Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe

Our next Christmas Craft Recipe is our Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe.  Now, while this may seem like an ordinary bath bomb, it is nothing but ordinary.  First, we found these festive sprinkles that were the inspiration for our holly berry bath fizzies.  I am in love with them and have to use them for my Christmas Cookies this year!  However, these sprinkles also worked perfectly to go with Natures Garden’s Holly Berry Fragrance Oil.  This fragrance oil smells delightful and happens to be a holiday favorite among the Natures Garden team members.  In addition, we have created the look of snow on the bath fizzies.  While this part was entirely accidental, it truly kicked these bath bombs up a notch, making them my personal favorite recipe of the season.

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Ingredients Found at Natures Garden

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Other Ingredients and Equipment You Will Need:

Witch Hazel (in spray bottle)
6- Clear Round Acrylic Fillable Ornaments
Mixing Bowls
Mixing Spoon
Scale
Holly Berry Sprinkles (Find these From Wilton)

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Prior to Preparing This Bath Fizzy Recipe

First, you want to make sure your work area is clean.  Also, be sure your mixing bowls and molds are clean and ready to use.  I also highly recommend wearing an apron to protect your clothing and gloves, glasses, and a mask. The glasses and mask are simply because the baking soda tends to float a bit on me when I add it to my bowl.  In addition, you want to prepare a bottle of witch hazel using your bullet bottle and sprayer.  I would also like to note that bath bombs should be prepared in non-humid climates.  Since bath bombs are activated by water, they can be slightly activated by moisture in the air.

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Prepare the White Portion

The Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe has two colors.  First, we will prepare the white half of the bath fizzies.  This half will also include the holly berries that decorate the bath bombs.  We will also talk about an optional idea at the end to make the white half look like snow!

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Total Recipe Amounts for the White Portion:
256 grams Citric Acid
560 grams Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)
9 grams Safflower Oil
8 grams Holly Berry Fragrance Oil
Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Prepare the Dry Ingredients for the White PortionHolly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Prepare the Dry Ingredients for the White Portion

First, we will prepare the dry ingredients for the white portion of the bath fizzies.  So, in a deep mixing bowl, add 256 grams of Natures Garden’s citric acid.  Then, use your hands to break up any clumps you find.  Then, add 560 grams of baking soda.  Again, use your hands to break up any clumps you may find.  Also, mix the ingredients together as you are breaking up the clumps.  You want to make sure the ingredients are fully mixed and clump free before moving on.

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Add the Wet Ingredients for the White Portion
Next, we will be adding the wet ingredients for the white side of the bath fizzies.  To the bowl with the dry ingredients, add 8 grams of Natures Garden’s Holly Berry Fragrance Oil.  Then, add 9 grams of safflower oil to the mixture.  Finally, once again, use your hands to mix the ingredients together.  Continue to mix until the ingredients are completely and thoroughly mixed.  Once the ingredients are mixed, set the bowl aside, we will come back to it.

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Prepare the Red Portion

Next, we will prepare the red portion of our Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe.  This portion will be the second half of the bath fizzy.  It will simply be an easy bath bomb recipe.  It is just a simple bath bomb, with added oil and red colorant.

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Total Recipe Amounts for the Red Portion
256 grams Citric Acid
560 grams Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)
9 grams Safflower Oil
8 grams Holly Berry Fragrance Oil
6 grams Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant
Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Prepare the Dry Ingredients for the Red PortionHolly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Prepare the Dry Ingredients for the Red Portion
The dry ingredients will be citric acid and baking soda.  So, in a deep mixing bowl, add 256 grams citric acid and 560 grams baking soda.  Use your hands to mix the ingredients together.  Make sure you break up any clumps you find in the mixture.
Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Prepare the Wet Ingredients for the Red PortionHolly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Prepare the Wet Ingredients for the Red Portion

Now, we will prepare the wet ingredients for the red portion of the Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe.  So, to your dry ingredients, add 9 grams of your safflower oil, 8 grams of Natures Garden’s Holly Berry Fragrance Oil, and 6 grams of Natures Garden’s Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant.  Then, use your hands to mix the ingredients together.  Make sure the red colorant is fully and evenly dispersed.  Then, set the red portion aside for the moment and we will come back to it in just a little bit.

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Putting the Bath Fizzies in the Molds

This bath fizzy recipe uses a traditional sphere bath bomb mold.  However, prior to putting the bath fizzies in the molds, we have a few more steps to complete.  You will need to get your molds out and put them in front of you.  We used a medium sized bath bomb mold and made six bath bombs using this recipe.  You can see a picture of the mold we used below.  They were simply the round plastic ornament type molds.

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Adding the Holly Berries to the MoldsHolly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Adding the Holly Berries to the Molds

Next, we will be adding the holly berries to the molds.  The holly berries were created using holly sprinkles mix from Wilton’s.  These sprinkles contain red beads and green leaves that resemble holly berries.  For our bath bombs, we used three red beads and three green leaves in one half each bath bomb mold. So, go ahead and place three red beads in the center of one half of each of your bath bomb molds.  Then, place three of the leaves around the red decorating beads.  The goal is to make them look like holly berries.

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Adding the White Bath Fizzy Mixture to the MoldsHolly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Adding the White Bath Fizzy Mixture to the Molds

Now, we will be adding the white bath fizzy mixture to one half of each mold.  The white portion of the bath fizzies will be added to the same side that you added the holly berry sprinkles.  So, with clean gloves, begin spraying the mixture lightly with witch hazel.  You want to have a crumbly dough like consistency.  Once your bath bomb mixture is at the proper consistency, add the white bath bomb mixture to holly berry half of each bath bomb mold.  Make sure you pack the fizzy mixture tightly in the mold so that they form properly.

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Adding the Red Bath Fizzy Mixture to the MoldHolly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Adding the Red Bath Fizzy Mixture to the Molds

Now we will be adding the red bath fizzy mixture to the molds. So, begin by spritzing the red bath fizzy mixture with witch hazel.  Continue to spray and mix until you are sure that all of the mixture is at a crumbly dough consistency.  Once the bath bomb mixture is at the proper consistency, add it to the second half of each mold.  Pack the molds tightly and be careful not to overfill your molds.

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Putting the Two Halves TogetherHolly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Putting the Two Halves Together

Finally, we will be attaching the two halves.  First, we need to lightly spray each half of the bath fizzy with witch hazel.  So, lightly spray one white half and one red half with witch hazel.  Then, press the two halves together.  You need to do this with the remaining molds until you have completed all six of your bath bombs.  Lastly, allow them to completely setup before you remove the handmade bath fizzies from the molds.  Your bath bombs should come right out of your molds very easily.  Simply use the hooks to pull the molds apart.  Then, place your bath fizzies in a place where they will not be disturbed or roll around.

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Happy Accidents Day One

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Happy Accidents Day OneI really have to start from day one to fully explain how this happened. I should also say, this is totally optional and dependent on the humidity as well.  When I created this recipe, I will be honest, it was raining cats and dogs, and did so all day and all night.  Obviously, this is not the best time to create a bath fizzy with all of the extra moisture in the air.  However, when I found the Wilton holly berry sprinkle, I was instantly inspired.  I HAD to make them for everyone to see.  Of course, this meant I would need to create them and immediately take pictures to share with all of you.  So, my bath bombs setup.  I removed them from the molds.  I quickly took pictures right away!  As you can see the white half is perfectly smooth.  They looked great.  I was totally happy with them.  Then, I set them aside.  I was having a bit of a problem getting the bath fizzies to stay in one place. The problem was, they kept wanting to roll off the table.  So, I set them back in half of the bath bomb mold.  The little hook on the mold prevented them from rolling away.  Now, for whatever reason, I only used half of a mold for each bath fizzy. I placed each bath bomb with the red side in the mold.  You can see how they looked when I went to bed that night in the picture to the left.

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Happy Accidents Day Two

Holly Berry Bath Bombs Recipe: Happy Accidents Day TwoHowever, the most wonderful thing happened overnight!  This left the white half exposed to the air.  After an exhausting and very long day, I accidentally forgot about them and left them sitting out on my table all night.  As we talked about at the beginning of this article, bath bombs a best prepared in non-humid climates.  Well, of course, the bath fizzies attracted some moisture from the air.  Of course, the bath bombs were slightly activated.  However, since the red portions were still in the molds, only the white halves were affected.  Guess what this created, it made the white half look like snow!!!  They looked amazing and festive and absolutely perfect!  You can see how they looked in the morning in the picture to the left.  I would never have thought to use the moisture to my advantage, but it worked out wonderfully for this time of year.  I actually recreated these for my own personal use, using this technique intentionally and for those wondering, yes, the bath bombs still fizz perfectly.

Tell Us About Your Happy Accidents

We all have those moments where we think, man I just messed that soap, candle, bath bomb, etc. up big time.  Then, there is that moment where you realize that big mistake turned into the most wonderful thing that you never planned for.  I couldn’t be happier with how these bath bombs turned out.  Personally, I am absolutely obsessed.  I make baskets each holiday for family and friends.  I fill them with bath and body products and totally intend to create these and other bath fizzies using this technique.

We would love to hear all about your happy accidents.  We would even love to hear what inspired your projects and see pictures as well!  Tell us all about them on our Facebook or Twitter pages.  You can even post pictures on our Instagram @ngscents.  If you are looking for a little inspiration, be sure to check out all of our Free Recipes and Classes available right on our website.

Today we will talk about conditioner for those with dark hair.  We have talked about a daily conditioner for blonde hair and even a hibiscus conditioner for red heads but for those with black hair or even a very dark brown hair, have you ever added black walnut hulls to your hair care recipes? Black walnut hulls are used in natural dark brown and black hair colorants. This handmade hair conditioner for dark hair is made with black walnut hulls to help enhance your natural black and dark brown hair color. In addition, we added meadowfoam seed oil. Meadowfoam seed oil will help add moisture and shine when added to your hair care recipes.  However, the best thing about making your own products is being able to customize and control the ingredients.  This will allow you to customize your conditioner to both your customer’s needs, as well as your own.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Preparations

First, prepare your area. You will want to clean your work area along. In addition, clean and sanitize the packaging supplies that you will be using. We also suggest wearing gloves, an apron, and a hair net while preparing your hair conditioner.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Achieving the Proper Emulsion

At this time, we should talk about the importance of temperature when preparing this recipe. There are a few reasons why temperature is important.  I would like to point this out to those that have never made this type of recipe. It is important to know this before you begin so that you are properly prepared.  First, your temperature is important in order to create a proper emulsion. You want to make sure the temperature of both your black walnut tea and your oil blend are around 140 degrees Fahrenheit when you blend them. If they are not at the correct temperature, your conditioner can completely separate.

In addition, your temperature is important when adding your preservative. If you add your preservative when your conditioner is too hot, your preservative will burn off.  If your emulsion is too cool the preservative will separate out of conditioner. So, you want to add your preservative at a temperature below 140 degrees Fahrenheit, but you do not want it to get below 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Black Walnut Hulls Information

In this hair conditioner recipe, we used black walnut hulls. Black walnut hulls are often used in both dark brown and black hair dyes.  In addition, they are used in a wide variety of cosmetic recipe.  Next, we will talk a little bit about black walnuts hulls. However, you can learn even more about this wonderful cosmetic powder in our free black walnut hulls class.

When used in soap making, black walnut hulls is used to achieve a dark brown color for soap.  However, it can also be used in bath bombs, lotions, and other cosmetic recipes. It is also often used in natural hair colorants as well.  In fact, with that in mind, we created this hair conditioner for dark hair.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Preparing your Black Walnut Hulls Powder

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Preparing your Black Walnut Hulls Powder

Next, prepare your teabag that you will be using in your herbal infusion.  You will create an herbal tea with the black walnut hulls powder for this recipe.  Black walnut hulls will help intensify your natural black hair or even someone with a very dark brown hair color. So, in your fillable tea bag, add your black walnut hulls powder. You will need to add 27 grams of the black walnut hulls powder.  Then, tie the tea bag closed.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Preparing Your Water

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Preparing Your Water

Now, on your stove, heat your distilled water. You want to heat the water to 180 degrees Fahrenheit.  While you will only need 425 grams of water, make sure you add plenty of water. You will need to hold the temperature at this temperature for 20 minutes.  Some of your water will evaporate during this time. However, it is important that you heat for twenty minutes to destroy any bacteria.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Adding Your Tea Bag

Add your tea bag to your water. Allow the tea bag to steep to create a very dark tea. This black walnut tea will be used in your conditioner.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Preparing Your Oils

Now, we will also be preparing the oils portion of this recipe. The Natures Garden staff used meadowfoam seed oil for our conditioner.  We customized our conditioner specifically for the hair needs of employees here at Natures Garden. Meadowfoam seed oil is wonderful for dry hair.  It also is great for a little extra shine.  While we used meadowfoam seed oil, you can customize this conditioner for your hair needs. Just use a total of 20 grams of oil in any combination you choose. It will require testing of course to perfect the conditioner to your needs. You can read about the oils for various hair types here.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Preparing Your Oils

Now, you will need to prepare the oil portion of this recipe. This portion will be melted on your stove using a double boiler. So, first get your large pot and add a few inches of water. Heat the water over medium heat.  You can allow it to heat while you are preparing your oils.

Next, you will need a small pot. In this pot, weigh out and add 25 grams Vegetable Glycerin, 25 grams BTMS 25, and 20 grams Meadowfoam Seed Oil. Then, place the small pot inside the larger pot of water on your stove.  Allow your oils to melt, stirring occasionally.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Mixing Your Oils and Herbal Tea Together

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Mixing Your Oils and Herbal Tea Together

You want to move quickly through the next couple of steps as this is where the temperatures are very important in order to achieve a proper emulsion. So, get a deep mixing bowl.  Then, weigh out 425 grams of the herbal tea you created.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Mixing Your Oils and Herbal Tea Together

In addition, remove your melted oils from the heat.  Then, allow the temperature of both the oils and herbal tea to drop to about 140 degrees Fahrenheit.  At this time go ahead and slowly add your oils to your herbal tea. Finally, use your stick blender to emulsify your ingredients.  You will notice the color of your mixture will begin to change.  Continue to mix, ensuring that your conditioner is fully blended. However, be careful not to allow the temperature to drop below 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Adding the Final Conditioner Ingredients

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Adding the Final Conditioner Ingredients

Finally, we will be adding just a few more ingredients.  As we talked about earlier, all three of these ingredients need to be added at a temperature no cooler than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.  So, add 26 grams of your Black Cherry Fragrance Oil, 5 grams Optiphen Preservative, and 5 grams Vitamin E Oil. Then, once again use your stick blender to incorporate all of the ingredients. Continue to stick blend the ingredients until you are sure everything is mixed.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Cooling the Conditioner

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Cooling the Conditioner

Once you have stick blended your conditioner fully and completely, the only thing left to do is wait.  You want your conditioner’s temperature to drop to room temperature.  You will notice that your conditioner is still very thin.  As the conditioner cools, it becomes thicker.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Packaging Your Conditioner

Now, once your conditioner has reached room temperature, you are ready to package your conditioner.  We chose to package our conditioner in the 8 ounce Boston Round Bottles.  If you choose these same bottles, you will need two of them.  However, we have a variety of bottles and lids available to package your conditioner. Get your bottles out at this time and set them in front of you.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Packaging Your Conditioner

First, you will need your gallon sized Ziploc bag.  Next, place your conditioner in the bag.  You will notice that I placed my bag inside a small bowl.  This made it easier to put my conditioner into the bag.  I place the opening of the bag around the bowl.  This kept the bag open as I filled it. Once you have filled your bag, remove as much air as possible and close the bag.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Packaging Your Conditioner

Next, we will cut the corner of the bag.  You just need to cut the corner a bit to create a hole.  All we are doing is basically creating a decorating bag.  We will line the hole in the bag up with the opening of our bottle to fill it.  Go ahead and fill your bottle with the conditioner.

Hair Conditioner for Dark Hair: Packaging Your Conditioner

Once your bottle is full, place a lid on top.  We used the white pump tops. Once you have placed a lid on top you are finished. Your conditioner for dark hair is now ready to use!  Simply wash your hair then use the conditioner as you would your normal hair conditioner.  We have found that the longer you leave it on before rinsing, the better results you will see.

We hope that you have enjoyed creating this hair conditioner for dark hair. Did you know that we have a wide variety of candle making, soap making, and cosmetics making recipes found in our free classes and recipes box? We would love to see all of the wonderful creation you have been working on.  Tag us on Instagram or Twitter @ngscents.  You can also post pictures of your finished handcrafted candles, soaps and cosmetics on our Facebook page.  Be sure to follow us as well.

Third, we have our vanilla cinnamon sugar scrub that uses avocado oil.  What else is unique about this sugar scrub?  To be honest there are a few things.  One, since this scrub is emulsified, we could layer it.  What is an emulsified scrub some may ask.  To put it simply, do you ever notice how some scrubs will have the oil separated from the sugar or salt?  Those scrub were not emulsified. This doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with them, we have made plenty like this as well.  However, one great thing with an emulsified scrub is that you can layer it.  The second unique thing about this scrub, in addition to vanilla powder and apple pie spice powder, it contains two different types of sugar.  The brown layer contains brown sugar and the white contains white sugar.  Lastly, this sugar scrub recipe uses two different fragrance oils.  We scented it with Cinnabun Type Fragrance Oil and Vanilla Bean Fragrance Oil.

Hair Conditioner for BrunettesHair Conditioner for Brunettes

Today we will talk about a hair conditioner for brunettes.  We have talked about a daily conditioner for blonde hair and even a hibiscus conditioner for red heads but for those with brown hair, have you ever added tried a coffee rinse? Well at Natures Garden, we thought, why not add it right to a conditioner so it can be used as needed. This handmade conditioner is made with actual to help enhance your natural brown hair color. In addition, we added some wonderful oils. We used both apricot oil and sesame oil.  However, the best thing about making your own products is being able to customize and control the ingredients.  This will allow you to customize your conditioner to both your customer’s needs, as well as your own.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Jamaican Vanilla Cafe Fragrance Oil

For this conditioner recipe we used Jamaican Vanilla Cafe Fragrance Oil.  How does Jamaican Vanilla Cafe Fragrance Oil smell?  It smells AMAZING! This fragrance oil by Natures Garden is a harmony of rich roasted Jamaican coffee and sweet vanilla beans making this scent a delightful temptation.  An NG Original Fragrance!

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Preparations

First, prepare the area where you will be working. You will want to clean your work area. In addition, you want to both clean and sanitize your packaging supplies that you will be using. We also suggest wearing protective clothing such as gloves, an apron, and a hair net while preparing your hair conditioner.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Achieving the Proper Emulsion

At this time, we should talk about the importance of temperature when preparing this recipe. There are a few reasons why temperature is important.  I would like to point this out for those that have never made this type of recipe. It is important to know this before you begin so that you are properly prepared.  First, your temperature is important in order to create a proper emulsion. You want to make sure the temperature of both your coffee and your oils are around 140 degrees Fahrenheit when you blend them. If they are not at the correct temperature, your conditioner can completely separate.

In addition, it is important when adding your preservative. If you add your preservative when your conditioner is too hot, your preservative will burn off.  If your emulsion is too cool the preservative will separate out of conditioner. You want to add your preservative at a temperature below 140 degrees Fahrenheit, but you do not want it to get below 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Coffee for Your Hair

In this hair conditioner recipe we used freshly brewed coffee. Coffee is often used in natural hair dyes.  It helps cover grays and add dimension to brown hair. In addition, you don’t have to use harsh chemicals to color your hair. We all know that hair dye, whether it be from the store, or the salon, isn’t really that great for our hair.  I mean sure we look and feel amazing, but think about the damage that it can do to our hair.  Is it really worth it?

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Preparing your CoffeeHair Conditioner for Brunettes: Preparing your Coffee

Next, we will prepare our coffee.  There really are two different ways you can do this. First, simply make a pot of coffee.  However, it is still important that the bacteria is destroyed.  So, make sure your coffee stays around 180 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.

Another option is to basically create a tea using coffee grounds.  This can be done by adding coffee grounds to a tea bag or two and adding it to your water. So, first, fill your tea bag.  Then, on your stove, heat your distilled water. Add you tea bag to your water. Allow the teabag to steep to create a very dark coffee water. This will create the coffee that will be used in your conditioner.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Choosing Your OilsHair Conditioner for Brunettes: Choosing Your Oils

Now, we will also be preparing the oils portion of this recipe. We here at Natures Garden used avocado oil for our conditioner.  As I said earlier, we created these conditioners for each hair color, customizing them to the hair care needs of one of the members of Natures Garden’s Creative Team.  In this case, Deborah chose apricot kernel oil and sesame seed oil.  While these are the oils that she chose, and by the way loved, you can customize your conditioner for your hair needs. You can use a total of 20 grams of oil in any combination that you feel will suit you. It will require testing of course to perfect the conditioner to your needs. You can read about the oils for various hair types here. Whether your hair is thick or fine, oily or dry, you will find the perfect oil for you!

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Choosing Your OilsHair Conditioner for Brunettes: Preparing Your Oils

Next, you will need to prepare the oils that you will be using in this recipe. We will us a double boiler to melt your oils on the stove top. So, you will need to get your large pot and add a few inches of water. Then, heat the water over medium heat.  You can allow the water to heat as you are preparing your oils.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Choosing Your Oils

Now, you will need your small pot. In this pot, weigh out and add 25 grams Vegetable Glycerin, 25 grams BTMS 25, 10 grams Sesame Seed Oil and 10 grams Apricot Kernel Oil. Then, place your small pot inside the larger pot of water on your stove.  Allow your oils to melt, make sure you are stirring occasionally as they are melting.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Mixing Your Oils and Herbal Tea Together

You want to move quickly through the next couple of steps as this is where the temperatures are very important in order to achieve a proper emulsion. So, get a deep mixing bowl.  Then, weigh out 425 grams of the coffee.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Mixing Your Oils and Herbal Tea Together

In addition, remove your melted oils from the heat.  Then, allow the temperature of both the oils and your coffee to drop to about 140 degrees Fahrenheit before moving on.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Mixing Your Oils and Herbal Tea Together

Next, at this time, go ahead and add your oils to your coffee. Finally, use your stick blender to emulsify your ingredients.  You should notice the color of your mixture will start to change.  You want to continue to mix, ensuring that your conditioner is completely blended. However, be careful not to allow the temperature of the mixture to drop below 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Adding the Final Conditioner Ingredients

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Adding the Final Conditioner Ingredients

Finally, we will be adding just a few more ingredients to our mixture.  We need to add scent, a preservative, and vitamin E oil.  As we talked about earlier, all three of these ingredients need to be added at a temperature no cooler than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.  So, add 26 grams of your Jamaican Vanilla Cafe Fragrance Oil, 5 grams Optiphen Preservative, and 5 grams Vitamin E Oil. Then, once again, use your stick blender to incorporate all of the ingredients fully. Continue to stick blend the mixture until your are sure everything is completely blended.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Cooling the Conditioner

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Cooling the Conditioner

Once you have stick blended your conditioner fully and completely, the only thing left to do is wait.  You want you conditioner’s temperature to drop to room temperature.  You will notice that your conditioner is still very thin.  As the conditioner for brunettes cools, it will begin to get thicker.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Packaging Your Conditioner

Now, once your handmade conditioner has reached room temperature, you are ready to package your conditioner.  We chose the 8 ounce Boston round bottles to package our conditioner.  However, you can use whichever bottle you choose.  If you choose these same bottles, you will need two of them.  We do offer a variety of bottles and lids available to package your brunette conditioner. Next, get your bottles out at this time. Set them in front of you so that you are prepared to place your conditioner into the bottles.

First though you will need your gallon sized Ziploc bag.  Next, place your conditioner in the bag.  If you would like, you can place the gallon bag inside a small bowl.  Then, wrap the opening of the bag around the bowl.  This will keep the bag open while you add the conditioner to the bowl. This makes it a lot easier when putting my conditioner into the bag.  Once you have filled your bag, remove as much air as possible. Then, go ahead and close the bag.

Next, we will cut the corner of the bag.  You just need to cut the corner a bit to create a hole.  All we are doing is basically creating a decorating bag.  We will line the hole in the bag up with the opening of our bottle to fill it.  Go ahead and fill your bottle with the conditioner.

Hair Conditioner for Brunettes: Packaging Your ConditionerOnce your bottle is full, place a lid on top.  We used the white pump tops. Once you have placed a lid on top you are finished. Your conditioner for brunettes is now ready to use!  Simply wash your hair then use the conditioner as you would your normal hair conditioner.  We have found that the longer you leave it on before rinsing, the better results you will see. While the results aren’t permanent, they will stay for a bit and with regular your hair should stay a lovely brown color.

We hope that you have enjoyed creating this hair conditioner for brunettes. A tiny amount of the Diamond Mica Pigment

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Clean and Sanitize Before Working

Before you begin creating your recipe, make sure that the area you will be working in is clean. This will help protect your product from contamination, which could ruin your recipe. Plus, this preparation strategy will prevent you from running into space issues as you are working. First, remove anything in your work area that isn’t necessary for your project. This will give you the space you need to finish this craft. Second, make sure everything is sanitized. Otherwise, you could end up with dirt or debris in your completed pink salt scrubs. So, the safest way to create this recipe is to be prepared first.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Setting out the Clamshell Containers

Another way to be prepared is to set out the packaging. Before you begin, retrieve the five clamshell containers you will use when creating this recipe. You will need these clamshells quickly after you whip up the entire mixture. So, it will be very helpful to have the packaging immediately available. Otherwise, your soap scrub may set up before you add it to the clamshell containers. While the recipe would still be okay to use after this point, it will be near impossible to get the mixture into the clamshell containers. Not getting the mix into the clamshell containers will hinder the appearance of your product, as you will not be able to add the pretty topping to the scrubs.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Preparing the SaltsPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Preparing the Sea Salts

Also, you want to get the salt ready before you melt the soap. Melt and pour soap will set up quickly, so it is best that you have everything ready. So, weighing the salts before will provide you with more time to work. Now, weigh out 40 grams of the Himalayan Pink Sea Salt Coarse Ground in one of your bowls and weigh out 315 grams of the Himalayan Pink Salt Fine Ground in another of your bowls. These will be set aside for later use. The finely ground pink salt will be used as the main exfoliant within this salt scrub mixture. This will help remove any dead skin. Also, the coarsely ground pink salt will be added to the top to provide both the lovely appearance and some extra exfoliation.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Preparing The Melt and Pour SoapPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Preparing The Melt and Pour Soap

Next, you will be melting the soap for this pink scrub recipe. So, cut up and weigh out 170 grams of Nature’s Garden’s Soya Milk Melt and Pour Soap. Add this soap to a microwave safe bowl. You will want to melt the soap in 30-second increments, stirring in between as it is melting. Stirring as you go will disperse the heat more evenly so the soap will not overheat as you are melting your soya milk soap. Once all the soap is in liquid form, then you can stop heating the soap. After it is melted, it is time to move on to the next step.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding All of the OilsPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding All of the Oils

Now, we are going to add the oils to your recipe. These are the oils that are either beneficial for your skin or scenting the scrub. So, take your melted soap and quickly add your oil ingredients. First, weigh out and add 20 grams of the NG Sun and Sand Type Fragrance Oil to the soap. Mix this into the soap well. Now, add 15 grams of the Coconut Oil 76, 57 grams of the Sunflower Oil, and 40 grams of the Sweet Almond Oil. Again, stir well to mix these ingredients into the melt and pour soap.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding the Himalayan Pink Sea SaltPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding the Himalayan Pink Sea Salt

Next, you are going to be adding the salts you have already weighed. Be sure to move quickly as you move to this step because your soap will begin setting up pretty fast. Now, pour in the Fine Ground Himalayan Pink Salt that you have already weighed into the soap and oil mixture. You will want to fold the salt into the mixture quickly. However, you want to make sure that the pink salt has been incorporated well enough so that everything seems evenly mixed together. You don’t want the melt and pour soap to set up, but you don’t want the mixture to be uneven in areas.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Packaging the Mixture and Adding the ToppingPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Packaging the Mixture and Adding the Topping

Now, you are ready to package up your mixture by filling your clamshell containers. Begin by spooning the mixture into the clamshell containers. Then, you will use your fingers to work the pink salt scrub into each of the six cavities. You will want to pack everything fairly tight. Also, make sure to leave a little bit of room on top so that you are able to close the clamshells after adding the coarse pink salt on top. You don’t need much room, but you shouldn’t overfill the clamshell containers. After each of your clamshells fully packed, you will be adding the coarse ground Himalayan pink salt to the tops. So, place about 9 grams of the coarse ground Himalayan pink salt onto the top of each clamshell. Make sure to spread this out evenly over the entire top of the filled clamshell containers.  Finally, press gently so that the coarse pink salt sinks in slightly and stays in place.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding the GlitterPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Adding the Glitter

Now, you will add the shimmer to the tops of your nearly finished bath scrubs. You will less than a gram of both the Diamond Mica Pigment and the 24K Gold Mica Pigment. You will only be giving the tops of your pink salt scrub a light dusting with a tiny amount of the shiny mica dust. While you can dust separately with each of your two mica pigments, we recommend mixing the mica dusts before dusting.  We have found that this provides a more even dusting that prevents the colors from looking separate on your finished products. So, you would mix together about a tiny bit of the diamond dust mica and a tiny bit of the 24K gold mica together for a pretty mica blend that is lovely and shimmery.

Next, you will be adding a light dusting to your recipe. You can either do this with your spoon or a shaker. If you do not have a shaker or have another way to dust your solid salt scrub, then you will be fine using a spoon when applying the mica. We chose to use a shaker to evenly coat the tops of the salt scrub with the mica mixture. Also, you can lightly shake a spoon of the mica powder over the scrubs to provide a dusting, as well. Any way that you choose to add the shimmery shine, just make sure the sparkles are as evenly applied as you can possibly get.

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Finished CreationPink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe Finished Creation

Finally, your solid scrub recipe is complete!  After you have finished, these bath scrubs will be immediately ready to use! You can use these to wash and exfoliate your hands or you can use these in the bath for a whole body experience. Either way, this is a wonderful recipe that combines the clean fun of melt and pour soap with the care caring properties of a typical salt scrub. So, you are truly set with this bath and body recipe!

Pink Salt Solid Scrub Recipe The Mineral Benefits of Using Pink Himalayan Sea Salt in the Bath

First of all, Pink Himalayan Sea Salt is enriched with many minerals that a healthy human body should have. This includes minerals such as calcium, zinc, iron, and so many others. Including this in a bath product can provide all the benefits, since your skin can absorb some of these essential minerals through your skin. So, using this solid salt scrub in the bath could provide you with a mineral soak, which would be beneficial for your health and your skin.
