Soaping Oil PropertiesIngredients Highlight: Soaping Oil Properties

Before we get started, it is important to understand the reasoning behind using the oils that we did. Every oil has specific properties and purposes which are different from other oils. In this recipe, we used Coconut Oil 76, Avocado Oil, and Palm Oil. Each of these adds to the consistency of the body scrub and what purposes that it serves. We actually have a class on our website that is all about learning the different properties of commonly used soaping oils. In this class, we mention characteristics such as hardness, cleansing, conditioning, bubbly lather, and creamy lather. Each of these are based on a range of 1 to 100. Every oil that you will encounter contains different levels of these characteristics, and therefore will add different things to each creation that you make. The oils that you choose to work with and incorporate into your recipes will really depend on what kind of product that you want to achieve. There are definitely some benefits to each kind of oil, but some of them can replace each other in homemade soap making and other types of recipes.

Coconut Oil 76Coconut Oil 76

Beginning with Coconut Oil 76, the hardness level is a 79. The cleansing and bubbly lather properties are both rated a 67. The conditioning is a 10 and the creamy lather is a 12. With all of this being said, we can see that Coconut Oil 76 is decent for cleansing, lathering, and can be useful when making a hard soap because it is high in hardness. However, it will not be conditioning or have much creaminess to it.

Avocado OilAvocado Oil

The next oil we are going to look at is Avocado Oil. This is an oil that is fairly high in conditioning, at a 70. This was a great oil to add to this scrub recipe to make your skin soft when it is applied to the body. When it comes to the hardness and creamy lather, they are rated at a 22, which is pretty low. Avocado Oil does not contribute to cleansing or bubbly lather at all since they are rated at a zero for both of them.

Palm OilPalm Oil

Lastly, we are going to talk about Palm Oil. The level of hardness is a 50, cleansing is at a 1, the conditioning properties is a 49, bubbly lather is a 1, and the creamy lather is a 49. As you can tell from these numbers, Palm Oil is hardly cleansing at all, as well as having next to no bubbly lather to it. The Coconut Oil 76 contributes somewhat to cleansing, but the avocado oil and palm oil do not at all. The same is true with the bubbly lather. Since this is the case, and we all want our facial and body scrubs to be very cleansing to our skin, that is where the SLSA comes into play. We added in this ingredient because it is a nice foaming agent that helps create lather, mainly in soap, but also does in body scrubs somewhat. Another great thing about it is that it is super cleansing, which needed to be added to this recipe.

Mango ButterMango Butter

Another one of the ingredients that adds to the soft touch of this body scrub is Natures Garden mango butter. This butter is super soft and melts right on the skin. It contains many properties that help to really moisturize and soften the skin. It is a good ingredient to add to recipes to help with dry skin as well. Mango butter is commonly used to create lip balms, lip gloss, lotions, scrubs, and other bath and body products such as soap.

Weighing Out and Melting Your Oils and Mango ButterWeighing Out and Melting Your Oils and Mango Butter

For our first step, we need to get out our scale. Weigh out the 136 grams of coconut oil, 113 grams of avocado oil, 62 grams of palm oil, 74 grams of mango butter, 50 grams of silky emulsifying wax, and 12 grams of candelilla wax. As we normally do, we used the double boiler method to melt all of these ingredients down together. Place a few inches of water into a regular stovetop pot and allow it to heat up. Only use a pot that is strictly for soap, cosmetic, and candle making. Add your pouring pot, with the oils and mango butter in it, to the stovetop pot once the water has had some time to heat up. As they are melting, stir it occasionally.

Adding in the Preservative and Fragrance OilAdding in the Preservative and Fragrance Oil

Once all of the oils have melted, remove them from the heat source on your stove. Before doing anything else, we need to let the mixture cool down a little bit. Allow the temperature of the melted mixture to drop to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, you can weigh out and add in the 5 grams of optiphen preservative, 5 grams of vitamin E oil, and 20 grams of the Sangria Punch Fragrance Oil. Stir in order to fully incorporate the ingredients.

Getting the temperature correct before adding the optiphen preservative is imperative. We suggest adding it anywhere between 120 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit. By adding it before reaching a temperature of at least 120 degrees, the emulsification process might not take place. This will lead to your mixture separating and becoming unstable, which will make it useless. However, adding it above a temperature of 140 degrees will burn the optiphen off and it will not properly preserve your product. Using optiphen is going to ensure that bacteria and germs do not grow on your scrub. Optiphen will kill different types of bacteria, yeast and mold, which makes adding it essential to a lot of cosmetic products and formulas. It is made up of Phenoxyethanol and Caprylyl Glycol, the latter of which provides a soft, nice feel to finished formulas. This makes it very useful in products such as sunscreen, lotion, shampoo, body wash, and other types of cream. Adding a preservative such as optiphen can give your creams and scrubs a longer shelf life of up to six months, which is quite a long time!

Sangria Punch Fragrance OilSangria Punch Fragrance Oil

One of the main ingredients used to create this foaming facial scrub is the Sangria Punch Fragrance Oil from Natures Garden. Since it is in the title of the recipe, this is no surprise. This is an original fragrance exclusively available at Natures Garden and is one of our many multi layered fragrance oils. When you smell it, it begins with delicious fruity top notes of orange, lemon, grape, apple, and lime. The middle notes give off scents of pomegranate and blackberries, sitting on a dry down sugary base. When it comes to using it in specific products, we suggest about a 10% maximum usage in candle waxes. For potpourri and incense, about a 50% maximum usage, and a 5% maximum usage in bath products, lotions, perfume, and cleaning supplies. It can also be used in cold process soap. When tested for cold process soap, the results showed no acceleration, no discoloration, no ricing, no separation, and it held the scent very well and was very strong.

Mixing the Dry Ingredients TogetherMixing the Dry Ingredients Together

In a mixing bowl, blend the granulated sugar, diamond dust mica pigment, and the sodium lauryl sulfoacetate. This is a new surfactant ingredient that we have recently been working with in some of our recipes. Blend the sugar, mica pigment, and SLSA together using your hands. This will make it a lot easier to incorporate all of the ingredients together compared to using a spoon. Additionally, remove any clumps you find in the mixture.

Combine the Liquid Ingredients with the Dry IngredientsCombine the Liquid Ingredients with the Dry Ingredients

Pour your liquid ingredients that are melted down into the bowl containing the dry sugar mixture ingredients. Thoroughly mix and stir the two together and ensure that there are no clumps of dry mixture left. This is important for when we pour into our jars so that the scrub is nice and smooth for application to the body.

Adding the FUN Soap ColorantAdding the FUN Soap Colorant

Once you have mixed the liquid ingredients with the dry sugar mixture, you can add the tomato red FUN soap colorant. We waited to add the colorant until this step, as opposed to when we added the vitamin E oil, optiphen preservative, and the Sangria Punch Fragrance Oil. This is because we knew the sugar mixture may lighten the color up. If we added the colorant before this step, we might have added too much of it, and we wanted to create a nice pink color as opposed to a dark red shade.

Pouring the Product into the JarsPouring the Product into the Jars

Now, you can finally add the scrub to each of your four jars. Place lids on each of them to finish up your scrub! This can be used right after it is poured in the jar if you are happy with its consistency. However, another option that you have is to wait at least a few hours or even a day to allow it to set up more. If you do wait for a little bit, the scrub will become a thicker consistency to work with. This will allow you to add more granulated sugar if you would like a thicker consistency. Either one of these options will work and it is truly up to whatever you prefer to do.

Lemon Peel BenefitsLemon Peel Benefits

There are many lemon peel benefits that you can use to benefit your body. Both the Lemon Peel Cut and Sifted and the Lemon Peel Powder from Natures Garden are perfect for nourishing your body inside and outside. You will love all the ways that you can use this bright citrus herb in your life. Not only can use this herb to enhance your food recipes, but you can use this herb to create lovely bath and body recipes. So, let’s get into all the benefits and properties of lemon peel.

Lemon Peel Benefits: Growing ConditionsLemon Peel Benefits: Growing Conditions

Lemon trees require a warm climate and are quite sensitive to the cold. The tree will become inactive below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, the fruit dies after being exposed to lower than 28 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes. So, they will need protection from frost, which can be helped by ensuring that your tree has enough water. Additionally, lemon trees should be provided with full sunlight. While these trees are temperature sensitive, they are able to tolerate many different types of soils. However, these trees will prefer soil that is slightly acidic and well-draining. Further, you should plant your tree in a hole that is slightly shorter than the root ball. Then, replace the dirt and tamp firmly.

For those in the United States, anyone that doesn’t live in a climate like Florida or California may want to plant your lemon tree indoors. As long as the pot is fairly large and the soil is well draining, the tree should be comfortable as an indoor plant. However, a typical lemon tree has the potential to grow to be 20 feet tall, so you will likely want to prune your tree as it gets too large.

However, the lemons require hot summers to develop the fruit. So, it may be less likely for an indoor tree to produce fruit if you don’t bring your plant outside in the summer. Luckily, there are dwarf lemon tree options, like the Meyer lemon, that are more likely to bear fruit. Since your plant will be inside, it is unlikely that pollinators, like bees, butterflies, and other bugs, can get to your plant. Instead, you can use a paintbrush or cotton swab to rub pollen within the flower. This increase your chance of fruit and lead to a better harvest.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use?What Type of Scrub Should I Use?

What type of scrub should I use? There are many different ways to create a homemade scrub. So, it all depends on what you are looking to exfoliate. In tough, damaged areas you may want a more exfoliating agent. But, you are going to want a gentle exfoliant for sensitive areas, like the face. Further, there are many different kinds of herbs that you can include in your scrub recipes to tailor the scrub to match your needs. For example, you may want to use poppy seeds or salt for a foot scrub for feet with dry, callused skin. If you have less dead skin on your feet, however, then you may want to use sugar or another herb. Plus, there are scrubs that are emulsified and scrubs that are not.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Emulsified vs Not Emulsified ScrubsWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Emulsified vs Not Emulsified Scrubs

First of all, there are two main types of body scrubs. One type is called an emulsified scrub. This uses an emulsifying ingredient that combines the oils with the other ingredients in the recipe. So, there are no oils seeping out of the recipe. However, there is another type that is not emulsified. While the oils and scrubbing ingredient are still mixed together, the oils aren’t connected to the rest of the recipe. So, you may have to mix the scrub again sometimes as the oils will seep out of the loose mixture and make it more difficult to grab all the ingredients.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Emulsified Homemade Salt ScrubWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Emulsified Homemade Salt Scrub

First, you can create some fantastic emulsified salt scrubs. The emulsified scrub blends the ingredients together to make sure that the oils and salt don’t separate. This will ensure that you don’t have oil collected on the top or the bottom of your salt mixture. Also, this scrub, due to the salt, is slightly more abrasive than sugar scrubs and can be used on areas of the body that have a lot of dry skin. So, anyone looking for a tough exfoliant will love this scrub. This scrub would create one of the best hand scrubs and a fantastic salt foot scrub! If you want a good salt scrub recipe, then the Margarita Salt Scrub Recipe would be perfect. This dead sea salt scrub recipe is amazing for exfoliation and is tough on dry, callused skin.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Emulsified Sugar ScrubWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Emulsified Sugar Scrub

Another great way to create an emulsified scrub is with sugar! Again, the recipe includes an emulsifying agent to keep all the ingredients together. The Emulsified Beet Sugar Scrub Recipe perfectly blends oils, sugar, and beetroot powder to create a perfect emulsified scrub. Our Watermelon Emulsified Sugar Scrub Recipe is another great recipe that combines cosmetic oils and white sugar. Another added benefit of creating an emulsified sugar scrub is that you can create layers like we did to create a watermelon appearance in the jar.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Un-emulsified ScrubsWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Not Emulsified Scrubs

Plus, you can create scrubs without an emulsifying agent. These scrubs have all the oils that nourish the skin and a strong exfoliator. The only difference is that all of these ingredients don’t contain an emulsifying agent. This means that even though everything is mixed, the oils aren’t bonded to the exfoliant. Our Citrus Peel Salt Scrub Recipe is a scrumptious salt scrub recipe with oils and powdered herbs that truly care for the skin. Also, the Himalayan Pink Salt Scrub Recipe combines lovely ingredients like nourishing oils and pink salt to create a fantastic scrub! Also, we have a more gentle scrub recipe, the Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe, that will care for your skin with lovely oils and feel less abrasive than a salt scrub.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Different Types of ExfoliantsWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Different Types of Exfoliants

While sugar and salt are some of the most common natural exfoliants, there are many other herbs that you can use in your scrub recipes. In fact, there are many herbs that can be used to exfoliate your skin. Another benefits of using these herbs is that there are all kinds of different levels of exfoliation. Some are tougher exfoliants than salt and others are more gentle than sugar. So, using some of the Herbs and Spices available on the NG site can provide you with a great range of option for your scrubs!

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Diy Body Coffee ScrubWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Diy Body Coffee Scrub

Another great ingredient for providing some scrubbing power to your recipes is real ground coffee. The coffee grounds provide light exfoliation that is great for a body scrub. One recipe that uses coffee as an exfoliant is our Coffee Butter Scrub Recipe. This homemade scrub combines luscious oils and butters with real coffee to create a magnificent scrub! The grounds provide a softer exfoliation than either sugar or salt. Plus, the grounds have an authentic coffee aroma that goes well on its own or blends perfectly with a coffee fragrance, like our Cafe Mocha Fragrance Oil.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Poppy Seed Scrub RecipeWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Poppy Seed Scrub Recipe

Also, you can use some poppy seeds in your homemade scrub recipe. Our Pampered Foot Scrub Recipe uses this cosmetic herb among other wonderful herbs and oils that will care for the skin. Since poppy seeds are hard and are great for exfoliating, we decided to create a foot recipe that will both defoliate as well as care for the skin.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Variations of Body ScrubsWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Variations of Body Scrubs

While these ingredients are not the main exfoliant in the scrub recipes, they are extremely useful when added to a scrub recipe! Some of these ingredients will add to the cleansing ability of the product, add a bit more gentle exfoliation to the exfoliant, or add skin nourishing vitamins and minerals to envelop the skin in luscious nourishment. If you want to learn about these ingredients, then check below for some of the herbs, butters, and oils that you can use in your own recipes.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Charcoal ScrubsWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Charcoal Scrubs

These ingredients would perfectly remove any dead skin as well as use these fantastic herbs to nourish the skin with vitamins and minerals. Plus, the organic cocoa powder and raw honey are perfect for nourishing the skin along with the lovely cosmetic oils, which include olive oil. So, this is a perfect recipe for anyone looking for a sugar scrub with sugar scrub recipe with olive oil.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Foaming Body ScrubsWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Foaming Body Scrubs

Another alternative type of scrub you can create is a foaming body scrub. These recipes include a foaming agent, SCI, that will provide your body scrub with a fun, foaming lather. Both the Foaming Body Scrub Recipe For Men Recipe and the Foaming Hibiscus Scrub Recipe contain this wonderful bath enhancing ingredient.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Solid Scrub Recipe

Another different way to create your own scrubs is a solid sugar soap scrub recipe! These recipes include melt and pour soap to create a cleansing scrub recipe that is perfect for the bath.  So, you can create a bath scrub like our Solid Sugar Scrub Recipe. This recipe cleans, exfoliates, and nourished the skin with oils. Additionally, you can create a solid salt scrub recipe, like our Solid Pink Salt Scrub Recipe, which uses a tougher exfoliant and is packaged in a clamshell container.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use?: How to Make Lip Scrub

If your lips are cracked, dry, and just begging for some exfoliation, then this is the perfect product to create. These sugary scrubs will gently remove your weathered, dead skin and reveal the vibrant lips hidden underneath. Plus, the sugar is a perfect way to naturally flavor your homemade lip care recipes. Further, the oils and butters included in these recipes will care for the newly emerged skin, This will keep your lips looking and feeling soft, healthy, and rejuvenated.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Diy Lip Scrub with Brown SugarWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Diy Lip Scrub with Brown Sugar

Brown sugar is a great exfoliant for your lips! This sugar is softer than white sugar but is still yummy and sweet. So, you can lightly exfoliate your lips to remove dry, damaged skin and have the added bonus of naturally sweetened lip balm. Our Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe and our Creme Brulee Lip Scrub Recipe are both delicious and perfect for lip care. Not only are these lip scrubs sweet and cute, but they contain ingredients that will nourish and care for the newly revealed skin.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Diy Lip Scrub with White SugarWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Diy Lip Scrub with White Sugar

Not only is sugar great for body scrubs, but it can be used in lip care products, too! This type of scrub is a bit more abrasive than brown sugar, so it is perfect for very dry lips with a bunch of dead skin. One quick and easy way to make a white sugar lip balm scrub is our Lip Scrub for Lip Balm Sticks Recipe. Also, our Natural Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe is just like our other recipe, but it adds an extra oil to care for the skin. Since these lip scrubs use a lip balm base it is very easy to create and could be a fun idea for mommy and me crafts!

What Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Homemade Scrubs for FaceWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Homemade Scrubs for Face

Another great idea for homemade body scrubs is a recipe for a face scrub. If you create a face scrub recipe, then you need to make sure that you are aware of what shouldn’t be in it. Firstly, make sure that you don’t choose a tough exfoliant like salt. Instead, try brown sugar, Kaolin Clay, or lavender buds.  Also, be cautious with your scent. Since fragrance oils may irritate the skin, I would suggest choosing a fragrant herb or leaving it unscented. Also, be sure to include oils that won’t clog pores, like Argan Oil or Sweet Almond Oil.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Why Use Natural Exfoliants?

Not only are these scrubs great for your body, but they are a better alternative for protecting the environment, too. Many commercial scrubs will use plastic beads instead of an exfoliating herb or mineral. While it may exfoliate, there are other products that work just as well, if not better, that won’t use plastic. So, buy more natural scrubs or make your own to protect our oceans. The article Scrubbing Out Sea Life on Slate to learn more and see more alternatives to plastic exfoliants.

5 Clamshell Containers
A tiny amount of the Diamond Mica Pigment

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Clean and Sanitize Before Working

Before you begin creating your recipe, make sure that the area you will be working in is clean. This will help protect your product from contamination, which could ruin your recipe. Plus, this preparation strategy will prevent you from running into space issues as you are working. First, remove anything in your work area that isn’t necessary for your project. This will give you the space you need to finish this craft. Second, make sure everything is sanitized. Otherwise, you could end up with dirt or debris in your completed pink salt scrubs. So, the safest way to create this recipe is to be prepared first.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Setting out the Clamshell Containers

Another way to be prepared is to set out the packaging. Before you begin, retrieve the five clamshell containers you will use when creating this recipe. You will need these clamshells quickly after you whip up the entire mixture. So, it will be very helpful to have the packaging immediately available. Otherwise, your soap scrub may set up before you add it to the clamshell containers. While the recipe would still be okay to use after this point, it will be near impossible to get the mixture into the clamshell containers. Not getting the mix into the clamshell containers will hinder the appearance of your product, as you will not be able to add the pretty topping to the scrubs.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Preparing the SaltsPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Preparing the Sea Salts

Also, you want to get the salt ready before you melt the soap. Melt and pour soap will set up quickly, so it is best that you have everything ready. So, weighing the salts before will provide you with more time to work. Now, weigh out 40 grams of the Himalayan Pink Sea Salt Coarse Ground in one of your bowls and weigh out 315 grams of the Himalayan Pink Salt Fine Ground in another of your bowls. These will be set aside for later use. The finely ground pink salt will be used as the main exfoliant within this salt scrub mixture. This will help remove any dead skin. Also, the coarsely ground pink salt will be added to the top to provide both the lovely appearance and some extra exfoliation.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Preparing The Melt and Pour SoapPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Preparing The Melt and Pour Soap

Next, you will be melting the soap for this pink scrub recipe. So, cut up and weigh out 170 grams of Nature’s Garden’s Soya Milk Melt and Pour Soap. Add this soap to a microwave safe bowl. You will want to melt the soap in 30-second increments, stirring in between as it is melting. Stirring as you go will disperse the heat more evenly so the soap will not overheat as you are melting your soya milk soap. Once all the soap is in liquid form, then you can stop heating the soap. After it is melted, it is time to move on to the next step.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding All of the OilsPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding All of the Oils

Now, we are going to add the oils to your recipe. These are the oils that are either beneficial for your skin or scenting the scrub. So, take your melted soap and quickly add your oil ingredients. First, weigh out and add 20 grams of the NG Sun and Sand Type Fragrance Oil to the soap. Mix this into the soap well. Now, add 15 grams of the Coconut Oil 76, 57 grams of the Sunflower Oil, and 40 grams of the Sweet Almond Oil. Again, stir well to mix these ingredients into the melt and pour soap.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding the Himalayan Pink Sea SaltPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding the Himalayan Pink Sea Salt

Next, you are going to be adding the salts you have already weighed. Be sure to move quickly as you move to this step because your soap will begin setting up pretty fast. Now, pour in the Fine Ground Himalayan Pink Salt that you have already weighed into the soap and oil mixture. You will want to fold the salt into the mixture quickly. However, you want to make sure that the pink salt has been incorporated well enough so that everything seems evenly mixed together. You don’t want the melt and pour soap to set up, but you don’t want the mixture to be uneven in areas.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Packaging the Mixture and Adding the ToppingPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Packaging the Mixture and Adding the Topping

Now, you are ready to package up your mixture by filling your clamshell containers. Begin by spooning the mixture into the clamshell containers. Then, you will use your fingers to work the pink salt scrub into each of the six cavities. You will want to pack everything fairly tight. Also, make sure to leave a little bit of room on top so that you are able to close the clamshells after adding the coarse pink salt on top. You don’t need much room, but you shouldn’t overfill the clamshell containers. After each of your clamshells fully packed, you will be adding the coarse ground Himalayan pink salt to the tops. So, place about 9 grams of the coarse ground Himalayan pink salt onto the top of each clamshell. Make sure to spread this out evenly over the entire top of the filled clamshell containers.  Finally, press gently so that the coarse pink salt sinks in slightly and stays in place.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding the GlitterPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding the Glitter

Now, you will add the shimmer to the tops of your nearly finished bath scrubs. You will less than a gram of both the Diamond Mica Pigment and the 24K Gold Mica Pigment. You will only be giving the tops of your pink salt scrub a light dusting with a tiny amount of the shiny mica dust. While you can dust separately with each of your two mica pigments, we recommend mixing the mica dusts before dusting.  We have found that this provides a more even dusting that prevents the colors from looking separate on your finished products. So, you would mix together about a tiny bit of the diamond dust mica and a tiny bit of the 24K gold mica together for a pretty mica blend that is lovely and shimmery.

Next, you will be adding a light dusting to your recipe. You can either do this with your spoon or a shaker. If you do not have a shaker or have another way to dust your solid salt scrub, then you will be fine using a spoon when applying the mica. We chose to use a shaker to evenly coat the tops of the salt scrub with the mica mixture. Also, you can lightly shake a spoon of the mica powder over the scrubs to provide a dusting, as well. Any way that you choose to add the shimmery shine, just make sure the sparkles are as evenly applied as you can possibly get.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Finished CreationPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Finished Creation

Finally, your solid scrub recipe is complete!  After you have finished, these bath scrubs will be immediately ready to use! You can use these to wash and exfoliate your hands or you can use these in the bath for a whole body experience. Either way, this is a wonderful recipe that combines the clean fun of melt and pour soap with the care caring properties of a typical salt scrub. So, you are truly set with this bath and body recipe!

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe The Mineral Benefits of Using Pink Himalayan Sea Salt in the Bath

First of all, Pink Himalayan Sea Salt is enriched with many minerals that a healthy human body should have. This includes minerals such as calcium, zinc, iron, and so many others. Including this in a bath product can provide all the benefits, since your skin can absorb some of these essential minerals through your skin. So, using this solid salt scrub in the bath could provide you with a mineral soak, which would be beneficial for your health and your skin. Plus, this pink sea salt is a gourmet salt that is kosher, food grade, all natural, organic compliant, and has high levels of beneficial minerals. Meaning that this is very beneficial for those that will use this solid salt scrub in the bath!

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe The Detoxifying Benefits of Using Pink Himalayan Sea Salt in the Bath

Further, the pink Himalayan sea salt has even more benefits for your skin. Not only is this pink sea salt beneficial for mineral absorption, but the salt can be used to detoxify your skin. In the bath, the Himalayan sea salt from your scrub will dissolve in the warm water of your bath. This combination will create an ionic solution, which means that the solution will be able to draw out toxins from your skin as you are soaking.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe The Skin Hydration Benefits of Using Pink Himalayan Sea Salt in the Bath

Also, soaking in a bath of pink sea salt is great for hydrating your skin. This is because our bodies readily absorbing the Himalayan sea salt and where the salt is stored. Since the sea salt remains in the outer layers of the skin, it binds to water molecules. This prevents the water from escaping from your skin as easily, which will leave your skin more moisturized. Additionally, the pink salt in this solid scrub is beneficial for relieving skin issues. This lovely salt is useful for helping to heal issues one may have with their skin, such as acne, eczema, or blisters.

Foaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub Clean and Sanitize

Before you begin, make sure that all your equipment and your work space is sanitized. This will prevent possible contamination from using dirty utensils or setting those utensils on a dirty counter top. Also, having your work space tidy will help you create this recipe.  Not only will all your equipment be close and ready to use, but there won’t be anything impeding your ability to work. Now, lets get started!

Foaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub Making the Double Boiler

Also, you will want to know how to create the double boiler before we begin. If you already know how to create this melting device, then feel free to begin the recipe. However, those that aren’t sure how to put this together can read through this short step-by-step instruction on how to create a double boiler. We stress this importance because the double boiler is crucial to preventing your butters and oils from scorching.

First, get your small pot and your medium pot. The larger pot will contain the boiling water and the smaller pot will contain the ingredients that you intend to have melting. So, add about an inch of water to the medium pot to start. Then, place your smaller pot inside the medium pot. You will need to adjust the water level so that it is at least touching the bottom of the small pot, but not high enough to boil over into your melting ingredients. Finally, you can turn on the stove top and add your ingredients to the small pot.

Foaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub Melting Your Butters and WaxFoaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub Melting Your Butters and Wax

First, you will need to melt the necessary ingredients for your scrub. Retrieve the scale and tare the weight of a bowl. Now, weigh out 136 grams of coconut oil 76, 113 grams of sweet almond oil, 62 grams of cocoa butter, 74 grams of shea butter, 50 grams of silky emulsifying wax, 20 grams of olive oil, and 12 grams of beeswax. After, you will be ready to melt your weighed ingredients. So, pour these ingredients into the small pot of your double boiler and set the stove to medium heat. Stir as the butters and wax melts and continue until everything has completely melted.

Foaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub Creating Hibiscus Flower PasteFoaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub Creating Hibiscus Flower Paste

While you wait for your ingredients to melt, you can begin creating the Hibiscus Flower Powder paste. So, weigh out 8 grams of Hibiscus Flower Powder and 20 grams of Vegetable Glycerin into a second bowl. You will need to mix these ingredients together very well until everything has been combined to create a paste consistency. Then, set this bowl aside for later use.

Foaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub After the Butters and Wax MeltFoaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub After the Butters and Wax Melt

Now, we will be adding a few more ingredients to the larger mixture, which is made of butters, oils, and wax. So, wait for the butters and wax to finish melting. After all the ingredients are melted, transfer these ingredients to a bowl. Now, allow your mixture to cool to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature is important as it prevents the preservative or other ingredients from burning off. Then, it is time for you to add 5 grams of optiphen preservative,5 grams of vitamin E oil, 121 grams of sodium cocoyl isethionate, and 20 grams of Hawaiian Sea Mist Fragrance Oil to your melted mixture. Be sure to mix thoroughly and incorporate all the added ingredients.

Foaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub Adding the Whit Granulated Sugar Foaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub Adding the Whit Granulated Sugar

Next, you will add the sugar to the larger mixture of melted ingredients. So, weight out 680 grams of the white granulated sugar in a separate bowl. Then, slowly add the sugar to your mixture while you are whisking. This well incorporate all of the oils into the added sugar to create a well combined sugar scrub mixture.

Foaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub Adding the Hibiscus Flower Powder Mixture Foaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub Adding the Hibiscus Flower Powder Mixture

Then, you can add the Hibiscus Flower Powder paste to the larger mixture. So, retrieve the paste that you have set aside in a previous step. Now, add the Hibiscus flower powder paste to your larger mixture. Again, make sure that you mix thoroughly to disperse the Hibiscus Flower Powder completely. However, incorporating this ingredient may be a bit more difficult as it is a thicker paste. While it may take more work, just keep mixing until the paste is dispersed evenly through the entire bowl.

Foaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub Adding the Hibiscus Scrub to the JarsFoaming Hibiscus Sugar Scrub Adding the Hibiscus Scrub to the Jars

Finally, you are ready for the finishing touches for your foaming sugar scrub! First, allow your mixture to fully cool to room temperature. After, your will be able to pour your scrub into your nine 4 oz jars. We recommend using a spoon or spatula to scoop the mixture into your jars, but you can transfer the scrub anyway your want to do this.

Once all the sugar scrub mixture is put into the jars you can add the whole hibiscus flowers to the tops. Simply sprinkle a tiny bit on the top of each jar. Then, you can place the lids on the jars to either store or use the scrub. If you wish to use your foaming scrub, just scrub your hands under some warm, running water. Also, you can use this scrub in the shower as well. It will foam, soften you skin, and feel amazing. So, we are pretty sure that you are going to really enjoy this recipe!
