home party Home Party

A home party is a great way to increase the sales of your homemade products.  No matter what type of homemade product you make; whether it be candles, personal care items, or home scenting mediums, booking home parties will promote your products and your business.

This method of marketing works for several reasons.  By asking friends and family members to host a home party, you will have the opportunity to reach many potential clients.  When the hostess of the party asks friends and coworkers to attend their party, you have the perfect platform to sell your products.

What is a Home Party
Differing from the typical display stands, a home party allows you the opportunity for the attendees to actually try your product and ask questions.  If your homemade products focus on personal care items, a home party lets the attendees use the products and learn about all of their skin loving benefits.  If your focus is candles or home scenting mediums, you have the chance to have the items burning, or releasing the scent while you discuss the benefits of your products as opposed to store bought brands.  Regardless of what you are trying to market, a home party environment also allows a great opportunity to create specialized items; whether that is through scent or specific skin care needs.

Since the home party is set in someone’s home, it also promotes a comfortable, at home feel.  And, usually all of the attendees are already friends or acquaintances; so everyone feels at ease.  Due to this setting, you will find that the mood of the room will be fun and enjoyable.

As an ice breaker, or during the party, simple games can be played with small sample products given out to the winners.  This is also a great opportunity to get your brand out there again.  Everybody likes freebies, so planning games with your products as the prizes is a win/win situation for everyone involved.

Now, besides the direct sales that will occur at a home party, there are also sales leads.  Since you are marketing your product to the attendees, they are able to learn about all of the benefits your items carry.  They will be able to see, feel, smell, and hear why your products are superior.  The attendees will also know and understand your passion as to why your products are worth buying.  This opens the door to the possibility of attaining more home parties by allowing the opportunity for each one of the attendees to host their very own party.

A Token of Gratitude for the Hostess
Generally, the hostess of a home party always receives a gift (one of your products) just for hosting the party.  To sweeten the deal, many people choose to allow the hostess of the party to also receive 10% of the total sales from the party in free merchandise.  Not only does this help to encourage sales, but it also is a wonderful way to thank the hostess for allowing you into their home.  These are great incentives for other attendees to also want to host a home party for themselves.

What to Bring
Besides bringing your products, samples to try, product prizes, order forms, and writing utensils, make sure you remember business cards or flyers.  You want to make sure that each one of the attendees knows how to get a hold of you if they change their minds about hosting a party, what to add to their order, or need to reorder.  To help encourage future sales from these business cards or flyers, you may want to include a 5% discount on their next order.

Home Parties are a wonderful way to let everyone know how amazing your products are.  They will increase your sales, and make for potential repeat buyers.  If you are nervous about booking your first home party, ask a close relative to be the hostess.  This way you will be surrounded by loved ones and you will feel more comfortable.  This will also allow your family to help you master your marketing technique.

Just remember to make the home parties fun and memorable for everyone who attends.  Click Here for specifics on how Deborah Ward of Natures Garden used to conduct her Home Parties (when she used to sell ready made candles).
