Margarita Salt Scrub Recipe Clean and Sanitize

Before you begin, you will want to make sure everything is sanitized and ready to use for your craft. First, make sure all that the stove and counter top are cleaned off. This ensures that you will have plenty of room to create this scrub. Also, gather all of your equipment and make sure to sanitize every last piece. Further, consider wearing gloves, protective clothing, and a hair net to keep your skin and recipe safe throughout this process.

Margarita Salt Scrub Recipe Making the Double Boiler

Now, you will want to know how to create a double boiler before we begin creating this scrub recipe. If you already know how to create this melting contraption, then feel free to begin the recipe. However, those that aren’t sure how to put this together can read through a brief yet detailed instruction on how to create a double boiler with two household pots. Further, the double boiler is crucial to preventing your butters and oils from scorching, which makes it important to know how to make this device.

Initially, you will find your small pot and your medium pot. The larger pot will contain the boiling water and the smaller pot will contain the ingredients that you intend to melt. First, add about an inch of water to the medium pot to start. Then, place your smaller pot inside the medium pot. You will need to adjust the water level so that it is at least touching the bottom of the small pot, but the water can’t be high enough where it could boil over into the melting oils or butters. Finally, you can turn on the stove top and add your ingredients to the small pot.

Margarita Salt Scrub Recipe Melting The Oils and ButtersMargarita Salt Scrub Recipe Melting The Oils and Butters

First, you are going to be melting the necessary oils and butters for this recipe. So, find a scale and tare the weight of one of your mixing bowls. Now, weigh 136 grams of Coconut Oil – 76, 113 grams of Avocado Oil, 74 grams of Mango Butter, 62 grams of Shea Butter, 50 grams of Emulsifying Wax Traditional, 20 grams of Jojoba Oil, and 12 grams of Beeswax White Pastilles into one of your mixing bowls. Next, you can add these ingredients to your previously prepared double boiler. Make sure to occasionally stir as your ingredients melt to ensure that they don’t burn.

Margarita Salt Scrub Recipe Adding Ingredients After Melting Margarita Salt Scrub Recipe Adding Ingredients After Melting

After your oils and butters melt,  you will be creating your colorant to add into the mix. So, weigh out 2 grams of Lemon Peel Powder and 14 grams of Vegetable Glycerin into your small mixing bowl. Then, add the 15 drops of the Lime Green FUN Soap Colorant. Mix the ingredients in this small bowl well enough to incorporate everything and create a paste consistency. Finally, allow the oils and butters to cool to about 120 degrees Fahrenheit and add the colorant paste to your melted oils and butters. Again, mix this well.

Also, you will be adding a few of the remaining ingredients to your mixture. So, weigh 5 grams of Optiphen Preservative, 5 grams of Vitamin E Oil, 121 grams of Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, and 20 grams of Margarita Fragrance Oil. Now, stir this mixture to incorporate everything that has been added.

Margarita Salt Scrub Recipe Adding the Dead Sea Salt

Next, you will be adding the finely ground dead sea salt to your initial mixture of all the other ingredients. So, retrieve a second medium mixing bowl and your gram scale. Tare the bowl weight and weigh out 680 grams of the Dead Sea Salt Fine Ground into the new, clean mixing bowl. Then, pour your liquid mixture into your weighed dead sea salt. Also, you should be mixing to incorporate as your pour. Once everything is mixed together well, move on to the next step.

Margarita Salt Scrub Recipe Finishing Touches on the Scrub

After everything is mixed together, it is time to finish up making this salt scrub. First, let your finished scrub cool to room temperature. Next, gather your 4 oz. PET jars and get them ready for transfer. So, scoop up your scrub with your spatula and fill up each of your eight jars. Also, you could pour the scrub into your jars if that method feels more comfortable. Finally, you are ready to add your dome lids. Now, your salt scrub is complete and ready for your to use!
