Scale
Small knife
Pot (for double boiler)
Apothecary Jar with lid
Cutting board
Sharp pencil
Toothpick
Wax Paper
Step 1: Lay out 2 pieces of
wax paper on a flat surface.
Step 2: Now, weigh out and melt 25 grams of beeswax using the
double boiler method. Once the beeswax
is melted, add 2 grams of fragrance oil and stir.
Step
3: Next, add 1 drop Yellow spectrum dye and stir
again. Once the color is evenly incorporated, pour
this over the wax paper. Allow the
beeswax to fully harden.
Step
4: Repeat step 2.
Once melted, add 2 drops of Red Spectrum Dye and stir. Once all of the
beeswax is colored, pour the beeswax onto the second piece of wax paper. Allow this to fully set up.
Step
5: Once both beeswax colors are set up, gently peel the beeswax from the wax
paper.
Step
6: Now, get your cutting board, pencil, and knife.
Step
7: Using your pencil,
lightly trace out a small curved flower that resembles a daisy in the yellow
beeswax. You will want this flower to be
a little bit bigger
than the size of a
quarter. Now, with the red beeswax,
trace the outside outline of a pointed flower with 5 to 6 petals. When you are ready, cut each item out.
Step
8: Once your design is finished, place them into the
jar. Then, gently press the flowers
along the wall until it sticks.
Step
9: Now, weigh out and melt 430 grams of Joy wax using the
double boiler method.
Step
10: While your joy wax is
melting, center and secure your wicks to the bottom of your candle jar.
Step
11: Once your joy wax is melted, remove it from the heat
source. Now to the melted wax add 34
grams of fragrance and 1 toothpick tip of Red Spectrum Dye. This will give your candle a pink color. Stir well to incorporate. Then, place your thermometer into the
wax.
Step
12: When your wax reaches 125 degrees Fahrenheit, give it a
final stir. Then, carefully pour it into
your container; stopping the pour where the jar changes shape.
Step
13: Straighten your wicks again, and allow the candle to
fully set up undisturbed.
Step
14: Once your candle is completely set up, trim your
wicks.
Your Mothers Day Candle is now ready to use. Enjoy!
