Pumpkin Bubble Bars Recipe: Some of the Ingredients Used

Our next ingredient is Sodium Bicarbonate or Baking Soda. This is is a natural alkaline that is used in cosmetic formulations and cleaning formulas to lift dirt, and remove oils. Using baking soda in your bathtub will leave your skin soft and silky feeling.  It also has the same effect on your hair when used in a rinse. Baking Soda is most often combined with Citric Acid when making bath bombs.

Pumpkin Bubble Bars Recipe: Cream of TartarPumpkin Bubble Bars Recipe: Cream of Tartar

Cream of Tartar is our next ingredient. Most people assume Cream of Tartar is just for baking, however, it is used in many bath products such as bath cookies and of course, bubble bars. Cream of Tartar acts as a stabilizer and allows the ingredients to adhere each other. It will also give the product a more “airy and fluffier” texture.

Corn Starch is up next. This is another ingredient used widely in the culinary world as a natural thickener for soups, gravies or sauces, but corn starch is also widely used in skincare formulas to provide the skin with silkiness and to relieve irritation.

Pumpkin Bubble Bars: Pumpkin Seed OilPumpkin Bubble Bars: Pumpkin Seed Oil

Because we are making pumpkins, we chose to incorporate some Pumpkin Seed Oil! Pumpkin Seed Oil is loaded with many nutrients, such as, Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, Vitamins E, A, and C.  It is also rich in the mineral, zinc. Pumpkin seed oil readily sinks into the skin; not leaving the skin feeling oily and can help to repair dry, damaged skin.

Pumpkin Bubble Bars Recipe: Harvest Moon Fragrance OilPumpkin Bubble Bars Recipe: Harvest Moon Fragrance Oil

The fragrance we chose for these fall bubble bars, is our Harvest Moon fragrance oil. This fragrance is a fresh, crisp mix of blueberries, pineapple, eucalyptus with woodsy bass notes of spruce, fir and cedar. A complex mixture of scents that wouldn’t seem like they could go together. Very unique!

Pumpkin Bubble Bars Recipe: Before You Get Started

To the bowl, weigh in 410 grams Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, 460 grams of Baking Soda, 224 grams of Cream of Tartar and 72 grams of Corn Starch. To that mixing bowl, weigh in 200 grams of Vegetable Glycerin, 24 grams of Pumpkin Seed Oil and 14 grams of Harvest Moon fragrance oil. Give this a nice stir to mix the oils well. Now that your oils are mixed nicely, go ahead and add them to the bowl containing the dry ingredients. Using your gloved hands, mix these ingredients together completely. Continue to mix until you have a dough-like consistency. Note: If your dough is too dry and crumbles, you can add a little more vegetable glycerin. However, use with caution. Adding too much will make your dough too wet and it may not setup properly.

Pumpkin Bubble Bars Recipe: Setting Aside a Small Amount

You will be decorating the bubble bars with a small amount of the dough that will be colored later. So, take a small bowl and place it on your scale. Tare out the weight and to the bowl, add 28 grams of the dough mix. You can set this aside for the time being.

Next, you will be forming the dough into pumpkin shapes. Separate the dough into 7 even-sized portions and using your hands, form the portions into balls. Pack them tightly, just like if you were making a snowball. Make sure they are even and smooth with no cracks showing or they will not set up properly.

Halloween is a fun tradition that is just full of orange pumpkins, black cats, spooky costumes, and trick-or-treating. But, have you ever thought to question how these Halloween traditions came to be a part of our tradition? Well this holiday came from the ancient festival of Samhain, which is an ancient Celtic tradition that took place on November first. During this celebration the Celtic people would light bonfires and use costumes to ward off ghosts. Later, Pope Gregory III used this same day to honor the saints and incorporated some of these Celtic traditions. Eventually, the night before, or Hallows Eve, is known to be the night of spirits and trickery. If you want to learn more about the origins of this holiday, then you may want to check out what the History Channel has to say about the Ancient Origins of Halloween.

First, you will want to clear and sanitize an area of space that you can use as a work area. Additionally, you will want to gather all of the needed lip balm making supplies, which includes the cosmetic ingredients and crafting equipment. Further, we would suggest that you wear gloves, a hair net, and some protective clothing during the preparation of this lip balm recipe. Next, you will want to clean all of the equipment needed for this recipe, as it will make sure your products are clean and your process goes quickly. Now, you ready to create this fun lip care recipe!

Halloween Lip Gloss Recipe: Creating a Double Boiler

If you know how to create your double boiler, then you can move on to the next tape in this process. However, anyone that needs to learn a bit about this process can follow these easy steps. First, you will need to take a medium sized pot and add about an inch or two of water. Now, you will need to boil the water. Once the water is boiling, you will need to place a smaller pot into the water of the medium pot. Make sure that the water in the medium pot won’t overflow into the smaller pot. This water could potentially ruin the ingredients, as the inner pot will hold the ingredients and allow you to heat your cosmetic ingredients without scorching. So, you are now ready to create this lovely lip gloss recipe!

Halloween Lip Gloss Recipe: Melt Cosmetic Wax and OilsHalloween Lip Gloss Recipe: Melt Cosmetic Wax and Oils

First, you are going to need to prepare your first few nourishing lip care ingredients. So, retrieve your craft scale and measure out the cosmetic oils and cosmetic grade beeswax. You will need to measure out a half ounce of beeswax. The beeswax helps to hold the cosmetic recipe together and provide a bit of integrity to the lip care product. So, your finished lip gloss will remain in solid form with all of the silky, moisturizing oils.

Two of the cosmetic oils that you will need are the pumpkin seed oil and the jojoba oil, So, you will need three ounces of the pumpkin seed oil. This cosmetic oil is perfect for providing a glossy sheen and nourishing your lips. If you want to learn more about this nourishing ingredient, then you may want to check out our previous blog on Pumpkin Seed Oil Benefits! This blog goes more in depth about the benefits of this oil for the body. Also, you will need to use one ounce of the jojoba oil, which is a fantastic for nourishing and caring for your lips. Now, you are going to need to melt the beeswax. So, add these three ingredients to your double boiler. Make sure that you mix these ingredients occasionally to prevent scotching. Once these cosmetic ingredients have completely melted you can remove the mixture from heat.

Halloween Lip Gloss Recipe: Include the Herb and a Cosmetic OilHalloween Lip Gloss Recipe: Include the Herb and a Cosmetic Oil

Next, you will be ready to add a few more cosmetic ingredients to this mixture. Since the white beeswax pastilles are completely melted, you are ready to add these next two ingredients for this recipe.  So, you will be able to add in one gram of the activated charcoal cosmetic herb. This cosmetic herb is what gives this lip gloss its color. Further, activated charcoal is a fantastic and is often used to detoxify and cleanse your body naturally. Also, you will need to add four grams of vitamin E oil into the mixture. This cosmetic oil has some benefits for the lips. Not only does this cosmetic oil nourish the skin, but it will help to protect the skin from environmental factors. So, this cosmetic oil can be useful for providing some protection to your lips from the UV rays of the sun.

After you measure out and include all of these cosmetic ingredients you will need to mix everything together. Once both of these two lip balm making ingredients are thoroughly mixed you can move on to the next part of this process. This is going to be is adding the yummy flavoring!

Halloween Lip Gloss Recipe: Add the Lip Balm FlavoringHalloween Lip Gloss Recipe: Add the Lip Balm Flavoring

Next, you are ready to add in the lip balm flavor. So, you will need to include one millimeter of the Kiss of Death Flavor Oil. You can use a disposable pipette to measure out this amount of flavoring. Then, you can include it into your mixture. This scrumptiously fruit flavoring oil is full of childhood nostalgia, as it is reminiscent of the sweet taste of fruit punch. So, this fantastic flavor oil is perfect for creating delicious lip balm recipes. After you incorporate this yummy flavor oil into your melted lip gloss mixture, you can move on to the last step.

Halloween Lip Gloss Recipe: Packaging the Lip BalmHalloween Lip Gloss Recipe: Packaging the Lip Balm

Finally, you are ready to package your cosmetic recipe. So, you are going to need to gather your containers and packaging supplies. You will need about eight lip balm pots in total. First, you will want to remove each of the caps from your lip balm containers. Also, it will be helpful to line up the wholesale lip balm pots. Now, you can begin to fill each one of your clear jars with your finished lip balm mixture.

There are a few different ways that you can fill your lip balm pots. One method that you can use to fill your wholesale lip balm pots is scooping the mixture into the lip balm pots. So, you can use a spoon to fill each of the lip balm containers. A different method that you can use to fill these lip balm pots is the disposable pipettes. Try to move quickly, as you will need to package all of your lip balm before it solidifies in the bowl. This is especially important for those using the disposable pipette method as the pipette can get clogged.

Halloween Lip Gloss Recipe: Using Your Lip Balm

Now, all you need to do is wait for the lip gloss to set up. After the lip gloss has completely solidified, you can move and finish packaging the clear jars. Now, you are ready to use your black Halloween lip care product! Just like any other great lip gloss, this cosmetic recipe will provide a lovely glossy shine and moisturize your lips.
