Wine Lotion RecipeWine Lotion Recipe

Our next recipe is a wine lotion recipe.  Like many of our customers, I too, love the wonderful aroma of red wine.  This homemade lotion recipe is scented with my favorite of Natures Garden’s wine scents, Shiraz Fragrance Oil.  This lotion contains many skin loving oils and butters like grape seed and jojoba.  So grab a glass of wine and get ready to prepare a couple bottles of wine scented lotion.

Wine Lotion Recipe Ingredients Found at Natures Garden

Cocoa Butter Golden Natural
Grape Seed Oil
Jojoba Oil
Sodium Lactate
Silky Emulsifying Wax
Shiraz Fragrance Oil
Da Bomb Soap Dye Red
Da Bomb Soap Dye Blue
Vitamin E Oil
Vegetable Glycerin
8 ounce Clear Boston Round Bottles
White Lotion Pumps 24/410
Thermometer
Resveratrol Extract Powder

Wine Lotion Recipe Other Equipment and Ingredients You Will Need

Mixing Bowls (2)
Scale
Spatula
Distilled Water
Pots (For Double Boiler)
Stove
Ziplock Bag
Scissors

Wine Lotion Recipe Prepare Your Work Area

Before we begin, clean and sanitize your work area and utensils.  You will also need to do the same with the packaging supplies.  We will be using two clear 8 ounce Boston round bottle and two 24/410 white lotion pumps when we create this lotion recipe.

Wine Lotion Recipe Weigh Out Your Ingredients

Wine Lotion Recipe Weigh Out Your IngredientsFirst, in a pot, weigh out 425 grams of water.  You will need to heat the water to 180 degrees.  Hold it at this temperature for 20 minutes.  This will destroy any bacteria.

In a second pot, weigh out 48 grams grape seed oil, 24 grams silky emulsifying wax, 10 grams cocoa butter, 10 grams jojoba oil, and 6 grams vitamin e oil.  Then, melt these ingredients using a double boiler.  Make sure you stir the oil occasionally as they are melting.  While you are waiting, move to the next step.  We will come back to both of these pots when they are ready.

Wine Lotion Recipe Preparing the Other Ingredients

Wine Lotion Recipe Preparing the Other IngredientsIt is best to weigh the other ingredients out ahead of time.  This way you are prepared ahead of time.  This will allow you to move quickly as you are making the lotion.  Temperatures are extremely important to achieve a proper emulsion when creating lotion.  So, using a scale, weigh out the remaining ingredients.  You will need four small bowls as each of the following will go in a separate bowl.  First, weigh 8 grams of sodium lactate.  Then, in the second bowl, add 3 grams of resveratrol along with 12 vegetable glycerin.  Mix these two together well.  In the third bowl, prepare your fragrance oil.  Weigh out 12 grams of Shiraz Fragrance Oil.  In the last bowl, weigh out 10 grams of your optiphen preservative.  Set these aside, we will come back to them.

Wine Lotion Recipe Putting it all Together

Next, we will be combining our water with our oils.  Before we begin we want to be sure to point out a couple of things in regards to your temperatures.  At this point, your temperatures are very important.  You want both the oils and water to be around 140 degrees Fahrenheit.  If your ingredients are not at the proper temperature you may experience separation.  In addition, the temperature is important when adding your preservative.  You want to add your preservative around 120 degrees if you add your preservative at too cool of a temperature your mixture will separate from the finished lotion.  If your temperature is too hot it will burn the preservative off.
Wine Lotion Recipe Putting it all TogetherNow, we will begin combining our oils and water.  Once both the oils and water have come to the proper temperature, we will need to move quickly.  So, once your water has been heated, remove it from the heat.  You want to let both your oils and water temperatures to drop to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.  Then, add 8 grams of sodium lactate to your water.  Make sure you stir in the sodium lactate completely.  Now, add your oils to your water.  Then, use your stick blender to mix them.  Mix until you notice the mixture turn white in color as it emulsifies.  Again, remember to pay close attention to your temperatures.  You do not want the temperature to drop below 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Wine Lotion Recipe Adding the Other Ingredients

Wine Lotion Recipe Adding the Other IngredientsNext, let’s add our preservative.  Remember, this needs to be added below 140 degrees Fahrenheit, but at a temperature no cooler than 120 degrees.  When the mixture drops to around 120 degrees add the 10 grams of optiphen preservative.  Additionally, this is when the colorant should be added.  So, at this time add 7 drops of red soap colorant and 3 drops blue fd&c dye.  You will also add the 12 grams Shiraz Fragrance Oil you weighed out earlier.  Mix your ingredients together using your stick blender.  Now you will need the resveratrol extract powder mixture you prepared.  Earlier, we dispersed the resveratrol powder extract in vegetable glycerin so that it can be added to your lotion without clumping.  Finally, at this time, add the resveratrol mixture you prepared earlier.  Once again use your stick blender to evenly and fully mix all of the potion’s ingredients.  Once everything is mixed, allow the lotion to set up.  You will notice the lotion thicken more as it cools.  Once it has set up, you are ready to package it.

Wine Lotion Recipe Packaging the Lotion

Wine Lotion Recipe Packaging the LotionLastly, we will be placing our lotion into the 8 ounce lotion bottles.  I have found it easiest to do this using a zip lock bag.  So, place the lotion in a ziplock bag.  Then, cut the corner.  We will be using the bag sort of like you would a decorating bag.  Once you have cut the corner, you can place the opening over the opening of the bottle.  Squeeze the bag gently to add the lotion to the first bottle.  Then, fill the second bottle.  Finally, place a white lotion pump on each bottle.  Your wine scented lotion is now complete!

Valentines Day Kisses Melt And Pour Recipe Sanitation and Preparation

Before beginning this recipe you should be sure that all of your equipment and your work space has been cleaned and is ready to work. If you need to you can use two or three bowls and the same number of molds, but you will have to continuously wash as the recipe proceeds.

Valentines Day Kisses Melt And Pour Recipe Final Product

Three kissing lips soaps will be produced for each color that is created. These steps will walk you through the hues that we chose to create. If you wish to get creative, then feel free to mix and match your lip colors to customize your own set of kisses!

Valentines Day Kisses Melt And Pour Recipe Creating Mica Pigments

Initially, we are going to prepare the soap pigments that we will need later on. Rather than using any of our soap dyes, we are going to use mica to color our melt and pour soap. Not only will this allow us to achieve gold and silver pigments, but the soap will sparkle as well! So, let’s prepare our diamond dust and 24K gold mica pigments and then get to soaping.

Next, we are going to use the 24K gold mica to create a color for our melt and pour soap. So, weigh out approximately 4 grams of vegetable glycerin and 2 grams of 24K gold mica into one of the smaller bowls. Now, mix these ingredients thoroughly to integrate all of the mica powder and spread out any clumped mica. Once you have a nice liquid gold paste prepared, set the bowl aside.

Now, we are going to use the diamond dust mica to create a different pigment for our melt and pour soap. First, weigh 5 grams of vegetable glycerin into another small bowl. Also, include 2 grams of the diamond dust mica. Integrate all of the mica powder and break up any clumps. Once you have a liquid paste you can set aside the bowl.

Valentines Day Kisses Melt And Pour Recipe Silver Colored Kisses

Valentines Day Kisses Melt And Pour Recipe Silver KissesFirst, we are going to create our silver pigmented melt and pour kissing lips. Now, take one of your three larger bowls and weigh 300 grams of the diamond clear melt and pour soap. After, melt the soap in a microwave for a couple minutes. Make sure that you take the soap out periodically to mix and avoid boiling your soap. Allow the soap to cool slightly, but not too much. You want the temperature to be warm enough to not set up before we add color and fragrance, but not too hot that the fragrance will burn off.

Valentines Day Kisses Melt And Pour Recipe Silver Colored Kisses Now, we are going to add colorant and scent to the melted soap. First, you can add 15 grams of the You Sexy Thing You Fragrance Oil to your melted soap. Now, take the diamond dust mica pigment we created and add two grams to your soap. Also, dip a tooth pick into your Black Oxide Fun Soap Colorant and swirl this into the melted soap as well. Mix your soap thoroughly to incorporate the color and fragrance.

Finally, we are ready to pour. Take your lips mold and pour your melted soap. Spray the tops of your soap with alcohol to release bubbles that may be on the back of your soap. Now, let the poured soap set up of a few minutes. Later, remove the soap from the mold.

A Spatula

A Medium Pot

A Large Pot

A Stove Top

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Total Weights Needed

224 grams of Mango Butter

15 grams of Apricot Kernel Oil

13 grams of  Beeswax White Pastilles

4 grams of White Chocolate Fragrance Oil

5 of the White Chocolate Wafers – 12 oz

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Preparing Your Working Area

Before you begin creating your bath melts you should make sure that the area you will be working in is clean. Also, make sure you have an available stove within your working area that is clean. Additionally, make sure that your equipment, such as pots, a bowl, and a brownie bites mold, have been sanitized well. If you don’t clean your mold before you being the recipe, your mixture may cool before you can get a chance to pour. Further, you may want to start thinking about how you are going to package your finished bath melts. The recipe will create a total of twelve brownie bite sized bath melts, so be prepared with enough packaging.

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Weighing Your Ingredients

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe WeighInitially, you are going to want to weigh your mango butter, apricot kernel oil, beeswax, and white chocolate wafers into a medium sized bowl. Set the units of your scale to grams, set your bowl on the scale, and tare the weight of your bowl. Now, you can measure the 224 grams of mango butter. You will want to tare after adding this butter and continue to tare between your future additions. Weigh out 15 grams of Apricot Kernel Oil, 13 grams Beeswax White Pastilles, and five of your white chocolate wafers. We be melting all of the ingredients on the stove top.

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Melting Your Ingredients

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe MeltNext, we are going to use your two differently sized pots to create a double boiler. The double boiling method of melting is useful for preventing your ingredients in the mixture from scorching, which could ruin the recipe. So, lets begin!

Initially, we will go over how to create and correctly use a double boiler to melt the ingredients. First, fill your larger pot with some water. I’d suggest filling the pot with about a fourth of the way up with water.  This amount can be adjusted after you can see how the water level rises with the addition of the smaller pot. Now, you can take the medium sized pot and place that into the water of the larger pot. If your water level looks like it is high enough that the water could boil over into the smaller pot, then pour out some water. On the other hand, if your smaller pot White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Liquidbarely touches the water level, then you may want to increase your water level. Further, if you notice later on that the water is getting too close to the rim of the medium sized pot, you can remove the pot and readjust the water levels.

After you have adjusted the water, you can now take your previously measured ingredients and add them to the medium pot. Finally, you will boil the water until your mixture is liquid. You must watch carefully to make sure the water in the larger pot doesn’t boil over into your oils in the smaller pot as it could ruin your bath melt recipe.

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Scenting Your Bath Melts

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe BowlFirst, I would recommend transferring the mixture out of the pot. The pot is likely too hot to place on your scale and may keep your mixture too hot for you to add fragrance oil as well. Therefore, I would recommend that you take your newly melted ingredients and return the mixture to the bowl that you weighed these ingredients prior to melting. Afterward, we can add the fragrance oil to the mixture.

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe FragranceNext, we are going to add 4 grams of our White Chocolate Fragrance Oil to the mix of ingredients . However, the oils may be too hot and could burn off the scent. So, use your own discretion to determine the right time to add the fragrance oil. Once the fragrance oil is included, we’ll mix thoroughly yet quickly. Now, get ready to pour the mixture into our brownie bites mold.

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Pouring Into Your Mold

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Pour

Finally, we are going to pour the mixture into the 24 – brownie bites mold. You should be able to create twelve full bath melt squares with this recipes. Once all of the batter has been poured give the melts some time to set up undisturbed. Later, you can move the mold into the freezer. However, you need to make sure the bath melts are set up enough to move. If you are deciding whether to move the mold and aren’t sure if it is time, I’d recommend waiting a bit longer to prevent a potential disaster. Waiting longer before you move the bath melts to the freezer can’t hurt the recipe, but not waiting long enough could make a mess of your bath and body creation. Once you remove the brownie bites mold from your freezer you can remove your bath melts from the mold. Finally, enjoy your scrumptious white chocolate bath melts!

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Packaging Your Finished Bath Melts

Before packaging you should be aware that the bath melts can begin to melt in your hand. Be sure not to handle the melts too much. Additionally, the place you intend to store your bath melts shouldn’t exceed room temperature as the bath melts will likely melt this way as well. While melting doesn’t necessarily ruin the product, it will make transferring the bath melt to the bath tub more difficult.

While there is no one specific way to package your bath melts, I would recommend that you use  something that would require a minimal amount of touching and/or holding your finished bath melts. However, as long as your bath melts are packaged well enough to avoid getting dirty and haven’t melted entirely in your hand, then your product should be fine. The white chocolate bath melts that I had created were saved in a zip lock bag and stored at room temperature  for the time being, but feel free to use any method of storage that you have available.

White Chocolate Bath Melts Recipe Using Your Finished Bath Melts

Once you have a nice, warm bath running, place just one of your bath melts under the running water of your tub. Including the bath melt while your bath is filling up will allow the oils to disperse more evenly throughout the bath water. The bath melts may make your tub slippery, you should be safe and use caution while getting in and out of the tub.

Adding more than a single bath melt to your tub could create a very slippery situation. While it may feel like it couldn’t hurt to use a few more of these little bath melts, remember it is always possible to have too much of a good thing. In this instance, adding multiple bath melts will cause there to be an excess of oils in your bath tub. All of this excess oil from these extra bath melts can sink to the bottom of your tub and have the potential to make your tub very slippery. While you still need to be cautious stepping in and out of the tub with a single bath melt, it is far less slippery than if you were to use more than a single bath melt. You’ll only need a single melt to notice the delicious white chocolate scent and feel a difference in your skin. So, it would be wasteful to use more bath melts than you need at one time. Plus, since you are saving all those extra bath melts, you can take even more baths with these delightful white chocolate bath melts!

Vanilla Cinnamon Scrub Recipe: Melting Your Oils, Butters, and WaxesFirst, you will need a scale.  Set your scale to weigh in grams.  Weight out 113 grams avocado oil, 136 grams of coconut oil 76, 74 grams of our cocoa butter deodorized, 20 grams of our jojoba oil, 62 grams of Natures Garden’s mango butter, 50 grams of silky emulsifying wax, and 12 grams of white beeswax pastilles.   Once you have weighed them out, melt them in a double boiler over low heat.  As they are melting, stir occasionally.  However, you can move on to weighing out your other ingredients while you are waiting.

Vanilla Cinnamon Scrub Recipe: Preparing the Other Ingredients

Vanilla Cinnamon Scrub Recipe: Preparing the Other IngredientsFirst, we will weigh out the sugars for this scrub recipe.  This layered sugar scrub uses two types of sugar.  The brown layer uses brown sugar.  The white layer uses white sugar.  So, you will need two medium size mixing bowls.  To the first bowl add 340 grams of white sugar.  In addition, to this bowl, add 10 grams of vanilla powder.  Mix well so the vanilla powder disperses evenly throughout the white sugar.  In the second bowl you will only need to add the brown sugar.  However, you should use your hands to break up any clumps you notice in the brown sugar.

Vanilla Cinnamon Scrub Recipe: Preparing the Other IngredientsAlso, will prepare the apple pie spice blend.  We chose to use the apple pie spice because it contains cinnamon in the mix.  We thought this would go along nicely with the cinnabun type scent.  Prior to adding it to our scrub, we will mix it with a bit of vegetable glycerin.  So, in a small bowl, weigh out 10 grams of Apple Pie Spice Blend Powder.  Then, to the same bowl, add 26 grams of vegetable glycerin.  Use a spoon to mix the ingredients together.  You will end up with a paste consistency.  Set this aside, we will come back to it later.

Vanilla Cinnamon Scrub Recipe: Preparing the Other IngredientsFinally, we will prepare the remaining ingredients. I prepared these each in separate bowls so that I had them weighed out in advance.  This made it easier to just add quickly when my oils were ready.  Weigh out 11 grams of Optiphen, 4 grams  of titanium dioxide, and 7 grams of vitamin e oil in three separate bowls.  In another bowl, I mixed the fragrance along with the vanilla white.  For this recipe we used two different fragrances.  We added 14 grams of Vanilla Silk Fragrance Oil and 9 grams of Cinnabun Type Fragrance Oil.  In addition, I added 23 grams of Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  We will come back to these once the oils are finished melting.

Vanilla Cinnamon Sugar Scrub Recipe: Combining the Body Scrub Ingredients

Now that the oils have finished melt, remove them from the heat.  Let the temperature of the oil drop to around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.  At this time add the Optiphen preservative, pure vitamin e oil, and the fragrance oil mixture.

Vanilla Cinnamon Scrub Recipe: Combining the Body Scrub IngredientsNext, separate the oils into two separate bowls.  One bowl will be used for the white portion, the other for the brown layer.  You will need about 250 grams of oil in each medium size bowl.  In the first bowl, add 4 grams of the titanium dioxide.  Mix well to incorporate.  In the second, add the apple pie spice blend mixture.

Vanilla Cinnamon Sugar Scrub Recipe: Adding the Sugars

Vanilla Cinnamon Scrub Recipe: Adding the SugarsNow, to the bowl containing the brown colored oils, add the brown sugar.  Use a spatula to mix the sugar into the oils.  To the bowl containing the titanium dioxide, add the white sugar mixture.  Again, stir with a spatula to mix in the sugar.  Allow both  of the mixtures to set up at room temperature.  Then, you can move to the next step.

Vanilla Cinnamon Sugar Scrub Recipe: Layering the Body Scrub in the Jars

IMAG2466_1For this portion I found it easiest to use a mixing spoon.  Lastly, begin by adding a layer of the brown portion to your jars.  This recipe will fill eight jars of the four ounce clear jars.  Then, add a white layer with the portion of the scrub containing the white sugar.  Repeat this process until each jar is filled.  Finally, place a lid on each jar.  We chose to use the white dome lids for this recipe.

We hope that you have enjoyed creating this recipe.  Everyone here at Natures Garden would love to see how your scrubs turn out!  Post pictures on our Facebook page, or tag us on Instagram @ngscents.  Or maybe you have created another product you would like to share!  We would love to see those too! Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe

It is that time of year.  With winter comes both dry skin and chapped lips.  All of us need a little exfoliation from time to time.  However, all too often we treat our body to a luxurious scrub.  How often do we give the same attention to our lips?  If you are like me, you may give them a little gloss, or maybe some lip balm, but ladies and gents, I think it is time we pay them a bit more attention.  Don’t neglect those lovely lips.  After all, a beautiful smile can easily brighten someone’s day.  So don’t hide those lips, exfoliate them.  Our brown sugar lip scrub recipe will gently do just that.

Scale
Mixing Spoon
Microwave Safe Bowl
Brown Sugar

Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Total Recipe Weights

1.25 ounces Brown Sugar
1 ounce Natures Garden Lip Balm Base
1 ounce Sweet Almond Oil
10 drops Chocolate Bon Bons Flavor Oil
Begin by preparing your equipment, utensils, and packaging materials.  This recipe will make seven lip scrubs.  You will need seven of the 10 milliliter lip balm pots with natural lids.  You will want to begin with a clean work area.  Also, sanitize any equipment and packaging materials you will be using.

Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe

First, we will weigh out the three main ingredients.  Prepare your scale, make sure it is set to weigh in ounces.  You will want to use three small bowls.  Add one ounce of sweet almond oil to the first bowl.  Add 1.25 ounces of light brown sugar to the second bowl.  You will also need to use your scale to weigh out one ounce of the natural lip balm base.  Make sure you are placing the base in a microwave safe bowl.

Next, we will begin melting the lip balm base.  Melt it in the microwave in thirty second bursts.  Be careful when melting.  You only want to melt the base, you do not want to over-heat it.

Next, add one ounce of Natures Garden’s sweet almond oil.  Mix well to blend the oil into the base.  Then, add 10 drops of Natures Garden’s Chocolate Bon Bons Flavoring.  This will give the scrub a wonderful chocolatey flavor. However, it is optional.  You can also adjust the amount of flavoring you add to your liking.

Finally, add the 1.25 ounces of brown sugar to the melted base.  Mix well to blend the sugar thoroughly.  Now, add the scrub to the 10 ml lip balm pots.  Place a lid on each jar.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub RecipeVanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe

Often times, our customers will give us input on things that might be missing from our recipe box.  Our next recipe, a vanilla brown sugar scrub, came from some of these requests.  We have had many requests for an emulsified brown sugar scrub recipe.  So, we decided to create our vanilla brown sugar scrub recipe.  This recipe not only uses brown sugar, but also vanilla powder.  In addition, we are using a variety of natural oils and waxes.  Personally, I have found that I love the gentle exfoliation a brown sugar body scrub gives to my skin.  So, if you are a fan of sugar scrubs, and typically use white sugar, I suggest trying the addition of brown sugar instead this time.  Compare the two types for yourself!  Let us know what you think.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe:  Before Starting Prepare Your Packaging Materials

Before you start creating your scrub you will want to clean your work area and utensils.  You will also want to sanitize all of the packaging materials and other items you will be using to make this vanilla scrub recipe.  In addition, you will want to wear an apron, gloves, and a hair net while making this craft project.  You will need nine of the 4 ounce clear PET jars.  Also, nine white dome lids 58/400.  Once you have everything ready, go ahead and move to the next step.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe:  Preparing Your Oils, Waxes, and Butters

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe: Preparing Your Oils, Waxes, and ButtersWe will be using a double boiler to melt our oils, butters, and waxes once we weigh them out.  Using a double boiler will prevent our oils from burning, or getting too hot.  So, weigh out 136 grams of coconut oil 76, 110 grams of grape seed oil, 74 grams cocoa butter golden natural, 62 grams of shea butter, 50 grams of emulsifying wax traditional, 23 grams of jojoba oil, and 12 grams of white beeswax.  Allow these ingredients to melt, stirring occasionally.  While we are waiting for the oils to melt, we can go get our other ingredients weighed out.  Move to the next step.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe:  Preparing the Other Ingredients Needed

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe: Preparing the Other Ingredients NeededWe will start by weighing out the brown sugar.  You will need to medium size mixing bowl.  Use a scale to weigh out 860 grams of brown sugar.  If you notice any clumps of sugar you will want to use your hands to break them up.  Next, we will be adding the vanilla powder to the brown sugar.  Using your scale, weigh out 5 grams of vanilla powder.  Mix this into the brown sugar.  You want to make sure the vanilla powder is evenly dispersed in the sugar.  I also found it easier to use my hands to mix it in.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe: Preparing the Other Ingredients NeededNow, we will begin weighing out the other ingredients in separate bowls.  I find it easiest to have these weighed out in small bowls ahead of time so I can be prepared when my oils are finished melting.  Once again, using a scale, weigh out 10 grams of optiphen preservative.  Then, in another bowl, weigh out 30 grams of Natures Garden’s Vanilla Extract Fragrance Oil.  In a third bowl, weigh out 5 grams of vitamin e oil.  Finally, in a fourth bowl, weigh out 15 grams of arrowroot powder.  Set these off to the side until your oils have finished melting.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe:  Combining All of the Ingredients

I would like to note a few things before we begin this step.  The temperature is extremely important here since we are adding a preservative.  If we add our Optiphen preservative above 140 degrees Fahrenheit it will burn off.  However, adding it below 120 degrees will cause separation in your finished product.  You may also be wonder why we are adding a preservative.  While our vanilla brown sugar scrub recipe scrub doesn’t  contain water, body scrubs are typically used in the shower so, they may come in contact with quite a bit of water.  It is better to be safe when making this type of product.  After all, you do not want your customers, or yourself getting sick from bacteria growth in your product.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe: Combining All of the IngredientsSo, with all of the being said, let’s move on to putting everything together.  Once your oils have melted, allow the temperature to drop to around 120 degrees Fahrenheit, no lower.  First, we will add the 15 grams of arrowroot powder to the melted oil.  Use a spatula to mix the arrowroot powder into the oil.  Next, add the 10 grams of Optiphen preservative you prepared earlier.  Then, the 30 grams of Vanilla Extract Fragrance Oil.  Finally, add the 5 grams of vitamin e oil.  As you are adding each ingredient you will want to mix well to incorporate each one.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe:  Adding the Brown Sugar and Vanilla Powder Mixture

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe: Adding the Brown Sugar and Vanilla Powder MixtureFinally, we will be adding the sugar to the scrub recipe.  Add the bowl of sugar and vanilla powder you prepared in a an earlier step.  Once added, mix very well to incorporate the brown sugar.  Then, allow the vanilla brown sugar scrub to set up at room temperature.  This will allow the oils to combine completely with the sugar.  Once the scrub is at room temperature, begin adding it to your jars.  We chose to use the 4 oz clear jars.  Also, we used white dome lids.  However, if you choose, you can use a different jar and lid combination.  Just remember using 4 oz jars allows us to create 9 jars of vanilla brown sugar scrubs.  Once you have filled each jar, place a lid on top.

Finally, I have got to say, if you are looking for a gentle sugar scrub recipe, personally, I highly recommend this one.  I have found brown sugar to be a wonderful addition to scrub recipes.  I will definitely be making this recipe again.  Personally, I may even be making these for Christmas baskets that I plan to give to my friends and family.  I’m thinking I might add some mica this time, just because I LOVE all things that sparkle!  Have you created your own brown sugar scrub?  Perhaps you have created another bath and body product?  Or, maybe you have used this recipe?  We would love to see how yours turned out!  Post a pic on Instagram, tagging @ngscents.  Alternatively, you could post a picture directly to our Facebook page.  We absolutely love seeing how our customers are using our products!  We hope that you enjoy this brown sugar scrub recipe as much as we have!

Wine Sugar Scrub RecipeWine Sugar Scrub Recipe

I’m sure by now you, like me, have heard about the health benefits of drinking a glass of red wine each day. Is it is true?  I sure hope so!  There is nothing better than pouring a glass of red wine at the end of a long day.  While I don’t drink wine on everyday, in recent years I have come to realize that I actually prefer wine to other adult beverages.  In the past we have used wine in cold process soap recipes.  Personally, I find it fascinating to incorporate foods or beverages into soap.  I love making wine soap!  It is one of my favorite ways to make soap.  So, with that in mind, I thought, I wonder if it would work in a scrub.  Yes, yes it did.  This is quite possibly my favorite sugar scrub recipe I have made to date!  So, our next recipe is for all of our wine lovers out there.  We have created a wine sugar scrub recipe using real red wine.  I hope that you love it just as much as I do.  As an added bonus we have added a little diamond dust mica, giving this scrub, and your body just a slight shimmer.  What woman doesn’t love wine and diamonds!

Wine Sugar Scrub Recipe Ingredients From Natures Garden

Wine Sugar Scrub Recipe Other Ingredients Needed

Mixing Bowls – You will need two of these.
Rubber Spatula
Mixing Spoon
Stove
Pots – These will be used for our double boiler step.
White granulated sugar
Red Wine – Whichever type you choose.

Prior to beginning, we suggest wearing an apron, gloves, and other protective clothing.  Also, sanitize your work area as well as all packaging supplies and utensils you will be using.

Wine Sugar Scrub RecipeWine Sugar Scrub Recipe Melt Your Oils

First, we will need to melt our natural oils, butters, and cosmetic waxes.  There are several oils and butters that will be added to this body scrub recipe.  Using a gram scale, weigh out your oils, butters, and waxes.  You will need 136 grams of olive oil, 41 grams of sweet almond oil, 40 grams of grape seed oil, 32 grams of avocado oil, 68 grams of cocoa butter deodorized, 68 grams of shea butter, 45 grams of traditional emulsifying wax, and finally 9 grams of beeswax.  We will be melting our oils, waxes, and butters using a double boiler.  So, you will need to create a double boiler using two pots. Melt the oils in the double boiler.  While you are waiting for the oils to melt, go ahead and move to the next step.

Wine Sugar Scrub RecipeWine Sugar Scrub Recipe Prepare the Sugar and Mica Mixture

Again, you will need your scale.  As alway, set the scale to weigh in grams. Then, add 896 grams of the granulated white sugar to your medium sized mixing bowl.  Then, add 1/2 teaspoon of Natures Garden’s diamond dust mica pigment.  While wearing gloves, use your hands to mix the mica into the sugar.  Also, make sure you break up any clumps of sugar with your hands.  You will need to be sure the mica is evenly dispersed throughout the white sugar.  Once you have finished, set this aside, for now, we will come back to it later.  Warning:  If you are anything like me, and distracted by sparkling objects, do not look into the bowl!  It will have the most beautiful shimmer!  I learned this one the hard way!  Admire it later, we still have more work to do!

Wine Sugar Scrub RecipeWine Sugar Scrub Recipe Adding Additional Ingredients

Once your oils have melted, place them in an empty mixing bowl.  Add 20 drops of Nature’s Garden’s Deep Purple FUN Soap Colorant and 15 drops our Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant.  Mix well to incorporate the color.  Then, add 100 grams of red wine.  Mix well.  For this next step, the temperature is extremely important.  You should know that when adding Optiphen preservative if the temperature is too low you will experience separation in your finished product.  However, if the Optiphen is added when the temperature is too high, you will burn the optiphen preservative off.  So, allow your temperature to drop to 120 degrees, no lower.  At this temperature, add the 9 grams of Natures Garden’s Christmas Cabernet Fragrance Oil, the 5 grams of Optiphen preservative, and lastly, 5 grams of vitamin e oil (Tocopherol T-50).  Finally, mix everything very well to incorporate all of the ingredients.

Wine Sugar Scrub RecipeWine Sugar Scrub Recipe Putting it All Together

Now, to the medium bowl containing the oils, slowly add the white granulated sugar and mica mixture you prepared earlier.  Mix the sugar into the oils so it is evenly dispersed.  Once everything is mixed, allow the scrub to set up at room temperature.  Finally, add the wine body scrub to the 4 ounce PET plastic jars.  You will need nine of the 4 ounce jars for this scrub recipe.  We chose to use our white dome lids to top the jars.  Place a 58/400 white dome lid on top of each four ounce jar.  Now, your scrubs are ready to use.  You can use them right away.

One of my favorite wineries is Matus Winery!  If you’re local, or in the area, you must try one of their wine slushies!  On your next trip to your favorite local winery, pick up an extra bottle of red wine.  Then, go home, pour yourself a glass of wine, and make our Wine Sugar Scrub Recipe!  Perhaps even make it before an at home spa day with all your friends!  Be sure to take a lot of pictures and show us how your wine sugar scrub recipe turns out.  We absolutely love seeing your other projects too!  It doesn’t matter if it is this recipe or a different one.  Finally, post them to Natures Garden’s Facebook page or tag us on Instagram @ngscents.
