How to Treat Your Feet for Summer

citruspeelkit

The perfect kit for anyone who is seeking perfect summertime feet. This kit makes a great gift, but it is also an awesome treat to pamper yourself with.

How to Treat Your Feet for Summer

The one thing that gets me super excited about summer is “flip flop season.”  Living in the great state of Ohio, my flip flops really only get to be show cased for about 3 months.  I am not a huge shoe person, but when it comes to flip flops I have acquired what some would say is an extreme amount.

Is this a problem?  I don’t think so, in my mind I love having flip flops in every color to match my outfits and even some of my flip flops were purchased to match my moods.  They just have the capability to make me happy.  I even have a “flippity flop song” that I sing when I am trying to find a match.  My girls love to chime in too.  It looks like they may be inheriting my passion for flip flops.

When it comes to avid wearers of flip flops, like me, one thing that you have to take seriously is pampering of your feet.  Because wearing flip flops leaves little to the imagination for feet, there is a ton of skin exposed.  But, this is only a problem if you do take the proper precautions.

The skin of the feet actually relies on sweat glands to moisturize itself.  It is not like the skin on the rest of the body that contains oil glands to produce soft and supple skin.  Feet skin is naturally dry.  This however, is only a problem if you do not moisturize your feet regularly, or in some cases have a medical condition.

There are a few steps that you can take to help prevent dry and cracking feet.  They are
Moisturizing
Using a mild bar of soap when bathing
Drinking lots of water

I personally like to lotion after I shower, but occasionally I do take that special step in truly pampering my feet.  I swear by this recipe and love how my feet feel after I am done too.  For any of my true avid flip flop lovers out there, this is a remarkable way treat your feet, especially since they work so hard for you!

This recipe is super easy to make and since it calls for Dead Sea Salt, you now have the added bonus of using an ingredient that naturally draws impurities and toxins from your skin.  Plus, since it is Dead Sea salt (which exfoliates the skin), rubbing this mixture all over your feet will help to remove dead skin cells.

Citrus Peel Salt Scrub Recipe

Here are the ingredients:

1 cup finely ground dead sea salt
1/2 cup fractionated coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil
1 teaspoon lemon peel powder
1 teaspoon orange peel powder
20 drops Ruby red grapefruit fragrance oil

Here are the steps:

Clean & Sanitize your work area and all of your packaging materials. It is suggested that you wear gloves, protective clothing, and a hair net while preparing this recipe.

Step 1: Mix 1 cup fine dead sea salt, 1/2 cup fractionated coconut oil, 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil, 1 teaspoon lemon peel powder, and 1 teaspoon orange peel powder.

Step 2: Add 20 drops of Ruby Red Grapefruit Fragrance Oil and mix.

Step 3: Spoon contents into jars and lid.

Your Citrus Peel Salt Scrub is now ready for use.  Not only will your feet look and feel great, they will also smell wonderful too.

Fragrance & Fun for Everyone

Bath Products Made with Goat’s Milk

fragrance oilsWhat’s your name & Your Company Name:  Jerry McKay, Keldora’s Kreations

Started in 2001 by my late wife, Linda Kelly, Keldora’s Goat Milk Soap has been sold in farmer’s markets and various retailers throughout the Canadian Maritimes. She was a very crafty person and was always looking for new projects to try. One year, we had an abundant supply of goat’s milk, so after researching, she decided to try making soap. The first time she took the soap to the Tatamagouche Farmer’s Market with her crafts, she sold six out of nine bars and became very excited. Customers began asking for more scents and colors, so she expanded her selection, which included many fragrance oils from Nature’s Garden. Today, there are over 125 scents used for our product. She did start making other things with the goat’s milk, including shampoos, lotions, and candles, but as the years passed, she began to tire easy and was not able to keep up with the demand. Linda survived her first battle with cancer in 2005 but lost the fight when cancer was found again in 2013.

Since March, with the help of my daughter, Joyce and, Linda’s friend, Mary Ellen, the soap making has continued and customers have shown their loyalty with their support. Currently, we are looking to add more retailers to our wholesale list, and will be adding some of the previous products that were made by Linda back on our inventory list.

Many people have asked us how we came up with the name “Keldora”. Our children actually made the word out of our full names. Sitting together at the table, which was a feat in and of itself, they crossed out all the letters that were the same and were left with “Kel” from Kelly, “dor” from my first name Theodore, and “a” from Linda. The name was originally used for our petting farm, but continues as our soap business.

This year has started out rough for our family but we will keep working hard to make Keldora’s Kreations a success, worthy of Linda’s memory.

Most of our best selling bars are made with fragrance oils from Nature’s Garden. Here are: Spiritual Awakening, Indian Sandalwood, Bermuda Triangle, Tibetian Amber, Cranberry Orange, and Cool Clean Cotton.

fragrance oils1. What’s your name & Your Company Name:  My name is Amelia Ruth Thompson, owner & founder of Radical Works.

2. Why did you decide to go into business? What was your motivation? How long have you been in business?  I’ve been creating things literally my entire life. Over time, the things I would create would take up space; more space than I actually had. When in Spring 2009, a friend suggested, “Why don’t you sell things on Etsy?” So my original idea was simply to clear out space. I opened a shop, but nothing sold. In 2010, the same friend invited me to share a table with her at Louisianime II. There, I sold many of my crafts, with a lady suggesting I open a business to sell items all the time. So the following week, I opened a new shop, Radical Works. From there, I’ve added many difference types of products; as Radical Works is not limited to a single category. Having a shop has not only helped me maintain my crafts and organization, but it has also opened up my mind to many different types of crafts. I always try to include different types within other items.

3. What products do you make and sell?  Starting off, I had Radical Bears (teddy bears), magnets, and some leather-working items. In the more recent inventory, I have Radical Bears, hats, scarves, gloves, along with various bath products. This includes soap, bath salts, and perfumes. I’ve also made and sold bath bombs & lotions at a craft show.

4. What are your business goals?  I try to set short term goals for myself, as the long term goals can quickly change. But the main goal for my business is freedom through expression. Too many times I’ve been the “odd ball out” in most cases. With my business, it gives me the avenue and method to express myself to others, as well as have others find themselves within my products. It has always been a message in my business: “I never make anything I would like myself”.

5. What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  The main products I purchase from the awesome Natures Garden are their bases as well as their fragrances. The fragrances are what keep me coming back, and I love having the fragranced item with the purchases as well. I have a vase for the fragranced roses I’ve received over time.

1.What’s your name & Your Company Name?
Liz Flugel, Liz’s Country Collectibles

2. Why did you decide to go into business? What was your motivation? How long have you been in business?
I have always been a *crafty* person so this gave me a way to channel my energies and ideas into a business, especially after people kept complementing me on my items, asking me if they could buy my items and telling me I should go into business for myself. I have had a Washington state business license for approximately 20 years.

3. What products do you make and sell?
I do a wide variety of items from soaps, lotions, bath salts, bath fizzies and soy wax candles & tarts to Red Hat bears, Victorian bears and home décor that includes decorated wreaths, swags, window boxes, bird cages and assorted silk floral arrangements. During the last year I also added a bakery line of candles & soaps that includes soy wax cobblers, pies, muffins & cinnamon rolls as well as soap cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, carrot cakes, brownies & donuts.

4. What are your business goals?
To continue to make quality products at a reasonable price and to keep promoting my business so it reaches more customers. I have currently sold items to not only the U.S. and Canada but also to the U.K. and Greece.

5. What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?
I use a variety of your fragrance & essential oils and herbs. I was particularly THRILLED when I found your Huckleberry Harvest and Spiced Cranberry after the suppliers I used to purchase comparable scents to these two went out of business since these are two of my top selling fragrances. And I love, love, LOVE your prices because they are very reasonable and allow me to keep my prices down which is very important in today’s economy.
