Rose Petals Bath Melts Recipe

How have we used coco mango fragrance oil?  Well, we used it in these adorable bath melts.  With the addition of both mango butter and cocoa butter, these bath melts will pamper your skin.  So, when you’re ready to make the Rose Petal Bath Melts, click the link, or picture for the recipe.

Coco Mango Fragrance Oil performs pretty well in cold process soap.  It showed no ricing and also no acceleration.  While we did notice slight separation after pouring the batter, the oils did reabsorb.  In addition, it discolors to a milk chocolate. Strong scent retention.  See exactly how it performs by clicking here.

When creating homemade candles with Natures Garden’s Coco Mango aroma, we suggest a yellow orange color.  You can achieve this color by using 2 drops of orange along with 2 drops yellow liquid candle dye. However, we should add, this suggestion is based on a 4 pound batch of wax.

Grapefruit Mango Fragrance Oil Grapefruit Mango Fragrance Oil

When our perfumist presented Natures Garden with this fragrance oil, we were in awe!  Refreshing, exotic, with just the right amount of Japanese grapefruit.  Grapefruit mango fragrance begins with top notes of Japanese grapefruit, ruby red grapefruit, and mango; followed by middle notes of cucumber and honeydew melon; and sits on a dry down of vanilla. An NG Original Fragrance!

Do you make your own candles?  Natures Garden suggests coloring you candles with either liquid candle dye or color blocks.  You can use 4 drops orange plus 2 drops red liquid candle dye.  Alternatively, a small amount of shredded red and orange color blocks can be used.

Now, while this one can be used in a variety of bath and body products, we have found that it does not perform well in cold process soap recipes.  You are welcome to test Grapefruit Mango Fragrance Oil in hot process soap, however we have not tested it in this application.

Lime Basil Mango Fragrance OilLime Basil Mango Fragrance Oil

This fragrance oil by Natures Garden is sweet and tangy, with a summer citrus blend of exotic kaffir lime mixed with crisp basil and juicy mangos.

When you’re coloring your homemade candles using this mango fragrance oil, we suggest a lime color.  You can use 2 drops of yellow with the addition of 2 drops green liquid candle dye to get this color.  Another option is color blocks.  So, you can shred a small amount of green and yellow color blocks into your melted wax for the same color results.

Next, this fragrance oil is extremely strong in handmade soaps.  We found no separation and no ricing.  However, we did show slight acceleration to the batter.  Although, it had no discoloration and an awesome scent retention.

This fragrance oil by Natures Garden is a POWER SCENT; very complex and strong!  This fragrance was tested by customers in our VIP testing program and received incredible praise!  Relax, refresh and recharge with the serene yet uplifting scent of luscious tropical mango, juicy papaya and creamy island florals.  One of our favorite mango fragrance oils.

This is a fabulous tropical scent in soap.  While initially we thought it might not be great in soap, the finished soap looked great and had a strong scent retention.  Our testing showed that it riced but stick blended out, separated but reabsorbed.  We found now acceleration.  The cured soap discolors to a light brown sugar color.

When creating homemade candles, we suggest 3 drops orange and 1 drop yellow liquid candle dye.  This is again, based on a four pound batch.  You could shred a small amount of a yellow and orange color block into your melted wax instead.

First, you are going to create the melt and pout peep bunny soaps. These will be used to top the cold process soap that you will be making some later steps. So, before you begin the portion of the recipe that deals with the cold process soap you will be creating eight bunny peeps with melt and pour soap. When the time comes, you can choose to have two of each color or have a different color combination off peep bunny soaps. But, we will provide the amounts needed to achieve the correct colors. So, lets start with the melt and pour.

Peeps Cold Process Soap Recipe Melting the Soap

Now, you are going to melt the soap needed to create the bunny peep soaps. Since each peep will require 40 grams of melt and pour soap and we are creating two at a time, we will begin by melting 80 grams of the Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap. Melt this in 30 second increments. After you color this portion of your soap, you will melt three additional portions in their own bowls to be colored.

Next, you can add the color and scent to your melted soap. Take the melted 80 grams of Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap from the previous step. Add 4 grams of the Yummy Gummy Fragrance Oil and the colorant of your choice. Depending on you decision, you will use 2 grams of Neon Pink, 2 grams of Deep Purple, 2 grams of Neon Blue, or 1 gram of Neon Yellow. You can either do a set of each color, or pick your favorites.

Then, you can fill the bunny peeps silicone soap mold. After you color your melt and pour soap, you can pour it into the molds. This should fill two bunny molds. Also, make sure you spray the top of the soap before you move on to you next batch of melt and pour. Once you have repeated these steps to get eight filled bunnies, then its time to move on to the next step.

Finally, the last step of the melt and pour process is to cover the bunny peeps in sugar. Once the soap is set up, remove them from the mold. Next, spray the peep bunny soaps with rubbing alcohol to get the sugar to adhere. After, cover the peeps in sugar and be sure to remember the sides as well. Next, let them dry before spraying and coating the backs of your bunny soaps.

Second, we are going to create the cold process soap portion of this recipe. Set your sugar coated peep bunny soaps aside. After the cp soap is set up in the mold, these will be used in decorate the top of the loaf. Until then, we will use the same four different colors along with white to create a swirled cp soap. Thus, we will be using an in the pot swirl technique.  So, lets get the cold process soap started.

Peeps Cold Process Soap Recipe Preparing the LyePeeps Cold Process Soap Recipe Preparing the Lye

Now, you are going to prepare you lye solution. Be sure that you are now working in a ventilated and safe area. First, you will weight out 517 grams of distilled water. Next, slowly mix 188 grams of lye into the previously weighed water. Make sure you add the lye to the water. Move on to the next step, but be sure to stir in 43 grams of sodium lactate after this solution has cooled to room temperature.

Peeps Cold Process Soap Recipe Preparing the Butters and Oils

Then, we can get the butters and oils ready for later. Take a scale and tare out a new bowl. Weigh 136 grams of Sweet Almond Oil, 340 grams Coconut Oil 76, 163 grams Grapeseed Oil, 340 grams Shea Butter, 372 grams Palm Oil, and 109 grams Castor Oil into the bowl. Next, we are going to get some medium mixing bowls ready with colorants. While we will only have four colors, you will need to have five bowls. Also, we will be adding 225 grams of soap to each so make sure the bowls are big enough.

So, in each of the bowls we will add one color or titanium dioxide. You will put 5 grams of Neon Yellow FUN Soap Colorant in the first bowl and in the second you will put 5 grams of Neon Pink FUN Soap Colorant. The third will have you put in 4 grams of Deep Purple FUN Soap Colorant and the fourth will have 4 grams of Neon Blue FUN Soap Colorant. In the last bowl you will put 15 grams of Titanium dioxide with a small amount of your melted oils to create a smooth paste.

After, we are going to separate the soap into the different bowls with colors. The four bowls that contain FUN Soap Colorant will each get 225 grams of your soap batter added to them. Now, the bowl of titanium dioxide will be added to the original bowl after all the colors have been given the right amount of soap. Stick blend the titanium dioxide into the batter. Also, mix your colors starting with the lightest color and try to quickly wipe your blender between.

Next, we are going to set some of our white soap aside for later use. Take the bowl containing the Titanium dioxide with soap and separate 225 grams of the batter. Your smaller portion will be used with the colors to swirl the soap. The larger portion will be used in a later step to top the loaf.

Now, we are going to swirl the soap colors to get ready for pouring. Find a large bowl that will be able to hold all this soap. Add the white soap the the large bowl first. Then, pour each of the colors into the bowl, right on top of each other. After, use a spatula to swirl, which can be done by placing your spatula in the center of the bowl and moving in a clockwise manner. Next, pour your batter in the soap mold.

Finally, we are going to do the last few things to finish off this recipe. First, add the remaining portion of white soap to the top of your loaf. Do your best to make this resemble marshmallow fluff. Then, place the peeps bunny soap that were made previously on top of the white soap. After 24 hours you can remove the cold process soap from the loaf mold and when its hard you can cut the soap. Then, once it has fully cured your soap will be ready to use!

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Clean and Sanitize

As always, you should make sure that you are fully prepared to create these amazing and lip softening lip balms. You will want to make sure that you have both clean equipment and enough working space to make the product inside your kit. First, clean all of the equipment you will need that is listed above and make sure that it is nearby. Keeping this equipment readily available will make this process go smoother and quicker. Second, make sure that you have your stove and counter top clean and ready to use. This will not only speed up the process, but help to reduce possible contamination. While this step seems simple, it is crucial for your product that everything is sanitized and ready to use.

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Making a Double Boiler

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Making a Double BoilerBefore you begin, we need to make sure that you are comfortable with using a double boiler for melting. This method of melting various things, such as oils or chocolate, is done to reduce the chance of scorching the ingredients. Instead of specifically purchasing a double boiler, you can create something that performs similarly with two differently sized pots.

First, take the larger pot and fill it with water. This pot will sit directly on the stove to allow the water to boil. Next, the smaller pot will be set in the water of the larger pot. The ingredients that you want to melt will be placed into the smaller pot. Once you are ready to melt your ingredients, turn up the stove to boil the water. This will melt your ingredients at a safer temperature, but be sure that you stir periodically and make sure that you water doesn’t boil over. Now, you are ready to get started.

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Weighing Ingredients

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Weighing IngredientsFirst, you will weigh two of your ingredients that will take a bit longer to melt. Retrieve the beeswax, mango butter, a bowl, and your scale. Now, tare the weight of the bowl from the scale. Individually weigh your 29 grams of the white beeswax and 17 grams of the mango butter into the bowl. Set this bowl aside for a moment, but not to far as you will use this mixture in the following step.

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Melting Ingredients

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Melting IngredientsNext, you will melt your weighed ingredients in your newly created double boiler. After you have the double boiler assembled turn on the stove to begin boiling the water of the large pot. Next, retrieve the bowl of white beeswax and mango butter. Empty this mixture into the small pot. Additionally, add approximately 4 to 6 discs of the chocolate wafers. The amount you add is a personal preference in flavoring, so add any amount you choose. Since these three ingredients will take longest to melt, these will be allowed to stay on the stove while the next few steps are done.

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Weighing the Remaining Oils

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Weighing the Remaining OilsNow, you are going to weigh out the remaining oils. Take another bowl, a scale, coconut oil 76, the avocado oil, and the vitamin E oil. Tare the weight of the bowl from the scale and weigh your ingredients. You will be weighing out 35 grams of coconut oil 76, 35 grams of avocado oil, and 1 gram of vitamin E oil.

Additionally, it is possible that your bottles of coconut oil 76 may be arrive in solid form, as its melting point is around room temperature. If this happens to occur, then you will need to melt the coconut oil 76 before weighing. You can either place the closed bottles into hot water or place the uncapped coconut oil 76 in the microwave with thirty second intervals to melt. Once everything is weighed into your bowl, temporarily set aside.

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Combining Ingredients into the Double Boiler

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Combining Ingredients into the Double BoilerNext, you will be adding the mixture in the bowl to the double boiler. Hopefully, the mixture already in your double boiler has melted a bit. Now, you can add the coconut oil 76, avocado oil, and vitamin E oil mixture to your double boiler.  You will want to be observant and make sure that the ingredients in your double boiler don’t get too hot. If you feel that your ingredients are getting too hot, turn down the heat or lift the small pot for a moment or so. Finally, when the mixture has completely melted you can remove the small pot from the water.

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Filling the Lip Balm Tubes

Chocolate Avocado Lip Balm Kit Filling the Lip Balm TubesLastly, you will transfer the mixture from the pot to the lip balm tubes. Take your transfer pipettes to move your mixture from the pot into the lip balm tubes. You will want to work fast because the mixture will begin to set up as it cools. If the mixture hardens in the pot, then you can reheat the mixture carefully. Additionally, the hardened mixture in the pipettes can be squeezed out into the pot for melting. You should have plenty of pipettes available, but cleaning out the pipettes that you can will help prevent you from running out too soon. Once you have filled all of your lip balm tubes you will need to leave them to set up. They shouldn’t take too long to cool, but make sure not to use or cap your finished products until they are at room temperature.

First, French Green Clay has been known to be perfect for those that have some problems with oily skin or anyone with acne issues. So, this refreshing facial mask utilizes this clay’s ability to pull toxins from the skin to make an amazing facial. Also, peppermint has been known to tighten pores and brighten the complexion. Furthermore, the vegetable glycerin that is included has properties that draw moisture into your skin, leaving it baby soft. Overall, this means that every part of this recipe has a positive impact on your face. Plus, this beneficial facial recipe is quick and easy to create. Not only does this recipe only have a few steps, but all the ingredients and the tea bags are already included in the kit. This easy, homemade takes minutes to create and is absolutely worth the effort. This amazing green clay and peppermint leaf recipe will leave your face feeling clean, silky soft, and glowing!

Green Clay Mask Recipe Clean, Sanitize, and Organize

Before beginning to create your refreshing facial mask, make sure you are properly prepared for the process. First, your equipment should be cleaned and ready to use. Make sure that your bowls, pot, and spoons are clean and out on the counter. Also, make sure your counter top and stove have enough room for you to work. While this step may seem to be too simple to need mentioning, it is a very important step in this process and can make the experience infinitely more enjoyable. So, just take a few moments to clean and organize your work-space and equipment.

Green Clay Mask Recipe Things to Remember

Before starting you should know that this recipe will make enough for a single facial. If you are making this recipe for yourself, then following the recipe exactly will be perfect. However, if you are creating facials for something like a girl’s night, then you may want to plan ahead a bit. Depending on how many people you have you could maybe have each person create their own, and just share the steeped peppermint tea. On the other hand, you could try doubling the batch as you go. Either way, make sure that you are aware of how much that you are going to need.

Another thing to keep in mind is the shelf life of this recipe. We recommend that you use this recipe as soon as you create it, but you can store your facial for later use. If you want to create your facials in advance, then make sure to avoid storing for more than one week. Also, you must store this recipe in the refrigerator to prevent spoiling. As there is no preservative added, it is not a good idea to store for longer or leave out for too long. For storing you could use the 12-ounce jar that is included in the kit.  Alternatively, if you would like to extend the life of your facial mask, you can choose to add Optiphen preservative.  If you decide to go this route, we recommend a 1% usage rate.

Green Clay Mask Recipe Begin Boiling the Water

Green Clay Mask Recipe Begin Boiling the WaterBefore starting you may want to set a pot of water on the stove to boil. While you could do this in a later step, it may quicken the process a bit if you start boiling your water before you begin with the steps for this recipe. Waiting for the water to boil will lengthen the time you spend on the tea steeping step, so starting it before you begin could be a real-time saver. Now, let’s get started!

Green Clay Mask Recipe Weigh the Powders and Herb

Green Clay Mask Recipe Weigh the Powders and HerbFirst, we are going to combine the French Green Clay Powder and the Peppermint Leaf Powder into a small bowl. Take your scale, place the bowl on top, and tare out the weight of the bowl on the scale. Now, weigh 24 grams of the French Green Clay Powder and 2 grams of the Peppermint Leaf Powder into the same small bowl. Mix these two powders together and set the bowl aside for later.

Green Clay Mask Recipe Weigh the Powders and Herb

Second, you will want to weigh the Peppermint Leaf cut and sifted herb for later use. Take a new bowl and tare out your scale. Now, weight 2 grams of this herb into the bowl. We will be using this weighed herb in the following step.

Green Clay Mask Recipe Steeping the Peppermint Leaf

Green Clay Mask Recipe Steeping the Peppermint LeafNow, it’s time for you to create the peppermint leaf tea. Take the 2 grams of Peppermint Leaf cut and sifted that you have already weighed. Now, scoop all of this herb into one of the provided tea bags. Once your water is boiling you are going to place your tea bag in the boiling hot water. While you can put the tea bag directly into the pot, I transferred some of the water to another small bowl and allowed my tea bag to steep there. I did this to prevent the tea from being too diluted and to make it easier to transfer later. Once your teabag has steeped for long enough, you can move on to the next step.

Green Clay Mask Recipe Weighing the Liquid Ingredients

Green Clay Mask Recipe Weighing the Liquid IngredientsNext, you are going to combine the freshly steeped peppermint tea and the vegetable glycerin into a single, small bowl. Take your scale and tare the weight of a small bowl. Now, weigh 18 grams of the peppermint tea and 6 grams of the vegetable glycerin into the same, small bowl. Mix these together well, so you can pour this mixture in a later step.

Green Clay Mask Recipe Combining Powder and Liquid Ingredients

Green Clay Mask Recipe Combining Powder and Liquid IngredientsFinally, you are going to mix the powder mixture from the very first step with the liquid ingredients from the previous step. Take the bowl of French Green Clay Powder and Peppermint Leaf Powder and pour the bowl of Peppermint Tea and Vegetable Glycerin on top of the powders. Now, mix this mixture together well. Your facial is finally ready to use!

Green Clay Mask Recipe Results

After trying out the Natures Garden Refreshing Facial Mask myself, I’ve fallen in love with this recipe! Not only does the mask smell of delicious peppermint, but made my face feel amazing. Before trying this recipe, I was a little skeptical about whether this would work for me. While I have some problem areas, such as my nose, that are overly oily, my cheeks have been dry from a combination of my face cleanser and the cold, windy weather. However, I was extremely impressed with this recipe! It worked wonderfully on my nose but still left my cheeks feeling smooth and soft. The thing that made this refreshing facial mask kit even more amazing was that I have enough left to create nine more masks! I may even try to get one of my friends to retry this recipe with me. Even though many of my friends aren’t super crafty, this recipe is one that is super easy and delightful to use when it’s finished!

Homemade Lip Balm Kits Melting the Lip Balm Base

Homemade Lip Balm Kits Melting the Lip Balm BaseFirst, we are going to melt the lip balm base. Take the lid off of the lip balm base jar that you’ve been given. Now, put the jar without the lid into your microwave. You will want to heat your lip balm base in increments of 30 seconds. After this small amount of time, take the jar out and determine if it needs another 30 seconds. At this time, stir the lip balm base. Then, if needed, put it back in the microwave for another 30 seconds. The time that you will need to microwave will depend on the strength of your particular microwave. Since it will dry slightly different color you can place a drop on a paper plate and see the shade you will get in the end. Overall, the amount of lip tint that you add depends on your own personal preference.

Homemade Lip Balm Kits Optional Sweetening StepNow, you have the option to add in some powdered stevia sweetener. If you want your lip balm to be a bit of a gritty texture similar to a lip scrub, then you will want to include this step in your process. The added sweetener will not dissolve and will be suspended in your mixture. Those that would like to create this lip scrub sort of texture, will want to add a fourth of the packet into your mixture. If you are dividing your mixture into two portions, then you will want to add about an eighth to either one or each of your mixtures. However, if you don’t want any lip scrub feeling you don’t have to add the sweetener at all.

Homemade Lip Balm Kits Flavoring the Lip Balm Base

Homemade Lip Balm Kits Flavoring the Lip Balm BaseThen, you are going to add the lip balm flavoring to your mixture. There are two different ways you can do this step. Either split your mixture into two or make all of the lip balm products the same. If you are keeping your mixture in one bowl, then you will want to pick one of your two flavorings. Add the entire 6 ml bottle of your chosen flavoring to your lip balm base mixture. Now, mix and you are ready for the next step. However, you can use a bit of both if you’re are indecisive or like each of your flavorings equally. If you are using both, then you will want to split your mixture in half into two different bowls. In one add half of your first flavoring and in the other bowl add half of the second flavoring. Now, mix a both of your bowls.

Next, it is time to add a bit of mica dust to make your lip balm sparkly and pretty! Either take your single batch or your divided batch and add some of the dust. Depending on how sparkly you want it to be, you can add more or less. You don’t need to add all of the mica powder given in your kit, but adding quite a bit shouldn’t hurt your finished product.

Homemade Lip Balm Kits Adding the Lip Balm to the Containers

Finally, you are going to add the lip balm mixture to your various lip balm tubes and pots. If you have one single batch, take one of your clean pipettes to transfer the lip balm to the containers. You may want to be quick as your lip balm may start to set up. On the other hand, those that have divided their mix into two parts can use the pipettes that were used for the flavoring to transfer the mixture to the containers.

Now, just let the homemade lip balm set up at room temperature. It will setup pretty quickly and be ready to use soon! Once they setup, place a lid on each container or lip balm tube. You can now use your lip balm. Simply spread a little bit of your lip balm on your lips. We hope that you enjoy our homemade lip balm kit. Once you make your lip balm, we’d love to see pictures. Activated Charcoal Scrub Recipe

Activated Charcoal Scrub RecipeAnd so my obsession with activated charcoal continues.  Our next activated charcoal bath and body recipe is an activated charcoal scrub recipe.  This homemade scrub recipe includes Natures Garden’s activated charcoal powder, shea butter, coconut oil and jojoba oil just to name a few ingredients.  Let me tell you this emulsified sugar scrub recipe is fantastic.  It left my skin feeling soft and silky!  I will be making this one again for sure.

Now, if you haven’t made your own emulsified scrub before, no worries, I will walk you through each step!  You might be asking yourself, what is an emulsified scrub?  How is it different from a regular sugar scrub?  Well, an emulsified sugar scrub contains, in this case, Natures Garden’s traditional emulsifying wax.  This ingredient will emulsify, or mix, the oils with the sugar without any separation.  Have you ever made a scrub only to later have the oil separate out and sit at the top of the jar?  This is likely to happen without an emulsifier in the mix.  This tutorial will show you exactly how to avoid that problem.  In addition, it has activated charcoal included.  Activated charcoal is known to be a fabulous detoxifying agent.  It is currently my favorite ingredient to add when creating handmade soap and cosmetic recipes.

Activated Charcoal Scrub Recipe Ingredients and Equipment You Will Need

Pots (to create a double boiler)
Mixing bowls
Mixing spoons
Rubber Spatula
Scale
White Granulated Sugar

Activated Charcoal Scrub Recipe Total Recipe Weights

153 grams Coconut Oil 76
128 grams Macadamia Nut Oil
83 grams Shea Butter
70 grams Mango Butter
63 grams Emulsifying Wax Traditional
23 grams Jojoba Oil
20 grams Black Linen and Amber Fragrance Oil
17 grams Arrowroot Powder
14 grams White Beeswax Pastilles
6 grams Vitamin E Oil
6 grams Optiphen Preservative
6 grams Activated Charcoal
12 grams Vegetable Glycerin
765 grams of White Granulated Sugar

Activated Charcoal Scrub Recipe Before You Begin

Before you begin, you will want to prepare your supplies and equipment.  Clean and sanitize your work area, all of your packaging material, and utensils you will be using.  Additionally, you will want to wear an apron, a hairnet, and gloves when preparing this activated charcoal recipe.  Also, go ahead and melt your coconut oil 76.  Coconut oil will be in a solid state at temperatures above 76 degrees but will be liquid below that temperature.  So, it will be pretty easy to melt it.  Place your bottle of coconut oil in a bowl of warm tap water.

First, you will need your scale.  Then, with you scale set to grams, weigh out 128 grams of your macadamia nut oil, 83 grams of shea butter, 70 grams mango butter, 63 grams emulsifying wax traditional, 23 grams jojoba oil, and 14 grams of white beeswax pastilles.  Then, use a double boiler to melt the oils, butters, and waxes.  While you are waiting for them to melt move to the next step.

Activated Charcoal Scrub Recipe Prepare the Other Ingredients

Activated Charcoal Scrub Recipe Prepare the Other Ingredients

You will once again need your scale and a large mixing bowl.  Also, you will need the sugar.  Next, weigh out 765 grams of white granulated sugar.  Go ahead and set this aside for the moment.  You will need it in a future step.

Activated Charcoal Scrub Recipe Prepare the Other Ingredients

Now, we will prepare the activated charcoal.  Before we add the activated charcoal to the scrub, we are going to add vegetable glycerin.  This will help your charcoal powder disperse evenly throughout the scrub without clumping.  So, use your scale to weigh out 6 grams of activated charcoal.  Then, add 16 grams of vegetable glycerin.  Mix the ingredients until you have a smooth paste like consistency.  Also, set this off to the side, we will come back to it.

Next, once the oils have melted, remove them from the heat.  Then, let the temperature drop a bit.  You want the temperature of the oils to come down to between 120 degrees Fahrenheit to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.  Then, add 6 grams of your Optiphen Preservative.  Mix well to incorporate the Optiphen.  I should note, the temperature is extremely important for this step.  If it is above 140 degrees Fahrenheit, you will burn off the preservative. If it is below 120 degrees, the preservative will separate from the scrub.

Then, add 17 grams of arrowroot powder.  Mix the arrowroot powder into the oils thoroughly.  Next, add 6 grams Vitamin E Oil, 20 grams of Black Linen and Amber Fragrance Oil.  Again, stir to incorporate all of the ingredients.

Now, we will put everything together.  You will need the bowl containing the sugar.  Slowly pour the oils into the bowl of sugar.  Use a spatula to mix the sugar and oils.

Once they are mixed together, add the activated charcoal you prepared earlier.  Then, stir the activated charcoal into the mixture.  Finally, allow the scrub to come to room temperature before moving on to the next step.  The activated charcoal scrub will thicken as it cools.

Lastly, we will be adding the scrub to the jars.  You will need four of your 8 ounce black double wall jars.  In addition, you will need four black dome lids 89/400.  Use a spatula or spoon to scoop the scrub into the 8 ounce jars.  Then, place a black dome lid on top of each jar.

Finally, when using your scrub, scoop a small amount of the activated charcoal scrub out of the jar.  Then, apply it to your face and use your fingers to scrub away.  Then, simply rinse the scrub off with warm water and a washcloth.  We hope that you enjoy Natures Garden’s activated charcoal scrub recipe.  For even more cosmetic, soap, and candle recipes, check out our recipe box.  Also, let us know what you have been up to!  Post pics of your handmade projects on our Facebook page.  You can also tag us on Instagram or Twitter @ngscents.

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask RecipeOur next recipe is one that you are going to love!  An activated charcoal facial mask recipe is just what you need in your life.  I have recently become obsessed with activated charcoal powder.  I will say I have a love/hate relationship with the powder.  I love the way it leaves my skin feeling after using it.  In addition, it has wonderful detoxifying properties.  The benefits of activated charcoal definitely out weight the one bad thing about it.  It can get messy!  However, if you are prepared ahead of time, it is easily remedied.  So, just remember to cover your work area before beginning.  Also, wear an apron and disposable gloves when preparing Natures Garden’s activated charcoal mask recipe.

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Ingredients Available at Natures Garden

Activated Charcoal Powder
Bentonite Clay Powder
Rosemary Essential Oil
Vitamin E Oil (Tocopherol T-50)
Vegetable Glycerin
Disposable Transfer Pipettes
2 ounce Black Double Wall Jars
58/400 Black Dome Lids
1 ounce Black Bullet Bottles
20/410 Black Smooth Disc Top Lids
Natures Garden Apron

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Other Supplies You Will Need

Large Mixing Bowl
Scale (set to grams)
Rubber Spatula
Measuring Spoons (1 teaspoon and 1 tablespoon)
Mixing Spoon

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Prior to Starting

First, I highly suggest wearing an apron.  Then, you will want to clean and sanitize your work area.  Also, do the same with your utensils and packaging supplies.  In addition, I recommend covering your work area.  Personally, I would use wax paper or something similar.  Then, when you are finished, you can simply fold up the paper and throw it away.  While the benefits of activated charcoal are well worth the mess, it reminds me of glitter!  It tends to be difficult to clean up and spreads like crazy.

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Total Recipe Amounts

224 grams Bentonite Clay Powder
96 grams Activated Charcoal Powder
192 grams Vegetable Glycerin
32 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
24 drops Vitamin E Oil
2 tablespoons Water  (per mask)

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Mixing the Powdered Ingredients

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Mixing the Powdered Ingredients

First, you will need to weigh out your activated charcoal.  Set your scale to weigh in grams.  Then, in a large mixing bowl, weigh out 96 grams of activated charcoal powder.  We added the activated charcoal powder to this recipe due to its natural detoxifying properties.

Next, add 224 grams of Bentonite Clay Powder to your bowl.  Then mix together the activated charcoal powder and clay.  I would suggest mixing slowly, you may end up with a mess if you try to move too quickly.  We added bentonite clay powder to the mask due to its ability to clean impurities from the skin.

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Adding the Oils

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Adding the Oils

Once you have all of the powder combined we will add the essential oil.  We chose to add rosemary essential oil to this recipe.  So, go ahead and add 32 drops of rosemary essential oil using a pipette.

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Adding the Oils

Then, we will be adding the vitamin E oil.  Use another pipette to add 24 drops of vitamin E Oil (Tocopherol T-50).  We prefer the tocopherol T-50 because it is the purest for of vitamin E.  It is not tocopherol acetate that is often found in capsules.  Finally, mix everything together.  You want to make sure your oils a completely and evenly mixed into the powders.

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Packaging Your Mask

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Packaging Your Mask

We chose to package the powdered portion of the mask.  This allows you to mix it as you need it.  Also, you can have it mixed ahead of time without having to add a preservative.  In addition to the powder, you will add water, and vegetable glycerin.  First, let’s go ahead and package the powder.  You will need eight 2 ounce black jars.  Fill each jar with the activated charcoal mixture.  Place a black dome lid on each jar.

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Packaging Your Mask

Next, you will need eight 1 ounce black bottles.  Using your scale, weigh out and add 24 grams of vegetable glycerin to each bottle.  Place a black disc lid on each bottle.

Now, I know what you are thinking… Why didn’t they just put it in a couple of larger jars?  Well, this is because we have many customers reselling their handmade cosmetic products.  So, if you are using the mask for personal use, go ahead and use a larger jar if you would like to.  You can find all of the other jars that we carry by clicking here.  Then, simply mix the mask as you need it.  Since you have not added the water, you will not need a preservative.

For those business owners reselling their products, there are a few benefits to packaging with one jar of powder and one bottle of vegetable glycerin.  First, it is much quicker to create.  It will cut down your labor time.  When preparing eight 2 oz jars it took less than 10 minutes, this also included taking pictures of each step. You will not need to distill your water, add a preservative, and mix everything together.  In addition, there will be much less to clean up.  I wanted to also add that you will get about four masks from each jar.

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Using Your Mask

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe Using Your Mask

First, you will need to mix your mask.  In a small bowl, add one tablespoon of the powder.  Then, add one teaspoon of the vegetable glycerin.  Finally, add about two tablespoons of water.  Mix everything together until it is smooth.  If you need to, you can always add a bit more water if you find it is not smooth.  Then, spread a thin layer over your face.  Allow your mask to harden completely.  This should only take about 10 minutes.  Finally, remove the activated charcoal mask gently using warm water and a washcloth.

Activated Charcoal Facial Mask Recipe My Results

Personally, I loved this mask.  I believe it is my favorite of all that I have tried.  It left my skin feeling clean and refreshed.  Also, the addition of rosemary essential oil left me feeling relaxed and stress free.  Now, I will say, I have what most would call normal skin.  It is neither oily or dry and tends to be blemish free…most of the time anyways.  So, I can’t say whether it would help with blackheads or acne like I have read in articles online.  However, we would love to hear how it leaves your skin looking and feeling.

Lucky Leprechaun Face Mask Recipe Weighing Out the Clays and Powders

IMG_20170131_121814972-2
Step Two:  Now, let go ahead and add your Spirulina Powder.  You will need 32 grams of this green powder.  Spirulina powder not only helps to give the mask its color but also is known to contain many vitamins and minerals.

IMG_20170131_121949300-2
Step Three:  We also added alfalfa powder to this mask.  So, using your scale add 32 grams of your alfalfa leaf powder.

IMG_20170131_122129166_HDR-2
Step Four:  Next, we added spinach leaf powder.  We used 32 grams of the spinach powder.  So, let’s add the 32 grams of the green powder to the mix.  Then, go ahead and mix to combine all of the ingredients.

Step Five:  We also added vitamin E oil.  We used Natures Garden’s Vitamin E oil.  It is the purest form of vitamin E, it is Tocopherol T-50.  It is not tocopherol acetate.  Go ahead use a pipette to add 24 drops of the pure vitamin E oil.

IMG_20170131_122935679-2Step 7:  Next we added Nature’s Garden’s lavender 40/42 essential oil.  So, go ahead and get another transfer pipette.  Add 16 drops of the lavender essential oil.

Lucky Leprechaun Face Mask Recipe Packaging Your Facial Mask

IMG_20170131_122330027_BURST000_COVER_TOP-2Step 8:  Finally, mix all of your powders and oils together.  Once you have them all blended, place the mixture in your jars.  You will need eight of the two ounce clear PET jars.  Then, place a black smooth straight lid 48/400 on each of your jars.  Each 2 ounce jar will allow you to create about 4 facial masks.  Each mask will use about 12 grams of powder.

Lucky Leprechaun Face Mask Recipe Using Your Facial Mask

IMG_20170131_133619294-2Step 9:  When using your Lucky Leprechaun Facial Mask, you will need to mix the powder mixture with vegetable glycerin and water.  However, by keeping it in a powdered mixture, and mixing it with the water as needed, you will not need to add a preservative and it will not require heating.  Plus, it is a nice quick project to add to you line.  One tablespoon is about 12 grams.  You will need to mix it with water and vegetable glycerin.  Mix one tablespoon of the powder with 24 grams, or two tablespoons of water.  Then, add 3 grams, about half a teaspoon of vegetable glycerin.  Mix well, until smooth.

Now, If you plan to sell this product you can use the one ounce clear PET bottles to package the vegetable glycerin.  Also, our black 20/410 flip lids will fit these bottles.  You will need to add about 12 grams of vegetable glycerin in each 1 oz plastic bottle.  You can then sell one two ounce jar along with one of the bottles of vegetable glycerin.

Step 9:  To use your mask apply a thin layer of the mask to your face.  Allow the mask to completely harden.  This will take some time, so have patience, it is well worth the wait!  Then, rinse with warm water.  Use a washcloth to gently remove your facial mask.  Finally, look in the mirror and admire your beauty!

So, go ahead, become one lucky leprechaun this Saint Patrick’s Day!  Are you brave enough to show us pictures of you transforming into a lucky leprechaun!  Show us your before, during, and after pictures by tagging us on Instagram or on our Facebook page at Natures Garden.
