Whipped-Cupcake-SoapMaking Whipped Cupcake Soap

It’s almost spring time, and we’ve all been in the spring mindset here at Nature’s Garden! So we’re bringing you another wonderful free recipe, perfect for the upcoming spring season! We will be making Whipped Cupcake Soap with our Daisy Type Fragrance! This is a unique soap that looks delicious enough to eat, but smells just like a lovely spring morning! This is the perfect twist for anyone who is more into the floral scents but loves yummy looking soaps!

Ingredients for the Base:

1370 grams of Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap

69 grams of Daisy Type Fragrance Oil

Brown Oxide FUN Soap Colorant

Ingredients for the Whipped Top:

300 grams of Whipped Soap Base

300 grams of Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap

34 grams of Vegetable Glycerin

31 grams of Daisy Type Fragrance Oil

10 drops of Neon Pink FUN Soap Colorant

Other Ingredients Needed:

Square Loaf Mold Market Mold

8 oz. Bullet Bottle

Fine Mist Sprayer

Decorating Sprinkles

Toothpicks

Scale

Mixer

Mixing Bowls

Mixing Spoons

Rubbing Alcohol

Pam or other cooking spray

Paper Towels

Directions:

022

You can start to make your soap base by measuring and weighing out 1370 grams of Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap into a mixing bowl. Then spray just a little bit of cooking oil onto a paper towel and wipe it around the inside of your mold. This will make it easier for you to remove the soap in the end. Go ahead and begin to melt down your soap in the microwave, stirring occasionally.

025

When your soap is completely melted, add 69 grams of Daisy Type Fragrance Oil and mix it in thoroughly.

027

Using a toothpick, carefully add just a little bit of the Brown Oxide colorant to your soap, just enough for it to reach a cream color. Mix thoroughly.

030

Once your soap is cream colored and thoroughly mixed, go ahead and carefully pour your soap into your mold. Pour it into the middle of the mold, this will allow the soap to spread more evenly throughout the entire mold. However, make sure your soap is not too hot! If it is too hot, it can warp and ruin your mold!

031

Once you have finished pouring, make sure to spray your soap with rubbing alcohol! The alcohol will work to get rid of any air bubbles that may form. Leave your soap to sit until it has cooled down and hardened.

067

After the soap has hardened, you can weigh out 300 grams of your Whipped Soap Base, and 300 grams of Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour in a separate bowl.

078

Then, take the bowl with the whipped soap and add 34 grams of Vegetable Glycerin, 31 grams of your fragrance oil, and 10 drops of Neon Pink FUN Soap Colorant. Using a hand mixer, mix this all thoroughly together until it becomes very fluffy. Putting the fragrance and glycerin in at this point will make it easier once you are ready to add the melt and pour soap.

083

Then go ahead and melt down your melt and pour soap. Once it is fully melted, add it to the bowl with the whipped base. You will need to move very fast at this point as this sets up extremely fast.

091

Again, using a hand mixer, mix it all together thoroughly and then work fast to pour it onto the top of your soap. Once you have it all on top of your soap, go ahead and sprinkle as many sprinkles as you want across the top.

104

After you have let your soap completely set up and harden, your new Whipped Cupcake Soap is ready to be removed from the mold and cut!  Once cut, it is ready for you to use and enjoy! This deliciously feminine soap is one that all of your friends and family are sure to love! Make sure to check out all the rest of our free recipes and classes! Once your colored soaps have hardened, go ahead and cut up each bar into different shapes. we cut them up into little tiny chunks to make it look more like confetti, but you can cut them into whatever shape and size you want! After they have been cut, mix all of your confetti into a bowl so that you don’t end up with more of one color! Next, spray your cooking oil onto a paper towel and rub it on the inside of your Square Loaf Mold. This will help to make the soap easier to remove once it is finished.

Now you can prepare the bowl with 656 grams of white soap, melting it completely in the microwave. Once it is melted, add 18 grams of Sweet Pea fragrance and mix it together thoroughly. herbs in melt and pour soapHerbs in Melt and Pour Soap

Hello everyone, it’s time for a new creation!! We have created our new Chamomile Clay Soap using dried chamomile flowers & Rhassoul Clay to create a soap that exfoliates your skin while removing toxins! There are many amazing benefits to having herbs in melt and pour soap, especially as they work as an exfoliant for your skin! Chamomile actually helps to make your skin softer, reduce wrinkles and stretch marks, as well as working to heal flaky skin!

Ingredients:

Clay Soap Layer:

120 grams of Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap

6 grams of Watercress and Aloe Fragrance Oil

7 grams of Rhassoul Clay Powder

11 grams of Vegetable Glycerin

Chamomile Flower Layer:

180 grams of Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap

9 grams of Watercress and Aloe Fragrance Oil

10 grams of Whole Chamomile Flowers

Other Ingredients Needed:

Rectangle Dome Top Mold Market Mold

8 oz. Clear Bullet Bottle

White Fine Mist Sprayer 24/410

Rubbing Alcohol

Pam or other cooking spray

Mixing Bowls

Mixing Spoons

Paper Towels

Scale

Directions:

Start by spraying a paper towel with your cooking spray and then gently rubbing your paper towel into your mold. The cooking spray will help to make the soap easier to release from the mold when it is finished. Next, go ahead and weigh out 180 grams of Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap into one bowl, and 120 grams of Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap into another. Then into a third bowl, measure out 7 grams of Rhassoul Clay Powder and 11 grams of Vegetable Glycerin. Mix the clay and glycerin together thoroughly to make a paste.

herbs in melt and pour soap

Take the bowl with the Oatmeal Soap and in the microwave, melt down your soap. When it is fully melted, add your clay and vegetable paste mixture to the melted soap, as well as 6 grams of Watercress and Aloe Fragrance Oil. Make sure to mix it all together thoroughly. Once this is fully mixed together, pour your soap equally into 2 cavities of your mold. (Hint: If you pour into the middle, it will spread out more evenly!) Make sure to spray this layer with rubbing alcohol directly after pouring to defeat any air bubbles! Now let your soap sit, giving it enough time to set up and harden. If you pour the next layer too soon, the separate layers may combine with each other, and you may have brown coming into your clear layer.

Once your first layer has set up, go ahead and melt down your Diamond Clear soap in the microwave. When it is fully melted, add 9 grams of our Watercress and Aloe fragrance. Mix them together thoroughly. Before you pour it however, make sure to once again spray your first layer with rubbing alcohol, this will help each layer to adhere to each other. Then, go ahead and pour your clear layer on top of your brown layer. Once that is poured, you will need to work quickly to add your chamomile. Make sure to get your herbs down into the soap as much as you can, but do it quickly to get them in there before your layer hardens. (We have used 7 grams of chamomile for our soap, but you do not have to! Use as much or as little as you want!) Then leave your soap to sit until it has completely hardened.

Melt and Pour Soap Problems

This entry was posted in bath and body, bath products, melt and pour soap, Natures Garden, soap, Soap making supplies and tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on by .

melt and pour soap problemsMelt and Pour Soap Problems

It’s time to talk about melt and pour soap again! For any new soap makers out there, like me, do you wonder about what some of the problems are? Recently, I have been getting a lot more involved in the soap making process, and even I have had some questions! There are many things that can go wrong, but there are so many ways to easily avoid these problems! For example, did you know that reheating your soap too many times can actually eventually cause the soap to break down?

Have you ever warped a mold? Molds can actually be warped by pouring soap that is too hot. Warping will ruin your mold and you will not be able to use it correctly anymore. When adding fragrance to your soap, first check the recommended usage chart to make sure that it is body safe.  The easiest way to figure out how much to add is by checking the maximum usage rate on our website. For example, our Best Friends scent has a maximum usage rate of 5% for soaps. Now when making your soap, take the weight of soap you’re using overall and multiply it by the 5%, or .05. Now, when mixing in the amount of fragrance, you need to make sure you have mixed it thoroughly. When the scent is not mixed in completely, this can cause your soap to have pockets of pure fragrance or separation. When adding colorant or dye to your soap, always make sure to completely mix them in as well! If not fully mixed, the color will not fully incorporate into your soap, and if using a white base melt and pour soap, you will possibly see streaks of white throughout the color in the finished product. Not fully mixing your color can also cause possible speckles throughout your soap instead of a smooth all-over color.

When making layered melt and pour soaps, the layers need to properly adhere to each other. This can be achieved simply by using rubbing alcohol. After you have poured one layer, make sure to allow it enough time to set up enough that it has cooled down and will not mix into the next layer. To get the layers to adhere, just make sure to spray the first layer with the rubbing alcohol! Make sure to spray each layer with rubbing alcohol right after pouring it as well, so as to get rid of any air bubbles. Once your soap is completely finished, make sure not to remove it from your mold too soon, give it enough time to completely set up and harden! If you remove it too soon, some of the soap may stick in your mold and break apart! Or if you remove it when it is too soft, you can get fingerprints or indents in your soap!

There are many other melt and pour soap problems as well! Once your melt and pour soap is fully set up, make sure to wrap your soap. If a soap is not wrapped, it can absorb any moisture that is in the air, which will cause the soap to sweat. It’s like what happens to a pop can when it sits outside, the condensation builds on the outside, making it sweat! So make sure to wrap your soap right away so that no moisture or air can get to it. Do you know how to properly cut a loaf of soap? To keep your soap from streaking, make sure to turn it on your side and slice it! Do not cut it from the top down! If you have any other questions about melt and pour soap problems, please contact us! And keep watching for more Enlightened by Layla!

4 Mixing Bowls

Mixing Spoons

Directions:

First, you’ll want to start by measuring and weighing out 120 grams of Hemp Oil Melt and Pour Soap into each bowl. Each bowl will become a different layer for your soap. Then take your first bowl and begin to melt down the soap in the microwave until it is fully melted. When it is melted, add 12 drops of Neon Blue FUN Soap Colorant, 6 grams of Best Friends Fragrance Oil, and 6 grams of Vanilla White Color Stabilizer. Mix it together very thoroughly. Once it is fully mixed, pour your soap into your molds about ¼ of the way full, leaving enough room for the other colors. To make it more straight across, make sure to pour the soap into the middle of the mold and letting it move to the edges itself. Then make sure to spray it with rubbing alcohol. This will get rid of any air bubbles that may form. Then let that layer sit.

Once the blue layer has sat and hardened, put your second bowl of soap into the microwave and completely melt it down. Once it is melted, add 15 drops of Ultramarine Violet FUN Soap Colorant, 6 grams of fragrance, and 6 grams of stabilizer. Mix together thoroughly. Before you pour in the purple layer, make sure to once again spray the blue layer with alcohol so the layers will successfully adhere to each other. Then carefully pour the purple on top of the blue, filling the mold another ¼ full. Spray this layer with alcohol to defeat the air bubbles and let it sit.

Once that layer has sat, repeat the same process for the next two layers! Don’t forget to spray each layer before adding the next so that they will adhere to each other! And also make sure to remember to let each layer sit and harden before adding the next! Once you have finished your last layer, make sure to let the soap sit in the mold, giving it time to harden. Then your new Easter Egg Soap is ready to enjoy!

Be creative! You do not have to do the layers in the exact order we have! Do whatever your heart desires! Enjoy this awesome recipe and make sure to check out all the rest of our free recipes and classes as well! Keep watching for more Enlightened by Layla!
