Other Ingredients & Equipment You'll Need:
16 oz. Glass Apothecary Jar
Stainless Steel Measuring Cups
Stainless Steel Measuring Spoons
Gallon Sized Ziplock Bag
Hot Glue Gun
Step 1: Prepare Your Sand: You will be using granulated pillar of bliss wax to simulate the look of sand in this candle. Measure out 1 1/2 cups of palm wax, and place it in a gallon sized ziplock bag. Using a toothpick, dip the toothpick tip into brown candle dye. This will allow you to get just enough brown dye to color the wax a sand color. Dip toothpick into the pillar of bliss wax. Shake ziplock bag and mix color into your wax.
Step 2: Prepare Your Wicks: Using a hot glue gun, hot glue the bottom tabs of 2 CD-12 wicks and attach to the bottom of your glass apothecary jar equally spaced apart.
Step 3: Pour 3/4 of the sand mixture into your jar and make sure it is level. Keep the other 1/4 mixture of sand for the top of your candle.
Step 4: Prepare Your Sea: Using the double boiler method, melt approximately 16 oz. of joy wax until it is about 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Using a toothpick, dip the toothpick tip into blue candle dye. This will allow you to get just enough blue dye to color the joy wax a sea color. Mix thoroughly. Add 1 oz. Copper Hue Suntan Lotion Fragrance Oil and mix.
Step 5: Pour 4 oz. of the melted joy wax mixture slowly over the sand layer in the jar. You will need to make sure that your wax is not too hot or else it will melt the pillar of bliss wax sand layer in the jar. Also, be sure that you do not pour the mixture all in one place in the jar. Allow this layer to set up. Set the rest of this wax mixture aside.
Step 6: Prepare your seashell decorations: Melt 1 oz. joy wax + 1 oz. pillar of bliss wax. Using a toothpick, dip the toothpick tip into blue candle dye. Dip toothpick into melted wax until you achieve a blue color that is darker in color than the color of your sea. Pour wax into small shell embed molds. Place into freezer so that they will release easily from mold.
Step 7: Remelt the sea colored joy wax mixture that you had set aside. Slowly pour wax over the first sea layer of the candle. Straighten your wicks when necessary, and allow candle to completely set up at room temperature.
Step 8: Sprinkle the remaining sand wax mixture on top of set up sea layer; creating the appearance of the sand on the beach.
Step 9: Decorate: Strategically place the small shell embeds on top of the sand layer. Add decals to the outside of your apothecary jar.
