Make a Few Preparations for the Soy Lotion Recipe

Before you begin creating your diy lotion, you will want to make a few preparations. First, you will need to gather and wash any equipment you are going to need to make this wholesale lotion recipe. Also, you will want to gather all of your lotion making equipment that will be needed for you to create this bath and body recipe. Next, you are going to want to clean up a space for you to use as a work area. You will want to clear off enough space for you to work comfortably.

Sanitizing The Water for Your Soy Lotion Recipe

If you don’t have distilled water, then you are going to need to prepare your water. You will need to boil your water to destroy any germs that may have been present. So, you will need to fill your pot with water and boil it. Also, be sure to add more than 48 ounces of water as some of the water will evaporate during this process. Having extra water will ensure that you have enough for this lotion recipe. Now, you will need to make sure your water reaches at least 185 degrees Fahrenheit. You can use your thermometer to make sure that your boiling water reaches this temperature. Then, you will need to keep your water at this temperature for at least five minutes. After waiting for this amount of time, your water will be ready to use. So, you can remove the water from the stove and weigh out the water for this lotion recipe.

Weighing and Cooling the Water For the Soy Lotion RecipeWeighing and Cooling the Water for the Soy Lotion Recipe

Now, you are ready to weigh out the water for this bath and body recipe. You will want to add this amount to a medium sized mixing bowl. So, you will need to measure out 48 ounces of the water. Before you can move on to the next step in the process, you will need to make sure that your water has cooled to about 100 degrees Fahrenheit. If you proceed with making your lotion too soon, you could ruin your homemade lotion recipe. Adding water that is still too hot can break down ingredients in the base itself.

Weigh Out the Wholesale Lotion Base For the Soy Lotion RecipeWeigh Out the Wholesale Lotion Base for the Soy Lotion Recipe

Next, you are going to weigh out the wholesale lotion base for the soy lotion recipe. This recipe is going to require the entire container of wholesale lotion base. So, you will need to weigh out 16 ounces of the Natural Soy Body Butter Lotion Base and add it to a mixing bowl.

The Wholesale Lotion Base For the Soy Lotion RecipeThe Wholesale Lotion Base for the Soy Lotion Recipe

This bath and body recipe includes a fantastic wholesale lotion base! Our Natural Soy Body Butter uses a variety of conditioning oils and other cosmetic ingredients that are perfect for skincare. This lotion base will yield stable emulsions with a light texture. Further, this lotion base shows a very good emolliency without any greasy after-feel as the conditioning properties sink down into the skin. As this base is fully saturated, it is not prone to rancidity. So, you can enjoy the convenience of using a lotion base as well as the beneficial skincare properties of a lotion that is made from scratch!

Adding the Cosmetic Colorant and Mica to the Soy Lotion RecipeAdding the Cosmetic Colorant to the Soy Lotion Recipe

Once you have added the lotion base in your mixing bowl, you are going to be adding the cosmetic colorants to your lotion recipe. So, you will need to add 4 drops of the Blue Da Bomb Soap Dye and 9 drops of the Red Da Bomb Soap Dye to your scented lotion recipe. Once these are added, you are ready for the next step in the process.

Adding Additional Cosmetic Ingredients to the Soy Lotion Recipe

Now, we are going to be adding some more ingredients to the soy body butter base. Since we are adding additional carrier oils to the lotion base, we are going to need to make sure we don’t add over 3% total oil based on the finished product weight. This maximum of added oils will make sure that your finished lotion is fully emulsified and that there are no excess oils that haven’t mixed in. So, you will be able to create a non greasy homemade lotion. For this homemade lotion recipe we are going to use just under 2% of the NG CanCan Type fragrance oil and 1% of the argan oil. You can find the exact amounts of each that were included in the steps below.

Scenting Your Soy Lotion RecipeScenting Your Soy Lotion Recipe

Now, you are going to be using a rate of 2% to scent your lotion recipe. So, you will need to weigh out 1.25 ounces of the NG CanCan Type Fragrance Oil. This scented oil has an aroma of fresh mandarin that is balanced with hints of apple peel to open up this feminine fragrance. At the heart of this scent, jasmine, violet and lily form a floral accord that balances notes of woodland fern and hints of berry. Further, the scent ends on a blended base of sensual cashmere musk, golden amber and vanilla bean creates a romantic sweetness that surrounds the floral notes. This fragrance is perfect for making long-lasting scented lotion that is absolutely irresistible!

Adding the Argan Oil to the Soy Lotion RecipeAdding the Argan Oil to the Soy Lotion Recipe

Next, you are going to be using the 1% rate to add the argan oil to your mixture. This will provide some additional conditioning properties to your finished product. So, you are going to add 0.5 ounces of the Argan Oil to your lotion mixture. After adding this cosmetic oil, you can use your stick blender to mix everything together. This wholesale cosmetic oil is easily absorbed into the skin and is fantastic for making quality skincare recipes. Further, this lotion making ingredient allows the skin to breathe and is in many anti-acne formulations. So, this is a great cosmetic oil for your skincare products!

Combine All of the Soy Lotion Recipe IngredientsCombine All of the Soy Lotion Recipe Ingredients

Now, you are going to need to thoroughly mix all of these ingredients together. You are going to need to use a stick blender to combine all of these ingredients thoroughly. As your mixture continues to cool, it will thicken up on its own. Once you have fully mixed in all of these wholesale cosmetic ingredients, you are ready to add the last ingredient.

Adding the Mica Powder to the Soy Lotion RecipeAdding the Mica Powder to the Soy Lotion Recipe

Lastly, you are going to add in some shimmery powdered mica. So, you are going to want to include 4 teaspoons of the Diamond Dust Mica Pigment in your lotion mixture. Now that everything has been mixed together well, you will need to let your lotion cool down to room temperature. So, you can leave your lotion recipe in the mixing bowl for the moment.

Fill the Bottles For Your Soy Lotion Recipe Fill the Bottles For Your Soy Lotion Recipe

Once your homemade hand lotion has cooled to about room temperature, you are ready to fill your lotion bottles. So, you are going to need to set out about six of the 8 ounce clear bottles on your work space. You will be adding your thickened lotion to your wholesale lotion bottles. We suggest that you either use a funnel or a Ziplock bag to add your scented lotion to the containers. If you use a Ziplock bag, you will need to cut a hole in the corner to act as a spout for adding the lotion to the bottle. After you have used all of the lotion to fill your bottles, you can secure the white disc lids to top of each bottle.

Decorate The Bottles For the Soy Lotion Recipe Decorate The Bottles For the Soy Lotion Recipe

Now that all of your lotion bottles are filled, you are ready to move on to decorating your containers! So, you are going to need your hot glue gun, bling ribbon, and rhinestone. You are going to need to cut a piece of the ribbon that is the diameter of the bottle. So, you will be able to wrap this ribbon around the center of the bottle. Then, you will need to use a hot glue gun to secure the ribbon in place. After the ribbon is in place, you are going to adhere the pink acrylic rhinestone to the center of the ribbon where you had previously glued the ends down. Now, you will want to add this decoration to each of your filled lotion bottles.

Using the Finished Soy Lotion Recipe

Finally, you are ready to use your completed lotion recipe. Of course, you can use your homemade lotion right away to nourish and care for your skin. Also, you can store your finished homemade lotion that isn’t greasy for later or even use this scented lotion in your body care business. No matter how you choose to use your easy homemade lotion, you will be sure to love the skincare properties that it will provide for you!

Skincare Benefits of Soy in Your Soy Lotion Recipe

There are so many skincare benefits of soy, which is soya oil. This cosmetic ingredient is a strong anti-oxidant and has skin nourishing properties that can really benefit the health of your skin! 8 Argan Oil Recipes8 Argan Oil Recipes

I don’t know about you but, argan oil is one of my favorite carrier oils to use in my bath and body recipes.  When used in soap, argan oil gives the bars a nice rich lather that I absolutely adore.  When used in lotion, it sinks in quickly while still moisturizing my skin.  It leaves it feeling nice and soft.  Many love argan oil in their hair care recipes as well.  In fact, since it is an ultra light oil it is perfect for those with oily hair and those that have oily skin.

In Europe, argan oil is often called “liquid gold”.  This is because of its wonderful skin- loving properties.  These are properties that come from the abundance of nutrients that are found in argan oil.  The skin loving argan oil is made by pressing argan kernels.  Argan kernels are the pits found inside a fruit grown on Argania spinosa trees in Morocco.  So, let’s look at 8 argan oil recipes from Natures Garden Candle and Soap Making Supplies.  Perhaps you will find a recipe that you can add to your bath and body line.  Whether you make scrubs, body creams, or handcrafted soap, you are sure to find something you love.

8 Argan Oil Recipes: Green Tea Scrub RecipeGreen Tea Scrub Recipe

First, argan oil is wonderful in handmade scrub recipes.  This particular scrub recipe uses green tea.  The green tea is added right into the scrub.  So, not only does the green tea scrub recipe have the antioxidant benefits of green tea it also has the benefits of argan oil.  Finally, it is the aroma of the wonderful Chubba Dubba Weight Loss Fragrance Oil.  Since this citrus fragrance oil also has notes of green tea, we thought it would be the perfect scent to complement this green tea sugar scrub recipe.  This original fragrance oil by Natures Garden is the blend of citrus notes of Sicilian orange, lemongrass, and lemon slices.  Followed by notes of jasmine, green tea, and Tahitian vanilla.

Cappuccino Coffee Cold Process Soap Recipe8 Argan Oil Recipes: Cappuccino Coffee Cold Process Soap Recipe

Now, this one is for all the coffee lovers out there as well as argan oil lovers.  For the coffee addicts like me, this cappuccino coffee cold process soap recipe uses real coffee.  Are you wondering how the coffee is added to this soap recipe?  Well, a portion of the water used to create the lye solution is replaced with coffee.  In addition, there are coffee grounds incorporated into the soap batter to give the soap exfoliation properties.  Finally, it’s topped with a dollop of “whipped cream” and finished off with whole coffee beans.  It is scented with the sweet and creamy Cappuccino Fragrance Oil.  Natures Garden’s Cappuccino Fragrance Oil is the strong and rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee with heavy cream and sweet sugar.  This is hands down my absolute favorite cold process soap recipe.

Orange Swirled CP Soap Recipe8 Argan Oil Recipes: Orange Swirled CP Soap Recipe

Next, the Orange Swirled CP Soap Recipe was inspired with an orange creamsickle fudge recipe from Inside Brew Crew Life.  This is a swirled soap recipe with orange slice embeds to top it off.  In addition, it is scented with the powerful Blood Orange Fragrance Oil.  This tangy orange scent smells AMAZING!  In addition, the scent holds up very well in cold process soap.  The soap itself has a wonderful, rich lathering property.  So, not only does it smell and look fabulous it is also a great bar of soap.  Finally, the cold process soap is topped off with a melt and pour soap embed.  This orange slice is made from mp soap and also coated with sugar to give a portion of the soap exfoliation properties.

Sugar Cookie Whipped Body Butter Recipe8 Argan Oil Recipes: Sugar Cookie Whipped Body Butter Recipe

The Sugar Cookie Whipped Body Butter Recipe is another great recipe that uses argan oil.  This is a body butter recipe that is perfect for dry winter skin.  Not only does it use argan oil, but it also uses moisturizing cocoa butter and shea butter.  We could all use a little extra moisture this time of year.  Not only does it feel amazing on the skin, but it also smells amazing.  This body butter smells of the aroma of Sugar Cookies Fragrance Oil.  This scent smells just like freshly baked cookies right from the oven.  So, create the aroma without the calories and use a body butter instead!

8 Argan Oil Recipes: Argan Soap RecipeArgan Soap Recipe

Who doesn’t love cold process soap?  Creating handmade cp soap can be both an artistic statement and great for your body.  This argan soap recipe will be just that.  It is a beautifully swirled cp soap recipe that uses Kulu Bay Fragrance Oil.  The colors are a perfect representation of both the crisp water and warm sandy shores.  Kulu Bay scent is both invigorating and crisp.  It is also a Natures Garden Original fragrance oil.  It definitely allowed us to create a cool bar of soap that packs that rich lather from the argan oil.  The argan oil cold process soap was created using an in the pot swirl technique.  You will need to move quickly when making this soap recipe.  However, the results are totally worth the extra effort.

Sour Watermelon Sugar Scrub Cubes Recipe8 Argan Oil Recipes: Sour Watermelon Sugar Scrub Cubes Recipe

So, we talked about the green tea sugar scrub, now let’s talk about a solid sugar scrub.  The Sour Watermelon Sugar Scrub Cubes Recipe is a solid sugar scrub that has become very popular with our clients.  Not only will this scrub recipe exfoliate your skin, but it also has melt and pour soap added.  This solid scrub is packaged in a clamshell container.  So, once created, you simply place a label right on the clamshell container.  Each cube is the perfect size for a single use sugar scrub.  This solid scrub uses the fruity Sour Watermelon Candy Fragrance Oil.  It smells just like the sweet watermelon candy.  Now, we know there is the addition of sugar in most scrubs, right?  This solid scrub is not only unique because it is solid it also includes poppy seeds for even more exfoliation.

8 Argan Oil Recipes: Mothers Day Bath Bomb RecipeMothers Day Bath Bomb Recipe

Next, we have the Mother’s Day Bath Bombs Recipe that was made to include argan oil.  These handmade bath fizzies are a wonderful Mother’s Day gift but are really great for any time of year.  These adorable bath bombs with argan oil also use the beautiful Happy Type Fragrance Oil.  Happy & Free fragrance oil is best described as a refreshing, flowery fragrance.  Also, the bath bombs have whole calendula flowers.  Not only are the flowers an adorable decorative touch, but they are also wonderful for the skin.  They help with problems such as burned, rashes, bruised or inflamed skin.  So, this bath bomb recipe is the perfect recipe.  In fact, calendula is also a great help to those with varicose veins. After a few weeks, the veins have been known to shrink due to calendula. It has also been known to help with acne problems and can help prevent dermatitis.

Aloe Body Cream Recipe8 Argan Oil Recipes: Aloe Body Cream Recipe

Finally, we have this aloe body cream recipe that contains argan oil.  Out of all of the body cream recipes I have created, this is my favorite.  I believe this is because of the added argan oil as well as the infusion of aloe powder.  This body cream is the perfect way to help heal your skin.  In addition, this aloe body cream uses Orchid Rain Fragrance Oil.  This spa like aroma is the one of a kind combination of fresh orchids, peony flowers, water lily, watercress, aloe vera, and crisp bamboo.  This aloe lotion recipe sinks into your skin perfectly.  Aloe is also high in antioxidants, vitamin C, and other minerals which allow the skin to heal faster.  As many of you know, aloe is often used on sunburned, or inflamed skin.  This is in part because aloe vera powder contains salicylates.  Salicylates are known to help relieve pain.

Other Ways to Use Argan Oil

Now, a couple of other ways to use argan oil that we haven’t talked about.  First, is in your handcrafted hair care recipes.  Argan oil is perfect for those with oily hair.  Since it is a lighter oil it will sink right into the hair follicle without leaving behind more excess oil.  In addition, since it is able to penetrate deep into the hair it will help to repair any damage. So, you can get the right level of moisture and shine exactly where you need it.  It is also great for your cuticles.  With clean, polish free nails, a drop of argan oil rubbed into your nails and cuticles will help moisturize and refresh your cuticle beds.

Learn a little bit more about argan oil and its benefits in your handcrafted bath and body recipes here.  While Natures Garden Candle and Soap Making Supplies carries argan oil for soap and cosmetics use only, there are many other ways food grade argan oil can be used.  For example, it can also be used when cooking.  In fact, argan oil is considered a staple food pantry item in Morocco.  While it is often heard to be used in cosmetic recipes like hair care products and skin care products in the United States, in Morocco, it is so much more.  Read more about using food grade argan oil in your food recipes at the Food Republic’s website.

My Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion

There are so many wonderful fragrance oils available at Natures Garden that can be used in scented lotion. Some of these scented oils are uniquely original NG aromas and other fragrances were inspired by amazing scents that already exist, but they are all great for making different homemade recipes. My name is Bailey and I love creating my very own homemade lotions! Also, I really enjoy the designer duplicates that Natures Garden has recreated, because it allows me to use some of my favorite scents in any recipes that I want! While you may have different opinions about your favorite lotion scents, I wanted to share some of my favorite fragrance oils for lotion.

While it was originally made for candles, it makes a fantastic lotion scent. The aroma is like a brisk walk through the park on a beautiful fall day with the scent of crisp fallen leaves, fresh pine, and sweet berries fallen from their branches. These scents create everything wonderful about this awe inspiring season. Of course, its one of my favorite scents for my autumn lotions.

My Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: Sun Ripened Raspberry Fragrance Oil My Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: Sun Ripened Raspberry Fragrance Oil

Also, I love the sweet scent of the Sun Ripened Raspberry Fragrance Oil in my lotion recipes. This scent take the aroma of freshly ripened raspberries and blends them with notes of red delicious apples, squeezed orange, ylang ylang, soft rose, greenery, and tagete. These notes are all on a lovely base of vanilla beans that round out this sweet fruit aroma. This sweet scent is light and perfect for daily hand creams that smell uplifting without being overpowering.

Another fun scented oil to use in lotions is the NG Coconut Vanilla Type Fragrance Oil. This sweet tropical aroma is a scent that would be perfect for summer. The scent was created to smell like Yankee’s Vanilla Coconut, which is sweet and delicious. To recreate this aroma we used top notes of coconut, cream and sugar that are followed by middle notes of rose and lily of the valley. Initially, I tried this scent in homemade conditioner, but it has been a gorgeous scent for homemade lotions, too!

Then, the middle notes are of vetiver and sandalwood. Then, the aroma finishes with a woodsy bottom that ties the entire fragrance together. The aroma was inspired by the scent of Bath and Body Works’ gorgeous Sunset by the Pool aroma. This fragrance at NG has notes of sparkling fruits, gorgeous and soft florals, sandalwood, and vanilla. This scent is such a perfect blend for a tropical summer fragrance oil that I just had to include it in my lotion bar supplies for this year!

Another great scented oil for lotion making is the Daisy Type Fragrance Oil. This delightful floral aroma was created to match the scent of Marc Jacob’s Daisy perfume. This aroma was based on the scent of Bath and Body Work’s Black Raspberry Vanilla and NG made such a wonderful dupe. The blend of blackberries, raspberries, white floral, musk and vanilla creates a scent that is simply irresistible. This is one of my go to scents for daily lotion recipes and I just love it all year round.

This fragrance oil is perfect for creating a bright citrus hand cream for on the go. I like to throw a container of sunrise scented cream in my purse. This is perfect for when my hands get a little dry or I could use a scent pick-me-up throughout the day.

My Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: How to Make Perfume Last

While you may think that wearing both lotion and perfume would just be too much, they can actually be used to compliment one another. I had assumed that using both would make the scent too strong, but I was so wrong in thinking that. In fact, combining perfume and lotion will make your scent last even longer than either would last alone! If you are curious on how to do this, then check out an amazing article by Style Caster called How to Layer Lotion and Perfume Without Overdoing It. Here you will learn a few tricks about smelling great and making your scent last longer!
