Depending on certain properties, like hardness, the exfoliating herbs may have different levels of effectiveness.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Poppy Seeds Whole

On great herb that you can use to create strong scrubs is the Poppy Seeds Whole. These seeds are hard enough to get a good scrub, which is perfect for feet and hands. Also, many people prefer this to salt for their more abrasive scrub recipes because you can use less and get similar results. This means less scrubby feeling with the same benefits. If you want to try this herb in soaps, then check out our Peppered Poppy Seed Cold Process Soap Recipe.

Natural Exfoliants for Soap Making: Juniper Berries Whole

Another fun herb that you can add to your homemade soaps is Juniper Berries Whole. These seeds are similar to the poppy seeds in abrasiveness, but they are a bit larger. The size can be used for a different appearance or to increase the exfoliation slightly. While the poppy seeds have a hard protective shell, these larger berries are hard and will be able to exfoliate a bit better. We added the Sweet Fennel Essential Oil to this recipe for a few different reasons. First of all, this oil is wonderful for your skin! Sweet fennel oil has been known to have anti-aging properties. So, this essential oil has all the good stuff that you would want in a really good facial! Second, this oil has a unique aroma that is similar to licorice. This aroma is a perfect accent to the lavender essential oil and creates a perfect blend of scents!

Also, we used the Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil for its signature scent and the wonderful properties it provides! First, pure lavender oil is great for skin care. This oil is known to be good for preventing acne, as it would inhibit the bacteria that causes the infection. Also, this essential oil has been said to reduce wrinkles, eczema, and many inflammatory based skin conditions. Another reason why this oil was added to the facial was its scent. This natural oil has a lovely, true lavender scent that is sweet, floral, and herbal. This calming aroma is adored by many and is perfect for naturally scenting your facial!

Best Essential Oil Blends Patchouli Infused Hair Conditioner RecipeBest Essential Oil Blends Patchouli Infused Hair Conditioner Recipe

Next, we have the wonderful and all natural Patchouli Infused Hair Conditioner Recipe! This homemade hair care recipe is perfect for replenishing your hair’s much needed moisture. This nourishment is due to the blend of ingredients we added. These ingredients include a variety of butters and oils that perfect for your hair. Trust us, these oils and butters know how to care for your hair! Plus, homemade hair products won’t contain any of the harsh chemicals that are commonplace in commercial conditioners. So, it is a win all around!

Furthermore, this recipe uses a perfect blend of Lavandin Grosso and Patchouli Essential Oils. This both provides either hair care benefits or a lovely, natural aroma for your hair! While lavandin has some amazing properties for the skin, it was mostly included in this recipe for its amazing lavender scent. Further, we added patchouli mainly for its wonderful hair care qualities.

Best Essential Oil Blends Patchouli Infused Hair Conditioner Recipe PatchouliFirst, we added our Patchouli Essential Oil to this hair care recipe. This oil is often described as a strong, herbal and earthy scent. This aroma is often thought to be overpowering, but we add significantly less compared to our strong, lavender aroma. Thus, this scent works out to be very lovely. Plus, this oil is essential for its hair care properties! This oil is thought to reduce dandruff and oily hair. Further, we included patchouli oil to promote hair growth! It has been said that this oil promotes healthy hair and increases the rate of growth.

Best Essential Oil Blends Patchouli Infused Hair Conditioner Recipe lavadin

Also, we included the fresh, floral Lavandin Grosso Pure Essential Oil in this recipe! This essential oil is stronger than a true lavender essential oil, but they are very similar in scent. So, this aroma is a perfect compliment to the strong earthy patchouli oil. While this scent is similar to lavender, it doesn’t have all of the same properties! For example, this oil will not soothe burns as lavender does. However, this essential oil has the same type of aroma that has been known to be perfect for boosting mood, calming you, and reducing stress levels.

Best Essential Oil Blends Stinky Feet Foot Powder Recipe Best Essential Oil Blends Stinky Feet Foot Powder Recipe

Finally, we have the Stinky Feet Foot Powder Recipe! We created this recipe with the sole purpose of eliminating foot odor. So, basically, these ingredients each have properties that will benefit your feet! For example, the essential oils both have amazing properties that are intended to get rid of the source of your odor. Since foot odor is often caused by microbes living in your shoes or on your feet, these oils will be perfect! Plus, these two essential oils smell great together. They are a clean essential oil blend that will be a huge improvement on your previous foot odor. So, kick off your shoes with pride and shout to the world, “I LOVE MY FEET!”

Beard Soap Recipe Get Familiar with the Soap Making Process

If this is your first time creating soap with lye, then you may want to read over a few of our classes for beginner soap makers. First, this Soap Making Safety class shares some basics, such as safe soapmaking practices, clean up, and the curing process. Additionally, the Soap Making Terminology class briefly shares soaper lingo and abbreviations that you may come across.

Finally, the classes of Making Your Own Soap Recipe  and Soap Making- Finding the Perfect Recipe explain the steps to creating a perfect bar of soap and creating your very own soap recipe. Further, the Soaping Oil Properties class goes over the impact different oils have on a bar of soap. On another note, you could create this beard soap recipe using a cold process method.  You would use the same ingredients, just a different process.  If you have never made cold process soap before, check out our Cold Process Soap Class 101.

Beard Soap Recipe Soaping From Scratch Safety Reminders

First, you should always wear the appropriate protection when making soap from scratch. Lye that has not fully become soap can react with skin and cause damage. Plus, you will want to avoid breathing in the fumes created as you make your lye water So, you will want to wear a face mask to protect your lungs and keep you aware. Also, it is in your best interest to wear protective clothing, eye protection, and gloves.

You also want to make sure all of your materials needed are prepared prior to starting. Make sure that anything you use to create soap is never used for cooking or in other body products. Meaning, your crockpot should remain as your soaping crockpot. Simply find or buy a cheap device that you won’t miss in the kitchen.

Finally, never ever add the water to your lye. Adding water to the lye could be very dangerous, creating a volcanic effect! Instead, remember that you should slowly add your lye to your water slowly. Stirring the water slowly as well.

Beard Soap Recipe Explaining the Beneficial Properties of the Ingredients Used

If you are curious as to why we’ve used some of these oils in this soap, then check out the following explanation of our reasons for choosing these specific ingredients. First of all, coconut oil is wonderful for facial hair as it will condition hair all the way down to the roots, which softens and will make your beard appear healthier. Plus, you won’t have to deal with an oily residue feeling, since this oil isn’t as greasy as many others. Additionally, this recipe uses Jojoba Oil, which is very similar to oils in the skin, which makes Jojoba Oil a great facial moisturizer! Plus, we included another great oil that can get all the way down to the pores, olive oil pomace. This oil not only helps repair follicles, but leaves a nice shine.

Next, shea butter is wonderful for repairing hair damage, moisturizing, and promoting healthy growth. Also, we included sweet almond oil to help with any ingrown facial hairs and reducing hair loss. Plus, castor oil was added as it contains vitamin E, minerals, antibacterial properties, and anti-fungal properties. Plus, it can help reduce split ends and lead to a thicker beard, due to its conditioning strength. Further, cocoa butter is perfect for healthy facial hair as it strengthens the hair and add volume. Then, we used Lanolin to care for the skin beneath your beard  to protect against dry skin and burns. Additionally, the Gurjan Balsam Essential Oil is very beneficial for eliminating and preventing dandruff from your beard by cleansing the scalp of this dry skin. Finally, we added sesame seed oil to act as a natural sunscreen as well as prevent premature graying of hair and help darken your hair.

Beard Soap Recipe Weighing and Melting Your Soaping OilsBeard Soap Recipe Weighing and Melting Your Soaping Oils

First, you are going to prepare all of the beneficial soaping oils and butters for this hot process soaping recipe. So, you are going to tare the weight of one of your mixing bowls on the scale. Then, weigh out 272 grams of the Shea Butter, 272 grams of the Cocoa Butter Golden Natural, 163 grams of the Sweet Almond Oil, 68 grams of the Olive Oil Pomace, 68 grams of the Sesame Seed Oil, 41 grams of the Lanolin, 340 grams of the Coconut Oil 76, 68 grams of the Castor Oil, and 68 grams of the Jojoba Oil into the same bowl.

Now, you are going to melt all of your weighed soaping oils and butters. So, you will turn your crockpot on to a low setting. Then, place all of your oils and butters into this crockpot. You will heat the oils until they are all in a liquid state. You may want to stir these ingredients as they are melting to be sure the oils do not burn. While you are waiting for the oils and butters to melt, you may want to start creating your lye water mixture.

Beard Soap Recipe Creating Your Lye WaterBeard Soap Recipe Creating Your Lye Water

Next, you will be creating the lye water phase for your hot process soap recipe. You will want to do this in a well ventilated area. If you are not in a vented area, then go to one for this step. Also, make sure that you are wearing the necessary skin, safety gear. Then, separately weigh your 517 grams of the Distilled Water and your 182 grams of the Lye in two small bowls.  After, place your lye water in front of your and grab a rubber spatula. Gently stir the water as you slowly add the previously weighed amount of lye. This will create fumes, so make sure you are wearing your safety mask. Also, remember that you should never add water to the lye.

Beard Soap Recipe Mixing Your Oils and Lye SolutionBeard Soap Recipe Mixing Your Oils and Lye Solution

Now, you are going to begin combining the lye water with your melted oils in the crockpot. When combining the lye solution and oils it leads to a chemical reaction that makes soap. As you create this soap, be careful as you take your lye water and add it to your crockpot with the melted oils.

While we would normally worry about the temperatures of the oil and water phases in cold process soap, we are using hot process soap. This means that the ingredients can be combined at different temperatures as they will be heated together in the crockpot anyways. Now, stick blend the mixture as it is in the crockpot until the batter reaches trace. If you aren’t sure, trace is the point in which the soap batch begins to get a bit thicker and an almost pudding-like consistency. Typically, I will take some of the batch up in a spatula and allow it to fall as I move the spatula back and forth across the top. If there is a slight line left on top of your batter, then you are at trace. If not, keep on mixing until you can see the trace!

Beard Soap Recipe Placing the Lid on the CrockpotBeard Soap Recipe Placing the Lid on the Crockpot

After you reach trace, you can place the lid on your crockpot to allow the batch to cook. However, you won’t simply leave the batch entire unattended. But, you will want to stir your batch periodically to allow the batter to be heated evenly. Otherwise, the bottom of your batch may burn. So, not stirring could lead the soap to not form correctly.

Additionally, the time that it will take for your soap to finish could vary. Typically, it should take about an hour to finish cooking, but this depends on each individual crock pot and the exact temperature that is given on the low setting. So, you will need to determine the end point by the appearance of the soap batch as it is cooking. You will need to wait for the batter to look like mashed potatoes and the consistency will feel as thick as mashed potatoes as well. Now, you’ll be ready for the next step.

Beard Soap Recipe Adding the Essential OilBeard Soap Recipe Adding the Essential Oil

Once your soap batter takes on the appearance of mashed potatoes, it will be time to incorporate the scent. Not only does the Gurjan Balsam Essential Oil add a nice, manly scent, but this ingredient provides some benefits to your beard, which were described above. Now, weigh out 100 grams of the Gurjan Balsam Essential Oil. Then, mix this essential oil into the batter well to ensure that it is fully incorporated.

Beard Soap Recipe Placing Your Soap Batter into the MoldsBeard Soap Recipe Placing Your Soap Batter into the Molds

Next, you are going to take the finished soap batter and fill your silicone soap molds. So, retrieve your clean 4 cavity silicone soap mold and place it on the surface of your work space. Then, fill each of the mold cavities with your hot process soap batter to create four individual loaves of Beard Soap.

Also, you will want to try to eliminate any are pockets that could be created as you transfer the soap. So, lift and tap the filled molds on the table top a few times. This will help release any air bubbles that may be trapped under the surface. Then, just let your soap loaves harden and cool in a place where they won’t be moved.

BBeard Soap Recipe Finishing Up the Hot Process Soapseard Soap Recipe Finishing Up the Hot Process Soaps

Finally, you can remove your hardened soaps from their molds. While cold process soaps need to cure for a about a month, this recipe is made using the hot process soaping method. This method will speed up the curing process with heat to make sure that all of the lye has reacted with the oils and butters. Thus, the lye will not be able to cause damage to the skin. Meaning, this awesome beard soap will be ready for immediate use! After, you can cut your soap loaves into usable sized bars of beard soap. Also, the mitre box and cutter will be helpful in cutting your finished soaps. These tools make it easier to cut your loaves and keep the cuts sharp and even. Also, using these will help to cut the loaf into more evenly sized bars. Now, your hot process beard soaps are ready to use, wash, and protect your beard!

As you can tell from this blog, we only included the best oils for your beard! So, clean and care for your beard at the same time with this amazing beard soap!

Before you begin, make sure that your area and supplies are ready to use. First, make sure that you have a well ventilated area available to create your cp soap that is far away from children and pets. Also, have the appropriate safety attire ready for your own use. Next, clean up the areas that you intend to use for creating this soap. Finally, sanitize the equipment that you will be working with for this recipe. These steps will make this process easier for you and safer for everyone.

Peeps Cold Process Soap Recipe Creating the PeepsPeeps Cold Process Soap Recipe Creating the Peeps

First, you are going to create the melt and pout peep bunny soaps. These will be used to top the cold process soap that you will be making some later steps. So, before you begin the portion of the recipe that deals with the cold process soap you will be creating eight bunny peeps with melt and pour soap. When the time comes, you can choose to have two of each color or have a different color combination off peep bunny soaps. But, we will provide the amounts needed to achieve the correct colors. So, lets start with the melt and pour.

Peeps Cold Process Soap Recipe Melting the Soap

Now, you are going to melt the soap needed to create the bunny peep soaps. Since each peep will require 40 grams of melt and pour soap and we are creating two at a time, we will begin by melting 80 grams of the Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap. Melt this in 30 second increments. After you color this portion of your soap, you will melt three additional portions in their own bowls to be colored.

Next, you can add the color and scent to your melted soap. Take the melted 80 grams of Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap from the previous step. Add 4 grams of the Yummy Gummy Fragrance Oil and the colorant of your choice. Depending on you decision, you will use 2 grams of Neon Pink, 2 grams of Deep Purple, 2 grams of Neon Blue, or 1 gram of Neon Yellow. You can either do a set of each color, or pick your favorites.

Then, you can fill the bunny peeps silicone soap mold. After you color your melt and pour soap, you can pour it into the molds. This should fill two bunny molds. Also, make sure you spray the top of the soap before you move on to you next batch of melt and pour. Once you have repeated these steps to get eight filled bunnies, then its time to move on to the next step.

Finally, the last step of the melt and pour process is to cover the bunny peeps in sugar. Once the soap is set up, remove them from the mold. Next, spray the peep bunny soaps with rubbing alcohol to get the sugar to adhere. After, cover the peeps in sugar and be sure to remember the sides as well. Next, let them dry before spraying and coating the backs of your bunny soaps.

Second, we are going to create the cold process soap portion of this recipe. Set your sugar coated peep bunny soaps aside. After the cp soap is set up in the mold, these will be used in decorate the top of the loaf. Until then, we will use the same four different colors along with white to create a swirled cp soap. Thus, we will be using an in the pot swirl technique.  So, lets get the cold process soap started.

Next, we are going to get some medium mixing bowls ready with colorants. While we will only have four colors, you will need to have five bowls. Also, we will be adding 225 grams of soap to each so make sure the bowls are big enough.

So, in each of the bowls we will add one color or titanium dioxide. You will put 5 grams of Neon Yellow FUN Soap Colorant in the first bowl and in the second you will put 5 grams of Neon Pink FUN Soap Colorant. The third will have you put in 4 grams of Deep Purple FUN Soap Colorant and the fourth will have 4 grams of Neon Blue FUN Soap Colorant. Next, we are going to set some of our white soap aside for later use. Take the bowl containing the Titanium dioxide with soap and separate 225 grams of the batter. Your smaller portion will be used with the colors to swirl the soap. The larger portion will be used in a later step to top the loaf.

Now, we are going to swirl the soap colors to get ready for pouring. Find a large bowl that will be able to hold all this soap. Add the white soap the the large bowl first. Then, pour each of the colors into the bowl, right on top of each other. After, use a spatula to swirl, which can be done by placing your spatula in the center of the bowl and moving in a clockwise manner. Next, pour your batter in the soap mold.

Finally, we are going to do the last few things to finish off this recipe. First, add the remaining portion of white soap to the top of your loaf. Do your best to make this resemble marshmallow fluff. Then, place the peeps bunny soap that were made previously on top of the white soap. After 24 hours you can remove the cold process soap from the loaf mold and when its hard you can cut the soap. Then, once it has fully cured your soap will be ready to use!
