Keylime Pie Candle Recipe

Keylime Pie Candle RecipeThis keylime pie candle recipe was inspired by my absolute favorite dessert that not only tastes delicious but, with this free candle recipe, it smells delicious too!  As a kid, I remember my favorite place to visit was my Aunt. Keylime Pie Candle Recipe Prepare Your Embeds

First, we will prepare our lime embeds.  This will later use a couple of these to top our keylime candle.  Before we begin, I want to note just one thing.  We chose to prepare 10 of them, however, this recipe will only create one candle.  So, the remaining slices can be used in your wax melter or you can prepare less of the lime slices.  When melting 50 grams of wax, it will prepare 10 lime slices.

Keylime Pie Candle Recipe Prepare Your EmbedsLet’s begin by melting the Pillar of Bliss Candle Wax.  Weigh out 50 grams of Pillar of Bliss Wax.  Then use a double boiler to melt the wax.  Once you have melted the wax remove it from the heat.  Then, add 5 grams of Keylime Pie Fragrance Oil.  Mix well to incorporate the fragrance oil.  Next, use a toothpick to add a tiny bit of green liquid candle dye.  Then mix the candle colorant into the candle wax.  Then, pour the melted candle wax into the mini lemon/lime slices mold.  Allow these to setup.  Then, remove them from the mold.  You can go ahead and move on to the next step while you are waiting.

Keylime Pie Candle Recipe Prepare Your Wax Pie Crust

Keylime Pie Candle Recipe Prepare Your Wax Pie CrustNow, we will prepare the pie crust layer of the candle.  First, prepare your candle jar.  Use a hot glue gun to adhere two CD-12 candle wicks to the bottom of a 16 ounce apothecary jar.  Make sure the wicks are evenly spaced and centered.  Then, weigh out 115 grams of Joy Wax.  Again, using a double boiler, melt the Joy Wax.  Once melted, you will once again use a toothpick to add the color.  Dip your toothpick into the brown liquid candle dye.  Then, dip it into your melted wax.  Repeat this process with the yellow candle colorant.  Then, mix well to incorporate the color.  Next, add 10 grams of Keylime Pie Fragrance Oil.  Then, mix once again to incorporate the fragrance oil.  Pour the candle wax carefully into your jar.  Allow this layer to setup before moving to the next step.

Keylime Pie Candle Recipe Prepare Your Lime Colored Wax

Keylime Pie Candle Recipe Prepare Your Lime Colored Wax

First, weigh out and melt 285 grams of Joy Wax using a double boiler.  Then, add 28 grams of Natures Garden Keylime Pie Fragrance Oil.  Mix the fragrance into the candle wax.  Next, you will once again need a toothpick.  Use a toothpick to add a tiny bit of green liquid candle colorant.  Make sure you mix the green dye into the wax.  Finally, pour the lime layer right on top of the pie crust layer.  Allow this layer to setup before moving to the next step.

Keylime Pie Candle Recipe Prepare Your Whipped Topping

Keylime Pie Candle Recipe Prepare Your Whipped ToppingNow, begin preparing the whipped cream topping of the candle.  We will once again be using Joy Wax.  Weigh out and melt 228 grams of Joy Wax using your double boiler.  Next, remove the wax from the heat and add 22 grams of Keylime Pie Fragrance Oil and stir to incorporate the fragrance oil.  We will not be adding color to this portion of the candle.  Once you have added the lime scent, allow the wax to setup just a little bit.  Then, begin whipping the wax using a mixing spoon.  You want to get the wax to a whipped frosting consistency.

Keylime Pie Candle Recipe Prepare Your Whipped Topping

Finally, scoop the whipped wax directly on top of your lime layer.  As you are adding the wax to the top make sure you are keeping your wicks straight.  You want to create a whipped cream appearance.  Use your spoon to create peaks in the whipped candle wax

Keylime Pie Candle Recipe Finishing Touches

Keylime Pie Candle Recipe Finishing Touches

The last part of this candle will be the finishing touches.  First, use your mixing spoon, or a fork to add peaks in the wax.  Then, place one or two lime slices you prepared earlier on top of the whipped cream layer.  Once you have allowed the candle to cure, trim your wicks to about 1/4 inch.  Finally, it is ready to be lit.

We hope that you enjoy this keylime pie candle.  For even more fragrance fun recipe be sure to check out our recipe box.  Show us what you have made with Natures Garden’s Keylime Pie Fragrance Oil!  Tag us on Instagram @ngscents or post you picture on our Facebook Page.

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit

Joy Wax Candle Making KitThe Joy Wax Candle Making Kit is a simple candle craft that is perfect for beginning candle makers. Not only does this kit provide you with the ingredients need to create twelve candles, but you will be provided a page of detailed instructions for those that need guidance. While you will not be provided with a pouring pot or a thermometer, these are extremely useful tools that every candle maker can benefit from using. Further, you will be given enough supplies to create three batches of differently scented and colored candles. Your fragrance options currently are Strawberry Passion Fragrance Oil, Spring Rain Fragrance Oil, Vanilla Silk Fragrance Oil, and Fresh Linen Fragrance Oil. However, you will need to decide on your favorite three candles scents, as you will have one scent left over. Overall, this is a simple, fun craft for the experienced candle makers and a great choice for those that want to create their first batch of candles.

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Products Included in this Kit

Joy Wax Candle KitJoy Wax Candle Making Kit Products Included in this Kit

3 pounds of Joy Wax
2 Color Blocks (Red and Blue)
4 Fragrance Oils in 1 Ounce Bottles
Strawberry Passion Fragrance Oil
Spring Rain Fragrance Oil
Vanilla Silk Fragrance Oil
Fresh Linen Fragrance Oil
25 – Hemp Wicks (7 inch)
12 – 6.5 ounce hexagon candle containers
Warning Labels

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Additional Supplies Needed

A Pouring Pot

Cake Pan 13×9 or Large Pot (Used to Create the Double Boiler)

Stainless or Wooden Spoon

Stainless or Glass Measuring Cup

Stove Top or Hot Plate

Thermometer

Hot Glue Gun and Hot Glue Sticks

Scale

Pencil or Fine Tooth Comb – Used to hold your candle wicks in place

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Sanitize and Clean

Before starting any project, you should make sure that everything is tidy and ready to use. First, gather all the equipment you will need to complete the candles. Not only do you want them readily available, but these supplies should be sanitized as well. Also, you will want to tidy and sanitize your work area and stove top. This preparation will allow you to be sure that this process goes quickly and without error.

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Prepare the Containers

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Prepare the ContainersBefore you begin melting your wax you will want to prepare the containers for pouring. The wicks need to be put into the containers before you pour the wax. You will need a hot glue gun and hot glue to secure the wicks in the containers. So, add a bit of hot glue to the bottom of the wick and use your fingers to quickly secure the wick to the bottom of the container. Make sure that you place the metal bottom of the wick as close to the center as possible.

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Creating the Double Boiler

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Creating the Double BoilerAlso, you will want to create a double boiler for this project. This will help to prevent the wax from overheating when you melt your provided Joy Wax. You will need the pouring pot to hold your melting wax and a larger pot that the pouring pot fits in. We recommend using a cake pan, but you can improvise with an appropriately sized pot or pan. You will add some water to the cake pan, place the pouring pot inside, and heat the water to boiling.

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Melt and Color the Wax

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Melt and Color the WaxFirst, you are going to want to melt and add color to your first batch of candles. So, retrieve your scale and weigh a pound of your joy wax. Place this into pouring pot and begin to melt this wax. Also, you are going to want to add your colorant. Choose either the red or blue color block. We chose to use the blue color block for our first batch. You will want to add no more than one eighth of the block, but you can add less to achieve a lighter shade for your candle. We created dark blue candles for our first batch. Then, light red for our second and mixed a small amount of each for our final batch. After you add your colorant, mix thoroughly and place your thermometer into the wax to check the temperature. Once the thermometer reaches 200 degrees Fahrenheit you are ready for the next step.

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Cooling the Wax

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Cooling the WaxNext, you are going to add the fragrance oil and pour the wax as the melted wax cools. First, wait for the wax to cool to about 170 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the wax reaches this temperature you will add one of your three chosen fragrance oils. Add one ounce of fragrance oil and mix thoroughly. Then, wait for the scented wax to cool to about 160-165 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the wax reaches this temperature it is safe to pour the wax into your prepared containers, this batch should fill about four candle containers. It is important to pay attention to how full you fill your jars.  You want to stop pouring just before the jars begin changing shape.  If you fill your jars to full they will not burn all the way across and you will also run out of wax for the remaining jars.  Finally, be sure to straighten the wicks before the candles cool. You can set an object, like a pencil or a fine tooth comb, across the tops to help keep the wicks in place.

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Cleaning Your Pouring Pot

Often times beginner candle makers ask us how to clean their pouring pots. Cleaning them out with soap and water isn’t going to get your wax out. In addition, you don’t want candle wax clogging your sink drain. The key is to clean the pouring pot while it is still warm. Your wax will remaining fluid for a short time after you have poured your candles. While your pouring pot is still warm, wipe it out with a paper towel. Once you are sure you have all of the wax out of the pouring pot, you can then wash the pouring pot with dish soap and warm water. By washing the pouring pot you will remove and lingering fragrance and ensure your pouring pot is ready for your next batch.

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Repeat These Steps

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Repeat These StepsNow, you are going to repeat these steps two more times. Since you will have eight more jars and two more pounds of wax left, you will be able to create two more batches of candles. Of course, you will need to choose a different fragrance oil and need to decide on the next color. However, all the other steps should be done the exact same way to prevent issues.

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Setting Up and Usage of Your Candles

Joy Wax Candle Making Kit Setting Up and Usage of Your CandlesFinally, you have finished creating all twelve of your homemade candles! Now, there are just a few things to be aware of before you are ready to start burning them. First, absolutely do not attempt to cool your candles faster by placing them in the refrigerator. If a candle cools too quickly, then it is likely to pull away from the jar. If the candle does not completely adhere to the jar your candle will look like it has wet spots. Second, you may get better results if you want at least three days to let your candles rest before burning. During this time keep the candles covered. Once the candles have cured, trim the wicks to about 1/4 inch before burning them. Finally, make sure you use the warning labels if you are going to share or sell these candles. We hope that you had fun creating this project and that you enjoy your new scented candles.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe EggsEaster Basket Candles Recipe Preparing the Easter Egg Embeds

First, we are going to get the egg embeds ready. You will end up making twenty little Easter Eggs in each color, which may be too many. So, you can use any possible extras as wax tart melts to avoid waste. Once these are done you can set them aside to use in a later step.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe Creating the Yellow Easter Egg Embeds

Now, you are going to create your first batch of Egg Embeds. Use a double boiler to melt 30 grams of your Pillar of Bliss Wax. Afterwards, use a toothpick to add in a tiny bit of Yellow Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye and mix in the color. To add the yellow dye, dip the toothpick in the candle colorant then dip it in the melted candle wax.  Next, add and incorporate 3 grams of the Carrot Cake Fragrance Oil. Finally, pour the wax into your  Easter egg embed mold. Once they set up, remove them and set them aside for later use.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe Creating the Pink Easter Egg Embeds

Now, melt more wax to create the second batch of eggs. Put 30 grams of the Pillar of Bliss Wax into the double boiler. Then, once again, use a toothpick to add in a tiny bit of the Red Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye and 3 grams of the Carrot Cake Fragrance. Mix these ingredients into the batch and pour into the embed mold. Later, pop out your eggs and put them with your yellow Easter eggs.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe Finished EggsEaster Basket Candles Recipe Creating the Blue Easter Egg Embeds

Next, create the blue egg embeds for the top your candle. Use the double boiler to melt 30 grams of the Pillar of Bliss Wax. Add color to the wax with Blue Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye and a toothpick. Scent your wax with 3 grams of the Carrot Cake Fragrance Oil. Mix well and pour into the Easter Egg Embed Mold. Then, remove your eggs and place them with the others.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe Creating the Purple Easter Egg Embeds

Finally, make the purple eggs to decorate the candle near the end of this process. Melt 30 grams of the Pillar of Bliss Wax in the double boiler. Scent the wax with 3 grams of the Carrot Cake Fragrance Oil and color the wax with Purple Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye using a toothpick. Now, wait for the eggs to set up, remove them, and place them with all the other finished eggs.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe Preparing the Easter Basket Grass

Second, we are going to create the green grass on top of the candle. We will create a solid chunk of green wax. Then, we will grate the wax into small pieces. These pieces will be sprinkled on top of your candles after all the layers are created. Thus, it will appear as though your candle has little Easter Eggs hidden in the green grass.

EEaster Basket Candles Recipe Green Waxaster Basket Candles Recipe Preparing the Green Wax

Now, we are going to prepare the wax that will be used as green grass. So, weigh and melt 200 grams of the Joy Wax. Then, add five drops of Green Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye. Also, add 20 grams of Carrot Cake Fragrance Oil. Mix this mixture well to evenly disperse the color and scent. Next, pour your wax from before into a paper bowl.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe Shred Easter Basket Candles Recipe Shredding the Green Wax

Next, we will shred the wax to make it possible to sprinkle on the candles. Once it sets up, remove the solid chunk of green wax for your paper bowl. Then, use a cheese grater to shred the wax into a medium sized bowl. Set the finished grass aside for later use. You will have enough grass to top both of the candles we are making today.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe Creating the Candle Layers

Thirdly, you are going to create the actual candle part of this recipe. We will use four colored layers and three white layers to entirely fill the jar. When adding colorant, we use a dip a toothpick in the candle dye then into the melted wax.  We did this for each colored layer.  This prevented too much dye from being added.  It ensures a nice pastel candle color.  Also, make sure that each layer is fully set up before you proceed to the next layer. Further, we suggest that you work slowly and pour the wax into the center of the jar when you add a new layer.  Pouring in this manner will help you keep the layers level and even.  Also, make sure your jar will not be disturbed as each layer sets up.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe Adhering the Wicks

First, you will need to adhere two wicks to the bottom of each of your jars. You can use hot glue to make sure that they each stay in place as you pour your layers. Otherwise, they may move during the process. This movement could result in the candle not being able to burn properly or the wicks being off center. Either way, you’ll want to prevent this.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe Blue and WhiteEaster Basket Candles Recipe Creating the Blue and White Layers

Next, you will be creating the first two layers for this candle. Take 200 grams of Joy Wax and melt it in the double boiler. Then, use a toothpick to add in a tiny bit of the Blue Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye and 20 grams of the Carrot Cake Fragrance Oil. Now, add 100 grams of the blue wax to each of the candle jars. It may help to weigh this into another bowl before pouring.

After, make sure that this layer is completely set up. Then, your can begin the white layer. Weigh and melt 50 grams of the Joy Wax. Add 5 grams of the fragrance oil and mix well. Now, pour 25 grams of the wax into each of the candles.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe Purple and WhiteEaster Basket Candles Recipe Creating the Purple and White Layers

Now, you will be creating the next two candle layers. Weigh and melt 200 grams of the Joy Wax in a double boiler. Then, add a tiny bit of the Purple Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye and 20 grams of the fragrance oil. After the white layer is entirely set up, pour 100 grams of the purple wax to each jar to create the next layer.

Later, you will be adding the second white layer. After the purple layer is completely set up, begin by melting 50 grams of the Joy Wax in the double boiler. Then, add 5 grams of the Carrot Cake Fragrance Oil. Finally, pour 25 grams of the wax into each of the candles.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe Creating the Yellow and White LayersEaster Basket Candles Recipe Creating the Yellow and White Layers

Next, create the yellow and another white layer for the candle. So, weigh and melt 200 grams of Joy Wax in a the double boiler. Later, add a tiny bit of the Yellow Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye along with 20 grams of the fragrance oil. Mix well and wait for the previous layer to fully set up. Then, add 100 grams of the yellow wax to each of the candles.

Then, you are going to make the final white layer. After the yellow layer is entirely set up, get 50 grams of Joy Candle Wax melting in the double boiler. Next, add 5 grams of Carrot Cake Fragrance and mix well. Pour 25 grams of the wax into each of the candles.

Easter Basket Candles Recipe Pink LayerEaster Basket Candles Recipe Creating the Pink Layer

Then, add a tiny bit of the Pink Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye and 20 grams of the Carrot Cake Fragrance Oil. After you mix this well, check that the previous layer is set up. Now, your candle is finished and ready for you to use!

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit

Soy Wax Candle Making KitThe Natures Garden Soy Wax Candle Making Kit is a perfect and simple way to create candles of various scents. This kit comes with all of the necessary ingredients that are needed to create candles. Plus, the kit comes with a printed page of directions that are easy to follow. So, this is a perfect introduction into candle making for those that have not yet tried creating their own candles.

While this is not my first candle creation, I still enjoyed creating this kit. It was nice to have a recipe planned out, so I could just enjoy the coloring and scenting aspects of the project. For instance, I created one candle that was Vanilla Silk on the bottom and Hot Baked Apple Pie on the top. Honestly, I cannot wait to try it out! So whether you have never created a candle or are just looking for an easy craft night, this candle making kit may be something you’ll want to try out!

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit Ingredients From Natures Garden

Soy Wax Kit

Pouring Pot

Thermometer

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit Other Equipment Needed

A Stove Top

Hot Glue Gun and Hot Glue Sticks

A Stainless or wooden spoon (don’t use plastic)

A Pan (this will be used to create a double boiler by adding ½” of water)

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit Contents of the Soy Wax Kit

You will receive enough materials to create enough materials to create about 10 candles. Along with the soy wax, you will be provided with HTP candle wicks, hexagon jars (you will have a few extra), and four fragrance oils. These fragrance oils include Hot Baked Apple Pie, Vanilla Silk, Fresh Linen, and Floral Bouquet. So, pick your favorite candle scents! Additionally, you will receive two color blocks, burgundy and green. Finally, you will receive warning labels to place on the bottom of your jars. Since you will only need 3/8 of a color block at most for creating all of your candles, you can feel free to only use one or use both to create your candles.  You can save the rest, along with the extra jars for your next craft.

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit Sterilize and Prepare

Make sure that all of the equipment needed is ready for use. Also, be sure you have any equipment need that is not provided within your candle making kit. Further, be sure that your work area has been sanitized and you have enough room to create the candles, this will include your stove top. Also, be sure to plug in your hot glue gun so that it ready when you need it.

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit Candle Recipe

While we will be following various steps to create these soy wax candles, there will be a basic formula used for creating the candles in this kit. This candle recipe is the following: 1 pound of wax, 1/8 or less of a color block, and 1 oz to 1 ½ oz. of a fragrance oil.

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit Creating the Double Boiler

Soy Wax Candle Making KitThe double boiler will be created to prevent the wax from being scorched. First, take your pan and add about a half inch of water. Next, you should place the pan on the stove. Later, you will boil the water. Also, you will set the pouring pot into the water once all the ingredients are added to the pouring pot.

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit Melting and Coloring Wax

Initially, you will put one entire pound of soy wax into the pouring pot. Also, add 1/8th or less of either your green or burgundy color block. Personally, I added 1/8th of the burgundy color block to my first two batches and 1/16th of the green color block to the last batch. However, you can add your color blocks in any amount you desire. Now, take your thermometer and set it into the pouring pot. As you melt your wax you should keep an eye on the temperature. Additionally, mix occasionally as it melts. Once the mixture of wax is at 175 degrees Fahrenheit you will be able to remove the pouring pot from the boiling water.

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit Preparing Your Wicks

Soy Wax Candle Making KitSecond, we will anchor your wicks into the glass candle jars. Take your hot glue gun and dab some glue on the metal of the wicks. Next, quickly place this end of the wick into the center of the bottom inside of the jar. Repeat this with your jars until each of the jars are filled.  This can be done while you are waiting for your wax to melt.

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit Adding a Fragrance Oil

Soy Wax Candle Making KitNext, you will wait for the temperature of the colored wax to drop to approximately 130 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the wax cools to this temperature, add one full oz. of your preferred scent. Then, mix well to incorporate the scent. You will have Hot Baked Apple Pie, Vanilla Silk, Fresh Linen, and Floral Bouquet available for you to choose. Personally, I picked Hot Baked Apple Pie, Vanilla Silk, and Fresh Linen for my candle batches. While you won’t necessarily need the fourth for this candle project, you can use your fourth to create a separate project at a later time. Alternatively, you can create smaller batches using each fragrance.  For example, if you used half a pound of wax, you could use 1/2 ounce of fragrance oil.  This would allow you to try each scent in the soy wax candle kit.

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit Pouring the Wax

Soy Wax Candle Making KitNow, wait for the scented wax mixture to cool further. Once the wax had cooled to about 110 degrees Fahrenheit and seems to be like a slushy in appearance it is ready to pour. So, when the wax reaches this temperature you can pour the wax into the glass jars. Get four jars ready and make sure the wicks are fairly straight and carefully pour the wax mixture. Make sure to avoid getting wax on the side of the jar. Also, make sure the wicks remain straight as the was cools. You can use something like pencils or butter knives to hold the wicks in their correct position.

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit Creating the Other Candles

Although you have completed your candles for your first scent, you still have enough materials to complete candles with two more scents. You will follow the same steps to create the next two batches. Be wary that you don’t ignore the temperatures when creating the remaining soy wax candles. It can be easy to get careless as you repeat the same steps, but the temperatures that certain steps are done are not arbitrary. For example, if you pour your wax at too hot of a temperature the candles are likely to have sunken parts and air pockets.  Soy wax also has a natural frosted look to it.  This is lessened by pouring at the correct temperature.

Soy Wax Candle Making Kit Using Your Candles

Soy Wax Candle Making KitFinally, your candles are finished! While you may be excited to test out your candles, you would want to wait a few days before lighting to allow your candle to cure. Once your soy candles have set up, trim the wick and place the lid on.  For the best results, freshly made candles should be able to rest for about three days. Also, you may want to consider adding the warning label stickers to the bottom of the candles to ensure that the candles are used correctly. This is especially important if you intend to sell your candles or to share your candles with friends. But, above all, I hope that you enjoy your candle creations!

Santa Hat Candle RecipeSanta Hat Candle Recipe

Everyone knows recognizes jolly ole Saint Nick in his festive red suit, eating those yummy snacks we leave each year.  We all know he loves his cookies.  So, here at Natures Garden, we were inspired by both Santa’s wardrobe and those delicious treats.  This cute candle idea that you can give as gift or to decorate your home this holiday season.  Our Santa Hat Candle Recipe also smells delicious.  It just so happens to use our Santa Snack Fragrance Oil.

Santa Hat Candle Recipe Ingredients Needed From Natures Garden:

Santa Hat Candle Recipe Other Ingredients Needed:

Scale
Spoon
Mixing Bowl
Ziplock Bag or Decorating Bag
Scissors
Pots (For Double Boiler)

Santa Hat Candle RecipeSanta Hat Candle Recipe Creating the Cupcake Bases:

First, you will need the cupcake mold.  In addition, will need two votive wick pins.  Place one wick pin in the center of each cavity of the cupcake mold. Use a scale to weigh out 7 ounces of Natures Garden’s Pillar of Bliss Candle Wax.   Next, melt the wax using a double boiler method to 195 degrees as we described in one of our candle classes.

For the cupcake base you will need to include 2 drops of brown liquid candle dye.  In addition, add 1 drop of our spectrum black liquid candle dye.  Stir to fully incorporate the color.  When the Pillar of Bliss wax has cooled to about 180 degrees you can go ahead and add your fragrance oil.  Use your scale to weigh out and add 0.7 ounces of Santa Snacks Fragrance Oil.  Stir thoroughly to  blend the fragrance oil with the wax.  When the temperature reaches 140 degrees, pour the wax into the cupcake Mold Market mold.  The temperature is very important because you do not want to melt the mold.  Let the cupcake bases to set up. Then, remove them from the molds once they harden.

Santa Hat Candle RecipeSanta Hat Candle Recipe Separating and Whipping the Wax:

Next we will be created the part of the candle that looks like Santa’s Hat.  We will be using Natures Garden’s Joy Wax.  Since this is a container wax, it is softer and also easy to whip and pipe.  Using a double boiler, weigh our and melt 10 ounces of Joy Wax. When your wax reaches 200 degrees, remove 3 ounces of wax.  Put this wax in a separate, small mixing bowl.  We will be using this white portion of wax for the white parts of the Santa hat. Let the temperature drop to about 175 degrees, before adding 0.3 ounces of Santa Snacks Fragrance Oil.

Allow the wax to set up slightly.  You want the wax to be at a slush consistency.  Whip the wax with a spoon or fork.  Put the wax on top of the base of each cupcake.  You want it to look like the white portion of Santa’s hat.  However, you should save about ½ ounce of wax. This waxs will used for the two white balls that go on the top of each Santa hat.  Set the remaining wax aside, we will come back to it.

Santa Hat Candle RecipeSanta Hat Candle Recipe Piping the Wax:

The remaining Joy Wax will be colored red.  We will use it in the red part of the Santa hats.  Allow the remaining wax to reach 200 degrees.  Add 4 drops of Spectrum Liquid Red Candle Dye.  Also, use a toothpick to add a small amount of black liquid candle dye. Use a mixing spoon to blend the colorant in with the candle wax.  Let the temperature of the Joy Wax to drop to 175 degrees before adding 0.7 ounces of Santa’s Snacks Fragrance Oil.  Stir well to blend.

Now, we will be piping the wax.  You will need a decorating bag or a ziplock bag. Once the wax has a frosting like consistency, place it in a ziplock bag. Then, cut the corner of the bag so you can pipe the wax.  Pipe the wax in a circular motion on top of the cupcake.  You want the wax to look like Santa’s hat, sort of a triangle shape.  This means wider at the base, and narrower going up.

Santa Hat Candle RecipeSanta Hat Candle Recipe the Finishing Touches:

For the finally part you will need to wear gloves.  Using the white wax you saved earlie, create two white balls by rolling it in the palms of your hands. Place these white balls on top of the red wax. Once the candles have set up, remove the wick pins and thread the wick through the candle.  Your candles can now be used or given as Christmas gifts to your family and friends.

Reindeer Poo Candle RecipeReindeer Poo Candle Recipe

It’s that time of year, the holidays are upon us.  Here at Natures Garden we decided to come up with a fun candle recipe using one of our customers’ favorite scents, Reindeer Poo.  This recipe uses our sustainable palm wax, whipped Joy Wax, and of course our Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil.  We feel even Santa Claus, Rudolph, and Santa’s reindeer will get a chuckle out of this fun scented Reindeer Poo candle recipe.

Reindeer Poo Candle Recipe Ingredient Available at Natures Garden

Palm Container Wax
Joy Wax- 1 SLAB
Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye- Blue 1oz.
Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye- BROWN 1oz.
Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil
Deer and Santa Embed Mold
CD Candle Wicks
POURING POT
Thermometer
Gloves

Reindeer Poo Candle Recipe Other Ingredients Needed

16 oz. Glass Apothecary Jar
Scale
Mixing Spoons
Hot Glue Gun
Toothpicks
Pots- These will be used for your double boiler.

Reindeer Poo Candle Recipe Prepare the Reindeer EmbedsReindeer Poo Candle Recipe Prepare the Embeds

First, we will prepare the reindeer embeds.  These will later be placed on the top of the candle.  You will need palm wax, brown liquid candle dye, Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil, the Santa and Deer Embed Mold, your scale, and a toothpick.  Weigh out 1 oz of Natures Garden’s sustainable palm container wax.  Melt the palm wax to 210 degrees Fahrenheit.  Next, add 0.1 ounces of Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil.  Also, use a toothpick to add the brown candle colorant.  Simply dip the toothpick in the brown dye and then into your candle wax.  Finally, mix well to incorporate the brown colorant.  Normally you would want to pour this wax at 200 degrees Fahrenheit.  However, since we are pouring into a plastic mold, pouring at that temperature would likely cause the mold to melt.  So, pour the wax at 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

Reindeer Poo Candle Recipe Prepare the Poo EmbedsNow, we will be preparing the poo that will also go on the top of the candle.  For these, we found our Joy Wax works best.  We did not add fragrance oil to them.  You will want to make five or six brown balls of poo.  Weigh out 1/2 ounce of Joy Candle Wax.  Melt the wax to 200 degrees Fahrenheit using a double boiler.  Then, use another toothpick to add a tiny bit of brown candle dye.  Once again, mix to blend the color.  Allow the wax to harden a bit.  While wearing gloves, roll small amounts of the wax in the palms of your hands, creating five or six small balls.   You will set these aside for later along with the reindeer embeds.

Next, we will be creating the blue part of the candle.  Prior to creating this portion, or while you are waiting for your wax to melt, use your hot glue gun to adhere to wick to the bottom of the apothecary jar.  Make sure the candle wicks are straight and centered.  Using a double boiler, melt 16 ounces of the palm container wax to 210 degrees Fahrenheit.  Once melted, in the same manner you did before, use a toothpick to add a small amount of blue liquid candle dye.  Then, at about 200 degrees Fahrenheit, add 1.5 ounces of Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil.  Mix well.  You will want to work quickly so you can pour the palm wax at 200 degrees Fahrenheit.  By pouring the wax at a high temperature the crystals will be able to form nicely in the wax.  Once the palm wax has set up move to the next step.

Reindeer Poo Candle Recipe Prepare the Joy WaxReindeer Poo Candle Recipe Prepare the Joy Wax Portion of the Candle

Now, we will be preparing the snow that rests on the top of the palm wax candle.  For this part, we will be using Joy Wax.  Once again, you will need you scale.  Weigh out 3 ounces of Joy Candle Wax.  We will not be adding color to this part of the candle.  So, once your wax reaches 170 degrees go ahead and add your fragrance oil.  Add 0.3 ounces of Reindeer Poo scent and mix to blend the fragrance.  Allow the wax to set up a bit.  We will be whipping the wax therefore, you want it to have a slush-like consistency.  Once it reaches this state, use a spoon to whip the wax.  Then, place it on top of the blue palm wax.  You want it to look like a blanket of snow.  Move quickly to the next step while the wax is still soft.

Reindeer Poo Candle Recipe Add the EmbedsReindeer Poo Candle Recipe Add the Finishing Touches

Add two of the reindeer embed you created earlier.  These should be placed on top of the white wax so they are slightly sinking in.  You do not want to push them in completely, but you do want to use the Joy Wax to hold them in place.  Then, do the same with the brown wax balls you created earlier.  Once you have added these finishing touches, your candle is ready to use!
