Independence Day Soap Recipe: Clean and Prepare

Before you begin creating your melt and pour soap recipe, you should make sure that your equipment and work area are ready to use. So, clean off a surface to work on and make sure you have a clean microwave available. Then, gather your equipment and supplies to ensure that you have everything you’ll need. Also, you will want to make sure that your equipment has been cleaned and is ready to use. This will make sure that your crafting goes as smoothly as possible, which will make it more fun, too!

First, you are going to be creating the white layer for your soaps. So, weigh out 285 grams of the Soya Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base and melt it. Make sure to use thirty second intervals in the microwave. Once your soap is liquid, you can add in 12 grams of the Independence Fragrance Oil. Stir the mixture well to incorporate the scent fully into the soap base.

Independence Day Soap Recipe: Pouring the White Layer

Next, you are going to pour the scented soap into your soap mold. Once all of this mixture has been added to your square loaf mold, you will need to release any trapped air bubbles. So, take your bottle of rubbing alcohol and lightly spray the top of this layer. Make sure that you allow this layer to completely set up before moving on to the next step. Otherwise, you may pour your soap too soon and cause the color of your layers to mix.

Independence Day Soap Recipe: Total Amounts for Second Layer

285 grams Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap
12 grams Independent Fragrance Oil
3 drops Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant

Independence Day Soap Recipe: Preparing a Red LayerIndependence Day Soap Recipe: Preparing a Red Layer

Independence Day Soap Recipe: Coloring the Red Sprinkles Independence Day Soap Recipe: Coloring the Red Sprinkles

This process will be almost exactly the same as the blue sprinkles, but this one uses 3 drops of the Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant instead of the blue soap colorant. So, combine the Epsom salt, soap colorant, and fragrance in a ziplock bag. Just like before, you will need to mix everything in the bag to incorporate the color and scent oil. Once you are done, you will have both the red and blue colored salt to sprinkle on your soaps! Since we don’t have the topping on yet, you can just set both colors aside to use later.

Independence Day Soap Recipe: Total Amounts for the Red Star Embeds

40 grams Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap
1 drop Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant
2 grams Independent Fragrance Oil

Next, we are going to prepare our star embeds for the top of our melt and pour soap. Weigh and melt 40 grams of Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap. Then, add in a drop of Tomato Red Soap Colorant and 2 grams of fragrance. Mix well and pour this soap into the star shaped embed mold. Make sure to spray the top with rubbing alcohol to release air bubbles. While you are waiting for these soaps to completely set up before removing them, you can move on to the next step.

Independence Day Soap Recipe: Total Weight for the Blue Curls

70 grams Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap
3 grams Independent Fragrance Oil
3 grams Vegetable Glycerin
2 drops Ultramarine Blue FUN Soap Colorant

Independence Day Soap Recipe: Preparing the Blue Curls

Before creating the soap, you will want to line a cookie sheet with wax paper. Then, you can melt 70 grams of Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap in the microwave using thirty second intervals. Afterward, add 3 grams of your fragrance oil and 2 drops of the Ultramarine Blue FUN Soap Colorant. Also, add 3 grams of Vegetable Glycerin to make the soap more flexible. Once you stir in blend everything together, pour the soap onto the cookie sheet. Allow the soap to completely set up before trying to cut out strips.

Now, you are going to use a knife to cut strips out of the soap. You want strips that are about a quarter inch wide and approximately four or five inches long. Once your strip is cut, wind them into a spring-like shape.

Independence Day Soap Recipe: Total Weight for Whipped Soap Topping

Since your fourth layer should be set up by now, you are ready to create your whipped soap topping. So, weigh out 150 grams of Whipped Soap Base, 15 grams of Independent Fragrance Oil, and 15 grams of Vegetable Glycerin. Next, whip these ingredients together using a hand mixer. Once you reach a whipped cream consistency, then you can set this mixture aside momentarily.

Independence Day Soap Recipe: Adding the Melt and Pour SoapIndependence Day Soap Recipe: Adding the Melt and Pour Soap

Now, you are going to need to prepare the melt and pour soap for your whipped topping. Weigh out 150 grams of the Soya Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base in a separate bowl. Then, melt the soap in the microwave using thirty second intervals. Once your soap is melted you are going to add it to your whipped soap mixture. But, make sure you are ready to move quickly after this point. After adding the mp soap, use your hand mixer to get the mixture to a frosting consistency.

Independence Day Soap Recipe: Adding the Whipped Soap Topping

Finally, you are ready to add your whipped topping to your soap loaf. First, lightly spray the top of your layered soap with rubbing alcohol. Then, you can begin to add your whipped soap topping to your soap. Make sure to move quickly enough that your soap doesn’t set up before it is added to the top. Once the top of your soap is covered, you are ready to decorate!

Independence Day Soap Recipe: Decorating the Top of Your SoapIndependence Day Soap Recipe: Decorating the Top of Your Soap

Lastly, you are ready to decorate the top of your soap. You will want to sprinkle both your red and blue Epsom salt sprinkles over the top of your soap. Also, add your embed starts and blue curls. We chose to add two blue curls on either side of each red star, but you can decorate them in a different way if you’d like. After you have your soap decorated and the whipped topping has set up, you can remove your soap from the mold and begin cutting it into bars.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Sanitize and Prepare

Before you begin creating your soap, you will want to make sure that your equipment and work space are ready. So, clean off and sanitize a table or counter top that you can work on. Also, make sure that your equipment, including your microwave, is clean and ready to use. Another important preparation of Melt and Pour Soap is getting the spray bottle of rubbing alcohol ready to use. Finally, we would suggest that you wear gloves, protective clothing, and a hair net while preparing this recipe.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Graham Cracker Crust LayerPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Graham Cracker Crust Layer

First, we are going to create the Graham Cracker Crust Layer for our melt and pour soap. This will be the first layer that we will pour and it will be the bottom layer of our pistachio pudding soap. Also, you will want to get your soap mold ready before we begin melting this first layer. This way your soap won’t set up before you can get the mold ready.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Crust Layer’s Weights and Amounts

93 grams Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap
4 grams Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil
4 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer
6 drops Yellow Oxide FUN Soap Colorant
2 drops Brown Oxide FUN Soap Colorant

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Melting the Ingredients

Now, you are going to need to weigh the 95 grams of cocoa butter melt and pour soap base. Once you have your soap ready, you are going to use the microwave to melt you soap using 30 second intervals. You will need to check and stir to ensure that your soap doesn’t boil. Once your soap is in a liquid state you are ready to move on to the next step.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Adding the Fragrance Oil

After your soap has melted you are going to add the scented oil. So, weigh and mix in the 4 grams of Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil. Also, you will need to add 4 grams of the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer. This is because the fragrance oil may cause some discoloration in your soaps. So, we will use some color stabilizer to make sure that our soap stays looking bright and scrumptious. Once they are both added you will need to mix until they are fully incorporated.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Finishing the First LayerPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Finishing the First Layer

Next, we are going to add the FUN Soap Colorants to the melted soap. For this layer you are going to need 6 drops of the Yellow Oxide FUN Soap Colorant and 2 drops of the Brown Soap Colorant to create the perfect graham cracker crust color. Once these pigments are fully mixed, then you are ready to pour this layer into the square soap mold. Also, remember to spray with rubbing alcohol after this layer has been poured. Once the crust layer has completely set up you are ready to work on creating the next layer.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: White Cream Cheese Layer

The Cream Cheese Layer is going to be the second portion you will need to create and pour. While this layer won’t have any color added, the rest of this layer will the same as the bottom crust layer. So, this next layer will be the same size and scent as the previous layer we created.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: White Layer’s Weights and Amounts

93 grams Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap
4 grams Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil
4 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Melting Your Soap

Next, you are going to heat the 93 grams of melt and pour soap. Again, you will want to use the microwave in 30 second intervals. Remember to mix your melting soap, which will help prevent boiling. After your soap base is melted, you are ready to add the scent and color stabilizer.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Scenting Your SoapPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Scenting Your Soap

Now that your soap is melted you are ready to add the fragrance oil! So, take 4 grams of the Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil and stir it into your melted soap. Also, you will need to include 4 grams of the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer to ensure that this layer stays uncolored. Otherwise, you could have some discoloration due to the Vanillin in this fragrance. Since this layer is meant to be a cream cheese color, it won’t look right if the fragrance discolors the soap.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Pouring the Soap

Then, you are going to pour the second layer into your square soap mold. Since you waited to mix this layer until the first layer has set up, you should be ready to pour this layer. First, lightly spray your crust layer with rubbing alcohol. This will help your layers stick to one another. Now you can pour this into the mold and lightly spray the top of this layer with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles. Before moving on to the next step, allow this layer time to set up completely.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Green Pistachio LayerPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Green Pistachio Layer

Next, we are going to be creating the pistachio layer. This vivid green layer will be the same size as the other two layers, but it will be a different color and use a different kind of melt and pour soap base. But, this portion will be created using a similar process as before.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Green Layer’s Weights and Amounts

93 grams Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap
4 grams Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil
4 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer
2 drops Neon Green FUN Soap Colorant

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Melting the Soap

Similarly, you are going to need to melt 93 grams of melt and pour soap. However, this layer will use Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap instead of the white soap base we have used before. This will provide a brighter appearance for the pistachio layer. Also, you will still need to melt this soap using 30 second intervals in the microwave and stirring between heating periods.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Adding the Fragrance OilPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Adding the Fragrance Oil

Next, we are going to be scenting the third layer of the dessert soap recipe. So, add 4 grams Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil to your freshly melted soap. Also, we will need to include 4 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer because this fragrance oil has a slight discoloration. If we didn’t use a color stabilizer, then the soap may appear more dull or even slightly brown. While this wouldn’t hurt the cleanliness of the bar, it could make it look less like pistachio pudding.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Coloring and Pouring the Soap

Now you are going to be coloring your liquid soap. So, put two drops of the Neon Green FUN Soap Colorant into the soap. You will want to mix well to blend in the ingredients from the previous step. Once it looks like everything is evenly dispersed, you will need to pour this soap into your soap mold. Just remember to spray with rubbing alcohol before and after you pour this layer to make sure your layers stay together and to release air bubbles.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Whipped Topping LayerPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Whipped Topping Layer

Lastly, we are going to be creating and adding the topping to our pistachio pudding soap! This will include both the whipped cream fluffy and the toasted, sliced almonds. The whipped cream topping will be made with a whipped soap base. Also, we will use citrus peel herbs to stand in for the sliced almonds.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Whipped Topping Layer’s Weights and Amounts

46 grams Whipped Soap Base
4 grams Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil
46 grams Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base
4 grams Vegetable Glycerin
4 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Scenting the Whipped Soap BasePistachio Soap Making Recipe: Scenting the Whipped Soap Base

First, you are going to need to measure 46 grams of the Whipped Soap Base into a large mixing bowl. Then, you will need to add in both 4 grams Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil and 4 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Fluffing the Whipped Soap BasePistachio Soap Making Recipe: Fluffing the Whipped Soap Base

After the soap base has been scented, you are going to want to use a hand mixer to fluff your whipped soap base. This will serve to incorporate the scented oil, color stabilizer, and 4 grams Vegetable Glycerin to create a better texture for the top of your dessert soap. Once you mix everything together well, you can move on to the next step.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Adding the Melt and Pour SoapPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Adding the Melt and Pour Soap

Next, you are going to be adding the melt and pour soap base to your whipped soap. So, measure out 46 grams Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base. Now you are going to need to melt your soap using 30 second intervals. Once your soap is melted, pour it all into your mixing bowl. After everything is in the bowl, use the hand mixer again to whip everything into a frosting consistency.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe:Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Frosting Your Pistachio Pudding

Now that your whipped topping is fluffy, you can add it to the tops of your soaps. We recommend that you work quickly because the soap is going to set up fast. First, quickly spray the tops of your soaps with rubbing alcohol. Then, take a spatula to spread the whipped soap frosting all over the tops of your bars.

Finally, you are read to sprinkle on the sliced almond topping. For this we are going to be using Orange Peel Cut and Sifted. as they look similar enough to the almonds on the pistachio pudding and look cute on the soaps. Now, your three soap bars are finished and as soon as your soaps set up you are ready to remove from molds and use!

Once you have colored and scented your soap, you will be pouring your soap into the mold.  For this soap recipe, we used a mold from flexiblemolds.com.  It is their Raspberries/Blackberries Soap & Candle Mold.  So, pour your melted soap into the cavities of this mold.  Then, spray the soap with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles.  Lastly, allow them to setup before removing them from the molds.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown SoapChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown Soap

In this next step, you will prepare your brown soap.  This soap will later be coated with whipped soap base and rolled, in the same manner, you would roll a jelly roll or cake roll.  You will need a pan lined with either a silicone baking mat, parchment paper, or wax paper.  Lining your pan prior to pouring the soap will make it much easier to remove from the pan once it sets up.  Since we are using fragrance oil, you will want to use a pan that is specifically for soap making.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Total Recipe Amounts for the Brown Soap

800 grams Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap
40 grams Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Fragrance Oil
40 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer
5 grams Organic Cocoa Powder
59 grams Vegetable Glycerin

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown Melt and Pour SoapChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown Melt and Pour Soap

Your first step is to prepare your brown melt and pour soap.  We will once again be using Natures Garden’s Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap.  So, weigh out 800 grams of the clear mp soap base.  You want to melt the soap for 30 seconds at a time until it is melted.  You want to be careful not to overheat the soap base.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown Soap ColorantChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown Soap Colorant

Now, you will want to prepare your brown soap colorant.  This can be done while you are waiting for your soap to melt.  You will need a very small bowl, vegetable glycerin and Natures Garden’s organic cocoa powder.  In your bowl, weigh out 5 grams of cocoa powder.  Then, add 19 grams of vegetable glycerin.  Mix until you no longer see any clumps of powder.  By dispersing the cocoa powder in vegetable glycerin, you will be able to easily and smoothly mix it into your soap base.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your Fragrance Oil and ColorantChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your Fragrance Oil and Colorant

Next, you will need be adding your fragrance oil and colorant.  We will also be adding some vegetable glycerin.  Adding vegetable glycerin will give the soap flexibility so it can be rolled in a later step.  So, when your clear soap is in a liquid state, add 40 grams of vegetable glycerin, the brown cocoa powder colorant you prepared, 40 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, and 40 grams of Natures Garden Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Fragrance Oil.  When you have the ingredients added, mix thoroughly to ensure everything is completely blended.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Pouring Your Brown SoapChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Pouring Your Brown Soap

Once everything is mixed together, you are ready to begin pouring your brown soap.  The brown soap will be poured into the wax paper lined pan you prepared.  So, pour your melted brown soap slowly into your pan.  Once you have poured the soap, spray it with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles.  Then, let the soap setup and remove it from the pan. Set it aside for the moment, you will come back to it in a later step.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Soap FrostingChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Soap Frosting

Now, you will prepare your soap frosting.  Once it is prepared, we will spread it on our brown soap before rolling it up.  In addition, a small amount of the soap base will be placed across the top of the soap loaf to hold the raspberries in place.  The soap frosting will consist of both mp soap and whipped soap base.  By adding melt and pour soap to the whipped soap, it will allow the whipped soap to harden while maintaining a whipped frosting look.  If you added strictly whipped soap base, the whipped soap would remain soft and your soap roll would not stay together.  You will need to move quickly through the next few steps.  The whipped soap, once mixed with the melt an pour soap, will setup pretty fast.

First, you will prepare your whipped soap base.  The whipped soap base is what gives the pink filling the fluffy frosting-like consistency.  So, you will want to prepare your whipped soap in a very deep mixing bowl.  Once you have your bowl out, prepare your hand mixer.  Then, in your deep mixing bowl, weigh out 400 grams of NG’s Whipped Soap Base.

Now, before you add your melt and pour soap, you will be adding fragrance oil and pink colorant.  You will also be adding vegetable glycerin.  So, to the bowl with your whipped soap base add 40 grams Vegetable Glycerin, 40 grams Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Fragrance Oil, 40 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, 3 drops Neon Pink FUN Soap Colorant, 2 drops Ultramarine Violet FUN Soap Colorant, and 6 drops Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant.  Finally, use your hand mixer to blend all of the ingredients.  You will want to continue to mix until you have a fluffing frosting-like consistency.  Set this bowl aside, you will come back to it in just a minute.

Next, we will be preparing some diamond clear melt and pour soap base.  This soap base will be added to this whipped soap base.  So, weigh out and melt 400 grams if your clear melt and pour soap base in the microwave.  Remember to melt the soap in 30 second intervals.  Once it is in a liquid state we will begin putting our whipped soap base together.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Finishing Your Soap FrostingChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Finishing Your Soap Frosting

The final step in finishing soap frosting is putting everything together.  Remember earlier when I said you would need to move quickly?  This is where it starts.  Once you add your melt and pour soap base to the pink whipped soap, you will need to quickly move so your can create you soap jelly roll before it sets up.  So, at this time, go ahead and add you melted soap to the bowl containing your pink whipped soap.  Then, use a hand mixer to blend it to a whipped soap frosting.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Putting Everything TogetherChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Putting Everything Together

Now, we will begin putting everything together.  You will need everything in front of you.  I highly recommend placing your brown soap on a piece of wax paper or parchment paper.  You will also need the soap raspberries you prepared earlier and your soap frosting.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your Soap FrostingChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your Soap Frosting

Your first step will be adding your soap frosting.  You want to spread your soap frosting across the entire surface of the brown soap.  Do this, in the same manner, you would if you were frosting a cake.  However, you do want to leave about 40 grams of whipped soap in your bowl, we will use this portion to top the loaf once it is rolled.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Rolling Your Soap LoafChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Rolling Your Soap Loaf

Finally, you will be rolling your soap loaf.  Place your soap in front of you vertically.  Then, begin rolling the soap like you would a jelly roll.  Once you have rolled your soap completely, remove any extra whipped soap you find along any edges.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Whipped ToppingChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Whipped Topping

Lastly, we will be adding a few finishing touches.  This will include both the whipped soap base and the raspberry embeds.  First, you will need the remaining whipped soap frosting.  If needed you should be able to heat it one time for about 15 seconds so it will be easier to work with.  However, you will only be able to do this one.  Next, spray the top of the rolled soap loaf with rubbing alcohol so that your whipped soap will adhere better.  Then, place the pink soap frosting across the top.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your Raspberry EmbedsChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your Raspberry Embeds

Finally, we will be adding your raspberry embeds.  Place the raspberry embeds directly on top of your whipped soap.  I used all but a few of mine but definitely would have had room for all of them had I placed my raspberries closer together.  Go ahead and add your raspberry embeds to your soap loaf.  Then, if need be, use a clean paper towel or cloth to wipe off any extra soap base on the brown soap before moving on.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your White Chocolate DrizzleChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your White Chocolate Drizzle

Your very last finishing touch will be adding your white chocolate drizzle.  The drizzle will be created using Natures Garden’s Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap.  The soap base will be scented but uncolored.  This is the final step and is done right before you begin slicing your soap.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Total Recipe Amounts for the White Soap:

40 grams Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap
2 grams Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Fragrance Oil
2 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer

So, in a small mixing bowl, you will be preparing your white soap.  Weigh out and melt 40 grams of your mp soap base.  Then, 2 grams Natures Garden’s Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Fragrance Oil and 2 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  Then, stir to incorporate the fragrance oil.  Lastly, use a spoon to drizzle your soap loaf.  Allow it to setup, then slice your soap.

I hope that you have enjoyed creating this project with us!  I thoroughly enjoyed creating it for you!  In fact, this is probably my absolute favorite soap I have ever created here at Natures Garden.  I was inspired by an actual food recipe I found on Pinterest.  I will most definitely be creating this raspberry chocolate Swiss roll this weekend.  You must check it out!  If you have already tried it let me know what you think on our Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook page.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparations

Before we begin you should make sure that your work station is clean and ready for you to work. Further, you should wash and dry all the equipment that you are going to be working with. Doing this will help to ensure that your finished product is clean, as well. Nothing is worse than finishing a project and finding a speck right on the surface. Additionally, you may find it easier to gather all your ingredients before you begin creating your soap. Although you can simply grab everything as you go, it can be helpful to have everything in your work space before starting. This will make are that you aren’t caught off guard and that you will have everything that you need as you need it.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Beginning with the Soap ColorsSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Beginning with the Soap Colors

First of all, you are going to focus on preparing the three color portions that you will need in a future step.Later on, you will add these colored pastes to separated portions of your melted soap base. Preparing the colors first will make it easier to work with the soap and add these colors later on. This way you will have more time to pour your soap batter. Also, it will be less likely for you to have your soap set up before it gets in the mold. So, take your three disposable cups and assign each one to a different color. You will need to make sure you have a cup for the pink, white, and brown portions of your soap.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the Pink Colorant PortionSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the Pink Colorant Portion

Now, we are going to get the pink soap colorant portion ready for you to use in a later step. So, retrieve your scale and set it to measure in grams. Next, add 7 grams of the Rose Clay, 15 grams of the Vegetable Glycerin, and 10 drops of the Neon Pink Soap Colorant to one of your disposable cups. Then, stir this mixture into a paste and make sure that all the ingredients are incorporated. After, set this mixture aside until after you melt the soap base.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the Brown Colorant PortionSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the Brown Colorant Portion

Next, you will be getting the brown colorant ready for that portion of the soap. So, use the scale to fill your next disposable cup with 7 grams of Cocoa Powder and 16 grams of Vegetable Glycerin. You will stir this until it is a paste consistency and has incorporated all the ingredients. Then, you can set aside this colorant mixture for you to use in a later step.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the White Colorant PortionSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Preparing the White Colorant Portion

Next, you will prepare the last portion of the colorants. So, grab the cup that is meant to contain the white portion of your soap colorant. Then, you can add 5 grams of Kaolin Clay Powder and 10 grams of Vegetable Glycerin to this remaining disposable cup. You will need to stir this to incorporate all the ingredients and create the proper consistency. Then, you can set the white colorant aside until you need it later on.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Melting the Soap BaseSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Melting the Soap Base

Now, you are ready to prepare the actual soap portion of your recipe. So, you will cut up and weigh out 904 grams of the Natures Garden Cocoa Butter Soap Base. Also, make sure that you put this soap base into a microwave safe, glass bowl. After you cut up the soap, you can use your microwave to melt the cocoa butter soap base. You will want to melt the soap with 30 second bursts and be sure to stir in between the heating times. This will prevent you from accidentally over heating the soap base. You will need to continue the melting and stirring cycle until the soap is entirely liquid.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Adding the Fragrance OilSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Adding the Fragrance Oil

Next, you will be adding a very scrumptious fragrance oil into the melted soap. So, you will need to weigh out 45 grams of the Chocolate Covered Strawberries Fragrance Oils. Then, you should take your newly melted soap base. After, you can add the weighed fragrance oil to the soap. Also, add in 45 grams of the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer to the melted soap. This will prevent some of the discoloration that could be caused by the fragrance oil. Since the fragrance has a 6% vanillin content, it would be likely to create a dark brown color in the soap if left on its own. This is why we need to add in the vanilla white stabilizer, as it prevents discoloration and allows us to color the soap as we see fit. After you have added the soap scent and Vanilla White, you can stir these ingredients into the soap to incorporate everything into the mixture.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Separating the Scented Soap BaseSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Separating the Scented Soap Base

Then, you need to separate the melted soap base. You will incorporate one of the three soap colorants you prepared earlier to each of the three containers. So, take each of the three containers of color and set them up nearby. Then, to the first mixing bowl, weigh about 301 grams of the melted soap base. Next, add your pink clay soap colorant. Next, in the second bowl, add 301 grams of the melted soap base.  Again, add your colorant, this time the cocoa powder colorant. Finally, you should have about 301 grams of soap left in the bowl that you used to originally melt the soap. To this bowl, add the kaolin white clay. Make sure that you mix well to incorporate all the ingredients in each bowl. Afterwards, you will be ready to pour your soap colors into the silicone soap loaf mold!

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Filling the Soap Mold

Now, it is time to fill your silicone soap mold with your colored soap portions. So, get your silicone loaf soap mold prepared in your work area. Know that you will have enough soap to fill two of the four loaf cavities in the soap mold. Also, you will need to grab two of your proportioned cups of colored soap, which two colors that you use initially is up to you. Then, use both your hands and pour these two different colors into the soap mold simultaneously. Add a bit with these two colors, then switch to the next color. You will pour these at the same time, as well. You will need to repeat this process of alternating these three colors and pouring two at a single time until you use up each of your three soap portions.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Adding the Finishing Touches on the SoapSwirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Adding the Finishing Touches on the Soap

Next, you are ready to add the finishing touches to the soap in your silicone soap loaf mold. So, take your spray bottle of rubbing alcohol and spray the top of your soap loaves. This will make sure that any air bubbles that may be in the soaps are released before the soap sets up completely. As a general rule, you should always spray rubbing alcohol after pouring melt and pour soap. Afterwards, you will need to wait for your soap loaves to completely set up before doing anything else for this craft recipe. If you move the soap before the loaves set up completely, then you could possibly mess up the tops of the soap. This could lead to a wrinkled appearance on top or even accidentally spilling the soaps.

Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe Cutting the Finished Soap

After the soap completely sets up, you will be ready to remove your loaves of soap from the mold and slice the soaps into bars! Your soaps should be completely set up at this point, so pop the two soap loaves out of the silicone soap mold. Then, you can get these finished soap loaves ready to cut into individual bars of soap. So, use your mitre box and cutter to cleanly slice your bars into bars of soap that are the perfect size for use. Now, your soaps are finally finished!

Melt and Pour Soap BenefitsMelt and Pour Soap Benefits

We at Natures Garden would like to share some of the melt and pour soap benefits with customers that may not know too much about soaping. There are quite a few different methods one can use to create soaps, so it can be a bit overwhelming for new soapers. Every method has some benefits that you may enjoy, but you must choose the method that will be best for you and the situation you are in.

While many find melt and pour soap to be one of the easier ways to make soap at home, even the most experienced soapmaker may come back to this method. Honestly, it all depends on what the soaps are needed for and the time you have available. So, at one point or another, anyone can benefit from knowing a bit about this method. If you have never used melt and pour soap or are thinking about trying this method again, then we’d like to share with you all of the great things about melt and pour soap. So, here is why melt and pour soap is a great soap making method!

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Great for Beginning Soap MakersMelt and Pour Soap Benefits Great for Beginning Soap Makers

Due to a few different aspects of this soap making method, beginning soap makers may want to start with this method. This is an easy way to introduce soap making into your crafting. This method won’t have you working with lye right out of the gate. This can help prevent you from feeling overwhelmed with everything all at once. Instead, a new soap maker can get used to the time sensitive nature of cooling soap, adding fragrance oils, and coloring soap. Plus, this method skips right to the fun of creating to let you experience all the fun. Melt and pour soap allows you to have fun trying out soap making before jumping into more complex methods. You can create very simple soaps that are still cute with this method without taking too much time or skill to complete.

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Creativity and Additional Ingredients

There is so much that you can do with melt and pour soap! As long as you have some molds, additives, and a creative mind you can make anything you want. Further, you can look to our Melt & Pour Soap Recipes page for soap making inspiration and ideas. In addition, you can print out the step by step soap making tutorials for each project on that page. While melting soap and pouring it into molds may sound like it is simple and boring, we can show you that there is so much that you can create with this method of soap making.

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Manipulating the Shape of the SoapMelt and Pour Soap Benefits Manipulating the Shape of the Soap

Since melt and pour soap will take on the shape of whatever it sets up in, it is pretty easy to shape the soap into whatever you’d like. For example, our Lollipop Soap Recipe used a flat shaped soap layer and cut it into strips that we curled to create a lollipop appearance. Also, the Fresh Fallen Leaves Soap Recipe used straws to have soap shaped like a tree trunk. This along with the melt and pour soap leaves created a very pretty soap! Plus, you can make more simple soaps that are super cute like the Neapolitan Cupcake Soap Recipe, which uses a layered cupcake base and whipped frosting on top.

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Adding Herbs and MicaMelt and Pour Soap Benefits Adding Herbs and Mica

Also, you can incorporate micas and even herbs into your soap! You can take your chosen additives and include it right into your melted soap. We have done this with our Blarney Stone Soap Recipe. Gold mica was added to the clear melt and pour soap base and can be seen incorporated right into the soap bar. So, you can use this technique to create a prettier appearance for your soaps. Additionally, you can add herbs or powders to provide your soap with certain properties. For example, we created the Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe with activated charcoal powder to provide a more cleansing bar of soap that provides a deep pore clean. Regardless of why you want to add herbs, mica, or other powders, the best part is that you have the option to if you need it!

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Making Embed SoapMelt and Pour Soap Benefits Making Embed Soap

Additionally, you can add soap embeds to your melt and pour soap bars. This technique gives you the freedom to create even more creative kinds of soap. This would have you create a smaller soap prior to creating your soap bar so that you can add shapes into the soap bar itself.

While it will all be melt and pour soap, you will be able to use the embedded soap to create designs or certain effects. For example, creating the swirl for the Cinnabun Melt and Pour Soap Recipe. We wanted to add a swirl to make the soap bar look more like a cinnamon roll and less plain after we cut our soap loaf. Plus, it just looks so cute! Also, we used this embed soap idea to make the seeds for our Watermelon Soap Recipe. Otherwise, our soap wouldn’t have looked like a slice of watermelon! Sometimes the embed soap really pulls your soap idea together!

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Option to Make Clear Soap

Another creative option unique to melt and pour soap is creating a bar that you can see straight into. We all know that we can see embed soaps by cutting a loaf of soap into a few individual bars. However, diamond clear melt and pour soap offers another way to get creative with embed soaps. You can create a bar of soap with solid shapes and colors inside that you will be able to see without cutting.

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Mango Loofah Melt and Pour Soap RecipeSimply add a layer of diamond clear soap, place your solid object or colored soap inside, and add your top layer. This leaves you with a solid bar of soap with a fun design inside. We have used this method to create the Mango Loofah Melt and Pour Soap Recipe, where you can see the loofah inside the soap bar. Another idea is to use this soap technique to create kids toys with fun little toys inside.

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Some Choice with the Ingredients

While you aren’t in complete control of the ingredients that are in your soap base, there are some things that you can do. First of all, you can choose your type of soap base. There are a lot of different melt and pour soap bases to choose from that all have different ingredients. For example, you can choose the SLS FREE Glycerin Melt and Pour Soap if you are looking for soap base without SLS. We have a lot of different types that may suit your individual soaping needs on Natures Garden’s Melt and Pour Soap page. Some of my favorites are our Shea Butter MP Soap Base and the Honey MP Base. Whether you are looking for a with a little extra of something, soap without a certain ingredient, or a base with a certain appearance, you can find all our soap bases on our site.

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Controlling Certain IngredientsMelt and Pour Soap Benefits Controlling the Ingredients

Not only can you choose different types of soap base to control the ingredients, but you are in control of scenting and coloring. If you have sensitive skin or allergies, then you can create melt and pour soaps that agree with your skin. First, those with sensitivities to fragrances and essential oils can leave the bar unscented. Also, those that would rather not use liquid soap dye can use natural herbs to color the soap or leave the soap it’s natural color. Thus, you do have some control over the content of your soap bars.

Furthermore, you can add a little bit more of your favorite oils of butters to the soap base you choose. If you find a soap base that has all the ingredients you like, but you wish that it included another ingredient, you have the freedom to add something else. However, you need to be careful not to add too much as this can change the bar and could lose its lather. So, we would not recommend introducing more than a tablespoon of your added oils or butters per pound of mp soap. But, you can play with your recipe to find the right proportion for your soap bars.

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Convenience of this Method

Another great reason to work with melt and pour soap is that it is super easy to create soaps! This soap making method is very simple in every way from prepping to create the soap to the clean up process. So, let’s go over all the ways that melt and pour soap making saves you time and effort.

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Can Use the Soap Immediately

Also, you can use your soaps immediately after you make them. Obviously, the melt and pour soap base has been previously created and gone through saponification before you buy the melt and pour soap base. While you don’t have to worry about the lye, the soap already has it in the soap. But, the lye that was used to make the soap has already had time to fully react before the soap bases were sold. This means that the curing process has already completely finished before you even open the soap package. So, no need to wait after you form your masterpieces! As soon as your soaps are colored, scented, and out of their molds it can go straight into the bath tub! This is wonderful because you don’t have to worry about waiting long enough to prevent irritation and you can use the soap right away with no waiting.

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Quick, Easy, and Fun

Furthermore, this soap making method is perfect for those that are in a hurry to have their soaps done. If you need to get your soaps ready quick for a gathering, a gift, or just excited to use it yourself, then this is a good soaping choice. Everything about this soaping method is quicker. In the beginning, there are fewer preparations and after you finish there is no curing time before using the soap. So, you will have your finished soaps ready as soon as everything has set up and popped out of the molds.

Also, melt and pour soap making is perfect for those that are in the mood to skip right to the creative part of soap making. Since melt and pour soap already has the first few steps of the soaping process complete, you don’t need to worry about these. So, you will have more time and energy to focus on creating super cute soap! You are left with the coloring, scenting, and shaping of your soaps. Simply melt the soap, fill your molds, and get creative.  This soap method is an easy way to get right to the fun part of soap making!

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits No Need to Deal with LyeMelt and Pour Soap Benefits No Need to Deal with Lye

While lye is safe with the necessary safety precautions, sometimes it is just easier to let somebody else do all the leg work. In this case, our melt and pour soap base lets you buy your slabs of soap after they have cured. Thus, there is a lot less to prepare when working with melt and pour soap. For example, you won’t need to take as many safety precautions or wear as much protective clothing during the creation of your soap. Also, you won’t have to deal with making the lye water solution or combining the oils at the right temperature. So, no need to have vinegar handy because lye burns won’t ever happen with this soaping method. Thus, melt and pour soap making is just that much easier to work with!

Melt and Pour Soap Benefits Clean Up Is Easy

Further, the clean up for this method is very easy. Since this the melt and pour soap base is already completed soap, all you really need to do is wash your utensils with water. No need to worry about unreacted lye and no intense scrubbing or vinegar required. Just like soap, your left over base will rinse right out of your bowl.

Before you begin this recipe you may want to clean and prepare both your workspace and the equipment you will be working with for this recipe. Since crafting can take most of your attention, it may be more likely for dirt to find its way into your finish products. So, just clean and wipe everything down before you start.

First, find a workspace that provided you with plenty of room and access to a microwave. So, sanitize the surface you will be working on to prevent anything from getting picked up as you lay down your utensils. Also, make sure to wipe out the microwave you are going to use to make sure nothing falls into your bowls as your heat the soap base. Next, you will want to clean all your equipment you will be using for the recipe. This will allow you to be sure that nothing will get into the melted soap as you mix the ingredients together. In addition, set out your Brownie Bites Silicone Mold and make sure it is wiped out well. Do all of this and your soaps are sure to come out perfectly clean and adorable!

Lemon Squares Soap Recipe Weighing Soap for the First LayerLemon Squares Soap Recipe Weighing Soap for the First Layer

Initially, we are going to create the first layer of our melt and pour soap lemon squares. This will end up being the layer on the top of our soap when we are finished. So, weigh out 270 grams of the Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base into a clean, microwave safe bowl. Now, you are going to melt your weighed out soap in the microwave. Take the bowl and heat your mango butter soap in 30-second increments until all the soap has completely melted. Once all the soap is in a liquid state, you can move on to the next step.

Next, we are going to add the lemon fragrant oil and create the color for our first soap layer. So, grab your bowl of melted Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base. Now, add 13 grams of Natures Garden’s Lemon Squares Fragrance Oil to your clear, melted soap base. Then, add two drops of the Yelp Yellow Soap Colorant and 1 drop of the Yellow Oxide Soap Colorant to the melted soap mixture. Make sure to mix everything thoroughly to incorporate all of the scent and colorants throughout the soap. After it has been evenly mixed, you can move on to the next step.

Now, you are going to pour this completed soap mixture into the mold to complete your first layer. So, fill each of the 24 cavities about halfway with your soap mixture. Just make sure that you don’t fill the mold cavities too high! Pouring too much into one cavity will prevent you from having a good-sized second layer. Also, you would be more likely to run out of your diamond clear melt and pour soap mixture before you finish filling all the cavities that you need to fill! So, try to keep the mold cavities filled as close to halfway as you possibly can.

Then, you are going to quickly finish off this first layer. After you have poured everything into the mold you are going to lightly spray the tops of your soaps before they start to set up. This is done to release any air bubbles that could be trapped. This air comes from the pouring process. So, grab your spray bottle of rubbing alcohol and give your soap a few good spritzes. Once this is done you will want to wait until this layer is entirely set up before moving on to another step. This will prevent unwanted mixing of layers and you are going to want two separate and straight layers

Next, you will be getting the second soap layer ready. After the first layer has set up completely it is time to start preparing the second layer. Once we pop out the finished soaps, this will become the bottom layer in the finished soaps. So, weigh out 270 grams of the Mango Butter Melt and Pour Soap into a clean, microwave safe bowl. Now, use the microwave oven to heat this soap base in 30-second intervals and stir quickly between each interval. After all the soap is in liquid form, you are ready for the next step of this process.

Now, you are going to be adding the lemon squares fragrance oil and soap colorant to your melted soap base. So, take your bowl of melted mango soap base and add 13 grams of the Lemon Squares Fragrance Oil. Then, you are going to add 1 drops of the Neon Yellow FUN Soap Colorant, 1 drop of the Yellow Oxide Soap Colorant, and a tiny amount of the Brown Oxide Soap Colorant. You can add this tiny amount of Brown Oxide FUN Soap Colorant with a toothpick.  Simply dip a toothpick into your bottle of brown soap colorant. Then, dip the toothpick into the soap. This will swirl a very tiny amount into your melted soap base. After, mix everything together thoroughly until it is evenly dispersed in your soap mixture.

Next, you are going to take your soap mixture and pour it into each of the cavities of the brownie bites silicone mold. Since your first layer is entirely set up, it is safe to pour this second layer of soap. First, you are going to spray the first layer one more time with the rubbing alcohol. Doing this will help the two layers stick together better and also help prevent the layers from breaking apart later on. After, fill the remaining half of each of the 24 cavities in your mold. After you finish you should have all 24 of the cavities completely filled to the top.

Again, you will be spraying the top of your freshly poured soap in the mold. So, grab your spray bottle of rubbing alcohol. Then, lightly spray the tops all your soaps before they start to set up. Since this removes all the trapped air bubbles, spraying the rubbing alcohol should leave you with smooth soap. After you spray, you will wait a while to allow this layer to completely set up. Later, you will be removing all of your lemon squares from their cavities in the silicone soap mold. Once everything is removed you can move on to the final step!

Finally, you are going to be adding the powdered sugar topping to your finished lemon square soaps! At this point, the second layer you poured should be completely set up and you will remove all your soap from the mold. This will leave you with 24 bright yellow squares that are super cute! Now, each of these square soaps will be topped with the powdered sugar to give a more realistic effect. First, make sure that each lemon square scented soap has the side that has the brighter yellow, which was created with the diamond clear soap, facing up. Otherwise, you could end up with upside down lemon squares! Nobody wants that, so make sure to pay close attention.

Then, take a spoon and scoop some of the powdered sugar. Now, sprinkle this sweet powdered sugar onto the tops of your little soaps. Then, shake off any excess powdered sugar. The sugar should stick to the tops without rubbing alcohol. It seems to stick just like it would on a real lemon square!

Lemon Squares Soap Recipe Using Your Lemon Square Soaps

After your soaps all have their powdered sugar topping put on, they are finished and you are officially done with your soaps. Finally, these little dessert soaps are ready to use! Unlike with cold process soap, there is no cure time. This is because the soap had already been through the saponification process and given time to cure before you purchased the soap. So, your creations are ready to use as soon as they set up! Obviously, you can use your lemon square soaps just like you would a typical soap bar. Since everything, including the powdered sugar, is body safe. So, you can use these soaps as a hand soap or a shower soap. Regardless, you’ll get clean and smell like delicious lemon squares!
