How to Make Soap WhiteHow to Make Soap White

Homemade soap making is the perfect way to show off your creativity. While appearance isn’t everything in a bar of soap, it certainly is important. Sometimes the discoloration of your soap bar just doesn’t match the aroma and there may seem like there is nothing you can do to stop it. Or, you may just be trying to get your soap to be pure white, as no discoloration doesn’t mean that you will get a pure white bar of soap. In fact, uncolored and unscented cold process soap is naturally an off white hue. But, there are a few additives that you could use in certain situations to attempt to achieve the perfect white color for your soap bars. All you need to do is learn how to make soap white and we at Natures Garden would like to help you at as much as we possibly can!

How to Make Soap White Soap Making Options

We have three simple options for our lovely soap-makers that desire a whiter bar of soap. While there is no way to prevent discoloration in all cases, there are some options that you have for your soapmaking. First, we have the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer. This is a product that will actually prevent discoloration from fragrance. However, this ingredient is really only good for preventing fragrances with a vanillin content from discoloring. So, this additive will not always work to completely banish discoloration and may not work at all on some fragrances. Next, we have two types of titanium dioxide. While these ingredients are designed to change the appearance of the natural color of soaps. However, these additives will not prevent any fragrance discoloration. This ingredient is simply for turning the off white bars into a pure white hue.

One easy method that you can use to whiten your cold process soaps is to add in our Vanilla White Color Stabilizer! While this ingredient can’t completely whiten all kinds of discoloration, this product can strongly reduce certain types of discoloration. So, it is important to know exactly when to add this product. This ingredient will reduce the discoloration that is caused by vanillin. Also, this product will slow down this ingredient’s ability to oxidize, which would cause browning in the soap. If the fragrance oil contains vanillin or components that will oxidize, then adding this ingredient will absolutely be helpful!

How to Make Soap White Why Use Vanilla White Color Stabilizer

As a soap maker, it is important to know how to deal with discoloration. While many great aromas that don’t cause any discoloration, there are some fragrance oils with wonderful scents that just don’t perform exactly how you want. It can be heartbreaking to discover a gorgeous scent that just discolors too much. What is worse is when the discoloration doesn’t pair well with the aroma. This always happens with scents that have heavy vanilla notes. These fragrance oils often end up extremely dark, but smelling like a pure white vanilla dream! However, you can prevent it with Vanilla White Color Stabilizer. So, don’t give up on your favorite vanilla soap scents just yet.

How to Make Soap White Vanilla Fragrance OilsHow to Make Soap White Vanilla Fragrance Oils

While there are definitely some types of discoloration that Vanilla White Color Stabilizer can’t help with, this product is perfect for reducing discoloration from vanillin. This ingredient is what creates the vanilla aroma that we all know and love! This means that this color stabilizing agent is perfect for vanilla fragrances, and any fragrance that has a vanillin content. So, darker shades of soaps that are caused by vanilla fragrance oils can be tackled by this product. Although it is possible for a fragrance oil to have other discoloring agents, the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer is great for whitening discoloration due to vanillin. So, you should add this ingredient when the vanillin content is above 1% to prevent discoloration.

How to Make Soap White Oxidation Impact on ColorHow to Make Soap White Oxidation Impact on Color

Over time, certain ingredients in the fragrance oil may begin to oxidize. While this is just a natural reaction some ingredients, like vanillin, have with the air, this could lead to a change in the color of your homemade soaps. Oxidation has the potential to cause a darker color for your soap, so you could potentially have discoloration after the soap has been created. Although Vanilla White Color Stabilizer can’t completely prevent this reaction from occurring, it is perfect if you would like to slow down this natural process. Thus, you can delay this discoloration and, if you use your bars quick enough, may never even have to see it!

How to Make Soap White Impact on ScentHow to Make Soap White Impact on Scent

Since you are attempting to save this fragrance oil for your soap making, you don’t want anything impacting the scent. Luckily, vanilla white color stabilizer can reduce discoloration without negatively impacting the fragrance oil that you enjoy. Although the aroma of this product is strong out of the bottle, the scent is completely unnoticeable in the finished soaps. So, you won’t smell a thing in your soaps! This means you can have the appearance in your soap that you want without sacrificing the integrity of this fragrance oil’s scent.

How to Make Soap White Using the Whitener How to Make Soap White Using the Whitener

Now, you know exactly how Vanilla White Color Stabilizer will work in your soap! All you have left to do is to learn how you can incorporate the color stabilizer into your soap making. While it is not super difficult, you need to know what you are doing to make sure that the ingredient is actually incorporated. So, make sure to add this ingredient to aqueous bases as it is designed to stabilize water based formulas. This is because the vanilla white stabilizer can’t be added to the oils until the saponification process.

How to Make Soap White How We Use Vanilla White Color StabilizerHow to Make Soap White How We Use Vanilla White Color Stabilizer

If you’d like to see exactly how this whitener product works, then check out our amazing Peppermint Fluff Soap Recipe! This is a quality soap recipe that required the base of the soap bar to be pure white hue. Otherwise, the design on our soap wouldn’t look like a peppermint! So, the soap had to be red and pure white. However, this soap uses a fragrance with a vanillin content. In fact, the Peppermint Fluff Fragrance Oil includes a 6% vanillin content. So, we needed something to help with the inevitable discoloration. Otherwise, we would have ended up with a brown and red bar of soap that really wouldn’t look like a peppermint at all. Instead, we used this ingredient and created the soap you see to the left!

How to Make Soap White Titanium Dioxide Water SolubleHow to Make Soap White Titanium Dioxide Water Soluble

Also, you have another perfect option for making homemade white soaps. You can use Titanium Dioxide to create a whiter bar of cp soap. While this ingredient won’t reduce discoloration that is caused by some fragrance oils, it is perfect for whitening. If you have a bar with light or no discoloration, then you can add this powdered colorant to create a whiter bar. Instead of the typical off white soap color, the Titanium Dioxide will create a more pure white color in your bars. Thus, you can have decorative soaps with a pure white hue. Also, you will be able to still use your personal cold process soaping recipe.

How to Make Soap White Amount to AddHow to Make Soap White Amount to Add

First, it is very important for you to know how much titanium dioxide that you can add to your homemade soaps. While this whitening powder is perfect for soap making, you don’t want to add too much of this product to your soap. However, not adding enough of this product could leave you with a bar that isn’t as white as you would like your soaps to be. So, we would suggest for you to include no more than a single teaspoon per pound of soap colored. All you need to do is add the right amount of this whitening product to your soaps!

How to Make Soap White Using the Water Soluble Titanium DioxideHow to Make Soap White Using the Water Soluble Titanium Dioxide

Next, you need to learn how this ingredient needs to be used. Since this ingredient is water based, it needs to be added to the lye water solution. This means that you will have to add this white pigment to your whole soap bar. So, the water soluble version of Titanium Dioxide is perfect for coloring an entire bar of cold process soap. Then, you can combine your water and oils perfectly to create a whiter bar of soap. Although you can separate some of this white soap to color with soap dyes, the titanium dioxide won’t impact the color.

How to Make Soap White Titanium Dioxide Oil DispersibleHow to Make Soap White Titanium Dioxide Oil Dispersible

Alternatively, you can use a different type of Titanium Dioxide to create your soaps. This ingredient is perfect for whitening smaller portions of your cold process soap. This version of Titanium Dioxide will perform similarly to the water soluble version. Thus, both act as a whitening pigment for the uncolored portions of the soap. Again, this ingredient won’t fix any discoloration caused by fragrance oils. This is because this additive is designed to alter the color of natural soaps to a more pure white. The only difference between the Oil Dispersible Titanium Dioxide and the Water Soluble Titanium Dioxide is how it is incorporated into the soap.

How to Make Soap White Using the Oil Dispersible Titanium DioxideHow to Make Soap White Using the Oil Dispersible Titanium Dioxide

Now, all you need is to learn how to use this product in your soap making process! Since this ingredient is oil based, you need to add titanium dioxide to the oil portion of your soaps. So, you’ll need to take a bit of your cosmetic oils and mix your powdered pigment together. Then, you will need to mix up your soap batch. Afterwards, separate out the portion of soap that you’d like to be whitened. Then, mix together the separated portion and the titanium dioxide to create the perfect white color for your soap design.

How to Make Soap White How We Use Titanium Dioxide Oil DispersibleHow to Make Soap White How We Use Titanium Dioxide Oil Dispersible

Finally, take a peek at how we like to use titanium dioxide in our very own soap making recipes. The Sweet Orange Chili Pepper Cold Process Soap Recipe is one example where adding this ingredient is perfect for creating perfect designs. This soap recipe incorporates a perfect in-the-pot swirl with vibrant red, pure white, and gorgeous orange colors. Note that the white portion of this swirl is even whiter than the normal hue of cold process soap. Luckily, this fragrance oil causes no discoloration in homemade soap! This means that adding titanium dioxide is a perfect option for creating a pure white section in your soap.

Benefits of Coconut Oil

Benefits of Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a commonly used oil in many homemade bath and body products, so read on to find many of the benefits of coconut oil. While many know that this oil was good for you, do you know how coconut oil benefits your bath and body recipes?

Coconut oil has tons of benefits for your skin, hair, and just about everything else! This oil contains properties that are are perfect for moisturizing and caring for your body. It does this with properties such as its three fatty acids, capric acid, lauric acid and caprylic acid, which are wonderful for our bodies. Plus, coconut oil is said to have properties that reduce fungus, bacteria, and inflammation. So, this oil is perfect for effective, clean skin care. This is also why we created this blog to discuss this cosmetic ingredient of choice and there are quite a few. Let’s get right into it!

Benefits of Coconut Oil Difference Between Coconut Oils 76 and Fractionated

Before we go into the benefits to your body and your products, we should explain the difference between the two types of coconut oil that we carry. One main difference between the two is the melting point. Fractionated Coconut Oil is able to stay liquid at lower temperatures than the Coconut Oil 76 can. This happens because Fractionated Coconut Oil only contains the medium-chain triglycerides of coconut oil, which are Lauric and Myristic. However, the Coconut Oil 76 contains the fatty acids Myristic, Palmitic, Stearic, Oleic, Linoleic, and Lauric.

This difference in fatty acids can cause more differences between the two. Fractionated Coconut Oil is white in color, absorbs more quickly and is lighter on the skin. Plus, it mixes better with other oils than coconut oil 76. On the other hand, Coconut Oil 76 is a typically light yellow, sits on the skin a bit longer, and makes for a thicker moisturizer. While both are beneficial, it is a good idea to choose the one that will suit your needs best.

Benefits of Coconut Oil for Your Products

Coconut oil can be added to a variety of different bath and body creations. Not only will it add helpful benefits for your skin, but this oils can provide wonderful qualities for you products, too. So, we are going to share how coconut oil interacts with a few different types of recipes.

Benefits of Coconut Oil Benefits for Soap

One product that will definitely benefit from the addition of coconut oil is cold process soap! During the soap process the lye acts as the chemical emulsifier that bonds fatty acids with water molecules by generating heat. So, the different types of oils will bond with the water and create different types of soap bars. The fatty acids in the oil provide some nice qualities for your soap bar, which you can see on our Soaping Oil Properties page. Each oil is different, but these qualities may include bar hardness, cleansing, bubbly lather, conditioning, and creamy lather. However, coconut oil provides hardness, cleansing, and bubbly lather.  We should mention though, it is possible to use too much oil in soap. We recommend not using any more than 30% in your soaping recipe.

Benefits of Coconut Oil Benefits for Lotion

Further, adding different types of oils to lotion recipes can create different types of products. One amazing benefit of adding coconut oil to lotion is that it is an oil that will sink in fairly quickly. So, you won’t be left with oily skin, which makes this type of lotion more beneficial for those with already over oily skin.

You could create a lotion that uses coconut oil along with other beneficial oils to create a product that smells lovely and really helps your skin. You could create a recipe like the Coffee Butter Scrub Recipe or the Blackberry Fizz Emulsified Sugar Scrub Recipe. These both include coconut oil to create a product that is perfect for skin!

Benefits of Coconut Oil Natural Wrinkle Reduction

Next, you can use coconut oil to reduce wrinkles. This oil is known for its anti aging properties. Since this cosmetic ingredient is so great for our skin, it can’t be hard to imagine that it could help reduce wrinkles. While wrinkles are common to occur as you age, there is a reason for why this happens. The wrinkles that are related to age are caused by two main things. First, the fat cells in your skin begin to shrink and your inner layer of skin starts to get thinner. Second, your skin’s ability to repair itself decreases as you get older. This combination leads to the formation of dreaded wrinkles. This is where coconut oil comes in! This oil is known to replenish these fat cells, which would reduce the visibility of your wrinkles.

Benefits of Coconut Oil Help With Ingrown Hair

Plus, coconut oil can be great for helping with irritated skin and ingrown hairs. Since this oil has shown you can use it to moisturize and reduce inflammation, this is perfect for soothing areas that are often irritated. So, use this oil in areas that are frequently shaved, prone to bumps, often rubbed, or prone to infection. This is done because coconut oil has been seen to reduce these issues by others. This helps because the oil helps to soften skin so hair can easily grow properly through the follicle. This will help to solve the issue of ingrown hairs with an added bonus of killing bacteria that could potentially infect these area and lead to even more issues. So, using coconut oil before and after shaving can really benefit your skin and help avoid all the annoying bumps.

Benefits of Coconut Oil Reducing Stretch MarksBenefits of Coconut Oil Reducing Stretch Marks

Further, coconut oil has been used to reduce the visibility of stretch marks in some people. Since many have found out exactly how wonderful coconut oil is for them still, it is no wonder that this oil has been found to be perfect for stretch mark reduction. Stretch marks occur due to the skin elasticity not being as good as it should be. This elasticity is the skin’s ability to stretch out and relax back. Similarly to wrinkles, this will reduce overtime due to age. Also, this can occur when a change in the skin is sudden, such as having a baby or gaining a lot of weight quickly. Some have found that the skin healing properties of coconut oil are perfect for getting dark marks, discoloration, and redness to fade away. Plus, the oil will hydrate the skin, which can help the skin heal more quickly.

Furthermore, some found that coconut oil can lessen the appearance of dark under eye circles. This theory is believed because coconut oil has anti-inflammatory properties. Plus, many found this oil to have skin lightening properties, too. So, leaving coconut oil under your eye over night could lead to a lessening of circles under your eyes.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparations

Before we begin you should make sure that your work station is clean and ready for you to work. Further, you should wash and dry all the equipment that you are going to be working with. Doing this will help to ensure that your finished product is clean, as well. Nothing is worse than finishing a project and finding a speck right on the surface. Additionally, you may find it easier to gather all your ingredients before you begin creating your soap. Although you can simply grab everything as you go, it can be helpful to have everything in your work space before starting. This will make are that you aren’t caught off guard and that you will have everything that you need as you need it.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Beginning with the Soap ColorsSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Beginning with the Soap Colors

First of all, you are going to focus on preparing the three color portions that you will need in a future step.Later on, you will add these colored pastes to separated portions of your melted soap base. Preparing the colors first will make it easier to work with the soap and add these colors later on. This way you will have more time to pour your soap batter. Also, it will be less likely for you to have your soap set up before it gets in the mold. So, take your three disposable cups and assign each one to a different color. You will need to make sure you have a cup for the pink, white, and brown portions of your soap.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the Pink Colorant PortionSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the Pink Colorant Portion

Now, we are going to get the pink soap colorant portion ready for you to use in a later step. So, retrieve your scale and set it to measure in grams. Next, add 7 grams of the Rose Clay, 15 grams of the Vegetable Glycerin, and 10 drops of the Neon Pink Soap Colorant to one of your disposable cups. Then, stir this mixture into a paste and make sure that all the ingredients are incorporated. After, set this mixture aside until after you melt the soap base.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the Brown Colorant PortionSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the Brown Colorant Portion

Next, you will be getting the brown colorant ready for that portion of the soap. So, use the scale to fill your next disposable cup with 7 grams of Cocoa Powder and 16 grams of Vegetable Glycerin. You will stir this until it is a paste consistency and has incorporated all the ingredients. Then, you can set aside this colorant mixture for you to use in a later step.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the White Colorant PortionSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the White Colorant Portion

Next, you will prepare the last portion of the colorants. So, grab the cup that is meant to contain the white portion of your soap colorant. Then, you can add 5 grams of Kaolin Clay Powder and 10 grams of Vegetable Glycerin to this remaining disposable cup. You will need to stir this to incorporate all the ingredients and create the proper consistency. Then, you can set the white colorant aside until you need it later on.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Melting the Soap BaseSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Melting the Soap Base

Now, you are ready to prepare the actual soap portion of your recipe. So, you will cut up and weigh out 904 grams of the Natures Garden Cocoa Butter Soap Base. Also, make sure that you put this soap base into a microwave safe, glass bowl. After you cut up the soap, you can use your microwave to melt the cocoa butter soap base. You will want to melt the soap with 30 second bursts and be sure to stir in between the heating times. This will prevent you from accidentally over heating the soap base. You will need to continue the melting and stirring cycle until the soap is entirely liquid.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Adding the Fragrance OilSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Adding the Fragrance Oil

Next, you will be adding a very scrumptious fragrance oil into the melted soap. So, you will need to weigh out 45 grams of the Chocolate Covered Strawberries Fragrance Oils. Then, you should take your newly melted soap base. After, you can add the weighed fragrance oil to the soap. Also, add in 45 grams of the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer to the melted soap. This will prevent some of the discoloration that could be caused by the fragrance oil. Since the fragrance has a 6% vanillin content, it would be likely to create a dark brown color in the soap if left on its own. This is why we need to add in the vanilla white stabilizer, as it prevents discoloration and allows us to color the soap as we see fit. After you have added the soap scent and Vanilla White, you can stir these ingredients into the soap to incorporate everything into the mixture.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Separating the Scented Soap BaseSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Separating the Scented Soap Base

Then, you need to separate the melted soap base. You will incorporate one of the three soap colorants you prepared earlier to each of the three containers. So, take each of the three containers of color and set them up nearby. Then, to the first mixing bowl, weigh about 301 grams of the melted soap base. Next, add your pink clay soap colorant. Next, in the second bowl, add 301 grams of the melted soap base.  Again, add your colorant, this time the cocoa powder colorant. Finally, you should have about 301 grams of soap left in the bowl that you used to originally melt the soap. To this bowl, add the kaolin white clay. Make sure that you mix well to incorporate all the ingredients in each bowl. Afterwards, you will be ready to pour your soap colors into the silicone soap loaf mold!

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Filling the Soap Mold

Now, it is time to fill your silicone soap mold with your colored soap portions. So, get your silicone loaf soap mold prepared in your work area. Know that you will have enough soap to fill two of the four loaf cavities in the soap mold. Also, you will need to grab two of your proportioned cups of colored soap, which two colors that you use initially is up to you. Then, use both your hands and pour these two different colors into the soap mold simultaneously. Add a bit with these two colors, then switch to the next color. You will pour these at the same time, as well. You will need to repeat this process of alternating these three colors and pouring two at a single time until you use up each of your three soap portions.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Adding the Finishing Touches on the SoapSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Adding the Finishing Touches on the Soap

Next, you are ready to add the finishing touches to the soap in your silicone soap loaf mold. So, take your spray bottle of rubbing alcohol and spray the top of your soap loaves. This will make sure that any air bubbles that may be in the soaps are released before the soap sets up completely. As a general rule, you should always spray rubbing alcohol after pouring melt and pour soap. Afterwards, you will need to wait for your soap loaves to completely set up before doing anything else for this craft recipe. If you move the soap before the loaves set up completely, then you could possibly mess up the tops of the soap. This could lead to a wrinkled appearance on top or even accidentally spilling the soaps.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Cutting the Finished Soap

After the soap completely sets up, you will be ready to remove your loaves of soap from the mold and slice the soaps into bars! Your soaps should be completely set up at this point, so pop the two soap loaves out of the silicone soap mold. Then, you can get these finished soap loaves ready to cut into individual bars of soap. So, use your mitre box and cutter to cleanly slice your bars into bars of soap that are the perfect size for use. Now, your soaps are finally finished!

20 Ways to Use Olive Oil 20 Ways to Use Olive Oil

Pomace grade olive oil is a rich, thick, and green grade of olive oil that is extracted from the fruit and pits of the olives. Olive Oil is one of the most popular oils for soap makers to use.  Olive oil creates white bars of soap that are very moisturizing, hard in comparison to other bars, and are exceptionally mild.  However, olive oils also works quite well in other cosmetic recipes. This oil will soften, smooth, and nourish your dry or damaged skin. So, adding this oil to your homemade body lotions, bubble bars, or scrubs would add in this extra moisturizing power. Further, this oil is less likely to clog your pores and is able to sink deep down into the skin. So, your product will not just sit on the top layer of the skin with a greasy film. Instead, this oil will nourish the skin all the way down and promote healthy growth. Below, we will show you 20 ways to use olive oil in your handcrafted bath and body products.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Preparations Prior to StartingBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Preparations Prior to Starting

Prior to preparing for your Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe, really focus on making sure your work space is prepared and ready to begin. Make sure all your equipment is clean and sanitized. Get all of the ingredients and supplies out and in your work station prior to starting as well. We also recommend putting on protective clothing, such as a soap making apron and gloves along with a hair net when making your homemade soap recipe. Finally, fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and place a sprayer on top. Rubbing alcohol not only helps with adhesion between the layers of soap but also to release any air bubbles in the soap before it sets up.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 1: Creating the EmbedsBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 1: Creating the Embeds

First, you are going to create the cute little blackberry embeds that go on top of the Blackberry Cupcake Soap’s frosting. First, you will need a microwave safe small bowl. Now, you will use your scale to weigh out 75 grams of SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap. Cut your clear melt and pour soap into small sections before you begin to melt the base.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 2: Melt in MicrowaveBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 2: Melting Your Clear Soap

Once you have weighed out your SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap, you are going to melt it in your microwave. You are going to want to melt the clear mp soap base in 30-second intervals until it is completely fluid. Also, you will want to make sure you stir the SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap while you are melting it. You need to continue to heat the base until it is in a liquid state, be careful not to overheat the soap base.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 3: Add Fragrance Oil and Soap ColorantBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 3: Coloring and Scenting the Blackberry Embeds

Next, remove the SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap from the microwave and add your soap colorants and fragrance oil. You will need to add 2 grams of Natures Garden Blackberry Jam Fragrance Oil along with 1 drop of black oxide FUN Soap Colorant. Also, add 4 drops of the Ultramarine Violet FUN Soap Colorant. Lastly, you are going to want to incorporate the ingredients fully into your melted SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap. Mix slowly until everything you added is blended thoroughly and evenly.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 4: Pouring the Blackberry Embeds

Finally, pour the SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap into 10 cavities of the raspberries and blackberries mold. We recommend getting this mold from www.flexiblemolds.com. Once you pour the soap, be sure to spray the soap with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles in your melted soap base that may have been created while mixing and pouring your melt and pour soap into the mold.  Allow the soap to completely setup before removing the blackberries from the mold.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 5: Preparing BaseBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 5: Preparing the Cupcake Bases

Now, you are going to start preparing your cupcake bases. Again, you are going to need the SLS Free Clear Soap Base. At this time you will also need the cupcake mold market mold. Next, in a small microwave-safe bowl, weigh out and melt 200 grams of your SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap Base. Remember to heat up your SLS Fee Melt and Pour Soap in the microwave in 30 second intervals so you do not overheat the clear soap. In addition, you will want to stir your soap base in between each 30 second burst to help it melt evenly.

BlackBerry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 6: Add Fragrance Oil and Soap Colorant Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 6: Adding Fragrance Oil and Soap Colorant

Once you melted your 200 grams of SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap base, you are going to add 6 grams of your Blackberry Jam Fragrance Oil and make sure it is mixed completely into your melted soap base. Next, add 15 drops of Natures Garden Ultramarine Violet FUN Soap Colorant to your melted soap base and 2 drops of your Black Oxide FUN Soap Colorant to your melted soap base. Lastly, mix both FUN Soap Colorants completely to incorporate the colors into your melted detergent-free soap base.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 7: Pour in MoldBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 7: Pouring Your Cupcake Bases

Now, you are ready to pour your SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap into your the cupcake base cavities of the cupcake mold. You will notice that this mold has four cavities, two cupcake bases and two cupcake tops. You will only need to pour the cupcake bases of the mold, not the cupcake top cavities. So, slowly pour the purple soap to fill the two cavities. Next, you are going to want to spray the purple soap with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles that may have formed. Air bubbles can get trapped in the soap as it is setting up, so make sure you spray the homemade soap as soon as you pour it. Finally, you will want to let the soap setup completely before moving on to the next step.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 9: Adding liquids to Goat Milk Melt and PourBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 8: Preparing the Whipped Soap Base for the Cupcakes

Next, you are going to prepare the whipped topping portion for your Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe. First, you are going to want to prepare the whipped soap base. For this you will need a medium size mixing bowl ready. Then, weigh out 215 grams of whipped soap base. Now, to the bowl containing the whipped soap base, add 21 grams of vegetable glycerin. Also, you are going to want to add 14 grams of Blackberry Jam Fragrance. Finally, use your hand mixer to whip the soap to a fluffy frosting like consistency. Then, set the bowl aside, you will come back to it shortly.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 9: Preparing the Goat Milk Melt and Pour

Now, in a separate bowl, we will be weighing out your Goat’s Milk MP Soap.  This soap is going to be mixed with the whipped soap base.  By adding mp soap to the whipped soap base it hardens the whipped soap a bit.  While it will still look like frosting it won’t be super soft. This means it can be easily packaged while still maintaining its cupcake appearance.  So, in a deep bowl, weigh out 215 grams of goat milk melt and pour soap. Once again, you are going to want to melt the goat milk melt and pour soap in the microwave in 30 second intervals. Once the soap base is completely melted, we can move on and put everything together.  You will need to move quickly through the next few steps as the base can setup rather fast.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 10: Add Melted and Whipped Soap BaseBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 10: Putting Everything Together

Next, we will complete the whipped soap frosting. This means it is time to put everything together. You will need to move quickly as the soap frosting does tend to setup quickly. You are going to add your melted goat milk melt and pour soap to your whipped soap base. Again, while using your hand mixer, combine the melt and pour and whipped soap base ingredients until you have a fluffy whipped frosting consistency. Be careful not to over mix.  Over mixing can cause your frosting to setup before you are able to frost the soap cupcakes.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 11: Scoop and PlaceBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 11: Topping Your Cupcakes

Now, quickly scoop some of the soap frosting onto each cupcake base you created earlier. Next, you will need the blackberry embeds you prepared earlier. You are finally ready to use those cute blackberry embeds you made! Place the blackberries on the top of each homemade soap cupcake. Push it slightly into the soap frosting so it stays in place. You should have about 10 blackberries to top both cupcakes. This blackberry soap recipe makes two cupcakes. So, this allows you to add up to 5 blackberries per soap cupcake.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 12: Finishing TouchesBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 12: Finishing Touches

Finally, you are going to prepare the light purple drizzle that you are going to put on top of your homemade blackberry cupcake soap! First, you will want to lay down a piece of wax paper. The wax paper will help keep your area clean and protected while drizzling. Then, remove your cupcakes from the molds and place them on the wax paper. Next, go ahead and melt about 50 grams of goat’s milk melt and pour soap in the microwave. Once that is melted, you can add 1 gram of Natures Garden Blackberry Jam Fragrance Oil. Also, you are going to add 10 drops of FUN soap colorant- Ultramarine Violet. Be sure to mix the two well so you have a consistent color. Once you have created the purple drizzle, use a spoon to drizzle the melted light purple soap over the top of each cupcake. Once you have allowed the drizzle to setup, your soap cupcakes are ready to use!

590 grams Hemp Oil Melt and Pour Soap
29 grams Bamboo Hemp Fragrance Oil
16 Whole Star Anise

Bamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Necessary Preparations Prior to Starting

First of all, you are going to want to clean all of your equipment and your work station. This will make sure that your finished product is clean and free of contaminants. This process isn’t difficult and will absolutely benefit your homemade products. So, sanitize the counter top or the table that you are going to work on. In addition, clean and sanitize all of the equipment you will be using.

Also, you may want to get all of your supplies together and within reach of your work space. This way you will have all the equipment ready to use for creating the melt and pour soap. You will also want to fill your spray bottle with rubbing alcohol so that you can spray the freshly poured melt and pour soap quickly. This will release any air bubble that pop up when pouring your mp soap base.  In addition, rubbing alcohol will help the layers adhere to each other.

Bamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Getting the Whole Star Anise ReadyBamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Getting the Whole Star Anise Ready

First, you are going to get your whole star anise herb ready for later use in the homemade soap recipe. Since you are going to need this cosmetic herb for your clear layer of melt and pour, it will help to have the stars ready. Since it will save you time to get this herb ready, you should pick out your Star Anise before you begin the recipe. So, look through your bag of Whole Star Anise to find some whole pieces of the Star Anise that you would like to use in the soap. Although you can use broken pieces as long as you don’t mind that ascetic in your final bars of soap. Regardless of your preference, you will need to get together 16 individual whole star anise pieces for this melt and pour soap recipe.

Bamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Preparing the Clear Layer of SoapBamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Preparing the Clear Layer of Soap

Next, you are going to get the clear melt and pour soap ready to use for your first layer. So, grab your scale and weigh out 200 grams of your Natures Garden Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap into a microwave safe bowl. After, you will need to use your microwave to melt your clear soap base. Melting your soap base should be done in short bursts. You want to use thirty second busts in the microwave until all of the soap is completely melted. This method of melting your soap will prevent you from accidentally over heating your mp soap base.

Bamboo Hemp Soap Recipe After the Soap has Melted

Now, that your melt and pour soap has finished melting you are going to be ready to pour the soap into your mold. You don’t need to add any color to this layer because you will need to see the Star Anise Whole through the melt and pour soap. Further, we don’t need to add fragrance oil to this layer. But, don’t worry about your soap because the bottom layer will be scented. We just can’t scent this clear layer or the fragrance would add a yellow tint to the layer. This is because the soap doesn’t have a color and the Bamboo Hemp Fragrance Oil has a slight yellow tint. So, this layer of your soap should remain unscented and uncolored.

Bamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Pouring Your First Soap LayerBamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Pouring Your First Soap Layer

After your clear, unscented melt and pour soap has entirely melted, you are ready to pour your melted soap. Be sure to move quickly as you pour your soap as you are going to need to place in the herbs before your soap sets up. So, retrieve the soap mold and the star anise that you have chosen for the top layer of your melt and pour soap. Now, pour your melt and pour soap into your soap mold.

Next, take your whole star anise and place each individual star anise into the center of each cavity in the soap mold. After all of the star anise has been placed, spray the top of your soap layer with the rubbing alcohol. This will release bubbles in the melted soap and help your layers to stick together better. Now, make sure that your layer is completely set up before moving on to the next step.

Bamboo Hemp Soap Recipe After the Clear Soap Layer is Completely Set UpBamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Pouring the Second Clear Soap Layer

Now, you will see that your first clear layer has not completely covered the entire whole star anise. This amount of melt and pour soap was intentional, as it will help with the placement of the star anise. Next, we will be pouring the second half of the clear layer to completely cover the star anise whole. The thought process behind this method of embedding the herb was that this will help to hold the herb in place. So, this means that your stars will be less likely to be crooked or start to float. So, your star anise will be better at staying where you put it, in the center and top of your bars of soap.

Bamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Pouring the Second Clear LayerBamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Pouring the Second Clear Layer

Next, you are going to pour the second half of the clear melt and pour soap layer. So, melt another portion of 200 grams of clear melt and pour soap. You are going to want to melt this batch the same way that you did before to prevent burning the soap. So, use your microwave in 30 second increments. Before you pour this portion of clear melt and pour soap make sure to spray the previous layer with rubbing alcohol. After, pour the second clear layer onto your previously set up soap layer. Then, spray the top of the melt and pour soap layer with the rubbing alcohol.  Allow the final clear layer to completely setup before moving to the next step.

Bamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Preparing the Second Layer of Your SoapBamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Preparing the White Layer of Your Soap

Next, you are going to be preparing the white layer of your melt and pour soap bars. So, grab your scale and weigh out 590 grams of the Natures Garden’s Hemp Oil Melt and Pour Soap Base. Next, you will need to melt your soap base with a microwave. Again, we recommend that you use 30 second increments until the soap is entirely liquid. After your soap is entirely melted you are ready to add the fragrance oil. So, weigh out 29 grams of Natures Garden’s Bamboo Hemp Fragrance Oil. Then, you are going to add this refreshing fragrance oil to your melted soap base. Stir in the fragrance evenly to make sure that all of the scent has been incorporated. After, you are ready to move on to the next step.

Bamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Pouring the White Layer of Your SoapBamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Pouring the White Layer of Your Soap

Now, you are ready to pour your white layer of Hemp Oil Melt and Pour Soap Base into your soap mold. This white melt and pour soap will be the bottom layer for your finished soap bars. After this final layer is poured, you will want to spray the top with some of the rubbing alcohol. This will help to remove the air bubbles that may be trapped under the surface of this soap layer. Once you spray the soap, wait for this layer to entirely set up. After this white soap layer is entirely hardened, you will be ready for the next step in this process.

Bamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Slice Your Finished SoapBamboo Hemp Soap Recipe Slice Your Finished Soap

Next, you are going to want to slice your finished slab of soap into individual bars. First, remove the melt and pour soap from your mold. Place the mold on the table or counter top, flip it over, and gently press to release the bamboo hemp soap from the mold. Then, turn the soap over so you can see the top clear layer. You will notice, the mold that you have used will provide you with a single slab of soap, but there are indented portions that are designed for easy cutting. Before you cut, you are going to want to set your slab of layered soap onto the cutting board. Now, you can cut your soap using a knife, or the soap cutter typically used with a mitre box for soap making. So, use your chosen cutting implement to slice along the lower sections of the melt and pour soap slab. Once you cut along each line you will end up with 16 individual soap bars that each soap embedded with a whole star anise. Now, you have completed your melt and pour soaps and are ready to use your finished soap!

This bar of soap is occasionally referred to as Baby Soap, as this oil provides a very conditioning and sensitive bar of soap. This bar would be very soft since this soaping oil is full of fatty acids that are great for your skin. Another type of soap that you can create with this oil is called Marseille Soap, which includes 72% or more of Olive Oil in the overall recipe. While these two methods for creating soap recipes that are great for moisturizing, these bars may be considered to be a bit more slippery than a typical bar. So, many soap makers will create soap recipes that use other oils along with olive oil. This way you can have a bar that is conditioning with other qualities that are important to you for soap!

But, these oils could be getting stripped due to your shampoo. So, you may need something to rejuvenate your scalp and balance your healthy oils. One way you can moisturize this skin and eliminate your dandruff is to try out some olive oil in your hair care regimen. Chocolate Facial Mask Recipe Preparing to Create Your Face Mask

Since you are creating a product for your face, it is very important that you make some preparations to ensure there are no contaminates. Otherwise, you could end up with dirt or debris in your recipe. So, we want to prevent this as best we can. First, clean and sanitize your bowl and mixing spoon. This is most important as these utensils will have direct contact to your facial. Next, sanitize your work space. While this won’t touch your facial, anything on the counter could indirectly reach the recipe as you set down the mixing spoon between uses. Thus, cleaning both the equipment and your work space will keep your homemade facial safe enough for your to use without worry!

As the mask sits on your face it will begin to harden and tighten a bit. After the facial has entirely hardened you will find no more wet spots on your facial, so it is ready to come off. Chocolate Facial Mask Recipe Why We Wait to Mix in the Vegetable Glycerin

Now, you may be thinking to yourself, “Why would I wait to add the Vegetable Glycerin?”. I mean it seems like it would be so much easier to just mix everything now, as you already have all your crafting equipment out and ready. Then, you’d have it all ready to go when you need it. However, there are a few factors that make the nature of mixing the facial ingredients more complicated.

After you mix your ingredients, the shelf life will be short. Without a preservative, you will only have a shelf life of one week. Further, this is only the shelf life of a week if it is kept in the refrigerator. So, unless you intend on making a ton of facials immediately, this is not going to end well. If you make all of your facials now, then you will have to use all thirty two individual facials within a single week! Otherwise, the facial will begin to host bacteria and other undesirable organisms that you will not want anywhere near your face.

If you didn’t want to use it all right away, then you could add a preservative to your recipe. Now, adding a preservative is fine and will make the mixed facials last longer, but this is not your only option. There is an easier and more realistic method that will keep this facial all natural where you won’t lose most of the product. There is no need to heat your ingredients and wait for the proper temperature to add the Optiphen. Just wait to mix in the vegetable glycerin and the water until it is time to use the facial. We promise it is an easy way to make your recipe last so much longer!

Plus, all natural cosmetic businesses can sell the mixed powder and vegetable glycerin in a small kit with instructions. Each kit would contain one jar and one bottle, which would produce eight individual facial masks. In addition, this is a project you can put together in minutes! Plus, all you need to do is explain the proportion of mixing the powder, water, and vegetable glycerin! Not only will this be easier to produce, but your facial will be entirely all natural! So, your customers will feel safe using this preservative free recipe on their face. Everybody wins!
