Melt and Pour Confetti Soap: Prepare the Soap for the Confetti and StreamersMelt and Pour Confetti Soap: Prepare the Soap for the Confetti and Streamers

We will prepare six colors of soap for the confetti and streamers portion of  this recipe. Each of the colors will be poured on a piece of wax paper. Once it sets up, we will cut half of the soap for streamers and half for confetti. By pouring the soap on a piece of wax paper, it will allow us to create a very thin layer of soap. We will also add a small amount of vegetable glycerin to give the soap some additional flexibility.

Prepare the Soap for the Confetti and Streamers: Create the Red SoapPrepare the Soap for the Confetti and Streamers: Create the Red Soap

We will begin with the red soap. So, in a small mixing bowl, add 42 grams of the Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap Base. In the microwave, melt the soap in 15 second intervals. Be careful not to overheat the soap base.  Next, add the tomato red FUN Soap Colorant, Happy Birthday Vanilla Cupcake fragrance oil, Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, and vegetable glycerin. Once again, use the guide above to determine how much FUN Soap Colorant, fragrance oil, and vegetable glycerin to add. Stir well to completely incorporate the ingredients. Finally, pour your red soap onto a sheet of wax paper. Spray you red soap with rubbing alcohol to eliminate any air bubbles. Allow this to setup.

Prepare the Soap for the Confetti and Streamers: Create the Red Soap

Once the soap has setup, remove it from the wax paper.  Then, cut it in half.  Cut one half into tiny squares.  Cut the second half into thin strips and curl them in spirals.  Place the confetti pieces in one bowl.  Then, the spirals in a second bowl.

Be careful not to overheat the soap base.  Next, add the Neon Yellow FUN Soap Colorant, Happy Birthday Vanilla Cupcake fragrance oil, Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, and vegetable glycerin. Use the guide above to determine how much color, fragrance, and vegetable glycerin to use. Stir well to completely incorporate the ingredients. Melt and Pour Confetti Soap:  Prepare the White LayerMelt and Pour Confetti Soap:  Prepare the White Layer

At this time, we will prepare the white layer.  First, you will need to weigh out 140 grams of Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap.  In the microwave melt the soap in 30 second intervals until the mp soap is in a liquid state.

Melt and Pour Confetti Soap:  Prepare the White Layer

Now that the oatmeal soap base is melted, add the Happy Birthday Vanilla Cupcake Fragrance Oil and the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  Stir to completely blend the ingredients together. Next, pour 1/3 of the melted oatmeal soap into each of cavities of the basic rectangle soap mold. Once the soap is poured, spray the soap with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles. Let the soap setup completely before moving on.

Once again, in your microwave, heat the clear soap base in 30 second intervals until it is completely melted. Be careful not to overheat the soap.  Then, add the fragrance oil and Vanilla White Color Stabilizer. Stir to mix the ingredients into the soap base.

You will need to move quickly over the next couple steps.  So, first, spray the previous white layer of soap that is in the mold with rubbing alcohol. Next, pour the clear soap into each cavity of the mold. It should be poured directly on top of the white layer.

Melt and Pour Confetti Soap:  Prepare the Clear Layer

Finally, quickly add both confetti and spirals to each bar of soap. Let some of the spirals pop out of the soap slightly. Finally, spray the soap with rubbing alcohol.  Make sure the soap has plenty of time to harden before you remove it from the soap mold.

Soap Colorants in Cold Process SoapSoap Colorants in Cold Process Soap

Have you ever noticed, that when a chef serves up a beautiful plate of food to, it will most likely has some colorful food displayed on a plain white plate. Don’t you instantly want it, regardless if you are truly hungry or not?  This is because you always “eat with your eyes first”. When you are setting out to make masterpieces of soap for your customers, you want them drawn to the colors of your soap. Soap colorants in cold process soap (or in any type of soap you make) can add another dimension to your creation. It’s the first thing everybody will see.

There are so many options out there when it comes time to color your soap. You have soap dyes, in liquid or powder form. Micas are also a colorant choice. Some micas will add sparkle and color at the same time.  Then, there is the option of natural colors using herbal powders. If you are trying to achieve a more simple, rustic look to your soaps, herbal powders are a wonderful way to go, however, natural soap colorants are a topic for another day.

Typically, you will have a recipe that can be any basic, everyday cold process soap or it can even be your own favorite cold process soap recipe. The next step is to decide your fragrance. This will always depend on your customers, a season, holiday or even a personal choice.  So, next comes the artistic part. The coloring and designing part. How will you design it? Will it be a solid color? Swirls of multiple colors? Plain, uncolored soap is an open canvas to create with. I always believe the colors depend on the fragrance. But, I also have coworkers that love having the option to create soap to match the room, using any fragrance you would like.  Take for example, Melissa, she has red soap to match one of her bathrooms scented with blueberry fragrance oil.  What colors do you see when you smell your scent of choice?

No matter what type of colorant you chose, you have the opportunity to create something that will be almost to beautiful to use. They can be true works of art.

Soap Colorants in Cold Process Soap: About Natures Garden’s FUN Soap Colorants

Before we get started talking about how to use our Fun Soap colorants though, let’s get the details about what they are like. Fun Soaps are actually colored pigments that are dispersed in vegetable glycerin. There are absolutely no chemical preservatives added.  All of our FUN Soap Colorants are vegan.  Using liquid soap pigments which have already been dispersed in vegetable glycerin helps to prevent pigments from clumping in your soap. In addition, it’s already mixed for you, saving you time and frustration. All of these soap colorants work well in melt and pour soap as well as cold process soap.  They are non-bleeding, perform well in high pH environments, and do they not morph during the saponification process. These Fun Soap colorants can also be used in any bath or body product.

Soap Colorants in Cold Process Soap: Oxide ColorsSoap Colorants in Cold Process Soap: Oxide FUN Soap Colors

Now, not all soaps have to be bright and colorful. When you are looking at a plate of brownies or chocolate cake, what comes to mind is yummy, sweet and chocolaty, right? When your products are geared more towards men then you will want something a little more masculine, if you will. The oxide colorants are going to give you deeper, richer colors. These are also perfect if you are in need more “fall-like” colors. Frankincense and Myrrh soap uses a few of the Fun Soap oxide colors, in yellow, brown and orange. These colorants are perfect for creating the colors one would associate with the fragrance oil,  Frankincense and Myrrh. A rich woodsy scent of myrrh, vanilla with a touch of floral to it.

20 Ways to Use Olive Oil 20 Ways to Use Olive Oil

Pomace grade olive oil is a rich, thick, and green grade of olive oil that is extracted from the fruit and pits of the olives. Olive Oil is one of the most popular oils for soap makers to use.  Olive oil creates white bars of soap that are very moisturizing, hard in comparison to other bars, and are exceptionally mild.  However, olive oils also works quite well in other cosmetic recipes. This oil will soften, smooth, and nourish your dry or damaged skin. So, adding this oil to your homemade body lotions, bubble bars, or scrubs would add in this extra moisturizing power. Further, this oil is less likely to clog your pores and is able to sink deep down into the skin. So, your product will not just sit on the top layer of the skin with a greasy film. Instead, this oil will nourish the skin all the way down and promote healthy growth. Below, we will show you 20 ways to use olive oil in your handcrafted bath and body products.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Preparations Prior to StartingBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Preparations Prior to Starting

Prior to preparing for your Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe, really focus on making sure your work space is prepared and ready to begin. Make sure all your equipment is clean and sanitized. Get all of the ingredients and supplies out and in your work station prior to starting as well. We also recommend putting on protective clothing, such as a soap making apron and gloves along with a hair net when making your homemade soap recipe. Finally, fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and place a sprayer on top. Rubbing alcohol not only helps with adhesion between the layers of soap but also to release any air bubbles in the soap before it sets up.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 1: Creating the EmbedsBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 1: Creating the Embeds

First, you are going to create the cute little blackberry embeds that go on top of the Blackberry Cupcake Soap’s frosting. First, you will need a microwave safe small bowl. Now, you will use your scale to weigh out 75 grams of SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap. Cut your clear melt and pour soap into small sections before you begin to melt the base.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 2: Melt in MicrowaveBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 2: Melting Your Clear Soap

Once you have weighed out your SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap, you are going to melt it in your microwave. You are going to want to melt the clear mp soap base in 30-second intervals until it is completely fluid. Also, you will want to make sure you stir the SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap while you are melting it. You need to continue to heat the base until it is in a liquid state, be careful not to overheat the soap base.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 3: Add Fragrance Oil and Soap ColorantBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 3: Coloring and Scenting the Blackberry Embeds

Next, remove the SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap from the microwave and add your soap colorants and fragrance oil. You will need to add 2 grams of Natures Garden Blackberry Jam Fragrance Oil along with 1 drop of black oxide FUN Soap Colorant. Also, add 4 drops of the Ultramarine Violet FUN Soap Colorant. Lastly, you are going to want to incorporate the ingredients fully into your melted SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap. Mix slowly until everything you added is blended thoroughly and evenly.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 4: Pouring the Blackberry Embeds

Finally, pour the SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap into 10 cavities of the raspberries and blackberries mold. We recommend getting this mold from www.flexiblemolds.com. Once you pour the soap, be sure to spray the soap with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles in your melted soap base that may have been created while mixing and pouring your melt and pour soap into the mold.  Allow the soap to completely setup before removing the blackberries from the mold.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 5: Preparing BaseBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 5: Preparing the Cupcake Bases

Now, you are going to start preparing your cupcake bases. Again, you are going to need the SLS Free Clear Soap Base. At this time you will also need the cupcake mold market mold. Next, in a small microwave-safe bowl, weigh out and melt 200 grams of your SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap Base. Remember to heat up your SLS Fee Melt and Pour Soap in the microwave in 30 second intervals so you do not overheat the clear soap. In addition, you will want to stir your soap base in between each 30 second burst to help it melt evenly.

BlackBerry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 6: Add Fragrance Oil and Soap Colorant Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 6: Adding Fragrance Oil and Soap Colorant

Once you melted your 200 grams of SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap base, you are going to add 6 grams of your Blackberry Jam Fragrance Oil and make sure it is mixed completely into your melted soap base. Next, add 15 drops of Natures Garden Ultramarine Violet FUN Soap Colorant to your melted soap base and 2 drops of your Black Oxide FUN Soap Colorant to your melted soap base. Lastly, mix both FUN Soap Colorants completely to incorporate the colors into your melted detergent-free soap base.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 7: Pour in MoldBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 7: Pouring Your Cupcake Bases

Now, you are ready to pour your SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap into your the cupcake base cavities of the cupcake mold. You will notice that this mold has four cavities, two cupcake bases and two cupcake tops. You will only need to pour the cupcake bases of the mold, not the cupcake top cavities. So, slowly pour the purple soap to fill the two cavities. Next, you are going to want to spray the purple soap with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles that may have formed. Air bubbles can get trapped in the soap as it is setting up, so make sure you spray the homemade soap as soon as you pour it. Finally, you will want to let the soap setup completely before moving on to the next step.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 9: Adding liquids to Goat Milk Melt and PourBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 8: Preparing the Whipped Soap Base for the Cupcakes

Next, you are going to prepare the whipped topping portion for your Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe. First, you are going to want to prepare the whipped soap base. For this you will need a medium size mixing bowl ready. Then, weigh out 215 grams of whipped soap base. Now, to the bowl containing the whipped soap base, add 21 grams of vegetable glycerin. Also, you are going to want to add 14 grams of Blackberry Jam Fragrance. Finally, use your hand mixer to whip the soap to a fluffy frosting like consistency. Then, set the bowl aside, you will come back to it shortly.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 9: Preparing the Goat Milk Melt and Pour

Now, in a separate bowl, we will be weighing out your Goat’s Milk MP Soap.  This soap is going to be mixed with the whipped soap base.  By adding mp soap to the whipped soap base it hardens the whipped soap a bit.  While it will still look like frosting it won’t be super soft. This means it can be easily packaged while still maintaining its cupcake appearance.  So, in a deep bowl, weigh out 215 grams of goat milk melt and pour soap. Once again, you are going to want to melt the goat milk melt and pour soap in the microwave in 30 second intervals. Once the soap base is completely melted, we can move on and put everything together.  You will need to move quickly through the next few steps as the base can setup rather fast.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 10: Add Melted and Whipped Soap BaseBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 10: Putting Everything Together

Next, we will complete the whipped soap frosting. This means it is time to put everything together. You will need to move quickly as the soap frosting does tend to setup quickly. You are going to add your melted goat milk melt and pour soap to your whipped soap base. Again, while using your hand mixer, combine the melt and pour and whipped soap base ingredients until you have a fluffy whipped frosting consistency. Be careful not to over mix.  Over mixing can cause your frosting to setup before you are able to frost the soap cupcakes.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 11: Scoop and PlaceBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 11: Topping Your Cupcakes

Now, quickly scoop some of the soap frosting onto each cupcake base you created earlier. Next, you will need the blackberry embeds you prepared earlier. You are finally ready to use those cute blackberry embeds you made! Place the blackberries on the top of each homemade soap cupcake. Push it slightly into the soap frosting so it stays in place. You should have about 10 blackberries to top both cupcakes. This blackberry soap recipe makes two cupcakes. So, this allows you to add up to 5 blackberries per soap cupcake.

Blackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 12: Finishing TouchesBlackberry Cupcake Soap Recipe Step 12: Finishing Touches

Finally, you are going to prepare the light purple drizzle that you are going to put on top of your homemade blackberry cupcake soap! First, you will want to lay down a piece of wax paper. The wax paper will help keep your area clean and protected while drizzling. Then, remove your cupcakes from the molds and place them on the wax paper. Next, go ahead and melt about 50 grams of goat’s milk melt and pour soap in the microwave. Once that is melted, you can add 1 gram of Natures Garden Blackberry Jam Fragrance Oil. Also, you are going to add 10 drops of FUN soap colorant- Ultramarine Violet. Be sure to mix the two well so you have a consistent color. Once you have created the purple drizzle, use a spoon to drizzle the melted light purple soap over the top of each cupcake. Once you have allowed the drizzle to setup, your soap cupcakes are ready to use!

Also, aroma beads will retain a nice and strong scent for this fragrance oil.

NG Cashmere & Silk Type Fragrance Oil Candle Color SuggestionFurther, a variety of different types of wax creations can be made with this gorgeous fragrance oil. Candles made with vegetable waxes or paraffin waxes can use up to 10% NG Cashmere & Silk Type Fragrance Oil. If you wish to add a color to your candle creations, then you may use any of our Spectrum Liquid Candle Dyes or color blocks. Although, we do suggest adding no colorant.  We feel a white candle color will be perfect for this scent. Just remember to never use crayons to color your candles as they will clog your wick.

NG Cashmere & Silk Type Fragrance Oil CP Soap DiscolorationNot only is this scent good for melt and pour soaps, it will work very well in cold process soap recipes. Our Cold Process Soap Testing Results have proved to us that this fragrance oil is fantastic for this method of creating soap. First of all, this scent will work perfectly for a batch that will be used to create swirled soaps. A batch that uses this scent will have no ricing, no separation, and no acceleration. While this scent has quite a few floral notes and floral scents typically accelerate, we have observed no acceleration with this fragrance oil!  The final soap will maintain a nice and sweet strong floral scent and the bars will discolor to a dark chocolate hue. Due to the 2.7% concentration of vanillin, it is possible to reduce some of the discoloration by adding vanilla white stabilizer.

NG Cashmere & Silk Type Fragrance Oil RecipeFinally, both homemade candle makers and those making bath and body products that enjoy this fragrance oil should definitively check out this romantic Massage Candle Recipe! This recipe produces the perfect candles to set the mood for a well deserved massage. All you have to do if find yourself a willing masseuse or masseur.
