First, you are going to need to weigh out the proper amount for the Coarse Ground Dead Sea Salt. This salt will be separated and used to create the layers in the bath salt recipe. Each of these layers will need to start out with an equal portion of the Dead Sea Salt to each of the five mixing bowls. So, the total amount of the Dead Sea Slat, which is 904 grams, will be divided into 216 grams of sea salt for each bowl. While you can go through the process of mixing and coloring each bowl individually, it may be faster to weigh out the salt for each of the five portions during this step.

This is sure to make you bath product more fun and bubbly. So, let’s start adding this ingredient to measured the Dead Sea Salt. Since you will be using a total of 176 grams of SCl, each of your five mixing bowls will need about 35.2 grams. This will make sure that each scoop into your bath contains both of these ingredients and will lead to an even better bath product.

Relax and Rejuvenate the Soul

This entry was posted in bath and body, bath products, bath salts, body spray, cosmetic ingredients, creative, Fragrance Oils, homemade, Natures Garden and tagged , , , , , , , , , , , on by .

fragrance oilsWhat’s your name & Your Company Name:  Jennifer – Harmony Designs & Soaps

My slogan is: Relax & Rejuvenate the Soul.

I absolutely love creating.  It makes me feel such an accomplishment seeing the before and after. I love all the fragrance oils and love experimenting with them. Nature inspired my shop and my product design. A lot of my inspiration comes from nature. I am also a nature photographer and so much enjoy being outside and capturing nature’s beauty.

I lost my Dad to cancer in 2007 and he inspired me to do what I love to do. I know he would be very proud of me today.

I carry a variety of products in my Etsy shop, lip balms, body sprays, kanzashi hair flowers and bath salts just to name a few. I am always inspired to try new things. Sometimes they work out sometimes they don’t, I guess that’s called trial and error. Natures Garden carries so many products to help give you a kick start to create.

I came up with the name Harmony Designs because I thought about its meaning and it fit my shop perfectly.

Meaning: internal calm : balance, tranquility. I love that my shop name relays a tranquil feeling. The whole idea behind starting my shop was that I wanted to help people relax and have that “me” time that we all crave. We all have such busy lives and need that little bit of peace and quiet after a long day at work. My bath salts are wonderful for that reason. I use all my products myself and wouldn’t put anything out there that I didn’t wholeheartedly believe in. I love when people love my products. It makes me feel what I do is successful. Without my wonderful customers my shop wouldn’t exist.

Even when I was little I loved creating, painting and whatever else my little creative mind could get a hold on. I am pretty much a Jane of all trades. I do wear a lot of hats but wouldn’t want it any other way.  I love making favors for Weddings! I love being able to share in someones special moment. Just a side note my wedding is coming up in September and I am so excited! I know how it feels to want something special for your wedding so I take a lot of pride in making wedding favors.

Also when I was little I remember the lovely aromas coming from the kitchen when my parents were baking. I think that is one of the reasons I love my soy tart melts so much. I love all the dessert fragrances and it brings back those wonderful memories of my Dad making peach cobbler or my Mom baking. I love that my soy tart melts last and fill the house with so many wonderful Natures Garden Fragrances!

Various Scented Bath Products

This entry was posted in bath and body, creative, Fragrance Oils, fun projects, handmade soap, homemade soap, lotion, Natures Garden Fragrance Oils and tagged , , , , , , , , , , on by .

fragrance oils1. What’s your name & Your Company Name:  My name is Amelia Ruth Thompson, owner & founder of Radical Works.

2. Why did you decide to go into business? What was your motivation? How long have you been in business?  I’ve been creating things literally my entire life. Over time, the things I would create would take up space; more space than I actually had. When in Spring 2009, a friend suggested, “Why don’t you sell things on Etsy?” So my original idea was simply to clear out space. I opened a shop, but nothing sold. In 2010, the same friend invited me to share a table with her at Louisianime II. There, I sold many of my crafts, with a lady suggesting I open a business to sell items all the time. So the following week, I opened a new shop, Radical Works. From there, I’ve added many difference types of products; as Radical Works is not limited to a single category. Having a shop has not only helped me maintain my crafts and organization, but it has also opened up my mind to many different types of crafts. I always try to include different types within other items.

3. What products do you make and sell?  Starting off, I had Radical Bears (teddy bears), magnets, and some leather-working items. In the more recent inventory, I have Radical Bears, hats, scarves, gloves, along with various bath products. This includes soap, bath salts, and perfumes. I’ve also made and sold bath bombs & lotions at a craft show.

4. What are your business goals?  I try to set short term goals for myself, as the long term goals can quickly change. But the main goal for my business is freedom through expression. Too many times I’ve been the “odd ball out” in most cases. With my business, it gives me the avenue and method to express myself to others, as well as have others find themselves within my products. It has always been a message in my business: “I never make anything I would like myself”.

5. What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  The main products I purchase from the awesome Natures Garden are their bases as well as their fragrances. The fragrances are what keep me coming back, and I love having the fragranced item with the purchases as well. I have a vase for the fragranced roses I’ve received over time.

fragrance oilWhat’s your name & Your Company Name?  My name is Ms. M. Antwane Sheppard and I own Raw Essence – All Natural Bath & Spa Products

Why did you decide to go into business?  What was your motivation?  How long have you been in business?  I’ve been in business for all of six months and the way I got into this business is a sad but true story.  I went to a beautician who had styled my hair in a way that caused significant hair lost. I began to research different oils and their benefits, in effort to develop a concoction that would promote hair growth.   Here’s what I initially came up with – Emu Oil, Castor Oil, Sulfur Sublimed and Eucalyptus – and my hair grew back, longer than it was before going to the beautician, and within four months. With the knowledge I had gained on the wonderful benefits of oils, I started making soaps, sugar scrubs and bath salts. I gave them as gifts to co-workers and family.  Soon after, Raw Essence was born.  What motivates me is the idea of being able to help others and sharing the knowledge of living a more healthy and natural life.

What products do you make and sell?  I make and sell: two types of hair growth serums, handmade soaps, deodorant, flavored lip balms, scented sugar scrubs, bath salts, several types of lotions, whipped body butters, body splashes and solid perfumes, kissable massage oils, scented candles, aroma melts, reed diffusers, and room & linen sprays.

What are your business goals?  I would like to grow Raw Essence to a point where I could maybe give up my day job.  ….Maybe?

What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  I use fragrance oils from Natures Garden; my favorite and best-selling is Cucumber Melon. My husband’s favorite and second best-selling is Linen Breeze. I also use NG’s additives, like Rose Buds, Lemon Peels, and Poppy Seeds as well as their packaging containers, like lip balm pots. The best thing about Natures Garden “in my opinion” is their SUPER FAST SHIPPING!!! I never have had to wait days for my orders to arrive and that is so very important to me and the success of Raw Essence.

Handcrafted Spa Products

fragrance oils1. What’s your name & Your Company Name:  My Name is Teri Lang Patterson and my company is Body Systems Skincare Co.

2. Why did you decide to go into business? What was your motivation? How long have you been in business?  I began making natural bath products for my family in 2000 when my allergies were so bad that I just couldn’t find great products “on the shelf.” In 2002 I was let go from my main job at an Advertising Agency and that’s when I decided to turn my hobby into a business.

3. What products do you make and sell?  Over these 10+ years we’ve sold a variety of bath/body products but finally realized the importance of simplifying. My husband calls this my “Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares'” problem of trying to carry too many products and scents to try to satisfy too many customers, like failing restaurants on the popular tv program. When chef goes to a restaurant that’s failing and finds a menu book of 100+ entrees and freaks out. Over the last 2 years we’ve tested out various fragrances from Nature’s Garden and settled on 9 main fragrances to simplify our Retail Line. We offer Scrubs, Lotions, Wash, Bombs & Salts in our main line plus some balms and specialty products. Our wholesale line of bulk professional products for spas’ use, allows for customization which we also depend on Nature’s Gardens vast inventory

4. What are your business goals?  Balance. Yes this sounds odd. When I first started the company over 10 years ago it was all about acquiring accounts and completing sales. That’s all fine and good until you wear yourself out. Our first wholesale account was MGM Properties in Las Vegas and I was working over 18 hours per day the first few years. I’m also a Fitness Instructor and at that time was also teaching up to 11 classes per week…with no problem! Because I didn’t keep my business/health/family in balance I suffered physically and wore myself out. Now I have a new perspective on “Success”. We’ve taken the first step in simplifying our main line, revamping our most popular products and next we’ll be enhancing our wholesale program. Success now means happy customers with happy AND healthy company owner!

5. What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  We use a variety of fragrance oils for our main retail line but also maintain staple fragrances for our bulk professional line. We have begun to focus on Custom Products & Private Labeling options and we couldn’t do this without the dependability of NG’s vast inventory of fabulous fragrances!

fragrance oils1.  What’s your name & Your Company Name:  My name is Amanda Stott and my company is Tiki Bar Soap

2.  Why did you decide to go into business?  What was your motivation?  How long have you been in business?  I started making handmade soap as a hobby in 2011 during graduate school, as a way to relieve stress.  I also had a hard time finding truly vegan products.  Everything always seemed to contain beeswax, or goat milk, or honey.  I wanted something to use that was vegan and good for my skin but that was fun to use and smelled good too.  After making a few batches, I handed out soap to everyone I worked with, friends, family, even the janitorial staff in my building.  Every evening when I would get home from school I was itching to make soap.  I was hooked!  Before long people began encouraging me to sell my soap, and were requesting gift baskets for their friends and family for the holidays.  I entered my first craft fair that year at Christmas and was surprised by how much I liked the sales aspect of the handcrafted industry.  I finished my PhD in computational chemistry in May 2012 and after working briefly as a postdoctoral research assistant decided to pursue my business full time.  If you would have asked me five years ago where I would be today my response would not be “selling handmade soap” but I love what I do and would not have it any other way!  My motivation for transitioning from hobby to “this is my full time job” is that I enjoy creating, I enjoy meeting people, and I enjoy the freedom to decide what I will do every morning when I wake up.  I am still just as busy, if not busier than I was when I was a student, but it feels good to be the one making the decisions.

3.  What products do you make and sell?  All of my products are vegan, and I recently reformulated all of my soaps to be palm oil free.  I make soaps, lotions, lotion bars, cremes, body butter, nail polish, solid perfume, bath salts, mineral makeup, body butter candles, mud mask, bubble bath bars, shampoo and conditioner bars, as well as baby and pet care products.

4.  What are your business goals?  My business goals are to get my products in front of as many people as possible!  I would love to one day have large wholesale orders and a production facility.  In the meantime my garage as a production area will have to suffice.  In addition, I am currently working on integrated productivity software solutions for web and mobile applications for the soapmaking industry.

5.  What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  My favorite products are the fragrance oils, essential oils, flavor oils, botanicals, soy body butter base, and pet shampoo base.  My favorite fragrance oils include gin martini, orange blossom, passion flower acai berry, lavender martini, goldie dreadlocks, and dragon’s blood.  May favorite flavor oils are buttercream frosting and kiss of death.  My favorite botanticals are carrot powder and frankincense tears.  I use the body butter base to create a range of products including body lotion and body cream.  I also use Natures Garden silky e-wax, optiphen plus, and btms for making handmade lotions and conditioner.

2. Why did you decide to go into business? What was your motivation? How long have you been in business?  We went into business as a result of our own family’s skin issues. We noticed that in commercially produced products the ingredients are often times harmful and contain small amounts of ingredients which are beneficial to your skin. Through intense research we learned that the ingredients such as Shea Butter, Olive Oil and Cocoa Butter are essential to soothing the increasing number of individuals with eczema, psoriasis and many other skin aliments. We have been in business for 10 years.
