Make a Few Preparations for the Soy Lotion Recipe

Before you begin creating your diy lotion, you will want to make a few preparations. First, you will need to gather and wash any equipment you are going to need to make this wholesale lotion recipe. Also, you will want to gather all of your lotion making equipment that will be needed for you to create this bath and body recipe. Next, you are going to want to clean up a space for you to use as a work area. You will want to clear off enough space for you to work comfortably.

Sanitizing The Water for Your Soy Lotion Recipe

If you don’t have distilled water, then you are going to need to prepare your water. You will need to boil your water to destroy any germs that may have been present. So, you will need to fill your pot with water and boil it. Also, be sure to add more than 48 ounces of water as some of the water will evaporate during this process. Having extra water will ensure that you have enough for this lotion recipe. Now, you will need to make sure your water reaches at least 185 degrees Fahrenheit. You can use your thermometer to make sure that your boiling water reaches this temperature. Then, you will need to keep your water at this temperature for at least five minutes. After waiting for this amount of time, your water will be ready to use. So, you can remove the water from the stove and weigh out the water for this lotion recipe.

Weighing and Cooling the Water For the Soy Lotion RecipeWeighing and Cooling the Water for the Soy Lotion Recipe

Now, you are ready to weigh out the water for this bath and body recipe. You will want to add this amount to a medium sized mixing bowl. So, you will need to measure out 48 ounces of the water. Before you can move on to the next step in the process, you will need to make sure that your water has cooled to about 100 degrees Fahrenheit. If you proceed with making your lotion too soon, you could ruin your homemade lotion recipe. Adding water that is still too hot can break down ingredients in the base itself.

Weigh Out the Wholesale Lotion Base For the Soy Lotion RecipeWeigh Out the Wholesale Lotion Base for the Soy Lotion Recipe

Next, you are going to weigh out the wholesale lotion base for the soy lotion recipe. This recipe is going to require the entire container of wholesale lotion base. So, you will need to weigh out 16 ounces of the Natural Soy Body Butter Lotion Base and add it to a mixing bowl.

The Wholesale Lotion Base For the Soy Lotion RecipeThe Wholesale Lotion Base for the Soy Lotion Recipe

This bath and body recipe includes a fantastic wholesale lotion base! Our Natural Soy Body Butter uses a variety of conditioning oils and other cosmetic ingredients that are perfect for skincare. This lotion base will yield stable emulsions with a light texture. Further, this lotion base shows a very good emolliency without any greasy after-feel as the conditioning properties sink down into the skin. As this base is fully saturated, it is not prone to rancidity. So, you can enjoy the convenience of using a lotion base as well as the beneficial skincare properties of a lotion that is made from scratch!

Adding the Cosmetic Colorant and Mica to the Soy Lotion RecipeAdding the Cosmetic Colorant to the Soy Lotion Recipe

Once you have added the lotion base in your mixing bowl, you are going to be adding the cosmetic colorants to your lotion recipe. So, you will need to add 4 drops of the Blue Da Bomb Soap Dye and 9 drops of the Red Da Bomb Soap Dye to your scented lotion recipe. Once these are added, you are ready for the next step in the process.

Adding Additional Cosmetic Ingredients to the Soy Lotion Recipe

Now, we are going to be adding some more ingredients to the soy body butter base. Since we are adding additional carrier oils to the lotion base, we are going to need to make sure we don’t add over 3% total oil based on the finished product weight. This maximum of added oils will make sure that your finished lotion is fully emulsified and that there are no excess oils that haven’t mixed in. So, you will be able to create a non greasy homemade lotion. For this homemade lotion recipe we are going to use just under 2% of the NG CanCan Type fragrance oil and 1% of the argan oil. You can find the exact amounts of each that were included in the steps below.

Scenting Your Soy Lotion RecipeScenting Your Soy Lotion Recipe

Now, you are going to be using a rate of 2% to scent your lotion recipe. So, you will need to weigh out 1.25 ounces of the NG CanCan Type Fragrance Oil. This scented oil has an aroma of fresh mandarin that is balanced with hints of apple peel to open up this feminine fragrance. At the heart of this scent, jasmine, violet and lily form a floral accord that balances notes of woodland fern and hints of berry. Further, the scent ends on a blended base of sensual cashmere musk, golden amber and vanilla bean creates a romantic sweetness that surrounds the floral notes. This fragrance is perfect for making long-lasting scented lotion that is absolutely irresistible!

Adding the Argan Oil to the Soy Lotion RecipeAdding the Argan Oil to the Soy Lotion Recipe

Next, you are going to be using the 1% rate to add the argan oil to your mixture. This will provide some additional conditioning properties to your finished product. So, you are going to add 0.5 ounces of the Argan Oil to your lotion mixture. After adding this cosmetic oil, you can use your stick blender to mix everything together. This wholesale cosmetic oil is easily absorbed into the skin and is fantastic for making quality skincare recipes. Further, this lotion making ingredient allows the skin to breathe and is in many anti-acne formulations. So, this is a great cosmetic oil for your skincare products!

Combine All of the Soy Lotion Recipe IngredientsCombine All of the Soy Lotion Recipe Ingredients

Now, you are going to need to thoroughly mix all of these ingredients together. You are going to need to use a stick blender to combine all of these ingredients thoroughly. As your mixture continues to cool, it will thicken up on its own. Once you have fully mixed in all of these wholesale cosmetic ingredients, you are ready to add the last ingredient.

Adding the Mica Powder to the Soy Lotion RecipeAdding the Mica Powder to the Soy Lotion Recipe

Lastly, you are going to add in some shimmery powdered mica. So, you are going to want to include 4 teaspoons of the Diamond Dust Mica Pigment in your lotion mixture. Now that everything has been mixed together well, you will need to let your lotion cool down to room temperature. So, you can leave your lotion recipe in the mixing bowl for the moment.

Fill the Bottles For Your Soy Lotion Recipe Fill the Bottles For Your Soy Lotion Recipe

Once your homemade hand lotion has cooled to about room temperature, you are ready to fill your lotion bottles. So, you are going to need to set out about six of the 8 ounce clear bottles on your work space. You will be adding your thickened lotion to your wholesale lotion bottles. We suggest that you either use a funnel or a Ziplock bag to add your scented lotion to the containers. If you use a Ziplock bag, you will need to cut a hole in the corner to act as a spout for adding the lotion to the bottle. After you have used all of the lotion to fill your bottles, you can secure the white disc lids to top of each bottle.

Decorate The Bottles For the Soy Lotion Recipe Decorate The Bottles For the Soy Lotion Recipe

Now that all of your lotion bottles are filled, you are ready to move on to decorating your containers! So, you are going to need your hot glue gun, bling ribbon, and rhinestone. You are going to need to cut a piece of the ribbon that is the diameter of the bottle. So, you will be able to wrap this ribbon around the center of the bottle. Then, you will need to use a hot glue gun to secure the ribbon in place. After the ribbon is in place, you are going to adhere the pink acrylic rhinestone to the center of the ribbon where you had previously glued the ends down. Now, you will want to add this decoration to each of your filled lotion bottles.

Using the Finished Soy Lotion Recipe

Finally, you are ready to use your completed lotion recipe. Of course, you can use your homemade lotion right away to nourish and care for your skin. Also, you can store your finished homemade lotion that isn’t greasy for later or even use this scented lotion in your body care business. No matter how you choose to use your easy homemade lotion, you will be sure to love the skincare properties that it will provide for you!

Skincare Benefits of Soy in Your Soy Lotion Recipe

There are so many skincare benefits of soy, which is soya oil. This cosmetic ingredient is a strong anti-oxidant and has skin nourishing properties that can really benefit the health of your skin! Dreama Lotion Recipe: Lotion Making Preparations

Before you begin the Dreama scented lotion recipe, you will want to make a few preparations. To begin, you will want to gather your lotion recipe ingredients. It can be useful to collect what you need before making your bath and body product to make the process easier. Also, sanitize your equipment to make sure your work area is clean. Further, it is suggested that you wear gloves, protective clothing, and a hair net while you prepare this recipe. After you have made these preparations, you will be ready to work on making this homemade lotion recipe!

Dreama Lotion Recipe: Prepare Your Water

First, you are going to want to prepare the water for this recipe. Before you begin, you will need to make sure that you have enough water to make your homemade lotion. This means that you will need at 425 grams of water. However, we would recommend that you add some extra water to your pot to ensure that you have enough water remaining after boiling. Some of the water will evaporate as it is boiling. It is better to have too much than not enough. You will need to heat the water to at least 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Once you have your water at this temperature keep the water there for about twenty minutes. Now that your water has been boiled to destroy any bacteria that may have been present, you are ready to create your scented lotion recipe!

Dreama Lotion Recipe: Creating the Double Boiler

Next, you are going to want to create the double boiler for this recipe. While you will still need to stir as the oils and butters are melting, the double boiler will be useful for preventing your cosmetic oils from scorching. To create this device you will need two pots that will fit into each other. In the larger pot, you will add a few inches of water, which will be heated to a boil. Next, place your smaller pot into your pot with water. Now, you will want to heat your water. As long as the water doesn’t boil over into the smaller pot, you are ready to add you cosmetic ingredients to melt.

Dreama Lotion Recipe: Prepare Your Cosmetic OilsDreama Lotion Recipe: Prepare Your Cosmetic Oils

While you are waiting for your water to be ready, go ahead and weigh out your oils.  You will need to measure out 48 grams of the Meadowfoam Seed Oil, 24 grams of the Silky Emulsifying Wax, 10 grams of the Mango Butter, 8 grams of the Sodium Lactate, 10 grams of the Argan Oil, and 6 grams of the Vitamin E Oil. These wholesale ingredients are perfect for creating a quality and non-greasy homemade lotion. Then, add these cosmetic oils to the double boiler that you had prepared in a previous step. You are going to want to heat these ingredients to around 140 degrees Fahrenheit and stir periodically to prevent scorching.

Dreama Lotion Recipe: Combining Your Oil and WaterDreama Lotion Recipe: Combining Your Oil and Water

Now you are going to want to move quickly to over the next couple of steps. Both your oil mixture and your water will need to be around 140 degrees Fahrenheit when you mix everything together. Once your ingredients reach about this temperature, weigh out your water.  Then, combine these bath and body ingredients in a large mixing bowl. You will need to use a stick blender to combine all of these ingredients. As the mixture emulsifies, you will notice that the lotion mixture will begin to white in color.

Dreama Lotion Recipe: Adding the Fragrance OilDreama Lotion Recipe: Adding the Fragrance Oil

At this time, you will need to add 12 grams of the Dreama Fragrance Oil to your mixture. This scented oil has beautiful top notes of oakmoss and lilies. This floral scent continues with middle notes of ylang ylang and jasmine. Finally, this fragrance lays on bottom notes of amber, musk, and sandalwood. Of course, you will need to fully incorporate the fragrance oil. You can use the stick blender to ensure that the entire lotion mixture will include this lovely scent.

Dreama Lotion Recipe: Adding the PreservativeDreama Lotion Recipe: Adding the Preservative

Next, you will want to add the preservative to your homemade lotion recipe. You will need to weigh out 10 grams of the Optiphen Preservative and add it to your lotion mixture. You want to add the preservative when the temperature is between 120-140F.  If the preservative is added at a temperature higher than this, it can burn off.  On the other hand, if it is added a temperature that is too low, it can cause it to separate from the lotion.

The preservative will ensure that your lotion recipe doesn’t become taken over by germs. This preservative protects against bacteria, yeast, and mold. Plus, this ingredient provides an exceptional feel to the finished lotion recipe. Plus, the wholesale preservative available at Natures Garden is paraben-free and formaldehyde-free.

Dreama Lotion Recipe: Adding the ColorantDreama Lotion Recipe: Adding the Colorant

Also, you are going to want to add the wholesale colorant to your lotion. So, you will need to add 5 drops of the Yellow Da Bomb Soap Dye to your diy lotion. Once you have added your lotion colorant, you will want to fully incorporate this color into your lotion. You can use the stick blender to blend in the color evenly throughout your recipe so that the entire lotion includes a lovely yellow hue.

Dreama Lotion Recipe: Adding the Mica PigmentDreama Lotion Recipe: Adding the Mica Pigment

Lastly, you are going to want to add a bit of the mica dust pigment to your lotion. You may want to add 1 teaspoon of the Diamond Dust Mica Pigment. Of course, this is totally optional.  However, mica will add a shimmer and shine to your handmade lotion. Again, once you have added the mica, you are going to want to add it to your lotion and mix with the stick blender.

Dreama Lotion Recipe: Wholesale Packaging SuppliesDreama Lotion Recipe: Wholesale Packaging Supplies

For this cosmetic recipe, you have created a perfect homemade lotion for pump bottle use. So, you will most likely want to use our eight ounce bullet bottles and lotion pumps to package your finished scented lotion recipe. A single batch of this lotion recipe will fill two of our eight ounce bullet bottles. Before you begin to fill the bullet bottles you will need your lotion to cool to room temperature. Then, you are ready to begin filling your eight ounce bullet bottles with the finished lotion. We would recommend that you use a funnel to add your lotion to the bottles. Once your bottle is filled you will need to add the lotion pump lid to finish the recipe.

Dreama Lotion Recipe: Adding the Finishing TouchesDreama Lotion Recipe: Adding the Finishing Touches

Now that you have filled up your bullet bottles, you are ready to add the finishing touches. So, you are going to add a bow to the middle of your bottle. First, you are going to need your green ribbon. Next, you will need to tie a small bow. If you need help learning to tie a bow, then check out How to Tie a Perfect Bow by spruce crafts. Then, you will glue a ring of ribbon around the middle of the bottle and attach your bow to the seam where the two ends meet.

Dreama Lotion Recipe: Using Your Scented Lotion

After your recipe is packaged, your scented lotion recipe is ready to use! In fact, you can use your lotion made from scratch as soon as you have finished creating it. Of course, you can leave your lotion pump lids closed and store your finished lotion. Also, you can add these bottles of lotion to your product line and sell your finished homemade lotion. Cucumber Mint Body Cream Recipe: Prepare and Sanitize

Before you get started on making your homemade bath and body recipe, you will want to make sure that you are properly prepared. First, you will need to make sure that all the equipment that you will need is sanitized and ready for you to use. If any of your necessary equipment isn’t ready to use, then you will need to clean this equipment with soap and water. Also, you will need to make sure that your work space is clean and free of clutter. Another preparation that you will want to make is gathering all of your necessary ingredients. This will make the process of creating homemade lotion easier and even more fun! Once your ingredients, equipment, and work space are ready to use, then you will be ready to get started with this bath and body recipe.

Cucumber Mint Body Cream Recipe: Double BoilerCucumber Mint Body Cream Recipe: Double Boiler

The last thing that you are going to want to set up before getting started with your cosmetic recipe is your double boiler. Anyone that already has a double boiler can move on to starting this cosmetic recipe. If you don’t already have a double boiler of your own, then you can make your own with supplies that you likely already have at your home. You will need to use two differently sized pots to create your double boiler. You will want to make sure that the smaller pot will fit into the larger pot. So, you can use the larger pot to hold the boiling water. Then, place your smaller pot inside the larger pot. You will need to make sure that the water won’t boil over. Once your water is boiling you will fill your smaller pot with the cosmetic ingredients that you need to melt.

Cucumber Mint Body Cream Recipe: Preparing the Water Phase

First, you are going to prepare the water phase for your homemade conditioner. Before you weigh out the water for your cosmetic recipe, you will want to boil the water to kill germs. So, you will need to start with at least 850 grams of distilled water. It is important to have extra water before you begin boiling because some of the water will evaporate. You will need to heat your water to at least 180 degrees Fahrenheit and hold this high temperature for at least 20 minutes. This will help you to destroy any bacteria that could be in the water.

Preparing the Water Phase: Add the Chickweed HerbPreparing the Water Phase: Add the Chickweed Herb

Now, we are going to create a tea using the chick weed herb.  This is just one way to infuse an herb into handmade lotions.  So, we will create a strong tea.  Fill three tea bags with the chickweed herb.  You will need about 3 tablespoons of the herb for each tea bag.  Then, add them to your water as it is boiling.  Chick weed herb is a wonderful herb that is wonderful for dry itchy skin.  American Indians were known for using chickweed for wounds and rashes.  Many use it to help with skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and boils.  Chickweed helps with cell-proliferation.  This helps wounds heal faster.

Cucumber Mint Body Cream Recipe: Preparing the Oil PhaseCucumber Mint Body Cream Recipe: Preparing the Oil Phase

Next, you are going to be preparing the oil phase of your refreshing body cream recipe. So, you are going to need to weigh out some of your cosmetic oils. You will need to use 16 grams of Stearic Acid, 48 grams of the Emulsifying Wax, 80 grams of Argan Oil, 36 grams of Lanolin Oil, and 20 grams of Cocoa Butter. After you have your ingredients measured, you will be ready to begin melting your scented lotion ingredients. Now, you can add all of these cosmetic supplies to your smaller pot. You will want to occasionally stir your ingredients as they are melting to avoid possible scorching. Once all of your body cream supplies are in a fluid state, you are ready to move on to the next step.

Cucumber Mint Body Cream Recipe: Weighing the Sterilized WaterCucumber Mint Body Cream Recipe: Weighing the Sterilized Water

Once your water has been boiling for at least 20 minutes you will be ready to use your freshly sterilized water. Now, you can remove your water from the heat source, remove the tea bags, and weigh out 706 grams of your sterilized water. You can add this water to your medium mixing bowl. While you need to wait before mixing the cosmetic oils and water, you can move on to the next step in this bath and body recipe.

Cucumber Mint Body Cream Recipe: Mixing Your Oil and Water TogetherCucumber Mint Body Cream Recipe: Mixing Your Oil and Water Together

Before you can mix your cosmetic oils with your prepared tea you need to make sure that these two phases are at the right temperature. The temperature is extremely important to ensure that the cosmetic ingredients emulsify with the water. Otherwise, your finished product will separate and not serve as a good lotion recipe. These two phases should each be at about 140 degrees Fahrenheit before combining the two. Also, you will want these phases to be no more than 10 degrees apart. You can use your candy thermometer to monitor the temperatures. Once you have the correct temperature, you can add both the water and oil to a larger mixing bowl. Then, you can use a stick blender to combine these two phases well. If you notice that your mixture is beginning to turn white as you continue to blend, then you will know that your mixture is emulsifying.

Cucumber Mint Body Cream Recipe: Adding the Remaining Cosmetic IngredientsCucumber Mint Body Cream Recipe: Adding the Remaining Cosmetic Ingredients

Now that the water and cosmetic oils have been completely emulsified, you are going to want to let your mixture cool. So, you will want to monitor the temperature until it reaches about 120 degrees Fahrenheit. You will want to be careful that you don’t go any lower than this temperature before you add your remaining cosmetic ingredients. Now you will need to weigh and add 10 grams of the Vitamin E Oil, 14 grams of the Optiphen Preservative, and 12 grams of the Cucumber Mint Fragrance Oil to your mixture. Again, you will want to use a stick blender to mix these newly added ingredients into your previously emulsified mixture.

If you are worried about this thinner consistency of your lotion, you will just need to wait for your lotion to cool.  Your lotion will continue to thicken as it cools down to room temperature. So, don’t worry just yet! As your scented lotion begins to cool, you will need to stick blend periodically to make sure that all of the ingredients in your lotion recipe be mixed together well. What is Spinach Powder Used for? At Natures Garden we use herbs, like Spinach Leaf Powder, for creating all sorts of lovely cosmetic products. This powered herb is perfect for adding to your homemade soap supplies, lotion making supplies, and supplies for many more wonderful cosmetic recipes. Not only can you use spinach as a natural colorant, but it is full of great properties and nutrients for the entire body. You can eat fresh leaves of spinach and you can use the spinach in a powdered herb to nourish your body inside and out! This is sure to maximize the exposure of these beneficial vitamins and minerals to your entire body.  So, let’s get into what exactly the properties are that these healthy greens have for our bodies.

What is Spinach Powder Used for? Growing ConditionsWhat is Spinach Powder Used for? Growing Conditions

Spinach plants prefer to grow in cooler temperatures. For common spinach, you will want to plant in midsummer. If you have a mild winter, you could even plant in the fall. However, this depends on your climate. Either way, the soil should not be over 70 degrees Fahrenheit for your seeds. However, your spinach is able to survive all the way down to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Once your spinach sprouts are about two inches high, you should thin them to be about three inches apart. After this, all you have to do is water regularly and use mulch to keep them moist. You can harvest the leaves whenever they are big enough, but you should try to cut the outer leaves first. This will ensure that the middle leaves can continue to grow.

One wonderful tip for reducing damage due to leaf miners is to plant radishes. The radishes will not only distract the pests from your spinach, but the roots will continue to grow unaffected! While starting sprouts inside and transplanting them will be less appealing to pests like cutworms, there are other preventative measures you can take. For wireworms, can try to plant carrots nearby to trap these pests. Then, every few days after the carrot has reached maturity you can pull up the carrots, remove the worms, and replant the affected carrot. For flea beetles, you can try to lay reflective mulch or aluminum to ward them off. Also, there are baits, traps, and pesticides that you can get for your home garden for many kinds of major infestations.

What is Spinach Powder Used for?: Tips for Making Your Spinach Last

Here are a few tips on how to store your leafy, food grade spinach. First, you will want to pick out yellow and wilted leaves. Plus, you shouldn’t store things like, tomatoes, apples, or melons nearby, because the spinach is sensitive to the chemicals that these fruits produce. Also, make sure that you don’t wash your spinach before storing and you will want to add a paper towel to your container. These will both help keep the moisture levels down and prevent premature wilting.

While this will help you keep your spinach fresh longer, you don’t want to have to store spinach long. Studies on folate in spinach have shown that about half of this vitamin’s amount was gone after seven days. If you have a lot of spinach grown, then you can try freezing to extend your storage time to about two or three months. Check out How to Store Spinach by Garden Guides to learn more tips on making your spinach last!

Shimmering Lotion Recipe: Clean and Prepare

Before you begin creating your own scented lotion recipe, you may want to make a few preparations. First, you will want to gather your supplies for creating this recipe. Although this recipe doesn’t have very many ingredients, it can be useful to collect what you need before making your bath and body product. Also, prepare your equipment to make sure this process goes smoothly. Further, make sure that your equipment is all clean prior to starting to make your lotion recipe. Next, you will want to prepare an area that you can use to work on your cosmetic recipe. After you have made these preparations, you should be ready to work!

Shimmering Lotion Recipe: Sanitizing the Water

Now that you have created your double boiler you are ready to sanitize and prepare your water. First, you will need to make sure that you have enough water to make your lotion. So, you will need at least seven and a half ounces of water. However, we would recommend that you add some extra water to your pot to ensure that you have enough water remaining after some of the water evaporates. You will need to heat the water to at least 185 degrees Fahrenheit.  Once you have your water at the proper temperature keep the water at this temperature for at a minimum of five minutes. Now that your water is sanitized, you are ready to create your scented lotion recipe!

Shimmering Lotion Recipe: Cooling Your Sanitized Water

Now that any bacteria that may have been living in the water has been killed off, you can use this water to create this cosmetic lotion recipe. Although you needed to heat the water to sanitize it, you will need to cool the water before you can use it. Otherwise, the boiling hot water could potentially break down the lotion base, which would ruin the ingredients in the multi base. So, you will need to wait for your water’s temperature to drop to about 100 degrees Fahrenheit. While you wait for the temperature to lower to the proper temperature you can prepare some of your other cosmetic ingredients.

Shimmering Lotion Recipe: Measuring the Fragrance OilShimmering Lotion Recipe: Measuring the Fragrance Oil

First, you can measure out the fragrance for you scented lotion recipe. So, grab and medium mixing bowl and some disposable pipettes. Since our disposable pipettes have measurements along the side, you can use one of these pipettes to measure out 9 milliliters of the Frost and Snowdrops Fragrance Oil. You will love the romantic aroma of this fragrance oil in your lotion recipe. This scent begins with top notes of refreshing winter air that are followed by the aroma of sweet winter flowers. Finally, this fragrance has base notes of iced musk, vanilla, and sandalwood. So, this is a fantastic ingredient that you can add to this lovely bath and body recipe.

Shimmering Lotion Recipe: Adding the Lotion Multi BaseShimmering Lotion Recipe: Adding the Lotion Multi Base

Next, you will need to add the lotion base to your medium mixing bowl. You can gram scale to measure out four ounces of this lotion base. This base contains all the cosmetic oils and butters that you will need to nourish your skin. Further, this mulit base lotion contains a preservative as well. So, this premade mixture has all the cosmetic ingredients that you need to make a great homemade lotion!

Shimmering Lotion Recipe: Multi Base for Making LotionShimmering Lotion Recipe: Multi Base for Making Lotion

If you are interested in learning a bit more about what is in our natural soy butter, then check out some of the cosmetic ingredients. First, this lotion bases contains sunflower oil, soya oil, vegetable glycerin, tocopherol (vitamin E), meadowfoam oil, jojoba oil, soya milk, aloe vera,  and vitamin C. These ingredients are included to nourish and care for the skin in various ways. Not only does this base nourish the skin, but it provides light texture and doesn’t leave behind a greasy feel. Further, this lotion base includes Germall Plus, which acts as a preservative. We include up to 1% of this preservative in our formulations. Although you can use up to 5% of this preservative safely, you can use 0.1 to 0.2 percent of Germall Plus to effectively preserve your lotion.

Shimmering Lotion Recipe: Adding the Sanitized WaterShimmering Lotion Recipe: Adding the Sanitized Water

Now that your water has cooled, you are ready to add it to the lotion base. If you didn’t wait for the water to cool down properly, you could’ve potentially ruined the lotion base. This could occur because a multi base can start to break down once it gets too hot. So, you can retrieve your medium mixing bowl to add the sanitized water. Now, use your scale to measure out seven and a half ounces of water. Although your water won’t be scorching hot, it should still be warm enough, at one hundred degrees Fahrenheit, to melt the lotion base as the lotion making ingredients are mixed together.

Shimmering Lotion Recipe: Mixing the Cosmetic Ingredients TogetherShimmering Lotion Recipe: Mixing the Cosmetic Ingredients Together

Next, we are going to emulsify these three cosmetic ingredients to create our scented lotion. So, you will need to use a stick blender to mix these ingredients thoroughly. Once all of your ingredients have been blended together fully, you will be finished with the mixer. Although your mix of cosmetic ingredients will be a bit thin at this point, the scented bath and body recipe will thicken as this the ingredients cool. Since we have a few more ingredients to add, your lotion should be ready to scoop into the wholesale cosmetic jars once everything has been combined.

Shimmering Lotion Recipe: Adding the Mica DustShimmering Lotion Recipe: Adding the Mica Dust

Finally, you are ready to add the shimmer and shine to your scented lotion. So, you can use a measuring spoon to add two teaspoons of the diamond dust mica powder to your lotion mixture. Once you have added this cosmetic ingredient, you will need to thoroughly mix this ingredient into your scented lotion recipe. This will leave you with a finished product that glistens like sunlight off the fresh blanket of powdery snow!

Shimmering Lotion Recipe: Coloring the LotionShimmering Lotion Recipe: Coloring the Lotion

Next, you are going to add the lovely coloring to your scented lotion recipe. So, you will need to be adding a cosmetic colorant to your mixture of cosmetic supplies. This will turn the color of your homemade lotion recipe to a beautiful, light blue hue. In order to get the right shade of blue, you will need to add just four drops of our Blue Da Bomb soap dye to your cosmetic mixture. After you have included this wonderful dye, you will need to mix this cosmetic ingredient into your recipe until you have reached the perfect frosty blue color for this magical winter season.

Shimmering Lotion Recipe: Packaging Your Finished ProductShimmering Lotion Recipe: Packaging Your Finished Product

Now that all of the lotion making ingredients have been combined, you are ready to start packaging your finished product. However, you may need to wait a bit longer for your lotion mixture to cool. You will know that the lotion is ready to transfer when it gets thickens and the temperature of the lotion is at room temperature. At this point, you can either pour or scoop the lotion mixture into your cosmetic jars. After pouring your mixture, you will find that you will be able to fill two of our eight ounce jars. The very last step is putting the lids on your filled jars. So, now you can either store your finished lotion or start using it to nourish your skin!

Aloe Body Cream: What Exactly is AloeAloe Body Cream: What Exactly is Aloe

So what is Aloe exactly? Well, most of us know it is a plant, and the gel that you squeeze from the plant is a must have to help soothe a summer sunburn. However, there are so many other uses and benefits from this spiky looking plant. Aloe barbadensis miller, or Aloe Vera, is a succulent plant that is native to the Mediterranean region as well as East and South Africa area. It is an incredibly adaptable plant and can now be found on just about any continent! Aloe Vera is one of the oldest known plants that has been used medicinally and can be traced back over 6,000 years to ancient Egypt. Ancient carvings contain images of the aloe plant, which they referred to as the “plant of immortality.” It was supposedly given as a gift to deceased pharaohs.

There is more to this plant than the use of its gel for sunburn, though. It contains many nutrients and minerals that are important to the body. Manganese, potassium, magnesium, zinc, copper, calcium, sodium, iron and chromium. Along with these nutrients are many body-healthy vitamins such as niacin, folic acid, vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and B12 plus, vitamin C and E. That is a lot of nutrients for such an unpretentious looking plant to have!

What can Aloe Vera be used for? Well, there are many uses for this plant! Most know that it is a wonderful anti-inflammatory and antibiotic. The range for medical treatment has widened profoundly in the past ten years. Since it has been developed into a capsule form, Aloe can be used to help treat respiratory disorders such as bronchitis, diabetes, ulcerative colitis, or hepatitis. Studies have been done on how Aloe Vera can even be used as a possible treatment for breast cancer!

Topically, Aloe Vera is amazing! Since it is best known for is skin care properties, you can find aloe in all types of bath and body products. It’s rich nutrients and vitamins are perfect to help keep your skin healthy and glowing! Since it is an anti-inflammatory and an anti-fungal, it is perfect for those who suffer from acne or psoriasis. Aloe can even make the skin firmer as well as keeping it hydrated and reducing any wrinkles or fine lines.

Another amazing benefit Aloe Vera has to offer: it is also wonderful to use in hair products. It can help control frizz, add luster and strength to the hair. It also works as a great rinse for oily hair. Aloe is also good to help prevent dandruff or by rejuvenating the hair follicles which helps reduce hair loss.

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: Other Uses for Aloe VeraAloe Body Cream Recipe: Other Uses for Aloe Vera

One last thing before we get started on our recipe: Nature’s Garden sells Aloe Vera Powder for external use only. We do not sell it as a food item. The information above is for educational purposes only and is not to be used as medical advice. Now let’s talk about some of the ingredients we will be using in the lotion!

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: Argan OilAloe Body Cream Recipe: Argan Oil

Argan oil absorbs beautifully into the skin, making it a fantastic oil to include in your haircare and skincare formulations. This luxurious oil allows the skin to breathe and is used in many acne-fighting formulas. It is a perfect addition to this lotion!

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: Mango ButterAloe Body Cream Recipe: Mango Butter

Mango Butter is a rich, intensive moisturizer that helps protect the skin from UV rays and is perfect for those who want to help prevent aging skin. It will help soften wrinkles, smooth fine lines and help improve the look of your skin.

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: Stearic AcidAloe Body Cream Recipe: Stearic Acid

Stearic Acid is used in all types of bath and body products. When it is used in lotions or creams it acts as a thickener. If we had chosen to not use stearic acid in this recipe, it would not have that thick, creamy texture to it.

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: Fractionated Coconut OilAloe Body Cream Recipe: Fractionated Coconut Oil

This lovely oil looks different from the regular Coconut Oil, it has the same benefits. The only difference is that the whole coconut oil has had certain components of the oil removed leaving a clear, shelf-stable oil that can be used for many things such as medical, cosmetics or even industrial. Fractionated Coconut Oil also makes a very good carrier oil.

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: Other Ingredients and Equipment You’ll Need

  • Distilled Water
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Stainless Steel Spoon
  • Stovetop
  • (2) Pots
  • Stick Blender
  • Scale

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: Total Recipe Weights

  • 706 grams of Distilled Water
  • 80 grams Fractionated Coconut Oil
  • 36 grams Argan Oil
  • 48 grams Silky Emulsifying Wax
  • 20 grams Mango Butter
  • 16 grams Stearic Acid
  • 10 grams Vitamin E Oil
  • 14 grams Optiphen Preservative
  • 12 grams Orchid Rain Fragrance Oil
  • 25 grams Aloe Leaf Powder

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: Before You Get Started

Before you get started on preparing your lotion, it’s always best to take a moment to prep your work area. Go ahead and clean and sanitize your work area, equipment and packaging supplies. Also, have your ingredients at an easy reach. This will help streamline your process of making the lotion without having any interruptions. Also, always use cooking equipment that is no longer used for cooking.

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: The Water Phase

Making any type of body butter, lotion or cream is done in four phases. The first phase is the water phase. You will be preparing your water. We suggest using distilled water. So using a pot that you no longer will be using for food, weigh out 850 grams of distilled water. While you will not need quite this much, some of the water will evaporate. It is always better to have too much water than not enough. Place the pot of water on your stove top. Now heat your water to at least 180 degrees Fahrenheit. You will want to keep the water at this temperature for 20 minutes. This ensures that the heat will destroy any bacteria that may be in the water.

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: The Aloe Leaf Powder

While you are waiting for the water to heat up, you can prepare the aloe leaf powder. Go ahead and take a tea bag. Add in the 25 grams of the Aloe Leaf Powder.

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: Adding the Aloe Leaf PowderAloe Body Cream Recipe: Adding the Aloe Leaf Powder

Next, when your water has reached the correct temperature and has been held for the 20 minutes, go ahead and remove the pot from the stove. In a bowl, weigh out 706 grams of the distilled water and add the aloe tea bag to it. You can go ahead and set this bowl aside for the time being. Your water will turn a shade similar to Apple Cider Vinegar.

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: The Oil Phase

The next phase is the Oil Phase. We will be using the double boiler method for this step. Have 2 pots ready to use. One pot should be able to fit into a larger pot. In the small pot, go ahead and weigh out all the following ingredients: 36 grams Argan Oil, 80 grams of Fractionated Coconut Oil, 16 grams of Stearic Acid, 48 grams of Silky Emulsifying Wax and 20 grams of Mango Butter.

To the second pot, add just a few inches worth of tap water and place it on your stove top. Turn your heat to medium and place the smaller pot inside the larger pot. Next, you will heat the oils and butter to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, stirring occasionally until all the ingredients are melted. Once these ingredients have reached the correct temperature, you can remove the smaller pot from the double boiler and turn off your heat.

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: The Mixing PhaseAloe Body Cream Recipe: The Mixing Phase

Before you get started on the third phase, the mixing phase, you will want to make sure the distilled water you heated earlier is at 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Both the water and the oils need to be at the same temperature before you start mixing. If your water has cooled too much go ahead and heat it back to 140 degrees. (Before you combine the ingredients together, you can remove the aloe tea bag from the water.) So once both water and oils are at the same temperature, add them both to a large deep mixing bowl. Next, you will take your stick blender and mix the ingredients together. As you are mixing, you will notice that the mixture is turning white in color. This simply means that your lotion is starting to emulsify

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: The Cool Down PhaseAloe Body Cream Recipe: The Cool Down Phase

Now you need to check the temperature of the mixture. It should be cooled to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Since you will be adding the Optiphen in, the temperature needs to be below 140 degrees. If Optiphen is added at too high a temperature, the preserving qualities of the preservative may be destroyed.  Now once the temperature of the cream has cooled to the 120 degrees, you can now weigh in 14 grams of Optiphen, 10 grams of vitamin E and 12 grams of Orchid Rain fragrance oil. Then, once again using your stick blender, mix these additions into your emulsified water and oil mixture.

Aloe Body Cream Recipe: Packaging Up Your ProductAloe Body Cream Recipe: Packaging Up Your Product

As the cream is cooling, stick blend occasionally to ensure that it is emulsifying properly. Also, as your lotion cools, it will thicken up. Finally, after your cream has cooled and reached room temperature, you can place the cream in your jars and place the lids on top! This recipe makes five 8 ounce jars of body cream!

How Do You Make Scented Lotion?: Emulsifiers

One of the most important parts of making lotion is the emulsifier. This is the ingredient that keeps everything together because the oils and water that are being mixed would separate otherwise. Since oils are non-polar, they only want to mix with other non-polar substances. But, we want these non-polar oils to mix with polar water. Similarly, polar water only wants to mix with other polar things. So, we need an ingredient that has both polar and non-polar parts, which is what we call an emulsifier! As you can see this single ingredient is quite crucial.

How Do You Make Scented Lotion?: Thickeners

Another important ingredient for home made lotion making is the thickener. While some recipes will be just fine without one, others really need a thickener. But, it is all about the consistency that you prefer. If you are looking to make a butter or cream, then you will want something thicker. Or, your batch may just light lotion that doesn’t require a thickener like stearic acid or sodium lactate. It is all dependent upon the type of lotion you are creating.

How Do You Make Scented Lotion?: Stearic AcidHow Do You Make Scented Lotion?: Stearic Acid

Since Stearic Acid is a thickener, it can be used in lotions to create a more creamy, luxurious lotion. This is useful for recipes that are nearly perfect but are a little too runny. We recommend that you add no more than 3% of this ingredient in your overall recipe.

How Do You Make Scented Lotion?: Sodium Lactate

Instead, you could use Sodium Lactate in your lotion recipes. This ingredient can be used to help thicken your handmade lotions too. Additionally, this cosmetic ingredient can be used to regulate the pH of your product. In addition it is a humactant, so it helps moisturize your skin. Depending on your needs you may prefer one these over the other.

So, you can combine one of these cosmetic ingredients with your butters and oils to create the perfect lotion recipe that will nourish and moisturize your skin!

How Do You Make Scented Lotion?: Vegetable GlycerinHow Do You Make Scented Lotion?: Vegetable Glycerin

You can use Vegetable Glycerin in your recipes to add some extra moisture to your skin. This ingredient is clear, odorless, and has a syrup consistency. Plus, it is soluble in water. The highest amount we will ever recommend will be 5%, but the IFRA sheet may allow more depending on the scent. However, there are some scents that may use less than 5%. You can find out the usage rate for each scent on its fragrance page. You can find all of our fragrance oil options on the Fragrance Oils page of the website.

Shimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Preparing Your Equipment and Work Space

Before you begin creating your homemade lotion recipe, there are a few things that you may want to do to prepare. These preparations will make the process easier and even make it quicker. First, you will want to clean your equipment and supplies for this recipe, which makes sure that everything is ready for you to use. Also, you may want to clean and wipe down your work space. This will make sure that you have enough room to work on your lotion. Also, we suggest that you wear a pair of gloves, an apron, a face mask, and a hair net while preparing this recipe. After everything is clean and ready, its time to start creating this lovely lotion recipe.

Shimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Preparing the Water

First, you are going to want to prepare the water for your lotion recipe. So, you will need to add some distilled water to your stove pot. You are going to need to boil the water to kill bacteria and make sure your lotion is as clean as possible. After your water is heated, you are going to need 48 ounces. So, make sure that you have more than this amount in your stove pot, as the some of the water will evaporate during the heating process.

Now, you will need to heat your water to at least 185 degrees Fahrenheit. After the water reaches this temperature, you will want to make sure the water holds this temperature for at least five minutes. Once this amount of time has passed, you can remove the pot of water from the heat source. You will need to measure 48 ounces of the water into one of your mixing bowls. At this point, you are going to want your measured water to cool a bit. After your water has cooled you can move on to the next step.

Shimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Cooling the Water

Next, we are going to mix the water with the Goat’s Milk Multi-Base Lotion. Before you go to start mixing these ingredients, you need to make sure that your water is at the right temperature. First, you need to let your water cool down. While we needed to boil the water to sterilize it, we can’t immediately use the hot water in this mixture. If we use this hot water with our lotion base, then we are likely going to break down the base. So, you are going to need to cool your water to about 100 degrees Fahrenheit before you can combine this with the base.

Shimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Combining the Water and Lotion BaseShimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Combining the Water and Lotion Base

Now that your water has cooled to the right temperature you are ready to add the goat milk lotion base to the water. So, weigh 16 ounces of the Goat’s Milk Multi-Base Lotion and add it to your previously measured 48 ounces of water. After you combine these two ingredients you are going to mix them well. You will need to use your stick blender to emulsify these two ingredients together. So, you will want to continue mixing until all the water has been incorporated. If you are wondering when your mixture is finished, then know that you will be able to tell that you are done when the mixture looks like lotion.

Shimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Adding the Natural BronzerShimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Adding the Natural Bronzer

Now that your homemade lotion has been made, we are ready to add the color to your recipe. I added this at the same time as my water,  You can add it before the water or after, the choice is totally yours.  While this lotion won’t help you get a tan, it is perfect for adding a bit of color to your skin while you moisturize. For this homemade lotion recipe we are using organic cocoa powder to create a natural color for this lotion. So, take 5 teaspoons of the Organic Cocoa Powder and add it to your lotion base mixture. After the cocoa powder has been measured and added to your mixture, you need to mix thoroughly. You will need to make sure to break up any clumps of the herb. Breaking these clumps will ensure that the color is distributed evenly throughout the entire mixture. It may be helpful to use the stick blender again to mix this all together. This will leave your lotion with a light, bronzing pigment that is beautiful and naturally colored.

Shimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Adding the Fragrance OilShimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Adding the Fragrance Oil

Next, you are going to want to add the scented oil into your bronzing lotion. This ingredient takes your gorgeous and nourishing lotion and brings it up a notch. So, you are going to measure 1.92 ounces of the NG Copper Hue Suntan Lotion Fragrance Oil. You can either weigh this amount in a small bowl or directly into the lotion mixture. Then, you will want to combine the scented oil with your lotion and mix well. Once all of your fragrance oil has been thoroughly included into the lotion mixture. After everything is mixed together you are ready to move on to the next step.

Shimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Adding the Shimmer and SparkleShimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Adding the Shimmer and Sparkle

We can’t forget about adding all the shimmer and shine! Our last ingredient for this recipe is going to be the gorgeous 24 K Gold Mica Pigment. This ingredient is going to enhance the gold hue of the natural colorant and leave you sparkling. So, let’s get started! You will need to take three teaspoons of the gold mica pigment and add it to your lotion. Then, make sure that you thoroughly mix the mica into your lotion recipe. After all the sparkle and shine has been completely incorporated, your lotion will be ready to use. If you feel like you need a bit more glam, then you can try adding a bit more mica. However, our recipe has a great amount of shine. So, you should have enough glam for your pretty bronzing lotion.

Shimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Packaging You Finished Product

Next, you are going to bottle up your finished homemade bronzer lotion. Since it would be difficult to pour your lotion directly into a bottle from the mixing bowl, we are going to take a different approach to packaging. First off you are going to need to transfer all of your lotion into the gallon Ziplock bag. You can use your mixing spoon or spatula to transfer everything into the Ziplock. After, you are going to seal the bag and use a pair of scissors to cut a small piece off the corner of the bag. However, you may want to set up your 8 oz bullet bottle before cutting the bag. Now can use your Ziplock bag to neatly and quickly fill your bottles. Once you have filled all your clear bullet bottles you can screw the 24/410 lotion pump onto your bottles

Shimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Using Your Finished Product

Finally, your diy bronzer lotion is complete and ready to use! You can perfectly use this lotion to add a bit of color and shimmer to your skin. You will be able to use this delightful cosmetic lotion to add a bronzing glow to your skin. Just remember that this lotion isn’t meant for helping tan, but just adds some color and nourishes your skin. While the lotion is perfect for adding some color to your skin, the appearance isn’t the only benefit that you can get from this lotion base recipe. Our effective lotion base recipe uses wonderful, skin-loving ingredients that create a great lotion recipe. This Lotion Multi-Base uses vitamins and luxurious cosmetic oils. You are sure to love this homemade cosmetic lotion recipe!

Shimmering Bronzer Lotion Recipe: Standards of Beauty Through Time

While it may seem like the standard of beauty that we all know of today is obvious and permanent, there are other ideas on what is beautiful is different through time and in different cultures. I’ve always found it interesting to learn about all the changes in preferences for make up, fashion, and body type. Some ideas of ideal beauty from times and places are even considered unattractive today and vice versa. For example, in the Elizabethan Era pale skin was considered ideal and women would use a white powder, ceruse, to make themselves look paler. So, the idea of tanning or using bronzing lotion would’ve been ridiculous to people of this culture. But, this isn’t the only way that cosmetics were used differently throughout history. There are even more beauty standards throughout history. A Buzzfeed Article called “This Is How Dramatically Women’s Makeup Has Changed Throughout History” talks about a few different appearance preferences that people have tried to achieve through cosmetics.
