Bath Bombs With SLS Recipe Preparation and Sanitation

Before you begin, you will want to choose a good place to work and sanitize everything. First, you should find a place that is not too humid as this recipe performs better in non-humid climates. So, those in humid areas should try to minimize this as much as possible. Also, you will want to make sure that you work space and all your equipment is sanitized to prevent potential contamination of you bath bombs.

Bath Bombs With SLS Recipe Weighing the Dry IngredientsBath Bombs With SLS Recipe Weighing the Dry Ingredients

First, you will be weighing the dry ingredients for both the yellow and orange colored halves. So, retrieve two of your four mixing bowls and your gram scale. In each of these two bowls, you will weigh out 256 grams of the citric acid, 83 grams of the Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, 560 grams of the baking soda, and 3 grams of the papaya leaf powder. Now, thoroughly mix the ingredients, break up any clumps, and set both of these bowls aside for later use as we move on to our wet ingredients.

Bath Bombs With SLS Recipe Weighing the Wet IngredientsBath Bombs With SLS Recipe Weighing the Wet Ingredients

Next, you will be weighing the wet ingredients for both the yellow and orange colored halves. So, take your other two bowls that should be clean and ready to use. Also, place them on your scale and tare your scale with the weight of the bowl. Now, add 8 grams of the Papaya Guava Mango Fragrance Oil and 9 grams of the Meadowfoam Seed Oil to each to your two bowls. Then, you can slowly add one of the bowls of wet ingredients to one of your bowls of dry ingredients. Repeat this with the other two bowls of wet ingredients and dry ingredients.

Bath Bombs With SLS Recipe Coloring Both of the MixturesBath Bombs With SLS Recipe Coloring Both of the Mixtures

Now, you are ready to add pigments to create both the yellow and orange colors for your mixtures. So, take one of your two bowls to color first. This bowl will be colored with Neon Yellow and Eye Poke Orange to create a bright yellow hue for half of your bath bomb. In order to create this, you will add 9 grams neon yellow FUN Soap Colorant and 2 grams Eye Poke Orange FUN Soap Colorant to this bowl. Use your hands to mix the colorant thoroughly.  Next, you will take the other bowl and use Jailhouse Red and Neon Red to create a fun orange color for the other half of your bath bomb. So, you will be adding 10 grams Jailhouse Red FUN Soap Colorant and 3 grams Neon Red FUN Soap Colorant to your second mixture bowl.  Again, with clean gloves, mix the colorant evenly so the color is fully incorporated into your ingredients.

Bath Bombs With SLS Recipe Filling the Orange Half of the Bath BombBath Bombs With SLS Recipe Filling the Orange Half of the Bath Bomb Mold

Next, it is time for you to add the orange mixture portion of the bath bomb to half of the ornament. First, you will need to spray the mixture with witch hazel. However, you will need to spray slowly as you mix. Since over spraying will activate the ingredients prematurely causing your bath bomb to fall apart, you will want to get this part right. You will know that you have added the right amount when mixture feels like crumbly dough in your hands. After, you can scoop the mixture into the mold half and pack it full.

Bath Bombs With SLS Recipe Filling the Yellow Half of the Bath BombBath Bombs With SLS Recipe Filling the Yellow Half of the Bath Bomb Mold

Now, you can fill the other half of your bath bomb mold. So, take your yellow mixture and spray in the appropriate amount of witch hazel. Just like last time, make sure that you don’t add more than you need as the ingredients will activate in the bowl and your bath bomb mixture will not stick together correctly. After you spray the right amount, you can pack the mixture into the second half of the bath bomb mold.

Bath Bombs With SLS Recipe Attaching the HalvesBath Bombs With SLS Recipe Attaching the Halves

Finally, you will attach the two mold halves and create the finished bath bomb. So, lightly spritz both the yellow half and the orange half with a little bit more witch hazel and attach the ornament halves together. Now, fill the rest of your ornaments until you have used up all of the yellow and orange mixtures to create your six bath bombs. Then, you will need to wait for the bath bombs to set up and harden. Only after this has happened can you remove the mango scented bath bombs from the ornament molds.

Bath Bombs With SLS Recipe Bubble Bath Ready

After all this waiting, your mango bath bombs are finally ready for you to use! Once you get these super cool bath bombs into the tub they will create all kinds of bubbles and fizz, which is all kinds of fun. Once you have tried out your own bath bombs, we would love to hear about what you thought about this recipe! White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Preparing Your Working Area

Before you begin creating your bath melts you should make sure that the area you will be working in is clean. Also, make sure you have an available stove within your working area that is clean. Additionally, make sure that your equipment, such as pots, a bowl, and a brownie bites mold, have been sanitized well. If you don’t clean your mold before you being the recipe, your mixture may cool before you can get a chance to pour. Further, you may want to start thinking about how you are going to package your finished bath melts. The recipe will create a total of twelve brownie bite sized bath melts, so be prepared with enough packaging.

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Weighing Your Ingredients

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe WeighInitially, you are going to want to weigh your mango butter, apricot kernel oil, beeswax, and white chocolate wafers into a medium sized bowl. Set the units of your scale to grams, set your bowl on the scale, and tare the weight of your bowl. Now, you can measure the 224 grams of mango butter. You will want to tare after adding this butter and continue to tare between your future additions. Weigh out 15 grams of Apricot Kernel Oil, 13 grams Beeswax White Pastilles, and five of your white chocolate wafers. We be melting all of the ingredients on the stove top.

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Melting Your Ingredients

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe MeltNext, we are going to use your two differently sized pots to create a double boiler. The double boiling method of melting is useful for preventing your ingredients in the mixture from scorching, which could ruin the recipe. So, lets begin!

Initially, we will go over how to create and correctly use a double boiler to melt the ingredients. First, fill your larger pot with some water. I’d suggest filling the pot with about a fourth of the way up with water.  This amount can be adjusted after you can see how the water level rises with the addition of the smaller pot. Now, you can take the medium sized pot and place that into the water of the larger pot. If your water level looks like it is high enough that the water could boil over into the smaller pot, then pour out some water. On the other hand, if your smaller pot White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Liquidbarely touches the water level, then you may want to increase your water level. Further, if you notice later on that the water is getting too close to the rim of the medium sized pot, you can remove the pot and readjust the water levels.

After you have adjusted the water, you can now take your previously measured ingredients and add them to the medium pot. Finally, you will boil the water until your mixture is liquid. You must watch carefully to make sure the water in the larger pot doesn’t boil over into your oils in the smaller pot as it could ruin your bath melt recipe.

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Scenting Your Bath Melts

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe BowlFirst, I would recommend transferring the mixture out of the pot. The pot is likely too hot to place on your scale and may keep your mixture too hot for you to add fragrance oil as well. Therefore, I would recommend that you take your newly melted ingredients and return the mixture to the bowl that you weighed these ingredients prior to melting. Afterward, we can add the fragrance oil to the mixture.

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe FragranceNext, we are going to add 4 grams of our White Chocolate Fragrance Oil to the mix of ingredients . However, the oils may be too hot and could burn off the scent. So, use your own discretion to determine the right time to add the fragrance oil. Once the fragrance oil is included, we’ll mix thoroughly yet quickly. Now, get ready to pour the mixture into our brownie bites mold.

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Pouring Into Your Mold

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Pour

Finally, we are going to pour the mixture into the 24 – brownie bites mold. You should be able to create twelve full bath melt squares with this recipes. Once all of the batter has been poured give the melts some time to set up undisturbed. Later, you can move the mold into the freezer. However, you need to make sure the bath melts are set up enough to move. If you are deciding whether to move the mold and aren’t sure if it is time, I’d recommend waiting a bit longer to prevent a potential disaster. Waiting longer before you move the bath melts to the freezer can’t hurt the recipe, but not waiting long enough could make a mess of your bath and body creation. Once you remove the brownie bites mold from your freezer you can remove your bath melts from the mold. Finally, enjoy your scrumptious white chocolate bath melts!

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Packaging Your Finished Bath Melts

Before packaging you should be aware that the bath melts can begin to melt in your hand. Be sure not to handle the melts too much. Additionally, the place you intend to store your bath melts shouldn’t exceed room temperature as the bath melts will likely melt this way as well. While melting doesn’t necessarily ruin the product, it will make transferring the bath melt to the bath tub more difficult.

While there is no one specific way to package your bath melts, I would recommend that you use  something that would require a minimal amount of touching and/or holding your finished bath melts. However, as long as your bath melts are packaged well enough to avoid getting dirty and haven’t melted entirely in your hand, then your product should be fine. The white chocolate bath melts that I had created were saved in a zip lock bag and stored at room temperature  for the time being, but feel free to use any method of storage that you have available.

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Using Your Finished Bath Melts

Once you have a nice, warm bath running, place just one of your bath melts under the running water of your tub. Including the bath melt while your bath is filling up will allow the oils to disperse more evenly throughout the bath water. The bath melts may make your tub slippery, you should be safe and use caution while getting in and out of the tub.

Adding more than a single bath melt to your tub could create a very slippery situation. While it may feel like it couldn’t hurt to use a few more of these little bath melts, remember it is always possible to have too much of a good thing. In this instance, adding multiple bath melts will cause there to be an excess of oils in your bath tub. All of this excess oil from these extra bath melts can sink to the bottom of your tub and have the potential to make your tub very slippery. While you still need to be cautious stepping in and out of the tub with a single bath melt, it is far less slippery than if you were to use more than a single bath melt. You’ll only need a single melt to notice the delicious white chocolate scent and feel a difference in your skin. So, it would be wasteful to use more bath melts than you need at one time. Plus, since you are saving all those extra bath melts, you can take even more baths with these delightful white chocolate bath melts!

Black Cherry Fragrance OilBlack Cherry Fragrance Oil – Fragrance Oil Spotlight

Natures Garden’s Black Cherry Fragrance Oil is an extremely strong aroma of sweet ripened black cherries.  Black Cherry trees are also known as Prunus serotina and the fruit that it bears is neither sweet nor sour, which makes it perfect for wines, jellies, and jams.  Native to Kentucky, black cherry trees grow the best in deep forests, but due to the animals and many types of birds that eat the fruit and spread the seeds, they are more likely to grow wild along sides of roads.  The average tree size reaches a height of 50 to 60 feet.  However, in Clark County Kentucky there is a champion black cherry tree that stands 95 feet tall.  I mention this because the black cherry tree is a valuable forestry plant because the wood is prized for carpentry as the strong, hard wood from this tree is close-grained and perfect for furniture and cabinets.  Black cherry trees grow in full sun and partial shade and prefer moist soil.  Once a black cherry tree is planted, it should not be moved as this will damage the shallow taproots.  In the spring, the tree will bear clusters of small, but stunning white, fragrant flowers which is truly a site to see.  Not only are the black cherry trees beautiful and the black cherries beyond delicious, the pit of the black cherry has been used to play games such as marbles.

What Does Black Cherry Fragrance Oil Smell Like?

Black Cherry Fragrance Oil by Natures Garden is an extremely powerful scent of ripened sweet black cherries.

How Do Our Customers Use Black Cherry Fragrance Oil?

For cleaning products the maximum usage is 5% and for room scenting purposes the maximum usage rate for this cherry fragrance oil is 50%.  In aroma beads and incense this fruit scent is nice and strong.

Let’s start with homemade bath and body products.  The maximum usage is 5%.  You can use black and burgundy soap colorant in the amount that pleases you.  Just a reminder, never use candle dye in any bath and body products.  Cold process soap testing results show that it pours perfectly with no ricing, no acceleration, and no separation.  It discolors to a very light beige and has good scent retention.  The vanillin content of Black Cherry Fragrance Oil is .2%.  This percentage includes all forms of vanillin.  In other homemade bath and body products it performed well and in perfumes it performs perfectly.

Candle makers, your turn!  The maximum usage is 5%.  You can use 6 drops of burgundy liquid candle dye plus 1 drop of black liquid candle dye per 4 pounds of wax. Never use crayons to color your candles as they will clog your wick.  Black Cherry Fragrance Oil performs perfectly in joy wax, wow wax, and is nice and strong in soy wax.  You can also create homemade candle wax tarts using Natures Garden pillar of bliss wax, the scent is nice and strong.

NG Aqua Di Gio Type Fragrance Oil is one of the best selling fragrance oils in the masculine category since its introduction to the Natures Garden fragrance family

NG Aqua Di Gio Type Fragrance OilFragrance Oil Spotlight

Sometimes in the fragrance industry, creating duplications of perfumes and colognes in the market can be quite the task.  Since many people know what the fragrance smells like, the duplication has to be dead on.  NG Aqua Di Gio Type fragrance oil could be the original scent’s identical twin.  But, this did not come easily at first.  It actually took numerous versions to be created before we finally had one that was perfect.  This fragrance oil is super sexy and is one of our top sellers.  Not only do the women love this scent on their man, but men love to smell this good too!  And, all bath and body items of this fragrance can be made at a fraction of the cost compared to many retail stores; making both men and women happy, happy, happy.

What does NG Aqua Di Gio Type Smell Like?

If you have not had the pleasure of smelling this unbelievable scent, it is described as such:  A sexy, fresh, aquatic aroma with bergamot, neroli, and tangerine; flowing into mid notes of rosemary, jasmine, and persimmon; all sitting on a woodsy base note of essential oil of patchouli.   In fact, one of our customers refers to this scent as “a fresh just want to attack your husband scent.”

How Do Our Customers Use NG Aqua Di Gio Type Fragrance Oil?

NG Aqua Di Gio Type Fragrance Oil is considered to be a MUST HAVE fragrance by many of our customers.

For those of you that are candle crafters; our customers use this fragrance oil in their soy, pillar, ecosoya, and Joy wax candles.  The scent is amazingly strong in the hot throw.  Some of our customers even use NG Aqua Di Gio Type Fragrance Oil in their oil burners and also make aroma beads with it too.

On the bath and body end, the possibilities for this fragrance oil are endless.  The usage percent for this fragrance oil is 5%, and is used to make:  Melt and pour soaps, body butters, homemade lotions, after shave butters, shower gels, perfume oils, body splashes, lotions bars, and bubble bombs.  Finally, for those of you that are cold process soapers, this fragrance received awesome reviews, and is a dream to soap.  Here are the official results:  Perfect Pour, no ricing, no acceleration, discolors to a butterscotch.  Awesome smell!

Melt and Pour Soap Interview

This entry was posted in bath and body, Fragrance Oils, fragrances, melt and pour soap, Natures Garden, soap colorants, soap dyes, vanilla white stabilizer and tagged , , , , , , , on by .

photoI started a couple years ago, and I love art and crafts. I have always loved bath products, color, and fragrances. What better than soaps where you get all that! I figured I’d play around making melt and pour, since I didn’t need to experiment with lye, and have the fun of creating. I needed some other things in my hair salon, besides shampoo, and jewelry, plus my customers are always asking me “what’s next? What’s new?” I thought I’d do a few soaps…well, I started ordering fragrances, etc. And I was hooked. And so were my customers. They wouldn’t let me stop making them. I’m now at the point of expanding my soap business, starting with Etsy. So far it’s been fun talking with people from all over!

Wow! What do I most like about your company? That’s a hard one. Besides customer service, wonderful fragrances, and value… I’d have to say the one thing I love love love, is your vanilla stabilizer. I was having a heck of a time with my soaps turning brown from vanilla. This has worked beautifully in my melt and pour soaps. A big “Thank you!”

I don’t have a website, and haven’t really been on Facebook much, but will be. Cindy Tedeschi is my face book name.

I haven’t been on twitter yet… I’m too busy checking out YouTube videos. It’s like having a craft class as often as you like. I have learned so much from so many talented people out there!

I’d like to make my soap business a part time hobby for now, eventually perhaps, more full time. I’ve been a hairdresser for 30 years, and love it. My joints from all the years are starting to get old, and one day, I might not be able to make an income doing hair any longer, and soaps is just a great thing to do!

My store name on Etsy is CLTCRAFTS

My hair salon is Tahoe Hair Co. South lake Tahoe , Ca. Where this soap picture was taken from.

Thank you again for taking the time to read this, and thank you for all you do.

Sincerely, Cindy Tedeschi
