This amazing herb does wonderful things when introduced as a skin care ingredient. Whether it is used in flower form, powder form, or in the form of an essential oil, lavender can be a go to ingredient for aromatherapy needs, antiseptic benefits, or even relief from pain and discomfort due to skin irritations. The name lavender comes from its scientific name lavandula which is actually derived from the Latin word lavare which means to wash. In fact, lavender was often heavily used by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans for its antiseptic benefits for the skin, healing powers, and as an aromatic perfume.
