How Much Fragrance Do I Add?

How Much Fragrance Do I Add?How Much Fragrance Do I Add?

If you have ever asked yourself and been unsure how to answer the question “How much fragrance do I add to this cosmetic or candle making recipe?”, then this is the perfect craft blog for you! We at Natures Garden would like to help you learn about essential oil and fragrance oil usage rates. So, you can know exactly how to scent your own homemade candles and cosmetic recipes. Not only will we provide a bit more insight on both our recommendations and IFRA’s, but we will help you figure out how to calculate the amount of scent you need for your homemade craft recipes. So, let’s get started!

How Much Fragrance Oil Do I Add?: What is the Usage Rate Used for?

Simply, the usage rate for a scent tells you how much of a scent you can add to your homemade candle and soap recipes. The usage rate is given in the form of a percent, which tells you the percent of this aroma that can be used in your candle, soap, and cosmetic recipes. So, you would take the overall weight of your craft recipe and multiply it by the percent to determine the amount of scent that you can include.

How Much Fragrance Do I Add: NG Recommended Usage Rates

How Much Fragrance Do I Add: Where Do I Find the Usage Rate? How Much Fragrance Do I Add: Where Do I Find the NG Usage Rate?

For each fragrance oil we at Natures Garden have an NG Recommended Fragrance Usage chart. On the page of each fragrance oil, you can find a chart that provides you with the maximum amount of fragrance that we would suggest for various products. Once on the page for your scent, just scroll down and you will find the chart in the description.  Each fragrance oil will have its own chart.

How Much Fragrance Do I Add: IFRA Usage Rates

What Is IFRA?

If you have never heard of IFRA before, they are a globally recognized organization that manages the safe use of scented oils. These guidelines are based on assessments from the Research Institute For Fragrance Material (RIFM). So, they will determine the amount of a specific scented oil that can be added to a certain product. So, the limits given by IFRA on the certificates are the absolute maximum that you can use in a product and should not be surpassed. Of course, you don’t have to add their maximum amount on every occasion. You can add less than this amount. This is the maximum scent limit that you should never go over.

How Much Fragrance Do I Add: Where Do You Find the IFRA?Where Do You Find the IFRA Certificate?

You can find the IFRA data sheet for each one of our scented oils. Each Natures Garden fragrance oil page has a link to its individual IFRA Certificate. If you aren’t sure where to find this information sheet, then take a look at the picture to the left. The link that you are looking for is on the right side of the page beneath the “Add To Cart” button. If you click on the blue colored link that says ” Fragrance Oil IFRA Certificate”, then you will be shown the IFRA Certificate of Compliance with all the maximum usage rates for various products with that particular fragrance oil. This data sheet will pop up in front of the current page to either be reviewed or printed out.  Note: On our mobile site, you can find this information at the end of the description, right above the videos section.

How Much Fragrance Do I Add: How Do I Read an IFRA Sheet? How Do I Read an IFRA Certificate?

The IFRA sheet is broken down into eleven different categories. Each of these categories are based on different types of products.  So, you will first need to know the product that you intend to make. The products are separated into categories because they are used different ways either in room scents or on the body. Each category is listed with the maximum level of fragrance that can be added. However, if you below that list, then you will find a description for each of the categories that were listed above. You can use these category descriptions to find where product that you want to make would fit in. Once you have determined which category that you scented product falls into, scroll back up to find the usage rate for that category. This will be the maximum amount of this scent that you can add to your handcrafted recipes.

Example of Reading an IFRA Certificate

For instance, let’s say you wanted to create a face mask recipe with the Angelica Fragrance Oil. You would scroll down and look for this product in the descriptions. A facial recipe would fall under category 5, which you know this because it is in the description for this category. Then, you would need to go back and look at the amount for category 5. For this scented oil, the most that you can add to this cosmetic recipe is 6%. While you can add less than this amount, you can’t add any more than the 6% to your facial recipe.

Is There An IFRA Sheet For Essential Oils?

There sure is! For each individual essential oil you can find an IFRA Certificate in the same area of the description that you would find in the fragrance oil description.

How Much Fragrance Do I Add: Why Is the Natures Garden Usage Rate Different From IFRA?

If you already know about the IFRA sheets, then you may have notices that the Natures Garden recommendation may occasionally be different. This is because there are two things to consider when adding fragrance oil to your homemade soap and candle recipes. First, the IFRA sheet will provide you with a maximum amount of fragrance that you can comfortably add to you various craft recipes. This amount is the most scent that you are allowed to use in a recipe before it is too much. If there is more that this amount of fragrance, it could potentially irritate the skin.

Second, we at Natures Garden have a maximum amount of fragrance that we include in products to maintain integrity of the recipe. While you may be able to add more scent to your homemade craft recipes, it is possible to add to much fragrance. If you add too much fragrance oil to your recipe, then it may leak out of the product or cause other possible issues. So, we have a set maximum that we use for various products.

How Much Fragrance Do I Add: Adding More or Less Than 5% Fragrance Oil

So, can you add more than our recommend scent amounts without ruining your products? Technically, yes when the IFRA allows it. But, you will need to experiment to ensure that your products maintain their integrity. Remember that just because you can do something doesn’t mean that its a great idea. We find that adding more than 5% of fragrance oil, when IFRA allow for it is just too much fragrance oil in soap. So, we will never suggest that you use more than 5% of the fragrance in our homemade soap recipes.  On the other hand, there are some fragrance oils that have lower usage rates.  Below, we will talk about both scenarios.

How Much Fragrance Do I Add: Can I Add Above 5% Fragrance Oil?How Much Fragrance Do I Add: Can I Add Above 5% Fragrance Oil?

While we at Natures Garden never recommend that you use above 5%, but you will sometimes find that the IFRA will permit you to use more. For some, this difference can make it confusing as to what amount to use in their products. So, let’s look at a scent where the IFRA allows more than our suggested amount. According to the data sheet, you can technically add up to 15.2% of the Alpine Snowdrift Fragrance Oil to a homemade soap recipe. However, they do not take into consideration the quality of the product. Their recommendation simply means that you have the ability to add scent up to that amount without irritating the skin.

How Much Fragrance Do I Add: What If The IFRA Has No Restriction? How Much Fragrance Do I Add: What If The IFRA Has No Restriction?

Another difference between our recommendation and the data  sheet is when IFRA has no restriction for adding the scent to bath and body products. For example, the IFRA sheet says there is no restriction on the amount of McIntosh Apple Fragrance Oil that you can add to you products. However, it wouldn’t make sense to add 100% or 99% fragrance oil to your soap recipe. Think about it for a second. If you went to that extreme, you wouldn’t have a bar of soap.

https://www.naturesgardencandles.com/mcintosh-apple-fragrance-oilHow Much Fragrance Do I Add: Why Is The Usage Rate Below 5% for Fragrance?

Although our maximum usage rate for making soap is 5%, not all fragrances can be added at this high of an amount. If you check the IFRA sheet for this scented oil, you would find that category 9, which includes soap, and the carrot cake scent can only include up to 1%. While your homemade soap has the potential to carry more fragrance oil, you shouldn’t add any more than the 1% amount. This scent can only be included up to 1% according to the IFRA’s standards and anymore could irritate the skin. So, we provide a recommendation that is in compliance with IFRA at 1% usage rate for the carrot cake scent.

How Much Fragrance Do I Add: Need More Help With Percents?

If you aren’t necessarily math inclined, then you may benefit from practicing a bit more with percents. The Percentages in Real Life article from GCF Global will walk you through a few different situations that involved using percents. These real world situations use the same method as calculating the usage rate, so this practice will definitely help with craft making. Plus, you can use this knowledge to better navigate sales tax, markdowns in retail, and calculating a tip at a restaurant. So, you will definitely want to check this page out if you need the practice!

Mojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Clean and Prepare

Before you begin creating your homemade bath bombs you will want to prepare a bit to make this process as easy as possible. First, you will want to prepare your bath bomb equipment and collect the necessary ingredients. So, you will need to gather all of the listed supplies from above. Also, you will want to make sure that your bath bomb supplies and your work space is clean and sanitized. This will make sure that you are creating a clean, quality finished product. Now, you should be ready to get started on creating your homemade creations!

Mojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Preparing the Dry IngredientsMojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Preparing the Dry Ingredients

First, you will need to mix most of your dry ingredients together. So, take one of your two medium mixing bowls. (The other bowl can be left aside for now.) Then, you will need to add 300 grams of the Citric Acid, 182 grams of the Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, and 600 grams of Baking Soda to the bowl. Now, you will need to make sure that you mix these ingredients thoroughly. Be sure that you break up all the clumped powder as you combine your cosmetic ingredients. You may find that it is easiest to use a gloved hand to mix these ingredients. After, these powders are completely mixed you are ready to move on to the next step.

Mojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Preparing the Wet Ingredients

Next, you are going to be preparing the wet ingredients for this recipe. So, you will want to take your second bowl to add these wet ingredients together. You will need to combine 18 grams of Sweet Almond Oil and 18 grams of the Mojito Fragrance Oil into the bowl. Once these two ingredients are mixed together, you are ready to mix these ingredients together.

Mojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Mixing the Wet and Dry IngredientsMojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Mixing the Wet and Dry Ingredients

Now, you are going to add your dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. You will want to use your gloved hands again to mix these two bowls of ingredients together. You will want to continue to mix until all the ingredients are evenly mixed together. After these ingredients are mixed thoroughly, you are ready to add the wholesale cosmetic herbs and create the pretty design.

Mojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Adding the HerbMojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Adding the Herb

Next, you will be adding the wholesale herb to your bath bomb mixture. First, you are going to want to add in 5 grams of the Spearmint Leaf Cut and Sifted to your mixture. You will want to mix this refreshing cosmetic herb to the bath bomb mixture. Continue to mix until the herbs are completely incorporated. Again, you will want to use your hands to mix all of this herb into your bath fizzy mixture.

Mojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Separating the Mixture

Now, you are going to want to separate your bath bomb mixture into two equal portions. One of these portions will remain uncolored and the other will be made green. So, divide your mixture into two and put one of the medium mixing bowls aside for now.

Mojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Preparing the Green PortionMojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Preparing the Green Portion

Now, take one of your two divided portions of the bath bomb mixture. You are going to be adding colorant and an herb to this portion. First, you will want to add 9 grams of Kelly Green FUN Soap Colorant to this bowl. Also, you will want to add in the clay powder. So, mix in 5 grams of the French green clay powder. Now, you will want to use your gloved hands to mix in the color and herb. Make sure to thoroughly mix the color and break up any concentrated clumps. Once the mixture is an even green color without any speckles, you are ready to on to the next step.

Mojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Filling the Bath Bomb MoldMojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Spraying with Witch Hazel

Next, you are going to begin filling the wholesale bath bomb mold. So, take you first color and slowly spray your mixture with witch hazel. You will want to continue to spray the dough in your hands until it feels like crumbly dough. However, you will need to be careful not to spray the mixture too much. If you over spray your mixture, then you could potentially activate the ingredients. You will see that the ingredients are activated when the mixture foams a bit. This will mean that the ingredients in the bath bomb will not fizz as well when used in your bath tub.

Mojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Filling the Bath BombMojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Filling the Bath Bomb

After, you are going to use this crumbly dough to fill your bath bomb mold. Take one half of the bath bomb mold and use this dough to begin filling the mold. You can begin with either color, but we decided to start with the uncolored dough. Make sure that you press the dough firmly into the mold. This will be the first layer of your bath bomb. Next, you are going to use the second color to create the next layer.

Mojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Using the Second ColorMojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Using the Second Color

Next, you are going to work with your second color. In our case, this will be the green color. For you, it will be which even color you didn’t use first. So, take a small amount of this mixture in your hands and begin to spray it with witch hazel. Again, you will want to spray until your reach the same consistency as crumbly dough. But, you want to make sure that you don’t spray your dough too much, as adding too much liquid can ruin the bath bomb.

Mojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Adding the Second LayerMojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Adding the Second Layer

After you have achieved the right consistency, you are ready to add it to your bath bomb mold. So, add your second color on top of the first color. This will create a layered effect when you are finished. Make sure that you pack this layer in well to ensure that it sticks to the layer beneath it. Once this second layer is packed in tightly you are ready to move on to the next step for finishing up the bath bombs.

Mojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Continuing to Layer the Bath BombMojito Bath Bomb Recipe: Continuing to Layer the Bath Bomb

Now, you are going to continue to create these alternating green and white layers for your bath bombs. Once you fill up one side of the bath bomb mold, you can do the same thing with the other half of the mold. After you have completely filled up both sides of the bath bomb mold you are ready to combine the halves. Now, very lightly mist each side of the bath bomb. Again, be sure not to over spray your mixture. Then, you will need to press the two halves together tightly. Once the halves are stuck together, you can set it aside for now. Once this bath bomb is finished, you will need to repeat this process until you have used up all of your bath bomb mixtures. After you have created all the bath bombs that you can with your two mixtures, then you only have one more thing left to do!

Common Hot Process Soap QuestionsCommon Hot Process Soap Questions

Although hot process soap recipes have some things in common with the cold process soap recipes, there are a few new steps that can be confusing. So, we at Natures Garden felt it would be useful to answer some common hot process soap questions that our customers have asked us. This way we can equip you with all the soap making supplies and information that you need to make all kinds of wonderful homemade soaps!

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: What are the Hot Process Stages?

First, melt your oils and butters in a crock pot. Then, create your lye solution and add it to your crock pot. Use a stick blend to mix to trace and cover the crock pot. After about 15 minutes, stir the batter and replace the lip. Continue to stir every 15 minutes until the soap batter has the consistency of mashed potatoes. Then, place the soap in a mold and allow it to set up for 24 hours. After, remove from mold, cut, and allow it to cure for about 1-2 weeks. Although the bar may technically be safe to use, allowing it to cure will provide a harder, better quality bar of soap.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Can I Use the Pan or Crockpot I Used for Soapmaking for Food?Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Can I Use the Pan or Crockpot I Used for Soapmaking for Food?

No, you should never return your soaping equipment to the kitchen. So, make sure that you use a pan or crock pot that you aren’t overly fond of for your hot process soap recipes. Hopefully, you can find a pan or crock pot that is cheap or old to use for soap. Once anything in your kitchen is used for soapmaking, it should be moved into your soap making supplies permanently.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Do I Have to Use a Crock Pot for Hot Process Soap?

No, you don’t have to use a crock pot to be successful in making hot process soap. Many people like to use an old crock pot, but if you aren’t able to dedicate one to soap making it is okay to use something different. In fact, you can use a stove top and it works just as well. Honestly, your hot process soap will work just fine as long as your soap has a constant heat source.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: What Are The Hot Process Soap Benefits?

Since hot process soap has some similar steps to cold process soap, hp soap has many of the same benefits. Of course, for both methods, you can control all of the ingredients to avoid ingredient that may trigger allergies or irritate skin conditions. But, the biggest thing that sets the hp soap making method apart from the cold process soap is the cure time. Since hot process soap uses a heat source, like a crock pot or pan, that keeps the soap batter at higher temperatures. These higher temperatures will speed up the saponification process. So, your hot process soaps won’t need to cure as long as they would if they were made using the cp soap method.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Does Natures Garden Offer Hot Process Soap Recipes?

Natures Garden offers a few different recipes for hot process soap that you can choose between. We have regular hp soap recipes, laundry soap recipes, and even a beard soap recipe. So, there are a lot of fun ideas for making hot process soaps! You can find all of our recipes under Hot Process Soap Recipes on the Free Recipes and Classes page.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: When Do I Color Hot Process Soap?Common Hot Process Soap Questions: When Do I Color Hot Process Soap?

You will want to add your soap colorant after the batch is done cooking. So, mix in the coloring once the soap is a mashed potato consistency. Also, you can still do multiple colors with this method. Just split your cooked soap into different bowls and mix in color to each. Once the soap is colored, you can add more ingredients or scoop the soap to the mold.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: When Do I Add Fragrance to Hot Process Soap?

Again, you will want to add your fragrance oil after the soap has fully cooked and before you stick the soap in the mold. So, you can add your scent right after you add your colorant.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: How Long Do I Need to Cook Hot Process Soap?

The cooking time can vary depending on both the individual hot process soap recipe and the soaping ingredients used. Also, the crock pot or pan that you are using can affect the time, too. Some cases take about an hour and other instances may take a few hours. However, you can tell that your soap is done based on consistency. As your soap heats it will begin to get thicker, which you will notice as you are periodically checking the batter. At one point the soap batter will go through a gel phase, which gives a gel-like appearance. Right after this, the soap will get a mashed potato consistency. At this point, you are ready to scoop the soap into your soap mold.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Why is My Hot Process Soap Changing Color?Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Why is My Hot Process Soap Changing Color?

There are a few reasons why a soap would discolor. Most often, this kind of change is due to the vanillin content in a fragrance oil. This ingredient is what gives scented oils its vanilla notes. So, this type of discoloration can be minimized by using vanilla white color stabilizer. basically, all of the brown discoloration caused by vanillin and oxidation. Vanilla White Color Stabilizer will slow the oxidation of vanillin. However, there are many other ingredients in fragrance oils that can cause discoloration that we can’t reduce or control. This means that it is possible that this additive won’t solve discoloration if the vanillin content isn’t very high. You can find out whether a fragrance discolors and if its maintainable by looking in the description for that scented oil. Another reason that your soaps could change color is herbs, which can oxide over time. This will fade the initial color of the herb and likely become a dull color or change color.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Why Is My Hot Process Soap Separating In My Mold?

If your hp soap is separating in the soap mold, then it is a sign that the soap needed to cook longer. No need to rebatch. All you have to do is scoop the soap back into the crock pot or the pan and cook for a bit longer. It could also be caused by a recipe that wasn’t formulated properly or was not weighed out properly.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: How Long Do You Have to Wait to Use Hot Process Soap?

While hot process soap shortens the cure time, you still have a bit of waiting left to do. You will want to let your soap bars set for about 1-2 weeks, depending on your batch this could vary.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Why Is My Hot Process Soap Cracking?

Overheating can cause your hot process soap to crack in some places or develop strange patterns. Occasionally, it will just be a simple crack in the soap and other times you can end up with soap with peaks and craters. Sometimes soap can even get an appearance referred to as alien brains, which is kind of looks like a brain pattern.  Also, certain ingredients can lead to an increase in heating, like additives with natural sugars. So, you are more likely to overheat with milk, wine, honey, or fruit and veggie purees. Not only can these ingredients heat you soap, but they have the potential to cause a volcano effect in your soap. So, be sure to use caution for those ingredients with sugars.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Does Natures Garden Offer Any Hot Process Soap Recipes with Shea Butter?Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Does Natures Garden Offer Any Hot Process Soap Recipes with Shea Butter?

Yes, we do! We have quite a few free soap recipes for hot process soap, which includes the Beard Soap Recipe, the Game On HP Soap Recipe, and the Apricotie Hottie Soap Recipe. If you would like to see more of these types of soap-making recipes, then you can check out our Free Recipes and Classes page under the Hot Process Soap Recipes section.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Why is My Hot Process Soap Hard and Crumbly?

If you have soap that is too hard and crumbly, then stick around to learn about why your hot process soap would be this way and how you can fix it. Also, anyone that wants to learn how to make their hot process soap more fluid may want to start here. First, your soap batter could be over cooked, which makes the soap dry and hard. Alternatively, the recipe could contain too many hard oils, which could be saved by re-batching with more soft oils. Or, it could be that you didn’t add enough water. Also, it could be that an ingredient was forgotten or the recipe wasn’t formulated correctly. Another possibility is that there is too much of a soap additive, like sodium lactate, that increased the hardness too much. Often, you can simply fix the mistake and rebatch your soap.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: How Do I Rebatch Hot Process Soap?

Have you ever wondered can you melt a bar of soap and remold? It can be tempting to just scrap a failed batch of soap and start over. If you feel the same, then you will definitely want to hear about rebatching soap. Whether you forgot an ingredient, a hot process soap rebatch is a great idea for you to try. Plus, rebatching your old soap is a fairly simple process. First, grate your old soap and put these pieces in a crock pot. Then, you will need to melt this down with water and whatever you wanted to include in these soaps. If you want a more detailed set of instructions, then you can look at a previous blog on How to Rebatch soap.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Why Is My Hot Process Soap Soft and Crumbly?

Also, there are a few reasons why your soap could turn out soft and crumbly. One reason could be that you have too many soft oils and need more hard oils added to the recipe. Also, it could be an issue of not having enough lye for the amount of liquid added. So, it is possible that you may need to formulate the recipe again, which can be made easier with the help of SoapCalc. If your recipe is fine, then you may just need to cook your soap a bit longer. Another option is that you could’ve accidentally added a soap ingredient twice. While you may have a missing ingredient or need to add some different ingredients, it is okay because you should be able to rebatch and save the soap.

Common Hot Process Soap Questions: Why Is My Hot Process Soap So Soft? I Did Everything Right and It Is Still Soft.

When you first unmold and cut your hp soap, it may be softer than you like. It is common to be a little soft initially for hot process soaps. However, the soap will harden as it cures. Although the soap is safe to use, the bars after about a week, they may still be too soft. For hard soaps, we suggest allowing your soap to cure for 3-4 weeks.

My Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: Class & Sass Fragrance OilMy Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: Class & Sass Fragrance Oil

Next, we have the timelessly feminine aroma of the Class & Sass Fragrance Oil. This scent is both classy and sassy at the same time and I absolutely love it! This aroma was inspired by the marvelous scent of Coco Channel’s Chanel No. 5 perfume. This aroma starts with notes of fresh floral ylang ylang, sweet rose petals, and French jasmine top notes. Then, the middle notes are of vetiver and sandalwood. Then, the aroma finishes with a woodsy bottom that ties the entire fragrance together. Such a gorgeous scent that can be used for any occasion, because there is never a time that you could smell too good!

My Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: Cocktails by the Pool Fragrance OilMy Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: Cocktails by the Pool Fragrance Oil

Also, I like to use the Cocktails by the Pool Fragrance Oil in many of my lotion recipes. This fresh, fruity scent is another fragrance that is perfect for summer! The aroma was inspired by the scent of Bath and Body Works’ gorgeous Sunset by the Pool aroma. This fragrance at NG has notes of sparkling fruits, gorgeous and soft florals, sandalwood, and vanilla. This scent is such a perfect blend for a tropical summer fragrance oil that I just had to include it in my lotion bar supplies for this year!

My Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: Daisy Type Fragrance Oil My Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: Daisy Type Fragrance Oil

Another great scented oil for lotion making is the Daisy Type Fragrance Oil. This delightful floral aroma was created to match the scent of Marc Jacob’s Daisy perfume. Our rendition of this fragrance starts with tangy lemon and jasmine notes that are followed by middle notes of muguet lily, rose petals, African violet, and daylily. These layers are both sitting on a base of cedarwood, patchouli, and musk. This blend of gorgeous aromas creates a fragrance that is light and beautiful. This is perfect for creating a light scented lotion that leaves you smelling delightfully feminine.

My Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: NG Viva La Juicee Fragrance OilMy Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: NG Viva La Juicee Fragrance Oil

Next, we have the vibrant and fruity scent of NG Viva La Juicee Fragrance Oil. This fragrance oil was inspired by the aroma of Juicy Couture’s Viva la Juicy fragrance. The scented oil has a tantalizing blend of juicy wild berry and mandarin that are wrapped in the floral notes of summer gardenia, pink jasmine and bright honeysuckle, which is enhanced by vanilla praline, soft woods and amber base notes. This fragrance oil is a bright, fruity scent that is perfect for fun lotion recipes that will care for your skin and make you smell fantastic!

My Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: Black Raspberry Vanilla Fragrance OilMy Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: Black Raspberry Vanilla Fragrance Oil

Also, Black Raspberry Vanilla Fragrance Oil is another fantastic scent for creating lotion recipes. In fact, the first time I used this scent was in the Black Raspberry Vanilla Body Butter Recipe and it was such a delightful scent! This aroma was based on the scent of Bath and Body Work’s Black Raspberry Vanilla and NG made such a wonderful dupe. The blend of blackberries, raspberries, white floral, musk and vanilla creates a scent that is simply irresistible. This is one of my go to scents for daily lotion recipes and I just love it all year round.

My Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: NG Early Sunrise Type Fragrance OilMy Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: NG Early Sunrise Type Fragrance Oil

Plus, you can use the bright citrus scent of the NG Early Sunrise Type Fragrance Oil. This delightful scent was based on Yankee’s Early Sunrise candle scent. This aroma has fresh notes of  lemon, grapefruit, clementine, green floral notes, and amber woods that blend together to create a very uplifting aroma. This fragrance oil is perfect for creating a bright citrus hand cream for on the go. I like to throw a container of sunrise scented cream in my purse. This is perfect for when my hands get a little dry or I could use a scent pick-me-up throughout the day.

My Favorite Fragrance Oils for Lotion: How to Make Perfume Last

While you may think that wearing both lotion and perfume would just be too much, they can actually be used to compliment one another. I had assumed that using both would make the scent too strong, but I was so wrong in thinking that. In fact, combining perfume and lotion will make your scent last even longer than either would last alone! If you are curious on how to do this, then check out an amazing article by Style Caster called How to Layer Lotion and Perfume Without Overdoing It. Here you will learn a few tricks about smelling great and making your scent last longer!
