Granulated Candle Wax RecipesGranulated Candle Wax Recipes

Granulated candle wax recipes are a perfect way to make candle making simple! These Natures Garden recipes require no melting, so it is easier and safer to create. This means that you don’t need to pay attention to the temperatures at which to pour. Also, you can allow kids to help create these candles because there is no heat involved! You get to skip all these more complicated aspects and move straight to the creative part of candle making. So, the majority of your focus will be on scent, color, and scooping it the wax. Further, the granulated wax is easier to manipulate than the melted wax. While the melted wax can’t really be moved after its poured without ruining the appearance, granulated wax can be manipulated to look exactly how you want. It is similar to creating those layered sand crafts. So, kids may enjoy these candles more for that reason. But, this doesn’t mean that granulated candles are just for kiddos. Adults can get creative with this method, too. Check out our recipes to see exactly what you could be making through this style of candles making.

Granulated Candle Wax Recipes Pillar of BlissGranulated Candle Wax Recipes Pillar of Bliss Wax

First, we have the lovely Pillar of Bliss Wax by Natures Garden. This wax is a blend of mostly soy wax and a bit of paraffin wax to create a lovely candle wax. You can either melt the wax for candles or leave the wax whole. Either way, you can perfectly scent and color your wax for making amazing candles.  The wax looks like small beads initially, which can be fun for homemade candles. So, this granulated wax is perfect for making textured candles that look amazing!

Granulated Candle Wax Recipes Day at the Beach Candle RecipeGranulated Candle Wax Recipes Day at the Beach Candle Recipe

One perfect way to use this granulated wax is to create the Day at the Beach Candle Recipe. This wax is perfect for creating a fun beach themed candle! We wanted to create this beach candle to match the aroma of our NG Copper Hue Suntan Lotion Fragrance Oil. So, we needed to dye the pillar of bliss wax to look just like soft, white sand. Further, the small wax beads add to the granulated sand texture that is perfect for creating sand. All we had to do was color the granulated Pillar of Bliss Wax. Then, melt the wax, like normal, to create the water and there you have it!

Also, you can use this awesome wax to create unique designs in your homemade candles. Our Bacon Candle Recipe used three different portions of colored Pillar of Bliss Wax. This was used to create an appearance of real bacon along the sides of the jar! All we had to do was color, scent, and scoop in the wax. Plus, the scent of our Bacon Fragrance Oil really added to this fun candle! While creating a candle like this can be a bit more time consuming, this type of candle making gives you the opportunity to make more unique types of candles.

Granulated Candle Wax Recipes Democratic Candle RecipeGranulated Candle Wax Recipes Democratic Candle Recipe

The Democratic Candle Recipe is another great example of what you can create with this wax! One issue that comes up with candle embeds is the possibility of your embed melting once you pour in the rest of the candle. But, granulated completely changes the game. Instead, you just need to scoop in your gorgeous red and white striped layers. So, between the granulated wax, simple embed, and the scent of Democrat Fragrance Oil this is a perfect candle!

Granulated Candle Wax Recipes Pink Camouflage Candle RecipeGranulated Candle Wax Recipes Pink Camouflage Candle Recipe

Next, we have the pretty Pink Camouflage Candle Recipe! This candle idea uses the amazing NG CanCan Type Fragrance Oil with Pillar of Bliss Wax to create a cool design. Similarly to the bacon candle, this candle allows you to scoop in your wax to create a design. So, just grab a spoon and start making your candle. This candle uses various shades of pink to create an awesome pink camo candle!

Also, you can create the Green Camouflage Candle Recipe. Obviously, you can create this candle basically the same way that the pink camouflage candle is made. The only difference between these candles is the colors are green and the scent is the Fresh Outdoors Fragrance Oil. Just mix up your granulated wax colors and start scooping up the wax with a spoon.

Further, Pillar of Bliss Wax is perfect for making scoopable wax for your wax warmers! Granulated wax is perfect for making DIY scoopable wax for your oil burners. All you really have to do is color and scent to wax, then it’s all done! Plus, this recipe is cute and smells delicious with the cute wax leaves and the amazing Autumn Woods Fragrance Oil. After you mix in your little leaves, your wax is ready to scoop straight into your warmer!

Granulated Candle Wax Recipes Glistening Snowflakes Potpourri RecipeGranulated Candle Wax Recipes Glistening Snowflakes Potpourri Recipe

The Glistening Snowflakes Potpourri Recipe is another great idea for creating a scoopable wax melt recipe. Of course, this recipe uses the amazing Pillar of Bliss Wax! Plus, some of the wax is melted to create small, blue snowflakes that stand out against the snow white base. This pretty appearance combined with the scent of Jack Frost Fragrance Oil is perfect for winter time! This winter season you won’t want anything else in your wax warmer!

Next, check out the Independence Day Candle Recipe! This recipe is for another fun embed candle. The embed is a cut out of a star shape and you can see the red and white stripes straight through your blue star cut out. The only thing that could’ve made this candle more patriotic is the Apple Pie Fragrance Oil (Our Old Version). Luckily, we added that, too!

Granulated Candle Wax Recipes Hydrangea Candle RecipeGranulated Candle Wax Recipes Hydrangea Candle Recipe

Also, we have the pretty Hydrangea Candle Recipe! This candle recipe uses beautiful shades of blue and purple to create the gorgeous candle that was inspired by real Hydrangea flowers! Furthermore, this candle is topped with butterfly wax embeds, which is perfect for this candle. Apparently, butterflies love our Hydrangea Heaven Fragrance Oil as much as the real flower!

Granulated Candle Wax Recipes More Pillar of Bliss Wax Ideas

Not only can you use this wax to make fun designs, but this wax is perfect for kids to create layered sand candles that they can use! Just mix up the colors in bottles, set the wick, and let your kids create their own candle! It’s a super cute and a craft idea for kids that wouldn’t take too much work to set up. There is no need to melt the wax and all your kids need you do is pour in the layers! Plus, it is just as fun as creating layered sand bottles.

Granulated Candle Wax Recipes Palm Container Candle WaxGranulated Candle Wax Recipes Palm Container Candle Wax

Palm Container Candle Wax is another great idea for creating some homemade granulated candles. This wax looks almost identical to the granulated wax of Pillar of Bliss. Plus, this environmentally conscious product is a natural wax that is perfect for candle making. You will love this wax in your homemade candles! The scent throw is lovely and the appearance is perfect for textured candles.

Also, you can use Palm Pillar Candle Wax to create more unique granulated candles. While it is unlikely that you will create granulated pillar candles, with a container of some sort, this wax is wonderful for making these candles. It has the same lovely granulated appearance as both of the other two waxes and has a scent throw as strong as the Palm Container Candle Wax. So, this wax is another great choice for granulated candle making.

Granulated Candle Wax Recipes What About the Rainforest?Granulated Candle Wax Recipes What About the Rainforest?

Well, there is no need to worry because our palm waxes are safe! Our palm waxes come from palm trees which are cultivated on private plantations. Thus, our palm wax is no threat to rainforests or the orangutan ecosystems. Our palm wax is eco-friendly and is provided from a sustainable tree crop which helps to sequester carbon. We are pleased to affirm that the palm oil used by our company originates from reputable plantation companies who are members of the Malaysian Palm Oil Association (MPOA). MPOA, together with many other stakeholders, has pioneered the establishment of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). Besides plantation companies, foreign companies and Associations such as Unilever, Sainsbury (in the United Kingdom), Migros (in Switzerland) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) are also active participants in RSPO. These members have pledged to support all activities to promote and implement sustainable palm oil production.

Granulated Candle Wax Recipes How to Color Granulated WaxGranulated Candle Wax Recipes How to Color Granulated Wax

While you can melt your granulated wax to create solid candles, it perfectly possible to create a granulated candle at home. Since there is no need to melt wax, you may be confused as to how you would add colorants or fragrance oil, but it is super easy to do! When I create my own granulated candles, I prefer to use a Ziploc bag. First, just add in the measured proportion of the granulated wax. Then, you are going to add in some of your colorant. But, the colorant will need to be a liquid candle dye. Since you are not melting the wax, a color block will not work the same way. So, add your chosen liquid candle color. Then, shut the bag and mix! You can add more colorant, if so desired, until you get the color you need for your candle.

Similarly to coloring your granulated wax, adding your fragrance oil is super easy! After you determine the perfect color, all you need to do is mix in your fragrance oil. Just add in the product safe percentage of your fragrance oil, which is usually 10%. Many allow the 10%, but every fragrance oil is different. Now, all you need to do is mix in the scent! After, you are ready to begin scooping the wax mixture into your jars.

My First Attempt at Soapmaking

Enji Natures GardenHi, I’m Katie from Nature’s Garden. (That’s me and Enji!) We’ve got a great team here, and my role largely involves writing fragrance blogs and rendering videos. I’ve been working here for a little over two months, and I’ve watched Bailey make a LOT of soap (you can, too, if you click that link)! Until I started working here, I had very little knowledge of soapmaking (and I still have a LOT to learn), but you bet your bippy I like crafts of all kinds, and I’ve been itching to get my hands on some soap. This past weekend, a friend asked me to house-sit and I had a rare opportunity: an entire kitchen at my disposal. (I live with my folks, two teenage siblings, and a large puppy [keep reading for pic], so the kitchen can be a little crowded.) On Friday, I frantically purchased soapmaking supplies from our store, and soon after started my first foray into melt-and-pour.

Katie’s Impulsive Orange Soap

Truthfully, I don’t trust myself with anything too potentially hazardous. While I’ve read all about lye safety and its proper handling, I still don’t trust my clumsy self. Melt and pour seemed to be the way to go. We use mango butter in our cold process soap-testing recipe because of its moisturizing properties, so I decided to buy some Mango Butter Melt and Pour Soap.

Natures Garden Reed Diffuser KitOn a separate note, I am absolutely obsessed with Blood Orange Essential Oil. Pictured to the right is the reed diffuser that sits in my office, filled with blood orange essential oil (and reed diffuser baseReed diffuser kits come plain- I just painted mine to match the workplace). It smells insanely amazing and its considered aromatherapy benefits are as a stimulant and an anti-depressant (an aphrodisiac, too, but that’s not important at work). IMPORTANT NOTE ON USING CITRUS ESSENTIAL OILS IN BATH AND BODY PRODUCTS: Citrus fruits contain compounds designed to help them absorb sunlight to ripen. Citrus essential oils are likely to increase the photosensitivity- or sensitivity to sunlight- of your skin. I’m already as white as ghost, so I need to be especially careful not to use this soap on body parts that will see a lot of sun. I already get sunburnt pretty easily, and overuse of citrus essential oil on sun-exposed skin can lead to a type of super-sunburn. No thank you.

My idea quickly became centered around making an energizing soap with mango butter melt and pour and blood orange essential oil- but what else? I looked up natural soap colorantsOrange Peel Powder, rich with vitamins and a citrus aroma, seemed like an obvious addition, and for extra orange color, I included skin-nourishing Carrot Powder and cleansing Red Moroccan Clay Powder. Let me remind you again that I pretty much have no idea what I’m doing. –Since I was a kid, I’ve loved making my own recipes. Even if they were terrible. I once put cinnamon squares cereal in a bowl with ripped up bread and orange soda pop. I have no idea why. I can’t imagine anyone ate it. (I’m not sure how those fragrances would smell together, either.)– But no one’s going to eat this soap, so I figured I couldn’t go too terribly wrong, right?

To recap, here’s my recipe (and a picture of me and my dog for fun):

Mango Butter Melt and Pour Soap – 1lb
Blood Orange Essential Oil – ~32 drops
Orange Peel Powder – 2 tbsp
Carrot Powder – 1 tbsp
Red Moroccan Clay Powder – 1 tbsp

Other Supplies:

Knife
Cutting board
Scale
Stove
Small sauce pan
Glass 2-cup Measuring Container with spout
Water
Tbsp measuring spoon
Small bowl
Whisk
Stainless steel spoon
Disposable pipettes
Bite-sized daisies mold

Making it:

First, gotta cut up those lil melt and pour squares. I cut my soap along the lines laid out and then I cut those pieces into halves or even quarters for faster melting. You can use a microwave, but I wanted more time to add my herbs and oil so I used the double boiler method to melt my mango butter base (or something very similar- I just googled “double boiler method” and that’s not exactly what I did. Oops.) In the little bowl I mixed 1 tbsp of each of my powders with the whisk, being sure to break up carrot powder clumps. Once my soap base was good and melt-y, I stirred in my powders and began mixing with a whisk. Shortly thereafter I used a pipette to add my blood orange essential oil. I didn’t measure this one out exactly, but a friend suggested I use no more than a few drops of essential oil per ounce of base, so initially I went with about 1 drop/oz. It didn’t smell orange-y enough to me,Impulsive-Orange-Two so I added an extra tbsp of orange peel powder and upped my essential oil to 2 drops/oz base. Once I got my batter thoroughly mixed, I poured it into that *cute little flower mold,* very messily, I might add, and very carefully laid the filled molds on paper towels on a flat shelf in the fridge. I waited a while for them to set up, at least a half hour, and then popped them out and put them in a zip-seal bag. THEY SMELL GREAT. I cannot get over how much I love this soap. I have never smelled anything like it before- it’s orange-y and herbal-y and the soap turned out to be a tan-orange color- and I LOVE IT.

But melt and pour comes in two pound slabs.. so what did I do with the other pound?

Bacon-SoapBACON SOAP

This one was more simple and scientific. One pound = 16 oz.  and (16 x 0.05 = 0.8). I measured out 0.8 oz Bacon Fragrance Oil and.. I’m not sure sure how much Red Moroccan Clay Powder I used.. maybe 3 or 4 tbsp? But I used the same melt and pour method described above and ended up with a pound of bacon soap! Woohoo! Be sure to keep this soap away from your puppy- he might mistake them for treats- they are bite-sized and they smell like bacon. Though honestly, my goofy dog will try to eat anything.

I can’t wait to create another soap recipe with herbs and essential oils!

Weird Scents and Unique Fragrances

natures garden, weird scentsWeird Scents and Unique Fragrances: Katie Smells

We’ve got weird scents to smell and fun fragrances to sniff as far as the eye can see (as far as the nose can.. breathe..?). As you may remember from a previous post, I have smelled them all. I already told you about my top ten favorite scents (more or less) and now I bring to you some of the Weird Scents and Unique Fragrances of Nature’s Garden.

weird scents, dill pickleDill Pickle – An NG Original!

Smells just like a pickle. I’m particular to the sweet variety of pickles myself- sweet on sweet pickles- but I cannot deny that this smells just like a dill pickle. Fun fact, I did not learn until embarrassingly late in life that pickles are just pickled cucumbers. We’ve got all kinds of cucumber fragrances if you’re interested in the lil green things BEFORE they’re pickled. I’m really not sure what else to say about this fragrance. Buy it for the dill pickle enthusiast in your life!

weird scents, garden dirtGarden Dirt – An NG Original!

Why you would want to smell like garden dirt is beyond me, but this fragrance oil smells exactly like that. Maybe you’re a gardener and you want to come in from gardening and wash your hands of the dirt, but retain the smell..? Maybe you want to make a candle that smells like garden dirt so your whole house can smell like your garage or a home improvement store? Or trick outdoor plants into growing inside your house? Cover yourself in the smell of garden dirt to more easily make friends with wild plants? Eh????

weird scents, hayrideHayride

Does not smell like horse poop! When I initially saw the bottle for hayride, I was nervous because I generally associate horses with a stinky smell. But here’s the thing- on a hayride- the horses just keep walking- so you don’t have to smell any droppings they may leave behind! Just stay away from the horse. Compare this fragrance to a horse-drawn hayride through the crisp fall air and you won’t even be able to tell the difference. You can smell the fresh hay.

weird scents, leather jacketLeather Jacket

It really does smell like a brand new leather jacket. I’ve never owned a brand new leather jacket- I got my mom’s hand-me-down from when she was Sandy in Grease in her high school production- but I’ve walked into stores where they are selling new leather and stuck my face in to smell that smell. Smells good. Makes me wanna join a greaser gang and sing “Summer Lovin’.” (Those dudes were crazy to wear leather jackets in the summer; get the smell without the unnecessary extra body heat!)

weird scents, moneyMoney – An NG Original!

Money can’t buy happiness, but you can use your money to buy our Money Fragrance Oil. Insert lyrics to your favorite song about money here. My personal favorite is Say Anything’s Punk Goes Crunk cover of ODB’s “Baby, I Got Your Money.” Most of the lyrics are explicit but I can say “Baby, I got your money; don’t you worry.” And we do! We’ve got the fragrance oil you need to make your house/hands/body smell like you’re made of money. Spend a little money now and you’ll be able to trick people into thinking you have all the money in the world! (Or that you’re a banker! Or that you work at a mint!)

weird scents, new carNew Car Scent

Don’t you wish you could bottle that new car smell? Here it is- another one of those fragrances where you spend a lil money on a bottle of oil to feel rich beyond your wildest dreams! (That may be an overreaction but I’m 23 and I’ve never had a new car in my life. This is my first ‘real job,’ and I am smelling the heck out of it.) And guess what? We’ve got a recipe for a room spray that you can use to freshen your car and make it smell like new! Trick the dealership into thinking you’re still under warranty!

weird scents, peanut butter cookiePeanut Butter Cookie

What’s weird about a peanut butter cookieI don’t know, dear reader, but something about this scent just really pulled me in. We’ve got plenty of other bakery fragrances, but this is our only fragrance with peanut butter. And it really smells just like a peanut butter cookie. Boring, I know, I say that for every entry, but that’s why they’re on this list. You walk up to our fragrance bar, see the name of a scent, go “whaa?” pick it up, and it smells just like the real thing. It’s weird. Peanut butter cookie!

weird scents, colaweird scents, buttered popcornButtered Popcorn and Cola

These are actually two separate fragrance oils: Buttered Popcorn and Cola. I put them together because they emulate the experience of going to the movies. You can’t really have popcorn without a drink–your mouth would get all dry and salty. Yuck. How can you enjoy the movie when you’re thirsty? Plus, you get the sweet taste of the cola and the salty, buttery taste of the popcorn. What a great combination! (I personally prefer rootbeer, but cola seems to have more appeal to a mass audience.) Don’t eat fragrance oil; make your home smell like a concession stand!

weird scents, whole wheat breadWhole Wheat Bread

Trying to smell like you’re eating healthier? Then our Whole Wheat Bread Fragrance Oil is for you!  Or maybe you wanna combine fragrances to create a sandwich scent. Here you go; here’s the bread. We’ve got five other breadrelated fragrances (including Gingerbread if you count that as a bread), but this one takes the cake.. er.. loaf. The others are sweet, fruity* breads and this is just straight up whole wheat. (*Zucchini is a fruit- I looked it up.)

weird scents, baconBacon

That’s right, I’m putting it in another list; bacon. Sweet, savory bacon. Did you really think I could make it through talking about interesting, unique, smells-like-the-real-thing fragrances without mentioning my beloved bacon? We’ve got a tomato leaf corriander fragrance, if you want to use it with bacon and whole wheat bread fragrances to make a BLT fragrance. Oh, bacon. You understand me. And ya smell so good! We’ve got an awesome recipe for bacon candles. BACON!

Thanks for reading!

You really didn’t have to, but I appreciate it immensely. Weird scents is subjective- maybe your idea of weird is different. Come smell with us if you feel so inclined; we’ve got over 800 fragrances!

Katie's Favorite ScentsKatie’s Favorite Scents: Katie Smells

Today I visited our store on the southwest corner of Whitehead and Route 18. We have over 800 fragrance oils at our fragrance bar, and I smelled every one. Every. Single. One. All for you, dear reader. So I could tell you about my top ten favorite scents – Katie’s Favorite Scents. (I’m Katie; hi!)

BACONBacon

I bet you can figure this one out. We have a fragrance oil that smells like sweet, savory baconIt doesn’t smell like REAL bacon, I’ve heard people say, but it comes pretty darn close. The only way it could smell more like “real” bacon is if it were an actual bottle of bacon grease. But who’s using bacon grease to make soap or candles when you can use bacon grease for BACON?! Man, I really want some bacon. If you want soap or candles that smell like bacon- this is your best bet.

Berry Bewitching BrewBerry Bewitching Brew

Fun to say, even more fun to smell. Berry Bewitching Brew is full of fruity fragrances that are not overpowering- a hint of woodsy musk serves to balance the scent. Fruits in this fragrance include peach, apricots, and blackberries. This scent makes me think of a secluded house near the woods with the windows open. Perfect to use in homemade soap or candles if you have such a house. Or if you don’t, you can let it transport you to a place of peace. Almost like magic.

Iced PineappleIced Pineapple

Speaking of clean, fruity smells, how about some pineapple? All the smell of fresh pineapple without having to do all the work of cutting an actual pineapple. It may seem a little tropical or summery, but this scent smells great year round – like a vacation for your nose! This is another one of those mouth-watering scents that you’ll just want to bite into–but please don’t. If you feel so compelled, go out and by fresh pineapple, or canned pineapple.

Pumpkin Apple ButterPumpkin Apple Butter

Let’s face it, unfortunately, summer is over for soap-makers and it’s time to start making soap that will cure by the Fall. Fret not, readers – I have found yet another delicious scent, but this one embodies autumn: Pumpkin Apple Butter. Do you like making baked goods with pumpkin? How about apple? How about butter? How about the smell of those delicious treats together?? No need to stick your head in the oven, this scent smells just like Grandma’s kitchen during dessert on Thanksgiving.

NG Baby Graceful TypeNG Baby Graceful Type

As a former professional sitter, lemme tell you, babies do not always smell great. In fact, they rarely do, if ever. NG Baby Graceful Type smells like the babies that dreams are made of. It’s fresh and clean with a hint of fruit and sweetness. And look at how cute that baby is in the photo. She’s a butterfly princess! What a sweetie. This fragrance will make you forget that real babies are loud and smelly, and instead invoke thoughts of cherubs who help you with housework. Can you imagine if real babies did that?

Smoke EliminatorSmoke Eliminator

Okay, so this one doesn’t have the most flowery or imaginative name, but it smells great. Smoke Eliminator fragrance oil is loaded with lemon and lime to give you a fresh fruit scent. Like a refreshing lemon-lime soda. Even if you don’t need to eliminate the smell of smoke, a fragrance this strong could help clean air against other odors as well (wet dog? smelly cat? stinky babies?).  I’d call this another mouth-watering scent, but the cigarette in the picture is kind of ruining it for me. Don’t eat cigarettes.

SpearmintSpearmint

Alright, reader. I’m going to level with you. I chose most of these scents because they hold a position near and dear to my heart. I love spearmint. Once upon a time, a certain company used to make bite-sized mint candies, and I would eat at least a pack a day. I cannot get enough mint. Spearmint helps stimulate brain function, circulation, and can even work to provide relief from digestive and menstruation issues. Plus, it smells nice and clean. Cooling, relaxing.

RootbeerRootbeer

Speaking of sweet treats that I once was obsessed with- ROOTBEER! This fragrance oil smells just like the real thing. Or- like the bacon fragrance oil- as close as possible to the real thing without actually being the real thing. Mmm. A nice, vanilla-y scent, this smell takes me back to when I consumed any and all things rootbeer-related. My younger sister was mistakenly under the impression that rootbeer was alcoholic and thought I indeed had a serious problem. (If you’re looking for the smell of actual beer – we have that, too.)

NG Vanilla Lace and PearlsNG Vanilla Lace and Pearls

We have got plenty of vanilla-scented fragrance oils, but NG Vanilla Lace and Pearls is by far my personal favorite. As a child, I had a body spray that smelled very similar to this scent. I had one bottle and I saved it for only the most special occasions. This was the scent of the woman I wanted to be: a princess. Look at that picture – sweet and delicate yet refined and beautiful. Warm vanilla with a hint of sweet flower and musk. We also have a Princess Type fragrance oil, but I personally prefer lace and pearls.

Moonlight PomegranateMoonlight Pomegranate

Okay, so Moonlight Pomegranate reminds me of the body spray I preferred as a teen. More sexy, more mysterious, accentuated by the moonlight. Wildly inappropriate in context, but as far as the person you aspire to smell like, not bad at all. This scent is fruity yet spicy and even a little woodsy. Like eating a pomegranate in a moonlit clearing in the forest. Don’t believe me? Go try it during the next full moon. Wear a silky, dark red dress. Sweet, sexy, mysterious.

Katie Smells and So Can You!

Remember – this list is nowhere near exhaustive! These were just my top ten favorites, and I honestly had a very difficult time picking only ten. Stop on by our store and smell for yourself. We have over 800 scents – you’re bound to find one that you absolutely love. I challenge you to write your own top ten; it’s a lot harder than you’d think. Thanks for reading!

bacon-candle-recipeHave you been thinking of what to the dads in your life on Father’s Day? So have we, and that’s why we’ve created this bacon candle recipe. This is a great gift idea for bacon lovers and dads alike. Not only will he adore having his very own bacon candle, but there is no hot wax involved in the creation of this bacon candle. This kid friendly project allows children the enjoyment of making their father a unique bacon scented candle, while you can rest easy knowing they won’t be burned. Plus, what shows you care more than spending time on a one of a kind gift that he’s sure to love?

Here are the ingredients you will need:

Pillar of Bliss Wax- 10 Pounds

Bacon Fragrance Oil

Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye- BROWN 1oz.

Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye- Red 1oz.

CD Candle Wicks (100 wicks)

Disposable Pipettes

1- 16 oz. Glass Apothecary Jar
(3) Ziplock bags for mixing colored wax
Hot Glue Gun
Disposable Spoons
Pencil

Scale

Toothpicks

Bacon-Candle-Step-1Using a hot glue gun, glue two CD-12 wicks to the apothecary jar.  Make sure they are place equally apart in the candle jar.
For the next step you will need three ziplock bags.  In each of the 3 bags, weigh out 120 grams of Natures Garden’s Pillar of Bliss Candle Wax.

Now, add 12 grams of Nature’s Garden Bacon Fragrance Oil to each bag.
Next, we are going to color the wax using Natures Garden Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye. This candle colorant will be added straight to the ziplock bag just like you did with the fragrance. In the first bag add 1 drop of Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye- Red and 1 drop of Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye- Brown.  This will be used for the darker red color.  Bag two will be used as the light pink color.  Dip a toothpick tip into the red spectrum candle dye and place the dye into the wax.  Dip the toothpick one more time into the red candle dye and work into the wax.  Lastly, dip another toothpick into the brown dye one time and incorporate into the wax.  The third ziplock bag will remain uncolored.  Shake each bag well.  Make sure all of the color and bacon fragrance oil is fully dispersed.

Now, it is time to begin creating your candle.  We suggest using disposable spoons for this.  We will simply be layering the wax to create a bacon like look.  Start with the uncolored Pillar of Bliss Wax.  Place the wax along the bottom of the jar.  You will want to make a thin line of uncolored, bacon scented wax.  Directly on top of the uncolored wax, place a layer of the light pink wax.  On top of the light pink granulated wax, place a thin layer of the dark red wax.  Continue layering the wax until your jar is completely full.  Be careful when filling your jar.  You want to make sure the wicks remain centered as you fill the candle container.  Once you have filled the jar, use a pencil to curl the candle wicks.
