Natures Garden’s next recipe involves one of our new products.  Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) is a wonderful product that leaves your skin feeling soft and silky.  In addition, this ingredient gives your products a fabulous bubbly lather.  Well, this next recipe shows you how to use SCI in bubble bars, or in this case, scoop-able bubble bars.  Make your own bubble bars using Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate and Mango Sorbet Fragrance Oil!

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate
Sodium Bicarbonate- Baking Soda
Cream of Tartar
Corn Starch
Sweet Almond Oil
Vegetable Glycerin
Jailhouse Red FUN Soap Colorant
Yelp Yellow FUN Soap Colorant
Yellow Oxide FUN Soap Colorant
Small Stainless Steel Scoop
Safety Gloves
Safety Mask

Make Your Own Bubble Bars Other Supplies You Will Need

Deep Mixing Bowl
Mixing Spoon or Measuring Cups and Spoons
Parchment Paper or Silicone Baking Mat
Scale

Make Your Own Bubble Bars Total Recipe Weights

I would like to point out that while we are giving you both weight and volume measurements, we definitely recommend using the weighted measurements.  The volume measurements are not going to be as accurate.

205 grams (1 cup) Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate
230 grams (1 cup) Sodium Bicarbonate- Baking Soda
112 grams (1/3 cup) Cream of Tartar
36 grams (1/3 cup) Corn Starch
100 grams (1/3 cup) Vegetable Glycerin
12 grams (1 TBSP) Sweet Almond Oil
7 grams Mango Sorbet Fragrance Oil
1 gram FUN Soap Colorant Jailhouse Red
6 grams FUN Soap Colorant Yelp Yellow
3 drops FUN Soap Colorant Yellow Oxide

Make Your Own Bubble Bars Weigh Out Your Dry IngredientsFirst, you will need a deep mixing bowl.  Use your scale to weigh out 205 grams of sodium cocoyl isethionate, 230 grams of sodium bicarbonate which is commonly known as baking soda, 112 grams of cream of tartar, and lastly 36 grams of corn starch.  Then, use your hands, or a mixing spoon to blend the ingredients together.  You also want to make sure you have broken up any clumps you may find in the mixture.

Now, in a separate small bowl, weigh out your dry ingredients.  Use your scale to add 100 grams of vegetable glycerin, 12 grams of sweet almond oil, and 7 grams of Natures Garden’s Mango Sorbet Fragrance Oil.  Mix the ingredients together.

Then, add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.  Next, mix the ingredients together.  I find it easiest to use your hands to mix them together.  You need to mix the ingredients together until you have a crumbly dough consistency.

Make Your Own Bubble Bars Mix Your ColorantWe will be mixing three colors together to achieve a mango sorbet color.  First, add 6 grams of Nature’s Garden’s yelp yellow FUN Soap Colorant.  Then, add in 1 gram of jailhouse red FUN Soap Colorant.  Lastly, add 3 drops of the yellow oxide FUN Soap Colorant.  Mix them together to create an even color.  Finally, add the colorant to your bubble bar dough.  Again, I find it easiest to also mix the colorant into the dough with your hands.

Once you have all the ingredients mixed, you will leave it in the bowl and scoop right out of the bowl.  You want to push down and pack the dough into the bowl.  This will make it easier to scoop the dough.  As you can see it looks kind of like ice cream.

Now, once you have packed your dough down into your bowl, use your stainless steel ice cream scoop to begin scooping your ice cream bubble bars.  Scoop a bit of the dough into the mini ice cream scoop.  Then, use your hand to once again pack it in tightly.  This will ensure that the bubble bars hold their form when removing them from the scoop.

Finally, make sure your silicone mat or parchment paper is in an area where it will not be disturbed.  Then, press the button to release the scoop over a piece your silicone mat.  Repeat this process until you have used up all of your dough.  This recipe will create about 15 mini ice cream scoop bubble bars.  These ice cream bubble bars will need to setup before you can move them.  Leave them undisturbed for about three days before using them or packaging them.  The drying time can vary.  However, after a couple days you can check them to see if they have setup.

Bubble bars are not only fun to make, but they are fun to use!  Now that you have learned how to make your own bubble bars, it’s time to use them.  Simply take a couple of these scoops and crumble them up under your warm running bath water.  Then, watch the water bubble up!
