Giraffe Bubble Bar RecipeGiraffe Bubble Bar Recipe

Did you know? The CEO of Nature’s Garden, Deborah Ward and her love for giraffes is the inspiration behind this creative and unique bubble bar? Bubble bars are a fun way to have a nice long soak in a warm tub. Simply, crumble up your bubble bar into some warm water and enjoy the abundance of bubbles that fill your tub! Whether you create this for personal use, friends and family or are just looking for a new addition to your line of bath and body products, we at Nature’s Garden hope you will enjoy creating our newest recipe to join the bubble bar family! Enjoy our Giraffe Bubble Bar Recipe!

Giraffe Bubble Bar Recipe: Let’s talk About the Ingredients

Before starting on our recipe, we’ll talk about some of the ingredients we are using. The first ingredient is what gives the bubble bar its bubbles! Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, or SCI.  This gentle surfactant is derived from coconut. It is a foaming and cleansing agent that will leave your skin silky and smooth!

Baking soda is best know for it’s cleaning and deodorizing properties. This gentle alkaline is amazing at leaving the skin soft and smooth, as well as your hair too!

Cream of tartar will give your product a light and fluffy feeling. It acts as a stabilizer and helps the other ingredients adhere to each other.

Corn Starch is the perfect ingredient to help sooth irritated skin and it also leaves your skin soft! The fragrance we chose was our Cucumber Fragrance Oil. This is a popular seller here at Nature’s Garden. True cucumber scent with an undertone of violet.

Giraffe Bubble Bar Recipe: Prepping Your Supplies and Work Area

As with any recipe you should always prep your supplies and work area. This helps in creating your craft without stopping to look for your ingredients. First thing is to clean your work space and ensure that you have enough room to work and lay your dough down. Next, give your utensils and scale a quick clean with some soap and water. Lastly, have all your ingredients ready for measuring and withing easy reach! For sanitary reasons go ahead and put your rubber safety gloves on.  Just a few preventative steps will help things move along smoothly!

Giraffe Bubble Bar Recipe: Weighing and Combining the Dry IngredientsGiraffe Bubble Bar Recipe: Weighing and Combining the Dry Ingredients

Our first step will be measuring and combining our dry ingredients. You will need a large mixing bowl and your scale. Set your scale to grams.  Next, weigh out 410 grams of Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, 460 grams of Sodium Bicarbonate- Baking Soda, 224 grams of Cream of Tartar, and 72 grams of Corn Starch. Give these ingredients a nice mixing with your hands, breaking up any clumps as you go.

Giraffe Bubble Bar Recipe: Weighing and Combining the Wet IngredientsGiraffe Bubble Bar Recipe: Weighing and Combining the Wet Ingredients

Next comes the wet stuff! You will need another mixing bowl ( or you can simply add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredient bowl) and your gram scale. Now weigh out 200 grams of Vegetable Glycerin, 24 grams of Sesame Seed Oil and 14 grams of Cucumber Fragrance Oil.

Giraffe Bubble Bar Recipe: Mixing Everything Together

Let’s add the wet and dry ingredients together! If you have mixed your wet ingredients separately go ahead and dump them in with your dry. If you add your wet straight to the dry you can start mixing with your hands making sure that you are breaking up any lumps as you go. Mix until you have the right consistency (you should have a nice, smooth workable dough). If your dough is to crumbly after mixing together, you can add a bit more vegetable glycerin. Be careful to not add too much or the bubble bar will not set up properly.

Giraffe Bubble Bar Recipe: Separating the Bubble Bar Dough

The third step in our recipe will be separating the bubble bar dough. For this you will need your 2 mixing bowls. You will divide the dough into 2 equal portions. Each portion will be a different color. We have included a color chart to help you achieve the correct color for the spots and the “skin” of the giraffe.

Bowl 1:

  • Brown Oxide- 6 drops
  • Orange Oxide- 3 drops
  •  Black Oxide- 6 drops
  •  Red Oxide- 6 drops

Bowl 2:

  • Yellow Oxide- 3 drops

Giraffe Bubble Bar Recipe: Making the Brown Colored PortionGiraffe Bubble Bar Recipe: Making the Brown Colored Portion

Now that your dough is separated, let’s start adding color.  We will work on the spots and inner color of the bubble bar. To the first bowl, add your 6 drops of Brown Oxide, 3 drops of Orange Oxide, 6 drops of Black Oxide and 6 drops of Red Oxide FUN Soap Colorant. With your gloved hands mix the colorant into your dough until you have achieved an orange brown color.  Roll the dough into a ball and set it aside, for now.

Giraffe Bubble Bar Recipe: Making the Yellow Colored PortionGiraffe Bubble Bar Recipe: Making the Yellow Colored Portion

Next, let’s create the “skin” color of the giraffe. For this you will add 3 drops of Yellow Oxide FUN Soap colorant to your second bowl of dough. With clean gloved hands mix this colorant into your dough until you have a nice, pale yellow color.

Giraffe Bubble Bar: Getting Ready to Roll the Layers

Now that our dough is separated and colored, we are ready to start rolling the layers. For this step you will use your silicone baking mat or parchment paper. Dust whichever you have chosen to use with some baking soda. This will help keep the dough from sticking when it is time to roll the dough. You should also dust your rolling pin with some baking soda to help prevent sticking.

Giraffe Bubble Bar: Rolling out the First LayerGiraffe Bubble Bar: Rolling out the First Layer

Our first layer will be the yellow layer. Go ahead and take your yellow dough ball and lay it in the center of the surface of your mat or paper. Now roll your ball into a flat, rectangular shape.  You will want this layer about 1/4 inch in thickness.

Giraffe Bubble Bar: Laying Down the Second LayerGiraffe Bubble Bar: Laying Down the Second Layer

Next up is our Orange brown layer. Before you start rolling, however, you need to pull of about 30 grams of the dough and set this aside. This portion will be for the spots. Place the remaining dough in the center of the yellow rectangle dough and start rolling this layer out. You may add some baking soda to your rolling pin before you start to prevent sticking. Roll this layer out to the size or as close to the size of the yellow layer and at 1/4 inch thick. Once you have finished, you will be all set to move onto rolling the bubble bar dough into a loaf.

Giraffe Bubble Bar: Rolling Up The Bubble Bar

Now that your layers are rolled out, you are ready to roll them into a loaf. Turn your silicone mat or parchment paper so that the mat or paper is vertical. Lift up on the edge of the paper or mat that is closest to your body. Begin to carefully roll the dough in the same way you would a pumpkin roll. Slowly roll the dough evenly as you go, watching to make sure everything stays lined up.

Giraffe Bubble Bar: Adding the spotsGiraffe Bubble Bar: Adding the spots

Now that your dough is in its rolled up completely, we will begin using the orange brown colored dough we set aside to create our “spots”. Giraffe spots are not perfect in size and shape. This is the look you will want to go for. Pull off irregular size pieces of the reserved dough and add it to the yellow portion of your bubble bar. (Having trouble getting a good pattern in your head? Try Googling “giraffe” and find a pattern you can follow!)  Once your loaf is completely covered you will be ready to slice it up into individual bars.

Giraffe Bubble Bar: Slicing your Finished ProductGiraffe Bubble Bar: Slicing your Finished Product

Let’s cut this loaf into slices! This recipe will make about 8 slices, depending on how thick you choose to slice your loaf. Using a sharp knife, slice the bubble bar into 1-2 inch slices. Once your loaf is completely sliced, lay the portions out on a flat surface to set up. Our bubble bars took approximately 48-72 hours to set up completely. This may take longer, depending on the climate of your  environment.

Your Giraffe Bubble Bar is ready to use! When it’s bath time, simply crumble a slice of bar under warm, running bath water and enjoy the bubbles that will froth up into your tub and have a nice, long soak! You will emerge from your bath smelling sweet, fresh and feeling soft and clean!

Did You Know?Did You Know?

Have you ever looked at the beauty of a giraffe? I mean, really watched them when you visit a zoo?  They are amazing creatures! Majestic in their movements, they roam the open grasslands in small groups. A giraffe’s height is both an advantage and a disadvantage. While towering at a height ranging from 14 to 18 feet tall they have the ability to spot predators. Their height helps them eat from the leaves of trees since the disadvantage in their height is bending down. It is incredibly difficult for them and it leaves them in a vulnerable state to be attacked.  Luckily, giraffes only need to drink once every several days since most of their water intake is from the leaves they consume. They can also run a steady 35 miles an hour over short distances and comfortably at 10 miles per hour over longer distances.

Giraffes are truly beautiful animals and their eyelashes! They are to die for! Another fun giraffe fact is that a group of giraffes are called a tower! Kind of fitting, right? Towers usually consist of females and babies, however genders will vary and they can come and go as they please.

Yogurt Soap Recipes

Nature’s Garden has created some yogurt soap recipes that will give your skin the ability to shine with glowing results. Enjoy these fun recipes that we have created! These recipes use our wonderful yogurt melt and pour soap base which will give you a wide array of amazing soap to create!  We hope you enjoy this list of soaps that hopefully will inspire you to create! First, let’s talk about why yogurt is such an amazing melt and pour soap base.

Yogurt Soap Recipes: Yogurt Melt and Pour Soap BaseYogurt Soap Recipes: Yogurt Melt and Pour Soap Base

Let’s talk about the type of soap we will be using! If your are new to the world of soaping follow this link to the page on our website that will give you the full rundown how to use all of our melt and pour soap bases. The following recipes will be using our Yogurt Melt and Pour Soap Base. If you are new to the soapmaking world, melt and pour is an awesome way to get started. This soap will let you, the soap maker, focus on the aesthetic that will make your soap your own!  It allows you to familiarize yourself with techniques of handmade soapmaking using colorants, fragrances, and soap molds. This soap base is very versatile! It can be melted and remelted without losing any of its quality! This can be very helpful if you are trying to create a fancy soap that has multiple steps!

Yogurt Soap Recipes: Soap Frosting

Let’s set the scene! There is a plain loaf of soap sitting on your table looking kind of sad. It’s plain looking on top! It needs something! How about a fluffy mound of “whipped cream”? An easy and quick way to do this is our Soap Frosting made with whipped soap base and yogurt melt and pour soap! This versatile recipe can be scented with your fragrance oil of choice or even colored with a FUN soap colorant. Since it’s frosting though, we chose Buttercream Fragrance Oil. A yummy blend of buttercream and vanilla! Now your soaps have a beautiful topping that looks like you could dip your finger in and take a lick!

Yogurt Soap Recipes: Rainbow Zebra Print Soap RecipeYogurt Soap Recipes: Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe

Our first recipe is a fun creation for those that like to get creative! We used yogurt melt and pour soap and some FUN soap colorants in Teal, Yelp Yellow, Neon Pink and Neon Blue! To create the fun Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe you will all you do is a simple trick of tilting your mold from one side to the other and allowing the layer you have poured to set up almost completely. You will definitely get a soap pattern that has a look of intricate layering. Only you will know the trick! We scented this soap with our best selling scent,  Amazingly Grace fragrance oil! This soap is scented with a light citrus tone sweetened with rose, violet, jasmine.

So, what do you think?  Are zebras white with black stripes or black with white stripes? Actually they are black with white stripes! Their stripes are camouflage from predators. Zebras are hard to distinguish if they are in large groups. The stripes act as a natural sunscreen to protect their skin from the African heat and sun.

Yogurt Soap Recipes: Moonlight Tuberose Swirled Soap RecipeYogurt Soap Recipes: Moonlight Tuberose Swirled Soap Recipe

This next recipe is a wonderfully feminine creation! Our Moonlight Tuberose Swirled Soap uses a combination of Yogurt melt and pour, plus our whipped soap base to help give the soap a fluffy, white topping! You are going to create 4 differently colored soap bases. Each soap base will have a beneficial clay added to it. The clays we chose to use are Rose Clay, French Green Clay, Kaolin and a personal favorite of mine: Vanilla Powder which is the yummiest smelling powder! These natural cosmetic clays will help exfoliate and nourish the skin along with removing impurities from your skin pores. The fragrance oil was our fragrance of the month in February, Moonlight Tuberose! This fragrance oil is a delicate blend of rose and greenery. Sprinkle some whole Jasmine flowers on top to give your soap an extra lovely touch!

Did you know? The tuberose is a night blooming flower native to Mexico. Louis XIV of France loved the tuberose. He had hundreds of them planted in the gardens at Versailles. The scent was overpowering! Gardeners grew the tuberoses in clay pots where they were planted directly into the ground. To keep the perfume-y air consistent, new plants were placed in among old plants on a daily basis.

Yogurt Soap Recipes: Leprechaun Hat Soap RecipeYogurt Soap Recipes: Leprechaun Hat Soap Recipe

Here’s an adorable soap to enhance your spring time or St. Patrick’s Day line of soaps! This recipe uses our Diamond Clear and Yogurt Melt and Pour Soap Bases, 3 FUN Soap colorants and a little ingenuity! Our Leprechaun Hat Soap Recipe will be a wonder to look at and people will be impressed by your talents! The fragrance we chose is our Apple Happy Camper fragrance oil. This oil smells just like a green apple Jolly Rancher. Bright, tart and sweet!

Did you know? Leprechauns were thought to be dressed in red and not green? Poets and writers stated in their musings that the rascally leprechauns where seen wearing a variation of “red dress”.

Yogurt Soap Recipes: Banana Pudding Soap RecipeYogurt Soap Recipes: Banana Pudding Soap Recipe

Here is an ingenious soap that looks like you could eat it! Banana Pudding Soap is completely made using Yogurt Melt and Pour Soap base.  Our graphic artist, Afshan created this recipe.  She created the banana slices and vanilla wafers using molds from Flexiblemolds.com. These molds are wonderful to work with and can be used multiple times. She scented this fun and unique soap with our Old Fashioned Banana Pudding fragrance oil. It smells of true banana pudding! Vanilla wafers, bananas and meringue topping! The whipped topping for this particular recipe did not use the Soap Frosting recipe. We chose to whip up some imagine base with the yogurt soap base with a touch of vegetable glycerin to give the batter some flexibility.

Did you know? Banana Pudding is actually a dessert that developed in the south, around the early 1900s?

Yogurt Soap Recipes: Chocolate Cream Cheese Cupcake Soap RecipeYogurt Soap Recipes: Chocolate Cream Cheese Cupcake Soap Recipe

Who is in the mood for a Chocolate Cream Cheese Cupcake? Well, probably everybody! How about if it’s made out of soap? Yes! Definitely! Not into making dessert soaps? Please feel free to make the real thing! You will want one after you get a whiff of this soap! Using Yogurt Melt and Pour Soap for the cupcake and the “cream cheese” topping is just part of the creation. We used our yummy Chocolate Cream Cheese Cupcake fragrance oil that smells of chocolate cake, vanilla, buttercream and coconut! We even grated a small bit of unscented soap base to help give it that “coconut” touch!

Did you know? Around 1873, William A. Lawrence, a Chester, New York dairyman, was the first to mass-produce cream cheese. In 1872, he purchased a Neufchâtel (neufchatel is actually a french cheese that is soft, slightly crumbly mold-ripened cheese) factory and shortly thereafter, by adding cream to the process, was able to create a richer cheese that he called “cream cheese”.

Yogurt Soap Recipes: Fun Swirl Soap RecipeYogurt Soap Recipes: Fun Swirl Soap Recipe

Our next recipe is a fun way to get creative and it’s easy to do! Fun Swirl Soap loaf is made entirely of yogurt melt and pour soap. What makes this soap fun is after you have made your soap curls, you can make big soap curls or small soap curls. You can add as many soap curls to your soap as you like! Our fragrance oil of choice for this recipe is Flower Child; a very earthy scent of patchouli and sandalwood! This soap would make a good companion to our Hippies & Hemp Cold Process soap!

Did you know? The term “flower child originated in San Francisco in the summer of 1967. “Flower Child” originated as a synonym for “hippie”. It was the custom of “flower children” to wear and distribute flowers or floral-themed decorations to symbolize ideas of universal belonging, peace, and love.

Yogurt Soap Recipes: Perfectly Pampered Shaving SoapYogurt Soap Recipes: Perfectly Pampered Shaving Soap

Shaving cream is expensive! What if you made your own shaving soap? Our Perfectly Pampered Shaving Soap is very easy to do when you use our yogurt melt and pour soap! With this recipe, you can make 3 heart shape bars in no time! This recipe incorporates rose clay powder; a gentle exfoliate that will help reduce skin irritation and sloughs away dead skin cells. Our fragrance of choice was our Cannabis Rose Type fragrance oil.

Did you know? The oldest written record of cannabis usage is the Greek historian Herodotus’s reference to the central Eurasian Scythians taking cannabis steam baths. They would take the plants, throw them onto hot stones, where it would immediately smoke!

Yogurt Soap Recipes: Layered Melt and Pour Soap RecipeYogurt Soap Recipes: Layered Melt and Pour Soap Recipe

This Layered Melt and Pour Soap Recipe is a good, easy recipe to help you get started on more fancy-looking soaps. We used our 6 star-shaped cavity silicone soap mold for this soap. These molds are easy on clean up and your soaps pop out with no hassle! This recipe uses yogurt melt and pour soap and SLS Free Glycerin melt and pour soap. We chose our Honeysuckle fragrance oil that scents the air with a blend of honeysuckle, jasmine, rose and lilac! A very fresh, summery smell! In just a few simple steps you will have a fun, easy soap to hand out as simple gifts to friends and family or to decorate your bathrooms with!

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap RecipeRainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe

If you are looking for a fun recipe for soap without lye, then check out the latest soap creation from Natures Garden! The Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe is a fun way to create your very own soap using a great melt and pour base. Our design was inspired by the beauty of wild zebras. Did you know that each zebra’s stripes are as unique as your fingerprint? This means that no two zebras will have the same pattern. So, we used the unique design of the stripes and made it even wilder by using a rainbow of different colors. This will leave you with bars of soap that are fun and beautiful.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Preparing Your Craft Area

Before you begin creating your recipe there are a few things that you can do to make the process easier and more fun. First, you will want to collect your equipment for this recipe. This way you won’t have your melted soap set up while you look for supplies. While this won’t ruin your recipe, it can become frustrating. Further, you want to make sure your supplies and work area are clean. This will make sure that dirt or crumbs from other projects don’t make their way into your recipe. Also, you can fill up your bullet bottle with rubbing alcohol and place a sprayer on top. This will ensure that you will have this ready to use before your layers set up.  Also, decide what order you want to pour your layers.  We created this soap a few times, varying the order of the colors.  You can choose to pour your colors in any order.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Weighing and Scenting the First LayerRainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Weighing and Scenting the First Layer

First, you are going to prepare the bottom layer of your soap loaf. So, weigh 152 grams of the Yogurt Melt and Pour Soap Base into your mixing bowl. Melt the soap thoroughly using 30 second intervals and stir between heating to prevent scorching. Next, weigh 7 grams of the Amazingly Grace Fragrance Oil. Mix this into your soap base. Now, you are ready to pour.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Pouring the First LayerRainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Pouring the First Layer

Next, we are going to pour this first layer into our square loaf mold. So, you are going to need to prop up one side. We used a small block of wood, but you can use anything you can find to raise one side of the mold. Creating this angle will allow us to make stripes that better resemble a zebra pattern. Once your layer has been poured remember to spray the top with the rubbing alcohol. This will release any bubbles and allow your layers to stick together.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Making the Yellow Layer

Now, we are ready to create our yellow layer for this soap. So, weigh 200 grams of the mp soap base into a clean mixing bowl. Use a microwave in short bursts to melt the soap and mix between heating. After, add 10 grams of the fragrance oil. Plus, you will add 5 drops of the Yelp Yellow FUN Soap Colorant. Make sure to incorporate this your soaps well enough that your color is even. Then, you can get ready to pour.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Pouring the Second LayerRainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Pouring the Second Layer

For this step, we are going to be pouring the second layer into the soap mold. First, we need to make sure that the previous layer has set up almost completely. The timing is very important with this recipe.  You want the soap to form a pretty thick film.  However, you don’t want it to be completely hardened.  If it still has some flexibility when you pour your next layer, the line will be more wavy like a zebra instead of sharp and angled.  Once you are sure you are ready to pour, you will need to take your mold off the block and set it flat. Since our last layer was already at an angle, this layer will fill in the spaces. Once you have added all of this layer, lightly spray the top with the rubbing alcohol.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Creating the Next LayerRainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Creating the Next Layer to Pour

Now, we are going to make our second white layer for this recipe. So, weigh 152 grams of the soap base into a mixing bowl. Carefully melt the mp soap in a microwave. Then, add 7 grams of the fragrance oil to the mixture. Combine these ingredients thoroughly before you move on to pouring the mixture.

Next, we will get ready to pour this layer. So, check your yellow soap layer and see whether it has set up. Since these layers are fairly thin, they shouldn’t take too long to set up. When your soap is ready you can leave the mold flat and begin to pour. After, you will need to lightly spray the top of this layer with the alcohol.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Creating the Teal LayerRainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Creating the Teal Layer

Next, we are going to be making the teal colored layer for our homemade soap. After you measure 200 grams of soap base, melt the soap using a microwave. Remember to use short bursts and periodically stir. Once your soap is melted add 10 grams of the scented oil and 6 drops of the Teal FUN Soap Colorant. Mix all of your ingredients together well. Then, we can move on to creating this next part of the design.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Creating a Forked Layer

This part of the soap will be slightly different than the other layers. We are going to create a forked layer with our teal mixture. First, you will need to pour about half of your teal soap into the mold. For this part, your mold will remain flat on the table. Then, spray the layer with alcohol and allow the soap to set up.

Once your teal layer has set up completely you are ready to add the white portion of the fork. First, you are going to need to tilt your mold. We used two of our blocks to create a bigger tilt and make sure that the white layer was only on one side of the mold. Depending on what you have used to angle your mold, you may need to play with your height a bit before you are ready to pour. Melt 150 grams of the yogurt soap and add 7 grams of the Amazingly Grace Fragrance Oil. Once you have added this white layer you can spray the top with rubbing alcohol. Make sure to leave the soap mold angle the same way until you pour your next layer.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Adding the Other Half of the Teal MixtureRainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Adding the Other Half of the Teal Mixture

Next, we are going to be finishing the forked layer with the rest of our teal colored soap. So, make sure that the white soap has set up. Then, you can melt the teal soap again. Once your soap has melted you will pour the teal soap into the mold at the same angle as your previous white layer. After, you can spray the tops with rubbing alcohol. Now, this will leave you with a forked appearance for this stripe.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Adding the Next White LayerRainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Adding the Next White Layer

Now, we are ready to create our next layer for this soap. So, melt 150 grams of the melt and pour soap in the microwave. After, you will need to include 7 grams of the fragrance oil and mix the ingredient well. Once everything is ready to pour, check that your last layer has mostly set up. If it has, then you can start pouring this layer.

First, you will need to get rid of the angle. So, you can set the mold down flat on your work surface. Now, you will pour this scented white soap on top of your hardened teal layer. Once everything has been added you can spray the top with rubbing alcohol. Then, move on to creating the next layer.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Adding the Blue and White LayersRainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Adding the Neon Blue and White Layers

This time you will be mixing up the neon blue layer for our recipe. So, carefully melt another 200 grams of soap into a clean mixing bowl. Once your soap is all melted you will need to add 10 grams of the fragrance oil along with 5 drops of the Neon Blue FUN Soap Colorant. Make sure to mix these ingredients thoroughly. Once the previous layer has completely set up you can add the blue layer on top. Then, spray the top of this layer with the rubbing alcohol.

Now, you will be mixing the next layer for your zebra soap recipe. You will need to melt 150 grams of the Melt and Pour Soap Base in the microwave. Once your soap has been completely melted, you can add 7 grams of the scented oil. Mix this ingredient into the soap. After the blue layer has completely set up you are ready to pour in this next layer. Remember to spray the top with alcohol before moving on to the next step.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Creating and Pouring the Pink Layer

You will need to create the pink soap for this next layer. So, melt 200 grams of the yogurt mp soap.  Then, 10 grams of the fragrance to your melted soap. Also, mix in 5 drops of Neon Pink FUN Soap Colorant. After all this is mixed together, check that your previous layer has set up completely. Once it has you can move on to the next step.

Next, we are going to be pouring the pink layer onto your soap. This next layer will be slightly angled. You can use a similar height to the yellow layer and add the wedge to the opposite side as before. As soon as you get your desired angle, pour in this pink mixture. Then, spray the top with rubbing alcohol.

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Mixing and Adding the Top Layer

Finally, we are going to be adding the last layer for the zebra print soap. You will need to melt 150 grams of the soap in a microwave. Then, incorporate 7 grams of the fragrance oil. Once everything has mixed together you should check to make sure that the pink layer has set up completely. If it has, then remove the object from underneath the mold and pour your soap. After the soap is in the mold, spray the soap to release any air bubbles. Now, you just need to wait for your last layer to set up and you will be ready to cut and use your soap!

Rainbow Zebra Print Soap Recipe: Interesting Facts

Zebras are such majestic animals, but their beautiful stripes are just for looks. There are quite a few ideas as to how these unique patterns are beneficial. Firstly, the zebras are able to use each of their unique patterns in a group to confuse predators. Since these stripes help the zebras blend into their herd, they will even circle around young animals to create a defensive barrier. But, there are quite a few more reasons why this pattern is so important. If you would like to learn a bit more, then you should go to the article Plains Zebra by National Geographic

Rainbow MP Soap RecipeRainbow MP Soap Recipe

Sometimes our inspirations come from the simplest things.  Well, over the past few weeks I have been testing, creating videos, and packaging cold process soaps using Natures Garden’s FUN Soap Colorants.  Once they were packaged and labeled, I took them to Shannon to display in the store.  We carry 21 of these colorants and I tested each soap colorant using five different amounts.  So, this meant that we had over 100 soaps to display.  Shannon decided to display them on a round, tiered display in our store, see the display here.  When I saw how she displayed them, I was immediately inspired to create a variety of rainbow themed recipes that will go on the bottom tier of her display.  So, below, you will find my Rainbow MP Soap Recipe, the second of several recipes we will be creating inspired by this display.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Preparing Your SoapRainbow MP Soap Recipe: Preparing Your Soap

First, I prepared all of my soap.  This means weighing out and cutting up all of the soap for each of the seven layers.  You will need your scale, mixing bowls, and clear melt and pour soap.  Now, in each of your seven mixing bowls, weigh out and cut up 130 grams of Natures Garden’s Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Purple Soap Layer

Now, you will need one of your bowls of clear melt and pour soap.  You will also need the deep purple FUN Soap Colorant, fragrance oil, and Vanilla White.  Finally, you will need your 4 loaf mold, and your bottle of rubbing alcohol.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Purple Soap LayerSo, place your mixing bowl in the microwave for about 30 seconds.  If you notice that the soap has not completely melted, you may need about 10 more seconds.  This will all just depend on your microwave.  Once your soap has melted, add 4 drops of the purple soap colorant.  Then, add 6 grams of Angel Wings Fragrance Oil and 6 grams of the Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  Use a mixing spoon to blend the ingredients.  Finally, pour your melted purple soap into the loaf mold.  Spray the melted soap with rubbing alcohol to release the air bubbles.  Allow the purple soap to setup completely before moving on.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Blue Soap Layer

Next, we will be preparing a blue layer of soap.  So, you will, once again, need one of your bowls of weighed out soap, your fragrance oil, and Vanilla White.  In addition, you will need the ultramarine blue soap colorant and your soap mold.  At this time, also get your Angel Wings fragrance oil and Vanilla White Color Stabilizer ready.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Blue Soap LayerSo, place your next bowl of melt and pour soap in the microwave.  Heat the soap for about 30 seconds, or until it is melted.  Once your soap has melted, add 3 drops of the ultramarine blue FUN Soap Colorant.  Also, add 6 grams of Vanilla White and 6 grams of Angel Wings Fragrance Oil.  Mix the soap base to incorporate the ingredients.  Now, spray your previous purple layer with rubbing alcohol and pour the blue melted soap right on top of the purple soap.  Lastly, spray the blue layer with rubbing alcohol and let this layer setup.  Rubbing alcohol will not only help layers of soap adhere to each other, it also helps release air bubbles.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Dark Green Soap Layer

Next, we will prepare our Kelly green soap.  So, once again, you will need one of your bowls of soap.  This time, you will need the Kelly green FUN Soap Colorant.  Also, your fragrance oil, color stabilizer, rubbing alcohol, and soap mold should be in front of you.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Orange Soap Layer

Now, we will prepare our orange layer of soap.  For this layer, we will use Natures Garden’s Eye Poke Orange FUN Soap Colorant.  So, you will need this colorant along with another bowl of soap base you weighed out earlier.  In addition, you will need your Angel Wings Fragrance Oil and Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  Also, place your mold in front of you and you rubbing alcohol close.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Rainbows

Now, we will prepare the rainbows that will top our soap.  This will be done using melt and pour soap and vegetable glycerin.  We will pour the soap into the remaining 2 cavities of the loaf soap mold and allow it to setup.  Later, we will slice it into smaller pieces and use the smaller pieces to create our rainbows.

So, first, melt 30 grams of Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap.  Then, add 3 grams of Vegetable Glycerin, 1 gram of Angel Wings Fragrance Oil, 1 gram of Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, and 1 drop of Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant.  Stir to blend the ingredients.  Now, in two of the cavities of the silicone 4 loaf mold, pour the melted soap.  You want to pour half the soap in one cavity, and half in the other.  Allow it to setup before moving to the next color.

Next, once again, melt 30 grams of Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap.  Then, add 3 grams of Vegetable Glycerin, 1 gram of Angel Wings Fragrance Oil, 1 gram of Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, and 1 drop of Eye Poke Orange FUN Soap Colorant.  Mix everything together slowly and thoroughly until everything is combined.  Spray the red soap with rubbing alcohol.  Then, pour the orange soap right on top, in the same manner you did before.  Allow the soap to setup before you prepare the next color.

At this time, we will begin preparing the lime green layer.  Melt 30 grams of Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap.  Now, add 3 grams of Vegetable Glycerin, 1 gram of Angel Wings Fragrance Oil, 1 gram of Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, and 1 drop of Lime Green FUN Soap Colorant.  Finally, stir to incorporate the ingredients.  Spray the orange soap with rubbing alcohol.  Then, pour the green soap right on top of the orange soap, pouring half in each cavity.  Allow the soap to setup before you prepare the next color.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Prepare The Blue LayerRainbow MP Soap Recipe: Prepare The Blue Layer

Again, melt 30 grams of Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap.  We will begin preparing the blue layer.  Once your soap is melted, beginning adding 3 grams of Vegetable Glycerin, 1 gram of Angel Wings Fragrance Oil, 1 gram of Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, and 1 drop of Ultramarine Blue FUN Soap Colorant.  Finally, stir to incorporate the ingredients. Spray the green soap with rubbing alcohol.  Then, pour a blue layer of soap right on top of the green soap in both cavities.  After spraying the soap with rubbing alcohol, allow it to setup before you prepare the next color.

Finally, we will begin preparing the purple layer.  We will melt one more layer of soap.  So, melt 30 grams of Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap.  Now, add 3 grams of Vegetable Glycerin, 1 gram of Angel Wings Fragrance Oil, 1 gram of Vanilla White Color Stabilizer, and 1 drop of Deep Purple FUN Soap Colorant.  Finally, stir to incorporate the ingredients. Spray the blue soap with rubbing alcohol.  Then, pour the purple soap right on top of the blue soap.  Again, spray the soap with rubbing alcohol.  Allow the soap to setup before you move on.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Cutting the RainbowsRainbow MP Soap Recipe: Cutting the Rainbows

Lastly, once the soap has setup, remove it from the mold.  Then, slice it into strips.  You want them to be about 3/4 inch wide and about 5 3/4 inches.  So, you want to be sure you are slicing them long ways.  Finally, do the same with the soap in the cavity of the mold.  You will notice that due to the addition of vegetable glycerin, the soap is nice and flexible.  This will allow us to bend them into a rainbow shape and later place them on top of our whipped soap.  Go ahead and shape each rainbow so that you have them ready for the top of the soap.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Whipped Soap Base

Now, we will begin preparing our whipped soap base.  The whipped soap base is meant to look like clouds in this recipe.  It will also anchor our rainbows to our soap loaf.  So, in a deep mixing bowl, weigh out 200 grams of the whipped soap base.  Next, add 20 grams of vegetable glycerin, 20 grams of Angel Wings Fragrance Oil, and 20 grams of Vanilla White Color Stabilizer.  Then, use a hand mixer to fluff the soap to a fluffy cloud-like consistency.  Set this aside for a moment, we will come back to it.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Prepare Your Whipped Soap Base

In a separate mixing bowl, weigh out 200 grams of Natures Garden’s Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base.  Melt the soap base using your microwave.  Once the soap is melted, pour it into the bowl containing the whipped soap.  Finally, mix the soap once again with your hand mixer.

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Topping the Soap

Rainbow MP Soap Recipe: Topping the Soap
At this time, we will begin topping our soap loaf.  Place the whipped soap on top of each loaf, covering the entire loaf.  You will use half of the whipped soap on each loaf.  So, when you are finished it will look like clouds on top of your soap.

Then, place the rainbows on top of the loaves.  We used about 4 rainbows on each loaf.

Once your soap has finished setting up, slice your soap using your mitre box and mitre box cutter.  Then, you can use your rainbow melt and pour soap right away.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Combining the Dry Ingredients Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Combining the Dry Ingredients

First, you are going to need to measure all of the dry ingredients for this recipe. You will need a large mixing bowl and a gram scale. Then, weigh 460 grams of baking soda, 410 grams of sodium cocoyl isethionate, 224 grams cream of tartar, and 72 grams of corn starch. Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Weighing the Wet IngredientsRainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Weighing the Wet Ingredients

Next, you are going to combine all of the wet ingredients for this bubble bars. You will need to add these to your large mixing bowl with the dry ingredients. You can either weigh these ingredients into a separate bowl first or weigh everything directly into the mixing bowl. So, you will need to add 200 grams of the vegetable glycerin, 24 grams of the safflower oil, and 14 grams of the Rain Fragrance Oil to the mixture.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Mixing Everything TogetherRainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Mixing Everything Together

Now that both wet and dry ingredients are included, you can begin mixing your dough. You will need to make sure that you break up any clumps and continue until you have the right consistency. If you don’t get a doughy consistency after mixing everything together well, then you can add a bit more vegetable glycerin. You can tell that you need more when the dough is crumbly. However, you want to be careful not to add too much, as it will not set up properly when it is too wet.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Separating the Bubble Bar Dough

After everything has been mixed together you are going to separate the batch into five equal portions. You can eyeball the amounts, but you should have about 280 grams of the dough in each of the five mixing bowls.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Making the Red Colored PortionRainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Making the Red Colored Portion

Now that your dough has been separated you can grab one of these portions to color. So, you will need to add 10 drops of the Tomato Red FUN Soap Colorant along with 5 drops of the Neon Red FUN Soap Colorant. After both of these colorants have been added you will need to use your gloved hands to mix the color in evenly. After you have a bright red hue throughout this portion you can roll it into a ball and set it aside for now.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Adding Orange ColorantRainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Adding Orange Colorant

Next, we are going to create the orange portion of this recipe. So, grab one of the unused mixing bowls to add 10 drops of the Neon Orange FUN Soap Colorant. Then, you will need to use gloved hands to fully incorporate the soap colorant. After all the color is evenly distributed roll the dough into a ball and set this portion aside.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Creating the Yellow Portion

Now, we are going to mix up the yellow portion of this recipe. Grab one of the uncolored portions of the bubble bar. Then, you will need to add 5 drops of the Neon Yellow FUN Soap Colorant. You will need to mix the color into the batch until it is evenly distributed throughout the entire portion. Then, you can roll up the yellow dough and set it aside.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Making the Green PortionRainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Making the Green Portion

Then, we will need to mix the green portion of the batch. So, retrieve one of the two remaining uncolored portions. You need to add 5 drops of the Neon Green FUN Soap Colorant to the bowl. After you add your colorant to the batch, you will need to mix everything together. So, use your gloved hand to evenly disperse the color. Once you are finished, you can roll this into a ball and set it aside for now.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Adding the Purple Colorant Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Adding the Purple Colorant

Finally, we are going to create the purple portion of our bubble bar. So, grab your last uncolored portion of the recipe. You will add 5 drops of the Deep Purple FUN Soap Colorant. Now, mix the colorant into the batter using your gloved hands. Once the color is even in the dough you can roll it into a ball and set aside.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Getting Ready to Roll ColorsRainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Getting Ready to Roll Colors

Now that are the layers are colored we are going to need to get ready to roll everything. You will either need a silicone mat or a piece of parchment paper. Next, lightly dust the mat or paper with some baking soda. This will help keep your bubble bar from sticking as you pick up and roll the layers.  You also should dust your rolling pin with baking soda so the dough doesn’t stick to that either.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Rolling Out the First Layer Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Rolling Out the First Layer

Just like a real rainbow, we are going to have the red on the outside. So, grab your ball of red dough from its bowl. You can set this dough ball in the center of your sheet or mat. Then, roll the ball into a flat, rectangle shape.  Also, make sure that you leave this layer about a quarter inch thick. Remember that as you add more layers this initial layer will continue to get thinner.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Laying Down the Orange LayerRainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Laying Down the Orange Layer

Next, we are going to add the orange layer to the bubble bar. So, take your rolled up orange ball of dough. Place this orange ball right on top of the previous layer. Roll the orange layer to match the shape of the red layer. You don’t need to be exact, but make sure that you have a similar shape and are near the edges.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Rolling the Yellow Layer Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Rolling the Yellow Layer

Now, you are going to create the yellow layer of your bubble bar. You will need to take the rolled up yellow portion and place it on the orange layer. As you can see, we didn’t have a rolling pin available and got creative. You can use a rolling pin effectively, but we used our 16 oz bottle of Safflower Oil to roll our dough. Either way, you will need to roll the yellow similarly to the previous layers.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Rolling the Green Layer

Then, you will be ready to create the green layer for your bubble bar recipe. You will need to take the green ball of dough and add it to the center of your yellow layer. Now, you will need to roll out this green layer until it is about the same shape and nearly at the edges.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Creating the Final Layer

Finally, you are going to add your purple layer to your bubble bar. So, place your ball of purple to the center of the previous layer. You will need to roll out this layer similarly to the other layers. While blue would’ve gone between the green and purple layers, we were worried about adding too many layers. Since every added layer will make the layers beneath it thinner, we didn’t want stretch the layers too thin. If you would like you can try to include this layer, but you are going to need to be super careful with rolling your layers.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Wrapping Up the Bubble BarRainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Wrapping Up the Bubble Bar

Now that all your layers are added, you are ready to roll them into a loaf. So, turn your layers so that the mat or paper is vertical. Then, take the edge that is closest to you and slowly roll the dough the same way that you would wrap up a jelly roll. Be careful to roll the dough evenly as you go to make sure that it is lined up.

Rainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Slicing Your Finished ProductRainbow Bubble Bar Recipe: Slicing Your Finished Product

Lastly, you will need to slice your bubble bar loaf into individual bars. You will want each one to be somewhere between 1 and 2 inches thick. So, you should end up with about 8 slices. But this can vary slightly depending on the thickness of your slices. After all of your loaf has been sliced you will need to let the bubble bars set up. Simply separate the slices a bit and let them sit in one place for some time. This process can take between 48 and 72 hours. This time will vary based on your climate, but you will be able to tell that your batch has completely set up because they will become hard.

Once your bubble bars have set up they will be ready to use! All you have to do is crumble one under some warm, running bath water. Then, you will be all set for a fun rainbow bath.
