We have included the amounts of each ingredient we will be using. As a side note,  while we give you both weight and volume measurements, we highly recommend using a scale as the measurements will be more precise amounts.

  • 410 grams (2 cups) Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI)
  • 460 grams (2 cups) Sodium Bicarbonate- Baking Soda
  • 224 grams (2/3 cup) Cream of Tartar
  • 72 grams (2/3 cup) Corn Starch
  • 200 grams (2/3 cup) Vegetable Glycerin
  • 24 grams (2 TBSP) Pumpkin Seed Oil
  • 14 grams Harvest Moon Fragrance Oil
  • 20 drops Red Da bomb Soap Dye
  • 30 drops Yellow Da Bomb Soap Dye
  • 1 gram Activated Charcoal
  • 7 Pieces Cinnamon Sticks (1″ in length)

Before we get started on our bubble bars, let’s get familiar with some of the ingredients. Our first ingredient is Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate or SCI. SCI is derived from coconut. It is a foaming and cleansing agent that will leave your skin silky soft and smooth.

Our next ingredient is Sodium Bicarbonate or Baking Soda. This is is a natural alkaline that is used in cosmetic formulations and cleaning formulas to lift dirt, and remove oils. Using baking soda in your bathtub will leave your skin soft and silky feeling.  It also has the same effect on your hair when used in a rinse. Baking Soda is most often combined with Citric Acid when making bath bombs.

Because we are making pumpkins, we chose to incorporate some Pumpkin Seed Oil! Pumpkin Seed Oil is loaded with many nutrients, such as, Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, Vitamins E, A, and C.  It is also rich in the mineral, zinc. Pumpkin seed oil readily sinks into the skin; not leaving the skin feeling oily and can help to repair dry, damaged skin.

The fragrance we chose for these fall bubble bars, is our Harvest Moon fragrance oil. This fragrance is a fresh, crisp mix of blueberries, pineapple, eucalyptus with woodsy bass notes of spruce, fir and cedar. A complex mixture of scents that wouldn’t seem like they could go together. Very unique!

Before you get started on your bubble bars, it’s always best to take a few precautionary steps. Start by cleaning and sanitizing your work area thoroughly. Also, clean your utensils and equipment well. Make sure that you have a large enough work area and have all your ingredients and equipment handy. This will help your creating run smoothly without any interruptions. We also suggest that you were gloves, an apron, face mask and hair net while preparing this recipe.

Now that your prepared and everything is clean and sanitized, it is time to get started. Our first step will be prepping the dry ingredients. Take a deep mixing bowl, place it on your scale and tare out the weight. To the bowl, weigh in 410 grams Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, 460 grams of Baking Soda, 224 grams of Cream of Tartar and 72 grams of Corn Starch. Using your hands, go ahead and blend these ingredients well, breaking up any lumps you find in the mixture. Once all the dry ingredients are incorporated well, you can set this bowl aside for the time being.

Next, you will be prepping the wet ingredients. So take a small mixing bowl, place it on the scale and tare out the weight. To that mixing bowl, weigh in 200 grams of Vegetable Glycerin, 24 grams of Pumpkin Seed Oil and 14 grams of Harvest Moon fragrance oil. Give this a nice stir to mix the oils well. Once they are mixed nicely, you will then be adding this to the dry ingredients.

Now that your oils are mixed nicely, go ahead and add them to the bowl containing the dry ingredients. Using your gloved hands, mix these ingredients together completely. Continue to mix until you have a dough-like consistency. Note: If your dough is too dry and crumbles, you can add a little more vegetable glycerin. However, use with caution. Adding too much will make your dough too wet and it may not setup properly.

You will be decorating the bubble bars with a small amount of the dough that will be colored later. So, take a small bowl and place it on your scale. Tare out the weight and to the bowl, add 28 grams of the dough mix. You can set this aside for the time being.

Next, we are going to color the dough to its orange pumpkin shade! To your mixed dough, add 20 drops of red Da Bomb Soap Dye and 30 drops of yellow Da Bomb Soap Dye. Once again, using your gloved hands, mix the dyes into the dough until you have achieved a nice, pumpkin orange.

Next, you will be forming the dough into pumpkin shapes. Separate the dough into 7 even-sized portions and using your hands, form the portions into balls. Pack them tightly, just like if you were making a snowball. Make sure they are even and smooth with no cracks showing or they will not set up properly.

Now that you have your pumpkins shaped and packed tightly, you will need to make the stems. For this, you will need the cinnamon sticks. You will want seven pieces that are about 1 inch in length. So, cut your cinnamon sticks to this length.

Once you have completed cutting them, gently place one stick into the dough, pushing slightly. You want to make sure it is centered and secure. Set each one aside for the moment.

Now, that the pumpkins are made, you can now work on the reserved dough. Take the dough and weigh in 1 gram of Activated Charcoal. Work the charcoal into the dough with your hands until it is mixed in completely.

Next, we get to have some fun with the pumpkin’s faces!  You can decorate your pumpkin bubble bars with the charcoal dough. You can create faces or words with the dough. Simply pull off small amounts of the charcoal dough and press it into the pumpkins to create your pumpkins how you want them to look.

To help create a more realistic look, take a toothpick and create lines in each pumpkin, starting at the top and ending about half way down the pumpkin.

Get ready for a super cute bubble bar recipe! The Natures Garden Neapolitan Ice Cream Bubble Bars Recipe look and smell just like little scoops of Ice cream! Plus, each scoop has a little bit of each color, so you can immediately tell the flavor! Alternatively, you could do some dual color or single color scoops and package them together. Really, it is all up to you! Not only do these little scoops have the right look, but each color has the right scent! We used a vanilla scent, a chocolate scent, and a strawberry scent in each of the corresponding portions. So, these ice cream scoops smell as realistic as we can possibly get!

Since these are bath products, you really want to make sure that you aren’t accidentally including any dirt or debris. No one wants to soak with a dirty bubble bar! So, before you begin working make sure that everything is clean and ready for you to use! First, retrieve all of your equipment for this recipe. This includes things like the bowls, mixing utensils, and the ice cream scooper. So, make sure that all your equipment is clean. This will prevent any contaminants from getting into your bubble bars. Also, you will want to clean and sanitize your work area. Not only will this ensure that you have enough space to work, but you will make sure that you won’t pick up anything. For example, setting down a utensil on your work surface and using it later. So, this will further prevent potential contamination.

First, you are going to weigh out all of your dry ingredients. So, retrieve your large mixing bowl and your measuring device. While you can use measuring cups and a tablespoon to complete this recipe, we suggest using a gram scale. The scale will give you far more exact amounts that will prevent your recipe from being made incorrectly. After you have your measuring equipment, you can begin working with your dry ingredients. So, combine 410 grams of the Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, 460 grams of the Sodium Bicarbonate- Baking Soda, 224 grams of the Cream of Tartar, and 72 grams of Corn Starch. Also, you can see the volume amount above for those using measuring cups. After, make sure to break up any clumps that you find in the powder. You will want to use your hands to mix up and go through to find all the clumps.

Now, you are going to be working with your wet ingredients. So, take your bowl of dry ingredients and tare the weight on the scale. Alternatively, you could weigh these ingredients in a separate bowl before adding it to the dry ingredients. This could be helpful for those worried about pouring too much, as it could alter your recipe. After, add in 200 grams of the vegetable glycerin and 24 grams of the Fractionated Coconut Oil. Now, mix the wet and dry ingredients together. Be sure that you mix everything well and that it is all incorporated.

Further, you will want to check the consistency of the dough at this point. if it is too crumbly, you can add in more vegetable glycerin until you get the right consistency. This will be very important for those that used volume rather than weight, as this ingredient may be too thick to add the amount you needed from the measuring cup. However, you want to be careful not to add too much. If your dough gets too wet, then the ingredients will start to activate in the bowl. So, try to add just the right amount!

Next, you will be separating your mixture into three portions. Before you do, make sure that everything is mixed evenly. This will make sure that all the ingredients are going to be present in each bubble bar scoop. Then, you will need three small mixing bowls. Now, divide your mixture into three equal portions. Try to be as exact as possible, but it is okay if you just estimate the amounts for each bowl to contain 1/3 of your original mixture. While all of your bubble bar mixture should be out of the bowl, you will need this bowl again in a later step as you are scooping. For now, just set this large mixing bowl aside.

Then, we will be creating the chocolate ice cream portion. First, you are going to need one of your small bowls. This bowl will have 3 grams of the organic cocoa powder and 12 grams of vegetable glycerin added to it. After, mix these together to create a paste. Now, grab one of your third portions of your mixture. Add the cocoa powder paste to the bowl. Also, add in 5 grams of the Hot Cocoa Fragrance Oil. Make sure to mix this well with either your hands or a mixing spoon. As long as the color and fragrance are evenly mixed, it doesn’t matter which method you use to mix. Then, roll your chocolate portion into a ball and set it aside.

Also, we will be making the pink portion. Of course, this portion will become the strawberry ice cream part of your ice cream scoops! So, grab another of the unused dough portions in your medium mixing bowls. Now, add in a single gram of the FUN Neon Pink Soap Colorant to create a bright pink hue. Then, add in 5 grams of the scrumptious Strawberry Patch Fragrance Oil. Now, mix everything up well until it looks just like strawberry ice cream should! You should be certain that all the clumps of dye are mixed our and your have an even pink color. After you get everything mixed well, roll the mixture into a ball, set it back in the mixing bowl, and set it aside. for later use

Lastly, you will be creating the vanilla ice cream portion. So, grab your other small bowl. Add in 2 grams of the vanilla powder and 5 grams of the vegetable glycerin. Then, mix these ingredients into a paste. Now, take the last portion of your plain mixture. You will add your completed paste to this bowl. Also, mix the 5 grams of the French Vanilla New Improved Fragrance Oil and 5 grams of the Vanilla White Stabilizer together in your little bowl. Then, add this to your vanilla mixture. Finally, mix all of these ingredients together very well. Roll this into a ball and set aside for a moment.

After all your colors are created you will need to prepare them for scooping. So, retrieve your three balled up colors. Now, remember what Neapolitan ice cream looks like before you set them up. you will want the white color, or vanilla, in the center and the other two flavors on either side. Be sure to set them right next to each other and not on top of one another.

After, you are going to press down on the colors to flatten them. You want to completely flatten all your dough in the bowl. Also, be sure that they are touching a little as you flatten. It is okay to have some overlap as you go. Once you are done you should have three rows of color that are ready for scooping!

Next, you are going to be scooping out your bubble bars. So, grab your stainless steel ice cream scooper as it is time to scoop the dough. As you go you will want to make sure that you get a little bit of each color for every scoop. You want others to be able to recognize that these are Neapolitan Ice Cream Scoops by looking at just one bubble bar! So, you will not want to have too much of any color in your scoops.

Maybe you could even practice with some real Neapolitan ice cream before you begin this recipe. You know, to get the technique down in the most delicious way possible.

Finally, you are going to be finishing up your bubble bar scoops. So, take the dough that you just scooped and tightly press it into the mold. Doing this will make sure that the scooper is filled completely. Thus, you will certainly have a fully formed scoop. Otherwise, you could have empty spaces in your scoops or even have bubble bars that don’t look like real scoops. Nobody wants that! So, make sure your scoop is filled After, release your ice cream scoop on top of either the silicone mat or parchment paper. After, you will repeat this process until all of the dough has been used.

Now, you will be getting to the point where you can use your bubble bars! All you have to do now is wait. Leave the bubble bar scoops where they are until they are completely set up. If you are unsure of when they will be ready, then we can explain. You will know the bubble bars are set up when they are completely hard. This means that the bubble bars will no longer soft or squishy in any areas. Also, it may take up to a few days for them completely set up. While we can’t give an exact amount of time for completion, this will vary due to variations in humidity and climate. However, we can say that these little scoops will set up quicker than a larger bubble bar. After, your product will be ready to create an amazing bubble bath!

Once your bubble bars have hardened, you are ready to use your creations! Further, using these is super simple! All you have to do is run some warm water and crumble one of your ice cream scoops. Then, watch the bubble magic as your bathtub fills! Since this ice cream scoop is smaller, you may want to add a second scoop. This will provide more bubbles and really scent your bath. If you have ever wanted to take a bath in Neapolitan ice cream, then this is the next best thing! These cute little scoops look and smell just like the real ice cream!
