in the castor oil composition. It is recommended that 5%-8% of castor oil is used in any cold process or hot process soap recipe. Using anywhere above 10% is known to make your soap really stick and unappealing to use.  Also, to saponify one gram of Castor Oil, you need to add .128-.180mg of NaOH for cold processed soap. Castor oil is also known to have a shelf life of one year after opening.

Ricinoleic – 90%
Oleic – 4%
Linoleic – 4%

Properties of Castor Oil

There are many unique properties associated with castor oil that make it a great oil choice to use in cold process soap. Castor Oil is a humectant, which means that it attracts moisture to your skin. Due to this property, it’s great to use in cold process soap, because it’ll allow you to retain moisture when using.  You can also add castor oil to lip balms and massage oils to create a silky glide. The silky glide will make applying the product way easier. On top of its moisturizing qualities, this oil is also known to provide hair growth stimulation as well. Just add the oil to any of our soap or conditioner recipes to see it’s full effects. Adding this oil to cold process soap will also make it more conditioning, thus allowing your hands to be softer after use.

There are a lot of other methods that you can use to relieve your sinuses. Many methods are all homemade, and this article, How to Relieve Sinus Pressure, from Medical News Today outlines some home remedies for sinus relief. One of the more commonly used methods mentioned in the article is steam inhalation. This method helps to open the pores in the nasal passages, and allows the build up to flow out the nose. Another method is by using essential oils, and burning them through a diffuser. The diffuser will create a vapor cloud that is healthy to breathe, and great for opening up the nasal passages.

Cappuccino Coffee Cold Process Soap RecipeTen Coffee Craft Ideas Cappuccino Coffee Cold Process Soap Recipe

Do you love iced coffee? If so, you might end up loving this idea of a cappuccino soap. To me, this recipe showcases what the result would be if you turned your favorite iced coffee into a soap. Some of the ingredients in this recipe include freshly brewed coffee, coffee grounds, and whole coffee beans. The combination of all three of these make this soap smell delicious, just like a fresh pot of coffee!

Since this is a cold process soap, there is no heat added when creating it. Adding heat when making soap definitely helps it to cure more quickly. However, when there is no heat added as is the case for this recipe, the overall finish and look of your product will be more perfected than with hot processed soap. Yes, it will need more time to cure without having that element of heat, but it is worth it when the finished product looks amazing. Cold process soap usually has a better looking product in the end. This recipe will provide you with about four pounds of soap.

Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts RecipeTen Coffee Craft Ideas Christmas Coffee Wax Tarts Recipe

Christmas is right around the corner, and this recipe is perfect for the most wonderful time of the year. It could be a great gift for a friend or family member who enjoys melting candles or wax melts, especially because these are homemade. This is an easy recipe to follow and the mini muffin shaped molds make it extra cute! Baking endless cookies with family as Christmas approaches is one of the best things about the holidays. These wax tarts contain both Snickerdoodle Cookies fragrance oil and French Vanilla Coffee fragrance oil, and when these scents are combined, they make these tarts smell just like baking cookies around Christmas time! Our recipe here makes up to 24 wax tarts, which is plenty to keep both for yourself and as gifts to give to others.

Cinnanut Coffee Soap RecipeTen Coffee Craft Ideas Cinnanut Coffee Soap Recipe

Combining cinnamon and coffee? Yum!!! This mp soap recipe brings these two ingredients together in a wonderful way to make a deliciously scented soap. It contains our Cinnanut Columbian Cafe Fragrance Oil, which is one of Natures Garden’s original fragrances. It includes hints of butter, Brazil nuts, maple, and vanilla in addition to the cinnamon and the Columbian coffee notes.

This fragrance oil is used in many other products of ours as well. It performs very well with wow wax, joy wax, and soy wax when making candles. Some of the additional products we have used this fragrance oil in our body, bath, and perfume products. While the recipe above is a melt and pour soap, this coffee scent can also be used in cold processed soap. With this fragrance, there was no separation, no ricing, and no acceleration. As a soap, it has great scent retention and is strong in aroma beads.

Coffee Butter Scrub RecipeTen Coffee Craft Ideas Coffee Butter Scrub Recipe

This scrumptious Coffee Butter Scrub from Natures Garden is the perfect thing to add to your daily skin care routine.  It contains shea, cocoa, and mango butter which will make your skin feel soft and amazing! Our scrub acts as a 2 in 1 exfoliant and moisturizer. This coffee butter scrub contains real coffee grounds, which are used to exfoliate the body’s dead skin cells. The skin can then be rejuvenated, moisturized, and restored by the nutritious butters and oils that come from the combination of shea butter, mango butter, and cocoa butter. Plus, the recipe uses Cafe Mocha fragrance oil, which makes the butter scrub smell great as well. It contains scents of freshly brewed coffee, chocolate syrup, heavy cream, vanilla, and marshmallow–yummy!

Coffee Melt and Pour Soap RecipeTen Coffee Craft Ideas Coffee Melt and Pour Soap Recipe

Now that we have made cappuccino coffee soap and cinnanut coffee soap, let’s make regular coffee scented soap using our Goat’s Milk Melt and Pour Soap. This is different than hot and cold processed soap because it has already undergone the saponification process. Melt and pour soap comes in a premade base and does not need anything added to it, you just melt it!

Some of the ingredients included in this recipe are coffee grounds, cocoa butter, and Fresh Brewed Coffee World’s Best Fragrance Oil. Our cocoa butter is a saturated fat that is very hard. It is used in lip balms, lip gloss, lotions, massage bars, scrubs, and more because of its luxurious texture. The coffee fragrance oil used in this recipe can also be added to candles made from vegetable wax or paraffin wax. Another way to use it is to add it into cleaning products, perfumes and lotions, bath oils and bath gels, as well as in potpourri and incense. By following the instructions we have laid out, you will get a two pound batch of this coffee melt and pour soap.

Frappe Mocha Body Cream RecipeTen Coffee Craft Ideas Frappe Mocha Body Cream Recipe

Body creams are always a great thing to have on hand, especially as winter approaches. If your skin is anything like mine, it gets extremely dried out in the wintertime with the changes in weather and air quality. This is why body creams and lotions become my best friend in the months of winter. A product that moisturizes the skin, lasts me a long time, and smells great all at the same time is what I think everyone’s ideal cream would be!

Our frappe mocha body cream recipe will provide you with plenty of product that will last for months. This recipe makes four 4 ounce jars full of it! It combines cocoa butter, chocolate fudge fragrance oil, and NG world’s best coffee fragrance oil. The delicious scents from the chocolate fudge fragrance oil include dark chocolate, caramel, buttercream, vanilla cream, almond, and hazelnut. These different notes within the fragrance give an impression that reminds me of a frappuccino.

Coffee Bath Bomb RecipeTen Coffee Craft Ideas Coffee Bath Bomb Recipe

If you are anything like me, you love to take a bath every once in awhile to wind down and relax. Bath bombs are a great thing to add to any bath to add to that experience of relaxation. They are continually increasing in popularity in today’s market for cosmetics. Other fun products that you can use when you take a bath are bubble bars, bath salts, and bath truffles. All of these can enhance your bathing relaxation while helping give a great smell to the water.

This coffee bath bomb recipe of ours is the next best addition that you could add to your baths! If you follow this recipe, you will be able to get two large bath bombs out of the ingredients. We have MANY others that you can choose from on our website, some of which include cotton candy, pumpkin latte, and our gingersnap cookies bath bomb!

Gingerbread Latte Candle RecipeTen Coffee Craft Ideas Gingerbread Latte Candle Recipe

Speaking of gingersnaps, which are just a variation of gingerbread, we want to show you our recipe on how to make a gingerbread latte candle! This is the perfect way to get you in the holiday season mood. One of my favorite activities to do every year around Christmas time is building gingerbread houses. The smell of this candle comes from the snickerdoodle latte fragrance. It contains a blend of spices, vanilla butter cream, and a hint of toasted nuts. This recipe brings together the smell and look of Christmas. The candle smells like snickerdoodle cookies and part of it is in the traditional shape of a gingerbread man. It gets poured into a cafe mug and a gingerbread man that is created from a mold is placed on top to create an adorable presentation!

Toffee Crunch Latte Foaming Sugar Scrub RecipeTen Coffee Craft Ideas Toffee Crunch Latte Foaming Sugar Scrub Recipe

Sugar scrubs are currently very popular because there are many different types and they have several benefits. They are great for the skin, as they remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and moisturize the body. Our toffee crunch latte foaming sugar scrub will give you five 4 ounce jars of the product. This recipe uses our cafe caramel fragrance oil.

One of my favorite coffee drinks to get is a caramel latte, which is always my go to order at any coffee shop, and this fragrance is a wonderful reminder of that. It contains strong notes of  freshly brewed coffee, sugary caramel, and heavy cream. Additionally, this fragrance is perfect for making candles, as well as other body related products such as soap and perfume. This scrub using the cafe caramel fragrance truly gives me the feeling of cozying up with a hot caramel latte in the fall.

Hair Conditioner Recipe for BrunettesTen Coffee Craft Ideas Hair Conditioner Recipe for Brunettes

If you are looking for a new conditioner to use on your hair, this would be a great one to give a try! This recipe of ours is specifically designed for those women out there with luscious brunette locks. It is made using plenty of ingredients that help the conditioner to give your hair a soft texture. These include Vegetable Glycerin, Sesame Seed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, and Vitamin E Oil. The Vegetable Glycerin is good for drawing out moisture in the skin. Some products that use it are shampoos, soap, lotion, toothpaste, and lip gloss. Sesame Seed Oil is rich both in vitamins and antioxidants, which help to make it a very conditioning oil. The texture and properties of this oil make it perfect for lotions, massage oils, scrubs, soaps, and lip gloss.

The Apricot Kernel Oil provides the same benefits, as it is also conditioning and luxurious. Vitamin E Oil is often used in cosmetic products to prevent oils from oxidizing. Using this will ensure that your creations do not begin to turn brown or discolor, as well as preventing a rancid smell from developing. Lastly, Optiphen is a preservative that kills germs to ensure that cosmetic products are clean and safe to use. The ingredients help the finished formulas to feel exceptional. This hair conditioner recipe combines each of these ingredients along with our Jamaican vanilla cafe fragrance oil. A true coffee scent is delivered through the hints of sweet vanilla beans, richly roasted Jamaican coffee, and the infusion of real coffee. This recipe makes up to 16 ounces of product in two 8 ounce bottles.

Bubbling Reindeer Poo Bath SaltsBubbling Reindeer Poo Bath Salts Recipe

The best time of the year is almost here! Spending time with family and exchanging gifts is always a huge part of the holidays. We at Natures Garden wanted to bring some joy to the holiday season this year and show you some fun recipes that you can create with your family! Our Bubbling Reindeer Poo Bath Salts recipe is the perfect Christmas craft to make for yourself, a family member, or a friend. These bath salts smell minty and refreshing while leaving your skin feeling super soft and silky. What could be better than that? Let’s get started on making these Bubbling Reindeer Poo Bath Salts!

Dead Sea SaltDead Sea Salt

In this recipe, you will be using Natures Garden’s Dead Sea Salt High Minerals Fine Ground salt. Dead Sea Salt is a dry, white crystal. This type of salt is named after the Dead Sea, which is found in Israel. The Dead Sea is made up of 29% salt, compared to a 4% salt content in oceans. It is known both for the health and medicinal benefits it brings, as well as the therapeutic effects and benefits it has. Each of these come from the minerals Dead Sea Salt consists of.

Benefits of Dead Sea Salt

Many properties and minerals that are beneficial to the human body can be found in Dead Sea Salt. These are magnesium, zinc, calcium, bromide, and potassium. Magnesium can help combat aging and stress and can calm the nervous system. Zinc is an anti-inflammatory, which soothes skin and helps reduce itching and any inflammation. Calcium can prevent water retention and increase circulation in the body. Bromide helps to reduce built up muscle retention. Lastly, potassium can provide energy to the body.

These minerals make it possible for Dead Sea Salt to be used in many different cosmetic products: soap bars, salt scrubs, bath bombs, air fresheners, and bath salts, which is what we will be discussing today. It is great for skin care treatment as well, including eczema, acne, psoriasis, and wrinkles. Natures Garden sells many other salts to make products from, including Epsom salt, Himalayan pink salt, and Hawaiian black salt. Now that you have a better understanding of the type of salt that will be used in this recipe, we can get into more details of the other ingredients involved.

Diamond Clear Melt Diamond Clear Melt and Pour SoapPour Soap

Another ingredient that we will be working with is the one of our mp soap bases. Natures Garden Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap is made up of 99.5% glycerin and coconut oil that has been purely deodorized and doubly distilled. These ingredients ensure that it is highly moisturizing with superior lathering qualities. All of our soap is gluten free, are not tested on animals, and do not contain any sort of animal fats. This soap is extremely easy to work with because all you have to do is melt it, add fragrance, add color, pour into molds, and take them out once they have cooled.

Reindeer Poo Fragrance OilReindeer Poo Fragrance Oil

Our Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil is a scent that is original to Natures Garden.  This is one of our best selling fragrances! Since Christmas time is coming up, this is a great scent to add to your creations to bring in the true feeling of the season. It is a complex note fragrance, which means that there are multiple layers to the scents that it emits. The opposite of complex note fragrances are single note fragrances, such as strawberry. A single note fragrance has only one scent throughout it, with no variation between layers, which is very unlike this one. The top notes of Reindeer Poo are apples and pears. The middle notes you will experience are eucalyptus, pine, and geranium. The base notes of this fragrance include vanilla, cedar wood, and patchouli. Eucalyptus and pine really give off the smell of a Christmas tree and are the most prominent in this oil. When they are all combined, it creates a holiday-filled scentsation.

Ingredients Found At Natures Garden:

BUBBLING REINDEER POO BATH SALTS RECIPE

Other Ingredients & Equipment You’ll Need:
Mixing Bowls (3)
Mixing Spoon
Spatula
Microwave
Cake Pan
Wax Paper

Total Recipe Weights:

120 grams Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap
186 grams Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate- SCI
744 grams Dead Sea Salt
52 grams Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil
10 drops Brown Oxide FUN Soap Colorants
6 drops Black Oxide FUN Soap Colorant
4 grams Ultramarine Blue FUN Soap Colorant

Before you start on making this recipe, it is important to make sure you have a clean and sanitized work area. Also wash your hands and sanitize all of your packaging materials. We also suggest that you wear gloves, protective clothing, and a hair net while preparing this recipe.

Preparing the Melt and Pour SoapPreparing the Melt and Pour Soap

Preparing our melt and pour soap is the first thing we are going to do for this recipe. We want to color it brown in order for it to be used as the poo portion of our final product. Use a scale to weigh out 120 grams of the diamond clear melt and pour soap. Then, you are going to melt the soap base in the microwave in 30 second intervals, until it is in a liquid state.  Once it has had enough time to fully melt, add ten drops of the black oxide colorant and six drops of the brown oxide FUN Soap Colorant. Our soap colorants do not take too much of an application to create the pigment you are looking for. In fact, 1/2 ounce of our liquid soap colorants will cover ten pounds of soap! After it has been added, stir your new mixture to incorporate the colorants fully.

Incorporating Natures Garden Reindeer Poo Fragrance OilIncorporating Natures Garden Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil

Next, you are going to add six grams of the Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil. Then, once again, mix everything together to blend the fragrance oil. Let’s get into the specific properties of this fragrance!

Pour the Soap Into Your MoldPour the Soap Into Your Mold

Now, we are going to pour the melted soap base, in a thin layer, either onto a pan that is lined with wax paper or into a silicone mold.  We decided to use the four cavities of the silicone 4 loaf soap mold.  Allow the soap enough time to get mostly setup.  You will need to give it time to set up without waiting too long, or it will no longer be warm.

A Variety of Molds

There are so many different molds to choose from at Natures Garden! If you wanted to make this recipe even more fun, you could use something besides the silicone 4 loaf soap mold to let your soap form in, such as embeds. We sell some different molds that can make this recipe even better for the holidays! Some of the options that we have are our Christmas Tree and Bulbs Embed Mold, Small Cross Embed Mold, Ornament Embed Mold, and our Gingerbread Man Mold Market Molds. Using any one of these molds could take these bath salts or other candle and body product recipes you are creating to the next level! We have many other non-holiday molds to choose from as well, you can find all of our soap molds here.

Shaping the MP SoapShaping the Soap

Now, use your hands to rip the molded soap into strips that are approximately ½” x 3”. We would not suggest using a knife to slice the soap because you do not want it to look too perfect or pristine. By ripping it, it looks more natural. After you have ripped your soap into these strips, roll them up and place them between the palms of your hands. Then, roll them between the palms of your hands rapidly to give them the look of natural poo. Keep repeating this process until all of your soap has been used.

Creating the Powdered Snow PortionCreating the Powdered Snow Portion

Finally, we will create the powdered portion of this recipe! First, you will need two bowls.  One will remain white in color, while the other will be colored blue.  To make the powdered portions, start by adding 372 grams of Dead Sea Salt to each bowl. Then, add 23 grams of Natures Garden Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil. Finally, you will need to add 93 grams of Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate to each bowl. This is a sodium salt ester or a fatty acid that derives from coconut oil. It creates a wetness, it solubilizes oils, and reduces surface tension. It can also be used to help with the property of foaming, which makes this product helpful.

Add the Blue Colorant to the Bath SaltsAdd the Blue Colorant to the Bath Salts

Next, you are going to add four grams of the Ultramarine Blue FUN Soap Colorant.  Use your hands to combine the contents of each bowl separately. Start with the bowl that will remain white in color. Mix each of the bowls until all of the contents are fully mixed and ensure that each of them are free of any clumps.

Incorporating the Reindeer Poo Melt and Pour SoapIncorporating the Reindeer Poo Melt and Pour Soap

Now, we will add to our mixture the reindeer poo that we rolled out and formed.  Make sure that you save a few of these pieces for the top of the jars when the bath salts recipe is completed. You will want these for the final look to turn out perfectly!

Finishing the Bubbling Reindeer Poo Bath Salts!Finishing the Bubbling Reindeer Poo Bath Salts!

Finally, we will begin adding our mixture to our jars. This recipe creates enough product to fill four 8 ounce jars. This is a perfect amount of bath salts because you can give three as gifts and keep one for yourself! Begin by scooping a layer of white powder mixture into your first jar. Then, add a layer of blue.  Continue layering until you have filled your jar.  Lastly, place a few of the pieces of poo on top.  Then, move on, filling your remaining jars.

Your homemade bubbling reindeer poo bath salts are now ready for you, friends, and family to use!  When you are ready to use them, simply place a few scoops from the jar under your warm running bath water, it will break apart and create a bubble bath!

Sandalwood Bath Bombs Ingredient Spotlight

Prior to preparing the sandalwood bath bomb recipe, let’s look at a few of the ingredients that we will be using today. Below, we will look at the scent, citric acid, pink salt, and a couple of the natural colorants that we will be using.

Sandalwood Fragrance OilSandalwood Fragrance Oil

This Nature’s Garden fragrance oil is a fan favorite. It is a strong and natural scent. Sandalwood fragrance oil will make some of the best soaps and lotions, but it goes so well in candles as well. Our customers love the distinct scent. Its robust earthy smell will leave an impression! The base notes are a wonderful blend of woody cedar and sandalwood. The simple mix of rose and jasmine for the top notes balance the fragrance oil perfectly.  This simple earthy fragrance says it all once the sandalwood bath bomb hits your tub!

Jojoba OilJojoba Oil

Did you know that Jojoba oil is actually a liquid wax? It’s used in a lot of lipsticks, lip glosses, lotions, and other bath products. This luxurious oil will produce a substantial lather in handmade soap making recipes and has amazing moisturizing qualities. Additionally, jojoba oil stays shelf stable longer than most other moisturizing oils.  We also have a blog about the tremendous benefits of jojoba oil.

Rose Clay PowderRose Clay powder

Rose clay powder is a gentle, natural clay that is amazing for almost any skin type! Most people refer to it by “pink clay”. Rose clay exfoliates and removes toxins from the skin. It can reduce irritation and inflammation! Rose clay is used for all kinds of cosmetics and other body products. It provides critical minerals for your skin, while also naturally coloring your products! This is a perfect way to change up your next project or even make your favorite recipe without other colorants.

Citric AcidCitric Acid

Citric acid is found naturally in citrus fruits of all kinds including lemons, oranges, grapefruits, and especially limes! It is a weak, natural acid that is used in cosmetics to lower the pH balance in certain formulas. It’s also really common in the bath product industry for bath bombs. This is one of the base ingredients that make it fizz once it comes in contact with the water! A lot of other industries use this as an ingredient as well. Food, beverage, and cleaning companies use this in all types of products. Citric acid is also found in a lot of foods that we consume every day. It has so many uses, can you name one?

Himalayan Pink Salt CoarseHimalayan Pink Salt Coarse

Did you know that Himalayan Pink Salt is one of the earth’s purest salts due to the location where it is mined? It’s found in seabeds that were once surrounded by lava! Many people know this product for its use in food. However, the cosmetic industry uses pink Himalayan salt for many types of products as well. Some products include scrubs, bath bombs, bath salts and cosmetics! This natural salt has many therapeutic qualities. It can help ease sore muscles, relax the body, ease arthritis, and help many other skin conditions. It has tremendous amounts of important minerals for your body.

Cocoa PowderCocoa Powder

Cocoa powder is a product of the cocoa tree that is native to Central and South America. The fruits only grow for a third of the year and get picked when they are a yellow-orange color.  The cocoa pods are harvested to make all kinds of products. Common products for cocoa powder are skin products, shampoos, conditioners, and many more beauty products! Cocoa powder helps hair become smoother and moisturizes your dead ends. Some believe it may even help with hair loss due to stress. This ingredient will help your skin to repair damaged areas. Did you know that the Aztecs and Mayans thought that the cocoa tree would bring them immortality?

Before You Begin Preparing the Sandalwood Bath Bombs

The best place to start with the sandalwood bath bomb recipe is gathering all of your ingredients and equipment. Also, clean and sanitize your work area, equipment, molds, and your packaging supplies. It is suggested that you wear gloves, protective clothing, and a hair net while making this recipe. Before you start, fill one of the bullet bottles with witch hazel and place a fine mist sprayer on top. Finally, you do not want to prepare this recipe in a humid area. Bath bombs can pull moisture from the air. This can cause a bath bomb to react and start to fizz.

Preparing The Dry IngredientsPreparing the Dry Ingredients

In a large, clean, and dry mixing bowl, weigh out your citric acid and baking soda. Then, mix the two ingredients thoroughly. Make sure there are no clumps! Clumps in the dry ingredients will leave this mixture unevenly distributed. A sifter or a fine mesh strainer can help this process, which is optional. When you are sure that it is evenly combined, set this bowl of ingredients off to the side.

Preparing the Wet ingredientsPreparing the Wet ingredients

Use a separate small mixing bowl. Weigh out the wet ingredients, then add the jojoba oil and the fragrance to this bowl. Stir together until they are completely combined.

Adding The Wet Ingredients To The DryAdding the Wet Ingredients to the Dry

Next, you will be adding the oils to your dry ingredients. The trick is adding them slowly, mixing with your hands as you go.  You want the wet ingredients to evenly be mixed into the dry.  Do your best to work out the clumps as much as possible. Once you have finished mixing everything together, divide the bath bomb mixture in half into two separate mixing bowls. Then you will be ready to start the coloring process!

Creating the Pink Bath Bomb MixtureCreating the Pink Bath Bomb Mixture

With one of the portions of the mixture in the mixing bowl, add the rose clay and the three drops of Tomato Red FUN soap colorant from Natures Garden. Now that the colorant is in the mixing bowl, thoroughly combine by using your hands to incorporate the coloring. You want to have an even color all the way through the mixture.

Spraying the Pink Bath Bomb Mixture with Witch HazelSpraying the Pink Bath Bomb Mixture with Witch Hazel

Once you are confident that it’s well incorporated, you will need the spray bottle of witch hazel. As you mix with your hands, begin to spray the mixture slowly. You are looking for a dough-like consistency. Be careful not to add too much at a time! You do not want to over activate the bath bomb. If it becomes too wet, it will not fizz in the bathtub.

Creating the Brown Bath Fizzy MixtureCreating the Brown Bath Fizzy Mixture

With the pink bath bomb mixture done, it’s time to create the brown bath fizzy mixture. Start by adding your cocoa powder and both colorants. Once those are in the mixture, make sure you spread the colorant throughout the entire bowl using your hands. You want to make sure you do not have any dark and light spots!

Spraying the Brown Mixture with Witch HazelSpraying the Brown Mixture with Witch Hazel

Again, now that it is combined completely, start spraying the ingredients with the witch hazel. Make sure that you do not soak the mixture. Lightly spray until it is at the desired consistency. A good way to test it is when you squeeze it with your hands, it will have a crumbly dough consistency. Now that you are done with this part of the recipe, you will want to move on to molding them fairly quickly.

Filling the Bath Bomb Molds

It is finally time to begin filling the bath bomb molds. We will be adding pink salt to one half of the mold. We will add the brown mixture to the same half and the pink bath fizzy mixture to the other half.

Adding the Himalayan Pink Salt to the Bath Bomb MoldsAdding the Himalayan Pink Salt to the Bath Bomb Molds

Start by placing about a gram of Himalayan coarse pink salt into the half of the mold that you will add the brown bath bomb mixture to. This recipe will create 6 handmade bath bombs.  So, you will need to prepare six bath bomb molds, filling one half of each set.

Filling Brown Half of the Bath Bomb MoldFilling Brown Half of the Bath Bomb Mold

On the same side that you added the pink salt, you will want to put the brown mix in. Fill it to the top and pack it down. By making sure the mixture is tight in the mold, it helps keep the bath fizzy together.

Next, begin filling the pink side of the bath fizzy mold. Make sure that the mold is completely filled and packed down. Pack the mixture tightly and evenly.

Now that both sides are filled, spray each half lightly with witch hazel. Then, press both halves together. The molds will lock together which keeps them in place. Once all of your molds are filled, allow the bath bombs to setup and harden. It helps to let them sit overnight.

Finishing And Packaging the Bath BombsFinishing And Packaging the Bath Bombs

Now that your bath bombs are hardened, you are ready to use them! Simply place one bath bomb into a relaxing bath and let them fizz as you soak your worries away.  These sandalwood bath bombs will have you smelling  and feeling fantastic!

If you are using these as a gift, you can package them in the mold. You can even add a bow and a name card! They make the perfect gift for a special occasion! If you want to reuse the mold, you can simply place the finished product into bags or wrap them. The options are endless! While storing these, make sure that they are in an airtight container. Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Preparing Your Work Space

Before you start, we would like to suggest that you make a few preparations. A pair of gloves is recommended, as you will need to mix with your hands. An apron may be useful to protect your clothing.  Also, a hair net and face mask are recommended. Second, you are going to want to prepare all your ingredients and supplies for this recipe. This will ensure that the project runs smoothly and you have all the materials that you need. Finally, you should clean your work space and equipment to make sure that your recipe will be clean and free of dirt.

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Weighing the Dry Ingredients

First, we are going to combine all of your dry ingredients into one of your mixing bowls. So, get a medium or large mixing bowl ready. Also, you will need a gram scale in order to measure these ingredients. Then, to your bow,l weigh out 460 grams of the Baking Soda, 410 grams of the Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, 224 grams of the Cream of Tartar, and 72 grams of the Corn Starch.

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Mixing the Dry IngredientsPink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Mixing the Dry Ingredients

Next, you are going to mix these previously measured ingredients together. You will need to make sure that these dry ingredients are mixed together well before moving on to the next step. Also, make sure you break up any clumps in the powders. This will ensure that each essential ingredient is evenly dispersed and clump-free throughout your entire batch.

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Weighing the Wet IngredientsPink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Weighing the Wet Ingredients

Now, you are going to weigh your wet ingredients. You can do this part of the recipe one of two ways. You could weigh your ingredients into a small bowl and transfer them into your large mixing bowl of dry ingredients. Alternatively, you can measure the wet ingredients into the same mixing bowl as your dry ingredients. Either way you will need to measure out 200 grams of the vegetable glycerin, 24 grams of the rice bran oil, and 14 grams of the Spring Rain Fragrance Oil.

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Combining the Wet and Dry IngredientsPink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Combining the Wet and Dry Ingredients

Now that both your wet and dry ingredients have been measured into your large mixing bowl you are ready to mix. Use your clean, gloved hands to mix together all of your ingredients. It is important that you mix these together well because you will be dividing the dough into portions. So, you will want to make sure that each portion has about the same amount of the ingredients.

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Separating the Batch

Next, you are going to be separating your mixed bubble bar dough into two equal portions. So, grab your two other mixing bowls. You will need to put half of your batch into each of the bowls. You can eyeball the amounts or measure them if your would prefer. But, you just need to make sure that there is about half in each bowl.

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe:Preparing the White PortionPink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe:Preparing the White Portion

The white portion of your batch is very simple to prepare. The hardest part is making sure that this bowl contains about half of the total dough. After, you have divided up your batch just roll the uncolored bubble bar into a ball. You can leave this white bubble bar dough ball in this bowl until we are ready to roll out the layers. So, you can move on to preparing the other half of this recipe.

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Preparing the Pink PortionPink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Finish Preparing the Pink Portion

The second portion of the bubble bar dough is going to a bit more fun. While the first portion of this recipe was left uncolored, this section is going to be made a pretty shade of pink. Plus, this half of the bubble bar dough even uses Himalayan Pink Salt. This will create a pretty pink layer that would be wonderful for a diy salt soak. So, lets get started on creating the fun half of this bubble bar recipe!

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Adding the Colorant to the Pink PortionPink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Adding the Colorant to the Pink Portion

Now, you are going to prepare the other half of your bubble bar dough. So, take this second half and add in three drops of the Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant. This amount is perfect for giving us a pretty shade of pink for this layer of the bubble bar. You will need to use your gloved hands to mix this color into the dough evenly. You will want to want sure that you don’t have any specks of dye left unincorporated.

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Adding the Colorant to the Pink PortionPink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Adding the Colorant to the Pink Portion

Now that this portion is colored, you will need to finish up this half of the batch. First, you are going to add in the Himalayan Pink Salt to your dough. So, weigh out 10 grams of the fine ground pink salt. Make sure that you mix this ingredient into the dough very well. Once all of the fine pink salt has been incorporated you can roll the dough into a ball. Now, you are ready for the next step in the process.

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Flattening Out the DoughPink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Flattening Out the Dough

Next, you are going to be rolling out the dough. Before you start you are going to want to lay down either a silicone mat or a piece of parchment paper. This will be used to roll our bubble bar once we have made our layers. Then, you will need to sprinkle this mat or paper with a bit of baking soda. This will make sure that your bubble bar is easy to roll and doesn’t stick to your mat or paper.

Our outside layer is going to be the pink portion, so you will need to roll this portion out first. You will need to use a rolling pin to flatten out this bubble bar dough. Try to roll the dough into a rectangular shape. Also, you will want the dough to be about a quarter inch thick.

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Flattening Out the Second LayerPink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Flattening Out the Second Layer

After your first layer has been rolled out, you are ready to flatten out the second layer. So, take your uncolored dough ball and place it right on top of the pink layer. Now, flatten this layer out to match the rectangular shape of the first layer. You will be finished once the layers are about the same thickness and size. But, you don’t need to be exact. The slight imperfections will add to the uniqueness of each bubble bar!

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Creating the RollPink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Creating the Roll

Now that your two layers have been made you are ready to roll your bubble bar loaf. So, turn your parchment paper of silicone mat vertically, as shown to the right. Next, you will lift up the edge that is closest to you. You will need to begin to roll the dough onto itself. This process is similar to how you would wrap a jelly roll or pumpkin roll. You will want to go slowly as you roll and continue until all of the dough has been rolled into the loaf.

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Topping the Bubble BarPink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Topping the Bubble Bar

Once the bubble bar loaf has been created, you are ready to start decorating the top of your bath and body product. Part of the decorating will be done with Coarse Ground Himalayan Pink Salt. You will be sprinkling the top of the loaf with the coarse ground pink salt. You should need about 20 grams of this for the top, but you can use more or less as you see fit. Also, you will need you slightly press the sprinkled pink salt into the top of the loaf. Otherwise, the pink salt will be likely to fall off easily and you will lose all of your pretty shades of pink salt.

Pink Salt Bubble Bar Recipe: Adding The Mica Dust

The other ingredient that you will use to decorate is mica dust. This lovely powder is perfect for creating a bath and body product that shimmers and shines. For this recipe you will use both the 24k Gold Mica Pigment and the Diamond Dust Mica Pigment. Liberally sprinkle the top of your loaf with each mica powder. After, use a craft brush to remove any excess mica. Dusting off the mica will make sure that your bars don’t have streaks of gold mica after you slice your bars.
