Powdered Stevia Sweetener

Description

Stevia Powder

All Natural Stevia Extract Powder with Maltodextrin sweetener.  Packaged in portion-sized sugar sized packets to ensure prevention of any type of contamination.  Gluten Free.

Sweetening your lip balm:  Natures Garden has tested numerous sweeteners for lip balms.  We have found that a powdered stevia extract with maltodextrin works the best.  Simply add a very small amount of powdered stevia with maltodextrin to your flavoring, and add to your melted lip balm base. The maltodextrin was added to the stevia extract powder to help the sweetener flow better in lip balm or edible products; reducing the gritty feeling that you experience with plain stevia extract powder.  Maltodextrin is a food grade product made from the sugars of grain.  Both stevia and maltodextrin are all natural products.

*Note:  Since stevia is a natural plant material, it will have polarity (water loving characteristics).  Anytime you add a polar product to non-polar product (lip balm base made with 100% oil loving characteristics), the products will not dissolve; only disperse.  The addition of maltodextrin allows the stevia to disperse better in lip balm bases, but it will not completely dissolve.*

A little goes a long way

Reviewer: A viewer from Akron, OH US 10/20/10

I used this in the lip balm base. The lip balm page does explain that this disperses instead of disolve and thats true but its still great! A great price on a great product that works well! Even though it looked like it might be gritty in the final product it wasnt.

Really bummed

Reviewer: A viewer from Virginia Beach, VA USA 11/13/14

I was excited to make my first batch of lipgloss and I do not taste even the tiniest bit of sweetness. I'm disappointed in this product.

It's okay

Reviewer: A viewer from Lake Stevens, WA US 12/23/10

I made a few tubs of lip balm earlier with the Stevia. It did look like it would be gritty, but it wasn't. One problem I seemed to have was that the Stevia settled at the bottom and didn't flavour the lip balm much. I could have made a mistake when mixing it, though. It also seemed to crystallize around the sides, but a little bit of scraping did the trick for that.

Did not work well

Reviewer: A viewer from Des Moines, IA US 08/10/13

Like the other reviews this did not work for us either. It clumped at the bottom, and it did not sweeten the lip balm.

HORRIBLE!

Reviewer: A viewer from North Carolina 05/28/15

Do not purchase this stuff! It will leave your lip balm VERY gritty, no matter what you do. I even tried crushing it with a spoon in a bowl to make it more of a powder. Still no good. Save yourself some time and money and do not purchase this!

Reviewer: A viewer from el paso tx 02/04/15

I was very disappointed with this item!! it did not sweeten and the more I put the gritty it got at the bottom. waste of money for lip balm was great for bar soaps I like using sugar to leave a sweet taste on skin.. so I guess it wasn't a total waste

Kind of Bummed

Reviewer: A viewer from Selma, CA US 12/30/12

I love the actual balm itself but for the life of me I could not get a good sweetened flavor and I followed the directions. I almost have to say it is just scented and not flavored. I was a little disappointed in it...

Not sure how I feel about this product

Reviewer: A viewer from WINNFIELD, LA US 03/03/12

The previous reviews are correct, it does seem to settle on the bottom of my balm mixture instead of blending, but so far I haven't noticed any grittiness in my finished balms. That being said, I wish there were more exact instructions included, such as the amount to use in relation to your balm base/mixture. So far I have not been able to find an amount that I am comfortable with using to really bring out the flavoring for fear of adding too much.
