Hi! I’m Claire, of Simple Sun Candles.
One of my favorite things is the relaxing ambiance a few lit candles in the evening create. Also, the warm and welcoming scent of a candle burning really means ‘home’ and also ‘comfort’ to me. Simple Sun Candles was started with the intent of offering eco-friendly, natural soy candles in a range of fragrances, with a simple and classic design. As someone who delights in the warm, welcoming glow and fragrance of a candle, I was looking for something that would easily blend in to any décor but also featured pleasing scents. However, I could not find exactly what I wanted in stores. After reading quite a bit about candle-making, I decided to begin making my own. I quickly fell in love with the relaxing melting, pouring and cooling process (and not to mention, how amazing my home smells). The name, Simple Sun Candles stems from my desire to keep things simple in life, cutting back on clutter, stress, and being more cognizant of the environment, which is reflected in my use of 100% soy wax, no dyes, and phthalate-free fragrance oils of the highest quality (from Nature’s Garden, of course).
All of my candles are hand-poured with care, at the optimal temperature for the ideal scent throw (after lots of research, and trial-and error!). I selected cotton wicks for my candles for a clean burn, and offer single-, two- and three-wick candles. I enjoy experimenting with new fragrances and products, such as adding soy wax melts to my shop. I am interested in trying out palm wax and pillar molds soon, and possibly dyes and layered candles for holidays.
This hobby/small-business venture has really been a rewarding experience. Having only opened my on-line shop in October 2012, I have already been able to contribute to community fundraisers and love hearing feedback from happy customers. I look forward to many years of creating candles and experimenting with different designs, fragrances, and methods.
In the picture on this blog, I used Natures Garden’s Caribbean Fragrance Oil, Golden Foods 464 Soy Wax, and HTP-73 Wicks (all from Natures Garden).
