Fragrance Oils for Warmers Using Scents in Liquid Potpourri

One way to use fragrance oils in warmers if to create a liquid potpourri. This uses a fragrance oil and a carrier oil to create a liquid that is perfect for room scenting. While you may be tempted to simply add the fragrance oil of your choice to the warmer directly, this will not work out as you think. The concentration of our fragrance oils is high, so you need to combine our scents with carrier oils, such as coconut oil, to achieve the scent you will want. So, you would need to create a 50/50 mixture that is half a carrier oil and half a fragrance oil. Alternatively, you can dilute the fragrance oils with DPG, again doing a 50/50 mix. We have a few recipes available that will show you how to create scents for your warmer. If you are interested, then check out the Spicy Liquid Potpourri Recipe or the Vanilla Liquid Potpourri Recipe for more details.

Fragrance Oils for Warmers Using Scents in Wax

Another great way to incorporate fragrances into your warmers is to add them to wax. Not only does wax hold the scent well, but it is easy to create fun wax melts that look cute! For example, you can create the Cupcake Wax Tarts Recipe that makes the wax tart look just like a little cupcake! Alternatively, you can create a recipe like the Pumpkin Delight Clamshell Tarts Recipe that has layers of wax in a clamshell container.  Finally, you can use granulated wax, like in our Autumn Leaves Potpourri Recipe, to create a scoopable wax for your oil burner.

Fragrance Oils for Warmers Unique Recipes for Warmers

Plus, there are even more great ways to use fragrance oils for warmers. One such recipe is the Shimmering Gel Potpourri Recipe. This recipe uses both an oil and wax to create a gel that is perfect for carrying the fragrance oil. So, there are different kinds of ideas out for adding fragrances to warmers.

This kit provides you with the ingredients and guides you with instructions to successfully create your own room scents. Not only is does this kit make it easier to create wax melts, but the directions provided in the kit are short and easy to follow. Plus, after this project, you will be better prepared to make other creations in the future, such as making more wax melts or moving on to making candles. This kit provides you with two scents, Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil and Vanilla Bean Fragrance Oil, and two liquid candle dyes, red and yellow. Also, the kit provides you with enough ingredients to create four clamshells of wax tarts. Since each clamshell container contains six wax melts, you will have twenty individual wax melts for you to use!

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Ingredients Needed from Natures Garden

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Ingredients Needed from Natures GardenIngredients Included in the kit
Pillar of Bliss Wax (1 pound)
Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil (1 ounce)
Vanilla Bean Fragrance Oil (1 ounce)
Red Liquid Candle Dye (1 vial)
Yellow Liquid Candle Dye (1 vial)
Clamshell Containers (4)
Disposable Pipettes (2)
Step-by-step Instructions (1)

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Other Ingredients and Equipment

Paper Bowls (2)
Pouring Pot (1)
Thermometer (1)
Large Pot (1)
Stainless Steel Spoons (2)
Stove Top (1)
Scale (1)

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Clean and Sanitize

Make sure that you are completely ready to begin this project, so you will not run into any issues during your crafting process. So, you will want to get all your equipment ready on your workspace and make sure everything is clean as well. First, retrieve and clean out your equipment. Next, sanitize your workspace, including the surface you’re working on and the stove top. Then, your area should be prepared enough to start this melt tart making craft.

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Double Boiler

Before you begin melting, you will want to make sure that you are prepared to safely heat your wax. The best way to avoid overheating ingredients is a double boiler, so we are going to go over how to create one. Now, take your large pot and add a couple inches or so of water, you will be able to adjust this later. Next, simply place your pouring pot into a larger pot of water. Place this on the stove top and in the next step you will use this device for heating.

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Melting the Pillar of Bliss Wax

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Melting the Pillar of Bliss WaxFirstly, you are going to be melting your Pillar of Bliss Wax. So, take your provided wax and add one pound into your melting container. You can melt this amount, but you should have been provided with one pound of Pillar of Bliss Wax. Replace the melting container into the large pot of water. Next, turn on your stove top and get the water in your large pot to boil. Occasionally, you will stir the wax with a stainless steel spoon as it melts.

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Dividing the Wax

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Dividing the WaxSecond, you will divide your melted wax in half. Since we are going to be making half one scent and half of another scent, you will need to divide the wax equally at this point. The easiest way to do this is to place your paper bowl on the scale and weigh out a half pound of your melted wax. However, you can eye the amount if you are very careful to leave enough melted wax to create both scents. Also, make sure to replace your pouring pot containing the other melted wax on the stove to keep it melted.

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Coloring and Scenting the Apple Cinnamon Melts

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Coloring and Scenting the Apple Cinnamon MeltsNext, we are going to add the dye and fragrance oil to the wax. So, retrieve the paper bowl with your half a pound of wax. First, you will add the red liquid candle dye to your melted wax. Get one of your pipettes, add a drop of your dye, and melt well with a stainless steel spoon. While you can add a second drop if you want your wax tarts to be a deeper red than the wax tarts pictured at the end, you should not add more than a few drops. All candle dye has a scent and you do not want to add so much that it overpowers the fragrance. Next, add your entire ounce of the Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil and mix well.

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Pouring the Red Wax into the Clamshells

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Pouring the Red Wax into the ClamshellsNow, you are going to pour your wax into the clamshells. So, get to of your provided clamshells and set them on your workspace. Then, bend the side of your paper bowl to create a spout. Next, pour your melted wax into your clamshells. Make sure that you don’t move these filled clamshells until they have completely hardened and set up.

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Weighing the Melted Wax

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Weighing the Melted WaxNext, you are going to create the other scented wax melts. So, weigh another half of a pound from your melted wax into a new paper bowl. There should be just enough to complete this second batch, but sometimes a few grams extra are added to the bags. This is just to make sure that you will have plenty of wax to complete your project. But, this means that weighing to make sure your recipe is more exact would be a good idea.
Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Coloring and Scenting the Vanilla Bean Melts
Then, you are going to be adding the dye and fragrance oil. So, retrieve your second paper bowl of melted wax. First, add one drop of the yellow liquid candle dye to your wax and mix well with a stainless steel spoon. The wax tarts pictured below have a second drop of dye included, but you can add either one or two drops. Next, you will be adding your entire ounce of Vanilla Bean Fragrance Oil to your melted wax. Mix your ingredients well and move on to the next step.

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Pouring the Yellow Wax into the Clamshells

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Pouring the Yellow Wax into the ClamshellsFinally, you are ready to pour the wax into your clamshell containers. So, take the paper bowl and bend the side to create the spout. Next, pour the wax into your last two clamshell containers. You will want to make sure these wax melts are not moved until they are entirely set up.

Clamshell Wax Tart Kit Ready to Use

Finally, your wax melts are finished. After the wax melts fully set up, the four wax melts will be ready for you to use! Simply, chose the one you’d like to use and pop out one of the cubes from the clamshell container. Then, you will simply place it into the dish of a wax warmer and wait for the scent. We hope that you enjoyed our Clamshell Wax Tart Kit and feel free to check out other candle and wax tart making recipes on the Natures Garden website!

Scented Pillar Candles with Texture

This entry was posted in candle clamshell tarts, candle fragrance oils, candle making supplies, Fragrance Oils, Natures Garden, pillar, soy candles, votives and tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , on by .

Fragrance OilsWhat’s your name & Your Company Name: My name is Jennifer McGrath and my company is Burning Tears by Madame Jen.

Just about five years ago I started making candles. I originally started making candles for my own home using combinations of color and fragrances for luck, prosperity and spiritual guidance. As time went by I felt the need to share, so I handed some candles to my family, a few friends & my co-workers, even my loving husband started taking them to work at the tattoo shop. It took about two years later for me to build the confidence and start selling my candles.

The name Burning Tears by Madame Jen came from the candles flame. If you look at a candles flame, it’s in the form of a tear drop. My girlfriends call me “The Madame”, being dark by nature; the two magically came together “Burning Tears by Madame Jen”. I originally started off making candles using paraffin wax, and then I had customers asking if I offered soy. So I dropped the paraffin wax and strictly stuck with soy for a while. Early last year I felt like I needed something new to do. There’s only so much you can do with soy. I had actually considered making soap, but wasn’t sure that I wanted to learn something completely new. There was so much hard work that came with perfecting the perfect candle. I’m a full time paralegal with two children, so I stuck with what I knew. I picked up some slabs of paraffin wax and started to play again. This filled me with joy. I love creating pillar candles with different textures and color combinations. You just never know what is going to come out of the mold in the morning, each candle is so unique. So now I offer both soy and paraffin in my line, just about every shape or form i.e. pillars, tin containers, glass jars, warmers, votives and tea lights.

Now, just about every month I’m doing a new craft market/festival. I even have a baby shower and three weddings under my belt. My candles are also sold at a handful of boutiques here in Atlanta. I have always been a crafty person and love creating, but candle making is the one thing that really stuck to me. I not only love making candles for myself , but it makes me very happy and love to hear when my customers tell me how much they are enjoying them too.

I tried to combine a photograph of a handful of my candle creations using Natures Garden’s fragrance oils. Top left is Sweet Grass, 4×6 pillar I made using paraffin wax, very natural crisp and clean scent; Top right is Lily of the Valley using soy in a recycled salsa jar. I’ve never smelled Lily of the Valley before, I’m more of a earthy fragrance kinda gal and this is just a beautiful floral scent!; Bottom left is Lemon Grass using soy in a clamshell which is so clean and refreshing; Bottom right is Dragons Blood which is my ABSOLUTE favorite of my NG oils. Right along with my other top fave is Frankincense & Myrrh (not depicted  here, but totally worth the shout out).Fragrance Oils

Soy Jar Candles with Fragrance Oils

Fragrance-oils-41.  What’s your name & Your Company Name:  Laura & Robert Coronado,  Laura’s Designs

2.  Why did you decide to go into business?  What was your motivation?  How long have you been in business?  I have a Belgian Tervuren, and while there were some cross stitch patterns available, they weren’t capturing the detail of the breed that I was looking for.  I had dabbled in counted cross stitch designs before, so I designed several patterns of the breed.  I received a positive response to the designs.   I have a BS in Biochemistry and mainly worked in laboratory settings, I needed a creative outlet for my artistic side, so I decided to design more patterns.  I was fortunate, when I lived in Rock Hill, SC, to have a cross stitch store across the street. They held a competition and I entered a design in the Original Design category of a racehorse and jockey.  While it didn’t win, it was received very favorably by the owners of the shop.  After returning to Spartanburg, SC, I continued designing patterns and, wanting to work with more color, I started doing birds.  I showed some of the designs to the shop in Rock Hill, and they asked if I could do a design of a Congo African Grey as they had a customer looking for one. I continued to work on designs for fun and occasional sales. In the back of my mind, I wanted to start a business but working full time, it stayed there.  Then in June 1996 I found myself unemployed and decided it was time to get serious about starting a business.  Originally, the business was all mail order, selling my patterns by placing ads in dog and bird magazines.  Eventually, as the internet grew, I opened an eBay store and over time the business became exclusively online, with a few customers that still mail order, and I added my own website in addition to eBay.  Over the years I continued to grow the business, while working full time.   I married Robert in April of 2010 and about a year and half later, after I had a temp job end, he wanted to contribute to the business.  He always had an interest in candles and decided to learn candle making.  We decided on Soy Wax for environmental and health reasons.  With my core business based mainly on dogs and dog show people, we added a line of hand-painted dog silhouette candles to help us pull that group into our new line, along with attracting general candle lovers with the unpainted jar candles and tarts.  We also offer other hand-painted designs.

3.  What products do you make and sell?  Counted Cross Stitch patterns of dogs (most AKC breeds), horses, birds, cats, tropical fish (freshwater and marine), and custom patterns from customer’s photos of their pets.  Coronado Candles line of  hand-poured, made to order, Soy Wax Jar Candles in a variety of sizes, both plain and hand-painted.  Soy Wax Tarts in a variety of sizes and designs. Digital prints of some of my original artwork, mainly pencil drawings.  Fuzzy Squeakers, which are hand-crocheted  for dog show handlers to bait dogs in the show ring.  We are really excited about a new squeaker product coming out that will be crocheted using Chiengora (dog hair yarn).

4.  What are your business goals?  Our goal is to continue growing our business and reaching a larger market with all of our products.  Since my husband had a stroke last March, neither one of us has been able to work outside the home so growing the business has been a priority.  The candle making has been great therapy for him and he spends a lot of time researching and coming up with new designs and ideas for our Coronado Candles line.  We are hoping, during this next year, to add reed diffusers (using NG aroma buds) and hand-made soaps.  In addition,  I will be working on adding the remaining AKC breeds to our counted cross stitch line and adding more prints and photos, and begin doing custom pencil drawings.

5.  What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  We use the Spectrum Liquid Candle Dye, Fragrance Oils, and Wicks.  We have found that all of the NG products are absolutely amazing…   Your dyes work so much better than some others we have tried.  Among our favorite scents from NG are Key Lime Pie, Dark Gourmet Chocolate, Chocolate Covered Cherries, and Jelly Bean!

Sisters of Soy Wax Candles

This entry was posted in candle clamshell tarts, candle fragrance oils, candle making supplies, candle molds, candle scents, candle wicks, Natures Garden and tagged , , , , , , , , on by .

candle making supplies1.  What’s your name & Your Company Name:  We are sisters Peggy Petryshyn and Marlo Costescu.  Our company is Bluebell Soy Candles Inc.

2.  Why did you decide to go into business?  What was your motivation?  How long have you been in business?  When Marlo’s husband died suddenly, she needed a hobby to focus on to help her in her grieving process.  That is how Bluebell Soy Candles came about.  We have been in business since July of 2012.  We’re into all natural, healthy things so the idea of all natural candles was very appealing to us.  After doing research on the various types of waxes, we  decided we should make our own natural soy candles and tarts.  We light a soy candle every day to send a message to Danny that we love him and really miss him and think of him every day.

3.  What products do you make and sell?  We make tea lights, chunk votives and wax tarts from 100% natural soy wax.  We also do custom orders so if you want jar candles, we can do those as well.  Our latest idea is making wedding favors with a tea light or tart wrapped in beautiful netting.  A custom made thank you note from the bride and groom can also be attached to each candle.

4.  What are your business goals?  Our goals are to increase our online presence and get more sales from our Etsy store and our Facebook store.  We really love making candles so it’s imperative that we increase our sales so we can continue doing what we love.

5.  What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  We absolutely love the fragrance oils from Nature’s Garden.  Some of our favorites are Lavender, Black Raspberry Vanilla, Egyptian Musk, Ginger Peach and the Cherry is fabulous!   Fragrances from other companies do not compare!  We also buy wicks, tea light cups, molds – whatever we need to create our wonderful candles.

2.  Why did you decide to go into business?  What was your motivation?  How long have you been in business?  I started making candles for myself and took one to work with me and the next thing I knew co-workers were wanting to buy them and customers started wanting to order them. My motivation was to be able to not have to rely on my job. I never know from year to year if it will be there. My daughter has joined me this year making candles for her SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) for FFA. I am very proud of her as she is going into the agricultural field after graduation. I have been making candles for over six years.

3.  What products do you make and sell?  We make candles, melts, and soaps. We offer over 150 scents.

4.  What are your business goals?  My business goal for this year is to be able to not have to rely on my job.

5.  What are some products you use from Natures Garden?  I buy all my products from Natures Garden. My favorite fragrance oils are Blueberry Muffin, Eucalyptus, and Bite Me. They are amazing!

carrie1.  What’s your name & Your Company Name
My name is Carrie Powell and my company’s name is Carrie’s Curiosities, LLC

2.  Why did you decide to go into business?  What was your motivation?  How long have you been in business?
I’ve loved candles for as long as I can remember and I grew up with a very crafty mother, that encouraged me to try different outlets for my creativity.  I actually went to bed one night thinking, “I wonder how hard it would be to make my own candles”.  When I woke up the next morning, I began scouring the internet for any information on candlemaking I could find. (Luckily, I was able to find quite a lot!)  After I read up on the process, I talked to my husband about learning to make my own candles. (I honestly thought he would tell me I’m crazy.) However, he encouraged me to get a starter kit and try it out, so I did and I loved it!  From there, I started making candles for friends, family and neighbors and people really loved my candles, so I decided to start making them on a larger scale.
My motivation for the business was the prospect of getting to do something I truly loved and still be at home with my son.  I really enjoy the fact that I get to be a business owner and a full time mother!
I’ve been in business for about a year and I’m still learning a lot.  Everyday is a new adventure and I’m loving the ride!

3.  What products do you make and sell?
Right now, I sell soy container candles (mason jars, Victorian style jars, tureens and tins), palm wax container candles, votive candles, tarts/melts and grubby pillar candles.  (I also sell a few beaded ornaments on my website as well, but they aren’t scented!)

4.  What are your business goals?
My current goals are to continue making high quality products and to build my online presence.  I’ve also begun participating in local craft fairs and would like to continue building my presence within my community.

5.  What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?
Oh goodness, I use Nature’s Garden’s fragance oils all the time!  I’ve also purchased tins and clamshell containers and everything I’ve received has been excellent.  I honestly love NG’s fragrance oils.  There is such a large variety, that I just have fun looking through them all and making wishlists.  One of my favorite scents, is one that I just used in my new vanilla line of candles, Coconut Vanilla scent.  It is a terrific scent and I honestly don’t want to sell the candles I’ve made.  I want to keep them all, because I love the scent so much!
