Also, you will want to gather all of your craft making equipment that has been listed above as necessary for this tutorial. Once you have made these simple preparations, you are ready to move on to the next step in this crafting process.

Prepare the Aroma Beads For the Shimmering Air Freshener Tutorial

First of all, you are going to need to prepare the aroma beads for the shimmering air freshener tutorial. In total, you will need to have one pound of the unscented and uncolored aroma beads. Anyone that has purchased the one pound bag of aroma beads will know that it comes in a Ziploc bag. While the one pound portion of our aroma beads is already in a Ziploc bag, you will want to transfer the aroma beads to a larger Ziploc bag. The original bag is too small and you will have a hard time mixing in the mica, colorant, and fragrance oil. So, you will need to pour the entire pound of unscented aroma beads into a gallon Ziploc bag. This will give you room to mix together all of the other ingredients.

Add the Fragrance For the Shimmering Air Freshener TutorialAdd the Fragrance Oil to the Aroma Beads

Next, you are going to add Fragrance Oil to the aroma beads. So, you are going to need to weigh out 2 ounces of the NG Cancan Type Fragrance Oil into a small bowl. After you have that amount of scented oil measured out, you will need to add this fragrance oil to the aroma beads in your Ziploc bag. Then, you will need to seal the bag. Once your bag is completely sealed, you will want to use your hands to incorporate the scent. You can both shake and squeeze the bag to mix in the scent. You will want to continue to do this until the fragrance oil looks like it is evenly dispersed throughout aroma beads.

Further, it has hints of berry at the heart of the scent. Finally, a sensual blend of cashmere musk, golden amber and vanilla bean creates a romantic sweetness that surrounds the floral bouquet. So, you will be sure to enjoy the beautiful aroma of this fragrance oil in your homemade room scent recipe!

Adding Candle Colorant For the Shimmering Air Freshener TutorialAdding Candle Colorant to the Shimmering Air Freshener Tutorial

Now, you are going to be adding the candle colorant for this shimmering air freshener tutorial. So, you will need to add one drop of the burgundy liquid candle dye to your scented aroma beads. This will provide your aroma beads with a beautiful pink color in the final product. After adding the burgundy candle colorant, you are ready to move on to the next step in this air freshener making project.

Mix in the Candle Colorant For the Glistening Air Freshener TutorialMixing Candle Colorant into the Shimmering Air Freshener Project

After adding the burgundy liquid candle dye, you are going to begin mixing the candle colorant for the shimmering air freshener project. You are going to need to mix in the aroma bead dye into the scented beads thoroughlySo, you are going to need to seal up the bag and use your hands to work everything together. Once you have an even pinkish color throughout your scented aroma beads, then you are ready to move on to the next part of the process.

Measuring Mica For the Shimmering Air Freshener TutorialAdding the Mica to the Shimmering Air Freshener Tutorial

Next, you are going to add the diamond dust mica powder to your aroma bead mixture. So, you will need to use a measuring spoon to add in one tablespoon of Natures Garden’s diamond dust mica powder to add some shimmer and shine. Once you have added this glittery powder to your mixture, you are ready to move on to the next step in this process.

Mix in the Mica Powder For the Glistening Air Freshener TutorialMixing Diamond Dust Mica into the Shimmering Air Freshener Project

Again, you are going to need to mix everything together. This time you are going to be mixing the diamond dust mica into the shimmering air freshener project. So, seal the Ziploc bag completely and use your hands to mix. Then, you are going to want to either shake or squeeze the bag until all the glittery mica has been dispersed throughout the aroma bead mixture. Once you have an even shimmer on all of your aroma beads, you are ready for the next step in this process.

Allow the Aroma Beads Time To Absorb the Scented Oil

Now that everything is mixed together, you are going to need to let your aroma beads absorb the NG CanCan Type Fragrance Oil. For now, you will need to keep the Ziploc bag sealed. Then, just set the bag in a safe place to cure. You will need to wait about 24 hours to make sure that all of the scented oil has been absorbed by your aroma beads. If you don’t feel that everything has been absorbed at that point, then it may be a good idea for you to wait a bit longer to ensure that your air freshener recipe is ready to use.

After your aroma beads have fully absorbed all of the NG CanCan Type Fragrance Oil, you are ready to fill the jars. This room scenting project will create about six finished air fresheners. So, you will need six of these vented air freshener jars. Then, fill each of them with your pretty pink aroma beads. Once you have used all of your aroma beads to fill these jars, you are ready to move on to the next step in the process.

Add the Lids To Your Finished Air FreshenersAdd the Lids To Your Finished Air Fresheners

Once all of your air freshener jars have been filled , you are ready to finish up with the packaging process. Each one of your air freshener jars will have a clear plastic liner. You will want to add this fitment to prevent the aroma beads from spilling.  This is important if you are storing or shipping your shimmering air fresheners. Also, this liner lid will help hold in the scent until you are ready to use the air fresheners.  Finally, place a vented lid on top of each jar.

Use the Finished Product Of the Shimmering Air Freshener TutorialUse the Finished Product Of the Shimmering Air Freshener Tutorial

Of course, when you are ready to use your finished air freshener, all you need to do is remove the plastic fitment. Then, you will want to only replace the lid with holes. This will allow the scent to be released from the plastic jars. So, your homemade air freshener can fill your home with the lovely aroma of the NG Cancan Fragrance Oil from Natures Garden!

An Elegant Scent Inspired By a Scandalous Dance

The lovely NG Cancan Type Fragrance Oil has an aroma that is sensual and entirely feminine, which truly fits the name. While this dance had eventually become a mainstream part of French culture, it was initially regarded as obscene and scandalous. In fact, the dance was used to push back against the strict Victorian values put on women at the time. If you are curious about the origins of the Cancan and the movement this dance was a part of, then take a look at the article called A Brief History Of The Cancan, France’s Famously Raunchy Dance from Culture Trip!

Smelly Jelly Kit Prepare and Sanitize

Make sure that you have sanitized your work space for this project so you have enough room to work and simple mistakes will be easier to avoid. Additionally, you will want to have all of your supplies and ingredients nearby and easily accessible to avoid time sensitive mistakes. Make sure that you have all of the supplies needed for this kit cleaned and ready to use. Also, have all of the ingredients that are not included in your kit ready and nearby. While this recipe is fairly simple, you can be led to create an imperfect productive by using dirty utensils or leaving your half finished product to search for ingredients.

Smelly Jelly Kit Making Instructions

Once you complete the first step you will want to make sure that you work quickly. Since many of the ingredients will need to disperse evenly, they need to be added before the smelly jelly crystals absorb all the water. This is so you are able to mix your ingredients well before the crystals swell entirely and make it more difficult to mix. Otherwise, you may have some issues with your finished product, whether it be that the fragrance didn’t disperse or that the color is concentrated in only one area of the jar. Thus, we’d recommend that you read through all the directions to understand what you will be doing and make your process slightly faster.

We should also note, when cleaning up make sure you do not put any smelly jelly crystals down your drain.  You want to place any lingering crystals in your garbage can.  Smelly jellies can hold up to 400 times their weight in water.  While they are biodegradable, they can clog your drain just because of the amount of water they can absorb.  So, just use caution.  Should you accidentally get some in your drain, simply pour table salt down your drain.  This should help to unclog it.

Smelly Jelly Kit Hydrating the Smelly Jelly Crystals

Smelly Jelly Kit Hydrating the Smelly Jelly CrystalsThe first step is to add the warm water and the smelly jelly crystals to one of the jars. Initially, we are going to fill up one of the six smelly jelly jars with the smelly jelly crystals. Now, add two teaspoons of the smelly jelly crystals one of your jars. Next, take your scale and make sure the units are set the units to ounces. Set the jar of smelly jelly crystals on the scale and tare your scale. Now, weigh 10 ounces of warm distilled water into the smelly jelly jar.

Smelly Jelly Kit Adding Liquid Soap

Smelly Jelly Kit Adding Liquid SoapSecond, you are going to want to add some liquid soap to the mixture. So, add in a few drops of clear, unscented liquid dish soap. You want the soap to be clear to avoid altering the color of dye you will choose later on. Also, you want the soap to be unscented to prevent an undesirable scent blend with your chosen fragrance oil.

For those questioning why soap is added to a room scenting creation, know that there is a legitimate reason. Adding the liquid soap is done to help the fragrance oil adhere better to the smelly jelly crystals. While this may cause soap bubbles to form later, these should pop over time. However, I don’t recommend shaking your final product as it will create an abundance of soap bubbles. Plus, I have not found shaking assist in dispersing color or fragrance after the smelly jelly crystals have completely absorbed the water.

Smelly Jelly Kit Adding the Dye

Smelly Jelly Kit Adding the DyeNext, we are going to add the soap dye and the fragrance oil to the smelly jelly jars. While not all kits will be exactly the same, there is an order to the random chance of what you will receive. For colorants, you should receive two different pigments to color your creation from a pool of red, blue, or yellow. Also, you will receive four one ounce bottles of different fragrance oils. While the scents included change, they are guaranteed to all be the Natures Garden quality you know and love. Plus, who doesn’t love a little surprise now and again?

Smelly Jelly Kit Adding the Fragrance Oil

Smelly Jelly Kit Adding the Fragrance OilNow, make your creative choices and get ready to include the scent and color into your jars. Take your measuring spoons and weigh one and a half tablespoons of one of your provided fragrance oils. Next, take one of your provided dyes and add a few drops into the smelly jelly jar. Now, mix up your ingredients with a spoon to evenly disperse the color and fragrance oil.  It is important to mix the dye and scent before the smelly jelly crystals completely swell or you may have patchy and uneven distribution. While some further distribution may occur with some help from time and gravity, it’s not guaranteed that the distribution will be perfect after missing the correct timing.

Smelly Jelly Kit Letting the Crystals Swell

Finally, you are going to let your finished product sit undisturbed for about 15 minutes. This will allow the smell jelly crystals to absorb the remainder of the water, fragrance oil, and dye. If you notice a lighter portion on the side of the jar you can attempt to cap and turn the jar on its side. While this only has a chance of correcting the problem, the dye that hasn’t been absorbed could potentially sink to this patch and even things out.

Smelly Jelly Kit Creating the Remaining Smelly Jelly Jars

Smelly Jelly Kit Creating the Remaining Smelly Jelly JarsNext, you are going to repeat these steps with the five remaining smelly jelly jars. The steps will be the same for each jar with the only alterations being the color of dye or type of fragrance oil. I’d suggest that you do each jar separately to prevent uneven distribution due to the timing. If the smelly jelly crystals swell before you add the other ingredients, then it will be difficult or even impossible to evenly distribute the scent and color in your jar.

Smelly Jelly Kit Packaging and Using Your Product

Afterward, you are likely going to want to store some of your six finished smelly jelly jars. Now, you should take one of the white, flat circles and pop it into one of the gold lids. Since these lids have slits in them, you will require the white seal to help close the smelly jelly jar for storage. This method of sealing your jars should store the product well. Further, any smelly jelly jars that you are ready to use can be set up similarly. Simple remove the white seal from the jar and replace the lid. Since the lid has slits, replacing the gold lid will still allow you to use the smelly jelly jar.
