Common Melt and Pour Soap QuestionsCommon Melt and Pour Soap Questions

At Natures Garden, we are here to help you succeed! We are going to answer some common melt and pour soap questions that we get asked frequently by customers.  Since these questions are common, its likely that these are the issues most soap makers will come across when making their melt and pours soaps. So, let’s get these soaping issues solved so you can create some gorgeous bars of mp soap!

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Does Natures Garden Offer Melt and Pour Soap Supplies?

Yes, we do! We offer all kinds of melt and pour soap making supplies! Click on the Soap Making Supplies tab on the website and you will find soap base, soap colorants, an mp soap kit, soap additives, and soap molds. Everything that you could need right in one easy place!

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Can I Make Soap Without Using Lye?

Since the mp soap base has already been made, you can create melt and pour soap without worrying about the lye. If you are wondering “What is the difference between melt and pour soap and cold process soap?”, then this is a big difference. While melt and pour is pre-made and can be remelted, cold process soap is made from scratch using lye.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Can Melt and Pour Soap Be Used Right Away?

Since mp soap was already made and the saponification process has already taken place, you don’t have to wait to use your soap. As soon as the melt and pour soaps have hardened in the molds, you can pop them out and use them!

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Where Do I Find the Melt and Pour Soap IngredientsCommon Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Where Do I Find the Melt and Pour Soap Ingredients?

You can find the soap base ingredients in two places. The first place is online, as each mp soap base has the ingredients listed in the description. Also, these ingredients can be found on the label of the base itself.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: What Soap Making Supplies Do I Need to Make Melt and Pour Soap?

Most importantly, you will need a microwave or double boiler and mp soap. Also, you will need a cutting board, knife, a microwave safe dish, spoon, rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle, and a soap mold. If you want fragrance, color, or herbs you will need to have these out, too .

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: How Do I Melt Soap Into a New Bar?

Melt and Pour soap can be melted using a double boiler on a stove top or a bowl in the microwave. Just make sure that you use 30 second intervals to warm the soap int the microwave. Otherwise, it may get too hot and your soap will be ruined. Also, make sure that you are watchful when melting soap on the stove. While a double boiler on medium heat will help to protect your soap, you don’t want to heat it too much longer after it is liquid.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: How Much Soap Will I Need for My Mold?Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: How Much Soap Will I Need for My Mold?

For every ounce by volume that your mold is you will need 31 grams of soap by weight. So, let’s go to the Soap Mold page and pick one. I choose Ollie Octopus, which says it holds 4.5 ounces in the description. So, we are going to take  4.5 times the 31 to give us 139.5 grams

Formula: (Weight Needed Per Ounce) x (Ounces Mold Holds) = Total Weight

Equation: 31 grams per ounce  x  4.5 ounces = 139.5 grams of soap

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: How Do I Get My Melt and Pour Soap Out of the Mold?

Sometimes your soap may get stuck in the mold. You can place the mold in the fridge for a short amount of time. Once the chilled soap mold is removed, the soaps should pop out fairly easily.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: What Temperature Should I Pour Melt and Pour Soap?

Melt and Pour soap should be poured in a liquid state, which should be around 140 degrees Fahrenheit. So, you can pour your soap once it has all completely melted.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Why Do I Have Bubbles in My Melt and Pour Soap?Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Why Do I Have Bubbles in My Melt and Pour Soap?

Although making air bubbles is unavoidable, you can get rid of them by spraying lightly with rubbing alcohol. These are often air bubbles that form when you pour, so you can release them by spraying right after you pour. However, bubbles that are a light-yellow color are fragrance oil and won’t go away by spraying. This is either due to adding too much fragrance oil or not mixing thoroughly.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Why is My Homemade Soap So Oily?

One reason that you soaps would be oily is that they contain too much oil. So, you can try reducing the amount of the fragrance oil and/or the carrier oil that you are adding to your soaps. If your bars look like they are sweating, then it could be due to not wrapping the soap soon enough. Since your soap contains an ingredient, vegetable glycerin, that pulls moisture to it, it will pull moisture out of the air to create “sweat”. But, you can lessen your chances of this by wrapping your soaps right after they are out of the mold.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Why is My Melt and Pour Soap Dissolving So Fast?

While a softer bar of soap is great for nourishing the skin, it is more likely to dissolve quickly in water. So, you can add some extra oil to your soap to moisturize. However, adding too much will make your bar very soft and it will dissolve quickly in the shower.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: How Do I Swirl Melt and Pour Soap?Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: How Do I Swirl Melt and Pour Soap?

While it is possible to swirl mp soap, it is a bit trickier to swirl compared to cp soaps. On its own melt and pour soap won’t swirl. Instead, the colors will mix before the soap hardens. So, you need to add a cosmetic powder, like clay, fruit, or veggie powders. This will slightly thicken the soap and create tension between the two colors that are gong to create the swirl. We did this in our own Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe!

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Why Won’t My Melt and Pour Soap Lather?

There are a few possible answers to this question. First off, soap can loose its lather due to an excess of oils and herbs being added to the bar. Also, some types of our soap base use ingredients that naturally lather better.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Why is My Soap Not Hardening?

If your melt and pour soap isn’t hardening, then it could be due to adding too much oil. Whether the culprit is fragrance oil, carrier oil, or both, it is most likely that this excess oil is to blame. Another possibility is that the soap was overheated, which resulted in a break down in the soaps that prevents it from working properly.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Can You Use Essential Oils in Melt and Pour Soap?

Of course! Many essential oils can be used in soap making and the rules for using them safely are just like the ones for fragrance oils. So, you need to check the IFRA sheet to determine usage rates and figure out whether the specific essential oil is body safe. You can find this IFRA statement on the page of each individual essential oil that we carry. Many are body safe scents, but some are not considered safe for prolonged skin contact.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: How Do I Color Melt and Pour Soap?Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: How Do I Color Melt and Pour Soap?

We have soap dye, soap colorants, and powdered herbs that can be used to color your homemade soaps. The soap dyes are great for solid color soaps, but tend to bleed when used in layered soap. Also, the white soap base will provide a more pastel color and the clear soap will give a more true color. The FUN Soap Colorants are vibrant colors that are more true in all soap bases. Lastly, the natural form of coloring soaps is cosmetic herbs, which are perfect for a rustic or natural look. Just be aware that herbs can oxidize over time and cause discoloration of the soap.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Do You Offer Melt and Pour Soap Recipes?

Of course! We have a wide variety of melt and pour soap recipes and soap making ideas. On the top of the website you will see a box with the words “Free Recipes & Classes”. After you click on this fine the melt and pour soap recipes and you will find all of our recipes using mp soap.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Does Natures Garden Offer Soap Making Kits?

Yes! We have the Melt and Pour Soap Kit available with options to choose either Goats Milk MP Soap or Ultra Clear MP Soap.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Why Won’t My Soap Frosting Setup on My Melt and Pour Soap?Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Why Won’t My Soap Frosting Setup on My Melt and Pour Soap?

If you are making cupcake soap wholesale, then the frosting is a pretty big deal. You are going to want to use the whipped soap base, melt and pour soap, and vegetable glycerin. The soap base allows the frosting to harden on the cupcake, while the vegetable glycerin allows for a little flexibility.  If you are curious and thinking, “How do I make melt and pour soap frosting?”, then check out our Soap Frosting Recipe to see how we make the frosting for our soap cupcakes. While the recipe goes into more detail, basically it is equal parts of mp soap base and whipped soap base with 5% of vegetable glycerin and fragrance oil all whipped into a frosting consistency.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: I Would Like to Know If Most Recipes are Showing Oils Measured in Weight Ounces Or in Fluid Ounces?

In our soap recipes we will use weight ounces. We do this because weight ounces are more accurate than fluid ounces. So, we highly recommend weighing your ingredients using a gram scale. This will allow you to be precise in your measurements and prevent accidental mix ups.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: What is the Best Way to Wrap Melt and Pour Soap?

There are a few different ways that you can package your finished soaps. We prefer to use shrink wrap, but you can use ziplock bags, or a decorative box.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: How Should Soap Be Stored?

After your soap is wrapped, you can store it in a cool, dry place for later use.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Does Natures Garden Offer Any Melt and Pour Soap Recipes with Shea Butter?Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: Does Natures Garden Offer Any Melt and Pour Soap Recipes with Shea Butter?

We sure do! If you go to the Shea Butter Melt and Pour Soap page of the website and click on the Recipe tab, you will see all kinds of melt and pour soap recipes. For example, we have the Zebra Print Soap Recipe and the Graffiti Melt and Pour Soap Recipe that both use shea butter mp soap.

Common Melt and Pour Soap Questions: History of Soap

Today, there are all kinds of different types of soap from melt and pour soap recipes to commercially made soaps. However, the first soaps ever made weren’t too fancy. In fact, the first known use of soap was by ancient Babylonians that used animal fats and ashes as their ingredients. Once you reach a whipped cream consistency, then you can set this mixture aside momentarily.

Now, you are going to need to prepare the melt and pour soap for your whipped topping. Weigh out 150 grams of the Soya Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base in a separate bowl. Then, melt the soap in the microwave using thirty second intervals. Once your soap is melted you are going to add it to your whipped soap mixture. But, make sure you are ready to move quickly after this point. After adding the mp soap, use your hand mixer to get the mixture to a frosting consistency.

Finally, you are ready to add your whipped topping to your soap loaf. First, lightly spray the top of your layered soap with rubbing alcohol. Then, you can begin to add your whipped soap topping to your soap. Make sure to move quickly enough that your soap doesn’t set up before it is added to the top. Once the top of your soap is covered, you are ready to decorate!

Lastly, you are ready to decorate the top of your soap. You will want to sprinkle both your red and blue Epsom salt sprinkles over the top of your soap. Also, add your embed starts and blue curls. We chose to add two blue curls on either side of each red star, but you can decorate them in a different way if you’d like. After you have your soap decorated and the whipped topping has set up, you can remove your soap from the mold and begin cutting it into bars.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap MakingNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making

These herbal ingredients are great soap supplies because they are natural and have great benefits for the skin!

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: What is an Exfoliator?

We know that an exfoliant is an ingredient that some bath and body products have, but what does it do? Well, these exfoliating products contain an ingredient or two that makes them more scrubby. This means that the product will be able to help remove grime and dead skin cells. Basically, an exfoliant is just another way to say skin scrubber! It removes that outer layer of bad stuff that would just get in the way and it leaves the living cells fresh and open for your skin loving bath and body products.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Cosmetic ClaysNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Cosmetic Clays

If you are looking for a gentle and sensitive way to exfoliate your skin, then a cosmetic clay is the way to go. Plus, clay powder is safe to use in facial recipes, as it is gentle enough to care for your face.  So, anyone wondering “How to exfoliate dry skin on face?” should know that this is a great option! These wonderful ingredients are perfect homemade soap making supplies for removing dead skin without causing any harm. After the dead skin is moved out of the way, your product will be able to nourish the new layers below.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Bentonite Clay Powder

First, we have the lovely Bentonite Clay Powder for your all natural homemade soap recipes. Not only is this cosmetic clay a light exfoliant, but it is great for helping your soap glide. This glide is due to the slippery texture this soapmaking clay gets when its wet. One soap that benefited from this property was the Moonlight Tuberose Swirled Soap Recipe, which uses an abundance of different clays to swirl the melt and pour soap.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Rhassoul Clay PowderNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Rhassoul Clay Powder

Another great choice for your soap-making is the Rhassoul Clay Powder. This clay is full of skin-loving minerals and is perfect for helping to cleanse the skin. We used this cosmetic clay in our own recipe, which is the Chamomile Clay Soap Recipe.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Dead Sea Clay PowderNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Dead Sea Clay Powder

Next, you could try out the Dead Sea Clay Powder in your soap recipes. This cosmetic clay is amazing for the skin, as it exfoliates dead skin as well as helps to remove toxins. Further, this soap-making ingredient is full of vitamins and minerals that provide your skin with nourishment. We included this clay in the Mechanics Soap Recipe.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Kaolin White Clay PowderNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Kaolin White Clay Powder

If you have sensitive skin, then Kaolin White Clay Powder is perfect for you. This cosmetic clay is gentle is perfect for removing toxins and dead skin from your body. We used this gentle clay in our Swirled Melt and Pour Soap Recipe, but you can use this ingredient in any kind of bar soap and many kinds of natural cosmetics.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Red Moroccan Clay PowderNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Red Moroccan Clay Powder

Also, you can try out our Red Moroccan Clay Powder. This cosmetic clay is one of the purest forms of clay ever found. Not only does it gently exfoliate, but this cosmetic herb is able to remove toxins from the skin and moisturize! So, this is an amazing ingredient to add to home made soaps.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: French Green Clay PowderNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: French Green Clay Powder

The French Green Clay Powder is most commonly used by health professionals and spas for treating skin conditions, nourishing the skin, and removing impurities. Much of the nutrients for your skin comes from the composition of the clay, which is partially plant material. So, this clay is wonderful for skin care and nourishment.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Rose Clay PowderNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Rose Clay Powder

Pink Clay, or Rose Clay Powder, is another gentle cosmetic clay that contains kaolin, so it is perfect for caring for sensitive skin. Plus, this soaping ingredient is useful for exfoliation, drawing out toxins, and reducing irritation and inflammation. Further, this pretty clay adds a gorgeous, natural color to your homemade soaps.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Whole Flowers and HerbsNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Whole Flowers and Herbs

There are many herbs that you can use to exfoliate your body. Some are more on the abrasive side and others are more delicate, but they all can be used to remove the outer layer of junk on your skin that you just don’t need. Although you can find all of the herbs you need under the Herbs & Spices tab of the NG site, we would like to share some of our favorite herbs to use as exfoliants in our homemade bath and body recipes. Depending on certain properties, like hardness, the exfoliating herbs may have different levels of effectiveness.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Poppy Seeds Whole

On great herb that you can use to create strong scrubs is the Poppy Seeds Whole. These seeds are hard enough to get a good scrub, which is perfect for feet and hands. Also, many people prefer this to salt for their more abrasive scrub recipes because you can use less and get similar results. This means less scrubby feeling with the same benefits. If you want to try this herb in soaps, then check out our Peppered Poppy Seed Cold Process Soap Recipe.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Juniper Berries Whole

Another fun herb that you can add to your homemade soaps is Juniper Berries Whole. These seeds are similar to the poppy seeds in abrasiveness, but they are a bit larger. The size can be used for a different appearance or to increase the exfoliation slightly. While the poppy seeds have a hard protective shell, these larger berries are hard and will be able to exfoliate a bit better. You could use this herb in your feet scrubs instead, or you could even add some of these berries to a recipe that used poppy seeds, too.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Calendula Flowers Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Calendula Flowers

Also, you can use Calendula Flowers in your handcrafted soaps for a lovely, light exfoliant. This is perfect for providing a lighter exfoliation for the body. Plus, this herb has some added benefits of nutrients that are useful for nourishing the skin. We used this lovely herb in our Calendula Swirl Soap Recipe, which is both for decoration and to provide a soft exfoliation for the body.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Lavender Flowers WholeNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Lavender Flowers Whole

Next, we have a fragrant herb that is great for exfoliation, which is the delightful Lavender Flowers Whole. These flower buds provide a more gentle exfoliation that would be perfect for the body. So, your body will feel and smell great! We included this lovely herb in our own recipes like the Lavender Luxury Cold Process Soap Recipe where we sprinkled Lavender Flowers Whole and Rose Petals Pink on top to provide a surface for exfoliation. Just note that incorporating this flower buds into your cold process soap recipes could result in the lavender turning a brown color. They are still good to use, but they may not match your colors.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Cosmetic SaltNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Fine Cosmetic Salt

Also, you can add on of our cosmetic salts to provide an exfoliant in your homemade soaps. These are on the abrasive side so be sure that you are using your soap on an area that is not sensitive. You can use Hawaiian Black Salt Fine Ground, Himalayan Pink Salt Fine Ground. or Dead Sea Salt High Minerals Fine Ground to add some nice exfoliating power to your homemade recipes. We have used fine ground salt in recipes like the Total Hot Man CP Soap Recipe and it turned out great!

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Ingredients from Around the HouseNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Ingredients from Around the House

While there are many wonderful cosmetic grade ingredients at Natures Garden that you can include in your home made soap recipes, there are some ingredients you can find around the house that are perfect for exfoliation. If you don’t have a specific herb in mind, then you might as well try out the idea with something from home. There are even some instances where these house hold ingredients pair perfectly with your fragrance oil. Take a look at our ideas for homemade exfoliants and see what you think!

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Oatmeal Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Oatmeal

One way that you can have a soap that exfoliates naturally is by adding oatmeal. Embedding a bit of this ingredient into your soap will help you to scrub dead skin and toxins from your skin. Plus, you can change the intensity of the scrubbing power by different amounts of grinding. This means that coarse ground oatmeal will be more scrubby than fine ground oatmeal, which would be very mild.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Coffee Grounds

Another way to naturally exfoliate is by adding fresh ground coffee to your recipe. We did this in our Coffee Melt and Pour Soap Recipe and it turned out great.  Not only do the coffee grounds provide some mild exfoliation power, but the scent blends beautifully with the fragrance oil. We included a Fresh Brewed Coffee Fragrance Oil along with the real coffee ground and was blown away by the authenticity of the scent.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Granulated Sugar Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Granulated Sugar

Next, you can use some granulated sugar in your various homemade soap recipes. While this ingredient won’t make your scrubs as abrasive as a salt scrub, the sugar is great for exfoliation! One melt and pour recipe idea we had with this ingredient is the Gumdrop Melt and Pour Soap Recipe, which make it lightly exfoliating and looking cute!

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Coconut FlakesNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Coconut Flakes

Another fun idea for exfoliants is using coconut flakes in your homemade soap recipes. This would be perfect for soaps that use tropical fragrance oils, like the Coconut Craziness Fragrance Oil or the Coco Mango Fragrance Oil. This natural exfoliant would pair perfectly with these scents to create a perfect tropical themed soap.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Natural LoofahNatural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Natural Loofah

Also, you can include your own loofah in your homemade soap recipes. This is perfect for creating homemade body soap. If you don’t have one yet, you could buy a Natural Loofah from the Natures Garden website. We included our loofahs in a few melt and pour soap ideas. Both the Loofah Honey Melt and Pour Soap Recipe and the Mango Loofah Melt and Pour Soap Recipe are great soap recipe for exfoliating dead skin while cleaning!

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Sanitize and Prepare

Before you begin creating your soap, you will want to make sure that your equipment and work space are ready. So, clean off and sanitize a table or counter top that you can work on. Also, make sure that your equipment, including your microwave, is clean and ready to use. Another important preparation of Melt and Pour Soap is getting the spray bottle of rubbing alcohol ready to use. Finally, we would suggest that you wear gloves, protective clothing, and a hair net while preparing this recipe.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Graham Cracker Crust LayerPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Graham Cracker Crust Layer

First, we are going to create the Graham Cracker Crust Layer for our melt and pour soap. This will be the first layer that we will pour and it will be the bottom layer of our pistachio pudding soap. Also, you will want to get your soap mold ready before we begin melting this first layer. This way your soap won’t set up before you can get the mold ready.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Crust Layer’s Weights and Amounts

93 grams Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap
4 grams Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil
4 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer
6 drops Yellow Oxide FUN Soap Colorant
2 drops Brown Oxide FUN Soap Colorant

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Melting the Ingredients

Now, you are going to need to weigh the 95 grams of cocoa butter melt and pour soap base. Once you have your soap ready, you are going to use the microwave to melt you soap using 30 second intervals. You will need to check and stir to ensure that your soap doesn’t boil. Once your soap is in a liquid state you are ready to move on to the next step.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Adding the Fragrance Oil

After your soap has melted you are going to add the scented oil. So, weigh and mix in the 4 grams of Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil. Also, you will need to add 4 grams of the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer. This is because the fragrance oil may cause some discoloration in your soaps. So, we will use some color stabilizer to make sure that our soap stays looking bright and scrumptious. Once they are both added you will need to mix until they are fully incorporated.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Finishing the First LayerPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Finishing the First Layer

Next, we are going to add the FUN Soap Colorants to the melted soap. For this layer you are going to need 6 drops of the Yellow Oxide FUN Soap Colorant and 2 drops of the Brown Soap Colorant to create the perfect graham cracker crust color. Once these pigments are fully mixed, then you are ready to pour this layer into the square soap mold. Also, remember to spray with rubbing alcohol after this layer has been poured. Once the crust layer has completely set up you are ready to work on creating the next layer.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: White Cream Cheese Layer

The Cream Cheese Layer is going to be the second portion you will need to create and pour. While this layer won’t have any color added, the rest of this layer will the same as the bottom crust layer. So, this next layer will be the same size and scent as the previous layer we created.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: White Layer’s Weights and Amounts

93 grams Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap
4 grams Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil
4 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Melting Your Soap

Next, you are going to heat the 93 grams of melt and pour soap. Again, you will want to use the microwave in 30 second intervals. Remember to mix your melting soap, which will help prevent boiling. After your soap base is melted, you are ready to add the scent and color stabilizer.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Scenting Your SoapPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Scenting Your Soap

Now that your soap is melted you are ready to add the fragrance oil! So, take 4 grams of the Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil and stir it into your melted soap. Also, you will need to include 4 grams of the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer to ensure that this layer stays uncolored. Otherwise, you could have some discoloration due to the Vanillin in this fragrance. Since this layer is meant to be a cream cheese color, it won’t look right if the fragrance discolors the soap.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Pouring the Soap

Then, you are going to pour the second layer into your square soap mold. Since you waited to mix this layer until the first layer has set up, you should be ready to pour this layer. First, lightly spray your crust layer with rubbing alcohol. This will help your layers stick to one another. Now you can pour this into the mold and lightly spray the top of this layer with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles. Before moving on to the next step, allow this layer time to set up completely.

Next, we are going to be creating the pistachio layer. This vivid green layer will be the same size as the other two layers, but it will be a different color and use a different kind of melt and pour soap base. But, this portion will be created using a similar process as before.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Green Layer’s Weights and Amounts

93 grams Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap
4 grams Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil
4 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer
2 drops Neon Green FUN Soap Colorant

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Melting the Soap

Similarly, you are going to need to melt 93 grams of melt and pour soap. However, this layer will use Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap instead of the white soap base we have used before. This will provide a brighter appearance for the pistachio layer. Also, you will still need to melt this soap using 30 second intervals in the microwave and stirring between heating periods.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Adding the Fragrance OilPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Adding the Fragrance Oil

Next, we are going to be scenting the third layer of the dessert soap recipe. So, add 4 grams Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil to your freshly melted soap. Also, we will need to include 4 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer because this fragrance oil has a slight discoloration. If we didn’t use a color stabilizer, then the soap may appear more dull or even slightly brown. While this wouldn’t hurt the cleanliness of the bar, it could make it look less like pistachio pudding.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Coloring and Pouring the Soap

Now you are going to be coloring your liquid soap. So, put two drops of the Neon Green FUN Soap Colorant into the soap. You will want to mix well to blend in the ingredients from the previous step. Once it looks like everything is evenly dispersed, you will need to pour this soap into your soap mold. Just remember to spray with rubbing alcohol before and after you pour this layer to make sure your layers stay together and to release air bubbles.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Whipped Topping LayerPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Whipped Topping Layer

Lastly, we are going to be creating and adding the topping to our pistachio pudding soap! This will include both the whipped cream fluffy and the toasted, sliced almonds. The whipped cream topping will be made with a whipped soap base. Also, we will use citrus peel herbs to stand in for the sliced almonds.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Whipped Topping Layer’s Weights and Amounts

46 grams Whipped Soap Base
4 grams Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil
46 grams Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base
4 grams Vegetable Glycerin
4 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Scenting the Whipped Soap BasePistachio Soap Making Recipe: Scenting the Whipped Soap Base

First, you are going to need to measure 46 grams of the Whipped Soap Base into a large mixing bowl. Then, you will need to add in both 4 grams Pistachio Pudding Cake Fragrance Oil and 4 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Fluffing the Whipped Soap BasePistachio Soap Making Recipe: Fluffing the Whipped Soap Base

After the soap base has been scented, you are going to want to use a hand mixer to fluff your whipped soap base. This will serve to incorporate the scented oil, color stabilizer, and 4 grams Vegetable Glycerin to create a better texture for the top of your dessert soap. Once you mix everything together well, you can move on to the next step.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Adding the Melt and Pour SoapPistachio Soap Making Recipe: Adding the Melt and Pour Soap

Next, you are going to be adding the melt and pour soap base to your whipped soap. So, measure out 46 grams Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base. Now you are going to need to melt your soap using 30 second intervals. Once your soap is melted, pour it all into your mixing bowl. After everything is in the bowl, use the hand mixer again to whip everything into a frosting consistency.

Pistachio Soap Making Recipe:Pistachio Soap Making Recipe: Frosting Your Pistachio Pudding

Now that your whipped topping is fluffy, you can add it to the tops of your soaps. We recommend that you work quickly because the soap is going to set up fast. First, quickly spray the tops of your soaps with rubbing alcohol. Then, take a spatula to spread the whipped soap frosting all over the tops of your bars.

Finally, you are read to sprinkle on the sliced almond topping. For this we are going to be using Orange Peel Cut and Sifted. as they look similar enough to the almonds on the pistachio pudding and look cute on the soaps. Now, your three soap bars are finished and as soon as your soaps set up you are ready to remove from molds and use!

Now, let’s begin preparing our melt and pour soap.  First, you will need to prepare your raspberry embeds.  These embeds will be used to top our chocolate raspberry drizzle rolled mp soap. Once you have prepared them, set them aside, we will use them at the very end of this recipe.  However, since they need time to setup, we will prepare them first.

Once you have colored and scented your soap, you will be pouring your soap into the mold.  For this soap recipe, we used a mold from flexiblemolds.com.  It is their Raspberries/Blackberries Soap & Candle Mold.  So, pour your melted soap into the cavities of this mold.  Then, spray the soap with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles.  Lastly, allow them to setup before removing them from the molds.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown SoapChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown Soap

In this next step, you will prepare your brown soap.  This soap will later be coated with whipped soap base and rolled, in the same manner, you would roll a jelly roll or cake roll.  You will need a pan lined with either a silicone baking mat, parchment paper, or wax paper.  Lining your pan prior to pouring the soap will make it much easier to remove from the pan once it sets up.  Since we are using fragrance oil, you will want to use a pan that is specifically for soap making.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Total Recipe Amounts for the Brown Soap

800 grams Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap
40 grams Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Fragrance Oil
40 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer
5 grams Organic Cocoa Powder
59 grams Vegetable Glycerin

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown Melt and Pour SoapChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown Melt and Pour Soap

Your first step is to prepare your brown melt and pour soap.  We will once again be using Natures Garden’s Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap.  So, weigh out 800 grams of the clear mp soap base.  You want to melt the soap for 30 seconds at a time until it is melted.  You want to be careful not to overheat the soap base.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown Soap ColorantChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown Soap Colorant

Now, you will want to prepare your brown soap colorant.  This can be done while you are waiting for your soap to melt.  You will need a very small bowl, vegetable glycerin and Natures Garden’s organic cocoa powder.  In your bowl, weigh out 5 grams of cocoa powder.  Then, add 19 grams of vegetable glycerin.  Mix until you no longer see any clumps of powder.  By dispersing the cocoa powder in vegetable glycerin, you will be able to easily and smoothly mix it into your soap base.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your Fragrance Oil and ColorantChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your Fragrance Oil and Colorant

Next, you will need be adding your fragrance oil and colorant.  We will also be adding some vegetable glycerin.  Adding vegetable glycerin will give the soap flexibility so it can be rolled in a later step.  So, when your clear soap is in a liquid state, add 40 grams of vegetable glycerin, the brown cocoa powder colorant you prepared, 40 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, and 40 grams of Natures Garden Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Fragrance Oil.  When you have the ingredients added, mix thoroughly to ensure everything is completely blended.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Pouring Your Brown SoapChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Pouring Your Brown Soap

Once everything is mixed together, you are ready to begin pouring your brown soap.  The brown soap will be poured into the wax paper lined pan you prepared.  So, pour your melted brown soap slowly into your pan.  Once you have poured the soap, spray it with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles.  Then, let the soap setup and remove it from the pan. Set it aside for the moment, you will come back to it in a later step.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Soap FrostingChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Soap Frosting

Now, you will prepare your soap frosting.  Once it is prepared, we will spread it on our brown soap before rolling it up.  In addition, a small amount of the soap base will be placed across the top of the soap loaf to hold the raspberries in place.  The soap frosting will consist of both mp soap and whipped soap base.  By adding melt and pour soap to the whipped soap, it will allow the whipped soap to harden while maintaining a whipped frosting look.  If you added strictly whipped soap base, the whipped soap would remain soft and your soap roll would not stay together.  You will need to move quickly through the next few steps.  The whipped soap, once mixed with the melt an pour soap, will setup pretty fast.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Total Recipe Amounts for the Whipped Soap

400 grams Whipped Soap Base
400 grams Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base
40 grams  Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Fragrance Oil
40 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer
3 drops Neon Pink FUN Soap Colorant
2 drops Ultramarine Violet FUN Soap Colorant
6 drops Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant
40 grams Vegetable Glycerin

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Whipped Soap BaseChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Whipped Soap Base

First, you will prepare your whipped soap base.  The whipped soap base is what gives the pink filling the fluffy frosting-like consistency.  So, you will want to prepare your whipped soap in a very deep mixing bowl.  Once you have your bowl out, prepare your hand mixer.  Then, in your deep mixing bowl, weigh out 400 grams of NG’s Whipped Soap Base.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Fragrance Oil and Pink ColorantChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Fragrance Oil and Pink Colorant

Now, before you add your melt and pour soap, you will be adding fragrance oil and pink colorant.  You will also be adding vegetable glycerin.  So, to the bowl with your whipped soap base add 40 grams Vegetable Glycerin, 40 grams Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Fragrance Oil, 40 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, 3 drops Neon Pink FUN Soap Colorant, 2 drops Ultramarine Violet FUN Soap Colorant, and 6 drops Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant.  Finally, use your hand mixer to blend all of the ingredients.  You will want to continue to mix until you have a fluffing frosting-like consistency.  Set this bowl aside, you will come back to it in just a minute.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your MP Soap BaseChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your MP Soap Base

Next, we will be preparing some diamond clear melt and pour soap base.  This soap base will be added to this whipped soap base.  So, weigh out and melt 400 grams if your clear melt and pour soap base in the microwave.  Remember to melt the soap in 30 second intervals.  Once it is in a liquid state we will begin putting our whipped soap base together.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Finishing Your Soap FrostingChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Finishing Your Soap Frosting

The final step in finishing soap frosting is putting everything together.  Remember earlier when I said you would need to move quickly?  This is where it starts.  Once you add your melt and pour soap base to the pink whipped soap, you will need to quickly move so your can create you soap jelly roll before it sets up.  So, at this time, go ahead and add you melted soap to the bowl containing your pink whipped soap.  Then, use a hand mixer to blend it to a whipped soap frosting.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Putting Everything TogetherChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Putting Everything Together

Now, we will begin putting everything together.  You will need everything in front of you.  I highly recommend placing your brown soap on a piece of wax paper or parchment paper.  You will also need the soap raspberries you prepared earlier and your soap frosting.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your Soap FrostingChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your Soap Frosting

Your first step will be adding your soap frosting.  You want to spread your soap frosting across the entire surface of the brown soap.  Do this, in the same manner, you would if you were frosting a cake.  However, you do want to leave about 40 grams of whipped soap in your bowl, we will use this portion to top the loaf once it is rolled.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Rolling Your Soap LoafChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Rolling Your Soap Loaf

Finally, you will be rolling your soap loaf.  Place your soap in front of you vertically.  Then, begin rolling the soap like you would a jelly roll.  Once you have rolled your soap completely, remove any extra whipped soap you find along any edges.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Whipped ToppingChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Whipped Topping

Lastly, we will be adding a few finishing touches.  This will include both the whipped soap base and the raspberry embeds.  First, you will need the remaining whipped soap frosting.  If needed you should be able to heat it one time for about 15 seconds so it will be easier to work with.  However, you will only be able to do this one.  Next, spray the top of the rolled soap loaf with rubbing alcohol so that your whipped soap will adhere better.  Then, place the pink soap frosting across the top.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your Raspberry EmbedsChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your Raspberry Embeds

Finally, we will be adding your raspberry embeds.  Place the raspberry embeds directly on top of your whipped soap.  I used all but a few of mine but definitely would have had room for all of them had I placed my raspberries closer together.  Go ahead and add your raspberry embeds to your soap loaf.  Then, if need be, use a clean paper towel or cloth to wipe off any extra soap base on the brown soap before moving on.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your White Chocolate DrizzleChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Adding Your White Chocolate Drizzle

Your very last finishing touch will be adding your white chocolate drizzle.  The drizzle will be created using Natures Garden’s Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap.  The soap base will be scented but uncolored.  This is the final step and is done right before you begin slicing your soap.

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Total Recipe Amounts for the White Soap:

40 grams Cocoa Butter Melt and Pour Soap
2 grams Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Fragrance Oil
2 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer

Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Preparing Your White SoapChocolate Raspberry Drizzle Rolled MP Soap Recipe: Preparing Your White Soap

So, in a small mixing bowl, you will be preparing your white soap.  Weigh out and melt 40 grams of your mp soap base.  Then, 2 grams Natures Garden’s Chocolate Raspberry Drizzle Fragrance Oil and 2 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  Then, stir to incorporate the fragrance oil.  Lastly, use a spoon to drizzle your soap loaf.  Allow it to setup, then slice your soap.

I hope that you have enjoyed creating this project with us!  I thoroughly enjoyed creating it for you!  In fact, this is probably my absolute favorite soap I have ever created here at Natures Garden.  I was inspired by an actual food recipe I found on Pinterest.  I will most definitely be creating this raspberry chocolate Swiss roll this weekend.  You must check it out!  If you have already tried it let me know what you think on our Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook page.

Rustic Tree Trunk Soap RecipeRustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe

Lately, we have been looking to bring the outdoors in with some of our fragrance fun recipes.  Well, this soap recipe does just that.  Our next soap making recipe was inspired by, what else, nature.  Natures Garden is getting back to nature with this tree trunk inspired soap scented with Cracklin Birch Fragrance Oil.  So, read below to find out how we made our Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe.

Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Some of the Ingredients We Will Be Using

Before we begin, we will talk about some of the ingredients we will be using.  It is important to understand the importance of some of the ingredients in this recipe.  Each item we will be using has a purpose and we will talk about some of these below.

Cracklin Birch Fragrance Oil by Natures Garden is a masculine arrangement that begins with top notes of herbaceous pine, balsam, and citrus bergamot; leading to middle notes of white flowers and earthy sandalwood; sitting on base notes of woodsy patchouli and violet.  Cracklin Birch Fragrance Oil is one of our best selling candle and soap scents.  It is popular all year long, but is even more popular in the fall and winter months.

Top Notes: pine, balsam, bergamot
Mid Notes: white flowers, sandalwood
Base Notes: patchouli, violet

Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Soya Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base

Next, we will talk about the soap base we will be using in this soap recipe.  Our Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe uses Natures Garden’s Soya Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base.  This soap base is wonderful.  It will leave you with a fabulous squeaky clean feeling.  Our soya milk melt and pour soap comes in a two pound slab that has guide lines to help you cut.  In addition,  this base contains no SLS and no added detergents. Of course, none of our products are tested on animals.   Finally, all of our soap bases are gluten-free.

First, you should know that the FUN Soap Colorants are simply pigments dispersed in vegetable glycerin.  They are my favorite colorants to work with.  One half ounce of a FUN Soap Colorant will color about ten pounds of soap when used in a white soap base.  The main reason why these are my favorite colorant is because it is so easy to get a nice bright color in white melt and pour soap.  In addition, these soap dyes a perfect in cold process soap.  They come through true to color in any type of soap.

Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Vanilla White Color StabilizerRustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Vanilla White Color Stabilizer

Natures Garden is often asked about Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  So, I thought I would take a minute to talk about our vanilla white.  This is used in a variety of bath and body products, but it is not for use in candles.  When used in a body product, it will help prevent discoloration when it is caused by the vanillin.  While there are a ton of ingredients that can cause discoloration it is most often the vanilla content that causes it.  So, vanilla white will prevent this type of discoloration.  However, it will not prefect discoloration caused by other ingredients.  So, if the fragrance oil does not have a vanillin content listed in the description, do not use vanilla white.

We are also asked about the usage rate and the aroma of the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  First, our recommendation usage rate for vanilla white is one part fragrance oil to one part vanilla white.  So, in this recipe, we use 58 grams of the Cracklin Birch Fragrance Oil, so we use 58 grams Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  In addition, I would like to mention that yes, the vanilla white does have an aroma to it.  However, we have never experienced a time that the aroma of the stabilizer over-powered any of our fragrance oils.

Next, let’s talk about the Glad plastic wrap that we used.  Now, we tried a few different methods, including regular plastic wrap to achieve the tree trunk look in our soap.  However, since the plastic wrap is thicker, it worked perfectly.  The Pess’n Seal Wrap creased perfectly and allowed us to create folds in the wrap that looked like tree bark.  The Glad Press’n Seal Wrap can be purchased at your local grocery store.

Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Vegetable GlycerinRustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Vegetable Glycerin

In this recipe, we use vegetable glycerin for our Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe.  We use the vegetable glycerin to make the melt and pour soap pliable.  We will start by pouring the brown soap into a cake pan, then, it will be removed and placed into the mold.  The addition of vegetable glycerin allows us to shape the brown soap, bending it to the shape of the mold without breaking or cracking.

Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Prior to Starting

Before you begin preparing this melt and pour soap recipe, we recommend wearing protective clothing along with a hair net and gloves.  Also, go ahead and clean your work area and place all of your supplies in the area that you will be working.  Finally, in your bullet bottle, add rubbing alcohol and place one of your fine mist sprayers on top.  Now, you are ready to begin making your tree trunk melt and pour soap.

Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Cake PanRustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Cake Pan

Prior to melting your soap, you will need to prepare you cake pan for your rustic tree trunk soap.  This pan will be used for the brown portion of the soap once it is melted.  So, place your pan in front of you.  Then, cover the bottom of the pan with the Press’n Seal Wrap.  Next, you want to bunch the plastic wrap up a bit.  The goal is to create vertical creases in the wrap.  This is what will create the bark like look in the soap.  Once you have prepared your pan, go ahead and move on to preparing your soap.

Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown SoapRustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown Soap

First, we will prepare our brown soap.  So go ahead and get your cake pan out.  Then, cut up, weigh, and melt 300 grams Soya Milk Melt and Pour Soap.  You want to melt your mp soap base in thirty second intervals in the microwave until the soya milk soap is in a liquid state.  Make sure you are using a microwave safe dish.

Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Brown SoapOnce your soap is melted, add 15 grams Cracklin Birch Fragrance Oil.  Then, add your colorant.  You will need to add 7 grams brown oxide FUN Soap Colorant and 4 grams black oxide FUN Soap Colorant.  Mix to incorporate your colorant.  Finally, add 30 grams of your vegetable glycerin.  Stir to fully blend all of your ingredients.

Once your pan is prepared, lined with wrap and your soap is ready, it is time for your brown tree trunk soap to be poured.  So, now, we will be pouring your brown soap.  Place your pan in front of you and pour the melted soap into the cake pan.  You want to fill the about half of the pan.  Then, spray the poured soap with rubbing alcohol to remove any air bubbles that have formed in the soap base from pouring.  Finally, allow the soap to setup before moving on.

Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Placing Your Brown Soap Into the Round MoldRustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Placing Your Brown Soap Into the Round Mold

Once your brown soap has setup, go ahead and remove it from the cake pan.  You will notice that the soap is flexible, this is due to the addition of the vegetable glycerin.  We will trim and shape this to the shape of round loaf mold.  It will need to be the exact size of the mold.  So, trim the soap to the length of the soap mold.  Then, place it inside the round loaf soap mold and press it inside the mold.  You want to make sure that the soap fits tightly in the mold.  Finally, trim the edges of the soap so that it is the same length and width of the soap mold.

Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe:  Prepare the Cream Colored SoapRustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe:  Prepare the Cream Colored Soap

Now, we will prepare the cream colored portion of our soap in our Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe.  This portion will be the remaining portion of the soap.  The cream soap will be poured on top of the brown soap and create the inner part of the tree trunk.

First, weigh out and melt 1162 grams Soya Milk Melt and Pour Soap.  Melt the soap base in the microwave in 30-second intervals.  Melt it until it is in a liquid state.  Be careful not to over-heat the base.

Next, we will color the melted soap.  You will need to add 4 drops Yellow Oxide FUN Soap Colorant.  Then, stir to disperse to colorant.  Now, add the fragrance oil and vanilla white.  You will need to add 58 grams of Natures Garden’s Cracklin Birch Fragrance Oil and 58 grams Vanilla White Stabilizer.  Finally, mix the base to fully incorporate the fragrance oil.

Once your soap has been colored to a cream color, and scented with Cracklin Birch Fragrance Oil, it is time to pour the melted soap into the round loaf mold.  Prior to pouring the cream colored soap, you will want to spray the brown layer with rubbing alcohol.  This will help the two layers adhere to each other.  Make sure you spray the previous layer thoroughly.  So, once you have sprayed the brown soap, pour the cream soap right on top.  Finally, once again, spray the soap with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles that may have formed.  Then, allow the soap to setup before moving on.

Rustic Tree Trunk Soap Recipe: Slicing the Soap

Once your soap has setup, you can remove it from your round loaf mold.  Then, go ahead and slice the soap loaf. We recommend using your soap making mitre box and mitre box cutter.  So, place your soap in the mitre box.  Then, use the mitre box cutter to slice your rustic tree trunk soap.  After you have sliced your tree trunk soap, it can be used right away.
