Remember to spray this soap with alcohol as well.

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe

IMG_20170208_100059345-2Natures Garden’s Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe is a layered soap recipe.  This melt and pour soap project incorporates both activated charcoal powder and poppy seeds.  In addition, it has a beautiful sparkle to the top layer.  This was created by incorporating diamond dust mica pigment.  We used our diamond clear melt and pour soap along with Blackened Amethyst Fragrance Oil.  This soap not only looks beautiful, it also provides exfoliation with the addition of poppy seeds.  Finally, activated charcoal was added due to its detoxifying properties.

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Ingredients found at Natures Garden

Measuring Spoon (1/8 teaspoon)
Rubbing Alcohol
Scale
Microwave

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Before You Begin

Prior to starting, we recommend wearing an apron, gloves, and a hair net.  Also, clean and sanitize your work station.  In addition, do the same with your mixing utensils and other supplies you will be using.  You will need to prepare a bottle of rubbing alcohol.  Fill your bullet bottle with rubbing alcohol and place a fine mist sprayer on top.  Make sure you have all of your supplies and equipment out and ready to begin.

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Prepare Your Colorant

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Prepare Your ColorantFirst, we will prepare our colorant.  The colorant will be used in the first layer of melt and pour soap.  For this step you will need a small mixing dish, a mixing spoon, your scale, activated charcoal, diamond dust mica pigment, 1/8 teaspoon measuring spoon, and finally your vegetable glycerin.  Now, make sure your scale is set to weight in grams.  In the small mixing bowl, add 1 gram of activated charcoal, 14 grams of vegetable glycerin, and just 1/8 teaspoon of your diamond dust mica pigment.  Lastly, mix them all together until you have a smooth consistency.

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Preparing the First Layer of Soap

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Preparing the First Layer of SoapOnce again you will need your scale.  Additionally, you will need the diamond clear melt and pour soap base, your Blackened Amethyst Fragrance Oil, a medium sizes bowl, a mixing spoon, your microwave, and the colorant you prepared in the previous step.  First, weigh out 517 grams of the clear soap base.  Next, use the microwave to melt the soap base.  You want to heat the base in 30 seconds bursts until it is melted.  Be careful not to over-heat it.  You only need to get the soap to a liquid state.

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Preparing the First Layer of Soap

Once your clear base is melted, add 26 grams of Blackened Amethyst Fragrance Oil.  Then, add the activated charcoal soap colorant you prepared.  Finally stir the base to completely mix the fragrance and color throughout the melted soap.

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Pouring the First Layer of Soap

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Pouring the First Layer of SoapNext, you will need your bottle of rubbing alcohol, your melted soap base, and your small rectangle tray soap mold.  Now, pour the melted soap into the mold.  You will want to pour slowly, avoiding the edges of the mold.  I always find it easier to pour in the center to avoid splashing the edges of the mold.  This is important because it is a layered mp soap.  If you get the charcoal soap along the edges of the mold, it will show up on the edges of the next layer.  Once the soap is setup, you will be able to see the dark soap on the clear layer.  When you are finished pouring your melted soap, spray it with rubbing alcohol.  Rubbing alcohol will release any air bubbles in the soap.  Finally, allow the soap to setup completely before moving to the next step.

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Preparing and Pouring the Second Layer of Soap

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Preparing and Pouring the Second Layer of Soap

The next layer will be a completely clear layer of soap.  However, we chose to add poppy seeds to this layer.  Not only does it look awesome, it also acts as an exfoliant.  So, for this step you will need your mold containing the soap, poppy seeds, clear melt and pour soap, your scale, microwave, and rubbing alcohol.  First, you will need about 7 grams of poppy seeds.  Then, to soap setup in the mold, spread a thin layer of poppy seeds.  You will want to make sure the poppy seeds are evenly dispersed throughout the mold.

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Preparing and Pouring the Second Layer of Soap

Then, weigh out and melt 258 grams of your clear soap base.  Once melted spray you previous, setup layer, with rubbing alcohol.  Your rubbing alcohol not only helps release air bubbles, it will also help the soap adhere to the previous layer.  Once you have sprayed your soap, go ahead and pour the melted clear soap right on top.  Finally, spray the soap with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles.  Then, let the mp soap setup completely before moving on.  You will notice some of your poppy seeds will stay in between the layers of the soap, and some will float and disperse throughout your clear layer.

I would also like to point out one final thing.  You will notice we chose not to scent this soap layer.  When working with a clear soap base, some fragrance oils can cloud the base.  We did not want to risk obstructing the visual effect of the poppy seed.  So, we chose to leave it unscented.  However, our final soap still has a nice strong blackened amethyst aroma.

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Cutting the Soap

Activated Charcoal Soap Recipe Cutting the SoapIn this step you will need your setup soap and a mitre box cutter.  First, flip your mold containing the soap over on a table.  Then, press gently on the bottom of your rectangle soap mold.  Your soap should come out of the mold without any trouble.  Now, notice the lines in your soap?  These lines make cutting the soap a breeze.  Simply use the soap cutter to cut along the lines.  Once your soap is cut, you will have fifteen 2 ounce bars of activated charcoal soap.

We hope that you like this shimmering activated charcoal soap recipe.  For even more fragrance fun check out even more candle, soap, and cosmetic recipes and classes available from Natures Garden Soap Making Supplies at this link.  Also, be sure to tag us on Instagram and Twitter @ngscents showing us what you’ve created!  You can also post picture on our Facebook page!  We just love seeing what our customers have created!

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Melting Your Melt and Pour Soap

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Melting Your Melt and Pour SoapFor the first step you will want to use a medium, microwave safe bowl. Use a scale to weigh out and cut up 413 grams of Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap. This can be melted in a microwave for a minute or so. Make sure you don’t put in for too long because you don’t want your soap to get too hot. Getting your soap too hot could happen very easily if you leave the soap unattended so be sure to watch as you microwave. We suggest that you take the soap out periodically and mix it to prevent this. While there may be some soap chunks remaining in the bowl, the soap may be hot enough to melt the soap chunks as you mix. If it isn’t hot enough, then stick it back in the microwave for a few more seconds and try again. Note that for the next few steps you will want to move a bit faster because the soap will begin to set up as it cools.

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Scenting Your Melt and Pour Soap

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Scenting Your Melt and Pour SoapFor your second step you will be adding Natures Garden’s Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Fragrance Oil to your already melted soap. Using your gram scale, add 4 grams of the Goodie Goodie Gum Drops Fragrance Oil to your medium sized bowl of melted diamond clear melt and pour soap. Be sure that you do not add more than 4 grams of this fragrance because it has a body safe limit of 1% of the weight for the total recipe. Mix the fragrance oil in quickly and get ready to separate the soap into the small four bowls. If your melt and pour soap begins to set up, you can add it to the microwave for a few seconds. However, it cannot become too hot or the fragrance oil will burn off! So, you will need to be quick and ready to go.

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Separate Your Melt and Pour Soap

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Separate Your Melt and Pour SoapFor the next step you will be taking your medium sized bowl to equally divide the melted soap into four small bowls. Each of your bowls will be used to create one of four different colors from the scrumptious gumdrop soaps. Now, using your scale, weigh out approximately 103 grams of the scented melt and pour soap in each bowl.

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Color Your Melt and Pour Soap

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Color Your Green Soap

Next, we will be adding various Fun Soap Colorants to the bowls. This will create a variety of colored gumdrops! First, you will be creating some great green goodie gumdrop soaps! Take one of your previously weighed small bowls of melt and pour soap. Next, add 4 drops of our neon green fun soap colorant. This will give your soap a bright green candy color. Now, stir until the fun soap colorant has been evenly distributed throughout the melted soap. Pour the green soap into the first row of the gumdrop mold and spray with alcohol. Make sure that any soap that is remaining on top of the mold is wiped away to prevent the other gumdrops from color transfer.

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Color Your Pink Soap

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Color Your Melt and Pour SoapNext, you are going to create your pretty pink gumdrop soaps! Take your next small bowl that has 103 grams of melt and pour soap. Stir in 2 drops of our neon pink fun soap colorant. Also, add 2 drops of our ultramarine violet fun soap colorant. After the dye has been mixed in evenly to create a vibrant pink hue, pour the soap into the second row of the gumdrop mold. Spray your pink soap with alcohol and wipe the excess soap from the top of the mold.

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Color Your Blue Soap

Now, it’s is time for you to create your scrumptious blue gumdrop candy melt and pour soap! Take another small bowl of melted soap. Now, stir in 5 drops of the neon blue fun soap colorant. Also, add 1 drop of the ultramarine violet fun soap colorant. Once the dye has been mixed in well, pour the soap into the third row of the mold and spray this row with alcohol.  Also, wipe any soap poured above the indent.

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Color Your Orange Soap

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Color Your Melt and Pour SoapFinally, you will be making the fantastic orange gumdrop soap! Grab one of the small bowls of melted soap. Stir in 8 drops of neon orange fun soap colorant. Once all of the melt and pour soap is evenly orange, pour the soap into the last row of the gumdrop mold. Spray the final row with alcohol and be sure that the orange melt and pour soap can’t get into another row.

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Unmolding Your Melt and Pour Soaps

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Unmolding Your Melt and Pour SoapsNow it’s time to play the waiting game for a few minutes. Although it doesn’t take too long to set up, you must make sure that the melt and pour soap has completely set up. If you wish to speed up the soap’s cooling process, you have the option to move your filled soap mold to your refrigerator. Just make sure that your soaps are set up just enough on the top to be able to move the mold without creating ripples on the top of your soaps. You can tell whether they’re ready by watching the tops and slowly moving. If it looks too liquid, wait longer. Eventually, the soap will be entirely set up, either on its own or with some help from the fridge, and you will be able to pop the cute little melt and pour candy soaps out of the gumdrop mold.

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Sweetening Your Melt and Pour Soaps

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Sweetening Your Melt and Pour SoapsAs a final step you can use some white, granulated sugar to make your melt and pour soaps look more realistic. This is the step that really makes these little candy soaps look realistic! Adding sugar doesn’t reduce the quality of the soap, as the sugar can wash right off before use. Now, spread a nice layer of your white cane sugar on a plate. Then, spray one of your gumdrops with some rubbing alcohol to get the sugar to stick to the soap better. Now you can lightly roll the sprayed gumdrop soap in the white sugar to get an even coat on the little soap. You can repeat the spraying and rolling steps with the other melt and pour gumdrop soaps.

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops Soap Recipe Sweetening Your Melt and Pour SoapsFinally, this should leave you with the finished product of sixteen irresistibly cute gumdrop melt and pour soaps! These sweet little soaps are ready to use but, so cute that you may not want to wash them away. Instead, you may decide to use these sweet candy soaps to decorate your home. These little melt and pour goodies would be perfect with the round silicone cupcake molds as your soap dish! On the other hand, you could attempt to trick a friend into trying the candy scented soap, since these soaps are just realistic enough to work. Just don’t let them actually eat them! Regardless of how you intend to use these festive holiday melt and pour soaps, they are guaranteed to add a bit of holiday cheer to your home.

Also, soy wax products can be made with a nice, strong scent. If you want to color your products with this fragrance oil, then we would like to suggest that you should use either seven drops of red liquid candle dye per four pounds of wax or a small amount of shredded red color block. Just remember that crayons should not be expected to work the same as candle dyes as they will clog your wick.

How Do Our Customers Use Strawberries and Cream Fragrance Oil in Bath and Body Recipes?

Our customers can use this sweet fragrance oil to create their own bath and body products. Bath oils, bath gels, soaps, lotions, perfumes, bath bombs, and other related products can all include up to 5% of this fragrance oil. Additionally, household cleaning products can be scented with up to and no more than 5% of this fragrance oil.

Both cold process soap recipes and melt and pour soap recipes can be created with this aroma. Our Cold Process Soap Testing Results have shown exactly how this sweet fragrance oil works in soap making from scratch. Soap batter that includes this scent will have no acceleration and no ricing. While this soap separates, it will reabsorb into the bar during the curing process. Also, this soap batch will have a good scent retained and the bars will have a light brown discoloration. When coloring your bath and body products we would suggest that you use red liquid soap colorant. Whether you follow our suggestion or go with a different method, you shouldn’t include any candle dyes as they aren’t body safe.

We hope that you enjoy this sugary sweet strawberry scent in your own creations and products.
