Next weigh out and bring your 360 grams of water to a boil. Then you can add your 6 grams of dried rose petals into the coffee filter inside a bowl. Then check to make sure the water is at 140 degrees Fahrenheit and pour the water over the petals into the bowl to make a rose tea.

028

Even though you used 360 grams of water to make your rose tea, you only need 286 grams of the rose tea for this next step. Weigh out and pour 23 grams of Vegetable Glycerin into the 286 grams of rose tea.

031

Make sure your oil mixture is 140 degrees Fahrenheit as well as the rose tea and vegetable glycerin, and then go ahead and mix them both together.

035

After you have mixed it all together thoroughly, then you can add 2 grams of Arrowroot Powder to the mixture.

036

Then add 14 grams of Fresh Cut Roses Fragrance Oil to your mixture and mix it all together thoroughly again.

038

Check the temperature of the mixture and make sure it is just around or at 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Then add 6 grams of Optiphen and mix it all together. Keep mixing everything together until the mixture becomes thicker.

2.Why did you decide to go into business? What was your motivation? How long have you been in business?  I decided to start this business because I work second shift and I don’t get to spend a lot of time with my son and I was hoping to be able to stay home with him. I opened my shop on Etsy on 2/14/13.

3. What products do you make and sell?  At this point I sell candles and soaps. I hope to add lotions, lip balms, sugar scrubs, salt scrubs, lip gloss, and other bath and body items shortly.

4. What are your business goals?  My goal is to be able to support myself and my son from home.

5. What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  I ordered some of my scents from Natures Garden and I love the Margarita fragrance oil one the best.

wholesale fragrance oils1.  What’s your name & Your Company Name:   My name is Laura Luther, I am the proud owner of Olive My Skin

2.  Why did you decide to go into business?  What was your motivation?  How long have you been in business? I have officially been in business since 2002, but I have been making my own products since the 1980’s. Having sensitive skin and not being able to use commercial products put me on the course to find all natural alternatives to skincare. Those products were given to friends and family as gifts and eventually as my test marketers. It wasn’t until a friend suggested I sell my products at a craft show that I realized how much I loved informing people the benefits of all natural products. An educated customer always comes back for more.

3.  What products do you make and sell?  Handmade soaps, lotions, lip balms, sugar scrubs, shower gels, foaming hand soaps, soy and palm wax candles. Private Labeling for shops and personalized products for weddings, corporate events, showers and special occasions are very popular with customers right now too.

4.  What are your business goals?  This is my full time job. I am a single mom to 3 teenage kids, so I am able to be both an attentive parent and a successful business owner. Currently my products can be found in many shops in Connecticut, but I hope to be in shops all over the country.

5.  What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  The candle fragrances from Nature’s Garden are awesome! Great throw, even when unlit! My customers seem to be drawn towards them. Most of my candle scents are from Nature’s Garden and I think that they will all be very soon.

2. Why did you decide to go into business? What was your motivation? How long have you been in business?  We went into business as a result of our own family’s skin issues. We noticed that in commercially produced products the ingredients are often times harmful and contain small amounts of ingredients which are beneficial to your skin. Through intense research we learned that the ingredients such as Shea Butter, Olive Oil and Cocoa Butter are essential to soothing the increasing number of individuals with eczema, psoriasis and many other skin aliments. We have been in business for 10 years.

3. What products do you make and sell?  We make and sell Gourmet Luxury Soap, Whipped Body Butter, Foaming Butter Scrub, Shower Gel, Bath Tea, Bath Bonbons, Bath Salts, Lotion, Massage Oil, Lip Balm, and Sugar Scrubs.

4. What are your business goals?  Our mission and goals are one in the same. We promote awareness of product ingredients and use in order to create educated consumers who can make well-informed decisions regarding their UESS selections and complementary products.

5. What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  I have to the say that the fragrance oils are my favorite.

Soap Making with Regional Flair

This entry was posted in bath and body, bath products, Fragrance Oils, Natures Garden Fragrance Oils, soap, Soap making supplies and tagged , , , , , , , , , on by .

fragrance-oils-51. What’s your name & Your Company Name: Hi, My name is Diane Weinberg and I’m the owner of The Southern Tip.

2. Why did you decide to go into business? What was your motivation? How long have you been in business? After being a teacher for over 22 years, I suddenly found myself to be an unemployed teacher.  After trying and trying unsuccessfully to get a job, ANY kind of job, I decided to create my own job. I started The Southern Tip and have not looked back. Although we’ve been in business only a couple of years, I’ve found that if you really want something, and are willing to work hard for it, you can be successful. Being a business owner has also opened many other doors to me, making it easier for me to achieve some of my other goals.

3. What products do you make and sell?  We sell handcrafted soap with a “regional flair”, lotions and lotion bars, aluminum free deodorant and scrubs. We hope to branch out into candles this summer.

4. What are your business goals?  Our goals may be a bit different than those of other businesses. We have three main goals: One is, of course, that we want our business to continue to grow and prosper.

A second goal is that we want to help promote and encourage a regional pride among our population. One of the ways we do this is by designing many of our products to reflect the area culture and to highlight our unique locale. Since we are in Texas and are also near the border with Mexico, these facts influence the soaps that we create. Our Tres Leches soap (inspired by a variety of cake made in our region using three milks) Chile con Queso soap, ( a popular and spicy dip made here) Chocolate Chachalaca soap (a turkey-like bird found in our area) and Ocelot soap ( a rare and endangered animal also found in our area) are some examples of our regional creations. Also, since another one of our selling venues is on a nearby island, South Padre Island, our Dunes, Padre Shores, Padre Island Dream, Sea Gull, Soap of the Sea, Sand Castle and Sand Bar soaps were created to reflect this.

Our third goal, and probably our most important goal, is that we want to serve as an inspiration to other unemployed/underemployed people, especially those who are over 50 and who find themselves in this difficult position, maybe for the first time in their lives. We want them to know that if you are willing to put in the work, to study, research and learn some new skills, that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is hope.

This is one of the main reasons why we offer beginning soap making classes. We want to share our knowledge with others and hopefully help others learn at least one way to supplement their income or at the very least, to create affordable, custom soap for their own families and friends.

Our long term dream would be to eventually open a folk school type of learning facility where many skills and crafts would be taught by experts in their fields. Some of the “old fashioned” skills that we would like to include, in addition to soap making, are such things as: candle making, basket making, clay work, wood turning, rug weaving, jewelry making, mosaics, small scale niche gardening, etc. We want to help people become more self-sufficient and teach them new skills that will enable them to supplement their income should they ever find themselves unemployed/underemployed.

5. What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  We are great fans of Nature’s Garden’s fragrance oils. There are so many to choose from and they are all wonderful! One of our favorites is Cracklin’ Birch. We have also used their goat’s milk lotion base and it is a very versatile product.

Soy Wax Candles & Bath Fizzies

2. Why did you decide to go into business? What was your motivation? How long have you been in business?
I have always been a *crafty* person so this gave me a way to channel my energies and ideas into a business, especially after people kept complementing me on my items, asking me if they could buy my items and telling me I should go into business for myself. I have had a Washington state business license for approximately 20 years.

3. What products do you make and sell?
I do a wide variety of items from soaps, lotions, bath salts, bath fizzies and soy wax candles & tarts to Red Hat bears, Victorian bears and home décor that includes decorated wreaths, swags, window boxes, bird cages and assorted silk floral arrangements. During the last year I also added a bakery line of candles & soaps that includes soy wax cobblers, pies, muffins & cinnamon rolls as well as soap cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, carrot cakes, brownies & donuts.

4. What are your business goals?
To continue to make quality products at a reasonable price and to keep promoting my business so it reaches more customers. I have currently sold items to not only the U.S. and Canada but also to the U.K. and Greece.

5. What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?
I use a variety of your fragrance & essential oils and herbs. I was particularly THRILLED when I found your Huckleberry Harvest and Spiced Cranberry after the suppliers I used to purchase comparable scents to these two went out of business since these are two of my top selling fragrances. And I love, love, LOVE your prices because they are very reasonable and allow me to keep my prices down which is very important in today’s economy.
