Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Preparations

First, prepare the area where you will be working. You will want to clean your work area. In addition, you want to both clean and sanitize your packaging supplies that you will be using. We also suggest wearing protective clothing such as gloves, an apron, and a hair net while preparing your hair conditioner.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Achieving the Proper Emulsion

At this time, we should talk about the importance of temperature when preparing this recipe. There are a few reasons why temperature is important.  I would like to point this out for those that have never made this type of recipe. It is important to know this before you begin so that you are properly prepared.  First, your temperature is important in order to create a proper emulsion. You want to make sure the temperature of both your coffee and your oils are around 140 degrees Fahrenheit when you blend them. If they are not at the correct temperature, your conditioner can completely separate.

In addition, it is important when adding your preservative. If you add your preservative when your conditioner is too hot, your preservative will burn off.  If your emulsion is too cool the preservative will separate out of conditioner. You want to add your preservative at a temperature below 140 degrees Fahrenheit, but you do not want it to get below 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Coffee for Your Hair

In this hair conditioner recipe we used freshly brewed coffee. Coffee is often used in natural hair dyes.  It helps cover grays and add dimension to brown hair. In addition, you don’t have to use harsh chemicals to color your hair. We all know that hair dye, whether it be from the store, or the salon, isn’t really that great for our hair.  I mean sure we look and feel amazing, but think about the damage that it can do to our hair.  Is it really worth it?

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Preparing your CoffeeHair Conditioner for Brunettes: Preparing your Coffee

Next, we will prepare our coffee.  There really are two different ways you can do this. First, simply make a pot of coffee.  However, it is still important that the bacteria is destroyed.  So, make sure your coffee stays around 180 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.

Another option is to basically create a tea using coffee grounds.  This can be done by adding coffee grounds to a tea bag or two and adding it to your water. So, first, fill your tea bag.  Then, on your stove, heat your distilled water. You want to heat the water to 180 degrees Fahrenheit.  While you will only need 425 grams of water, make sure you add plenty of water. You will need to hold the temperature at this temperature for 20 minutes.  Some of your water will evaporate during this time. However, it is important that you heat for twenty minutes to destroy any bacteria.  Add you tea bag to your water. Allow the teabag to steep to create a very dark coffee water. This will create the coffee that will be used in your conditioner.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Choosing Your OilsHair Conditioner for Brunettes: Choosing Your Oils

Now, we will also be preparing the oils portion of this recipe. We here at Natures Garden used avocado oil for our conditioner.  As I said earlier, we created these conditioners for each hair color, customizing them to the hair care needs of one of the members of Natures Garden’s Creative Team.  In this case, Deborah chose apricot kernel oil and sesame seed oil.  While these are the oils that she chose, and by the way loved, you can customize your conditioner for your hair needs. You can use a total of 20 grams of oil in any combination that you feel will suit you. It will require testing of course to perfect the conditioner to your needs. You can read about the oils for various hair types here. Whether your hair is thick or fine, oily or dry, you will find the perfect oil for you!

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Choosing Your OilsHair Conditioner for Brunettes: Preparing Your Oils

Next, you will need to prepare the oils that you will be using in this recipe. We will us a double boiler to melt your oils on the stove top. So, you will need to get your large pot and add a few inches of water. Then, heat the water over medium heat.  You can allow the water to heat as you are preparing your oils.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Choosing Your Oils

Now, you will need your small pot. In this pot, weigh out and add 25 grams Vegetable Glycerin, 25 grams BTMS 25, 10 grams Sesame Seed Oil and 10 grams Apricot Kernel Oil. Then, place your small pot inside the larger pot of water on your stove.  Allow your oils to melt, make sure you are stirring occasionally as they are melting.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Mixing Your Oils and Herbal Tea Together

You want to move quickly through the next couple of steps as this is where the temperatures are very important in order to achieve a proper emulsion. So, get a deep mixing bowl.  Then, weigh out 425 grams of the coffee.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Mixing Your Oils and Herbal Tea Together

In addition, remove your melted oils from the heat.  Then, allow the temperature of both the oils and your coffee to drop to about 140 degrees Fahrenheit before moving on.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Mixing Your Oils and Herbal Tea Together

Next, at this time, go ahead and add your oils to your coffee. Finally, use your stick blender to emulsify your ingredients.  You should notice the color of your mixture will start to change.  You want to continue to mix, ensuring that your conditioner is completely blended. However, be careful not to allow the temperature of the mixture to drop below 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Adding the Final Conditioner Ingredients

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Adding the Final Conditioner Ingredients

Finally, we will be adding just a few more ingredients to our mixture.  We need to add scent, a preservative, and vitamin E oil.  As we talked about earlier, all three of these ingredients need to be added at a temperature no cooler than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.  So, add 26 grams of your Jamaican Vanilla Cafe Fragrance Oil, 5 grams Optiphen Preservative, and 5 grams Vitamin E Oil. Then, once again, use your stick blender to incorporate all of the ingredients fully. Continue to stick blend the mixture until your are sure everything is completely blended.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Cooling the Conditioner

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Cooling the Conditioner

Once you have stick blended your conditioner fully and completely, the only thing left to do is wait.  You want you conditioner’s temperature to drop to room temperature.  You will notice that your conditioner is still very thin.  As the conditioner for brunettes cools, it will begin to get thicker.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Packaging Your Conditioner

Now, once your handmade conditioner has reached room temperature, you are ready to package your conditioner.  We chose the 8 ounce Boston round bottles to package our conditioner.  However, you can use whichever bottle you choose.  If you choose these same bottles, you will need two of them.  We do offer a variety of bottles and lids available to package your brunette conditioner. Next, get your bottles out at this time. Set them in front of you so that you are prepared to place your conditioner into the bottles.

First though you will need your gallon sized Ziploc bag.  Next, place your conditioner in the bag.  If you would like, you can place the gallon bag inside a small bowl.  Then, wrap the opening of the bag around the bowl.  This will keep the bag open while you add the conditioner to the bowl. This makes it a lot easier when putting my conditioner into the bag.  Once you have filled your bag, remove as much air as possible. Then, go ahead and close the bag.

Next, we will cut the corner of the bag.  You just need to cut the corner a bit to create a hole.  All we are doing is basically creating a decorating bag.  We will line the hole in the bag up with the opening of our bottle to fill it.  Go ahead and fill your bottle with the conditioner.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Packaging Your ConditionerOnce your bottle is full, place a lid on top.  We used the white pump tops. Once you have placed a lid on top you are finished. Your conditioner for brunettes is now ready to use!  Simply wash your hair then use the conditioner as you would your normal hair conditioner.  We have found that the longer you leave it on before rinsing, the better results you will see. While the results aren’t permanent, they will stay for a bit and with regular your hair should stay a lovely brown color.

We hope that you have enjoyed creating this hair conditioner for brunettes. DIY Daily Conditioner Preparing to Create

It is a great idea to make sure that your equipment and packaging materials are clean and sanitized. Further, you should clean up your work area and make sure that your space is ready for you to work! This way you won’t end up with debris in your finished product. In addition, while preparing this recipe, we recommend wearing an apron, gloves, and a hairnet. Once you are ready, it is easiest to get all of your ingredients and equipment out and in your work area.

DIY Daily Conditioner Creating the Double Boiler

For those making products for the first time, before you begin creating this recipe, you will need to learn how to create a double boiler. This device will prevent the oils and butters from burning as they are melting. While you still need to occasionally stir, the double boiler will not get the ingredients nearly as hot as a regular pot alone. This means that your ingredients will melt slowly, and be less likely to scorch. So, we would highly recommend that you use a double boiler. So, retrieve two of your pots that will fit together with one inside the other. Next, add some water to the larger pot. You will need to adjust the level of the water to make sure that it touches the bottom of the little pot, but isn’t too high. If the larger pot is too full, the ingredients in the smaller pot could get ruined water boiling into the smaller pot of oils, butters, and waxes.

DIY Daily Conditioner Boiling the WaterDIY Daily Conditioner Prepare Your Distilled Water

First, you are going to need to prepare your water. You will need to boil your distilled water to destroy any bacteria in the water. So, fill a pot with some water and place it on the stove top. You are going to want to use more than 425 grams of water. Just make sure that you use enough so that you have the right amount of water after some evaporates. As you are heating the water keep an eye on the temperature. Allow the boiling water to get up to at least 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, let the water remain at or above this temperature for 20 minutes to destroy any bacteria. After, remove it from the heat and set the water aside. However, you can move on to the next step while you are waiting for your water to finish boiling.

DIY Daily Conditioner Preparing the Butters and OilsDIY Daily Conditioner Preparing the Butters and Oils

Next, you are going to want to start heating your oils and butters. Also, make sure that you have the double boiler close by and ready to use. So, grab a small bowl and the gram scale. Now, weigh out 25 grams of your Vegetable Glycerin
25 grams of the BTMS 25 Emulsifier, 10 grams of the Coconut Oil, and 10 grams of the Jojoba Oil.
Now, you need to add these ingredients to the small pot of your double boiler. You will want to melt these ingredients and allow the temperature to drop to about 140 degrees Fahrenheit. This is an important temperature for your oils, because you need them to be around this temperature when you combine it with the water mixture.

DIY Daily Conditioner Filling the Tea BagDIY Daily Conditioner Filling the Tea Bag

Now, while you are waiting for your oils to melt, you are going to create an lovely herbal infusion with both the dried calendula flowers and lemon peel cut and sifted. This means that you need to prepare your tea bag before moving on to the next step. So, use a spoon to scoop in a half and half mixture of these two herbal ingredients. After you get both the calendula flowers and the lemon peel herbs into the tea bag, you are ready to use your filled tea bag! So, set this part of the process aside until your water is ready for you to create the final herbal infusion.

DIY Daily Conditioner Prepare the Distilled WaterDIY Daily Conditioner Prepare the Distilled Water

Once your water has been at least 180 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes, you will separate out the portion that you need. So, grab your deep bowl or container and the gram scale. Now, weigh out 425 grams of your prepared distilled water into your chosen container. This will be used to create the herbal tea infusion. Also, this mixture will be the water phase of your conditioner, so it is important to weigh out the right amount.

DIY Daily Conditioner Creating the Chamomile Flowers InfusionDIY Daily Conditioner Creating the Calendula Flowers Infusion

Next, you are finally ready to create the herbal infusion. This is where you will use your bag of calendula flowers whole and lemon peel cut and sifted to create an herbal tea. So, grab your hot water and add your tea bag. Now, let the bag steep in the water for some time. While the herbs are steeping make sure to keep checking the temperature. After this herbal infusion reaches about 140 degrees Fahrenheit you are ready to move on to the next step. Just make sure that you move quickly so that the temperature doesn’t drop too low.

DIY Daily Conditioner Checking the Temperature

After both the mixtures are around 140 degrees Fahrenheit, you are ready to combine the water phase and the oil phase. If either of the two mixtures are not at the correct temperature, your mixture may not emulsify. In addition, the preservative can burn off if the ingredients are too hot. The temperature needs to be 120-140 degrees Fahrenheit when the presevative is added. So, temperature is extremely important for the next few steps.  You will need to work quickly to get everything done properly.

DIY Daily Conditioner Mixing the Water and Oils Together

Now that these two mixtures are at their correct temperatures you are ready to combine everything together! Since these two mixtures are about the same temperature, they should blend well enough to create a perfect conditioner that won’t separate. So, take your mixture of oils and butters and pour this mixture into your herbal infusion. As long as these two mixtures are around the same temperature, these two mixes should blend perfectly to create a single blended mixture.

DIY Daily Conditioner Emulsifying the Two MixturesDIY Daily Conditioner Emulsifying the Two Mixtures

Next, use the handheld stick blender to fully incorporate all the ingredients. If the mixtures are at the right temperatures, then you shouldn’t end up with separation of the oils and water. You will know whether it was mixed correctly by the consistency of the conditioner. It should begin to look creamy and feel thicker. It will begin to look more like more like real conditioner. Also, it may look a lot like lotion. if you’ve ever made homemade lotion, then you will know exactly what to look for in a conditioner. Also, you should notice a lovely light yellow hue!

DIY Daily Conditioner Adding in the Fragrance Oil and Preservative

After, we will be ready to add in the Optiphen preservative, the pure vitamin E oil, and the Goldie Dreadlocks Fragrance Oil. These will be the last ingredients that you will need to complete this mixture! But, make sure that the mixture is still between 120-140 degrees Fahrenheit before you mix in the ingredients. Waiting for the mixture to drop to this temperature will make sure that the Optiphen and the fragrance don’t burn off. Otherwise, you could end up losing the positive impacts that this additive has on the product. Plus, at this point in the process you should have a well blended conditioner.

DIY Daily Conditioner Filling the 16 oz BottlesDIY Daily Conditioner Filling the 16 oz Bottles

Now, you are ready to fill your white 16 oz. bottles! All you need to do is wait for your conditioner to cool to room temperature. Your conditioner is finally complete and ready for you to package. So, fill up your gallon Ziploc bag with this finished mixture. At this point you may want to have two of the bottles open and ready to use. Then, place the corner of the bag over the opening of one bottle. You want to make sure you will have control over the bag before you cut, as it may come out quickly. Also, as you begin filling the bottles you may want to lightly tap the bottle on the counter. This should help reduce the air bubbles.

DIY Daily Conditioner Using Your Finished Product

Finally, your homemade conditioner is finished! This diy hair product can be used exactly the same way as a commercially purchased conditioner. So, you can simply use this diy conditioner the exact same way you would use that product. Also, it may be even more effective in bringing out your blonde if you can leave your diy conditioner in longer. If you don’t want to add more time to your typical shower, then you can simply leave the conditioner in as you do everything else that you need, like shave or use body wash. This way you don’t rinse out the hair care product immediately and it has more time to sink in and work for your hair. So, the conditioner will have more time to nourish and lighten. So, you will have a head of hair that is moisturized and blonder!

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Clean and Sanitize

Before you begin creating your own conditioner you should make sure that you clean all of your equipment as well as your work space. This will ensure that your finished product is safe to use. All you need to do is wash and sanitize your bowls, mixer, and other equipment with soap and water. This is a simple preparation that may save you the heartache of accidentally getting your product dirty. While this won’t always ruin your product, you want to keep your conditioner, as well as any other body product, as clean as you possibly can.

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Creating the Double Boiler

Also, you will need to know how to create a double boiler for this recipe. This is simple to do once it is learned. So, grab your smaller pot and the larger pot. Make sure that the small one will fit comfortably inside the large one. Then, add water to your larger pot. The water level should be just high enough to reach the bottom of the small pot. Just be careful not to have the water too high, as this could boil over into the smaller pot. After your water level is right, you can heat the water on the stove top. Once the water reaches a boil, add your small pot in, which will contain the ingredients that you wish to melt. By placing your ingredients in a double boiler it prevents the oils from burning that can occur from direct heat.

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Preparing the WaterHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner Preparing the Water

Now, you are going to boil some distilled water. You can have this heating as you fill your tea bag. This way you will save time! So, fill your medium sized pot with plenty of distilled water. You will need at least 425 grams of boiled water, so make sure that you have more than this amount in your pot. Remember, a portion of this water is going to evaporate. This means that you are going to have to add more than the amount you need. Once your water reaches a boil watch the temperature. You will need the water to be at or above 180 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. This will destroy any bacteria that may be in your water.

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Melting Your Butters and OilsHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner Melting Your Butters and Oils

While your water is boiling, you can weigh out your butters and oils. So, grab your small bowl and the scale. Now, weigh 25 grams of the Vegetable Glycerin, 25 grams of the BTMS 25, 20 grams of the Safflower Oil, and 5 grams of the Vitamin E Oil into your small bowl. Melt these ingredients in a double boiler. After this all melts, set on low so it doesn’t drop below 120 degrees Fahrenheit. You are going to need these melted and between 120 and 140 degrees when your Hibiscus Flowers infusion is at a similar temperature.

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Recipe Filling the Tea BagHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner Filling the Tea Bag

Next, you are going to fill up your tea bag with an herb. To do this you need to get the Hibiscus Flowers Whole and a single tea bag. Then, scoop your Hibiscus Flowers into the tea bag until it reaches almost the top. Just make sure that you are able to close the tea bag after it is filled. You want to have enough of your dried flowers in the bag to create a Hibiscus Flower infusion, but not too much. If you can’t securely close the tea bag, then your conditioner can end up with small bits of flowers. While this won’t hurt your recipe, you will have little chunks in your product. So, just make sure you can shut your tea bag all the way!

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Weigh Out the Distilled WaterHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner Weigh Out the Distilled Water

After your water has been at or above the specified temperature for 20 minutes, you will separate out the portion that you need. So, grab your deep bowl or container and your scale. Also, make sure that your scale is set to grams. Now, weigh out 425 grams of your boiled water into your chosen container. This will be used to create the Hibiscus Flowers infusion and will act as the water phase for your conditioner. So, it is important to weigh out the right amount. Furthermore, those that ran out of boiled water can just boil some additional water the same way as before. It is a bit time consuming, but is worth the effort as it will reduce contamination.

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Creating the Hibiscus Flowers InfusionHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner Creating the Hibiscus Flowers Infusion

Now, you are ready to make your herbal infusion! This is where you create a sort of tea with your herbs. So, the properties of the herbs can be transferred into the water. Thus, you can utilize all the benefits of Hibiscus Flowers without including the actual flowers or the powder. Simply add the filled tea bag to your water. Then, let the bag of Hibiscus Flowers Whole soak in the water, which will begin to turn to a reddish hue! Make sure to leave the tea bag in the water until the infusion has reached the right temperature.

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Checking the TemperatureHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner Checking the Temperature

The temperatures of both the oil based ingredients and water based ingredients are extremely important for the next few steps. Let’s go over this a bit before we move on so that anyone who has not made this type of product before can understand the importance. Before you can combine your oils and water they must be between 120 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit. It must be above 120 degrees so the oils and water will properly emulsify, or mix together. You do not want your oils and water in the conditioner to separate once it is finished. However, the temperature can’t be above 140 degrees or the Optiphen Preservative will burn off. So, make sure to keep an eye on the temperature of your mixture.

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Combine Your Two MixturesHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner Combine Your Two Mixtures

Next, you will combine your water based mixture and your oil based mixture. So, you can go ahead and add your oils to your hibiscus flower infusion. After all your melted oils have been added to your water based mixture you are ready to move on to the next step. But, you need to move quickly at this point to make sure the oils and water emulsify properly.

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Emulsifying ProcessHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner Emulsifying Process

Now, you are going to use the stick blender to mix everything together. Quickly grab your hand held mixer and blend your water and oil based mixtures together. As you work the mixture should start to become a creamy sort of consistency. Also, you will notice a light pink color. This is the emulsification process, which is where your oils and butters combine to form a single mixture. If you have mixed well at the right temperature, then your mixture should not separate into oil and water. After you feel that you have blended everything together well, check the temperature of your mixture.

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Adding Fragrance and Optiphen PreservativeHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner Adding Fragrance and Optiphen Preservative

Once your mixture has reached about 120 degrees Fahrenheit, you can add in your fragrance oil and the optiphen. So, pour in 26 grams of the NG Viva la Juicee Fragrance Oil and 5 grams of the Optiphen Preservative. Now, mix these ingredients into your conditioner well. You should use the handheld mixer or stick blender again to make sure these ingredients are fully incorporated. After, your mixture will be complete! All you have to do now is allow your conditioner to cool to room temperature.

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Filling Your BottlesHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner Filling Your Bottles

Finally, you are ready to package up your Hibiscus Conditioner Recipe! So, grab your gallon Ziploc bag. Then, fill up your Ziploc with your entire homemade hair conditioner. Get your 16 oz. White PET Bullet Bottles ready. Then, put the corner of your bag over the bottle and cut the tip with your scissors. Now, fill up your bottle and be careful not to go to fast as it is easy to overfill your bottle. Also, you can lightly tap your bottle on your work surface to reduce air bubbles and better fill your bottle. After your bottle is filled, you can put on your White Lotion Pumps 24/410. Now, your conditioner is finished!

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Using Your ProductHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner Using Your Product

Now that your product is completed it is ready to use! Your conditioner is very simple to use. Just use your homemade conditioner the same way that you would use any store bought conditioner. This diy daily conditioner can be used every day and would be perfect for an everyday moisturizer. Like any conditioner, it will work better if you leave the product in longer. For example, you can leave the conditioner in your hair as you shave or wash the rest of your body. This will allow the ingredients to sink deeper into your hair.

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner Before Using Your Homemade ProductHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner Before Using Your Homemade Product

Personally, I used this product in my own hair and loved the results. I naturally have strawberry blonde hair. While my hair is mostly blonde, I have some red hair sprinkled in. I wanted to use this recipe to bring out my red hair and lead to a more of a red tint. So, I used my homemade hibiscus conditioner every night for a full week. The only thing that I changed is swapping out my own store bought conditioner with this homemade hair care product! I love the scent and enjoyed how much softer my hair felt. However, I focused mostly on the impact the Hibiscus has on the color of my hair.

Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner After Using the Product for a WeekHomemade Hibiscus Conditioner After Using the Product for a Week

This hair product worked exactly how I wanted it to! The lovely Homemade Hibiscus Conditioner was perfect for achieving the color that I wanted. While this conditioner recipe won’t dye your hair bright red, it is perfect for bringing out the natural beauty of red hair! While I am not a full redhead, I do have enough highlights to notice a change in this part of my hair. Using this conditioner brought out the natural red tones in my hair and led to a deeper red tint to my hair. I truly love this conditioner!

Aloe Cucumber Hair Conditioner Kit Sanitize and Clean

Before you begin this project, clean and sanitize all your supplies and the area you will be working in. This is important to prevent potential contaminants, such as dirt or bacteria, from getting into your product. Further, it will help the project go quicker if all your supplies are ready and your work area is clean. So, retrieve all the equipment that you will require to get it prepared and cleaned. Next, make sure that you have enough space on your counter top and stove top to create this recipe.

Aloe Cucumber Hair Conditioner Kit Double Boiler

Also, you want to melt your ingredients in a double boiler to prevent your oils from burning. So, you will need two pots of different sizes. Take the larger pot and add some water, likely only a couple inches or so. Next, take the smaller pot and set it inside the water filled pot. If the water is close to the rim of the small pot, then remove some of your water. However, you will want the water to touch the bottom of the smaller pot. In a later step you will place the double boiler on the stove and add the oils to your smaller pot.

Aloe Cucumber Hair Conditioner Kit Water Phase

First, we are going to need to prepare the water. So, retrieve one of your pots that is not part of your double boiler. You will need 425 grams of distilled water for this recipe. So, you will want to make sure to boil a little extra as some will evaporate while heating. Heat the water until it reaches at least 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Hold this boil for at least twenty minutes before removing it from the heat. This will ensure that any bacteria is destroyed. While you heat the water, prepare the oil phase.

Aloe Cucumber Hair Conditioner Kit Oil Phase

Next, you will need to prepare the oils and emulsifier. So, tare the weight of one of your bowls on a scale. Next, weigh out 25 grams of Vegetable Glycerin, 25 grams of BTMS 25 Emulsifier, 5 grams of Vitamin E Oil, and 20 grams of Sweet Almond Oil. Then, you will add these ingredients to the smaller pot of the double boiler to melt.  Once you have melted the oils remove them from the heat to cool to about 140 degrees.

Aloe Cucumber Hair Conditioner Kit Emulsification Phase

Before you begin your emulsification stage, I would like to note, your temperature are very important in this step. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, if the temperatures of both your oils and water are not at the same temperatures, you will not get a proper emulsion. This means that you will end up with a conditioner that separates. Secondly, if you add your Optiphen above 140 degrees Fahrenheit, it will be too hot and your preservative will burn off. On the other hand, if you add it below 120 degrees, it will separate out of your conditioner.

Now, let’s begin putting it all together.  You are going to combine the water and oil to create your homemade conditioner. Before combining make sure that both the oils and water have cooled to about 140 degrees Fahrenheit.  Then, weigh out 425 grams of your boiled water into a large bowl and add the melted oils as well. Quickly, use your mixer to blend these ingredients. As they emulsify the mixture will become white and begin to thicken slightly. After this is thoroughly mixed, let it cool to about 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, add the Optiphen Preservative and the Aloe Vera Cucumber Fragrance Oil to the mix. As you mix and the conditioner cools it will begin to thicken.

Finally, your conditioner is complete and ready to package! Let your final mixture cool to room temperature before you package your product. Take your two bottles and fill them with the finished conditioner. While you can use the pipettes to fill the bottles, it may take a while. Another option is adding the conditioner to a Ziploc bag. Once you have your conditioner added, you can cut the corner and use the hole in the bag to fill the bottle.
