8 Argan Oil Recipes8 Argan Oil Recipes

I don’t know about you but, argan oil is one of my favorite carrier oils to use in my bath and body recipes.  When used in soap, argan oil gives the bars a nice rich lather that I absolutely adore.  When used in lotion, it sinks in quickly while still moisturizing my skin.  It leaves it feeling nice and soft.  Many love argan oil in their hair care recipes as well.  In fact, since it is an ultra light oil it is perfect for those with oily hair and those that have oily skin.

In Europe, argan oil is often called “liquid gold”.  This is because of its wonderful skin- loving properties.  These are properties that come from the abundance of nutrients that are found in argan oil.  The skin loving argan oil is made by pressing argan kernels.  Argan kernels are the pits found inside a fruit grown on Argania spinosa trees in Morocco.  So, let’s look at 8 argan oil recipes from Natures Garden Candle and Soap Making Supplies.  Perhaps you will find a recipe that you can add to your bath and body line.  Whether you make scrubs, body creams, or handcrafted soap, you are sure to find something you love.

8 Argan Oil Recipes: Green Tea Scrub RecipeGreen Tea Scrub Recipe

First, argan oil is wonderful in handmade scrub recipes.  This particular scrub recipe uses green tea.  The green tea is added right into the scrub.  So, not only does the green tea scrub recipe have the antioxidant benefits of green tea it also has the benefits of argan oil.  Finally, it is the aroma of the wonderful Chubba Dubba Weight Loss Fragrance Oil.  Since this citrus fragrance oil also has notes of green tea, we thought it would be the perfect scent to complement this green tea sugar scrub recipe.  This original fragrance oil by Natures Garden is the blend of citrus notes of Sicilian orange, lemongrass, and lemon slices.  Followed by notes of jasmine, green tea, and Tahitian vanilla.

Cappuccino Coffee Cold Process Soap Recipe8 Argan Oil Recipes: Cappuccino Coffee Cold Process Soap Recipe

Now, this one is for all the coffee lovers out there as well as argan oil lovers.  For the coffee addicts like me, this cappuccino coffee cold process soap recipe uses real coffee.  Are you wondering how the coffee is added to this soap recipe?  Well, a portion of the water used to create the lye solution is replaced with coffee.  In addition, there are coffee grounds incorporated into the soap batter to give the soap exfoliation properties.  Finally, it’s topped with a dollop of “whipped cream” and finished off with whole coffee beans.  It is scented with the sweet and creamy Cappuccino Fragrance Oil.  Natures Garden’s Cappuccino Fragrance Oil is the strong and rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee with heavy cream and sweet sugar.  This is hands down my absolute favorite cold process soap recipe.

Orange Swirled CP Soap Recipe8 Argan Oil Recipes: Orange Swirled CP Soap Recipe

Next, the Orange Swirled CP Soap Recipe was inspired with an orange creamsickle fudge recipe from Inside Brew Crew Life.  This is a swirled soap recipe with orange slice embeds to top it off.  In addition, it is scented with the powerful Blood Orange Fragrance Oil.  This tangy orange scent smells AMAZING!  In addition, the scent holds up very well in cold process soap.  The soap itself has a wonderful, rich lathering property.  So, not only does it smell and look fabulous it is also a great bar of soap.  Finally, the cold process soap is topped off with a melt and pour soap embed.  This orange slice is made from mp soap and also coated with sugar to give a portion of the soap exfoliation properties.

Sugar Cookie Whipped Body Butter Recipe8 Argan Oil Recipes: Sugar Cookie Whipped Body Butter Recipe

The Sugar Cookie Whipped Body Butter Recipe is another great recipe that uses argan oil.  This is a body butter recipe that is perfect for dry winter skin.  Not only does it use argan oil, but it also uses moisturizing cocoa butter and shea butter.  We could all use a little extra moisture this time of year.  Not only does it feel amazing on the skin, but it also smells amazing.  This body butter smells of the aroma of Sugar Cookies Fragrance Oil.  This scent smells just like freshly baked cookies right from the oven.  So, create the aroma without the calories and use a body butter instead!

8 Argan Oil Recipes: Argan Soap RecipeArgan Soap Recipe

Who doesn’t love cold process soap?  Creating handmade cp soap can be both an artistic statement and great for your body.  This argan soap recipe will be just that.  It is a beautifully swirled cp soap recipe that uses Kulu Bay Fragrance Oil.  The colors are a perfect representation of both the crisp water and warm sandy shores.  Kulu Bay scent is both invigorating and crisp.  It is also a Natures Garden Original fragrance oil.  It definitely allowed us to create a cool bar of soap that packs that rich lather from the argan oil.  The argan oil cold process soap was created using an in the pot swirl technique.  You will need to move quickly when making this soap recipe.  However, the results are totally worth the extra effort.

Sour Watermelon Sugar Scrub Cubes Recipe8 Argan Oil Recipes: Sour Watermelon Sugar Scrub Cubes Recipe

So, we talked about the green tea sugar scrub, now let’s talk about a solid sugar scrub.  The Sour Watermelon Sugar Scrub Cubes Recipe is a solid sugar scrub that has become very popular with our clients.  Not only will this scrub recipe exfoliate your skin, but it also has melt and pour soap added.  This solid scrub is packaged in a clamshell container.  So, once created, you simply place a label right on the clamshell container.  Each cube is the perfect size for a single use sugar scrub.  This solid scrub uses the fruity Sour Watermelon Candy Fragrance Oil.  It smells just like the sweet watermelon candy.  Now, we know there is the addition of sugar in most scrubs, right?  This solid scrub is not only unique because it is solid it also includes poppy seeds for even more exfoliation.

8 Argan Oil Recipes: Mothers Day Bath Bomb RecipeMothers Day Bath Bomb Recipe

Next, we have the Mother’s Day Bath Bombs Recipe that was made to include argan oil.  These handmade bath fizzies are a wonderful Mother’s Day gift but are really great for any time of year.  These adorable bath bombs with argan oil also use the beautiful Happy Type Fragrance Oil.  Happy & Free fragrance oil is best described as a refreshing, flowery fragrance.  Also, the bath bombs have whole calendula flowers.  Not only are the flowers an adorable decorative touch, but they are also wonderful for the skin.  They help with problems such as burned, rashes, bruised or inflamed skin.  So, this bath bomb recipe is the perfect recipe.  In fact, calendula is also a great help to those with varicose veins. After a few weeks, the veins have been known to shrink due to calendula. It has also been known to help with acne problems and can help prevent dermatitis.

Aloe Body Cream Recipe8 Argan Oil Recipes: Aloe Body Cream Recipe

Finally, we have this aloe body cream recipe that contains argan oil.  Out of all of the body cream recipes I have created, this is my favorite.  I believe this is because of the added argan oil as well as the infusion of aloe powder.  This body cream is the perfect way to help heal your skin.  In addition, this aloe body cream uses Orchid Rain Fragrance Oil.  This spa like aroma is the one of a kind combination of fresh orchids, peony flowers, water lily, watercress, aloe vera, and crisp bamboo.  This aloe lotion recipe sinks into your skin perfectly.  Aloe is also high in antioxidants, vitamin C, and other minerals which allow the skin to heal faster.  As many of you know, aloe is often used on sunburned, or inflamed skin.  This is in part because aloe vera powder contains salicylates.  Salicylates are known to help relieve pain.

Other Ways to Use Argan Oil

Now, a couple of other ways to use argan oil that we haven’t talked about.  First, is in your handcrafted hair care recipes.  Argan oil is perfect for those with oily hair.  Since it is a lighter oil it will sink right into the hair follicle without leaving behind more excess oil.  In addition, since it is able to penetrate deep into the hair it will help to repair any damage. So, you can get the right level of moisture and shine exactly where you need it.  It is also great for your cuticles.  With clean, polish free nails, a drop of argan oil rubbed into your nails and cuticles will help moisturize and refresh your cuticle beds.

Learn a little bit more about argan oil and its benefits in your handcrafted bath and body recipes here.  While Natures Garden Candle and Soap Making Supplies carries argan oil for soap and cosmetics use only, there are many other ways food grade argan oil can be used.  For example, it can also be used when cooking.  In fact, argan oil is considered a staple food pantry item in Morocco.  While it is often heard to be used in cosmetic recipes like hair care products and skin care products in the United States, in Morocco, it is so much more.  Read more about using food grade argan oil in your food recipes at the Food Republic’s website.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use?What Type of Scrub Should I Use?

What type of scrub should I use? There are many different ways to create a homemade scrub. So, it all depends on what you are looking to exfoliate. In tough, damaged areas you may want a more exfoliating agent. But, you are going to want a gentle exfoliant for sensitive areas, like the face. Further, there are many different kinds of herbs that you can include in your scrub recipes to tailor the scrub to match your needs. For example, you may want to use poppy seeds or salt for a foot scrub for feet with dry, callused skin. If you have less dead skin on your feet, however, then you may want to use sugar or another herb. Plus, there are scrubs that are emulsified and scrubs that are not.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Emulsified vs Not Emulsified ScrubsWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Emulsified vs Not Emulsified Scrubs

First of all, there are two main types of body scrubs. One type is called an emulsified scrub. This uses an emulsifying ingredient that combines the oils with the other ingredients in the recipe. So, there are no oils seeping out of the recipe. However, there is another type that is not emulsified. While the oils and scrubbing ingredient are still mixed together, the oils aren’t connected to the rest of the recipe. So, you may have to mix the scrub again sometimes as the oils will seep out of the loose mixture and make it more difficult to grab all the ingredients.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Emulsified Homemade Salt ScrubWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Emulsified Homemade Salt Scrub

First, you can create some fantastic emulsified salt scrubs. The emulsified scrub blends the ingredients together to make sure that the oils and salt don’t separate. This will ensure that you don’t have oil collected on the top or the bottom of your salt mixture. Also, this scrub, due to the salt, is slightly more abrasive than sugar scrubs and can be used on areas of the body that have a lot of dry skin. So, anyone looking for a tough exfoliant will love this scrub. This scrub would create one of the best hand scrubs and a fantastic salt foot scrub! If you want a good salt scrub recipe, then the Margarita Salt Scrub Recipe would be perfect. This dead sea salt scrub recipe is amazing for exfoliation and is tough on dry, callused skin.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Emulsified Sugar ScrubWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Emulsified Sugar Scrub

Another great way to create an emulsified scrub is with sugar! Again, the recipe includes an emulsifying agent to keep all the ingredients together. The Emulsified Beet Sugar Scrub Recipe perfectly blends oils, sugar, and beetroot powder to create a perfect emulsified scrub. Our Watermelon Emulsified Sugar Scrub Recipe is another great recipe that combines cosmetic oils and white sugar. Another added benefit of creating an emulsified sugar scrub is that you can create layers like we did to create a watermelon appearance in the jar.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Un-emulsified ScrubsWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Not Emulsified Scrubs

Plus, you can create scrubs without an emulsifying agent. These scrubs have all the oils that nourish the skin and a strong exfoliator. The only difference is that all of these ingredients don’t contain an emulsifying agent. This means that even though everything is mixed, the oils aren’t bonded to the exfoliant. Our Citrus Peel Salt Scrub Recipe is a scrumptious salt scrub recipe with oils and powdered herbs that truly care for the skin. Also, the Himalayan Pink Salt Scrub Recipe combines lovely ingredients like nourishing oils and pink salt to create a fantastic scrub! Also, we have a more gentle scrub recipe, the Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe, that will care for your skin with lovely oils and feel less abrasive than a salt scrub.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Different Types of ExfoliantsWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Different Types of Exfoliants

While sugar and salt are some of the most common natural exfoliants, there are many other herbs that you can use in your scrub recipes. In fact, there are many herbs that can be used to exfoliate your skin. Another benefits of using these herbs is that there are all kinds of different levels of exfoliation. Some are tougher exfoliants than salt and others are more gentle than sugar. So, using some of the Herbs and Spices available on the NG site can provide you with a great range of option for your scrubs!

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Diy Body Coffee ScrubWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Diy Body Coffee Scrub

Another great ingredient for providing some scrubbing power to your recipes is real ground coffee. The coffee grounds provide light exfoliation that is great for a body scrub. One recipe that uses coffee as an exfoliant is our Coffee Butter Scrub Recipe. This homemade scrub combines luscious oils and butters with real coffee to create a magnificent scrub! The grounds provide a softer exfoliation than either sugar or salt. Plus, the grounds have an authentic coffee aroma that goes well on its own or blends perfectly with a coffee fragrance, like our Cafe Mocha Fragrance Oil.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Poppy Seed Scrub RecipeWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Poppy Seed Scrub Recipe

Also, you can use some poppy seeds in your homemade scrub recipe. Our Pampered Foot Scrub Recipe uses this cosmetic herb among other wonderful herbs and oils that will care for the skin. Since poppy seeds are hard and are great for exfoliating, we decided to create a foot recipe that will both defoliate as well as care for the skin.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Variations of Body ScrubsWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Variations of Body Scrubs

While these ingredients are not the main exfoliant in the scrub recipes, they are extremely useful when added to a scrub recipe! Some of these ingredients will add to the cleansing ability of the product, add a bit more gentle exfoliation to the exfoliant, or add skin nourishing vitamins and minerals to envelop the skin in luscious nourishment. If you want to learn about these ingredients, then check below for some of the herbs, butters, and oils that you can use in your own recipes.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Charcoal ScrubsWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Charcoal Scrubs

This herb adsorbs toxins and will pick up anything that is bad for the skin. Then, the activates charcoal will take these toxins away when it is wiped or rinsed off. So, you will have bright, beautiful skin that is clean and healthy.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use Diy Spa RecipesWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use Diy Spa Recipes

Another alternative type of scrub you can create is a foaming body scrub. These recipes include a foaming agent, SCI, that will provide your body scrub with a fun, foaming lather. Both the Foaming Body Scrub Recipe For Men Recipe and the Foaming Hibiscus Scrub Recipe contain this wonderful bath enhancing ingredient.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Solid Scrub Recipe

Another different way to create your own scrubs is a solid sugar soap scrub recipe! These recipes include melt and pour soap to create a cleansing scrub recipe that is perfect for the bath.  So, you can create a bath scrub like our Solid Sugar Scrub Recipe. This recipe cleans, exfoliates, and nourished the skin with oils. Additionally, you can create a solid salt scrub recipe, like our Solid Pink Salt Scrub Recipe, which uses a tougher exfoliant and is packaged in a clamshell container.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use?: How to Make Lip Scrub

If your lips are cracked, dry, and just begging for some exfoliation, then this is the perfect product to create. These sugary scrubs will gently remove your weathered, dead skin and reveal the vibrant lips hidden underneath. Plus, the sugar is a perfect way to naturally flavor your homemade lip care recipes. Further, the oils and butters included in these recipes will care for the newly emerged skin, This will keep your lips looking and feeling soft, healthy, and rejuvenated.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Diy Lip Scrub with Brown SugarWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Diy Lip Scrub with Brown Sugar

Brown sugar is a great exfoliant for your lips! This sugar is softer than white sugar but is still yummy and sweet. So, you can lightly exfoliate your lips to remove dry, damaged skin and have the added bonus of naturally sweetened lip balm. Our Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe and our Creme Brulee Lip Scrub Recipe are both delicious and perfect for lip care. Not only are these lip scrubs sweet and cute, but they contain ingredients that will nourish and care for the newly revealed skin.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use: Diy Lip Scrub with White SugarWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Diy Lip Scrub with White Sugar

Not only is sugar great for body scrubs, but it can be used in lip care products, too! This type of scrub is a bit more abrasive than brown sugar, so it is perfect for very dry lips with a bunch of dead skin. One quick and easy way to make a white sugar lip balm scrub is our Lip Scrub for Lip Balm Sticks Recipe. Also, our Natural Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe is just like our other recipe, but it adds an extra oil to care for the skin. Since these lip scrubs use a lip balm base it is very easy to create and could be a fun idea for mommy and me crafts!

What Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Homemade Scrubs for FaceWhat Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Homemade Scrubs for Face

Another great idea for homemade body scrubs is a recipe for a face scrub. If you create a face scrub recipe, then you need to make sure that you are aware of what shouldn’t be in it. Firstly, make sure that you don’t choose a tough exfoliant like salt. Instead, try brown sugar, Kaolin Clay, or lavender buds.  Also, be cautious with your scent. Since fragrance oils may irritate the skin, I would suggest choosing a fragrant herb or leaving it unscented. Also, be sure to include oils that won’t clog pores, like Argan Oil or Sweet Almond Oil.

What Type of Scrub Should I Use?: Why Use Natural Exfoliants?

Not only are these scrubs great for your body, but they are a better alternative for protecting the environment, too. Many commercial scrubs will use plastic beads instead of an exfoliating herb or mineral. While it may exfoliate, there are other products that work just as well, if not better, that won’t use plastic. So, buy more natural scrubs or make your own to protect our oceans. Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Clean and Sanitize Before Working

Before you begin creating your recipe, make sure that the area you will be working in is clean. This will help protect your product from contamination, which could ruin your recipe. Plus, this preparation strategy will prevent you from running into space issues as you are working. First, remove anything in your work area that isn’t necessary for your project. This will give you the space you need to finish this craft. Second, make sure everything is sanitized. Otherwise, you could end up with dirt or debris in your completed pink salt scrubs. So, the safest way to create this recipe is to be prepared first.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Setting out the Clamshell Containers

Another way to be prepared is to set out the packaging. Before you begin, retrieve the five clamshell containers you will use when creating this recipe. You will need these clamshells quickly after you whip up the entire mixture. So, it will be very helpful to have the packaging immediately available. Otherwise, your soap scrub may set up before you add it to the clamshell containers. While the recipe would still be okay to use after this point, it will be near impossible to get the mixture into the clamshell containers. Not getting the mix into the clamshell containers will hinder the appearance of your product, as you will not be able to add the pretty topping to the scrubs.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Preparing the SaltsPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Preparing the Sea Salts

Also, you want to get the salt ready before you melt the soap. Melt and pour soap will set up quickly, so it is best that you have everything ready. So, weighing the salts before will provide you with more time to work. Now, weigh out 40 grams of the Himalayan Pink Sea Salt Coarse Ground in one of your bowls and weigh out 315 grams of the Himalayan Pink Salt Fine Ground in another of your bowls. These will be set aside for later use. The finely ground pink salt will be used as the main exfoliant within this salt scrub mixture. This will help remove any dead skin. Also, the coarsely ground pink salt will be added to the top to provide both the lovely appearance and some extra exfoliation.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Preparing The Melt and Pour SoapPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Preparing The Melt and Pour Soap

Next, you will be melting the soap for this pink scrub recipe. So, cut up and weigh out 170 grams of Nature’s Garden’s Soya Milk Melt and Pour Soap. Add this soap to a microwave safe bowl. You will want to melt the soap in 30-second increments, stirring in between as it is melting. Stirring as you go will disperse the heat more evenly so the soap will not overheat as you are melting your soya milk soap. Once all the soap is in liquid form, then you can stop heating the soap. After it is melted, it is time to move on to the next step.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding All of the OilsPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding All of the Oils

Now, we are going to add the oils to your recipe. These are the oils that are either beneficial for your skin or scenting the scrub. So, take your melted soap and quickly add your oil ingredients. First, weigh out and add 20 grams of the NG Sun and Sand Type Fragrance Oil to the soap. Mix this into the soap well. Now, add 15 grams of the Coconut Oil 76, 57 grams of the Sunflower Oil, and 40 grams of the Sweet Almond Oil. Again, stir well to mix these ingredients into the melt and pour soap.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding the Himalayan Pink Sea SaltPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding the Himalayan Pink Sea Salt

Next, you are going to be adding the salts you have already weighed. Be sure to move quickly as you move to this step because your soap will begin setting up pretty fast. Now, pour in the Fine Ground Himalayan Pink Salt that you have already weighed into the soap and oil mixture. You will want to fold the salt into the mixture quickly. However, you want to make sure that the pink salt has been incorporated well enough so that everything seems evenly mixed together. You don’t want the melt and pour soap to set up, but you don’t want the mixture to be uneven in areas.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Packaging the Mixture and Adding the ToppingPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Packaging the Mixture and Adding the Topping

Now, you are ready to package up your mixture by filling your clamshell containers. Begin by spooning the mixture into the clamshell containers. Then, you will use your fingers to work the pink salt scrub into each of the six cavities. You will want to pack everything fairly tight. Also, make sure to leave a little bit of room on top so that you are able to close the clamshells after adding the coarse pink salt on top. You don’t need much room, but you shouldn’t overfill the clamshell containers. After each of your clamshells fully packed, you will be adding the coarse ground Himalayan pink salt to the tops. So, place about 9 grams of the coarse ground Himalayan pink salt onto the top of each clamshell. Make sure to spread this out evenly over the entire top of the filled clamshell containers.  Finally, press gently so that the coarse pink salt sinks in slightly and stays in place.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding the GlitterPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding the Glitter

Now, you will add the shimmer to the tops of your nearly finished bath scrubs. You will less than a gram of both the Diamond Mica Pigment and the 24K Gold Mica Pigment. You will only be giving the tops of your pink salt scrub a light dusting with a tiny amount of the shiny mica dust. While you can dust separately with each of your two mica pigments, we recommend mixing the mica dusts before dusting.  We have found that this provides a more even dusting that prevents the colors from looking separate on your finished products. So, you would mix together about a tiny bit of the diamond dust mica and a tiny bit of the 24K gold mica together for a pretty mica blend that is lovely and shimmery.

Next, you will be adding a light dusting to your recipe. You can either do this with your spoon or a shaker. If you do not have a shaker or have another way to dust your solid salt scrub, then you will be fine using a spoon when applying the mica. We chose to use a shaker to evenly coat the tops of the salt scrub with the mica mixture. Also, you can lightly shake a spoon of the mica powder over the scrubs to provide a dusting, as well. Any way that you choose to add the shimmery shine, just make sure the sparkles are as evenly applied as you can possibly get.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Finished CreationPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Finished Creation

Finally, your solid scrub recipe is complete!  After you have finished, these bath scrubs will be immediately ready to use! You can use these to wash and exfoliate your hands or you can use these in the bath for a whole body experience. Either way, this is a wonderful recipe that combines the clean fun of melt and pour soap with the care caring properties of a typical salt scrub. So, you are truly set with this bath and body recipe!
