Plumeria Candle Recipe: Weights and Amounts

3 ounces of the Joy Wax

30 grams of the Sunflower Wax

3 grams of the Plumeria Fragrance Oil

A tiny bit of the Burgundy Liquid Candle Dye

A Few Drops of the Purple Liquid Candle Dye

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Sanitize and Prepare Your Work Space

Before you begin creating your scented candles, you will want to organize and clean your work space. You can start by making sure you have enough space to work on your candle. Also, you will need to wipe down your work space. Next, you will want to gather your supplies and equipment. If any of your equipment is dirty, then make sure that you wash them before beginning your project. After everything has been cleaned and prepared, you are ready to move on to the next step.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Prepare Double Boiler

For this recipe, you are going to need a double boiler. If you know how to create a double boiler for candlemaking, then move on to your recipe. Otherwise, we can explain to you how it works. Since you will need to use an pouring pot, this will act as the inner portion of your double boiler. The pouring pot will hold your melting wax and will be placed inside the larger pot. The larger pot will hold the heated water. Now that the double boiler has been made, it will be placed on the stove top on medium heat to melt your wax.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Get the Sunflower Wax Ready

First, you will need to use the double boiler to melt the Sunflower Wax. So, weigh out 30 grams of this wax and add it to the double boiler. As the wax melts, you should be mixing every so often. While the double boiler will help prevent scorching, you should keep an eye on it and stir occasionally. After your wax has entirely melted, you will be ready to move on to the next steps for coloring and scenting.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Adding the Candle ColorantPlumeria Candle Recipe: Adding the Candle Colorant

Then, you will be adding some candle colorant to your melted Sunflower Wax. Since we are going to be adding less than a drop of the liquid dye, we will need a toothpick to add this amount. So, take the toothpick and dip it into the purple Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye to your Sunflower Wax. Then, you will need to swirl the dipped toothpick in the melted wax. Make sure that you mix this well to fully incorporate the color.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Scent the Sunflower WaxPlumeria Candle Recipe: Scent the Sunflower Wax

Next, you are going to want to scent your freshly melted wax.  We will be using Plumeria Fragrance Oil, which is perfect for this candle and has a gorgeous floral scent. This fragrance is a sweet, fruity floral aroma that is composed of tropical Plumeria flowers, fresh fruity top notes, on a lovely green bottom. So, take three grams of this delightful candle oil and add it to the melted Sunflower Oil.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Preparing Your Flower Parts

Now,  you are going to start preparing the wax for your flower candle embeds. This wax will need to be a thin layer, which we will use to cut out the flowers. One way you can create this is pouring a small amount into the bottom of a mold, like the square loaf mold. Alternatively, you can line a pan with wax paper and pour a thin layer of wax in this. Either way, you will need to remove the wax at a point where it has set up but still warm.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Cut Out Your Flower PartsPlumeria Candle Recipe: Cut Out Your Flower Parts

Once your thin layers of wax are set up, you will want to cut out your petals and circles. You can use a knife, toothpick, or anything that you have that is pointy and tough enough to cut out your shapes. Also, you will need to have two circles and about twelve or so petals. The exact number of petals you will need depends on their size. Since you will need a couple extra petals on top of the candle, you will want to make a few extra petals. So, the exact number that you need for your flowers isn’t extremely important yet.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Creating the Other Flower PartsPlumeria Candle Recipe: Creating the Other Flower Parts

Now, you are going to need to repeat these previous steps using two different colors. For one of the rounds you will use one drop of purple liquid candle colorant. After these pieces are created, you can move on to the last set of flower parts. The last round will be colored with a tiny amount of the burgundy candle colorant. Again, you can use a toothpick to add this color to your melted Sunflower Wax.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Prepare the Candle JarPlumeria Candle Recipe: Prepare the Candle Jar

Before we start adding the candle wax to the container, you will need to prepare the candle jar. So, heat up your hot glue gun to adhere two of the CD-12 candle wicks to the bottom of your jar. You will want to make sure that they are as straight and even as possible. Otherwise, your finished candle won’t burn evenly and could result in tunneling. Plus, awkwardly placed wicks could ruin the pretty design! So, it would be best to be careful on this step.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Prepare the Purple LayerPlumeria Candle Recipe: Prepare the Purple Layer

Now, we are ready to create the first layer for our scented candle. We will start by weighing 3 ounces of Joy Wax and melting it in the double boiler. Remember to mix the melting wax every so often. Once this is melted we are going to add in the colorant. Put two drops of the purple Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye into the melted wax and stir to fully incorporate the color.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Pouring the Bottom LayerPlumeria Candle Recipe: Pouring the Purple Layer

Next, you are going to scent and pour the purple layer. So, add 0.3 ounces of the Plumeria Fragrance Oil to the melted purple wax and mix to incorporate the scent. After, you are ready to pour this layer into the jar. Once this layer has been carefully poured into the jar you will need to straighten your wicks before the wax sets up. You may want to have something across the top of the jar to steady your wicks.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Adding the Wax Embed Flowers Plumeria Candle Recipe: Adding the Wax Embed Flowers

Now, you are ready to start setting up your embed flowers. So, you are going to begin adhering your flower parts to the jar. Start by pressing one of your circles to the inside of the glass jar. Make sure that you hold the wax circle in place by pressing gently until it has completely adhered. Then, adhere the petals of a different color around the circle in a similar fashion to the picture to the left. You will continue to evenly space out the rest of your flowers around the jar. We had six flowers total, but this amount may vary depending on the size of your petals.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Preparing the White LayerPlumeria Candle Recipe: Preparing the White Layer

Next, you are going to create the white layer for behind your wax flower embeds. So, weigh out 11 ounces of Joy Wax and add it to the apothecary jar. You will need to melt the wax using the double boiler method with occasional mixing. After, you will need to add 1.1 ounces of the Plumeria Fragrance Oil. Before you go to pour in this layer you need to measure the temperature. Otherwise, you could possibly melt and mess up your wax flower embeds! Use a thermometer to determine when your wax has dropped to about 150 F, which is a safe temperature range to pour your white layer. Once it reaches this temperature you can pour in this layer.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Allow the White Layer to Set UpPlumeria Candle Recipe: Allow the White Layer to Set Up

Now that you poured in the white layer into the base of your candle, your creation is nearly complete! Just make sure that both of your wicks are centered. Make sure that you center your wicks before this white layer completely sets up. Then, you just need to wait for this top layer to harden and set up. Once your white layer has set up you can move on to creating the whipped topping.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Prepare the Whipped WaxPlumeria Candle Recipe: Prepare the Whipped Wax

Next, we are going to create the whipped wax topping for this candle. So, weigh out 8 ounces of Joy Wax and put it into the apothecary pot. After the wax has completely melted, you can add 0.8 ounces of the Plumeria Fragrance Oil. After, let your wax begin to set up. Before it completely sets up, you will need to whip the wax. Once the wax is well whipped and before it completely sets up, you can put the wax on top of the base of your candle.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Decorating the Top of the CandlePlumeria Candle Recipe: Decorating the Top of the Candle

Immediately after adding your whipped wax you will want to start adding your extra petals to the top of your candle. This will make sure that your petals stick to the candle and won’t fall off. So, start taking your differently colored petals and placing them on top of the candle. Make sure that you press them lightly into the wax, so they are able to stay in place. Once all your petals have been placed, use a pencil to curl your two candle wicks.

Plumeria Candle Recipe: Letting Your Candles Set UpPlumeria Candle Recipe: Letting Your Candles Set Up

Finally, your candles are complete! But, you are going to want to wait a day or two for your candle to cure before using your candle. While it can be tempting to use your candle early, it will be worth the wait and work so much better after letting it cure! Allowing your candle to cure for 24-48 hours will give the wax time to absorb the scent and provide a better scent throw.

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb RecipeLavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe

It’s spring time! Well, kind of spring time. We had a couple of nice, warm days here in Ohio. What makes you think of spring? Some of our thoughts turn to spring planting. Others think of spring clothes or just looking forward to the bright colors of Mother Nature. I look forward to warmer weather, sunny days and the fresh smells from flowers and newly cut grass. However, at Nature’s Garden, our creative team starts to think of spring recipes and our Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe is a perfect example. With its soft pastel colors and fresh, crisp fragrance, this bath bomb will make you think and smell spring immediately!

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: The Ingredients

First off, before we get started, let’s talk about some of the ingredients we are using in this recipe. Most of your bath bombs use only two basic “bath bomb” ingredients. Baking Soda, Citric Acid. However, we added an extra ingredient into this recipe, Sodium Cocoyl Isethinate, or SCI. SCI is a gentle sufecant derived from coconut and it is used in a variety of cosmetic recipes. Sodium Cocoyl Isethioniate (SCI) gives your soaps, shampoo, bath bombs and bubble bars their bubble action. Most of all, bath bombs need some skin-nourishing oil added in! We chose Jojoba Oil. This oil has remarkable absorption and moisturizing qualities. This bath bomb is going to leave your skin feeling soft and silky after a nice, long soak in the tub!

Our fragrance oil inspiration is our Lavender Mint WOW.  Anybody in the bath and body business will know that lavender is a popular herb known for the soothing and calming effects it can have. Lavender, which is a very down to earth, natural fragrance, however, it can be a bit overwhelming by itself. With a touch of mint added in you have a wonderfully balanced fragrance that is bright yet subtle, crisp yet soft. This bath bomb is a perfect showcase for this fragrance oil. Lavender Mint WOW is an wonderful verdant scent of earthy lavender flowers and fresh peppermint and spearmint leaves! With soft colors of violet, green and white, this pretty, little bath bomb will be a perfect addition to your spring or summer bath and body line!

  • 18 grams Jojoba Oil
  • 16 grams Lavender Mint WOW Fragrance Oil
  • 7 grams Ultramarine Violet FUN Soap Colorant
  • 12 grams Kelly Green FUN Soap Colorant

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Prepare Your Work Space and Equipment

Before you begin creating you want to make sure your work area and all the equipment you are using is clean. This will prevent any unwanted particles or bacteria from getting into your bath bombs. Also, make sure you have you have enough room to work in. We highly recommend wearing an apron to protect your clothing and gloves, glasses, and a mask. In addition, you will want to have your Witch Hazel bottles in a spray bottle. Witch Hazel is used to help bind ingredients with little to no action so it’s important to have that handy and ready to go. Water will not be helpful in this recipe and as a side note, this recipe is best prepared in a non-humid climate. Like I stated above, bath bombs are activated by water and simple moisture in the air can slightly activate these guys.

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Preparing the Dry IngredientsLavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Preparing the Dry Ingredients

Are you ready to get started?  So, in the first bowl is going to be your dry ingredients. Take your scale, making sure it is set to grams, and weigh out 166 grams Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, 512 grams Citric Acid, and 1,120 grams of Baking Soda. Then using your gloved hands, mix the ingredients together, breaking up any clumps as you go. Once these are mixed well, set this bowl aside.

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Preparing the Wet IngredientsLavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Preparing the Wet Ingredients

Next, you can combine the wet ingredients together. So, in a separate bowl, with your scale still set to grams, weigh out 18 grams of Jojoba oil and the 16 grams of Lavender Mint Wow Fragrance Oil. Mix this together well using your mixing spoon or even a whisk.

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Mixing the Wet and Dry IngredientsLavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Mixing the Wet and Dry Ingredients

Next, we can combine our wet and dry ingredients together. Slowly add the oils to your dry. For the record, if you happen to get a mild reaction when you add the wet to the dry, don’t panic! It will calm down once you get more dry mixed in. Finally, use your gloved hands to mix the ingredients together. You want to be sure the oils are evenly dispersed throughout the mixture. This bowl can be set aside until later.

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Separating the DoughLavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Separating the Dough

Now that your base mixture is combined, you can separate the dough so it can be colored. You are going to separate the bath bomb dough into 3 equal portions and there is no distinct weight for each portion so go ahead and eyeball it. Two bowls will be colored with our FUN Soap Colorants and one bowl will remain un-colored.

Now we can add our colorant! Tare out your scale and to the first bowl, add in 9 grams of Ultramarine Violet FUN Soap Colorant. Then using your gloved hands you will mix the color fully and evenly into your dough until you have achieved a nice, pale violet color. You can set this portion aside for the moment.

Next, let’s mix the green! Tare out your scale and in your second bowl add 12 grams of Kelly Green FUN Soap colorant. Again, using gloved hands, mix the green colorant in thoroughly and evenly until you have a nice, pale shade of green. Now you can set this bowl aside.

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Molding the Bath Bombs

There are many types and shapes of bath bomb molds out there that can be used.  Virtually anything can be used as a bath bomb mold! Silicone molds, soap molds, shallow jars or deep lids.  Shop around your local craft store or even look around your kitchen and let your imagination take over! You can make all shapes and sizes of bath treats, however, please keep in mind that you need the mold to have the ability to release easily. With this recipe, we kept it easy and chose a simple, round plastic fillable Christmas ornament that you can find in any craft store.

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Starting With Your First ColorLavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Starting With Your First Color

Next you can start putting these bath bombs together! You may start with any color you wish, however we started with the green dough. Plus you will be using the Witch Hazel now.  Please note, that it is important to not spray the dough with too much of the Witch Hazel. Over spraying can cause the bath bomb ingredients to activate and as a result your bath bomb will not stay together. Now go ahead and spritz your dough with the witch hazel. Using your hands, give it a nice mix. You are looking for the consistency of damp sand. Take one half of the mold. Next, you will take a small amount of dough and press it firmly into the ornament half.

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Adding on the Second Layer of ColorLavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Adding on the Second Layer of Color

Next, we can move onto the second color. Again, chose any color you wish. We went with white. Give the mix a spritz of Witch Hazel and mix it well making sure it is the right consistency. Next, take a small amount and press it firmly on top of the first layer.

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Adding on the Third Layer of ColorLavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Adding on the Third Layer of Color

Next, you are going to spritz your third layer of dough with Witch Hazel so give it a quick mix, making sure it looks like damp sand.  Take a small amount. Add it to the second layer. Fill to the top as full as you can get it without it overflowing. Make sure to press the dough firmly down.

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Preparing the Second Half of the Mold

Now we are going to work on the second half of the mold. So, repeat the process of layering as we did in the first half.  With your first color, take a small amount and press it firmly into other half of the mold.

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Adding the Second Layer of Color

Move on to the second layer by taking a small bit of dough and pressing it firmly onto the first layer.

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Adding the Third Layer of ColorLavender Mint Bath Bomb Recipe: Adding the Third Layer of Color

Finally, you are going to finish off the second half of the mold with your third layer of color. So, pull off a small amount of dough and push it firmly on top of the previous layer. Next you will be putting the two halves together. So first, give each half of the mold a light spray of Witch Hazel then press the two halves together tightly. Lastly, you will want to place the bath bombs in an area where they will not be disturbed or roll around and let them rest for at least 24 hours. In addition, make sure that the bombs are in a humid-free zone.  Now you can continue building the remaining molds with the same layering process. This recipe should allow for six medium sized bath bombs.

See how easy making bath bombs can be? The ingredients are simple and they can be found in your local grocery store! Plus, the kids can even help with making them since there are no hazardous materials used! With a little creativity and inspiration, the possibilities are endless!  We hope you enjoyed this newest edition to our bath bomb recipe collection. We are sure you will love the scented balance of the soft, earthy lavender and the bright, crisp scent of mint combined. These bath bombs will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed. Plus, the scent of Lavender Mint WOW will leave your bathroom smelling like a spa!

Lavender Mint Bath Bomb: Dos and Don’ts of Bath Bombs

In conclusion, I have included  a tiny list of reminders on how to treat your bath bombs after they are made!

Do remember to keep them out of the humidity! The littlest bit of moisture in the air can cause your bath bombs to go off into a fizzy display! Not good from a selling standpoint! Consider airtight containers or glass jars with lids as a display option. Furthermore, bath bombs can shrink wrapped or even placed in cellophane bags and tied tightly with a pretty ribbon or twist tie.  You will want to wrap them right away.

Do use your bath bombs withing a few months of making or receiving them. The fresher the bath bomb the better the bubble and fizz!

Do let your bombs completely set up. Do not attempt to take them out of their molds yet! Your bombs should come out of the mold easily. Simply use the tabs at the top of the mold to pull the two sides apart being careful in removing them.

Don’t use craft glitter in any of your bath bomb creations. Always use a cosmetic grade glitter.

www.naturesgardencandles.com/kaolin-clay-powder-cosmetics.htmlWhat is Kaolin Clay Used For?

Kaolin Clay powder is one of Nature’s Garden most popular cosmetic additives we offer.  It can be utilized in a variety of different ways. What is kaolin clay used for? Kaolin Clay, also called China Clay, is a white clay that is found in the soils of hot, moist climates. This clay is perfect for those with sensitive skin or those who are prone to acne breakouts. Kaolin can be used to create mineral makeup such as foundation, eye shadow, and blush. China Clay is also a wonderful thickening agent that is a perfect ingredient for bath bombs. Kaolin Clay is a perfect addition to sugar scrubs, salt scrubs and facial masks. Like most clays, Kaolin helps cleanse the skin and remove toxins. If you are creating soap, this clay is useful in being a fragrance fixative.

Below, we will talk about the many ways you can utilize Kaolin Clay powder in many creations. We will also share some popular recipes that use kaolin clay. You may find that if you are having trouble with a recipe you are using, or just wanting to find a new ingredient to enhance an old recipe, give the following a read. You might just find what you have been looking for!

What is Kaolin Clay Used For: Using Kaolin Clay for Acne

Many have found that kaolin clay is wonderful for acne and those who have sensitive skin. It is the mildest of clays and is perfect for soaking up oil. Kaolin Clay powder can be used on various types of skin conditions. Whether its rashes or inflammation from break-outs, Kaolin is very good at soothing irritated skin.

What is Kaolin Clay Used For: Using Kaolin Clay for Soaps

Kaolin is rich in potassium, titanium and silicon. These elements help to produce the formation of collagen. When wet, Kaolin is smooth, silky and creamy which in turn, will give your soap the same feeling. Kaolin is also helpful in retaining moisture in the body, soaks up dirt and toxins. Your skin will feel deeply cleansed without that tight, dry feeling you can get from regular soap.

We said in the above paragraph that there are a few good reasons to use Kaolin Clay in any type of soap recipe. It can be used as a fragrance fixative. This may help during any cold or hot process soaping as creating soap from scratch can be rough on fragrance oils. Another good reason for using Kaolin Clay is that when you create a paste with it, this will help you to create swirls in melt and pour soap, adding some decorative flair to your soap creations. It is also a good natural colorant to help give some white color to your soap if you wish.

14 Ways To Use Arrowroot Powder14 Ways To Use Arrowroot Powder

Arrowroot Powder is one of the most versatile products in the market today. It can be used in anything from cooking to all types of bath products, such as, soap, bath bombs, cosmetics, deodorants, lotions and even in cleaning products.  The list of possibilities are endless. Below, we have 14 ways to use arrowroot powder. We hope you are able to be inspired to create some fun, and even some natural products to add to you line of products or even for just your personal use. Before we get started though, let’s talk a little about where Arrowroot Powder comes from and what exactly Arrowroot is.

14 Ways to Use Arrowroot Powder: How It's Made14 Ways to Use Arrowroot Powder: How It’s Made

Maranta arundinacea, or more commonly known as arrowroot, dates back to more than 7,000 years ago,  when this powder was first discovered as being used in food by the Caribbean Arawak people. This plant is native to tropical areas such as, western Brazil and Guyana. However, this multi functional root is cultivated in such countries such as, Australia, South Africa and the West Indies.

The powder itself comes from the rhizomes, or the roots, of the plant. The roots are first washed, and then cleaned of the paper-like scales. The scales must be carefully removed before extracting the starch because they impart a disagreeable flavor. Once the scales are completely removed, the roots are washed again, drained and reduced to a pulp by beating them in mortars or grinding them with a wheel rasp. The milky liquid that is obtained is then passed through a coarse cloth. The pure starch, which is insoluble, is allowed to settle at the bottom. The wet starch is then dried in the sun or in a drying house. The result is a starchy powder, ready to be packed in airtight containers and shipped.

Best Wine Fragrance OilsBest Wine Fragrance Oils

Up until the last 20 years, wine was not very popular. Only in recent years has a “wine-craze” taken over in society. Availability and affordability are the number one reasons why this alcoholic beverage has taken a close second to the sale and production of beer. Nature’s Garden is totally hip to the popularity of “vino”. We have listed below, our best wine fragrance oils.  Some of our fragrances have recipes that incorporate actual wine and of course the fragrance itself to create an amazing bath and body product. How about creating a gift basket of lotion, soap and/or a body scrub all using wine for clients or family members who are wine lovers?  So, go ahead and raise your glass to learning about all our wine-inspired fragrances and their recipes! Cheers!

Did you know? Wine has been around for centuries! Dating back as far as 4100 B.C. the world’s oldest winery was discovered in Armenia. There are basically 5 types of wine; Red, White, Rose, Fruit and Mead (which is a honey wine). These types of wine are based on the grapes that were used to create. Each wine is named after the type of grape that was used to create it.

Best Wine Fragrance Oils: Burgundy Rose

Our first wine fragrance is Burgundy Rose. With this fragrance oil by Natures Garden, romanticism, luxury, and culture combine to produce this luxurious fragrance blend. Sensual burgundy rose with fresh white floral nuances, blend with exquisite burgundy wine, and warmed by precious musk and apple wood. Finally, this rose fragrance can withstand the saponification process without losing its authenticity.

This fragrance did well in our cold process soap testing. There was no ricing, separating or discoloring. There was some accelerating so soaping at room temperature is strongly suggested. The scent held up nice and strong throughout its cure. Burgundy Rose also did well with candles and in bath and body products.

We have a wonderful recipe that uses this romantic fragrance oil. Our Burgundy Rose Bath Milk Soak recipe incorporates powdered goat’s milk. Oat Straw powder with an added touch of rose petals to help boost the floral fragrance. Oat Straw is know for it’s skin rejuvenating and softening properties so it is a perfect addition to this recipe.

Best Wine Fragrances: Cabernet Sauvignon Fragrance OilBest Wine Fragrance Oils: Cabernet Sauvignon Fragrance Oil

Cabernet Sauvignon is a very popular seller here at Nature’s Garden. Our fragrance oil is the essence of a sweet aroma of wild grapes enhanced with hints of strawberries and sweet sugary notes with a light alcoholic background. A wonderful aroma of red sweet Cabernet wine.

This fragrance oil had a decent test run in cold process soap. There was no ricing or accelerating, however, we did experience separating when we placed the batter in the mold. It did combine back together as it solidified. Due to the fact that this fragrance oil has a high vanillin content. We suggest using our Vanilla White color stabilizer to help prevent this. This fragrance oil did well in other bath and body products and in all our candle wax testing.

Do you know? The wine itself is a bold and assertive full bodied wine, best paired with any type of meat dish, barring the spicy ones. Grilled meats and vegetables, hearty stews and meaty types of fish, such as Ahi Tuna or Swordfish, go well with this wine.

Best Wine Fragrances: Christmas Cabernet Fragrance OilBest Wine Fragrance Oils: Christmas Cabernet Fragrance Oil

This fragrance oil was designed to capture not just the wine itself, but also the essence of the Christmas season. Cabernet has a classically deep, red color and displays a lovely bouquet of berries and oak. A full-bodied wine with good varietal character and power, it offers rich cherry flavors with excellent balance and a long finish. We have combined this lovely aroma with hints of Christmas time, and created our version of Christmas Cabernet.

Christmas Cabernet did very well in our cold process soap testing. There was no ricing, separating or accelerating. This fragrance oil has a slight vanillin content. It caused our soap to discolor to an olive/tan color. Vanilla White Color Stabilizer would be helpful in preventing discoloring.

We liked this scent so much that we created a beautiful Wine Sugar Scrub recipe that not only has Christmas Cabernet as the star fragrance, but we also used a splash of real wine to help enhance the skin loving qualities of this scrub. This recipe is chock full of moisturizing components such as, cocoa and shea butter, olive oil, grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil and Vitamin E. That’s just the beginning! Your skin will be soft, supple and moisturized, not to mention smelling sweet and yummy!

Do you know? Cabernet is a type of grape that is used in red wine making. The addition of Sauvignon came from an accidental cross-breeding of the wine grapes; Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon was born!

Best Wine Fragrances: Merlot Fragrance OilBest Wine Fragrance Oils: Merlot Fragrance Oil

This fragrance oil by Natures Garden has velvety nuances of plums, apples, red raspberries and strawberries which  combine with a light alcoholic and spicy background.

Merlot did wonderful in our cold process soap testing! A soaper’s dream come true! No ricing, separating, or accelerating and no discoloring! The fragrance stayed strong and true throughout it’s cure.

Best Wine Fragrances: Merlot Fragrance OilThis fragrance oil is perfect in our Wine Cold Process soap recipe! This soap has skin loving oils such as, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Fractionated Coconut Oil and Sunflower Oil. We also incorporated wine in the recipe to be used as part of the water portion! A perfect addition for a true wine inspired soap!

Do you know?  Wine (and grape juice) contain a high content of Resveratrol? Resveratrol is a natural polyphenol found in the skin of red grapes that has excellent antioxidant qualities. When used in cosmetics, this micronutrient can help protect the skin from UV damage, and reduces the occurrence of age spots. Resveratrol also has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal properties, and is used in products that fight acne. This amazing product is used in anti-aging, anti-wrinkle cosmetic products, and provides anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce swelling.

Best Wine Fragrances: NG Napa Valley Harvest Fragrance OilBest Wine Fragrance Oils: NG Nappa Valley Harvest Fragrance Oil

NG Nappa Valley oil by Natures Garden is a beautiful duplication of the Yankee candle scent.  This fragrance is reminiscent of the cultural heritage surrounding Napa Valley, and the effervescence of rich, aged wine. The scent is a complex blend of aged wine, lilac, vanilla, violets, and lilies, with a light musky base note. A definite complex fragrance that is very pleasing to the nose!

NG Nappa Valley Harvest is a winner when it came to our cold process soap testing! There was no ricing, separating, or acceleration. It did discolor to a light butter color so you may chose to use our Vanilla White Color Stabilizer to help prevent this. This fragrance also did very well in our bath and body product testing and in our candle wax testing!

Do you know? September through November is when the actual Napa Valley Harvest season is. Harvest season is a busy, bustling time with the season’s harvest being brought in and new batches of wine that are being made. Visitors not only get to sample the varieties of the wines that are made, but you can also participate in the picking and the smashing of the grapes!

Best Wine Fragrances: Shiraz Fragrance OilBest Wine Fragrance Oils: Shiraz Fragrance Oil

The pronunciation of Shiraz is taken from the original name “Syrah” but for one reason or another, Australians adopted the well known term Shiraz.  The aromas and flavors of Shiraz vary with wine style and region, but are usually blackberry, plums, and pepper in varying degrees dependent on growing conditions.  Natures Garden’s Shiraz fragrance is reminiscent of this prestigious wine.

Shiraz Fragrance Oil did beautifully in our cold process testing. With no accelerating, ricing, seperating or discoloring, it is another soaper’s dream! The scent stayed true and strong througout it’s cure time. Shiraz also did well in all our candle waxes and in bath and body products. With a fragrance oil that does so well, we had to create a recipe with it!

Best Wine Fragrances: Shiraz Fragrance OilOur Wine Lotion recipe is loaded with some amazing skin loving ingredients. Jojoba oil, Cocoa Butter, and Vitamin E to name just a few. Of course we did include our Reservatrol Powder which you know is a wonderful for aging skin!

Best Wine Fragrance Oils: Tuscan Wine Fragrance Oil

If you’ve ever dined at an Italian restaurant and drank wine from a flask that was wrapped in straw, you’ve enjoyed Tuscany Chianti wine.  Natures Garden’s Tuscan Wine fragrance is a true luxury fragrance beginning with top notes of black grapes, strawberry, and red wine; followed by middle notes of white flowers and sweet cinnamon; and sits on dry wood notes.

Tuscan Wine did beautifully with cold process soap testing. It had no ricing, separating or accelerating. It did discolor to an olive brown, so Vanillin White Color Stabilizer may be used to help prevent this. The scent retention during and after its cure time was amazing and strong!

Do you know? The straw wrapped wine bottle of Chianti is called a “Fiasco” which in Italian means: bottle or flask.

White Zinfandel Wine Fragrance OilBest Wine Fragrance Oils: White Zinfandel Fragrance Oil

This fragrance oil by Natures Garden has the aroma of fruity dry pink wine with undertones of red raspberries, currents, strawberries and rose petals with a light alcoholic background. Zinfandel is the type of grape that is used to make this incredibly popular wine. The “White” part is actually a method of making the wine itself, hence the name White Zinfandel.

White Zinfandel tested positive in cold process soap making. With no acceleration, ricing or separation, it is a good soap to play with! No discoloring either which makes this fragrance oil perfect! The scent retention in all bath and body products, candle waxes and even in soaping stayed very strong and true with no fading!

Best Wine Fragrances: White Zinfandel Fragrance OilNature’s Garden created this fun Wine Gel Wax candle recipe using our popular White Zinfandel. This candle is incredibly easy to make using wine glasses as your container and our red Spectrum candle dye. You will have some fun candles to display for any kind of celebration in no time!

Do you know? Back in 1975, Sutter Home’s White Zinfandel experienced a failure which resulted in the White Zinfandel as we know it today? The original wine had a “stuck fermentation” which is a problem that occurs when the yeast in the wine dies out before consuming all the sugar. This accidental juice was set aside and several weeks later, the winemaker tasted it, preferring the result, which was sweet and pink. It was originally called Cabernet Blanc, but eventually the name White Zinfandel was adopted.

Best Wine Fragrance Oils: Muscadine Fragrance Oil

Muscadine is a fragrance oil by Natures Garden that is rich in a  wonderful aroma of fresh grapes, blackberries, and woodsy base notes. Much like the wine itself.

This fragrance oil did well in our cold process soap processing. There was no accelerating, separating, or ricing. Despite the fact that there is zero vanillin in the oil, it will discolor to a dark cream. Vanilla White Color stabilizer will not prevent this from happening. Muscadine also did well in candles and in bath and body products for scent retention.

Muscadine grapes are considered America’s “first grape”. They are commonly grown in the hotter, dryer regions of the States. The resulting wine from muscadine grapes result in a sweet, red wine mostly for the reason that winemakers may add sugar to the wine. This wine is known to have a taste of ripe banana, apple, lime peel plus a scent of rubber cement. Wait! What? Rubber Cement? Well, they do say Muscadine wine is an acquired taste so there you go!
